02 Aug 2023The Power Of An Answered Question00:10:37

Today marks episode 100

Episodes where I ask my guests over 30 intimate questions about how they view the world, about how they desire to go forward in it, about what we can learn if we simply…ask

So today I want to share 3 powerful questions I ask myself before sitting down with someone

3 questions that have allowed me to ask so many of someone else

I’ve learned so much about humanity and communication in not just interviewing others but more importantly in creating space for others to truly respond

In what I’ve learned as an interviewer, a friend, and a fellow human, what it means to

Communicate, to Be heard, respected, appreciated, and valued in conversation

So today I want to share these 3 questions with you, not because I have it all figured out, but because they have allowed me to learn from and connect with humanity

So tune in today and let me share how these questions can help you connect and create space for more authentic conversations

13 Nov 2024Jules - An Open And Welcoming Space00:47:01

What would it look like to live in a world where we all believed our purpose was to make others feel safe with us?

Today I want to introduce you to Jules, Jules might be one of the sweetest humans you will ever meet, not just because of how she will genuinely hold space for anyone around her, but because of how she so authentically shows up and allows others to not just know her but feel freedom to be who they are around her as well

Jules is one that I admire and love dearly, she is a lover of coffee, and passionate force for friendship. She is a loved and cherished human that loves and cherishes humans.

We talk about the kind of person who stops to hug their friends during a marathon, how it’s such a metaphor for life and appreciating connection, how community and holding space for others is of utmost importance, and how she never wants to miss out on her “Saturday’s”

She shares what it’s like holding herself to an often harsh standard, how the pressure of letting those who love her down can feel heavy, but how the reality that she has accomplished and pursued one big dream after another is something she is so proud of

We chat about how it is never too late to pursue a dream and in her beautiful words how “dreams aren’t just for kids,” is a truth we all need to remember to believe. We talk about the impact of being in a partnership, how that person can be a place of home and peace, and how it should never take away from who you are.

So tune in today and meet Jules, someone who will change how you view the pauses you take along your journey in the best way, someone who will make you believe you can: be wanted, be worthy, be real, be kind to yourself, and be a beautiful friend

And to you Jules thank you, thank you for letting me make you cry a little, for letting me learn a lot from you, for being a woman I and so many others can see grace and love so prominently displayed in how you choose to live. You are a sweet gem and I’m so grateful to know you and feel the way you love others so fully

23 Nov 2022Rob - Infuse Empathy Into The World00:53:41

What could you learn if you met 10K people?

How could you impact the world if 10K people met you?

Today I want to introduce you to Rob, a man on a mission to do just that, to connect with, get to know, learn from, and share a part of himself with 10 thousand people around the world

I met Rob as a part of his project that he is almost 7 years in on, and one he expects will take another 7 to complete. Rob is one who I believe is succeeding in his mission to infuse empathy into the world through human connection. His consistent dedication to his project has already allowed him to meet with and learn from over 5K amazing people!

Getting to sit down and share a part of Rob's story is something I am honored to be able to do, to give you a chance to see what inspired him and what keeps him going on this path he has set before himself.

We talk about the importance of making others feel seen and heard, why everything on top of time with the people he cares about is a luxury, and why he values delayed gratification.

He shares why saying I love you to friends is a practice he is grateful for, why understanding that we are not all dealt the same cards is important when we evaluate our own actions and how we view another's, and his hope that we might not allow ourselves to fall into the pattern of comparison.

We talk about the challenge of knowing what specifically needs to be done to succeed as an entrepreneur, the art of talking to and connecting with others, and what it looks like to use that ability to help others begin a conversation with someone new.

So tune in today and meet Rob, one that is on a mission to connect with humanity, one who sees the value in what we can learn from each other, and continually invests his time and resources to share that with others. Rob is a gentle, easy to connect with human, he is a listener which stood out to me so much; in a world where we listen to respond, or worry what might be going on around us, Rob is genuinely present with whomever is in front of him.

And to you Rob thank you, thank you for your willingness to listen and share time with me as a part of your own project, and thank you for your time in being a part of mine. You have reminded me the power in listening, of not worrying how some may perceive us, and the power in learning from someone else. I'm excited to see where life continues to take you as you continue to pursue what you have set before yourself with joy and consistency. @robs10kfriends

26 Mar 2025Mariale - An Immediate Friend00:42:13

What if we were allowed to be imperfect and to change?

Today I want to introduce you to Mariale, I had the pleasure of meeting this sweet girl on a day in Lima Peru, if you listened to last weeks episode than you heard a bit of Alex as well, these two welcomed me into their lives for the day as if we were old friends reuniting

She is someone who holds to a gentle spirit, one who values the joy of each day, and one who shares what it can be like when fear can get in the way of how we are present with those we love

We chat about the value of trust, not just in relationships but in life, in how without it we cannot move forward in a job, in a relationship, or any aspect of life.

She shares about a time that landed her in tears on national television, how strangers came to help her, and how it changed the way she views what truly matters

We chat about what it means to value your place in life, but to never ask for love or to fight for the right to be valued for who you are.

Mariale is someone I instantly treasured, someone I believe made me a better person for the single day I got to share with her, someone who I think shares some of the most impactful advice for humanity, and someone I have a profound respect and love for

So tune in today and meet this sweet soul, hear what it is to view our parents as humans, what it means to smile at the man in the bank, and why what is personal is ours to give power to

And to you Mariale thank you, thank you for your genuine open heart, for your way of allowing me to know you and seeing me as well, and for the way you choose to show up in this world. You are a human I am honored to call a friend and cannot wait to see again soon

22 Mar 2023Stanley - What happens if you look up00:38:51

There is an unspoken lesson I learned from Stanley; but one I want to share with you all

His gentle demeanor

His natural inclination to smile at and share what he has with a stranger

His reserved nature and the reminder that what is yours, that your story, it remains with you on your terms

That sharing it with another is a deep form of trust and that everyone doesn’t deserve that trust

My first time meeting Stanley reminded me of that feeling when you are in a place your feel a bit, out of place, like everyone around you is in a world you maybe just don’t fit into, and then you look up and find that someone else shares that same feeling

That feeling that one stranger choosing to see you and in a simple act of sharing a smile can communicate a thousand words, a thousand feelings, and one invaluable human gift… the chance to be seen and understood

So often we go through life in our own space, in our own world, looking up from time to time to be sure we are still on the right path, but I’ve found so much more in remembering that our world is shared

That it’s more important to fix our gaze and attention around us, that once in a while taking time to look down, reflect, and process is ok, but that we miss so much more when we fix our eyes on ourselves, or our phones

I shared a brief moment with a stranger, which turned to a conversation, which allowed me to know a bit of what has made him who he is, which led to me sharing the tiniest bit of who he is with you…

All because of a smile, a muffin that gave an excuse for conversation, and a gaze that wanted to see the world we share

So that lesson; look up, smile, don’t be afraid to connect with another over a simple moment in life, such moments are never a waste of time

So tune in today and meet Stanley, a man the values showing up for others because we can, a man with many dreams yet to be realized, and a man that believes in not giving advice but one that wants us to remember to think about whatever it is we need to do or become

And to you Stanley thank you, thank you for being one that looks at those around him, that gives a smile quickly, that doesn’t fear letting someone else know him, and for sharing time in a coffee shop with me

14 Aug 2024Angela - Everyone Is A Friend Just Waiting To Be Met00:39:59

Do you have a friend you can call that always comes through?

