Katie Silcox on Ayurveda, Healing, Trauma, Inflammation + Spiritual Repair
01:11:24

Life is magical, mysterious, and unique but fragile. Humans can easily succumb to external influences and sometimes forget the sense of self and independence. That’s why we experience trauma in our lives. Our fragility and our failure to understand and establish that we are fragile beings are the main reasons we can be corrupted easily. Whether it’s a disease, emotions, decisions, etc., we must learn how to “repair” our spiritual selves.
Thus, we must fully understand how our spiritual, religious, and physical life works. We must achieve a higher state of being to help ourselves from being thoroughly affected by harmful external influences. In this episode, Katie Silcox explained how people develop traumas and why it’s important to learn how to repair them. She also explained why humans are intrinsically delicate and how you can incorporate femininity into spiritual practice! Tune in to learn more!

One Year of Urine Therapy: Cate Stillman with Megan MacDonald
00:22:36
Podcast Intro: Is it possible to drink your own urine and be healthy? The idea of putting something back into the body that the body appears to be discarding may sound weird at first. But what we don’t know is that drinking urine or “Shivambu” has many benefits. Throughout history, our ancestors have been using urine to treat illnesses and improve their overall health.
In the treatment of chronic diseases, urine therapy has proven to be a highly effective and drug-free alternative. It can be adopted by anyone including young children. The sole ingredient required is a material produced by the body itself and rich in mineral salts, hormones, and other important substances. But how can you ensure that the wastes flushed out with your urine aren’t taken back in? Why is urine regarded as the best tonic available for the immune system?
Megan MacDonald is one of the many people that has been doing Urine Therapy. She shares with us how it changed her life and why people should not stigmatize the practice. Learn there is to know about Urine therapy.
In Sanskrit, words matter. There's nothing random about that language in general. It's not like a new word becomes a hit because a bunch of teenagers made it up and it became cool later. So you're dealing with ancient languages that have a lot of intentionalities based on vibration and based on deep historical meaning.
Cate says that during a Bitcoin conference, she and other people were talking about drinking urine. That means that drinking urine is already out in the biohacker community. Cate says that it will take the edge off for people who are curious and looking to learn about drinking urine and those who might not be at the biohacker level.
Cate says that she is much more curious about Cancel Culture and its edginess. She wants to know if it matters in society if one cannot stand for truth.

Quotes:
“Don't pretend you know something you don't. It's the same thing with someone who's done online courses for 10 years versus someone who's been in it for a year. If someone has a practice with something, that's really different from me writing a book on it and trying it a few times.”

“It's easy to feel crazy when you're counterculture, but it makes so much sense in your own body and intuition. You feel that you are violating yourself when you venture into something not accepted by a common culture.”
Eventually, you start to get your freedom back. You create your power source inside yourself. There is intelligence so much greater than we understand and so much greater than we have. Even though these plants have incredible healing powers, they also have poison powers because too much of anything is bad.”

Psychedelics, Ayurveda, and Your Next Identity Evolution with Todd Caldecott
00:51:16
Podcast Intro:
In clinical research settings around the world, renewed investigations are taking place on the use of psychedelic substances for treating illnesses such as addiction, depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress disorder. The microdosing community swears by it, claiming that it has increased creativity, energy, and a sense of well-being, as well as reduced depression levels.
However, despite the rise in popularity of microdosing in recent years, there was little scientific data to back up the claims made by microdosers. Although official research into the use of psychedelics to treat mental health disorders is still in its early stages, growing evidence suggests that these drugs may benefit some people with certain symptoms, especially when other treatments have failed.
In this episode, Todd Caldecott, medical herbalist and practitioner of Ayurveda for 25 years, talks about emerging research on psychedelics for therapeutic purposes as adjuncts to psychotherapy, counseling for mental illness, or treatments for chronic diseases. Todd has been using psychedelics for roughly 20 years in his practice. And, for the most part, it's to help with the ego dissolving process, and one of the compounds he utilizes the most is a treatment that contains magic mushrooms. Now that psychedelics are marking their way from the street to the clinic, from PTSD to palliative care, it’s not inconceivable that many studies will emerge in the near future.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
HowPsychedelics approach facilitates the ego dissolution process
The emotional and rational differences between men vs. women
Why Plant medicines have more profound healing properties than conventional medicines
How Psychedelics experience can improve neuroplasticity, neuroregeneration, and cognitive enhancement
Cate ran a study about psychedelics having an effect on autoimmune disease
Cate shares her excitement about Todd’s research on Ayurveda and Psychedelics
Cate explains the correlation between the legalization of plant medicine and the rise of pharmaceuticals.

47:29 - Evolution of Human Culture
Quotes:
“A lot of our problems can be rooted from having hard boundaries of our ego, and we lose the flexibility and flow in our life. We identify too much with the external, not so much with the internal flowing process.”
“If you have a difficult time with boundaries generally, then it can manifest anywhere on that spectrum from a psychosocial, emotional, all the way down to a more physical expression.”
“Once those boundaries of individuation dissolve, we find that we have all these interconnections with the natural world. And we begin to see patterns that weren’t evident previously, regardless if we see them in our individual reality.“
“We begin to see patterns that we weren’t able to see before because we’re so locked into this very individualistic perspective. So it’s a very healthy experience to have this sort of ego transcendent state.”
“As we get older, we see and learn how the world works. Our ego gets consolidated within the tamasic experience or perception. That’s why the psychedelics can be helpful for it to return us back to that childlike state of just pure imagination, where we see that the veil of reality can get ripped away, and we can see that there are depths to the reality that we weren’t even aware of.”

Regenerative Leadership + Regenerating Thinking, Building, Living with Jaime Hogan
00:56:11
Podcast Intro:
Harmony with the natural world.
Place Philosophy provides services and programs that seek to inspire and empower collaborative leadership and wellbeing in urban professionals, to enable personal and planetary thrive. Our belief in both inner transformation and systemic and cultural change guides everything we do.
Our programming is an invitation to embark on a transformational journey to regenerative leadership. Through workshops and ongoing immersive experiences, we embed wellbeing in all we do and explore the design of a new paradigm and the leadership attributes needed at this time.
How can we increase our collective capacity to become active regeneration agents in our communities and ecosystems? Undoubtedly, we live in a time marked by great upheaval and volatility, and all political and business leaders are being forced to cope with rising challenges.
We can see an organization’s place within its surrounding environment, its ecosystem. Suppose we apply living-systems logic to product design, organizational culture, and our being. Embracing this regenerative approach to leadership won’t change things, and it requires patience, practice, and compassion for ourselves and others. We invited Jamie Hogan to discuss his approach that values every life and a new leadership logic where organizations flourish, ecosystems thrive, and people feel alive is what Regenerative Leadership is all about.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
How does Jamie get into the whole regenerative movement?
What is the death of a hero?
Upscaling people - a catalyst in the community
The connection between dharma and regenerative design - ecology
What is a regenerative living roadmap
Design skills to bring regenerative design and thinking into your work,
What is regenerative leadership?
How can you build a better, stronger, smarter ecosystem of business?
Cate and her team developed passive leadership to help others get better at leadership.
Cate explains why yoga health coaches needed more experience to accomplish their job.
Cate shares when she developed Pbook in July, she tried to help people in determining what is waste and what are waste products.

