Welcome to episode 56. Today want to continue the conversation from our last episode with Tara Heaton. I will take you through a personal example of how I made continuous improvements towards a goal and I talk about how to navigate through that fear, doubt and uncertainty so that you could get your beautiful work out there.

10 Aug 2021 | Episode 34: How to Passionately Love Selling with Annie P. Ruggles | 00:48:59
Perfection, in theory, is a great thing-- but any self-described “perfectionist” knows striving for flawlessness can quickly set you back. For those of us that are naturally hardworking and driven it can be easy to get caught in this perfection trap. It’s good to work hard and want more for yourself but oftentimes this desire to achieve is tampered when you get too caught up in how big your goals are. Imperfectly Ambitious is about balancing your drive to do big things with an acceptance that it’s okay to be yourself. In fact-- yourself is the best thing to be. My guest today is Amanda Edwards, a business mentor, who helps women make more impact and find more fulfillment through their work. Amanda has led accounts and sales strategy over the past 15 years working in the technology industry, with Fortune 500 Companies. In an industry with very few women, she has had to learn how to own her voice, establish authority and her leadership, and today has a passion to help you do the same thing. She has created the internationally chart ranking Imperfectly Ambitious Podcast to equip you with tools to help you pursue your own version of success and break through what holds you back. Amanda lives in Minnesota, US with her husband, two young kiddos, and golden retriever. Today we discuss:
I can’t wait for you to listen in and to learn how to move forward being imperfectly ambitious as Amanda Edwards shows us her way.

Welcome to episode 111 of the Transformational Selling Podcast! In this episode, best-selling Co-Author, Andrea Waltz, joins me to discuss the themes of her new novel, When They Say No. She co-wrote the book with her husband, Richard. If you haven’t read the first book yet, Go For No!, you can grab a copy on Amazon. Aside from being a talented writer, Andrea Waltz is also the co-founder of Courage Crafters, where she teaches people in virtually every business and industry how to think and feel differently about failure, rejection, and the word, “no.” Today, Go for No! is a well-known methodology in the world of selling and is widely recognized as the singular best program that deals with rejection in business. Andrea’s second book, When They Say No, incorporates the concepts of the first book, but she peels back the layers even more, identifying what to think, say, and do upon rejection and resistance. Together, we dive deep into what it’s like to sell while battling fear and worrying about hearing the word, “no.” Through tangible examples and real-life stories, we outline how to strategically cope with rejection and persevere. 07 Dec 2021 | Episode 48: This ONE Thing Will Propel Your Business and Leadership to Exponential Results. | 00:33:51
Welcome to episode 48. How often have you discounted, or devalued a characteristic, skill, or something different or unique about you? Or have you had an inkling of a talent or ability that came somewhat easily to you only to dismiss it as nothing special and that everyone else must also do this thing you do with the same ease and flow. Or even better, you’ve got this unique ability, and you push it to the side saying you want it to look this way or to be more of that or be more like him or her? I know I have more times than I’d like to admit. But what if this thing you have, is the thing you are here to bring to life and to the world to add value, bring good and make a positive impact. I talk a lot about stepping into your Brilliant Difference and using that to propel your business and leadership. Last week I had an experience that I need to share with you. It was so powerful, validating, and transformational that I want to offer it to you as an inspiration point as you look at who you are, who you want to be, where you are going and what you want to do in this life and business of yours. This was also somewhat of a spiritual experience. I haven’t stopped thinking about since it happened and throughout the whole experience, I viscerally felt like I was being given something special and sacred. It was a gift and I excited to give it back to you. Here’s what you will learn in this episode:

