Do You Resist Resistance?

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Okay - I don't mean resisting temptation. Although, that is very wise.

No, I''m talking resistance to the very thing that could help you become a better individual…over and beyond fleeing from the enemy.

If you do, don’t worry you’re not alone.

Resistance can be uncomfortable and that’s why many people tend to stay in a place of ease and contentment. But, resistance in many areas of life can actually help you grow and become stronger.

For instance…mentally, studies prove that when you workout using resistance training one of the most profound effects on the brain is the marked improvement in memory and in cognitive skills. Another bonus to working out over and beyond the physical benefits, don’t you think?

But, what about resistance when it comes to taking that next step that might seem difficult at the time (because of the unknown or the unease of it) to get you to your next leveling of living. That could be in your health, relationships, business, finances, or faith.

It's time to stop resisting important things, like taking action with your health. Or what about having that difficult conversation with a friend or family member, taking a class that could help you advance in your career, or get financial education to better equip your future.

That list goes on, but only you know the area in which you are most resistant. I encourage you to….

GO THERE!

It is "there", in which you will grow and become a stronger and better person. Don’t resist resistance – the resistance will serve you well!

In this eye-opening episode of The Visibly Fit Podcast, I talk with Justin Frandson, an athletic performance coach and electromagnetic fields (EMFs) expert, about the unseen dangers of electromagnetic radiation and its impact on our bodies.

Learn how to detox your home environment, why wearables might be draining your energy, and how EMF Rocks' Grounding Bags infused with unique colloid crystals can shield you from harmful frequencies. Discover practical ways to harness nature’s resources for optimal health and well-being.

If you’ve ever felt fatigued, unbalanced, or just plain curious about the invisible forces around you, this episode will inspire and equip you with the knowledge to take action. Tune in and discover how aligning with God’s creation can transform your health and vitality.

Disclaimer:

As a Bible-believing Christian, I believe that all creation is a gift from God, designed for our well-being and His glory. In this episode, we discuss the natural properties of crystals and other elements in creation. This conversation focuses solely on their scientific and physical properties as part of God’s design, not on any mystical or spiritual powers.

I want to clarify that our faith is in God alone—not in creation or any object. My goal is to explore how we can use the resources God has provided wisely and responsibly for our health while keeping our focus on Him as the ultimate healer and provider. If this topic raises questions for you, I encourage you to prayerfully seek God’s wisdom and discernment as you listen.

07 Jun 2021Episode 6: “Letting Go” with Coach Jeffery Combs00:33:30

Addiction can disguise itself in many ugly little ways. We can see addiction as procrastination, shopping when we're upset, eating our feelings and of course, addictions to drugs or alcohol. But did you know that we can also be addicted to certain emotions?

In almost all cases of addiction, there comes an all time low, or what many of us know as, rock bottom. Jeff hit rock bottom after two years of drug and alcohol abuse. He felt lost, helpless, angry and disconnected. Can you relate to this pain? Have you reached your rock bottom?

Today, we speak to Jeffrey Combs, a man who has a very personal relationship with addiction and recovery. Jeffrey talks to us about the science behind addiction and the ways in which we can free ourselves from our addictive emotions in a process he calls, letting go.

In this conversation, you'll discover...

-Jeff's story from drug addiction and jail to influential letting go coach...04:00

  • Discovered drugs and alcohol as a boost of social courage
  • Going to jail didn't keep him from falling back into addiction
  • Eventually hit rock bottom in California and decided to get clean
  • 33 years clean

-How to transform out of an addiction mindset ...06:05

  • Addictions stem from something far deeper than just enjoying drugs, alcohol, procrastination or avoidance
  • Addiction comes from feeling overwhelm
  • Jeff's work helps people understand the neurological reasons for their addictions
  • If they can break down the problems, they're easier to work through
  • Success comes when you're committed

-Why it feels so difficult to let go...09:30

  • There's a lot of material on the spirituality of letting go, but it's actually a science
  • Addiction gets harder the longer you allow it in your life, the emotion itself becomes an addiction
  • Letting go eventually becomes an attitude, a mindset, a skill

-The relationship between breath work and letting go...13:50

  • Athletes and children experience letting go in breaths
  • Exhales allow the body to release fight or flight response
  • Anxiety and fear is what drives the lower self, which drives the ego
  • Anxiety remains cyclic until you make a change

