21 Oct 2022 | Plant Magic and Surrendering to Self with Heather Paulson | 01:15:33
Dr Heather Paulson is a retired Naturopathic doctor who experienced the healing power of Ayahuasca and could not go back to her “normal” life. After traveling the world with a Peruvian Ayahuasquero and seeing the healing power of plant medicine with over 1,000 people she settled in Peru and has since opened a healing retreat centre in the Sacred Valley of Peru that offers small ceremonies of Ayahuasca called Hampuy House. At Hampuy House, Heather supports people in letting go of the emotional and physical blocks preventing them from fully experiencing life. In this potent podcast ep, Heather and I dive into: - Heather’s dark night of the soul, combining the losses of her marriage, access to financial security, her car and having a tree leave a gaping hole in her home - Her realisations around her own part in a codependent/narcissistic relationship dynamic - A pivotal fork in the road moment where Heather realised she did not know who she was, what her likes and desires were and how she’s paved a way back to her Self - Revelations around her fierce independence being the shadow side of codependency and how she learnt to replace this with community and co-operation - recovering from her identity as an over-caregiver and overachiever - And ultimately the surrender and trust that emerged through this tunnel of trauma that led Heather as if by magic to her opening her healing centre Hampuy House If you’ve wondered if your relationships with others, and your Self are healthy, and if you really can believe in magic, this is the medicine your soul needs. 09 Jan 2023 | The Menopausal Magic of "I have arrived" with Jeanne Cotter | 01:06:53
Jeanne is a friend I knew on the Sunny Coast yonks ago and have reconnected with since she moved into my neighbourhood a bit over a year ago. She's 61 and she's the perfect example of who I want to be when I grow up - radiant, joyful, unapologetically her Full Self! She also happens to be an amazing artist, and someone who has reignited in me a deep yearning for creativity just for the sake of play and self expression. In our episode, Jeanne and I dive into so much - menopause, marriage, manifesting, and all sorts of magic- including: - Jeanne's first (abusive and dysfunctional) marriage at 21, swiftly followed by a baby at 23 and divorced at 24, and a second (stale, dysfunctional) marriage at 25 which lasted for 26 years; and how when her youngest left home she decided to leave too. - how a deep knowing that it was time to be free and finally find out how to be by herself emerged from the culmination of quitting smoking (Jeanne says healing addiction creates so much more space in the mind and it was on quitting that she found her superpowers), her Dad being critically ill and her failing marriage - the leap of faith that saw Jeanne start her own graphic design business, and how hard and lonely that was at times, but how her drive for security drove her early business journey and money making drive - all the subsequent nudges, Universal winks and gut-led leaps which has led Jeanne to not only circle back to living in the same city she raised her small children in, but also meet her husband and find her dream house - how Jeanne asks her angels and guides for specifically what she wants, and the very detailed manifestation list - including perfect teeth! - that led her to meet her soul mate Brian and get engaged after a whirlwind 3 month courtship - how as part of her journey, she discovered art, which had always been part of her in many different ways through her life, and how she described discovering in her late 40s soft pastels as "feeling like something had woken inside of her" - Jeanne's firm anchor belief that by trusting serendipity or coincidence to work it's magic, your life will unfold as its meant to and how trusting herself finds her at 61, blessed to be living her best life with gratitude and joy. You can find Jeanne's divine art skills - including online tutorials at Delicious Art.

15 Feb 2023 | Perimenopausal Mental Health: My Personal Journey with Kylie Patchett | 00:49:58
Host Kylie Patchett's vulnerable share around her personal journey through the mood and mental health impacts of perimenopause, including: - How as a biologist I am a little embarrassed to share how blindsided I was by some of the changes perimenopause have brought to me and why I'm so passionate about making sure women in their 30s are forewarned and therefore forearmed - My decision to share the truth in my own journey in the hope that it helps others to be honest, to seek support and understand the factors which can influence mental health and mood - The fact that I fell off a self-confidence cliff and walked through a deep valley of self doubt recently, and how deep emotional pain and grief from childhood came bubbling to the surface - and how I chose to deal with it in a completely new gentler way - A word on trauma and how deep emotional pain can rise to the surface to be healed when we are more vulnerable to stressors and less able to "shove" emotional down with busy-ness or distraction - How the same Self Care principles in my first book have become the framework for me to create a deeper keel of self care to cut through the sometimes stormy seas - How I've come to understand that the impact on perimenopause on my mental health is a perfectly timed invite to deeper self compassion and a gentler way of being - My friends in their 50s on the other side of Menopause and how they've helped me to see the same patterns of inability to cope and intolerance to stress about 5 years ago when they were about where I am now .. and the renewed lease of life these women which reminds me "this too shall pass" How this entire process has resulted in a free guide for you called "Stand Take + Stake a Claim on your Delicious Midlife"

