This chat I am joined by the winner of Dancing with the Stars ‘Phil Burton’ who is  best known as a member of the Australian pop vocal band Human Nature.

'Phil Burton' is an absolute delight. He managed to take on fearce competition with the likes of 'Virginia Gay,' 'Mary Coustas,' 'Christie Whelen,' 'Paulini' and runner up 'Emily Weir.' He was the only male left in the competition on Sunday night and with he judges scores and audience participation took out the mirrorball for 2023.

• I will find out if 'Phil' knew that his management wanted all the 'Human Nature' boys in the competition.
• 'Phil' will talk about shedding his inhibitions and if men in 2023 care as much about their masculinity being judged by other men.

TV and Film actress 'Claudia Karvan' joins me to discuss the new 'Stan' original series 'Bump.' Plus we look back at some of her most iconic performances.

Claudia started as a child actor working with the likes of 'Gary Mcdonald' and 'Judy Davis.' Growing up in front of the cameras 'Karvan' became a household staring with memorable films like 'Big Steel' and the 'Heartbreak Kid' but it was a bold move to work in Television as doctor 'Alex Christianson' in 'Secret Life Of Us' (2001) that made the biggest impact on her career. 

The series was a huge hit for 'Network Ten' and the chemistry between the cast was electric. Particularly 'Deborah Mailman' and 'Samual Johnson.'

It was a great turn of events professionally because the series (Secret Life) had a string of widely successful creators behind the scenes. Acting with brilliant scripts written by 'Judi McCrossin' and 'Christopher Lee' and for the first time working with long time collaborator 'John Edwards' A genius in storytelling and producing.   

'In 2003 'John Edwards' encouraged 'Claudia Karvan' to work as a director and producer and in 2014 they both collaborated on 'Love My Way.' Which was an award winning series for 'Foxtel' that wowed audiences and still has a massive cult following. (Even though they only did three seasons.) That series is one of the most powerful TV shows I have ever seen. Which saw her acting alongside 'Dan Wyille,' Brendan Cowell' and 'Asher Keddie.'  

With shows like 'Time of our Lives,' 'Puberty Blues,' 'The Other Guy' and 'Spirited' we have been gifted a catalogue of characters. 

We will talk about all these iconic shows, we will get a back stage pass to reasons and rationals of her most legendary performances.

The new Series 'Bump' is currently on 'Stan Australia' which in my opinion is the best series yet. Claudia is currently in the writers room constructing a fourth season of 'Bump.'

On MasterChef Australia, Jonathan was hoping to get the experience he needs to move from being a carpenter to a chef. His source of inspiration is Andy Allen, a man who went from being a sparky to being one of MasterChef Australia’s current judges.

'Brihony Dawson' who is the host of 'Network Ten’s' latest reality series 'The Challenge.'

'Brihony' is the first non-binary presenter to front a major TV show but they haven't exactly been plucked out of obscurity, as they have been working in media in sport and presenting for a while now but something tells me we are on the verge of seeing this person in mainstream media and along with Australia I think we are here for it. 

'The Challenge: Australia' is an upcoming 'Australian' spin-off of the 'American-reality competition' series also called The Challenge, featuring twenty-two 'Australian' reality, sport stars and celebrities. The series is set to premiere on 'Network 10' onMonday the 14 November and I can not wait!

We will talk about 'Brihony’s' journey to hosting this series, what they knew of the contestants prior to the show, if they get involved they in the drama and what they thought of the most problematic players.

Welcome to TV Reload: What To Watch!

My name is Benjamin Norris and I want to thank-for clicking or downloading on the first episode of TV Reload’s Spin off series!

I am excited to bring you a very different dimension to the podcast this year… where I will unpack and discuss a selection of water-cooler programs that you might be currently watching from around the world

Inspired by his travels, including trips to Europe, Vietnam and Mexico and his time spent living in London, Charleston and Detroit, Lochy loves recreating big flavours at home.

Lochy is an easy-going character in and out of the kitchen, living with no regrets and always looking for the silver lining. His dream is to open a restaurant that speaks to his love of botany, with a kitchen garden in an indoor/outdoor experience with a constantly rotating menu.

Lochy really used this opportunity to help him focus and boy did he do a good job with some amazing cooks. I feel like we are going to see more and more form him after this time on this show. 

• Lochy will unpack everything from Hong Kong, to last year taking some time out and what he thinks is important about food and culture
• We will also unpack cooking shows all over the world and why Australia has nailed this show for so many years.

