17 Jan 2022 | True Crime: H. H. Holmes - aka Dr. Henry Howard Holmes | 00:47:53
Our True Crime series continues and this episode features H. H. Holmes - aka Dr. Henry Howard Holmes, born Herman Webster Mudgett. Herman Webster Mudgett, better known as Dr. Henry Howard Holmes or H. H. Holmes, was an American serial killer active from December 1891 to November 1894. Despite his confession of 27 murders while awaiting execution, Holmes was convicted and sentenced to death for only one murder, that of accomplice and business partner Benjamin Pitezel. Victims were killed in a mixed-use building which he owned in Chicago, located about three miles west of the 1893 World's Fair: Columbian Exposition, supposedly called the World's Fair Hotel, informally called "The Murder Castle") though evidence suggests the hotel portion was never truly open for business... Links discussed on the episode:Leaked navy ufo photo was a batman balloon? If you look closely, you can see Batman's arms on it Another Clear UAP caught on film flying by Airplane! Justin Trudeau says a United States F22 has shot down the UFO over the Yukon Lake Huron object was “shaped like an octagon” and was at an altitude of 20,000ft WHITE HOUSE: No indication of ETs over the United States Neil Degrasse Tyson explains why Oumuamua is probably not alien... and gets brutally shutdown UFO / UAP filmed with good quality in slow-Motion. At the Miami air and sea show. Listener questions:Does Andy Believe that humans have been able to back engineer a UFO and currently have that technology? My own thoughts are that it's folk seeing something that seems odd and instantly think it's Martians. If there was really something out there surely they would send small probes like we do? As for area 51, it's where they devise all the new planes, so probably that. What about all these UFOs that appear from the sea? Has he researched any of these types of sightings? Do you believe that at least some UFOs are extraterrestrial? Ever had a close encounter, if yes, ever been probed? 22 May 2023 | Words That Don’t Mean What You Think They Do | 00:43:26
If there’s one thing that’s sure to irritate a nit-picking grammar pedant, it’s someone saying that they “literally” jumped out of their skin, or that they “literally” died laughing. Elsewhere in the dictionary there are plenty of words being misused and misinterpreted, many of which aren’t anywhere near as well-known or as easy to spot as literally—and so might find their way into the day-to-day language of even the most careful grammarians. 18 Jul 2022 | Parasite: A Masterpiece Of Dark Humor And Social Commentary | 01:22:50
In “Parasite,” South Korean director Bong Joon-ho presents a darkly humorous tale of two families – one wealthy and one struggling to make ends meet. The Kim family, our protagonists, are an example of the latter, living in a cramped basement apartment and hustling to make a living. In stark contrast, the Parks are the epitome of wealth and privilege. Living in a luxurious mansion, they are entirely unaware of the struggles of those less fortunate. As the film progresses, the lives of the two families become intertwined in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Throughout “Parasite,” Bong Joon-ho expertly explores the complex dynamics of class struggles and the vast divide between the rich and poor. The film is a biting critique of a society that values wealth above all else, and a commentary on the lengths that people will go to in order to secure a better life for themselves and their families. From start to finish, “Parasite” is a rollercoaster of emotions – a deft blend of comedy, tragedy, and suspense. Bong Joon-ho expertly balances these elements, keeping the audience on the edge of their seat one minute and doubled over with laughter the next. In conclusion, “Parasite” is a masterpiece of dark humor and social commentary. With its talented cast, sharp writing, and insightful exploration of class struggles, it’s a film that is sure to leave a lasting impression long after the credits roll. 09 Jan 2023 | The Tragic Tale of Joan of Arc's Unjust Trial and Legacy | 00:36:23
Joan of Arc, also known as the Maid of Orleans, was a young woman who rose to fame during the Hundred Years' War between France and England. She is widely regarded as a heroine and a symbol of French patriotism, but she also had a dark chapter in her life. The trial of Joan of Arc is one of the most notorious examples of injustice in European history. In this article, we will delve into the details of her trial and explore the reasons why she was considered a heretic. After being captured by the English in 1430, Joan was imprisoned and put on trial for heresy. Despite her many attempts to escape, she was eventually put in the hands of the Inquisitors, who subjected her to brutal interrogation and torture. The purpose of these tortures was to extract a confession of heresy, which would allow the English to justify her execution. The charges against Joan were numerous and baseless. She was accused of dressing as a man, a crime in the eyes of the church. She was also accused of claiming to have been sent by God on a mission to expel the English from France, which was considered blasphemy. Despite her many attempts to clear her name, the Inquisitors were determined to find her guilty of heresy. The trial of Joan was a farce of justice, with the outcome predetermined by the Inquisitors and the English. Joan was given no opportunity to defend herself or call witnesses in her defence. The verdict was a foregone conclusion, and she was sentenced to death by burning at the stake. This tragic event took place on May 30, 1431, and marked the end of one of the most inspiring figures in French history. Despite her tragic end, Joan of Arc remains a symbol of courage, bravery, and patriotism for the French people. Her story continues to inspire generations and her legacy lives on to this day. She is remembered as a hero who fought for her country and her beliefs, and who suffered greatly for it. Get bonus content on PatreonHosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

29 Nov 2021 | History: Military Deception | 00:50:35
Full show notes - Military Deception Throughout the Ages Military Deception (MD) has been used for centuries as a tool to defeat the enemy. 5th century Chinese military strategist Sun Tzu wrote in his now world-famous book The Art of War about the importance of deception and espionage to the war effort, and as a result of this military tacticians throughout the millennia have placed a heavy focus on deception as a key wartime tactic. Despite this, there has been a somewhat understandable lack of development in the theory and study of MD, as demonstrated by the fact that NATO have not yet even developed a universal code of MD. Even within various militaries there is a lack of direct understanding about deception and how they may face or use it.