31:59 - “Transplanting” Culture
45:11 - System Thinking Level
46:24 - System Alternatives
Quotes:
“There are so many amazing people who have these visions for a better world, but we’re not supporting them to actually be able to stay in those professions.”
“You kind of want to set up the intelligence of the system that then self-perpetuates and continues to be creative and evolve so that you could if you needed to step out, and the system has the intelligence itself.”
“It becomes self-perpetuating, like the life of the culture becomes a thing of its own, and it wants to find other places to grow.”
“We start with the habits. You will spend a whole year learning how to think in the living systems context. And to start, we’ll start with ourselves because it’s the easiest way to start.”
“If you’re not a yoga teacher, then don’t try to be a yoga teacher. Be what you are because you’re needed in your community, to serve your community and not the other communities.”
Jaime has a diverse spatial and policy skillset having worked across architecture, urban design, and strategic planning in government and private organizations around Sydney. Jaime has designed and delivered sustainable solutions in bespoke residential architecture, prepared complex structure plans to guide inner-city renewal in some of Sydney’s most recognized centers, and prepared strategic plans and policies for the Local Government. Jaime is actively involved in the Planning Institute of Australia, supporting the institute in preparing policies and campaigns for climate change, building sustainability, and social issues. Jaime has also chaired the Education Subcommittee for two years, creating a fresh program of continuing education and development for planning professionals.
Having qualified as a yoga and meditation teacher in 2015, Jaime also regularly curates workshops, courses, and public classes to offer the community regenerative wellbeing practices grounded in traditional yoga and Ayurveda, and emerging behavioral- and neuro-science.
Jaime’s work supports her belief that urban professionals must own their duty as custodians of the built and natural environment to create environmentally sustainable, equitable, and engaging places for all. She knows that this kind of leadership takes a resilient mindset and rhythmic wellbeing that is deeply attuned to place and practiced in the community.
Jaime founded Place Philosophy in 2021 to bridge the gap between leadership education, wellbeing, and regenerative practices.

Releasing the Pain Body with the Dalian Method: An Interview with Mada Dalian
00:59:54
Podcast Intro:
The universe has its way of mending any damage caused by unforeseen circumstances. And looking at nature, humans are blessed to witness nature’s process of healing. As rational beings, we seek ways to imitate the healing process and turn it into our own.
But is researching as easy as it sounds like? How can you confirm that the proposed methods work? That’s why you experiment! Just like how Mada Dalian experimented with the self-healing mechanism she created, The Dalian Method.
If nature can heal, so do humans. From your thoughts, beliefs, and emotions, all the way to social and cultural aspects, humans heal by taking these aspects into account. By being conscious and confident that the process works and helping yourself towards healing, you are giving yourself the freedom to explore the vastness of the universe—uninhibited.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
What is the Dalian Method
Who can benefit from the Dalian Method
How the Fear of Survival and Death is at the root of our Human Ailments and Dis-ease
How the Dalian Method can help you heal into consciousness and be free of the limiting stories created by mental conditioning and fears
How incorporating the “breath” process improves self-healing.
How you can connect yourself to the universe and leverage the journey as an end and not a means
How the Dalian Method helped Megan towards Self-Healing
Key Principles of the Dalian Method
The Dalian Method Works with the Following Core Principles:
Many unexpressed layers of thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and conditionings are repressed in the body and cellular memory. They run as invisible programs blocking the free flow of energy through the body and causing pain, discomfort, and disease.
Our beliefs are based on socio-political and religious conditions and the conclusions we make from our life experiences.
To eradicate pain and illness, we must access and work with the causes of ailments instead of their symptoms.
All answers are within. Consciousness within the Being is the master key that can permanently dismantle the unconscious beliefs and conditionings and liberate the soul from the story created by the ego-mind.
Consciousness must be grounded in the entire body to achieve complete and lasting healing and transformation.
Teen and Child versions of the Dalian Method will be released in 2022.
Highlights:
The process of complete liberation reminds Cate of the Sanskrit word, Nirambalaya, which she explains as getting to a place without the need of support, living out their rules, beliefs, and systems born into.
Cate believes that she will never figure things out by simply reading a book and following the instructions. She explains that commitment to a time, place, and process are necessary along with a person to guide her through it allows a kinesthetic understanding of what the process is all about.
Cate stated that as someone who's trained in Vedic Language, there's more to consciousness than just diagnostics. The word Consciousness has different meanings and implications on various cultures, especially in India, which is vast and deep. And that's different worldwide whether it's English, German, French, Italian, etc.

[45:00] How you can grow confidence with a beginner’s mindset
[56:24] Who can benefit from the Dalian Method?
Quotes:
Children are open to different perspectives and have a unique perception because they are not conditioned yet. The world has not accumulated its weight on them, they are more open to the perception of reality.
People are trying to find themselves, just like how we find ourselves. With the tension that the mind creates to understand something, you try hard but don't see things. It's the ego that's trying.
Thoughts and emotions are two sides of the same coin. When you think of something, emotions come. When you have an emotion, there's a thought behind it.
We cannot deny any part. Because if we deny one part, we cannot achieve 100% transformation.
By saying "I am afraid," you're taking responsibility for your fear.
If I am the universe, there's an endless exploration I can do. The universe is open, and I am stuck on this little planet with the vastness of the universe. The journey is the goal; enlightenment is your experience.

00:45:50
Podcast Intro:
Have you had any traumatic experiences as a child? What were the events that triggered such an emotional response? How can someone recover from its devastation? Sometimes, talking about mental health, trauma, and other concerns isn't enough. Other approaches must be adopted to get the desired good outcomes.
Yoga is one of these ways. And today, we'll learn more from an expert who does yoga daily.
Joanne Spence, a trained yoga therapist, recovering social worker, and author, discusses techniques to deal with trauma in this episode.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
What is trauma-informed yoga and why is it important?
What is the vagus nerve?
How yoga affects the nervous system
Why it is hard for a mental health professional to seek help from peers
How trauma is being accumulated from your childhood to the present date where it manifests
Cate talks about getting called out by her teacher
Cate talks about Lorimer Moseley about his work in pain in the brain
Timestamps:
[01:26] - [01:38] "My reason for even having yoga on my radar and trying it as a practice was because I was in a car accident 20 years ago, so there was an event. So a traumatic event was the car accident.”
[09:49] - [10:04] "What happens in the presence of that pain or so it, I think it works similarly with physical pain and, and psychological pain is we go to that place as if that's happening now when it's not happening now."
[11:44] - [12:03] "We've got this adaptive survival mechanism that's helping to protect us that goes on lockdown, and we either go into the sympathetic nervous system or we go into one of the dorsal vagal systems, where we collapse and become immobilized."
Quotes:
"There's nothing like being a mental health therapist and self-diagnosing. I think there's something wrong. And I don't know if it's harder sometimes for a mental health professional to ask for help or acknowledge our own need for support with our own mental health. But I certainly found that it was difficult to say, I think I'm depressed. I need some help."
"The body is not distinguishing whether we're safe or not safe. It's tapping in with something that triggers us. It's tapping into something in the past, and we get stuck there. And it doesn't matter if it's not happening at the moment in front of us. "
"If you walk too fast or lift your arms too high, you're going to experience that terrible, debilitating pain that puts you to bed for three days. And you're not going to be able to do your job and so the body locks down to protect you. It's a survival mechanism because it thinks that you're at risk of hurting yourself. It may or may not be true."
"It's easier to describe that a car accident was a trauma, it's more socially acceptable and factual. But what that revealed to me over time was an awareness of childhood adverse childhood experiences that we know today."

