Every individual is different, and every knee is different as well.
However, these 5 exercises I reveal are truly some of the best exercises to alleviate knee pain and get your knees to start movin’ and groovin’ like you want them to!

8: Unconventional methods for neck pain relief

Chronic pain affects 1 in 4 people in the world! It affects 80x more people than Covid-19. And it is something I've dedicated my life to solving. I also dealt with years of chronic neck and back issues, and it was so painful, that I contemplated not having kids. Or I thought to myself "if I were to have kids, I wouldn't be a good father cause I wouldn't be able to do things with them without pain".

Carly Brown - How she overcame chronic pain & tips for long term health in 2023 || WBWL Ep. 12

In this episode, Carly Brown, a current member of the Pain Free Academy community, shares her emotional journey through chronic pain. Carly is a busy mom and digital marketer from the UK; her journey is similar to many of our other clients.
For years, she struggled with chronic knee pain and felt disabled at the age of 21. She was diagnosed with early knee arthritis, and for close to 10 years, she consistently was let down by her country's healthcare system. As a mom of 2, she was unable to kneel, play, or squat down to play with her kids, and she was fearful of doing any exercises that would worsen her pain.
After finding Dr. Jay, through a hashtag, she joined the Pain Free Academy, and was able to lower her pain levels from an 8 to a 2 in her first day as a member. She continued to progress and is now lifting weights, running, and being the version of 'mum' she always wanted to be.

How I lost 14 pounds in under 3 months (3 Weight Loss Principles) || WBWL Ep.21

In this episode, I want to share with you 3 life long weight loss strategies that I used to lose 14 pounds in under 3 months.
As of Dec 1st, I was 171 pounds after my Disney cruise with family. Now, I am around 157 with still some weight to lose before I decide I’m satisfied with my goal.
I’ve heard of many fads out there, and I’m sure you’ve tried some with success but then the weight magically reappeared.
Or you have lost weight before, but it felt unsustainable and felt like you had to “suffer” to reach your goal.
I currently am sitting at a very comfortable body weight and under 12% body fat, while still enjoying my workouts, the foods I eat, and I do not restrict myself from foods I love. Name ice cream (LOL).

And you’re still continuing to have pain despite you following this statement, there’s a huge issue obviously.
As a pain relief coach and clinical doctor, I hear this statement so often amongst my clients and many accept it to be true because everyone that you know including your grandma says this!
I want to highlight 3 very important reasons why you should stop following this statement. I want to share if you could think differently and start replacing this statement with other more empowering statements, it can be the key to pain freedom for you.
It was one of the keys that helped me to escape 5 years of chronic neck and back pain. And that key was throwing this statement, “if it hurts, don’t do it” out the window and introducing a new version of myself not burdened by or fearing pain.

Here are 5 tips to relieve pain from the comfort of your home, on your time, without manual therapy.
Manual therapy is just one way to get relief. Oftentimes, it is more of a temporary solution because there is no active involvement in you doing much for relief.
So these are all physical action-type items and mindset tools to keep you moving pain-free!
Note: some of the tips I provide require purchasing something, but all are cost-effective and cheaper than multiple sessions to a manual therapist.

I break down what femoracetabular impingement (aka FAI) entails, who is prone to getting it, what are the symptoms and ways to confirm if you have FAI, and the best treatment protocols to get relief from FAI.
In general, this is what I refer to as hip impingement. It is very common to get hip impingement, occurs in over 60% of adults over the age of 30-35!

From Severe Back Pain To Pain Free Lifting & Hiking | Ray Ep. 45

How family drives me to be brutally consistent || WBWL EP 46

Wanna know the secret sauce to being consistent with exercise?
Many will have different driving factors.
Some just wanna look good, but in my opinion, it’s a shallow factor and therefore you can become inconsistent.
Some are motivated when they’re in pain. When pain is bad, you do something about it!
But when there’s little to no pain, many will become inconsistent or stop exercising because the pain’s not there anymore.
So how can you stay brutally consistent so that you can live longer, be healthier, and not fall ill or disabled with getting older?
For me, it’s family.
I share my driving factors as to what makes me so consistent that I guarantee I’ll always be healthy and fit as I get older.
It’s a bit of an emotional episode talking about family and all.
But I hope it inspires at least one person that listens.