20 Feb 2023 | On Voice and Vulnerability with Kris Emery | 01:14:52
Kris Emery is a non-fiction editor for entrepreneurs, writers and speakers who are self-publishing for the first time. With 12+ years of working with words and a masters degree in linguistics and language analysis, Kris helps her clients write something they can be proud to put out there. After writing and editing corporate communications, websites and self-published books for blue chips to bestsellers, it’s still Kris' favourite part of the project when my clients see their edits and say, “It sounds just like me, only better.” Well, we started off on a riff about bending to others needs and the burnout that (almost always) follows, and ended up deep diving into all sorts around voice and vulnerability, including: - How when Kris turned 40 she had a line in the sand moment of realisation that she had been keeping small, and not speaking up, and the deep grief that has emerged from feeling like she has wasted so much time not using her voice - The distinction between finding your voice and finding it and learning to honour it, and how setting and keeping relationship boundaries has been a big part of Kris' journey since - The beautiful flip side of intimacy which has developed as a result in her relationships and feeling far more connected to her loved ones than she has felt in her whole adult life - Lessons from exploring vulnerability and voice inside of pre-marital counselling with her then fiancée now husband, and how this shared dedication to honouring their voices inside of their relationship has helped them to become more aware of their own unhelpful patterns - Finding your voice in business, and how Kris (like me) is allergic to creating content "on demand" and how she using her heart to inspire sharing helpful resources through a well of generosity, rather than expecting her muse to show up on schedule

23 Feb 2023 | Recognising and Releasing Sacred Rage with Nic Liddell | 01:14:15
You first met the always inspiring Nic Liddell and her story of Rock Bottom to Raising with Resilience back in episode 15. If you haven't listened already, head over here And OMG did we go deep - initially our thoughts were speaking about anger, the purpose of anger and the ways in which we must learn to allow it to rise to the surface to be cleared, especially if that deep-seated emotion is originating in family patterns from decades ago (as it often is). In this ep we speak about: - Nic and my personal experience of anger and rage rising to the surface during the perimenopause transition and our theories on unexpressed patterns of being unseen and unheard which create layers and layers of anger that we do not get to process as little people, but does not magically disappear - How our very understandable and even "justifiable" rage often shows up with shame attached, conditioned by the very early message of girls needing to be "nice, polite, quiet and passive" - The pattern of passive aggression which can emerge if we deny our anger, because these emotional charges have to come out somewhere even if we do not choose to honour and express them in healthy ways - Nic's anger at the external misogyny and unconscious bias out there, her resulting demonisation of other women, and how this turned to internalised misogyny and anger at herself for believing the societal BS in the first place - Our definition of stress and how our expectations around how we "should be feeling" holds us in a perpetual state of stress, until we surrender to the truth of our full, uncensored emotional experience

We speak about: - A huge Universal curveball at the age of 22, and the recovery process which led Ezzie to study many different forms of alternative healing including Vipassana, meditation, cosmology and Kabbalah, and how Ezzie feels tremendously grateful for this first initiation point in her life which sent her on the path to the magical life she has created today - Ezzie’s background in law, her PhD in Therapeutic Jurisprudence (FYI, that means using the law as a vehicle for healing for those of you who like me had no idea that word means!) and the golden threads which connect her early work with the work around power and love to the deep work she does with her clients now around self love and relationships - Her early period of burnout during her law career, and the thirst for feminine wisdom and how this, together with an early connection to the lunar cycles, led to Ezzie writing her first book, which was a runaway success - The second initiation point in Ezzie’s life when her business took off like a fast train, the confronting reality of wanting to be of service to the thousands of people who arrived in her orbit very quickly, and how this led Ezzie to go on a journey to unlock self forgiveness, and ultimately self love, and realise the power of being a true creatrix - Ezzie’s next level work in the Unconscious Vows, and the emotions which can indicate blocks or unconscious barriers to self power (guilt and shame) and personal power (anger and fear) and the process of resolving internal discord to come to a place of living from the Authentic Self - Her delicious feeling of being in fulfilment and contentment, a deep knowing that she has done what she came her to do, and the grounded feeling of being able to both trust herself and trust life. Oh my stars, this one will land in your hearts and ears and reverberate its wisdom for a very long time indeed. Enjoy and go find Ezzie and all her magic online here.