19 Jan 2021 | Episode 9: Be Who You Are Meant to Be to Succeed with Robyn Sayles | 00:54:15
Are there qualities you bring to the table that are unique? Does this uniqueness feel more like a burden than a gift? Guess what? These differences and unique qualities you bring to your leadership, clients, and company is what you need to bring most. In my book Sell From Love – I talk a lot about how we need to love ourselves in order to sell, work and lead better. If you don’t love who you are how can you expect others to? If you’re not being valued or appreciated or if you’re not being recognized for your true worth – could you be the one who is dismissing, denying or devaluing yourself most? My guest today, Robyn Sayles is the CEO and Founder of Launching Your Success. Robyn started Launching Your Success because she believes that when people know their value, they perform better and when people have fun, they learn better. In this episode we have a frank discussion on authenticity and being yourself in business and in the workplace We talk about the challenges with bringing your whole self to the work and how ‘fitting in’ tends to take over many of us at one point in our careers. Eventually this only leads to you bringing a watered-down version of yourself to your work and leadership. And that is something I don’t want for you, your clients or your business. Being yourself is fundamental to your success and leadership. It will help you get clients, climb that corporate ladder, and build your business. Robyn shares her perspective on how you can be more of you, teach others how to treat you, how creating an emotional connection with your clients is key to your success and how to prepare for those moments when you’ve got to venture outside your comfort zone. I can’t wait for you to listen to this episode and get inspired to be who you are meant to be to succeed as Robyn Sayles shows us her way. Welcome to episode 49. I don’t know about you, but I love to learn. I love books, podcasts, courses – pretty much anything that can teach me how to be better. But what I’ve discovered is that learning comes with a double edge sword. It’s something that helps propel you forward, while at the same time it holds you back. This past week in our SFL Mastermind we’ve been talking a whole lot about taking courses and when is the right time to upskill and increase your capability in a specific area. Upgrading your knowledge and skillset is important. However, when you are making these kinds of investment decisions – when they from fear you will find yourself spinning in a vortex of overwhelm and spending endless dollars into programs that are not right for you or timely for where you are at in your business.

05 Jan 2021 | Episode 7: Give Yourself Permission to Step Back to Move Forward with Dr Greg Wells | 00:46:29
In this episode with best selling author, scientist and physiologist Dr.Greg Wells, we talk about the importance of taking time to slow down to speed up. It’s not about getting back to normal, rather re-imaging a future – is how he puts it. He shares insights on the patterns of elite athletes and how, when they learned to play less, they gained more. One of the things I really took away from this conversation is to allow ourselves to make burn out okay. Burnout tells us we stretched our limits. It is the cost of hustling. Instead wronging ourselves for burning out consider it a tool to help you re-image and design your future with. By saying yes to everything – you’ve burned yourself out. How could you use the power of NO to proactively determine which opportunities you will be open to and say yes to. That is the blessing of burning out, hustling and exhaustion offers us. It is a clarity call and confidence booster for decision making. As we start 2021, many of us are making commitments, designing goals and resolutions for the year ahead. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or daunted by what’s ahead or maybe you’re confused as to what goals to focus on – then you’ve got to hear the approach Dr. Greg Wells offers so you can build better habits, hit your goals and achieve your results. I can’t wait for you to listen to this episode and get inspired to unlock your highest and best performance as Dr. Greg Wells shows us his way. Now let’s dive in! Historically, imposter syndrome has a bad reputation. It’s a state of being anxious and not feeling success internally despite external successful performance, leading people to feel like a fraud. When imposter syndrome rears its head at work, it can limit your brilliance, potential, and performance. But what if I told you imposter syndrome is a good thing, something to embrace that is a catalyst for growth? You just need to know how to move through and beyond it. In this episode, I expose the bright side of imposter syndrome and how it can be important to guide you toward your best future self. What to Expect

26 Oct 2021 | Episode 43: How to overcome comparisitis. | 00:21:21
Welcome to episode 43. Do you compare yourself to others? Do you look at what they have going on and think you’re less than or not good enough because you don’t have as many followers, connections, or a fancy Instagram page like they do? Are you evaluating yourself, your results, or your business against industry success stories? Basically, are you comparing your beginning or middle to their end? Are you wishing you could be somewhere other than where you are, right now in this moment? You’re not alone. We all do it, it’s something inherent in our human condition. We are hard wired to compare. It’s not you, it’s your brain. It is a judging, comparing and assessment machine. It does this so it can keep you safe, be efficient and stay alive. However, it does a terrible job at deciphering real threats to our survival to ones that hold us back from thriving. The same mechanism it uses to judge if the dark alley you’re about to walk through is safe or dangerous is the same that assesses if the stage or zoom room you’re about to present on or the proposal you’re about to put in front of your clients is going to have a positive and secure outcome or a be a negative, epic failure. It wants to hold you back from having the latter. As a result, while your brain compares to offer you ‘safer’ alternatives, you walk away feeling belittled, limited, and insufficient. The objective of this episode is for you to stop feeling bad about getting bitten by the bug of comparisitis. Instead, I want to offer you a way to use it to help you feel better about yourself and your business. We dive deeper into this topic for this episode. Specifically, here’s what you’ll walk away with:

Perfection, in theory, is a great thing-- but any self-described “perfectionist” knows striving for flawlessness can quickly set you back. For those of us that are naturally hardworking and driven, it can be easy to get caught in this perfection trap.