Peter Block is an expert on community. He discovered that you need to pay attention to what you really give a shit about. On the give a shit question he asks, where can your goodwill make a real difference?1That is whereyoubelong next. So, ask yourself the question.
Then, understandingbelonghas a second meaning:
The second meaning of the wordbelonghas to do with being an owner: Something belongs to me. To belong to a community is to act as a creator and co-owner of that community. What I consider mine I will build and nurture.2
So to belong you commit to being part where you can make a real difference, and you take ownership of your actions and your collectives’ actions. Block continues:
The communal possibility rotates on the question “What can we create together?” This emerges from the social space we create when we’re together. It’s shaped by the nature of the culture within which we operate but isn’t controlled by it. This question of what we can create together is at the intersection of possibility and accountability.3
Possibility to design the future together; accountability for what happens.
Your regenerative habits become a pull for your core people to reverse the tide of chronic inflammation. The people in your circles have a lifesaver in you. Live the smarter way and you are leading the journey. The wild habits align to life, to enthalpy, topotentia.
Inquiry Practice on Your Beliefs on Healing, Goals, and Your Crossroads based Liminal Thinking Work of Dave Gray
00:19:34
Podcast Intro:
What are your beliefs around health, healing, and disease? You might have experiences that you have individually experienced, and there are also universal energy experiences or unity consciousness experiences that are also part of your experience box. But you can't know everything on some level.
In this world, there is a lot to learn. Do a bit of exploration. When you hear someone else tell you about their experience, it becomes part of your own. You can have direct perception experiences and experiences in different levels of consciousness that aren't always conscious states.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
What is your workshop on looking at beliefs?
What are some ways to question our beliefs?
What are your beliefs?
What is obvious to you?
What is the emotional resonance you have with this specific word over that word?
What is the opportunity at the crossroads of your life right now?
Cate shares one of her favorite images which is Dave Gray
Cate tells a story when her daughter keeps asking questions that are so beyond her experience.
Cate mentioned being aware of the visceral experience

Quotes:
“We have these strong theories, judgments, beliefs, and things that we think are super obvious. But it's resting on a small chunk of possible experience. What brings us beyond the threshold, beyond our condition thinking into liminal thinking is actually in part when we question our beliefs.”
“Your beliefs are what is obvious to you.”
“It's okay to allow for contradictions. As you investigate your beliefs about the mind, return to what experiences have led you to those beliefs.”
“It doesn't have to be obvious to anyone but you because you're just relying on your experience of what's obvious.”

Urine Therapy: The Miracle Drug That No One Has Told You About
00:48:05
What do you think of urine therapy to detoxify toxins out of your body? Before saying, “That’s so weird and gross!”, have an open mind and learn how our guest, Darlene Teahen, explained the benefits one can get through urine therapy.
The “disgusting” thoughts born from the idea of utilizing urine therapy sprouted from our upbringing. When you were a child, your parents would make funny faces upon seeing your poop or when you urinated your underwear. That continued until we reached adulthood, and we now associate the word ‘urine’ with dirty. But since antiquity, Vedic practitioners have been drinking urine. And it worked for them!
Now in the modern era, what if I tell you that urine can be another source of stem cells? Or urine therapy is your gateway to accessing “life vibration”, achieve inner peace and harmony, and form a deeper connection with yourself? From injecting to nebulizing urine, listen to this fascinating episode as Darlene Teahen delves into her thesis, “Culture Plasma Ultrafiltrate as Therapy in the role of involved vitals for stronger immunity and lifeforce.”
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
What is Urine Therapy
Plant Medicine - specifically Ayahuasca
Energy Medicine
Sound Frequency Healing
How urine therapy helps you connect with the “life vibration” and find a deeper connection within yourself.
Why it’s perfectly fine to use your own urine as a source of stem cells rather than acquiring it from others.
How early childhood conditioning affects a person’s perception of feces or urine being associated with “dirtiness”.
How urine therapy detoxes “toxins” out of the body and why anxieties, nausea, pain, etc. are toxins being expelled.
Why urine therapy is frowned upon and not thoroughly explored by holistic practitioners due to the fear of rejection from society and culture.
Cate tells her experience listening toThe Water of Lifeby John Armstrong
Cate shares why it’s challenging to explain the concept of meditation in Western practice than Eastern practice
Cate expresses her curiosity about nebulizing urine and its detoxifying prowess
Timestamps:

25:28 - 26:28 (Talking about how early childhood conditioning affected a person’s perception on urine therapy)
33:15 - 34:38 (Thoughts on nebulizing urine)
Quotes:
“The Dharma Tantra, an ancient era Vedic text, said that urine therapy has historic roots in Egypt, China, India, and Europe in the Middle Ages. They’ve all done it, it’s over 3000 years old, and yet we are just waking up to it.” -- [Darlene]
“I'm grounded. It's that peace and love you've never felt before. I'm working on the chakras and pulling things up. And it's so much easier now to feel what is going on because I can connect at that subtle level.” -- [Darlene]
“To me, this is our future where medicine is going. And we can all produce individualized medicines for ourselves by ourselves.” -- [Darlene]
“One of the disadvantages of the one-on-one practitioner-patient or client relationship is that there's not a community of people who are evolving together.” -- [Cate]

Allergies
00:42:35
Podcast Intro:
Many households struggle with allergies. Others seem to have no problem being in the outside world where there is a risk of having allergic reactions. But why is it that other people have allergies while others don’t?
With life-changing innovations in the medical industry, almost every allergy can be treated right away. But there are also side effects. In today’s episode, Cate is going to share how to get rid of allergies fast.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
What is the root cause of allergies?
How can you get rid of your allergies fast?
Why do you need to be concerned about chronic diseases?
What’s the importance of knowing the nature of your microbiome health?
What are the important lifestyle changes needed to be made by the whole family?
How do different medical traditions look at allergies?
Cate shared her experience of having allergies when she was seven years old
Cate tells about her son who also had allergies when he is four years old
Cate says that Ayurveda will help you to know how the root cause of your allergies may be quite different than the root cause of someone else's allergies.
Cate shares her thoughts on immunotherapy and allergy shots

[33:41] Food Allergies
[35:27] Immunotherapy and Allergy Shots
[39:57] The Causes of Side Effects from Allergy Medicines
Quotes:
“Allergy medicines don't actually lower our allostatic load. If anything, they increase oxidative stress because they're naturally more acidic in our physiology. Many of the antihistamines will also have side effects that let us know that there's actually an increase in load on our system. Side effects might be drowsiness, dry mouth, blurred vision, or headaches.”
“If we don't have fermented foods and enough fiber in our diet for the microbiome and the colon to thrive on, what happens is our oxidative stress starts to happen cellularly in the digestive tract first. Allergies are complicated. But you want to get to the root cause of it. When you do, you get all these side benefits instead of having all these side effects.”
“The longer you do intermittent fasting, the more you can break all food combining rules. But if you have allergies or autoimmune conditions, you have to nurture your digestion and pay attention to food. Combining these basic rules of food combining can be a total game-changer.”
“The body's super intelligent. It's hyperreactive to the environment with allergies. What it's trying to do is try to flush out some of the inflammation. It's trying to enter deeper levels of hydration and flow. When we take the anti-histamine, it actually disrupts the body's natural response to flushing out the allergen and also flushing out the inflammatory response.”

What If You’re NOT Eating Organic?
00:56:14
Podcast Intro:
Glyphosate is the active ingredient in Roundup, the world's most commonly used weed killer. Over 300 million pounds of glyphosate-based herbicide are sprayed on farms and foods yearly. Agrochemical companies claim that glyphosate is safe for humans, animals, and the environment. But scientific studies suggest otherwise.
Glyphosate has created a deadly disruption of the gut microbiome. Its effect on protein synthesis and the body’s ability to use and transport sulfur has greatly affected human health for the past decade.
In this episode, Dr. Stephanie Seneff talks about the effects of Glyphosate and how it is destroying our Health and Environment. She also talks about what happens if you don’t eat organic food and its immense effect on the human body.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
Sulfate is a vastly overlooked molecule playing many crucial roles in human metabolism.
Glyphosate (the active ingredient in Roundup) greatly disturbs sulfate homeostasis in the body.
Many biologically active molecules containing carbon rings transport sulfate throughout the body.
Heparan sulfate is a complex sulfated polysaccharide that populates the extracellular matrix of most cells and is essential for the lysosomes to recycle cellular debris. It also controls neurodevelopment in the brain.
Heparan sulfate deficiency in the brain ventricles is a characteristic feature of autism in humans and mice.
Serotonin is an important neurotransmitter whose deficiency is associated with obesity, depression, and violent behavior. Serotonin is produced in large quantities in the gut and then sulfated before being transported to the brain.
Cholesterol sulfate, synthesized in the skin in response to sunlight, is another important source of sulfate for the brain and the body.
Endothelial nitric oxide synthase synthesizes nitric oxide and sulfur dioxide, switching between the two based on received signals from the blood.
Nitrate and sulfate are the yin and yang controlling blood flow.
Why you should eat Organic Foods
What is Glyphosate
How Chemicals and Pesticides affect the Human Body
How the Body Breaks down Glyphosate
Why Organic Foods are Essential to the Human Body
How Glyphosate is destroying our Health and Environment
Cate says that one of the things she sees with not having natural childbirth much in this country in the last 100 years is they take that power away from a woman to have a conscious birth, and then now she's going to be less protective of her yard. She will be less protective of the food she's putting in their body. And it's all these breakdowns that happened in human consciousness.
Cate shares the article in The New York Times that their idea to help farmers is number one.
Cate says that the number one thing people think people can do is get involved with local farmers, promote organic, pay more, eat less, and eat healthily.