10 Apr 2023 | She is Seen: Consumerism and our Sense of Self with Libby Tozer | 01:07:24
Libby Tozer is a photographer, writer, founder of the She Is Seen Movement. She lives, works, and surfs on Ngarrindjeri and Kaurna Country on the Fleurieu Peninsula of SA where she is also raising her daughter. I was looking forward to this interview so much. I came across Libby through a friend of mine who took part in the She Is Seen festival last year. I met her just after she had literally walked down the street in her black knickers and bra with about 180 women. She was so lit up by the experience of body positivity and women coming together to celebrate each other in a warm and welcoming environment - so I knew this interview was going to be really, really special. Here's what we chatted about: - The gentle leap of faith that Libby took when she sold her house, bought a campervan and a camera and taught herself how to take photos for her book Through Her Eyes - How this initial small group of nude photographs has grown to be the She is Seen movement: a community of women stepping into themselves and being seen in all their beautiful, imperfectly perfect glory - How our environment and society we live in convinces us to reject ourselves and that our feelings of not being good enough are driven by the consumerism, ageism, and the beauty and diet industries - Libby’s reflections on the She is Seen festival experience, how she finds the collective energy difficult to handle and how the beautiful team of volunteers has grown up around her to support her and this collective. We also dive into activism, plastics in the ocean, environmentalism, seed saving and so much more this is a beautiful episode and I'm really, really grateful to Libby for sharing her story. 12 Apr 2023 | Gently, Gently: On Sabbaticals and Slowing Down with Tracey Richards | 01:16:20
Tracey has been a close friend of mine for over a decade and I wanted her to share a very freaking difficult journey through Perimenopause - a lot of what she went through was harder due to not understanding what to expect and how it could show up. Her gift always has been Creative Abundance, and some of the ways this is expressed is the labels of Artist, Designer, Deep, Deep thinker, Human Design and Astrologer, Healer and Keeper of the Keys. In truth, this woman is less about labels and more about a flow of feminine fierceness and more recently feminine flow and I am super loving on all the wisdom we dived into in this chat, including: - Tracey colliding with perimenopause at time in life where she was also juggling four kids, two businesses, debilitating fatigue which was labelled chronic fatigue and a hubby that worked away in the mining industry - it was a LOT, and as a result difficult to even know what was chronic stress, what was living on adrenaline and what was perimenopause. - Her recent realisation that she has been living in chronic fight or flight adrenaline city since she left her first marriage which involved domestic violence, when she had four kids under nine, and how at the time this trauma was brushed under the rug by family members. - How the pattern of brushing stuff under the rug continued, with Tracey not being fully aware of some of the traumatic and challenging stuff she had lived through until perimenopause forced all the old stuff to the surface to be dealt with. - How Tracey gifted herself a 6-month sabbatical, which grew into a year, and how now after about 16 months she is slowly feeling her energy and creative spark return. - The discomfort that came to the surface with the old stories of “I should be doing”, “I need to make money”, “I must create art” at the beginning of her time out which slowly over time softened into the awareness that she could go gently, gently instead. - How Astrology and more recently Human Design have helped Tracey makes sense of herself and her design and a little segue into current astrology as a result of some weird stuff waking Kylie up in the middle of the night the night before! If you are in the middle of the 'I just cannot deal stage' and your soul is calling for true rest and true surrender, this episode is specially for you. 19 Apr 2023 | Top Ten Reasons Why Women Won't Take Care of Themselves with Kylie Patchett | 00:47:47
Your VERY NATURAL response is going to be: - Pick the baby up and snuggle it close - Use your voice to soothe and calm - Cuddle / rock / sway / change movements to settle - Respond to actual physical needs - hunger, thirst, nappy change - If it’s in an environment which cool be uncomfy (too loud, hot, cold, exposed) move to somewhere new - Take baby to their mum/dad/familiar caretaker What you WOULD NOT do is: - Ask that baby to earn your care - Tell the baby to get over itself - Ask the baby to look after you instead - Get angry or upset that the baby needed care Why then do we do this to ourselves? We withhold love + acceptance + self care for so many reasons. Feeling into SOOTHE self care immersion and the convos I am having with women who are on the cusp of investing in their own self care, and there are themes in the surface objections why this is not available / possible / ok to do, so I recorded a solo ep on just that. Here’s the Top Ten reasons Why Women Won’t Take Care of themselves: - Numbing - Conditioning - Identity - Leaky Boundaries - No reference point - Poor self worth - Feeling Selfish - Have to Earn it - No bandwidth - Thinking feels safer All very real, all very “sensible” objections. But what if I told you the very way to unravel old hurts to let go of stuff that ins’t you anymore to ride the waves of this discombobulating peri rollercoaster with more ease to take care of your own needs as readily as you would that baby was to Have the courage to turn inwards. To connect to your heart. To gently ask your soul “how can I honour your right now?”. And have the tools, the support, the community to be able to respond. Gently. Mindfully. Respectfully?