-Jeff's greatest influencers...17:05

  • Never had a mentor, but books heavily influenced Jeff
  • David Hawkins books: Letting Go and The Map of Consciousness Explained
  • Louise Hay's books
  • John Bradshaw - 1st speaker that covered molestation
  • Napoleon Hill's books
  • Learning that consciousness is a scale will change your life
  • The key: "Live in the solution and not the problem"

-The power of being disciplined...22:05

  • Discipline has more than one meaning
  • As a child, we are conditioned to think discipline = pain
  • As an addict, you are conditioned to think discipline is painful
  • The most challenging addiction = being overwhelmed and unorganized
  • "If you don't have a system to succeed, you have a system to fail"

-What most people don't know about Jeff...27:10

31 Jan 2022Episode 39: Jordan Rubin of The Maker's Diet Shares About Food Being Medicine, Fasting and Best Times to Eat, Born Again Farming and Your Role In It All00:42:40

VISIBLY FIT with guest JORDAN RUBIN

In this episode of Visibly Fit, Wendie Pett sits down with Jordan Rubin, Founder of Ancient Nutrition, one of America’s most recognized and respected natural health experts. He is the New-York Times best-selling author of The Maker’s Diet, 24 additional titles, and his latest release Essential Fasting.

At the age of 19, after living an active, completely healthy childhood, Jordan was suddenly diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. He went from being a 185-pound athletic young man to 104 pounds and in a wheelchair.

A year later, in the midst of a life or death struggle, Jordan met a man who encouraged him to follow a health plan taken directly out of the pages of the Bible. A plan proven through history and confirmed by science. Jordan committed himself to follow God’s wisdom for health and life, and in just 40 days his health was transformed.

Today, Jordan’s mission is to transform the health of this nation and world one life at a time.

Key Takeaways:

The Maker’s Diet. I met a man who told me if follow a health based on the bible, proven through history and confirmed by science I’d be well. I had tried everything, but not this. I think the faith that I had was married with hope, and that hope allowed me to give it one more shot.

Faith comes by hearing the word of God. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith without work or actions is dead. We can’t wait until we are healthy or wealthy or married or reach whatever goal we set, we must have faith in the midst of the storm in order to see it in action.

Speak life. Instead of focusing on the pain we get every 5 minutes, thank God for the 4 minutes we are free of that pain. Use faith not as a defense, but as an offense.

Intermittent fasting. Everyone can benefit from managing their building or eating and their cleansing window. Water fasting has been clinically proven to reduce lots of conditions of the brain and the body.

Farming the future. Many experts agree that if we do not change the way we farm, we only have 40-60 years left. Regenerative agriculture is the key to our future.

Grow something. Even something as simple as growing an indoor potted plant, learn and understand how to grow something.

Compost. 40% of the world’s food is wasted. Give it to a local farm. Instead of letting it be waste, let it add fertility to the soil that desperately needs it.

Eat local. Produce gets picked early because if it were picked ripe there wouldn’t be enough time to get it to market. Nobody advertises “truck ripened” produce, but that is most of what we have. The produce gets robbed of essential vitamins and minerals because of how early it gets picked.

Buy organic. Buy regenerative. Buy local.

Invest in farmland, regenerate something, grow something, you will never regret it.

27 Jun 2022Episode 54: Ways We "Clog" Our Lives, and Steps to Take to Get Unstuck!00:28:23

"It takes a strong heart to thrive on clogged arteries." -Dr. Tim McCarthy

Minnesota is the "land where many are cold, but few are frozen." Yeah, tell me that during the sweltering summer months when the A/C goes out. No snowshoes or cross-country skis to be found anywhere then ha! Yes, Todd and I had our A/C unit conk out on us during a legit heatwave (temps in the high 90s.)

26 Feb 2024Episode 133: Become A Health Advocate00:27:59

In this episode, I'm going to talk openly about something important - being a health advocate. Yep, it's been on my mind lately, especially because my husband and I have been helping out my mother-in-love a lot. And let me tell you, having someone to speak up for you in medical situations is super important.

I'll tell you about my experience helping Todd's mother who's dealing with cancer. It's been tough but taught me a lot about standing up for loved ones when they need it most. I've seen how tough it can be without someone to advocate for you, so I want to stress how vital it is to have support and good communication with doctors.