Today I want to introduce you to Angela, I met Angela at JFK and from the way she interacted with her son, me, and everyone else’s around, I knew she was someone I wanted to get to know. So a few weeks later we met up in Brooklyn and had one of my favorite chats

We talked about everything from what it means to be there for your friends and chosen family, to what food is getting served at her funeral and why

She shares why the thing that brings her joy is also what her husband fears might kill her someday, how the pandemic made her re evaluate her life and the realness of the brevity of life overall, and her hope that she doesn’t raise a bad kid

She shares how in her culture “yelling and nagging” come from a place of love and care, how she wishes for change when it comes to our political situation here in the states, and why as an ER Doctor it matters to talk about what you want the end of your life to look like

Angela shared with me how she believes everyone is just a friend waiting to be met, and I couldn’t agree more or be more grateful that she became just that

Angela is one that reminds you instantly to smile, that she sincerely cares to help in any way she can, and that she isn’t afraid ti be human in all that it entails

So tune in today and meet this amazing human, someone who sees people so often on their worst days and yet holds firmly that people are good

And to you Angela thank you, thank you for the reminder that people like you exist, for the way you so intentionally and genuinely choose to believe that someone’s best might not be who we meet them as, for the way you are intentionally impacting those that get to know you by showing up for them, for the time you so graciously shared with me, and for the honor of getting to share a part of your story with others. You are a remarkable human and I’m so grateful I get to know you.

31 Jan 2024Roland - I only need one like00:23:59

What if you didn’t feel a need to convince anyone, if you didn’t need to sell something to find success, if you treated time as the greatest luxury available to you?

Today I want to introduce you to Roland, Roland is one of the most intentionally passionate humans I’ve met, he is someone who consciously presses into life

He shares what it means to be rooted in nature, why feeling like the smallest thing on earth is both sobering and empowering, and why he wishes we didn’t only take from the earth

We chat about authentic communication and how time is not a thing to be wasted, how we should not need to convince anyone to be in our lives or “buy” what we are “selling”

He shares about what it feels like to be where he is in life and the vantage point he has to see the bigger picture of what life is and why we need to be able to look at others and take ourselves out of the equation

Roland is one that taught me quickly to remember the value in how we value what we do; both our work and our intentionality with ourselves and others

So tune in today and meet Roland, a human who knows what it is to exist as who he is, simultaneously a part of the bigger picture; a human that reminds us all what it is to be authentic, confident, and caring

And to you Roland thank you, thank you for being so willing to have a chat, for your passion and joy in sharing how to better explore where you live, and for the reminder to love my own life

He shares how he values community over competition, how he desires to facilitate growth among others in the creative community, and the importance in giving back to the places that continue to inspire him

24 Jul 2024Liliana - To Speak Well Of Another00:44:57

What does it feel like when someone speaks well of you?

Today I want to introduce you to Liliana, Liliana is this beautiful free spirited human, one that defines well with her actions what it is to respect another and be willing to ask or give space for the why behind who someone is

Liliana and I got to spend some time together in Palermo, and in addition to those times being filled with laughter and good wine, they were also times where deep conversation about life took place. I had the chance to hear about who this human is and how she so sincerely cares for life and those she gets to know

We chat about what it means to be simple decent and “normal,” what it is to speak well of others when they aren’t around, the impact of someone caring without expectation or control, and a desire to experience life not simply watch it

She shares what it feels like to know her strength as a woman while simultaneously giving space for the way situations can feel uncomfortable, she shares how being grounded in what you want doesn’t eliminate FOMO but it does make trusting your decisions easier, and why it’s important to be caring but also to care for yourself

Lily is one of those humans that you meet and you know you are going to miss when you have to say goodbye, she is one that holds love and respect, one that will care but not get caught up in what doesn’t hold weight, and one that I am so happy to call a friend

So tune in today and meet Liliana, a compassionate, caring, cute, and absolutely incredible human being

And to you Lily thank you, thank you for being you, for the late night walks and talks, for the joy so genuinely share, for the light that radiates from you that you so sweetly give, and for the time to be in your presence. You are a gift to this world and I am so grateful I get to know you and call you a friend.

11 Dec 2024Malcom - The Internet Isn't Real00:55:33

What if you met a human for the first time today? No past experience, fears, or expectations, just a blank slate on what this could be?

Today I want to introduce you to Malcom, I met Malcom on the train compliments of his suitcase rolling its way over to me as the train took off. There’s something about interactions like this one that I feel like we all need to be reminded to take note of…

Malcom is the kind of person that will smile back when you pass him no the street, the kind of person that will pause and let conversation with a stranger happen, and the kind that values connection and others enough to ask a question and make a friend

I think the world would be a better place if we all took some advice from how Malcom views life. If we let ourselves see a passerby or stranger on the train as a chance to know someone…

We chat about what it means to be career driven with an overriding love for the unconditional love of family, why calling his favorite meal “the burger of France” is both accurate and a little insulting, and the sense of pride in what he does and how he gets to see it impact a student

He shares something a past employer told with him that changed how he sees and values not just his work but who he is, how the times in life that light a fire in us are exciting, filled with change, but still require action from us to bring them to fullness

We chat about how men are layered, how spending 3 min a day on something is an almost un attainable goal that he wishes we all hit more, and what he wishes people knew about the French

Malcom is one that doesn’t give advice lightly, one that has a sincere respect for what it means to be who we are, one that will put the work in to understand something and teach it with passion but never make someone feel less than as they learn, and one that I believe gives some of the best advice to be shared on this podcast

So tune in today and meet Malcom, a human that I believe reminds all of us to live in the reality of what our day to day interactions are, to base our judgment of self and others on what takes place in the real world, and to remember that online isn’t always the most accurate place to be

And to you Malcom thank you, thank you for being someone open to connection with others, someone willing to share time, allow me to get to know you, for the gentle and joy filled way you approach life, and the reminder to value those in our lives that are nothing like us. Happy to call you a friend

Have you ever been told that pride or confidence as a woman is a negative thing?

Today I want to introduce you to Alejandra, a woman that I believe every woman, young and old, needs to hear from, and of course for the men in this world as well

Alejandra is a human that has chosen to let her life serve purpose, to have meaning, to impact others, and most importantly, to enjoy what and who she has become

We talk about learning new things no matter what point we are at in life, about what it means to be present in places as a woman and how being a mom makes that even more important not less

She shares the fear of someday not having the energy to do all she can and loves to do, but also how that allows and pushes her to use her time and build wisdom to share with others

She shares the difficulty in running a hotel, supporting her employees, and what it means to be a leader in the storm of 2020

We talk about her hotel Rennova and the choice to renovate what life can become, the power we give when we believe in someone and remind them that it is hard but to face it and move forward, and the we are who we decide to become

So tune in today and meet Alejandra, a human full of passion for life, one that is aware of challenges but not unwilling to press into them, a woman and a mother that knows the value of showing her kids what it means to become all they were meant to be, and a human intentionally making an impact on the world one life at a time

And to you Alejandra thank you, thank you for the reminder of what it is we are able to do in this life, for being a woman I can look to and be encouraged and inspired by, for the opportunity to know you and learn your story, and to see first hand the impact your work is having on humanity. or if you would like to connect with Alejandra on any of the projects she has built you can follow along and find her HERE

05 Jun 2024Justin - A Human's Human00:50:12

Do you ever feel out of your league; or do you really think we are all just on the same lever?

Today I want to introduce you to Justin, in addition to being a part of the community at my local co working space R5, Justin is someone I have come to know and enjoy conversation with. Whether it be when we are supposed to be working, or over lunch, Justin is one who views himself and humanity as simply that… human

We chat about what it means to not be labeled or boxed in, what leaving a legacy  means to society and to him as an individual, and why deep connection and the memories that trigger nostalgia hold a deeper sense of value

He shares why failing fast may be one of his life mottos, but that he also believes failure is dumb and would be fine doing without such feelings

He shares about the dirtiest job he’s ever had and how it pushed him to not settle, and to pursue what his best is in life, about his thoughts on the patriarchy, and what his tattoo would be if he ever got one

Justin is one of the humans I get to know in this world, one that intentionally values differences, chooses to see the “why” behind an individual, and one that shares a sense of humor I appreciate

So tune in and meet Justin, a humans human, and one that I know will add something not just to your day but to the way you view another and maybe even yourself

And to you Justin thank you, thank you for taking the time to let me ask you some deeper questions, for being a part of the community that I love, for inviting me to our fresh air annex “work” sessions, and for being you, you are a pleasure to know and I’m grateful I get to share a small part of that with others

03 May 2023Sebastian - No One Is Lower Than You 00:55:03

How important is it for you to feel valued, to feel that the person before you, no matter their role, sees you as equal?