Quotes:
“People are smart. The problem is they don't understand the need for avoiding the toxic chemicals in everything that they do. We have to always think about safety first because there are so many chemicals we're putting out into the environment with inadequate study. We don't realize how toxic these things can be.”
“Fermentation is complicated because it can actually introduce new metabolites that could be toxic. But it also takes away metabolites that are toxic. Things are not toxic if your livers are working. Enzymes in the liver are crucial for metabolizing many of these complex molecules that are made by these microbes, and so it becomes liver toxic if the liver can't use those enzymes to break it down.”
“As you're not being poisoned, your body can handle things like sunlight very well and use it to its advantage to using it as a source of energy. But the things that you need to do that get messed up by the poisons, then it becomes toxic.”
“Go buy organic and explain to your neighbors and relatives why they should also go buy organic and get them to do it.”

An Evolutionary Perspective on The Intermittent Fasting Revolution: The Brain Science with Mark Mattson
00:51:45
Podcast Intro:
Most of us believe that eating three meals a day with a few snacks is the typical, healthy way to eat. But that is not always the case. Human bodies and minds developed to function well in circumstances where food was only available intermittently. In the primitive era, when we examine our ancestors' eating habits, we can see that intermittent fasting was common—but eating three meals a day was not. In fact, Dr. Mark Mattson, a well-known neuroscientist, demonstrates that intermittent fasting is not only normal but also beneficial to our health.
Intermittent fasting has become increasingly fashionable in recent years, and scientists have been studying its long-term implications on physical health. In this episode, Dr. Mark Mattson joins us to talk about his studies on metabolic switching, calorie restriction, and the cognitive benefits of intermittent fasting. He also provides information for physicians and parents, as well as practical guidance on how to follow an intermittent fasting eating pattern.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
What is intermittent fasting?
How does intermittent fasting affect the body and brain?
What can someone expect to experience when they adopt an intermittent fasting eating pattern?
Obesity impairs cognition and increases the risk for some psychiatric disorders and dementias.
Maternal and paternal obesity predisposes offspring to poor cognitive outcomes by epigenetic molecular mechanisms.
Neural signaling pathways that evolved to bolster cognition in settings of food insecurity can be stimulated by intermittent fasting and exercise to support the cognitive health of current and future generations.
Metabolic switching stimulates neural signaling pathways that bolster cognition.

04:29 - 05:04 - Food over Consumption
38:28 - 40:41 - How Pharmaceutical Drugs are Advertised and Perceived by the General Public
Quotes:
“Similar to exercise, intermittent fasting takes time to adapt so that you'll actually feel very good. Many people, if they get in shape, they'll feel really good as long as they keep exercising. If they stop, their mood will start to go down.”
“Physical exercise and intermittent fasting have similar effects on the brain and body. Obviously, exercise has a more beneficial effect on your muscles and cardiovascular system. Then, from the standpoint of the brain, those intermittent fasting and exercise, improve learning and memory and protect the brain against dysfunction during aging”
“Based on many studies, fasting for 16 hours is enough to engage or stimulate cells to go into this stress resistance, conserve resources mode. So people have breakfast, lunch and dinner and a snack. They're not fasting for 16 hours because the only time they're not eating is when they're sleeping.”
Guest Bio: Mark Mattson
Mark Mattson is the former Chief of the Laboratory of Neurosciences at the National Institute on Aging and is now on the faculty of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His research has advanced an understanding of the cellular signaling mechanisms that control the formation and plasticity of neuronal networks in the brain, and cellular and molecular mechanisms of brain aging and neurodegenerative disorders. His research has also elucidated how the brain responds adaptively to challenges such as fasting and exercise, and he has used that information to develop novel interventions to promote optimal brain function throughout life. Dr. Mattson is among the most highly cited neuroscientists in the world with more than 900 publications and 180,000 citations. He was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and has received many awards including the Metropolitan Life Foundation Medical Research Award and the Alzheimer’s Association Zenith Award.

Choosing a career in medicine was once thought to be a "noble" vocation. But, in the United States, the healthcare business has devolved into a massive money-making scheme dominated by health insurance firms, pharmaceutical companies, lawyers, and corporate fatcats. Most healthcare goods in the United States are both concealed and deceptive, and these deceptions are frequently utilized to exploit consumers.
Today, Dr. David Belk disentangles and exposes practically every fraud that occurs in medical billing, prescription medication pricing, and the health insurance sector in the United States. He explains what we need to know about this crucial knowledge, which is critical to comprehending why corporate profiteers must be eliminated from our system and why healthcare finance schemes must be exposed.

"Every time you clear an energetic blockage, every time you open up to something new in your body... every single one of those mini moments is the Kundalini reawakening because it's already awakened and there and coming into full orbit."

Kate O’Donnell, Cate Stillman and Talya Lutzker: Traditions, Rituals, and Transformation with Ayurveda
00:49:15
Podcast Intro:
Good food warms the souls of those who eat it. Families take joy when good food is served at the table, and it is further magnified when it happens during special occasions. But there is a common misconception about good food, good food means expensive! That’s not true at all!
Anyone with a working kitchen, the right ingredients, and the passion to serve good food at the table can create something spectacular. It is the time of year when people recreate family dishes passed down through the centuries. But what if you were to reimagine how these delicacies are made? Learn how to make healthier versions of your favorite Christmas treats by listening to this podcast!
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
What are the triggers and rituals of people in the holidays
Why it is vital to practice drinking hot water added with spices before eating huge meals
How you can reinvent desert to be digestive friendly
Why people should enjoy their meals as they should be and not be too complacent with what society’s been meticulously weighing and scaling food.
Cate talks about her mom cooking treats during holidays
Cate talks about giving out some of the produce from her herb garden
Cate talks about cultivating their own healthy rhythm with food and nourishment and digestion.

[19:48] - Connecting the Family

[41:53] - Cultivating a Healthy Rhythm with Food
Quotes:
“Anytime you add in any social factor to eating, you immediately change it from how it is when you’re just by yourself, like quietly meditatively chewing your bites, tasting your food, and having that presence. But the other thing that I think people struggle with is just eating too much or being tempted by everything else that’s there. And so kind of managing their plate during a holiday meal.”- Talya
“The green is always missing. It feels like an incomplete meal to me without something bitter. This bitterness is a digestive and cleansing taste, which is just so refreshing with all the brown food.”- Kate
“I often find that with tradition, there’s a weightiness of the past, and there’s a beauty to that, but then there can also be a pathology, it just be strong about it. With that where it’s like that was important then because they were working a farm, and those were new things on the horizon, like excess flour and excess sugar was like really new to at least in the American economy, within the last 100 years.”- Cate
“I find the more people have rules around food, the more people are like trying to measure things or the more they’re telling themselves not to eat something that are their trigger foods that they’re like it creates this really false dichotomy. That, to me, is just like a residue of consumer culture. Instead, it is like, how do you really merge with the food because this food will become your body. So don’t have an antagonistic relationship to it like “be all in.” - Cate

“Shivambu” or Urine Therapy with Brother Sage
00:41:26
Is it healthy to drink urine? What are the risks and advantages of doing so? Many individuals are debating whether or not Urine Therapy is genuinely beneficial. Urine Therapy also includes healing from within for you to have a better living. By meditating, self-care, and calming your energy down, you'll have a more precise place or a new canvas that you can paint your new painting or create the next phase of your life.
People who are firm in their urine treatment practice, who have unwavering faith, are attracting all of these people who have given up on the medical industry. But some of those who talk about urine therapy fail their clients because they don't address the four pillars of health: mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional. To level up and increase the quality of your life, you must purify your mind of all unconscious death stuff, self-destructive impulses, self-hatred, and everything else that is cruel and unloving to yourself.
In this episode of the Yogahealer Podcast, Cate Stillman talks with Brother Sage about Shivambu and Urine Therapy. He will share the science behind it and why the centuries-old practice works.