Married to high school sweetheart Glenn for 33 years, and together for 43, Sue is an extrordnary mum to son and daughter. Most recently, Sue was Head of Customer Experience for a building company, but when its collapse left her unexpectedly unemployed, she was able to reassess her priorities. With the encouragement of all at home, sue took on the Masterchef kitchen and while we didn’t always see a lot of her - I think audiences did really connect with her story.

I loved catching up with Sue today and I am sure you will enjoy our chat which gives us a whole new Sue to fall in love with.

• Sue will talk about her invisibility. What she thought of that nickname, if she felt invisible in the kitchen and how she turned spotting herself into a game.
• We will also unpack the reason why the contestants this year have falling in love with Poh. Who seems to be most of the guests this year’s favourite

On today’s podcast I have Nathalie Morris and Carlos Sanson Jr from the hit series Bump which Stan Australia has released Season 4 today.

The Australian drama is made by TV legends Dan Edwards and his father John Edwards along with Claudia Karvan  and Kelsey Munro. In Bump season four we’ve jumped forward again – this time by two years. Oly played by my guest today Nathalie Morris and Santi played by my other guest Carlos Sanson Jr are back together, having finally stabilised their small family unit with their challenging seven-year-old Jacinda. Oly is now the breadwinner; Santi’s has found himself as the unhappy stay-at-home dad, and the endless interventions from their big mess of a family are going to either make or break them. 

It is delicious writing. Superbly acted and like I said it is the perfect escapism at this time of the year.   

• We will talk about the casting of both their roles. Nathalie will talk about the way in which she created the character of Claudia Karvan’s daughter Oly and which of her iconic roles she watched to get inspiration. 
• Carlos will share his journey with the character and while it is widely know that Natalie has had an obvious mentor of the show - he will reveal who has been a true inspiration for him too.

We will mainly talk about 'The Traitors' but I want you guys to know that there is so much more to Keith and I suggest searching for his guest appearances on other podcasts because he so much to offer which would have been hard to include in an exit interview like the ones I have been doing for 'The Traitors.'

I will be talking about the Kirby’s time in Samoa and of course what she thinks now… the smoke has well and truly been snuffed out on his touch. 

Australian Survivor: Titans V Rebels is a showdown that pits the winners against the underdogs and the big wigs against the battlers, with each player competing for the grand prize of $500,000. 

A strategically aggressive player from the start, Kirby used her sociability to arrange numerous blindsides to further herself in the game, though her unpredictability caused her to be embroiled in a rivalry with Feras.

After laying low during the early merge, her strategic position saw a resurgence and she initiated a truce with Feras, realising the mutual benefit of an alliance. 

Laying down their swords, Kirby and Feras proceeded to dominate the endgame until Kirby's target became too great to overlook, forcing her to win the remaining Immunity Challenge to save herself. 

When she lost immunity at the final five, she was voted out unanimously for being the biggest threat in the game.

• We will unpack the Kirby and Feras relationship once and for all and find out where there relationship is at now!

On today’s podcast I have Max McKenna stage and screen actor well known for playing Mural in Mural's Wedding the musical that toured Australia. Max went on to  star alongside Natalie Bassinghtwaighte in Jagged Little Pill which I actually saw five times. Max is also the only child of Gina Riley one of my favourite comedians.

The Christmas feature involves an eccentric grandmother Heather Jones played by Heather Mitchell who finally managed to get her whole family under her roof for Christmas. But all is not as merry and bright in this rural home. At university, he achieved a Master of Accounting degree, but after five years as a government auditor, he has decided to pursue his passion for cooking.

Samantha Armytage is an Australian journalist and television presenter. Sam was previously co-host of the Seven Network's breakfast television program Sunrise from 2013 to 2021 alongside David Koch. Only a few years ago Samantha was slowly integrated into the much loved reality series and last year her inclusion as full time host saw the show rise 16% in its category. 

This season thousands of eligible women from all around Australia applied to meet our farmers and after a series of speed dates in the Hunter Valley, the farmers will choose their top five ladies to invite back to the farm. The ladies will be shown the lay of the land, participate in farm work and go on a series of spectacular dates before the farmers determine if there is enough chemistry to spark a lifelong connection.

During the first two episodes, the five farmers for the 2024 season — Bert, Dean, Dustin, Joe and Tom — must choose five out of their eight ladies to return to their farms across Australia.

This leaves a total of 15 women, who had been hoping to find love, having to head home before their farmer journey can properly begin. It is pretty brutal but I know you guys will love it.