What would it look like if we valued others regardless of their position, regardless of our position, regardless of what they know but rather by how they interacted with humanity?

Today I want to introduce you to Sebastian, Sebastian is a man that has taken his love for nature and humanity and brought them together in how he runs his restaurant, how he pours his heart into what he shares from his kitchen, and how he is present with those in front of him

He shares with me how he and his partner value the environment they work in and the people that are a part of that family, how they heart in those people matters over the knowledge they may have, and why the key to success is to preserve humility and respect, and to treat others as equal; that no one is lower than you in life or in work

We talk about the importance in sitting with a place and its people, why its important to enjoy life in its entirety, to focus on its joys often, and to not wait for something specific

He shares how his time out of Bolivia gave him perspective and in so many ways validated what he knows, and in other ways gave him gratitude for what is present in his life

Sebastian is not unlike many others I met in Bolivia in his warmth, he is a man with a kind smile almost always about his face, eyes that seek to see and know who stands before him, and a heart focused on the ways he can give of who he is to those he loves and those in his life

So tune today and meet Sebastian, one that I admire for his courage to share who he is with someone he barely knows, someone who does not fear sharing his heart, someone who is willing to push himself beyond what may be easy to connect and share what life has taught him with humility and love in a way I am honored to share with you

And to you Sebastian thank you, thank you for your willingness to be so patient with my flawed Spanish, for your graciousness in welcoming me into your home at Ancestral and the way your heart pours so beautifully into the food you shared with me. It was an honor to be welcomed and I look forward to seeing you again my friend @sebasancestral

26 Jul 2023Tamer - Love is a serious thing 00:49:28

What does peace feel like to you?

Do you think it's possible to feel at home in more than one place?

Today I want to introduce you to Tamer, Tamer is a bit of a special episode for me for a few reasons, one being the honor of sharing someone I love and respect with you; second, I started this podcast almost 2 years ago back when I first met Tamer and his brother Sam, who if you've been a long time listener than you know Sam was one of my very first guests on the podcast. I met Tamer and his family at their hotel here in Cappadocia and I've since been back twice now, every time it feels a little more like home to me, and every time I get to share a little more time with this beautiful family.

Tamer is one that I have had the honor of getting to know, spend time with, go on adventures with, and one that I am deeply honored to call a friend.

There's a lot I could say about who this man is, about how he loves his partner, his family, of how he gives of his heart so intentionally, of how his presence is gentle and patient, or about how he has a contagious smile; but I'd rather you hear from him...

He shares with me how life has led him around the world, from Holland to Turkey, to Australia, and New Zealand. He shares the struggle and reward in being a nomad at heart, the joy in moments shared of good food and spent with good company, and how he loves getting to share and create a meal or a cocktail and getting to see the joy it brings someone else.

He talks about the importance of being able to share the truth, even the hard truth, but that delivering it in a soft way is more important than simply delivering it, how our tongue can be our greatest enemy if we allow it, and a time in life that he remembers being afraid of what would come next.

Tamer is one that I've found to see others and give without desire for recognition, one that values people, values putting them first, values showing up for the ones he loves, and one that shares who he is with the world in a gentle, kind, creative, and sincere way.

So tune in to today's episode and meet Tamer, a man that speaks with intention, loves with his whole heart, and one that you can't help but learn from.

And to you Tamer thank you, thank you for trusting me to share part of who you are with others, for the time you always give to to hangout and share part of your home, for the way you have welcomed me, and for the memories that make me smile. You have made me a better person for knowing you. Can't wait to see you again soon my friend. @tamerdural

08 May 2024Laura - I Love to Learn & I Hate to Learn00:41:55

Have you ever felt like being an introvert was a weakness?

Today I want to introduce you to Laura, the center to our Oreo on my recent time in Scotland, and more importantly someone that loves to say yes to the adventure of life

This is possibly one of the most raw and fun chats I’ve ever had as we recorded this on a late night drive through Scotland, a drive with near fatal moments, hunger, and a whole lotta laughter

Laura is someone that will make you laugh, listen to you, encourage you, make you feel like you can do whatever you set your mind to, and remind you it’s ok to ask, to learn, and to belong

We chat about how a near death experience didn’t raise her heart rate but what elevated her heart and made her anxious

She shares how fear used to impact where she went and what she did, but how she now has had some of her most impactful experiences and moments because she has chosen to press into that and see what’s on the other side

We chat about how lack of confidence can feel like second guessing ourselves, how she wishes others would know and see their potential, and how deeply she values her friends and getting to motivate them to pursue adventure

Laura is one that made me feel like it was ok to be a kid again, she is one that reminds you how important it is to observe, one that is so her and one that I so value and am so grateful to know the talented and beautiful human that she is

So tune in today and meet Laura, one that I promise will remind you just how important it is to be you, to let life be fun, and to be a friend

And to you Laura thank you, thank you for being you, for freezing close to death in a van with me, for giving me the motivation to someday not need to pee on the side of the road, for being a constant reminder during our trip to make space to laugh, to not overthink, for the way you so easily made me feel comfortable around you, for the way you encouraged me, and all the absolute insanity in between. I’m so grateful get to know you and for every memory you are forever a part of

02 Nov 2022Tavi - The Value Of Presence00:40:11

What if you only saw what someone said to you?

Not what they looked like, not what they have accomplished, but simply how they made others feel?

Today I want to introduce you to Tavi

Tavi is a man that speaks with value, listens with interest, and chooses to be present with humanity

11 Sep 2024Caoilfhionn - The Impact of A Pebble00:48:19

Have you ever expected someone else to “have it all together?” As if being in a certain stage of life made them less eligible to be “human.”

Today I want to introduce you to Caoilfhionn, Caoilfhionn is one of those people that you meet and instantly makes you feel as though just being around her will somehow make you more joyful and confident yourself. She is one that I’ve known to have an infectious character, the kind that lifts the standard, and honestly, the entire vibe of whoever is around her.

I had the pleasure of meeting this gem a human a few years ago, and every time I see her it only reinforces what I know to be true; she is passionate, caring, so so much fun to be around, and above all, I’ve seen her make myself and others feel seen.

We chat about what life is like for her as one often able to make others laugh, how at the same time she is stepping more and more into letting those close to her know her more, and what it means to hold space for our parents and the reality that they are allowed to be human too.

She shares why “saying yes and figuring it out after” has been something that has served her well in her business, and why taking time for herself and holding space for what, “sets her a light” has been something she is pressing into more

We chat about what it looks like to let go of pleasing others, what it feels like to have your mind in more than one place at a time, and what it means to “pebble” love in the lives of those close to you

Caoilfhionn is one that has lived through dark times, she is one that brings an undeniable light with her wherever she goes, and she is one that I admire and hold in the highest regard

So tune in today and meet Caoilfhionn, someone that I am confident you will learn from, see parts of your own journey in, and be reminded that being human is so ok but doesn’t for a minute mean you can’t accomplish every last one of your dreams

And to you Caoilfhionn thank you, thank you for taking the time to share such an intentional chat, for sharing your heart, your light, and your love with me. Thank you for the way you have confidently stepped into every space I’ve seen you in and how in doing so you remind me to do the same. You are a walking, living, breathing work of art, and the world is lucky to see and be impacted by your heart as it is displayed in your work ,wherever and however you continue to share it.

There were personal things, rings I’ve collected from my travels around the world, gifts from friends

Dive gear that was needed to shoot for a client project and as a freedive instructor things that are integral to have

But as I put out a message asking for help, hoping friends in Mexico might see someone trying to sell what was taken

What I got was an outpouring of love

18 Dec 2024Olumide - An Ember & An Olympian 01:15:13

What makes someone worth listening to?