29 May 2023 | Stepping Into our Power with Tory Archbold | 00:45:53
As CEO and Founder of Powerful Steps, host of podcast Powerful Stories and founder of brand and communications agency Torstar, it comes as no surprise that Tory Archbold has met some of the world’s most influential celebrities, entrepreneurs, and CEO’s. But the reason for Tory’s long-lasting connections is not for the many accolades she has under her belt. It’s because of her authenticity and genuine care she shows for others. Through sharing her story of survival, of being a single mother determined to succeed, she has encouraged others along the way. I found Tory when I was researching for a book project on Perspectives, connected online and reached out to have her on the show. I loved this chat with Tory and was so inspired by the real openess and heart-connection with which she shared her own journey to power and the big why behind the work she does in the world. We chat about: - A young Tory, her early big visions for life which led to a European adventure and a stellar career, and how she was always supported by her grandmother, who told her she could achieve anything she dreamt of. - How building a super successful PR company from age 24 led Tory to downsize two decades later, and how the launch of Flower (drew Barrymore’s brand) in Australia played a role in this game-changing decision - The three key blocks to women standing in their power: playing the victim card, a lack of self trust and fear of being judged - and how they get in the way of creating their desired life and business - How one of Tory’s key beliefs “evolution is possible for everyone” has inspired and influenced her daughter’s own life experience - Tory’s book just released “Self Belief is Your Superpower” and the advice from a Hollywood A-lister about releasing a book with a pink cover, which she was very happy to later disprove! her book Self Belief is Your Superpower here

12 Jun 2023 | Freeing Our World from Patriarchy and Other Systems of Oppression with Samantha Nolan Smith | 01:25:59
Samantha Nolan-Smith believes we can reshape the world when more diverse voices and perspectives are shared and heard. She knows that as we break through the silencing influences that have been plaguing women for millennia (hello patriarchy), new ways of living, working, and relating to one another and to the planet, will become apparent. What she also knows is that we cannot do this individually. The collective voices of women must be expressed. It's time for us to speak up. Our rich conversation covers: - Samantha’s shift from a 20 year old high functioning, type A young woman who battled on the inside with depression and anxiety, and did not feel safe in her body to the 50 year old thought leader full of quiet power and deep self trust, anchored in her own identity and intrinsic value. - How the patriarchy (which is first evidenced almost 4500 years ago in writings from the Sumerians which speak about a woman being hit in the mouth with a brick for speaking out) influences and shapes both our boys and girls and forms a system of oppression - Samantha’s journey through chronic fatigue and how she was forced to feel the emotions from big T and little t traumas in earlier life, her gentle path forward and the way this has informed her quiet, safe, simple environments she has created for herself - including the way in which she does business. - The important of not only healing our individual stories around not taking up too much space but also healing the collective stories we have been conditioned to believe - My own personal chiropractic adjustment of the soul moment when Samantha says “It is a radical act to centre yourself in your life and then take up space from there”. I don’t know about you, but that will stay with me for a very very long time indeed. You can find Samantha and the work she does in the world online here

