Join Patti Brunner and Truth of the Spirit for Part 4 of the retreat given by Fr. Phillip Scott in Arkansas at Subiaco Coury House Retreat Center. In this episode of “Come to the Water”, Fr. Philip Scott describes the understanding of suffering that souls undergo within the Paschal Mystery. Many people today are stuck fleeing from suffering as the disciples did on the Holy Thursday as Jesus was taken from them in the garden. It seems God has disappeared. Through staying busy, distractions, staying strong, and cover up we avoid suffering. Avoiding suffering creates more suffering. Suffering either clogs you up or opens the airways. Give yourself permission to cry. Suffering reminds us that “this isn’t heaven.” Tears help the exchange from suffering to love. Suffering gets us out of the way.  As you cry on Good Friday, you call it what it is and you need someone who understands to walk with you. As the soul enters Holy Saturday the impact of God’s presence is felt. You sense growth and become more empathetic; suffering gives you wisdom. You realize there is no joy without the Cross. Once you know the divine  purpose, you can detach from others’ opinions. On Holy Saturday we are healed some but we are not done. We will be tempted to give up because Jesus has not yet shown up. When you reach Easter Sunday you wouldn’t trade the unique suffering God has allowed because you realize it is a blest thing.

The Gift of Prophecy is a supernatural communication from God to an individual or a group of believers.  It is an anointing given by the Holy Spirit.  1 Corinthians 14: 1 “Make love your aim, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.” _NAB   Prophecy is speaking of the mind and heart of God to His people. God’s voice is gentle and strong, listen for love in it.  His voice brings peace.  Rarely does He use a burning bush, chariots of fire or a thundering voice to speak to you.

Truth of the Spirit with Patti Brunner episode “The Gift of Living in the Divine Will of the Father” shares introductory information about Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta and about the Divine Will of the Father. When you accept the Will of the Father, even difficulties can be embraced for a season. When you step out in faith, the world can be changed by your own obedience to the Will of the Father. You do not lose your individual nature -- any more than a finger ceases to be a finger since it is part of the body -- sharing common the blood that also feeds and flows throughout the body. There is no constriction in the perfection of the Union. Lives will be saved as you choose obedience to the Will of the Father.

Walk Among the Needy with Patti Brunner. When stress attacks the weak, the needy, it takes the intercession of others to bring the light of dawn into the situation. Wherever you are in the world there is a need greater than your own. Compared to most of the world, America is not poor. But poverty of spirit does not use financial wealth or “need” as its barometer and measure. The fruit of Christianity is a desire to take care of the needs of others. “Untold riches” is not based on money but on the Word of God. Managing the taking care of the needy is a responsibility of the Church leaders and that sometimes it is an overwhelming task.

Our Lady of Guadalupe continues to reveal her love and presence to us with the recent discovery of musical notes on the Tilma by mathematician Dr. Fernando Ojeda. Second of the series "Working Through the World's Chaos to Find Supernatural Peace". Thomas Aquinas said: "No one can live without joy. That is why a person deprived of spiritual joy goes after carnal pleasures." If we are not growing in one area, it is like fertilizing and tolerating the other, so that the other grows. In our culture today, it seems like the carnal is growing by leaps and bounds. It doesn't have to happen. God gives us the grace to rebalance our scales.

The Shield of Faith is part 5 of 7 of the Armor of God series. Ephesians 6:16 says, “At all times carry faith as a shield; for with it you will be able to put out all the burning arrows shot by the evil one.”  A shield is something we must pick up and hold up in front of us or it does no good!  While a physical shield protects us physically, faith can protect our spiritual lives even in the middle of physical trials.  Satan is always hurling his fiery darts of fear, doubt and worry in our direction, but the only time they can hit us is when we let our shield of faith down.  When we allow doubt to creep in, as Peter did when distracted by the waves, we will start to sink.  For these highlights and more, listen to Truth of the Spirit with Patti Brunner recorded with Lissa Applewhite at the Patriarch House.

God provides healing in his words.  In Proverbs 40:20-23, “Pay attention to what I say, turn your ear to my word, don’t let out of your sight; keep them in your heart, for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.”  Lissa Applewhite suggests that various words of scripture are God’s “medicine” for our healing, our restoration, and our continued health!  Reading and memorizing these scriptures allow these words to sink deep into mind and spirit but if we go a step further by proclaiming these words out loud they become action!  Action speaks louder than words!  Speaking God’s words out is powerful, this takes God’s promise from internal to external, it fills our environment with his words and promise.  Lissa feels that every time we stand on his word, his promises we experience healing.  May not be resolution of symptoms or situation but one step closer to “total healing” which is after we are drawn eternally into God’s presence! We are also commissioned to be vessels of God’s healing by praying with others—both friends and strangers.

Truth of the Spirit with Patti Brunner welcomes Sheila Canup for the series on Prayer-Reaching Out to God.  As Sheila teaches on Deliverance, Protection and Cleansing Prayer, she shares her “on the job training” deliverance experiences.  Unless you know your authority in Christ and are sure of the Holy Spirit’s power working in you leave it alone!  Because like the woman sweeping her house and had it all cleaned out of spirits, and did not fill it, seven more came back.  But sometimes when we are praying for people deliverance prayer becomes necessary.  When it does, we need to know what and how to minister in the area of healing and releasing.   We have all had something that had to be taken out of us that we didn’t know was there.  We’ve been affected by childhood traumas and just life in general by people we are around, by literally being unaware that spirits can come within us.  Now, we are not talking about possession.     We are talking about oppressed, being attacked by demonic forces as when prayer for inner healing seems to accomplish nothing—the “constant loser” script, falling back into the same thing over and over and over.  The Gift of Discernment is really necessary with deliverance.  Prayer for deliverance is directed towards the opposing demons, oppressing demons—not at you!  Demons cannot stand against the authority or the name of Jesus.  Philippians 2:10 “Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”  That means the demons have to, too.  Pray for the protection of the Blood of Jesus.

The Shoes of Preparation for the Gospel of Peace is part 4 of 7 of the series on the Truth of the Spirit Armor of God. Ephesians 6:15 says, “And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.”  Before putting on the shoes, be aware of standing barefoot before God as a sign of submission and giving Him complete control. Help others by spreading this Gospel of Peace and not only the word of God but also how we live and the good example we set.  "He who abides in Him ought to walk in the way He walked." 1John 2-6.  Soak up every word in the Gospels - "Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God" Matt 4-4.  Romans 16:20 “And the God of Peace shall quickly crush Satan under your feet.”  Be prepared for disarming the demon world by knowing the word of God - just as Jesus did in the desert. Repeating the proclamation by Isaiah, Paul tells us in Romans 10:15 “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news”.