Yoga for Men with Dean Pohlman
00:36:20
Podcast Intro:When men hear the word yoga, what do they think of? If a guy mentions to his friends that he wants to try yoga, the chances are he’ll receive some strange stares in return. But like most common misconceptions, the weird looks stem from being uneducated. When it comes to fitness, many guys are uninformed.
The stigma associated with men and fitness has always been the superficial "macho" look from the onset. We've all been conditioned to believe that the aim of a gym is to gain muscle, get stronger, quicker, and fitter. And it’s no secret that most guys think of yoga as a physical activity more suited to women - but who can blame them? It's difficult to avoid being influenced by social media these days. How many men do you notice in yoga advertisements? Quite a few... Until recently.
Nowadays, men are gaining more confidence to explore new forms of movement, such as yoga. More people are beginning to exercise for themselves rather than for the sake of society. Now, it’s time to debunk these yoga stereotypes once and for all and become more aware of the value of yoga and its beneficial impacts on your bodies.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
Why do we need "yoga for men"?
How yoga helps in fitness performance
How yoga can be integrated into your workout schedule
Experiencing the unified field of physiology when practicing yoga
Reinforcing the importance of the physical movements
The connection between spirituality and yoga
Timestamps:
5:38 - How yoga is different from other exercises
9:33 - Community in yoga
18:23 - Yoga for men
31:11 - Different yoga techniques for mobility
Quotes:
“Mainstream yoga fits a few audiences very well. But there are a lot of audiences that just feel like it's not the right fit for them.”
“Yoga provided a really cool opportunity to actually be able to check-in with your body, and make sure that all of these different aspects of movements and proper exercise were actually happening.”
“Yoga helps direct people's minds to be in the present, to focus on the body and the breathing. That spiritual component sometimes just makes its way into it without me having to really say anything. In that way, it does have the spiritual or maybe you could call it mindfulness or mental benefits.”
“I think that aspect also brings people coming back to yoga with the style which focuses on strength and active mobility because they just feel the results in much less time and much more significantly than other yoga classes that they were doing before this.”

Bone Health, Ayurveda, Osteoporosis and Making Decisions from Your Intuition
00:42:23
Podcast Intro:
What does it mean to put your wisdom into action? What does that mean exactly, and what does it have to do with time? What does this have to do with growing up or getting older? Our bodies should get smarter over time. For wisdom to be embodied, you have to live it, which means you have to do the things you know.
In many ways, we're stuck in allopathic ways of thinking and beliefs. We live in a culture where allopathy is the norm. It's hard to see things from someone else's point of view unless we've somehow risen above our own culture and understood other cultures on a cultural level. Only then do we have the freedom to choose.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
Can you trust yourself?
What’s a woman’s I Ching?
How can you give yourself your own parameters?
What’s your keystone habit?
What happens when you tell people what you're excited about?
Cate recommends the book “A Woman’s I Ching” by Diane Stein. Cate likes Diane’s language about when you don't know these uncertain times.
Cate shares her experience with Indy when they’re on the beach to work out.
Cate reminds everyone to expand their awareness of physiology to understand what other cultures believe about how the body works.

Quotes:
“If someone's always been rebelling against our culture, it really changes things rather than if someone's felt like overwhelmed by culture in the past, and that culture steered their decision making and that's ended up in a place that has been lackluster on the personal empowerment front, left something to be desired.”
“The idea of saying I will not be discussing this, thinking about this. Because my tendency throughout my life has been to be quiet. Just sit there and be stubborn not to do what people want me to do. But just think about the fact that I'm doing that too much, not just settle with it. Think about it too much. Think about it, okay, I'm stubborn, I'm not doing this thing because the only way I can have control over anything in my life is by not doing the thing.”
“From the Vedic tradition, they were very clear about these teachings. If your mind is spinning, you are burning the depth of integrity of your immune system. You're either dispersing it or you're burning it. And so what does this mean? This is so fascinating how resting with ease and full awareness is the practice. It's a choice. It's a habit.”
“Where the senses go, the mind goes. We have to choose, we have to be careful about how we do our sense of organ self-care, and we have to be careful about taking the time that has nothing going on. So that the mind can unwind a bit.”
“You take something if you pull a card like that in the I Ching. And now as a time of waiting, that's how you are able to take action still. So it's not procrastination. It's a conscious engagement with tabling something and building deeper energy in the process.”

Ayurveda, Marma Points, and the Personal Practices of Doctors + Healers: Cate Stillman with Roman Sieler
00:49:30
Podcast Intro:
Scientism has taken over medicine to the point where most of us aren't even aware of it. When seeking research and validation, we must keep in mind that what we currently refer to as science is the study of disease, not human optimization. People that study consciousness look at physiology from a practical standpoint to see what it can do. There are studies in allopathic medicine that focus on chronic disease, but not in a way that tries to look at the big picture of how humans can be healthy. But rather on how they can produce highly specialized, highly individualized medications to combat the consequences of chronic inflammation.
Roman Sieler is a medical anthropologist, wrote a book on marma points, and studied with a yoga sitting Master. Being accepted as a student by a noted guru of the Siddha tradition, Roman was afforded the unique chance to explore a topic shrouded in mystery: the vital spots known as marma in the ayurvedic tradition and as varmam spots among Siddha physicians of South India.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
Relevance of Ayurveda and other "alternative" healthcare methods today: ancient solutions to modern challenges?
Siddha medicine: still flying under the radar, but waiting to be discovered?
Mercury and other controversial therapeutic agents of Indian medicines
Global spread and relevance of medical emancipation: people taking their health into their own hands
What drew Roman to study Indian medicine?
What did Roman notice about the accumulation of practices over time?
What is the effect of breathing through the mouth in yoga?
How did the guru reveal the discovery of the Marmas?
How did Indian astrologers have such insightful knowledge about Star alignments and astrological kinds of confluences?
How does a person's body have to be able to do certain things to practice medicine?
Where is Roman going next, and why?