Neck pain relief & neuropathic arm weakness || Larry Ep 47

This was an amazing interview with one of my most ambitious clients, Larry, who suffered with neck pain that became so bad that he lost strengthen in his dominant arm.
The neck has delicate relations to the nerves that go down the arm and control sensation and motor control. So when nerves are pinched acutely or chronically over time, it can lead to temporary but sometimes permanent weakness of your arm.
This was Larry’s fear, considering how often he used that arm for weight training, exercise, and being at the computer for his job.
After weeks of working with him, we were able to eliminate majority of his neck pain, restore function in his arm, and get him back to a state of normalcy.
I’ve been thankful to meet people like Larry who was ambitious enough but brave enough to seek out rehab and coaching outside of traditional means to get him to his health goals.

If you're short on time and never feel like you have a chance to breathe or to get in exercise, I'll teach you a few strategies I use to maximize my time.
Since we need to spend time to get rid of our pain, exercise more, we need to have a better footing or control of our time.
I say this to my clients is that time spent in pain is time spent away from things you truly want to do.
So rather than delay things and wait for pain to worsen --i.e only uses more time in your life...
It's better to learn these strategies and create more time to incorporate pain relief strategies.

Unconventional Methods To Relieve Neck Pain || EP 51

How to overcome chronic pain & tips for long term health with Carly Brown || WBWL Ep. 59

For years, she struggled with chronic knee pain and felt disabled at the age of 21. She was diagnosed with early knee arthritis, and for close to 10 years, she consistently was let down by her country's healthcare system. As a mom of 2, she was unable to kneel, play, or squat down to play with her kids, and she was fearful of doing any exercises that would worsen her pain.

The risk of NOT weight training || WBWL Ep. 81

There’s a lot of things that are risky in life.
But there’s not a lot of things more risky than NOT weight training.
It’s imperative that everyone with arms and legs should indoctrinate weight training into their life at least 3-5 days per week.
As someone who’s helped thousands of people do things such as return to running, lose 10-30 lbs, reverse diabetes, overcome cancer-related weakness or neuropathy, get back to playing with their kids…
All these people who we’ve helped achieved these goals through weight training.
Weight training is not the only form of exercise out there, and there are other factors involved to enhance your health…
But there are not many as potent and beneficial.
I get a little raw and dark in this episode, and we may go down some paths that you don’t wanna head down.
But I hope it compels you to incorporate some form of weight training in your life today.

Neck Pain Relief Neuropathic Arm Weakness with Larry || WBWL Ep 83

This was an amazing interview with one of my most ambitious clients, Larry, who suffered with neck pain that became so bad that he lost strengthen in his dominant arm.
The neck has delicate relations to the nerves that go down the arm and control sensation and motor control. So when nerves are pinched acutely or chronically over time, it can lead to temporary but sometimes permanent weakness of your arm.
This was Larry’s fear, considering how often he used that arm for weight training, exercise, and being at the computer for his job.
After weeks of working with him, we were able to eliminate majority of his neck pain, restore function in his arm, and get him back to a state of normalcy.
I’ve been thankful to meet people like Larry who was ambitious enough but brave enough to seek out rehab and coaching outside of traditional means to get him to his health goals.

Chronic pain is something that many people have or deal with in their lives.
There's are a large majority of these individuals who identify with chronic pain.
Chronic pain "sufferers" embody chronic pain, and they interweave it into every facet of their lives, from the things they do, the conversations they have with people, the communities and forums they join, etc. And this has a tremendous impact on your quality of life, as well as lowering the possibility of you ever getting rid of chronic pain for good.