26 Jun 2023 | Soothing our Nervous Systems with Francine Forde | 01:27:23
France Forde is a Craniosacral Therapist, Intuitive Channel and Facilitator who provides her services In person (London, UK) and Worldwide (via Zoom). Fran happens to also be neurodivergent and coming to us from the "other side” — yes indeed people, Fran is post menopausal! Fran generously gifted me a craniosacral session with her prior to our interview and you can tell from my voice just how chilled my nervous system as a result. The session felt to me the perfect blend of the anatomy and straight science behind the nervous system and the intuitive woo woo side that Fran has naturally had from a young age where she speaks to your spirit guides and support team. My Dad turned up in my session saying he always has my back and Fran told me exactly where he was touching me - the same place that I have two previous experiences of the sensation of being hugged from behind by him whilst driving. In this episode, we cover - Fran’s turning point where her perimenopause symptoms, a break up, memory and concentration issues and hating her job all collided in a cry out for change one night whilst speaking with a friend; and how as a result Fran left her relationship, shifted homes, and changed careers - The mental health symptoms, together with always running hot, putting on weight, not feeling in control of her physicality which all culminated with her daughter telling her “you look like you’re dying” - and how in a way, she was (in terms of old self death, new self in process) - The mental health impacts of perimenopause we need to be speaking about: including panic attacks, depression, anxiety, loss of confidence, memory and condition issues and questioning our lives and identities. - Our nervous system: what it is, how it becomes dysregulated and simple ways to tend to our nervous system ourselves on a day to day basis - How trauma is stored a cellular level, so whilst we can “think” we are over something, our body may have a very different opinion - how our systems can be so attuned to living in chaos, we do not recognise we are in a heightened state, the lasting impacts of the pandemic on our nervous systems Find Francine and her work in the world on Facebook here: and on Insta here: or reach out directly by email here

28 Aug 2023 | Taking Care of Me: Midlife Self Care and Advocacy with Nikki Parkinson | 01:03:45
Nikki Parkinson, 56, is a former journalist-turned blogger, author and now fashion designer. At the core of all that she does is her love of helping and supporting women to find greater confidence through their everyday style and the life they lead. In 2019, Nikki launched her own fashion label, Styling You TheLabel, offering Australian-made, non-boring wardrobe basics that take the stress out of the what-to-wear question. She has long advocated for a disruption in the way that fashion is marketed to women. Styling You The Label is the first label globally to invest in showcasing its designs on every size that it sells–size6-20. Not only does that increase customer confidence but it flips the idea that fashion should only be seen on one size, height, age, colour, belief or ability.
We further venture into the significance of advocating for women's health and the future. As women, we often sideline our own needs, which can be detrimental to our health and well-being. We discuss the importance of breaking this cycle, for our own benefit and that of future generations. Nikki shares her thoughts on how we can approach the topic of menopause with our daughters and help normalise these conversations.
The conversation then shifts to Nikki's experiences running a business and the challenges she faced, particularly with the changing economic landscape. She offers valuable insights into maintaining mental health while adapting to these changes. Nikki also shares her unique perspective on the relationship between women's bodies and fashion, and her commitment to inclusivity through her fashion label.
Wrapping up the discussion, we talk about the power of sharing experiences and the importance of having a support network, especially during challenging times such as menopause. Listen in as we explore these issues and more.

25 Sep 2023 | Metabolism | Energy | Sleep: The Midlife Trifecta with Lisa Walker | 00:58:50
S12E20 Metabolism, Sleep & Energy: The Midlife Trifecta with Lisa Walker
Lisa is Eir’s co-founder and resident left-brain thinker/big-picture planner. She crossed paths with Eir co-founder Kate working in marketing, and water-cooler chat became a friendship, glued together by their ability to find hilarity in (almost) every situation that comes with feeling constantly foggy/fatigued/frazzled and managing the mental load. The idea for Eir simmered in the background, but eventually the two decided to create a solution for the issues they—and all their friends—were silently battling with.
The knowledge she’s creating something transformative for women is what’s propelled Lisa through about 105875 false starts/mistakes/steep learning curves. Her passion lies in helping women feel normal again (because it’s possible!), and to add a feeling of lightness into every life stage (peri-menopause and menopause included). I loved this chat with Lisa, such a beautiful conversation about life, grief, growth, values and good-ole-fashioned living your life purpose! We chatted about:
- the unexpected 2022 loss of Lisa's husband, and how Lisa made significant life changes as a result (despite the external "this is how you SHOULD grieve" messages she received) - How the idea of Eir Women, a supplement brand Lisa co-founded with friend and ex-colleague Kate, evolved over time through COVID lockdown and how this has been the most brilliant thread for Lisa to anchor to while going through one of life's greatest challenges - The journey from idea to research to market research to formulation which led Eir to be anchored by pillars of metabolism, energy and sleep, rather than the menopausal most-wanted list of hot flushes and night sweats usually bandied about as the most trying pain points of menopause - Plans for the future including women's sexual health support, and how the breaking down of sexual health taboos has opened the door to real conversations about midlife sexual function - Why Lisa and Kate have decided to allow Eir time to unfold and grow organically and just how important it is to them that women have a positive frame of this midlife transition, rather than be smacked in the face by fear-mongering menopause marketing
A gorgeous, heart-felt exchange, and what an honour to be able to share Lisa's story. You can find Lisa and Eir Women online at www.eirwomen.com.au