Quotes:
"Life is about being well or unwell. And most of the time, we struggle between these polls. Different cultures deal with these issues in different ways. And that is very intriguing."
"If you're in the mama practice, you have to look after your own body, you have to look after your own marma points and your planning system because this product system is what allows you to establish a connection to the patient and the patient is not just a number, a name on paper, or a symptom, but the patient is also pranic system."
"I feel that what is close to my heart is empowering patients. Let's empower people to their own lives, health, and disease to be clever enough to lead lives that lead not to that drastic, severe diseases and lifestyle problems."
Guest BIO: Roman Sieler
Roman has a PhD in medical anthropology. This is probably the logical outcome of the fact that he has always been fascinated by different cultures, especially India, and its diverse heritage of history and knowledge and issues related to health and well-being. After some experience in development cooperation in health, Roman has been employed as a lecturer and researcher at different institutions in Germany and India. As part of this, he conducted in-depth and long-term research on Indian medicine: Ayurveda and the lesser-known Siddha and Unani medicines.
Being accepted as a student by a noted guru of the Siddha tradition, Roman was afforded the unique chance to explore a topic shrouded in mystery: the vital spots. Known as marma in the ayurvedic tradition and as varmam spots among Siddha physicians of South India, these spots are vital body centers through which life force, known as prana, flows. Crucial to life, any impairment to the integrity of the prana system and vital spots is likely to result in far-reaching consequences on all levels of physical and psycho-spiritual health. By manually manipulating these vital spots, physicians may address an equally wide-ranging set of ailments. Especially in South India, however, related skills moreover bleed into martial arts practices, as these spots can heal and harm. For this reason, practice and transmission of the vital spot knowledge is usually kept under tight wraps and is not normally revealed to outsiders. Roman's book "Lethal Spots, Vital Secrets: Medicine and Martial Arts in South India" (Oxford University Press, 2015) reflects this and analyzes secrecy and health as related aspects.
Wishing to be more actively engaged in health and the topics he is enthusiastic about, Roman is currently enrolled in an alternative and complementary healthcare course, aspiring to become a naturopathic practitioner.

In any case, we should refrain from interpreting healing practices in too narrow a definition and from avoiding problematic, western dichotomies, such as ‘science’ vs. ‘arts’, or even ‘healing’ vs. ‘fighting’, both in South Asia and in Asia in general.

There's too much stuff in our emotional body that we're not processing. We're just covering up small bits and pieces of food as we go. Emotional inflammation, in addition to physical inflammation, has an impact on our physiology. The negative pressures we face lead to an unhealthy lifestyle that has long-term consequences.
In this episode, Cate Stillman talks about the most prominent negative stressors we have and the root of chronic inflammation. She shares how negative stressors affect emotional and physical health and how we can better care for our physiology. Tune in to learn more!

[27:02] What Happens When We Start to Fast?
[29:13] What happens if you don’t have Autophagy?
Quotes:
“The number one habit that's creating chronic inflammation is eating too frequently. It's a modern culture where we snack late and sit on our asses way too much. We prefer convenience over real food, we make decisions to make us feel good in the short term. They don't make you feel relaxed and aware and like you have all the time and all the money that you need. We end up worrying too much and sacrificing sleep. Those are all a result of decreased neuroplasticity from eating too frequently.”
“As you become more integrated with your physiology through the fasting habit, you actually can activate the deeper muscles of your soul and your abdominal transverse. That also gives you tone in your lower belly, which gives you tone and your lower back. It gives you tone in the side abdominals. What that does is actually accentuates your waist-to-hip ratio. You're also supported in your lower chakras.”
“The more you actually understand your physiology, the more you can get yourself to skip a meal.”
“We have been evolving with bacteria and viruses. Viruses are a much bigger subset of genetic diversity than bacteria. You have your human DNA cells, you have your microbiome cells, and then you have your virus, which is huge and expansive. Our physiology is meant to constantly adapt to what's coming in. We don't get to adapt if we don't have lysosomal action. If that's all going to digest food, you are depleting your adaptability. That will accelerate your aging and it leaves you very vulnerable to new viruses and bacteria entering the evolutionary cycle alongside mammals. It's nothing to be afraid of, but you should know how it works.”

Autoimmune
00:42:07
Podcast Intro:
A well-functioning immune system protects the body against sickness and infection.
When the immune system fails, it destroys healthy cells, tissues, and organs by mistake. These attacks, known as autoimmune diseases, can damage any region of the body, compromising bodily function and potentially posing a life-threatening hazard.
You can imagine that if your cells are attacking each other, there isn't much balance or harmony in the body, which isn't a good foundation for good health. It requires balance and harmony to function properly. So, how do we give our bodies the balance they require?
Tune in as Cate talks about the correlation of autoimmune with habits, and what can you do to target the root cause of this dreaded illness.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
What are the early symptoms of Chronic Diseases
Difference between allostasis and homeostasis in autoimmune

Quotes:
"I also want people with the symptoms of autoimmune where their symptoms without a diagnosis to be able to potentially prevent going down the path of having a scary diagnosis."
"The endocrine system is the big communicator of the body. If we understand that the fatty tissue of the body is an endocrine system right then we have to understand that like okay, the stakes are high if we're carrying too much weight."
"In terms of personality, people with more Vata, or wind in their type, the lighter type, so they'll naturally be excited, they'll naturally be fun to be around, light-hearted, quick to remember, quick to forget, and quick to forgive."
"It's easy for anybody to feel overwhelmed, and what we need to correlate is that overwhelm is an emotion of inflammation. If we entertain that emotion, meaning we don't do something to change our emotional state, what can happen that can turn the tide of a symptom of autoimmune into a disease of autoimmune."
"One of the scariest things about negative bias is it decreases your neuroplasticity. It makes you less able to learn something new. Negative bias to become less capable of diet and lifestyle changes."

"My biggest win is shedding 18 pounds since January.... and I’m healing Lupus” with Body Thrive member Laura Waite
00:34:37
Podcast Intro:
How would you feel if your doctor diagnoses you with an Autoimmune disease? How would you be able to face that reality? These types of questions are the reality that is faced by many.
Many believe that detoxing and creating a positive environment can help “undiagnosed” their autoimmune disease. Repairing the DNA to reverse the diagnosis might sound like fantasy, but it is true and very possible in Laura's case. Tune in as Laura shares her insights and experience in facing her autoimmune disease.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
How can you prevent yourself from putting things in your body that won’t be going to be any good?
How can you do more with less?
Are the studies done with diet and lifestyle modifications?
Cate says that when she is in the group doing a thing, whether it's a challenge, or whether it's the yogi detox, there's this invitation into depth and it feels like a current or it feels like a gravitational pull.
Cate always finds with herbal medicine that if you're not getting the effect, increase the dose, increase the frequency, and see what it can do.
Cate shares her interview with Peter where he devoted his life to understanding the community.

“Connect with as many people as you can and ask questions. The doctor cannot just put all your eggs in one basket.”
“It was really finding out from other people who weren't doctors that got me to ask the important questions.”

Snort
00:27:37
Podcast Intro:
Practitioners of alternative medicine and holistic healers have long debated the efficacy of our current approach to wellbeing, and the disparity has confused the general populace about the various procedures. One of those controversial methods is the use of Urine as a treatment for various diseases. Cate discusses the health benefits of inhaling snorts and using pee for better health and mental clarity. She also talks about how Urine has been used by Yogi practitioners for thousands of years and how it helps the Olfactory System.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
How Olfactory Health Affects Longevity and Quality of life.
How Olfactory Function serves as your first line of defense against pathogens and foreign bodies entering your system.
How urine rejuvenates Sianna and is effective in reversing toxicity.
Cate talks about certain medications that are administered to the body through nasal drug delivery.
Cate talks about early yoga focusing on pranayama and meditation.
Cate talks about using urine to naturally heal the body and enforce a state of repair of its normal state and function.
Cate talks about how Yoga is more focused on health, rather than enlightenment.

Quotes:
“Olfactory dysfunction was an independent risk factor for death, stronger than several common causes of death such as heart failure, lung disease and cancer, indicating that this evolutionarily ancient special sense may signal a key mechanism that affects human longevity.”
“If you want to optimize your brain, short term and long term, you'll want a strong olfactory network.”
“Huffing pee feels like it pumps nitric oxide and gas form through the olfactory network is gentler than snorting and seems to have a less aggressive but equally effective role as bad biofilm remover and nitric oxide optimizer.
“When you snort, you buff out the entire olfactory apparatus, from the nostril wall to a factory bulb to olfactory nerve to the rest of your brain and body.”
“If you're not in a group that has the habits you want, your ability to have those habits will be greatly challenged and delayed. So it's much faster, easier, and way more fun to be in a group that's evolving their habits together.”
“Pee restores functional nasal sinus microbiome, which optimizes the olfactory network and relaxes the emotions.”
“As you rewire yourself, intuitive alignment returns. It's like moving up in video game levels, relying on skills previously earned.”
“If you want a window to monitor brain health, olfactory is your system. Huffing is the gentlest, but like snorting, it's pretty advanced for modern disease to humans. You have to experience it to validate it or dismiss it.”