02 Mar 2021 | Episode 15: Do You Fear Rejection? You Need Rejection to Get to a Yes with Andrea Waltz | 00:44:25
In my research, 82% of people do not consistently put themselves out there asking or inviting clients to work with them. We tell ourselves, we don’t have time, we’re too busy or we’ll get to it tomorrow. But tomorrow never comes, as the same reasons stand in the way. The #1 reason we don’t put ourselves out there is fear. Fear of failure, fear of judgement and fear of rejection. It’s hard to put yourself out there to get that dreaded no. But do you know what’s harder – the impact of not even trying. My guest today Andrea Waltz is the co-founder of Courage Crafters, Inc. and co-author of the best-selling book, Go for No! Yes is the Destination, No is How You Get There. Andrea teaches people in virtually every business and industry how to think and feel differently about failure, rejection and the word, no. Today, "Go for No" is a well-known methodology in the world of selling and is widely recognized as the singular best program that deals with rejection in business. In today’s episode Andrea and I focus on the complicated relationship of failure and success. Yes and No are two sides of the same coin. When you Go for No you recognize that to get to a yes, you first have to go through a series of no’s. This understanding alone will free you from the fear of rejection as you realise its part of the process. Andrea shares insights on why we’re so afraid of the no and the value of overcoming the fear of failure. Think about this, how many no’s are you getting in your business? If you’re not getting any could you be closing yourself off to opportunities because you’re afraid of rejection. Andrea gives us a best practice. We need to set both yes and no goals. Yes, goals represent things we have to do in order to succeed while no goals introduce layer of opportunity. Coupling yes and no goals is imperative to maximize your potential. This episode will give you a newfound perspective on the word no and your ability to face rejection.

26 Jan 2021 | Episode 10: Be Loyal to Yourself, Even if You don’t Always Get it Right With Nancy Jane Smith | 00:48:45
In my book Sell From Love I do a deep dive into the five protector strategies we use when we feel fear, uncertainty, doubt, guilt or the pressure to meet expectations. The 5 protector strategies are perfection, pleasing, proving, performance and punishment. I’ve fallen prey to these more often than I’d like to talk about, and overtime have learned what I need to pay attention to and the triggers that activate one of these protection strategies. It’s made it easier to manage and even avoid because I know whenever I do something outside my comfort zone, inadvertently I can evoke a need to prove, perform and please. My guest today, Nancy Smith is a licensed Professional Counselor with eleven years in private practice and has spent over two decades working as a counselor and coach. She is an expert in High Functioning Anxiety where she helps successful, driven, type A professionals see through their perfectionism, people-pleasing, and tendency to compare themselves to others as a manifestation of their high functioning anxiety. In this episode Nancy enlightens us on what the difference is between trusting ourselves and being loyal to ourselves like we would to others. You may not always trust or believe in yourself in that moment however as you move forward to that goal, task or conversation. However when you approach it with a loyalty towards yourself where you are kind and compassionate to yourself no matter what the outcome is - your presence, power and leadership are transformed. Nancy gives us a way forward a simple 3 step process on how to overcome the tendencies to please, compare and be perfect and manage the voices going on in our head so you can go out there use your brilliant difference to make a meaningful impact to your clients and company. I can’t wait for you to listen to this episode and get inspired to be as loyal to yourself as you are to others Nancy Smith shows us her way.