Today I want to introduce you to Olumide, and while I could say he’s worth listening to because he’s an olympian, because he’s experienced grief and learned how to grow through it, or because he comes from a culture that maybe you have never heard of or one that maybe your history connects to….

I could say those things make him worth listening to, but they aren’t…

Olumide is someone that isn’t chasing, not chasing the most popular person in the room, not chasing a title, but someone who is simply, human; and in our world today this is a quality that in my opinion is what makes him worth listening to

We chat about what it was like being the youngest sibling in a Nigerian family, the rich culture and the loss part of that family at a young age. We talk about what it’s like to grow up and realize it’s ok to not be ok, and that those that love us need us to be human not strong

He shares what realizing his dream as an Olympian felt like, where that dream started, and how the loss of his dad marked healing in what it means to not hide from what it is to feel

Olumide shares so much of what has made him who he is, he shares lessons his journey has taught him that I know will not only impact you as you hear them, but in so many ways allow you to be remained, or maybe even hear for the first time, that it’s ok to be you, to be proud of you, and to accept the greatness and the good that makes up who you are

So tune in today and meet Olumide, a human, and one that I am so excited to share with you

And to you Olumide thank you, thank you for being someone who can sit in a crowd and connect with a single individual, for sharing your journey, your culture, for the way you so genuinely value the person sitting in front of you, I’m so grateful to have met you and even more to have gained a friend

12 Jul 2023Petey - Do More...Fun things in life 01:21:09

Have you ever heard the saying "you are the sum of the people you spend time with?"

Today I want to introduce you to Petey, someone who not only chooses positivity because of the people he surrounds himself with, but also one that adds to the pure joy of those that get to spend time with him.

Petey and I may get a bit off track from time to time in this episode as we chat about running hard and fast towards your dreams, about why being you is the most important role you will take on in this life, and why jumping and often failing is one of the most elating feelings we can experience; BUT, our "off track" moments are some of my favorites...Some of the moments you get to see just a fraction of what it's like spending time with this human.

Petey shares about the "leap" (more like giant flight) he took in moving to the other side of the world, the way he has pushed himself and held himself accountable to keep pursuing his dreams, and why it's so ok to struggle as we learn and move forward.

We talk about the importance of telling others how we feel, about having those you can sit in silence with, and why being yourself is an opportunity to impact and help someone else in ways you might have never known.

So tune in today and meet Petey, one of my favorite humans and a man out to share life, joy, and all he has to offer with the world

And to you Petey, thank you, thank you for allowing me the honor of sharing a glimpse of who you are with others, for the friend and absolute treasure you are to me, for the way you allowed me to learn from you, be encouraged by you, and for simply being you. Cheering you on always and counting days till our crew is back together!

if you want to follow along with Petey's adventures you can find him @peteyboytv

What would someone say about you after only knowing you for 5 minutes?

Today I want to introduce you to Bjarni, I’m here in Iceland and many of the places we have stayed have been small fishing villages, but our stop in Dalvik was different.

From the moment I met Bjarni I knew he was one I wanted to sit down with and learn more about; from the way he was so quick to treat us all like friends, share a coffee, and his towns history with us, I’m so honored to be able to share more of this truly lovely human with you all

We chat about what it’s like living in and doing what he can alongside his wife to preserve the history and culture of his hometown, how he looks forward and is aspiring to become a full time grandfather,  and the fear of outliving another of his children.

He shares why he believes the way we view difficulties in life is a choice, how some heartbreaking and trying moments have impacted that view, and the reality of what real problems are in the world

So tune in today and meet Bjarni a man that will walk around in shorts and a t shirt when everyone else is in a winter coat, and I think that is not unlike his heart; that maybe when so many of us are closed, needing more, or afraid to let the world see us, Bjarni is filled with the joy of what each day has and is giving him, he is one that will sit with you, share what he knows, and in what I found to be the most precious of all, allows others to know him and feel welcomed around him

And to you Bjarni thank you, thank you for your hospitality, for the ease in which you show up in the world, for the time you shared in allowing me to hear your story. You are a man filled with integrity, one that is easy to trust and one that is deserving of such trust. Matt is one of those people, one that I get to learn from when it comes to jiu jitsu, one that approaches everyone around him with a gentle humility, desire to know more of who they are, and finds genuine joy in sharing what he knows

We chat about everything from drunken noodles to deep life changing loss, from the peace in jiu jitsu to anxiety, and what it means to view the world with curiosity and a strong desire for polarity to be less a part of our world

01 Mar 2023The Ground Is Shaking - Why It's not time to move on yet from what happened in Turkey00:07:44

Today I want to talk to you about current events and humanity

On February 6th a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck turkey and Syria with over 2 thousand subsequent tremors occurring in the next days and weeks, tremors reaching 6.4 and 5.8 re devastating and leveling cities along the Turkish and Syrian border

The Cities of Hatay, shanli-urfa, gaziantep, ossmaneya, adiyaman, and Aleppo have been completely destroyed

And the following quakes leveling the province of Hatay less than a couple weeks after the initial shock

To date over 47,000 people have died between Turkey and Syria with over 43 thousand in Turkey alone

Leaving countries, cities, and homes in ruins

And to this I would ask you to tune in and allow me to share why this matters to all of us, what we can do, and what our actions say about our part in humanity

There are two ways you can help, first there is an urgent need for tents that are acting as homes for families right now, $530 USD will provide a tent for a family; a home for them as theirs has been destroyed by the damage from the earthquakes. If you are able to give anything towards these efforts all donations will be sent directly to Hatay. For this you can send your donation to my Venmo link HERE just mark it for Turkey support.

If you prefer to donate to the efforts at large you can find a link HERE if you are able to give anything towards the rescue and rebuilding efforts as so many take a step forward after such a devastating loss.

have you ever had someone share something with you that made you think; "I'm not sure you should have said that"

today I have some very short thoughts on the matter, simply because, the matter seems to keep coming up; I hope that this is a reminder to pause before we speak to someone else about our opinions and a reminder to not worry as much about others opinions when they do share them

there are people in your life that have a right to speak into it, and there are those that do not; dare I say it is very ok to know the difference

16 Aug 2023Hamza - Half Made The Whole Difference 01:02:54

“It all happens for a reason”

What would it mean in your life if there was purpose behind your suffering, if you could trust that there was meaning behind what you did not understand?

Today I want to introduce you to Hamza, Hamza is an intentional creative soul, one that is not afraid to put the work in whenever he gets the chance to work towards his goals.

Hamza shares with me how health difficulties caused him to become an entrepreneur, how using his free time intentionally allowed him to change the opportunities available to him, how growing up with money can make some things easier, but that it doesn’t mean it’s impossible if you grow up with less

He shares his desire for others to know how deeply Moroccans love their mothers, how his culture has a deep respect for women and elders, and that being open doesn’t mean doing what someone else wants

We talk about how important it is to use your free time, how easy it can be to let that time be what pulls you away from who you can be, and how that is often made harder by the lack of opportunities within his country

Hamza is a what I would call an inspiration, someone who has chosen to use what he has to become more than others may have thought possible, he is one that I find great gratitude in getting to know, to learn from, and to share with you

So tune in today and meet Hamza, a man that reminds us all how it is up to us what we become

And to you Hamza thank you, thank you for being so open to humanity, so willing to connect with another, so graciously sharing your culture, your life, and your incredible view of this world. I’m so grateful to be able to share a part of who you are with others.

@moroccobyme

26 Apr 2023Mauricio - Where The Heart Of A City Is Found 00:36:13

Have you ever heard that the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach?

What if food was also a way to get to know the heart of a person or a country?