23 Oct 2023 | Relational Rupture and Repair with Thea Baker | 01:18:11
Relational Rupture and Repair with Thea Baker
Thea is a counsellor and body-based (somatic) psychotherapist with special interests in all aspects women’s health, trauma (PTSD, C-PTSD) and couples/relationship therapy. She works collaboratively with her clients to find a place of healing and recovery.; and she's in it for the long-haul and doesn’t give up easily. Thea is not the kind of therapist that is ok with “feeling better” if better is still a long way off being truly well. Wellbeing is about much more than the absence of disease or illness. It’s a multidimensional mix of getting your physical, mental, emotional and social health in balance. Thea is a noisy advocate about mental health being a part of whole-person health – she believes that we have somehow got into a place where we see physical health in terms of strength and fitness whilst mental health is viewed through a lens of stigma, dysfunction and illness. Thea and I chat about so many aspects of women's health and the transition points of a woman's life, including: - the compounding effect of what we bring to motherhood, including the way we were attached as children and the relational trauma we have experienced - how motherhood and the experience of trying to provide something we did not receive can trigger the wounded parts of us - Internal Family Systems, the functions of our manager and firefighter parts and how it feels to live from our Authentic Self - how attachment will always trump authenticity, and a tiny snapshot of how understanding this unravelled some deep anger towards self for Kylie - the concept from Gabor Mates' body of work "not why the addiction, but why the pain" - creating safe relational spaces, which include both the inevitable rupture and repair of relationships - the function of oestrogen in caretaking and how and why we shed female friendships in midlife. Her capacity to take a dilemma and uncover the way out, is an everyday challenge she sees as part of her role in these dynamic times. For Dee, there is always a solution. A path forward. Dee has studied and applied many modalities over the last forty years and has distilled them down to the basic steps that get results. Connected via a mutual friend and podcast guest, this chat is as ripe and rich as Dee herself. We cover so much in this fireside ep, including: - Life transitions of feeling like you are being threaded through the eye of a needle, in an invitation to let go of all that is not authentic - the powerful purging, cleansing, clearing that Dee went through as a result of tapping into her unfelt anger and the alchemy this provided and - defragmenting lower energies so we are free to come into the resonance of the very heart of us Dee's car rally analogy for the adventure of life and using your "cat's whiskers" aka felt sense to guide you - how as we go through our own journey, we do not heal ourselves, we reveal our true Self - how Kylie does not have a reference point of a well-resourced woman and how Dee is an expander for the younger women coming through

