03 Apr 2023 | Why Do Electricians Test Everything As Skilled Tradesmen | 00:13:51
EICR, PAT Testing, Periodic Tests, Continuity..... The list goes ON and ON Is it an obsession for electricians to test everything? Maybe..... Its drilled into you at college so much. Isn't it over the top the amount of testing electricians do? There must be a reason for all this testing and safe isolation, but what is it? When you understand the reason you do something, your more likely to do it. When you don't completely understand why, you may cut a few corners and not bother. Yeah you may get away with it a couple of times. It only takes that one time for something to go wrong, for a fire to start and lives to be lost. After that you will make a point of testing everything twice - If you are alive to get another chance. Learn from other peoples mistake that I have found over the years, where a simple test before they leave would have saved the customer time and money. But best of all - let that install safe. Tune in to the podcast to day and understand why electricians test and what the tests prove. Understanding is the first step to knowing what your doing. 06 Feb 2023 | The Reason All Other Tradesmen Hate Electricians? | 00:11:48
If the cable is in your way? Cut it out - Problem solved! I have my suspicions of what other trades get up to when the electrician isn't looking. Who would you say is an electrician's main rival on site? I have had a few run ins with other tradesmen over the years - even seen a few fights. But it doesn't have to be like that. You can do some things to get along with other tradesmen, and maybe actually get some more work. That's just what is mentioned in this podcast. It's hard to find a tradesman that says a good word about electricians on site, but they are the first ones to call them when they need an electrical repair. Other tradesmen are constantly asked for other trades who they recommend, wouldn't it be good if you were the electrician who they passed your number on? Listen to the huge benefits of other tradesmen not hating electricians, not only for you, but for them too. I'm sure there are some other trades inside of Tool Box Talks For Electricians Facebook group. Come join and find out for yourself.

The NEW Generations of Electrical Apprentices. Its the wheel of life, we teach the younger generation what we know and they will be able to carry on flying the flag for the electricians in years to come. Of course we had to enter the time trial (check the podcast out to see who won) to set the pace for the students to win some prizes. You have heard the term "cheap rubbish" that's what you and your business will be classed as. Cheap means cheap for a reason. If your trying to build a business, you need money to be successful and I'm afraid being cheap doesn't make it in this world - Being good on the the other hand and carrying out quality and professional work, That will go a long way. Listen to the stories of the lesson learnt overtime, when being cheap. You will regret it in the long run.

Well, here's the truth – while some might claim they can speed through it, the real pros know better. To do the job right, an electrician needs more than just half an hour. So, who's out there offering EICRs for under £100 and actually doing justice to the task? Because let's face it, there are countless properties that legally require an EICR. Imagine this: Electricians promising a thorough EICR for just £99 and wrapping up five in a single day! Sounds tempting, right? 21 Aug 2023 | The Young, The Old And The Ugly Electricians Over Time | 00:18:57
Have Electricians over the years got Better or Worse?I believe there to be 3 types of electricians, the old boys who started out on 16th edition. The mature sparks who did a modern day apprentice or collage course and the young blood. The electricians or who training today didn't have to go through the same training as an electrician did in the 80s. I think that shows with some of the electricians these days. There is only one day to become a good electrician these days in my opinion. This I mention in the podcast. Its something all electricians can do still if they can be bothered. 25 Sep 2023 | What Materials Are Best For Electricians To Use? 🔨 | 00:26:36
All Electricians use these materials, they are the best quality! Being a good electrician is one thing. But what makes us better is the materials we install. The better the equipment, the better the job. Getting a call saying that the sockets you installed don't work, doesn't look good on you. As an electrician you can go for the most expensive materials, this doesn't always mean that it's not going to fail! It's happened to me with a huge brand before. You can't really say a brand is the best until you have used it and installed it yourself. Just because the brand of material has been around for a long time, doesn't necessarily mean it's the best. In this podcast I came up with a plan on how to determine the materials you install, along with the way to get the best prices from your wholesaler. You don't have to stick with the same wholesaler, and it could be a good idea to shop around. Just like I explain in another podcast here - https://player.captivate.fm/episode/60e371f9-c8ff-4b6f-87f3-1a187fd4ca48