Today I want to introduce you to Mauricio someone who does just that, Mauricio is one of the incredible head chefs at Ancestral located in La Paz, a city so full of diversity, vibrance, beauty, and life; and Mauricio does an incredible job of bringing each of those qualities into the food he creates

Yet in addition to being an incredible chef, Mauricio is also a man who values and does not take lightly the impact that role has on those around him

He shares the joy he feels in cooking and working with his hands but also the deeper joy in seeing his guests enjoy what he has created for them

He shares how he’s learned to care for the parts of the restaurant beyond the kitchen, the reminder that the restaurant is a business as well as a place of creativity, the importance in seeing those two areas separately and clearly, and as the important things that they are

We talk about the culture within Bolivia, its ability to grow and change with the world and the way its diversity is something he is grateful for

Mauricio is one that pours so much into his work, but also one I have a ton of respect for in the way he runs his “ship” there is a tangible sense of care and respect amongst the family surrounding him in the kitchen and on the floor, a sense of character and calm that is rarely present in a restaurant environment, and an attention to detail that creates space for passion to be present in every dish that leaves the kitchen

So tune in today and meet Mauricio, the man that reminded me just how possible it is to be passionate,  present, and productive in what we do

And to you Mauricio thank you, thank you for allowing me the honor of getting to know you, for the chance to hear more of who you are, what matters to you, and what has impacted how you show up in this world, thank you for your patience and presence, and of course for sharing the way food turns into art in your kitchen @mauriciolopezancestral

He shares about life as a teen and what pursuing a dream when things around him seemed impossible, about how the thing he is most proud of has also been the thing he at times has been afraid of losing the magic of, and his desire that we understood what we have been given in this world was more present

We talk about communication and how it differs between men and women, how much potential we all have and his desire for you to know that opportunity and pursue it with a full passion

I’ve known Alberto to be a man of joy, hard work, an open mind, and one that loves making learning and sharing what he’s learned with others as fun as possible

What do you think would make the world a better place?

Today I want to introduce you to Claudio, Claudio and I met in Palermo and I was instantly aware of his cheerful spirit and kind heart

Claudio like my guest last week was also managing the space at Ostello Bello and graciously carved out some time to let me share a bit of his easy going, kind, and positive heart with you

We chat about why travel is important but how it doesn’t always mean getting on a plane, how seeking out new ways to see where you are can impact us, and how the belief that people are good impacts how we see life as a whole

He shares the value of being a person others can trust and be heard by, why he is proud most of his relationship with his wife and the value they place on individuality, and why slowing down and giving your morning coffee the time it deserves can change the way you go about your day

Claudio is one that walks as though something is lifting him, maybe it’s the smile he shares always with others, maybe it’s the way he handles with care and sees the person in any situation, or maybe it’s the peace in being close to the sea; or maybe it’s just who he is

So tune in today and meet Claudio, someone who reminds you to focus on the little things, that kindness really can save the world, that being content with what life has given you is not a bad thing, and most of all to enjoy the process not just the end result

05 Mar 2025An open letter to the President00:09:41

An open letter to the president

A lot has happened in the short weeks since you took office, I won't say I speak for all of the American people in this, but I believe we have a right to know how you would answer this question; what is it that defines an American to you?

I do my very best to not discuss politics online as I find it detracts from what matters most in life, the chance to connect, value, and show love to another. But, so much has taken place, and I fear so much more yet to come, I want to share this letter on behalf of my fellow Americans and on behalf of those that feel fear, concern, and even a bit of hopelessness at what has and continues to transpire.

I can't say I've seen a leader I was proud of lately in this country, but Mr. President, as the one who holds a powerful pen, I ask that you consider who it is that truly makes up what it is to be an American.

I hope you tune in today, I hope if you find this helpful or want to talk that you will send me a message, and that you would know that my intention is as it always has been, to hold space for my fellow human to be seen and valued.

Sincerely,
Your fellow human
Lianna

28 Aug 2024Ali - To Send One Away With Happiness 00:29:05

Have you ever heard that “the measure of someone’s character is how they treat those who have nothing to offer them” well what would it look like to be that person? Have you ever experienced being treated poorly or with greater esteem because someone wanted something from you or because you didn’t have anything to offer them?

Today I want to introduce you to Ali, I have known Ali for 4 years now and from the first time I wandered into his shop until now I have not only experienced this but also witnessed how he genuinely treats every person that comes through his door with the same value.

In his own words, “my goal is that people would go out of my shop with happiness

I simply wonder what a world would look like if we all approached each day, “wishing people left time with us happier?”

This is a conversation I know has impacted me and one I’m excited and honored to share with you all

Ali shares with me why he is someone who loves humans, why he has taken the time to learn different languages to connect better with others, and why being a good father and a good husband is what he is most proud of

We chat about his soccer teams recent win, how Turks are not Arabs, what it would be like to live in a world without war, and how the most difficult thing he’s done is something I am sure I will never accomplish

He shares how his time living in the United States changed him and the way he does business, why he doesn’t negotiate but instead deeply values running his shop with integrity and genuine connection

I have been back to Cappadocia 5 times now and visiting Ali, sitting over a tea or a beer, hearing how life is, is one of the things that makes this place so special

Ali is one that will greet you with a smile, one that shares practically what it looks like in his life to show others they hold value, and one that I know is worth learning more about

So tune in today and meet Ali, and I hope if it inspires you to visit Cappadocia, make sure you go tell him I say hi

And to you Ali thank you, thank you for sharing your time over the years, for the honor of getting to call you a friend, for the way you have cared for everyone I have brought into your shop, for the genuine and warmth that you have always welcomed me with, and your sparkling personality. You are a fabulous human choosing to leave people better than you found them and I’m grateful to know you

20 Sep 2023Donat - Just Ask Me01:09:16

What’s the difference between struggle and choice?

Today I want to introduce you to Donat, Dona is the kind of man that you meet and instantly feel like you have been friends for a long time, he speaks to you without judgment or fear, and listens with sincerity and intention

I met Donat back in the winter during dive training in Rijeka, and immediately was made aware of his genuine acceptance and care for others. So getting to spend time with not only him but also his beautiful family during my recent time in Croatia, I was so excited to get to sit down and let you guys hear a bit of who he is

We chat about what it means to find joy in another’s success, about the difference between talking, complaining, and taking action, how people often fear what they don’t understand, and how he often prefers when others don’t believe in him

He shares how he has grown up in the sea, how as far back as he can remember he was always diving, how he wishes we were doing more to protect the ocean and how he has seen so much decline even in his own lifetime in its health

We talk about what it would be like really know what others think of us, how important it is to be able to hear something without fear and making our own determination on the weight another’s words should have, and the importance in valuing honesty and dedication to something no matter what that looks like for someone else

Donat is a man that in my opinion takes things as seriously as they should be, he pushes himself hard, and gives everything he can towards the things that matter to him, and holds balance in being able to not give weight to the things that have no right to hold us down, he’s a friend, a father, a husband, and human I respect and value a lot

So tune in today and meet Donat, someone that reminds us all to not fear what’s said, to not fear difficulty, and to find joy in the days we are given

You are a gem of a human my friend @donatfaraguna

17 Jul 2024Becoming My Story00:06:51

today is a short message from me; today I turn a year older and as it brings up thoughts and an odd sense of settled peace; I wanted to share some thoughts and some of the way things have felt over the years. My hope is that they will remind you wherever you are, however old you are, you've got this.

sincerely,
your fellow human

we grow and evolve over time, and our story gets chapters added to it as life happens; we aren't who we were at 16, or even 20, but we still have so much of our story to be written.

so from one human to another, don't be afraid to keep growing into yours.

Today I want to introduce you to Becca, I met Becca on a creator trip I hosted last year, and her joining for another one here in Bolivia was something truly special

I believe we meet people for a reason, but I also believe we don’t always meet people as our best selves; but who we are is always present, the root and the heart of what makes us who we are, it is what another gets to know

If I’m being honest, when I met Becca I was in a different head space that I am now, but something about her, her intentionality to know who someone is, her ability to be seen for who she is, I’m truly grateful to know her and call her a friend

He shares a pivotal time in his life where his entire future was ready fixed on a life he never saw coming, and how in one text, it all changed.