Personally, I think it's best to care for family at home if possible. It's cozier and more familiar, which can really help during tough times. I'll also talk about why it's essential to be careful with medical treatments and make sure you understand what's going on.

I encourage you to think about being a health advocate for yourself or someone else. It can make a big difference in their journey through illness.

20 May 2022Episode 49: Get Down to YOUR Perfect Weight00:17:36

Get Down to YOUR Perfect Weight.

How Low Should You Go?

What IS your perfect weight? I know you’ve heard people talking about getting down to their ideal weight, but do they really know what it is? Do you know yours?

While an individual person's weight is a personal matter, there are many things to consider and questions to ask yourself such as, "What is it that makes a weight 'perfect' anyway?"

No matter how many questions you come up with, truth be known, there’s only one true answer:  Weight doesn’t matter!

I mean, it does...but it doesn't. Tune in to hear more and how you can stop the daily scale obsession that can often determine the outcome of your mood each day.

By the way, here's a little stat for ya...

According to the World Health Organization, over one billion adults in this world are overweight (and 300 million of those are considered obese). Those are astonishing numbers. How do you get rid of fat? The race is on to burn calories and lose weight, but if we don’t understand where the added weight and calories come from, we might be burning muscle instead of fat.

Exercise for fat loss is different than exercise for weight loss. Tune in to hear more on this quick episode of Visibly Fit to understand how to determine your perfect weight.

02 Oct 2023Episode 113: Tips on "Habit Stacking" for an Optimized Lifestyle 1 Percent At a Time00:19:34

I think most people desire to become better people, better in their health and their well being, better with their relationships, their finances, their faith, better, in just about everything. And yet, in spite of our good intentions, it remains so dang difficult to actually get any meaningful results!

I was recently re-reading the book, Atomic Habits by James Clear. James uses the term "habit stacking" to describe his approach to maximizing productivity and efficiency. With all due respect to James, I prefer the term "net time."

What is "net time?"

It basically means maximizing the "net" amount of things you can get done within a specific period of time.

In this episode, I'll share my thoughts on our most valuable resource, and some "hacks" you can implement to get just a little bit more done today than you did yesterday, and then 1% more tomorrow than you did today, and so on.

Enjoy!

Here's a bit of what you'll hear in today's episode:

-Tips on "implementation clarity"...02:30

-"Net time" to improve your day by just 1%...06:00

-Be considerate of others while doing your net time!...10:55

-What is just one thing you can do today to improve your life by 1%?...14:00

19 Sep 2022Episode 63: Hope Darst Opens Up About Overcoming Anxiety and Depression, and Offers Hope for Those Struggling With the Same.00:53:56

The stats are in, and the message is clear. We're struggling with anxiety and depression. Be it because of social media that gives a compromised sense of "community", or the difficulties brought on by global pandemics, it's a pandemic in its own right.

Thankfully we have the Lord in our corner, and a Word to satisfy longings within that Facebook simply can't touch. Our guest today, worship leader and recording artist Hope Darst, shares her own struggles with anxiety and depression, and how she relied on the Scriptures and God's Spirit to find real joy.

Make sure you tune in to the very end to hear her talent in song. You will be blessed and if you're out walking while listening to this podcast today, it will cause an extra skip in your step today. Guaranteed.

Hope Darst is a worship leader who desires to see people encounter the love of Jesus and be restored and set free in His presence. Whether it's crafting songs for artful expression or corporate praise, Hope's goal is the same - to worship God in everything.

Her latest single, "If the Lord Builds the House", is just another example of Hope's desire to write songs that capture real life experiences while remaining anchored in God's word. This newest release is a bold declaration with lyrics from Joshua 24:15, "As for me and my house we're gonna serve you Lord / So here's the keys / Come on in / Everything we have is yours". Hope tackles the reality that when we try to build a name for ourselves it usually ends up falling apart, but when we chose to allow God to build our lives, nothing can tear it down. Even if we face hardship or storms, the houses of our hearts and minds will stand firm on Him.

While Hope's journey to become a songwriter and recording artist started later than most, Hope feels like she is just getting started and hopes to have the honor of releasing music for a long time. Her newest single, If the Lord Builds the House, was released June 10, 2022. She is currently working on more new music to be released in late 2022 and early 2023.