The series drops on ‘Stan Australia’ this week and this show is a little interesting and we will get into that straight away in the podcast but the series is Inspired by true events, it is a six-part “dark comedy” series led by ‘Thomasin McKenzie’ ( who you would know from the popular film ‘JoJo Rabbit’) and explores the complexities of grief, the power of friendship, and the ways our sadness can unite us. The series examines family, legacy and ultimately asks: how many lives do we have to save before we’ll save ourselves?  

I want to pre-warn you this conversation does include a lot of discussion around suicide and suicide prevention.  However, as the show is a comedy drama I want you to know the show isn’t completely gazumpted by the at times bleak subject matter. 

• I will ask ‘Gretel’ about the origin of this story and how much is based on real life events.

There is a very similar style that they both share in my eyes. I think dan is a little edgier with his latest work and I think he has completed some really interesting work on this series - especially giving voice to young people.

‘Year Of’ takes place in the same universe as the hit ‘Stan Original Series Bump’ and is set in and around the senior years of high school – exploring the liminal time between childhood and adulthood and the renegotiations with adults that it brings. 

• Coming up, we will find out what influences Dan has recognised from his father ‘John Edwards’ work.
• We will hear how they created this series and how they managed to create authentic voices for young people in the writers room.

As one of the many athletic women on the Titans tribe, Frankie bonded tightly with Nathan and Jaden. However, her overt cliquishness turned her less physically strong tribe-mates against her, prompting a revolt that ended with her being blindsided. Fanatic TV and a big congratulations to her for bringing us an engaging first episode. 

• Frankie will give us her read on a few controversial topics like who did not do their homework!
• Who is gunning for TV moments and how well suited she was to her theme!
• I will address the cool group take down. Directly ask her if she lacks self awareness and if that played into her blindside?

After surviving a rocky start that almost caused her to be the first person voted out, Jessica was led to believe that she was the head of her majority alliance on the Titans tribe, and her misplaced confidence prompted her to direct the Titans' second vote against Eden. Unsuccessful in rallying the numbers and further burying herself by boasting about orchestrating the previous vote, an oblivious Jessica found herself given the boot instead.

I think these two guest brought a punch to our launch week and I congratulate Jess for playing hard. 

• Jessica will unpack the first tribal council and the aftermath that followed. Nearly all the players had some kind of interaction with Jessica before her time was up and that was really interesting to watch.

Despite earning a double degree in Science (Human Biology) and Design (Fine Arts), it is food that’s become the founding stone of Alex’s career, working in fine food sales and specialising in gourmet products, cheeses and small-goods amongst other delicacies. 

Her daily exposure to the food scene has further fuelled the fire inside, and Alex knows that cooking is not just a hobby, it’s her true calling in life and I can not wait to see where she takes her Masterchef journey.

I loved catching up with Alex I haven’t laughed as hard as this in a while. I actually edited out most of my laughing as I sounded like fog horn leg horn!

Australian Survivor: Titans V Rebels is a showdown that pits the winners against the underdogs and the big wigs against the battlers, with each player competing for the grand prize of $500,000. 

Charles is a Lawyer from Victoria started the game as a noticeably quieter character on the original Titan’s tribe. However, it was at the tribe swap that presented an opportunity for Charles to take control of the game, as he worked alongside Valeria and Winna to exploit the cracks between the Rebel’s faction and overcome their numerical disadvantage.

We started to see some more entertaining elements surfacing with Charles but a twist at his the Tribal Council caused the voting power within his majority alliance to be severed. Changing up the whole situation. 

The tables were then turned with Feras and Aileen holding all the cards… who smartly split their votes to secure Charles' blindside.

• Charles will talk about his exit from the show. Unpacking his raw feelings about the way in which he found himself out of the game. 
• We talk about what we haven’t been seeing from Charles and why there needs to be a lord of the rings sized version of each episodes to catch some of his witty comments.

On today’s podcast, I have the winners of Big Brother Australia. This week we saw Tay and Ari take out the 2023 competition in a very well documented pre-recorded finale, that saw Australia vote in the sisters over loved up competition Louis and Minee! 

In a nail biting Grand-Finale that had Australian viewers the most uncertain of their winner in the shows 22 year history... we saw siblings win for a 2nd time - not seen since the Logan twins in 2005 - Which even I had no bloody clue would win and thought Louis would win! Shows you what I know?

Both girls proved to be quite popular and powerful inside the house. They found love and made friendships proving the strongest connections was their ticket to winning Big Brother's game.