I reached out to Sandy after using HappyPause when I joined the ranks of perimenopausal women suffering from vaginal and vulval dryness. My doctor initially prescribed a pessary of vaginal estrogen but I didn't get much relief and I already knew that Sandy created an all-natural product that works so well after hearing her interview on another pod. We chat about:
Sandy will be back on the show in Season 3 - because we didn't get to chat about her celebrating 50 with 50 bottles of champagne or her great naked coffee challenge in this ep! 18 Dec 2023 | Summer Series: Finding Light in the Darkness with Emma Grey | 01:04:36
Emma Grey is a novelist, feature writer, photographer, professional speaker and accountability coach. She has been writing fiction since she first fell for Anne of Green Gables at fourteen and is the author of the YA novels Unrequited: Boy band meets girl, Tilly Maguire and the Royal Wedding Mess, the non-fiction title, I Don’t Have Time (co-authored with Audrey Thomas), and the parenting memoir Wits’ End Before Breakfast! Confessions of a Working Mum. Along with her schoolfriend, dual ARIA-winning composer, Sally Whitwell, Emma co-wrote two musicals, Deadpan Anti-Fan and Fairytale Derail, based on her teen novels. She wrote her first adult novel, The Last Love Note (released 24th January - order on presale here, in the wake of her husband’s death. It’s a fictional tribute to their love, an attempt to articulate the magnitude of her loss and a life-affirming commitment to hope. Well this was always going to be a beautiful conversation with Emma, a woman I have been connected with via a mutual friend, and last saw in person just before the most unfathomable tragedy struck her life. Since then, I have been observing Emma and her courageous family step through grief, and continually chose, again and again to lean into joy, connection and meaning together. In this episode, Emma shares: - The unexpected death of husband and love her life Jeff when she was 42 and her daughters were in Year 10 and 12 (with all those final exams hurdles) and her son was just 5, and her Mum was progressing with advanced dementia - The impact a comment from Emma’s friend Rebecca Sparrow who lost her stillborn daughter said about wanting her daughter’s death to turn the light up in her life, not down; and the choices she has been making since the day after Jeff’s funeral to make meaning, choose light and focus on joy in each grief-drowned moment - The gift of a major creative endeavour co-writing and launching a High School Musical with school friend Sal and drama teacher Ness in the first year after Jeff’s died and how through the blessings of glitter cannons and disco balls, this provided the perfect distraction from to her overwhelming grief - Emma’s decision to move out of the home where Jeff died and build a new home (starting with literally sitting in the dirt visioning her desires for a light-filled sanctuary) has been an essential step in the grieving process. 25 Dec 2023 | Summer Series: Cut the Crap + Keep Everything Else with Kate Codrington | 01:22:40
Kate is the author of Second Spring: the self-care guide to menopause. Published by Harper Collins, it’s the first book to give a psychological map for menopause, one of the top ten self-help books of 2022 according to The Independent. Kate mentors people in perimenopause and beyond, 1-2-1 online, runs groups, nature-based Yoga Nidra sessions, hosts Life - An Inside Job podcast, and creates multi-level art textile projects. When she’s not doing these things you’ll find her playing in her compost heaps.
- The false concept we have of needing to be improved (Kate says we’re not fixer-uppers!) and how turning our attention inwards to get quiet enough to listen to our intuition and really hear what our bodies need opens a whole new level of understanding and self compassion. - The seasonal approach to our cycles and how we move through very natural phases of Spring and Summer (and more outward focussed attention) to Autumn and Winter (more inwards focussed attention) and how this helps us to understand the unfolding of our journey through the Winter of Menopause and emergence into our Second Spring - The psychological phases of menopause - Separation (Autumn), Surrender and Emergence (both Winter) and Second Spring - and gentle, practical (omg actually doable!) self care suggestions for our own care and support - Kate’s shift from fashion in her 20s to holistic massage and how her work has evolved to include psychotherapy, pregnancy and abdominal massage, menstrual medicine, menopause doula support and yoga nidra - How healing our old wounds is a natural part of the Separation Phase and how this can play out for people with significant big T trauma including PTSD and CPTSD - An overall philosophy on how to soften into Menopause, summarised by Kate’s straight talking advice “Cut the Crap, Keep the Good Stuff, that goes for food, relationships, obligations, all of it” Kate’s mission is to change the way we regard menopause and show us how we can relax into our own, inner authority through our cyclical nature and menopause process. I know the wisdom she shared in this episode will do exactly that. Find Kate on Instagram here and at her web home here

This is a deep, divine story of turning inwards and rediscovering her inner compass, her own direction, and bringing to life work in the world which is profoundly impactful for the couples and women who have the honour of working with her. We dive into: - Janet’s experience of the perimenopause symptoms of flagging libido, the growing anger and resentment towards her partner from “doing it anyway”, which left her feeling broken, bereft and deficient - A deeply touching story of how nature and her cycles provided a turning point in Janet’s journey, the moment she realised she was killing her femininity and the changes she made as a result - The perfection of coming across Diana Richardson’s book The Heart of Tantric Sex and how Janet experienced (with her then partner) Diana’s work in Switzerland, and how she came to be the only Australian facilitator of the Making Love Retreats as a result - Joining with Diana - who she recognised as a sister from the very first time they met - to write their book Tantric Sex and Menopause. Ezzie Spencer’s vision is a world in coherence. She started as a human rights lawyer, and completed her Ph.D in therapeutic jurisprudence for women subjected to abuse. Over the past decade, she has created a body of work in the trilogy of Power, Love and Peace — with a touch of magic - and yes our chat is just as delicious as all of that sounds. We speak about: - A huge Universal curveball at the age of 22, and the recovery process which led Ezzie to study many different forms of alternative healing including Vipassana, meditation, cosmology and Kabbalah, and how Ezzie feels tremendously grateful for this first initiation point in her life which sent her on the path to the magical life she has created today - Ezzie’s background in law, her PhD in Therapeutic Jurisprudence (FYI, that means using the law as a vehicle for healing for those of you who like me had no idea that word means!) and the golden threads which connect her early work with the work around power and love to the deep work she does with her clients now around self love and relationships - Her early period of burnout during her law career, and the thirst for feminine wisdom and how this, together with an early connection to the lunar cycles, led to Ezzie writing her first book, which was a runaway success - The second initiation point in Ezzie’s life when her business took off like a fast train, the confronting reality of wanting to be of service to the thousands of people who arrived in her orbit very quickly, and how this led Ezzie to go on a journey to unlock self forgiveness, and ultimately self love, and realise the power of being a true creatrix - Ezzie’s next level work in the Unconscious Vows, and the emotions which can indicate blocks or unconscious barriers to self power (guilt and shame) and personal power (anger and frustration) and the process of resolving internal discord to come to a place of living from the Authentic Self - Her delicious feeling of being in fulfilment and contentment, a deep knowing that she has done what she came her to do, and the grounded feeling of being able to both trust herself and trust life. Oh my stars, this one will land in your hearts and ears and reverberate its wisdom for a very long time indeed. Enjoy and go find Ezzie and all her magic online here.