We talk about what it means to be seen, wanted, and welcome, and how each of us matter so much more and make so much more of an impact than we often realize. About how privilege and segregation are neither far enough in history or something we often handle in the best way, and what it would look like if we used what we have been given to better those around us.

12 Mar 2025Dylan - Commit To Your Boundaries00:37:36

Do you think we should be happy with where we are in life or do you feel like it’s healthy to “never be ok with where we are”?

Today I want to introduce you to Dylan, Dylan and I met compliments of an event in NYC, if you remember me sharing about the group of us that hung out that night, and maybe even recognize him from a recent portrait set I shared (from his birthday)

Dylan is the kind of human that will ask how you are doing, the kind that will listen to what you have to say, the kind that fears mystical monsters, and is not a fan of how his grandmom feels about death

Dylan and I chat about what it’s like growing up, setting boundaries that allow us to be better and show up for those we love and ourselves better. We chat about managing time and being in two places at once, and the idea of why we should never be satisfied.

He shares why community matters to him, how he is excited to be a part of creating community and space for others. He shares the reality that I think we all need to be reminded of, that men have emotional health that needs to be valued, and how listening to people when we meet them can change the way we interact with them

Dylan is someone who has chosen to see life and show up in a way that creates a better space, life, and world for those around him, he is one that has a gentle spirit, and sincere heart, and a desire to remind others to not be afraid to ask yourself who you want to be.

So tune in today and meet Dylan, someone who will remind you what it is to listen, to be you, to care deeply but not at the expense of who you were meant to be, and someone who I have come to know and get to call a friend

And to you Dylan thank you, thank you for being you, for taking the time to share a chat, for the way you so genuinely desire to remind others that being who they are matters. You are a kind soul and a creative human, excited for all that’s ahead for you and for many more hangs at the studio.

28 Jun 2023Is it real? - What does it mean to be authentic?00:09:22

What is real? Have you ever had someone question who you are? If the way you live is authentic to who you really are on the inside? Have you ever felt like you weren't being honest with yourself by not speaking up? When is it ok and necessary to simply let another's impression of us stand and when is it our duty to ourselves and others to speak up?

Today I wanted to share some thoughts and hopefully a reminder of what it means to be authentic, who has a right to know us deeply, and why there are times to let another assume

So tune in today and let's chat, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one as well.

01 Nov 2023Omar - Wear The Yellow Shirt00:42:51

What if you viewed your life in three complete parts; past, present, and future, would it impact who you become?

Today I want to introduce you to Omar, Omar and I met in my recent time in Dahab. I wast speaking with a friend at his coffee shop and in walks Omer, and instantly I had a new friend

Omar is what I would call an outgoing, intentional, and empathetic man, the kind that can’t take 10 steps without being greeted by someone he knows, someone who has a smile for everyone he sees, and someone who is beautifully growing in sharing himself with others

He shares the fear of losing faith and hope in himself, about his big dreams, and his desire to not give up on pushing himself towards them

We talk about the importance of asking why, of trying to understand someone else’s perspective and experience, and the respect we can give someone when we might not know the whole story

Omar is one that believes pursuing your path is the first step towards being encouraged, one that believes in encouraging others as they pursue their own journey, and one that believes and loves our differences but at the same time values the recognition of our similarities

So tune in today and meet Omar, in many ways the “mayor” of Dahab, the man with a smile, and the human pursuing the depths and heights of what this life has to offer

And to you Omar thank you, thank you for sharing your friends, your town, your time, and who you are with me. Thank you for being my dive buddy, my tour guide, and most importantly, my friend. You are a treasure in this world, loved deeply by those who know you and I hope you never forget how true that is @omar_sadek

17 Jan 2024Andreas - A Universal DNA 00:55:24

Have you ever been told you “aren’t” something because of another’s definition or opinion; like what you are doing doesn’t qualify until it reaches a certain level of success by another’s standards?

Today I want to introduce you to Andreas, I met Andreas as we wandered into the Nobel Peace Center here in Oslo, and after a short chat about a chair, I noticed a light and story about him I wanted to get to know; I asked if I could come back later and interview him, and he agreed!

We chatted about the value of honesty, straightforwardness in relationships with friends, we chatted about what it means to be an artist and how we choose to share that magic with others, and the importance of being willing to try

He shares how an injury led to a visit to China, and how that led to a greater depth of connectedness to humanity, the depth of what it means to learn, and the impact of becoming a part of another culture

He shares about how he unintentionally started a recording studio and how that brings him so much joy getting to create with other musicians, and how it even led to winning a Norwegian Grammy

I am so grateful I got to meet Andreas and I know you will be as well as you get to hear a bit of the journey life has led him on so far

So tune in today and meet this human, a man willing to share, willing to listen, one without ego, and yet one filled with genuine peace and pride for what he has done with his life

And to you Andreas thank you, thank you for letting a stranger become a friend, for allowing me to share your view of the world with others, and for the way you are intentionally sharing your work and your heart with the world, you are a full and beautiful part of humanity

05 Apr 2023Brandon - Change your narrative01:28:10

Do you ever wonder what makes you who you are, what attributes others see in you that define who you are to them?

What if you could change that?

Today I want to introduce you to Brandon, Brandon is one that is not afraid to say yes and see where life leads, he is one that pours everything he has into whatever he does, and one that is not afraid to change who he was to become who he wants to be

He shares how his friendships and ability to have deep conversations led him to chase a dream, how those same conversations allowed him to value who he was and worry less of what others thought, and how times of struggle have made him a better and more creative person

We talk about what it means to “create” art, who its created for and why it can be encouraging to create for those outside of our community

He shares why part of this trip was scary for him but also why so much of it, stress and all was worth it

We chat some of our major “L’s”  during our time in Bolivia, how connection and collaboration are a big part of success and growth as a creative, and the joy that comes from bringing something to life

Brandon is one that takes his time in a way I’ve appreciated, one that doesn’t rush into letting outside circumstances impact immediate action, one that values having a plan, but also one that is admirably able to throw the plan out the window and chase a dream

So tune in today and meet Brandon, one that will challenge you, remind you to find joy in who you are becoming, and one that will inspire you by the art he continues to create

And to you Brandon thank you, thank you for going on this wild last minute ride to the end of the world with me, thank you for reminding me to trust in who I am, for dreaming with me, for putting up with all the stress and helping me bring a dream of mine to life. It is an honor to call you friend and I can’t wait to see what adventures are ahead, this world is a better place with you in it and I am a better person for knowing you @Brandonroyce

29 May 2024Kate - Raw and Replenished01:20:52

Have you ever been questioned for doing what was right for you?

Today I want to introduce to Kate, I’ve had the honor of knowing Kate for some years now, and from the first time I met her until now, she continues to be someone I admire and respect both in how she runs her business and how she shows up in the world

We chat about what defines success for her, how it is not just financial but is more connected to the people she chooses to work with, what it means to be in business as an individual but also as a woman, and why as an entrepreneur there seems to never be a shortage of dopamine

We talk about the impact alcohol has on conversation when we choose to step away from it and how so often removing it from our lives makes others uncomfortable, how so often others need a reason for some of the health choices we make for ourselves, and the freedom in not letting those opinions impact our choices

She shares what trend she is actually into and why it has impacted her so positively, how worrying what others are doing, what’s current, and what’s “in” is not on her list of priorities, but this one is thing is different

Kate is a human that will welcome you quickly, one that may read 8 books at a time, but one that will give you her full attention as you step into her shop. I have known her to be human, to be real, to allow empathy, sincerity, and realness to be qualities that mark who she is

So tune in today and meet Kate, learn a bit of her journey, of what it means to be raw and real, of what it looks like to live a life that is fulfilling

And to you Kate thank you, thank you for taking the time to have this intentional conversation, for the value you place on connection, for the way you show up as you, and for the impact I know your openness and sincerity will have on those that get to hear this. You are a treasure and I’m so grateful to know you

05 Feb 2025Chase - If There's One There's A Million 00:58:20

What would it look like for you to help someone just a little? To give someone not ALL of what you had, but just, some?