Big Brother focused in on love this series and while that did polarised the audience this year the experiment was still fascinating to see how a house full of potential singles would use their romantic relationships to get them to the end.

This episode of the podcast I am joined by ‘Adi’ and ‘Rue’ both eliminated from ‘MasterChef Australia’ this week after two very high pressure tests sending them home.

‘Adi Nevgi’ is a 31-year-old doctor from Melbourne Victoria. ‘Adi’ has always been a passionate cook, but a few years back she was forced to put her dream to be on ‘MasterChef Australia’ on hold to work on the front lines during the pandemic. This season we saw ‘Adi’ hang up her doctors coat and give this experience a real shot and I have to say I was very sad to see her go.

Meet ‘Rue Mupedzi,’ a 29-year-old oral health therapist based in Western Australia also set her sights on culinary greatness. Rue has already laded a deal with ‘Coles' Supermarkets and after talking with other contestants has won Miss Congeniality of the season. We did see her in that pressure test be only slightly beaten by ‘KAK ‘but something tells me we haven’t seen the last of ‘Rue.’

You will hear both contestants open up about their time on the show and get more insights into what really went down during production. 

• I will ask them about their highs and lows and if their careers in the health industry have ended to make room for the cooking ambitions?
• ‘Adi’ will talk about cooking herbs and while she might not confuse Thyme and Rosemary again she probably will always kick herself when she tastes them.  
• ‘Rue’ will talk about those sauces that sent her home and also talk about her sauces that landed the lucrative spot in ‘Coles’ supermarkets.

Today on the podcast I have 'Australian' entertainment royalty 'Kate Langbroek.' Who after decades of radio has made a big move to television. Yes we have seen her on 'The Project,' 'The Panel' and of course shows like 'Have You Been Paying Attention' but we have never seen 'Kate' like this.

The show is brand new for 'Channel Nine,' it is called 'My Mum, Your Dad' and it is the latest reality TV show that is sure fire to be a hit.

The premise is interesting. Single Parents being spied on by their children as they go on dates with other single parents. The show is addictive and I think we will be talking about it for years.

'ITV Studio's Australia' is seriously kicking some goals and 'Kate Langbroek' is an interesting choice for the show but it totally works.

I am sorry, full discloser, I am a big 'Kate Langbroek' fan and I really do throw away the script and get to have good yarn with 'Kate' - which is a career highlight for me. 

We talk about 'Hughesy' and if she misses him? We unpack her possible hesitancy in taking on the role of Reality-TV-Host and I also really wanted to know what 'Kate' watches at home! There is plenty more from a wise woman with a great sense of humour. Enjoy.

This week I have special guest Kirsty de Vallance. Who is a casting genius!

Kirsty runs the TV production company 'A Cast of Thousands.' Which has cast some of the biggest reality TV shows in the country and is currently working for Screen-time Australia.

Kirsty would have to be one of the most sort after creatives in the country and I have to mention that everyone of the people I spoke to leading up to this chat talked about her empathy, intelligence and ability to un-earth stories at level that most people could only ever dream.

The Seven Network is of course about to launch their 2nd series of SAS Australia on Monday the 10th of September at 7:30pm and all eyes will be on the 17 celebrities who will face some of the most toughest challenges at the hands of an elite team of EX-SPECIAL FORCES SOLDIERS!

These star recruits will be cut off from the outside world at a secret base in harsh but spectacular terrain, where they will eat, sleep and train together in punishing conditions, with no allowances made for their celebrity status, age or gender. Today on the podcast I have 'Angus' and 'Claire' from 'The Traitors' and let me tell you this chat brings you some serious tea from our first eliminated traitors.

 I for one am loving 'Channel Ten’s' new take on the ‘who done it’ format in the reality space and I hope listeners of 'TV Reload' have given this show a go. 

The Traitors hosted by 'Rodger Corser' has been fascinating from day one, as we watch a bunch of unknowns thrown into a mansion together play a cunning game of 'Wink Murder' meets 'Cluedo' the board game. 

'Angus' from day one had viewers and fellow contestants talking about his likeness to 'Bradley Cooper' and no mater what he did to try and hide his cards - he never escaped those comparisons or his place in the game.

'Claire' was someone to watch from the start and while she was an intense player - I genuinely loved her energy and I will be sad to see her go.  

We will talk eliminations, whether Angus likes the 'Bradley Cooper' reference, who they both hold the most responsible for their exit, what they think this show says about society and who they thinks will win.