06 Jul 2021 | Episode 32: Create Belief Systems That Attract Communities with Patrick Hanlon | 00:49:23
You don’t buy something because you’re attached to the product. You buy something because you’re attached to a feeling you can associate with the product. People aren’t dedicated to a brand because they love the logo. No-- they’re dedicated to what a brand allows them to believe. Your clients are seeking a specific feeling and experience. If your brand can create belief systems that attract communities, your brand will stand the test of time. My guest today is Patrick Hanlon, author of PRIMAL BRANDING. This ground-breaking book uncovers the root code for building authentic audiences and brand communities. PRIMAL BRANDING is required reading at YouTube. As CEO/founder of primalbranding.co, Hanlon works with billion-dollar brands and those who want to become billion-dollar brands. Clients have included Google, Levi's, Microsoft, PayPal, PepsiCo, VW, Kraft, Shopify, TimeWarner, Upworthy, United Nations and others. What are you working towards, really? Often in business we lose sight of our end goal and focus instead on strategy, sales, and results. We lose sight of who we are really working for. If focussing on the outcomes is the right thing to do, why can it feel so wrong? The book The Go-Giver validated all of these feelings for me and explained why a revenue-centric model may be stopping you from achieving those revenue goals. My guest today is Bob Burg. Bob is a sought-after speaker at company leadership and sales conferences where he shares his Go-Giver philosophy with wide audiences. Bob has written multiple books on sales, marketing and influence, with total book sales of well over a million copies. His book, The Go-Giver, coauthored with John David Mann, has sold over 975,000 copies and it has been translated into 29 languages. 15 Jun 2021 | Episode 30: Tame your Inner Critic with Tara-Nicholle Kirke | 00:52:29
“You’re your own biggest critic” is a maxim we’re all familiar with, but the real question is why. Or more importantly how, do we overcome these negative thoughts and patterns? In my book, Sell From Love, I talk about fear and how universal these feelings can be. The reason we sell from fear goes hand in hand with the reasons we keep ourselves down with that inner critic voice: self-preservation and protection. My guest today Tara-Nicholle Kirke, is a globally-recognized transformation expert, Master Coach and spiritual strategist known as The Inner Critic Coach™. A recovering attorney and the former CMO of MyFitnessPal, Tara wrote the authoritative book on transformational business. It’s called The Transformational Consumer: Fuel a Lifelong Love Affair with Your Customers by Helping Them Get Healthier, Wealthier and Wiser. 01 Aug 2023 | Episode 115: The 4 Horsemen to Sales Proposals | 00:25:13
Welcome to episode 115 of the Transformational Selling Podcast! In this episode, I'm going to discuss the four horsemen of sales proposals that may be getting in the way of you reaching your goals. Oftentimes when you don’t reach a certain revenue mark or don’t close with a prospect you were excited about, you look internally and may ask, “What did I do wrong?” “Was the order of my presentation effective?” “Should I have adjusted my wording?” While this is an effective process to build upon your skills, at the end of the day, it may not be you. You’re not alone on this journey. It may be your client. In the last episode, I discussed how you need to be in the right mind space to present a successful sales proposal. Likewise, your client needs to be in the right mindset and stage to say, “Yes.” Specifically, here’s what you will learn:

19 Oct 2021 | Episode 42: Stop Breaking Promises You Make to Yourself | 00:24:28
Welcome to episode 42. Can you keep a promise? I’d say you’re much better at keeping promises to a loved one, friend or colleague than you are keeping them to yourself. I know I am. If you asked me to write a blog for you or teach a workshop on a topic you are passionate about or talk to a few friends about your services and how you can help them – and I promised to do that for you - come hell or high water, you bet I would get it done for you. So why does the buck stop as soon as we start embarking on doing it for ourselves? You tell yourself you’re going to launch a course, publish an article on LinkedIn, or produce a podcast, then somewhere along the line you start negotiating your way out of it. Instead of launching a course, you sign up for a course to teach you how to launch one. Instead of publishing an article on Linked In, you stare at your blank Word or Google Doc, and sense a hungry pang jolting through your belly. Moments later you’re meandering through the pantry. Or better yet, you’ve got some research to do on your topic, so you’re surfing the web, gathering data, ideas and now have an even bigger list of topics you could write about. Your time block has come to an end. You’ve got to get on to more pressing things and you promise to try to get some writing done next week. What’s happening? Your promises started with such zest and zeal. A commitment that you didn’t think would dissipate so quickly into the abyss of the many other empty promises you’ve made to yourself in the past. The promises you make to yourself are the most important ones you are making. When you break them, you short-change yourself and the rest of us. You see, your promises are your big dreams, aspirations, and goals. They are who you see yourself becoming, but fear intervenes and interrupts your current self from ever taking action to becoming who you see yourself being.