Today I want to introduce you to Chase, someone who I would consider a connector of humans. The kind of human that when he meets someone seeks to share his network with, bring into his world, and I believe, uniquely inspire them to pursue whatever it is they dream about.

Chase is one in a million, but he’s one that shares that no matter how unique each of us are, the beauty in knowing that there are so many others that connect with what we connect with, value what we value, and have even experienced parts of life the way we have; the reality that we are on a common journey.

We chat about what it means to have a “third space” in our world today, how he has found so much purpose in creating one not only for himself, but for others to share in. He shares how a time in his life when life felt, not worth it, shifted by him taking a small savings and just letting it take him on an adventure.

He shares how he is the sum of those around him, how his moral compass was guided by his friends, much to his success, and how steak is best served with a table to share it with

Chase is one that makes it easy to feel inspired around, hard to let yourself feel something is impossible around, and one that will remind you that; “if you do something long enough, you have to get better at it.”

So tune in today and meet Chase, I promise you will walk away from this conversation feeling read to in his words “do the right thing, and create cool shit.”

And to you Chase thank you, thank you for how you so genuinely have created and welcomed me into your space, how you have such a sincere joy for connection and creation, for your endless pursuit of doing what you love and inspiring others, and for the absolute joy it is to call you a friend.

Teanui is one that knows the value of life, the value of time, and the impact his life could have on others and the world…

He shares with me how an illness framed the way he sees life, how an accident redirected his course in life, and how he has learned that his desire to help others gets to be lived out in his work

With dreams of being a firefighter being shifted, he found that making an impact isn’t always about what we see immediately in the moment, sometimes there’s a greater impact we get to be a part of

Max is the type that will make a meal for someone else, the kind that will listen, and the type that has space to truly connect with someone else

We chat about the times life requires a step back and the fear that can come from knowing the value of that but also wanting to not let momentum gain in the wrong direction, about the value of time that we give and can’t get back, and the internal monologue of overthinking that impacts so many of us

He shares a time in his life that he shifted and began to value who he could become and what that meant for what got his energy, why solitude is a good thing and doesn’t mean something is wrong, and the impact of another giving their time to him

You know the kind of person that doesn’t have no in their heart for what they are passionate about?

Today I want to introduce you to Sumaya, Sumaya is a woman that I gained an immense respect and admiration for very quickly after spending our first meal together, she is one that views her life as an opportunity to do good, to see those who are hurting, and to love those in her life

She shares with me what it was like embracing big roles in her career at a young age, why she doesn’t get sick because she doesn’t have time for such things, and why giving the extra step is something she fears she may at some point be unable or unwilling to do

We talk about how we can give others an opportunity to be reminded of who they can be and who they are, why dreaming and doing are connected, and why she believes that if you can dream it you can do it

She shares why she believes our role when someone says “you can’t” is to show them they are wrong, why fear or not, we should approach whoever we need to make something happen for the sake of what is needed, and why we must not allow ourselves to be blind to the realities around us, no matter how ugly they may be

Sumaya is one that lives as a vehicle for change, one that uses everything at her fingertips to remind others of who they can be, one the welcomes struggle, and one that believes if something is done in love, we have no need to worry about offending those we seek for help

And to you Sumaya thank you, thank you for the way you have shared so much of your life work with me, for the deep honor of meeting your kids, for the way you have reminded me to not fear those in power more than we fear letting down those in need, for the opportunity to see a small part of your world through your eyes, and the gift of knowing you; you are, against your will, a remarkable and incredibly valuable woman @pradosumaya

08 Feb 2023Colleen - More Than Four Sides01:00:43

When was the last time you felt like your most vibrant self?

Do you remember the last time you felt truly alive, do you remember where you were, what you were doing, or who you were with?

Today I want to introduce you to Colleen, someone who's most vibrant and alive self I had the chance to share time with in one of the most beautiful places in the world

Colleen and I recently connected in the Canadian Rockies, a place she knows well and a place I had the chance to see with her. Colleen is not unlike the towering mountains or the perfectly placed snow we spent our time in, she is one that like the mountains stands firmly on what matters to her and at the same time lays gently like the snow besides those she cares for

She shares with me why she believes time to be one of the greatest gifts we have and why spending it both intentionally and efficiently impact how she values it most. She shares the heaviness that can be felt between a sense of heart and duty and how those two fare when it comes to direction in life at times

We talk about the importance of pressing in and not losing our zest for life, how loss changes us, and how the impact of those we learned from stays with us

We talk about how the world might be a little kinder if we each learned to value others choices a little more, why accepting ourselves a little sooner in life wouldn't be the worst thing, and why happiness doesn't mean someone didn't work hard to attain it

Colleen is one that observes and responds to those around her with understanding, she is one that knows the struggle life can be and chooses to show up for others in those hard places when she can, she is one that reminds others in the way she lives that it's ok to think of someone else first, but also one that doesn't negate her own value in the process

So tune in today and meet this adventure chasing, mountain climbing, angelic singing friend of mine

And to you Colleen thank you, thank you for being a girl that loves seeing the smile on another's face, for the way you patiently value what's important to the person in front of you, for pushing me oh so gently and firmly to not let my fear hold me back, for allowing me to learn from and get to know the genuine friend that you are. 22 Feb 2023Joffrey - Be A Friend That Absorbs01:03:25

Do you remember a time when someone made you feel worth showing up for?

What about a time when you sat with a friend and simply listened to what they needed to share?

Today I want to introduce you to Joffrey, someone who has both been impacted and chooses to impact others by absorbing what they need to share and understanding what our actions say when we show up

We talk about the fear of losing our ability to be ourselves, how disease can come for us and we can't hold it back, and how that impacts how we approach our days. We talk about the importance of community and the way we get to learn about things completely new to us simply from talking to a stranger.

He shares what it's like being humbled by his kids, but also how their words can also be the highest compliment and affirmation. We talk about the struggle of comparison and how it comes for each of us, how addiction rips through so many and steals so much life from those in it and around it, and why it's so ok and so important to ask for help in every area of life

Joffrey is one that values directness and carries that value with him in a gentle way, he is one that values the joy found in life daily and how that joy can't be shaken in the way happiness can, he is one that isn't afraid to experience life and has a hope for others to do the same; to go for a walk, give someone a high five, or do something new

So tune in today and meet Joffrey, a teacher in a professional sense but more importantly in a humanity sort of way, I know you will walk away from this episode learning something new about what life has for you

And to you Joffrey thank you, thank you for the chance to share a part of who you are with others, for your fun and open spirit, for the way you choose to approach life and people with a student like heart to learn from and absorb what each moment has to offer, you are a genuine soul and it's an honor to know you my friend.

19 Jul 2023Jonas - An International Man 01:42:15

Have you ever heard something and thought, "wow I need to try that" or "that's so helpful" and then, forgot about it?

Today I want to introduce you to Jonas, and let me start by saying this episode is FULL of things you are going to find so so helpful! So in his words, "write it down, give yourself a plan, and take action"

Jonas and I met in Cappadocia as to us feels like a simple result of being like minded people in a beautiful place..

But, it's so much more than that

It's who he is as a creative, as a photographer, a filmmaker, and more importantly as a human

Jonas and I talk about the joy in seeing others push themselves outside of their comfort zone and getting to celebrate in them succeeding, we talk about how travel has allowed us to meet those closest to us, and the hope that others would know pursuing a life they desire almost always comes down to believing it's worth pursuing.