15 Jan 2024 | Summer Series: Freeing Our World from Patriarchy and Other Systems of Oppression with Samantha Nolan Smith | 01:28:06
The the collective voices of women must be expressed. Social, economic and political change is needed to address the challenges of the 21st century. Women's voices are critical to ensuring those changes are equitable, innovative, and sustainable. It's time for us to speak up. This podcast episode with Samantha, CEO of the School of Visibility was so thoughtful and thought-provoking, it will be reverberating through my mind and soul for years to come. - How the patriarchy (which is first evidenced more than 4500 years ago in writings from the Sumerians which speak about a woman being hit in the mouth with a brick for speaking out) influences and shapes both our boys and girls and forms a system of oppression that most of us so familiar with, we cannot see the ocean of conditioning we are living in - Samantha’s journey through chronic fatigue and how she was forced to feel the emotions from big T and little t traumas in earlier life, her gentle path forward and the way this has informed her quiet, safe, simple environments she has created for herself - including the way in which she does business. - The important of not only healing our individual stories around not taking up too much space (being too loud, too enthusiastic, too big, too [fill in the blank here]) but also healing the collective stories we have been conditioned to believe - and our favourite starting point which would be blowing up the good girl BS on all levels - the good mum, the good wife/partner, the good worker, the good friend, the good daughter, the good caregiver, ect etc etc! - My own personal chiropractic adjustment of the soul moment when Samantha says “It is a radical act to centre yourself in your life and then take up space from there”. I don’t know about you, but that will stay with me for a very very long time indeed. You can find Samantha and the work she does in the world online here Also mentioned: Carol Gilligan book “Why Does the Patriarchy Persist?”

A Serene, Spiritual Empowered Guide, Geraldine Crane helps women whose hearts have been hurt by their mothers, to find peace, regain their strength, and develop a loving relationship with themselves by reconnecting them with their inner divinity, their inner resilience, and the love of their spirit guides. Geraldine was introduced to me via our mutual friend Cat Marshall who will be in your ears in another episode coming soon. We chatted for literally 2 + hours meaning Geraldine stayed up till way past midnight so we could connect and let's be honest: compare notes. In this episode. we discuss: - Her professional background as a probation officer, substance misuse officer and Domestic Abuse Recovery worker; and how it was during her time working with domestic violence victims, that she realised a lot of the abuses she was discussing with her clients was all too familiar - How as a result 5 years ago, Geraldine finally cut contact with her mother after her therapist asked her "what would your life look like without your mother in it?" and she realised just how toxic and harmful the relationship had been for her - How this led to a huge healing journey: Her reconnection with her spiritual side, meditating daily and channeling messages and how once Geraldine started reading spiritual texts and working with a 3 Principles coach, she started healing her mother wounds - How the freedom from this relationship led to Geraldine embracing who she was and helping other women to do the same through Serene Spiritual Coaching and Hypnotherapy. - challenging the myth of the "You Must Love Your Mother" and the damage this does when people overlook or are unable to recognise more subtle forms of abuse Phew, if you have a weird, wonky or anything less than warm + wonderful relationship with your Mum, there'd be some GOLD in this one for you no doubt about it.