Nourish Your Holidays with Ayurveda + Yoga with Myra Lewin
00:46:16
Podcast Intro:
Our habits begin with the things that our family does. Eventually, those things are firmly embedded. To truly make a difference requires time, focus, and a shift in energy inwardly. Reconnecting with our bodies is a must.
The process by which behaviors become habitual is known as habit formation. Habits can arise without a person's knowledge, but they can also be cultivated—or eliminated—to better suit one's particular objectives. But how does one go about changing a bad habit? With acclaimed yoga teacher and author Myra Lewis, this episode will discuss how to nourish your holidays through a holistic approach.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
How our Habits are influenced by our family and environment
How our Perspective in Life is essential to our general well-being
How our Negative Thoughts generate negative vibrations into our Bodies
Cate explains how classic holiday recipes have been extensively replicated and have grown unhealthy.
Cate discusses her wrong pattern of overeating and then exercising.
Timestamps:
[06:03 - 06:43] “What we call cause and effect is we take action and there's a result. And we've been taught to pretty much ignore that when it comes to everything outside of us. I'm going to do these things because it seems pleasurable. But tomorrow, I'm going to feel like crap. The foundation of this is we start to see that there's cause and effect. I have control over that, or I can have control over that. ”
[15:52 - 16:20] “Follow your path rather than following everybody else. And it doesn't mean you can't be with them. Perhaps, it takes some inner focus to do that, but then you show up as a light in that environment. That's very different from just being part of the crowd and going along with whatever's happening there.”
Quotes:
"The most essential thing is that we reconnect with our bodies. Many of the things we think, "Oh, it's my body doing this or my body doing that," are actually done by our mind."
"The level of impressions produced, or wounds that occur in the early stages of life is the most powerful piece in terms of modifying our relationship. That relates to our bond with our mother. And whether you think it's amazing or dreadful, it's simply the nature of it, and how you're reacting to it at this time in your life."
"You'll always find out when there's a bad motive. Something that will lead us away from ourselves rather than toward ourselves. And so you have all that success on the surface, and you're empty on the inside."

Quotes:
[01:12] “In modern culture, we get a scary diagnosis like asthma and then we get medication for that, which is chemical medication. In general, it's created by chemistry in the lab. And the issue is that if we don't understand the underlying cause. We never get to the root of the problem of what is causing allergies, asthma, or autoimmune conditions. If we don't get to the root of the issue, then what happens is that issues stack on top of each other.”
[07:23] “Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease. Trying to rewrite our program thinking asthma is something separate from chronic inflammation will remodel the pathways. It is important to understand that asthmatic airway are also characterized by remodeling a term used to define complex morphologic changes involving all the structures of the bronchial wall.”
[14:13] “Bacteria, viruses, archaea, and fungi are there for the functionality of your lung tissue. They're not human DNA cells. They're bacterial and viral cells. When the microbiome of your lungs is happy and healthy, you're not inflamed. They actually eat the inflammation the microbes actually eat the viruses actually eat the inflammation.”

Blood-Clotting Side-Effects from Covid MRNA Vaccines with Dr. Stephanie Seneff
01:01:56
Podcast Intro:
Many individuals compare some of the long-term side effects people are experiencing to long-term COVID after receiving the vaccine. According to estimates, 30% of those who catch COVID develop a long COVID. But it's an unknown factor.
The countries where glyphosate is widely used are those where it accumulates in crops and enters the food chain. Glyphosate exposure, which we frequently experience, interferes with our immune system's ability to combat the virus. Everyone who received the vaccine is suffering from the same impact. If you have a strong immune system, you can handle the vaccine.
Dr. Stephanie Seneff is a senior researcher at MIT and has been working on studies with mRNA vaccines. Today, Cate and Dr. Stephanie will talk about COVID, COVID vaccines, how food affects an individual’s immune system, and how glyphosate plays an essential role in agriculture.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
How to tell the difference between longtail COVID symptoms and vaccine effects
How glyphosate disrupts the innate immune system
How spike protein starts damage within our body
How vaccines make it worse
How glyphosate plays an essential role in agriculture
How vaccinated people can still shed virus
How vaccinations impact fertility
How do someone clear heavy periods and massive blood clots
Cate tells the story about how she goes to the mountain and eats wild plants
Cate shares a story about dandelions weren’t picking up toxins from oil.
Cate tells about her background in reading Eastern medicine.

Quotes:
I've long believed that stress is an agent that induces accelerated evolution. It probably does. Through the viruses, once you have and have stress, your immune system is weak, and the viruses come in and take over.
The herbs are so important. The American diet kind of ignores those things. It's just potato chips and hamburgers and soy protein bars.
Nitrous oxide is 100 times worse than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas.
I think you need to have a healthy immune system if you've got a weak innate immunity. Everything's going to happen slower because you depend upon your immune cells to remove the things that are bad, and it's particularly the spike protein itself.

Addiction Recovery with Durga Leela
00:59:03
Podcast Intro:
Durga Leela (a spiritual name) is a person in long-term recovery, a certified Ayurveda Practitioner, yoga teacher, and yoga therapist (IAYT certified) from the UK and now based in the US. She has shared Yoga as a Recovery Pathway in several Recovery Conferences over the last 20 years. She has also served as the Director of the Ayurveda Programs at the Sivananda Ashram in California since 2003 and is a professional member of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA).
In this episode, she shares her journey of healing and recovery from addiction. She also talks about the issues of Health Care regarding addiction, how she used Yoga to heal from alcoholism, and the emotional and mental health issues surrounding addiction.
Personal story
being achild of an alcoholic,
becomingalcoholicmyself in myteens,
findingyogain my mid-20s,
a fewsuicideattempts,
andlosing my mother to alcoholismwhen I was 32 years old.
Shortly after, I was fired from a job I was headhunted into. Then I “did a geographic”— moving from London to Lake Tahoe to take a year off and sort myself out. But “wherever you go, there you are,” and after nine months in the United States, my new life was inshambles. I once again felt desperate, but this time Itook myself to a meeting of AA(Alcoholics Anonymous)
18 months sober, allopathic medical professionals offered meantidepressantsfor their diagnosis of clinical depression
Book Yoga of Recovery, Integrating Yoga and Ayurveda with Modern Recovery Tools for Addiction - YoR works with people who have a sex addiction, eating disorders, codependents with no substance abuse, and others where substance abuse is present but it is not the primary presenting issue. I work with people 16–84 years old; those who are members of 12-step programs and those who are not. We offer help to those who want to come off the pharmaceuticals they have been prescribed but find they are now dependent on them.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
We talk about the roots of the addictive behaviors: the main causative factor is the ego, the idea of having disconnection from spirit, disconnection from life.
How Ayurveda is a foundational behavioral health care system that can help people thrive in long-term (emotional) sobriety spread addiction - it's not just about alcohol and drugs!addiction is treated by the acute care model but needs a continuum of care from recovery-oriented systems of care - a chronic care model - and overall CARE rather than CURE which tends to be mainly at the level of pharmaceuticals and surgery - but this does not work so well for problems of addiction article: Ayurveda Journal of Health
I truly believe Ayurveda is the best system of behavioral health carefor all modern chronic diseases.
sobriety, service, and fellowship (thethree pillars of 12-step principles)
Addictionis a bio-pscyhosocial-emotional-cultural-economic-political, etc.
“character defects” that underlie all addictions—the one that is most ubiquitous being our tendency towardcodependency—our ability to see in the other what is wrong but not be able to see or deal with it in ourselves
“Svastha”— and addiction
UT and “Svastha”
This was very interesting to me as it fits with what I’d been told in AA—that addiction was a “spiritual malady” and I was “spiritually sick.” Ayurveda describes all diseases as “forgetting our true nature is spirit.”
Dr. Harikrishnan, Medical Director of Vaidyagram Ayurvedic Clinic in Coimbatore, India, states, "Addiction arises when we lose the purpose of our life. Vedic literature tells us we only get a human birth after several thousand other lives. The purpose of human life is to evolve, to go to a further level. When you have a bigger purpose, this guides you better in how to live each day.
PK and recovery to reset cellularly. Dr. Harikrishnan, “We recommend cleansing the body through PanchaKarma-this eliminates the toxins and allows you a break from the circumstances-time away to cleanse and calm down, introduce new practices, change your lifestyle, and feel the effects of the new habits. It takes three months for food to go to the seventh tissue; within three months, our body is completely changed. Hence it is ideal for spending a minimum of six weeks to three months in a staged recovery process.”YoR offers Ayurvedic Pancha karma retreats in India.
Out-of-pocket spending vs. what is covered by gov’t or insurance.
The first stage is the deep cleanse; the second stage is learning both the principles and tools of Yoga and Ayurveda to help us make better decisions, and the third stage gives time to offer service to the others-the best way to get out of self. This increases confidence and self-esteem and allows us to share the gifts of our recovery with others. We then go back to live our lives knowing that we have a purpose, feeling calmer and stronger, knowing our capacity, pacifying Vata by eating properly and applying oil daily. (From the Book - online course - YoR Between the mat and the meeting - Ayurveda for our addictiveness; Understanding of our suffering determines the nature of our recovery)