14 Nov 2024 | Episode 180: Finding a Balance of Feminine and Masculine Energy at Work | 00:19:04
Regardless of gender, everyone brings a mixture of feminine or masculine energy. Some people lean on one more than the other. Masculine energy is described as “doing” and acting based on logic, knowledge, results, and reason. On the flip side, feminine energy is defined as “being,” acting based on intuition and emotions. Words that often describe masculine energy include confrontation, aggression, and control, whereas words related to feminine energy include oversensitive and co-dependant. So, you can see how these energies aren’t actually tied to a gender—a woman can be aggressive and a man can sensitive. Neither of these energies are wrong. In fact, there are several benefits to both. But it’s about finding a balance at work. In episode 180 of the Your Brilliant Difference Podcast, Finka shares a personal workplace story where, during a particular situation, there was a dominance in masculine energy and how leaning on her feminine energy as a Brilliant Difference created a meaningful change her workplace needed. Suddenly, people were more comfortable, had open communication, and shared their vulnerabilities, building trust and strong relationships. Remember, both energies are good, but consider: which should you bring at work? Apply this to situations as you experience them. 25 Jul 2024 | Episode 164: Career to Calling: How to Navigate the 2 Stages of Your Career and Exit Fulfilled | 00:32:27
While prepping for an upcoming keynote presentation and reading the book, From Strength to Strength by Arthur C. Brooks, it felt like the perfect time to open the can of worms that can help you make the most out of your work: How to turn your career into a calling. There are two stages in your career: the first half and the second half. Or what I like to name as career and calling. The first half consists of your career. In the book, Brooks explains that this is when you use your fluid intelligence, your knowledge and hard work to innovate and solve problems. The second half, if the transition is made right, consists of your calling. In this half, Brooks says we shift into crystalized intelligence, meaning we pull from our wisdom library not to answer “what?” but rather “why?” In this half, we search for more purpose and fulfillment. But how can you tell which stage you’re in, and how can you successfully transition so that you can leave your career with success and meaning? You can find the answers in this Your Brilliant Difference Podcast episode! What to Expect

Welcome to episode 130 of the Transformational Selling™ Podcast! In episode 129, you learned how to build a word bank (value stack) to brainstorm titles for your Signature Sales Style. Now we’re transitioning into how you can discern your Signature Sales Style in your work and how to overcome obstacles to embrace it. Recognizing your value and impact can feel uncomfortable for three reasons: you tend to focus on your weaknesses and how to strengthen those areas, it can feel icky and boring to give an elevator pitch of who you are and what you do, and you prefer the comfort of familiarity, avoiding change unless it’s absolutely needed. In this episode, you’ll learn how to overcome all three of these obstacles and how to whittle down your word bank (value stack) to create a Brilliant Difference™ Signature (Signature Sales Style) that helps you step into your best leadership self. 23 Feb 2021 | Episode 14: It’s Not About the Sale, It’s Building Relationships with Frances Hinojosa | 00:50:32
Having that difficult conversation or being the bearer of hard news is not always easy. And if you’re someone who endeavours to sell from love, tough love is not something we want to avoid – right? This is an opportunity to reframe this difficult conversation into a courageous conversation. You letting a client know you can’t do something for them or that it’s going to cost more than expected is an act of service – for you and for them. By practicing being brave, you up-level your leadership and impact and you invite your clients and team to do the same. My guest today Frances Hinojosa is the co- founder and President of Tribe Financial who’s mission is to dutifully help Canadians navigate the winding path towards homeownership. Frances was recently recognized by the Canadian Mortgage Professional as a 2020 Women of Influence in the industry for her passion and commitment in mentoring, guiding and coaching professionals in the industry. The core theme of this episode is how to overcome fear, so we go out there having courageous conversations. We look at the client relationship. In order to best serve our clients, we can’t be afraid to have a difficult conversation. Instead, we need reframe this delivery of “bad news” into an act of tough love. We can’t pull back or shy away from these moments, because their hard, instead it’s in these moments we practice being brave and learn more about who we are and what we’re made of. Ultimately, facing your fears through the practice of courageous conversations you end up learning more about your personal motivations, your why and your purpose. France and I also talk about how you communicate and those specific triggers that set you off. It’s by gaining a deeper understanding of yourself you learn to understand others better. 04 May 2021 | Episode 24: How I Got Caught Selling from Fear | 00:19:40
Learning to sell from love doesn’t mean being perfect. On today’s episode of the Sell From Love podcast, I’m sharing a personal story about uncertainty, selling from fear—and most importantly returning to selling from love. Fear and uncertainty in the system can knock us out of alignment but embracing sell from love means learning to recognize this and realign. I reveal the root of these fear feelings, and (spoiler alert) the relation to self-preservation and protection. In the episode, I share my most powerful technique for transforming your mindset and moving from fear to love. Needless to say, that four letter word - fear can become synonymous with it’s terror inducing relative – sell. So in today’s episode we’re going to talk about fear and how it shows up in selling. Now you may be saying to yourself you’re not afraid to sell. You got this selling thing down pact, it’s your offer that’s the problem or all the paperwork you have on your desk or inbox that’s overflowing with emails. If this is what you are saying or thinking you need to listen to this episode. If you’re not getting the results you want – meaning, clients meetings overflowing your calendar, an engaged contact list or have a healthy and hearty pipeline that you can turn on at anytime then fear may be showing up in your business without you even being aware that it is. Here’s what you will learn:

29 Dec 2020 | Episode 6: Understanding You. Using your Brand to Pave your Path to Success with Amber Hurdle | 00:54:45
How do you find and define your personal brand? Why do you need one and why is it important? When you know how you add value, the strengths and expertise you bring to the table, your most impressive personality traits and how make a meaningful difference to you clients and team you work with – your leadership, influence, and results you get will be transformed. Defining and living out your brand takes work. It’s a deliberate effort. Something you consciously choose to do, not haphazardly stumble into. If you leave it to chance, then you let go of your personal power to effect how you want to inform others about who you are. Defining your personal brand is not narcissistic nor is it about boosting your ego. Personal branding an aspect of a leadership that each one of us needs to take responsibility for. When you choose to define how you show up, how you serve and how you deliver results – that is when you get rewarded with more opportunities, more clients, and more resources. My guest today, Amber Hurdle helps leaders confidently define and position their value so they can maximize their influence, focus and results. We talk about the importance in having a brand. Amber shares how starting out as the underdog in life, helped her figure out very quickly the significance of proactively defining her a personal brand. Branding is not something that is limited to individuals. There are three types of brands we talk about in this episode and the importance of each to your leadership, success, and impact. At any given moment you, your team and your clients are making up stories how who you are and whether or not you are the person or company they want to work with or be associated to. I can’t wait for you to listen to this episode and get inspired to elevate your brand as Amber shows us her way. This post EP 6: Understanding You. 14 Sep 2021 | Episode 37: How to Follow-Through on your Dreams | 00:26:24
Welcome to episode 37. In this episode I want to talk about how to follow through your big dreams. Specifically, here’s what I’ll cover: 1) Find an inspiration point: When you were a kid – what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a teacher however I ended up working in a bank. I’ll share how I eventually followed through to make this dream a reality even when it wasn’t in my job description. 2) Start before you’re ready: Following your dreams and doing the stuff you most want is scary. You’re going out on a limb, doing something new and fear is right there ready to save you by moving you back into your comfort zone. So how do you do what you most want – even though you’re scared to death. This is what Steven Pressfield, author of The War of Art, has to say about self-doubt: “Self-doubt can be an ally. This is because it serves as an indicator of aspiration. It reflects love, love of something we dream of doing, and desire, desire to do it. If you find yourself asking yourself (or your friends), ‘Am I really a writer? Am I really an artist?’ chances are you are. The counterfeit innovator is wildly self-confident. The real one is scared to death.” How true is that? 3) Student becomes the teacher: And finally, the one practice that has time and time again proved to me how to learn to become a master of your craft or expert in your field. I’ll share how teaching what you most want is the best way to learn it yourself. If you have a specific question or topic, you’d like me to talk about on the podcast I want to hear from you.