23 Aug 2021Episode 17: About The Tragic Long Term Effects Of Eating Disorders, How To Heal and What Types of Exercise Are Most Impactful For Anyone00:41:52

If you look at any magazines or any media, television and especially social media lately, you might have noticed that many people look like they weigh a buck-09, right?

Here's the deal, most of the photos that you're seeing on social media or that we see in magazines have been airbrushed. "Forever chemicals," scientifically known as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), are a group of synthetic compounds that are used in pretty much every type of household product imaginable. Non-stick cookware, waterproof clothing, food packaging, and even firefighting foam.

PFAS have garnered long overdue attention due to their persistence in the environment and potential health risks. PFAS have been linked to serious health issues, including hormone disruption, immune system suppression, and an increased risk of certain cancers. These contaminants have the ability to migrate from consumer products into the environment and food chain, ultimately reaching human beings.

In today's episode, I'll share with you some common household items that contain PFAS, some of which may seem to be quite innocuous on the surface, as well as healthy alternatives to them.

Here's a bit of what you'll hear in today's episode:

-A short history of PFAS...01:30

-Is it worth it to use chemical-infused clothes, bedding, even toothpaste?...03:30

-Non-stick pans are not non-chemical!...05:00

-Healthy products might be more expensive, but they're worth it in the long run...07:30

-Chemicals found in our water supply...09:15

-Perfumes, deodorants, makeup containing PFAS...13:40

-We're losing touch with our pheromones with these chemicals...15:00

-The choice is ours to make...18:10

-And much more!

14 Feb 2022Episode 40: A Valentine Episode. Love Is In The Air: How to Get Married in 12 Months or Less with Jackie Dorman00:40:10

Are you looking for love in all the wrong places? Or have you just given up on love altogether? In today's episode, Jackie Dorman, shares from a Biblical perspective about dating and marriage. We talk about how getting healthy and healed at the heart level, as an individual, will open the door for your true "spirit mate" to show up in your life.

A few things we talk about:

Nobody is perfect. As time goes on, we make a long list of things that are “non-negotiable” when in reality, they aren’t.

Marriage is all God ever wanted. God cares most about our relationships, because he created man and woman for each other.

Dating is not for mating. Dating is to get to know yourself, it’s a discovery process of getting to know other people and having fun and learning about the opposite sex and learning about yourself.

Spiritual intuition. When you have a broken heart, that gift will get overextended by trauma and will be taken over by suspicion and you will see problems and danger that are not there.

It doesn't have to be easy, it just has to be worth it. A lot of times people fantasize about "the one for me" or that the love story God has for us will be easy, which is an idea that is not modeled for us anywhere in scripture.

It has to be a yes until it's a no. Give yourself a chance to get to know yourself, to get to this person, don't cut and run at the first sign of danger because you are God-defended.

Break down the walls. The only thing building a wall to keep people out will accomplish is to keep the good ones out, there are dysfunctional people who see those walls as a challenge to climb. You are almost inviting a dysfunctional relationship by keeping those walls up.

13 Dec 2021Episode 33: Consistency Is the Big Payoff00:26:40

I'm going to share a little secret...

I don't do this podcast for you.

I do it for me.

You see, I'm traveling this weekend at a seminar, and had to find a little corner at the venue quiet enough for me to record this week's episode.

Why did I do this? It would have been excusable to just take a week off. I mean, would any of my listeners really be offended if I missed one episode, especially around the Holidays? Probably not.

But I did it because it's important for me to remain consistent.

If I miss just one week, I'm kind of giving myself permission to miss another week. Maybe not right away, but months down the line that rationalization hamster will be spinning its wheel saying, "Hey, you missed that one in December 2021, and no one really cared; go ahead and miss this one too."

It's just not the way I roll, people.

I prefer to stay consistent, and urge my clients to do the same.

So, having said that, enjoy the episode!

17 Oct 2022Episode 66: Want to Hear From God? Meditation Is the Way, And I Will Teach You How!00:29:15

How long has it been since you've done a meditation?

Have you ever done a meditation? If not, you're not alone, and yet meditation is a great way in which God prescribes us to receive what He has to say to us through His Word.

"Keep this book of the law on your lips," says the Holy Scriptures.

We're to attach our mind and spirit on His Word, and meditation is one way God tells us to do so.

In this episode, I will guide you through a short meditation that will give you the space - and the permission - to hear what God has to say to you through His perfect Word.
