If you’ve ever tried to get ice cream at McDonald’s, there’s a good chance you couldn’t because the ice cream machine was out-of-order. Even more frustratingly, these machines can't be easily fixed by McDonald’s employees because the error codes are secret, and can only be read by a repair person from the company that makes the machine. The reason why McDonald's doesn't just supply its franchises with properly working ice cream machines is a conspiracy between two companies that goes very deep.

In 1920’s Los Angeles, a mother/daughter duo of sixty-year-old May Otis Blackburn and her 24-year-old daughter Ruth started a cult called Blackburn with the goal of swindling members out of money. The cult had bizarre rituals, and was connected to mysterious deaths, disappearances, and sex scandals. There was also an attempted resurrection of a 16 year old girl whose corpse had been stored in a wooden box in a makeshift mausoleum underneath her parents' house. Bethel Church in Redding, California is a non-denominational megachurch that has made plenty of headlines over the years. Some claim it’s actually a cult that has huge influence over the city of Redding. In December 2019, two Bethel members tried to resurrect their dead toddler and raised over $70,000 on GoFundMe. Ali and Melissa discuss the Springfield Three case, where three women vanished without a trace. Suzie Streeter and her friend Stacy McCall graduated from high school on June 7, 1992, and went out to celebrate. Around 2:00am they go to Suzie’s house to sleep. Sherri, Suzie’s mother, was also home. Sometime between 2:30am and 8:00am they disappeared. All of their belongings were left behind, and there were no witnesses. The only clues were a broken porch light and a mysteriously deleted message on the answering machine. Was someone in their house waiting to kidnap them? Are they buried underneath a parking lot, like a radar scan apparently showed? We’ve got some theories.

From 1974 to 1987, the Smurl family claimed they were tortured by ghosts and demons in their West Pittston, Pennsylvania duplex. Loud banging and scratching in the walls would keep them up at night. Their dog was even being attacked. Journalists, demonologists, and even the Roman Catholic Church got involved. It caught the attention of the media, which resulted in several published articles, a TV movie, and even paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren agreed to consult on the case. In 1977, three young girls were killed at Camp Scott. Many obvious warning signs were ignored that could’ve prevented this tragedy. A suspect was arrested but questionable police work may have messed up the entire case. Most infuriating of all, parents of the victims found out their children were brutally murdered from seeing it on the news. The entire thing is a nightmare.

On November 22, 1995, filmmaker Allen Ross disappeared without a trace. Allen was part of a religious cult called the Samaritan Foundation, that was led by his wife Linda Greene. Linda believed vampires could gain access to her by talking on the phone, negative energy could be washed away with soy milk, and barcodes were evil. Years later, Allen's body was found, but no one was ever charged with the murder.
