Things continue to unravel on Vintage Cinema Rewind's Deep Dive of Francis Ford Coppola's iconic sequel: The Godfather Part II. Michael's quest for vengeance leads him across the ocean to Cuba, where more and more unrest continues to brew. However, his family's weakest link may be even closer than he anticipated. And half a century earlier, Blake finds himself caring for a young family while the criminal element conspires to infiltrate his come. Can Michael salvage this broken empire? Can Blake lay the foundations for this glass castle? Or is everything about to come shattering down around these two men?

This month we're diving into the filmography of Michael Mann. Our first film discussion is centered around the Neo-Noir Crime film Thief (1981), Michael Mann's feature film debut. Starring James Caan, Tuesday Weld and Willie Nelson, this film is rich with characters and rooted heavily in the real life exploits of Chicago criminals which were on set consulting during the filming. This film was a blast to discuss and dive into the making of, it's legacy on Hollywood in the 80's and our own personal reviews.

This weeks primer episode had us shocked that we hadn’t seen it sooner. It’s the 1993 movie True Romance, perfect for Valentine’s Day (at least for the guys) with a star studded cast, that goes against most romance tropes. It’s a hell of a ride from coast to coast with a briefcase full of freedom, starring Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette, with a bunch of appearances from some of our favorite actors and some of Quentin Tarantino’s best written scenes. This week we watched our first animation film, The Iron Giant (1999). A critical darling that nearly faded into obscurity, this film now has a strong cult following and has been referenced countless times since. Staring Vin Diesel, Eli Marienthal and Jennifer Aniston, the film is about a boy with a big imagination in a small town stumbling upon the Iron Giant, a mysterious creature from Outer Space. Full of comedy and heart, we dive into why this film wasn't initially a hit, our favourite moments, and why you should watch it yourself!