He shares how he has grown in confidence not just in what he does, or an ability to teach and share it with others, but also with who he is and how he shows up in the world

We talk about the importance of taking time truly "off" as a creative, the balance in having a partner that is not in the creative space, and why "settling down" is allowed to look different for each of us

This one is so much value and so much insight for our fellow creatives but also for anyone in ANY area of life; so much of our humanity is communication, sharing, connecting, and learning, and I'm so grateful to get to share a part of Jonas with you all

So tune in and meet Jonas, a man that values connection, that embraces the way life and his heart expand through change, one that will greet you with a smile, a genuine heart, and a contagious excitement for whatever lies ahead

And to you Jonas, thank you, thank you for taking the time to sit and allow me to get to know you more, for your honesty, humility, and perspective on life and humanity, for the reminder that life is beautiful, but the way we appreciate and pursue moments in its beauty are up to us. You are a truly beautiful light in this world my friend and I'm honored to know you @jonashornhoj

22 May 2024Alex - Wildflowers and Optimism 00:41:14

What if you stopped and truly smelled the flowers?

Today I want introduce you to Alex, a self proclaimed optimist, a girl that will make you feel like who you are is exactly who you should be, and a human that embraces life for all it was meant to be

We chat about her time as an elite rower, the dedication and commitment to what it meant to be a part of that team, and how her time in Australia in competition impacted so much of her defining success and failure as an individual

She shares how she is an ideas girl, and how that part of her creative brain works and thrives in the early morning, how she loves looking at her work and creating a  way to make something different and unique, and how her work at times can be hard to explain to others for the way she spends her time

We chat about our lack of impressibility for those that are famous, the reality of financial struggle in the creative industry in the current market, and how brand success will decline if marketing is not seen as the necessary investment that it is

I have an immense admiration for Alex in so many ways, for her dedication to what it meant to be on her rowing team, to the joy she so infectiously shares with anyone around her, to her ability, or inability to hide her emotions on her face

So tune in today and meet Alex, a human full of intentional optimism, a willingness to put in the work, and one that will always stop and smell the flowers

15 Jan 2025Dear Humanity part 201:25:20

Welcome back for part 2 of Dear Humanity

What is something you feel humanity should know?
If you were to share something with a large crowd, what would it be? Today's episode is a compilation of some of my guests over the years answering this question

So tune in today and find out what my friends around the world would give as their "ted talk"

17 May 2023What does it mean to pursue happiness?00:13:08

Today I wanted to chat a bit about what the journey of happiness can look like and often where we can lose our way.

The idea that we can pursue something we don't want, are unsure of, or strongly desire, and each path can either lead us to happiness.. or create our own prison.

It's a thing I've often heard others opinions of as far as my own pursuit is concerned, and one that I know from conversations with others, is not so uncommon to hear or even feel as if we should have gone a different way.

20 Nov 2024Michi - Staying Alive For The Birds00:54:50

What is your reason for living?

Today I want to introduce you to Michi, Michi is the kind of person that will speak to you as if who you are and what matters to you is what he desires to know most, as if there really is joy in the unplanned moments of sitting with another.

There’s a sophistication to the way Michi approaches a conversation, something that came so gently and humbly across, but something so intentional that says, “I now enough to value you and learn from you”

We chat about the importance of rooting your value in something that cannot change or will always be there, about how deeply the birds and the sunset impact how we see life, and a what a well placed ice cream shop has to do with peace

He shares the reality of how big changes all at once came into his life have proven to him that our ability often outweighs our fear, how time alone actually allows us to show up in a more impactful way as someone who deeply values time and connection with others, and why knowing those that are different from us is something we all need to have in our lives

He shares why offering to lead, to give the speech, or sing in a talent show is some of the best advice he can give, (and I have to agree.)

There’s a lot about Michi that I truly admire, a lot about how he is able to articulate his view on life, humanity, and his role as a part of it all. But I think what stood out to me most is the simple reality that he chooses to ask “what matters to who you are” in a way that comes from a place of intention; to ask a question that allows another to share a bit of their heart.

So tune in today and meet Michi, someone who is making an impact on the world by simply seeing whomever is in front of him, and someone who I know will change for the better the way you view how you answer the question, “what is your reason for living?”

And to you Michi thank you, thank you for the chance to learn more of who you are, for your trust in allowing me to share the light in you with others, for the way you have shown me care and value in our conversation, and the way you are impacting the world one person at a time. You are a truly lovely human and it is an honor to know you

She shares why her life makes many think she is crazy, but for her the crazy and scariest thing would be to not live the way she does, how she wishes she could give everyone a feeling of self awareness for their own growth and joy, and how others are allowed to process who we were to them without it changing or invalidating who we have become

Lilah is one that quickly became a friend I will treasure, one that as we shared what it means to have our hearts live in pieces around the world, will undoubtedly carry a piece of mine with her wherever life takes her next

We chat about what it means to be seen and how that can be terrifying, what it means to sit in fear and not run from it, and how life, when we let it, is the best teacher we can be around

09 Oct 2024Adam - Be Honest But Don't Make Life Harder01:02:55

If you could make someone smile would you? Would you take the time to brighten someones day simply because you could?

Today I want to introduce you to Adam, I met Adam briefly back in May when I was in Portugal for the first time and I was instantly sure of two things; that we become friends and that I would come back and get to know him more. Well thankfully both were true, coming back to Algarve and getting to see more of what he does here, having him quite literally, show me the ropes of kite surfing, and in what was possibly my favorite times, driving around location scouting and getting to chat in the car

There is something to be said for those that don’t make another feel as though they need to “measure up,” you know the kind of person you feel ok to be yourself around, ok to not know the answer to something, and ok to be silly without worrying if you will be seen as less. Adam is such a person.

We chat about what it means to be an open minded person; towards people, towards opportunities, and towards life. We talk about what it means to not worry about the opinions of others, not fearing those opinions or letting them hold us back, and why being honest is worth the work

He shares change is something he’s looking forward to, to growth, to being uncomfortable in what he’s learning and how he is growing, and who he might become as he gets older, be it a version of Johnny Knoxville or maybe something more reserved. He shares why he values growing up in a time when they still “fixed something” if it was broken and how maybe simply listening to each other more might allow us in some ways to get back to that.

Adam is one that sincerely cares, one who will offer what he can to help another, and one who is honestly, someone you could laugh with, have deep conversation with, or sit in silence with and feel as though it was time well spent. He is one who speaks of himself with honesty and one that creates a space of ease for others to do the same.

So tune in today and meet Adam, a human worth listening to, one worth learning from and being reminded by simply hearing his own story, how the importance of taking the right things serious and not taking other things too serious might allow us to see someone else with an open mind

And to you Adam thank you, thank you for sharing time, your talent, your open heart, and your sense of humor with me. I’m truly grateful to have had these days with you and for the chance to get to know the genuine and kind human that you are even more.

02 Oct 2024Pierre - The Wealth of What You Give Away00:39:34

Has something painful ever caused you to avoid anything that could cause that pain agin?

Today I want to introduce you to Pierre, there are some people you meet that you quickly find common ground with, people that feel genuine and that in some way see the world as you do

Pierre is one that if you ever have the chance to meet you will find him to be someone that will feel like the warmth and softness of being back with an old friend, someone that has an ease about them as if they know what it is to experience life in all its joys and sorrows, and someone who so intentionally finds joy and shares the love he has with those around him

We chat about what it’s like living for 9 months with 27 different nationalities, ages, and backgrounds all in one place, how he gets to enjoy the joy of days surfing with friends, and the importance of expressing ones heart

He shares how lockdown changed his life, how a breakup and the change it led to in what he thought would be his life, left him looking forward in a new way, and how peace in the world feels not fully possible when parts of humanity are suffering

We chat about how life can change and how we have a choice in if we move forward in fear or choose to find a path forward allowing that fear to heal and giving ourselves space to see what comes next

Pierre is one I admire a lot for many reasons, but one that stands out to me the most is the way he so sincerely has kept his heart in a way that allows love for others and care for himself to be given and received.

So tune in today and meet Pierre, a man that will remind you that life is something we should seek joy in, that people are meant to be listened to with care, that it’s ok and important to allow yourself to move towards purpose as it evolves, and that there is always the ability to value and respect another

And to you Pierre thank you, thank you for being the most flexible person I have ever interviewed, for taking the time three different times to share so much of who you are with me and allow me the chance to know you more. You are a truly wonderful soul and I am honored I get to call you a friend.