Emotional Inflammation in a Crazy World on a Sacred Planet with Dr. Lise Van Susteren
00:50:46
Podcast Intro:
When it comes to climate change, we've all heard about droughts and flooding and the impact on agriculture and infrastructure from extreme weather events such as hurricanes. However, we may not hear as much about climate change's physical and mental health consequences.
Natural disasters can negatively impact health and emotional well-being. People who are affected by extreme weather events and slow-moving disasters, such as droughts, face a wide range of challenges in their lives. Mental health repercussions of climate change events include mild stress and anguish, high-risk coping behaviors such as increased alcohol use, and occasionally mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Dr. Lise Van Susteren is an expert on climate change's physical and psychological impacts. She earned her Ph.D. in Geography at the University of Groningen, Netherlands, and has been researching climate change since 2007. She has written several books on the subject, including The Heat Is On: The Science, Politics, and Solutions to Global Warming (2016) and The Climate Crisis: Dispatches from the Front Lines (2017). In this episode, she shares knowledge on climate change, how it affects the health of many people, and what actions we must take to get better.
Cate talks about the global economy and interconnected communities

“Our brains have gotten further and further away from the natural systems that define us, and that has caused an enormous amount of anxiety and self-destructive component to that anxiety.”
“We are under pressure and will make decisions that may reflect our willingness to trade long-held values for promises of security.”
“Perhaps Mother Nature has a much more elegant plan in mind, just to keep us from focusing on a particular theme of population reduction.”
“It is our unified voice that changes the market forces that drive social norms and creates and reinforces the momentum that we require.”
“I deal with anxiety by closing my eyes to the objections, persisting, and remembering that I will always have a few people on my side.”
Guest: Dr. Lise Van Susteren
Dr. Lise Van Susteren is a general and forensic psychiatrist in Washington, DC, and an expert on the physical and psychological impacts of climate change. Podcast Intro:
We are now experiencing extreme weather events and conditions predicted for 30 years or more. And this is just the beginning. This is the hour when Mother Nature gets rolling.
The important thing for people to realize is that the EPA has many levers under the Toxic Substances Control Act. For example, they can regulate the industry with a fee and dividend so that they charge taxes on the fossil fuel industry. And those taxes are 100% refunded to the public, based on the public's financial needs.
Dr. Lise Van Susteren is an expert on climate change's physical and psychological impacts and was behind implementing the Toxic Substances Control Act. Today, Cate and Lise Van Susteren will talk about the power of the Toxic Substances Control Act and its effect on large industries, how politics is hugely involved in protecting the environment, and the emotional effect on every individual.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
How does Toxic Substance Control Act work?
How large can the Toxic Substances Control Act affects industries?
How the Politics block things, not the public?
How do environmental problems affect an individual’s emotional state?
Deciding that carbon dioxide is a toxic substance defined by law would only be the first step. The EPA would have to formulate and implement rules that could, for example, impose a fee on carbon emissions and require companies to remove carbon from the atmosphere they have already expelled.
But it’s all there in black and white in the Toxic Substances Control Act, which passed and was amended with bipartisan support. Textualists will have to tie themselves in knots to explain why the law’s words don’t mean what they clearly say.

Quotes:
Frankly, it's not the public so much anymore. It's the political world that is blocking things. And it's just a few people.
You get the people who care the most, are the most sensitive, and they'll become the most depressed and despondent on not wanting to reproduce.
If we want to change society, it's by connecting with the people that were connected to. So that's one of the key elements that people don't always realize.
We have the power to design the future the way we want, the way we know, and we should, ethically.
We're spending about $150 billion a year on cleanup. And suppose you take the national average inflation-adjusted. In that case, that's about three times the amount in the 40 years before the last five years and three times the annual amount we used to need to clean up after extreme weather.

Evolve Men with Angus Nelson
01:08:10
Podcast Intro:
Men are expected to be strong and mighty. This causes them to keep everything to themselves, not wanting to appear weak. They often keep their emotions to themselves as they believe that they will be used against them once they show their weakness. This prevents them from being happy as they have to pretend what society has imposed on them and hide their feelings.
In recent years, society has developed a variety of demands that require a variety of approaches. To meet these demands, men need to adapt. The process of understanding what needs to be done involves growth and development.
Angus Nelson is a coach and the founder of Evolve Men Coaching. He is among the nation's leading performance strategists as he helps ambitious men achieve freedom, happiness, and purpose. “It's not that we pursue happiness because that will be fleeting. You're going to be chasing that all the time. It's filling your life with the things that naturally and effervescently give you happiness and joy.”
“Until a man knows who he is, he can never become or be anything outside of that.”
“All that identity shifting we did in the beginning now brings about these new opportunities. Because you've upgraded yourself, you want to attract your brain and this equilibrium to attract these higher frequent levels, relationships, experiences, and opportunities.”
“Just like everything else, we attract what we are. If we're trying to pursue these great and mighty things, what we find is that those great and mighty things are filled with emptiness. Because we're doing them out of the pursuit of validation.”
“Transformation in your life is nothing more than having a context of tools that help you advance your understanding, yielding, and letting go.”
“I'm giving myself permission, and that permission is all the power you need.”

Meditation: Rituals and Habits of Your Future Self
00:19:41
Say you want to meditate. Say you want more sleep. Say you want to slim down by extending your fasting time. The habits of the person you want to become next… those habits you can make your reality more quickly if you know how to do exactly what I walk you through in this meditation. For strict meditators… this isn’t really a meditation. Technically, it’s an inquiry practice. A practice where you ask yourself a question. Then you listen. Then you stabilize the answer in your cells. The yogis knew about this forever. It’s very effective. When you mix inquiry practice with mental rehearsal, or visualization, stepping into new habits is easy. Resistance is digested by the practice. With this meditation - if you do it a few times a week - you’ll notice you accelerate your life. You design who want to become next with ease… and with precision.

Gut Immune Connection with Dr. Emeran Mayer
00:45:26
Podcast Intro:
Immunity refers to an organism's ability to withstand a specific virus or poison through the use of specialized antibodies or sensitized white blood cells. We prefer to sacrifice healthy selections for the sake of saving time in this fast-paced atmosphere where fast foods are abundant. On the other hand, what are the negative consequences of these actions?
With many businesses competing with one another, and with the high demand for food relative to the continuous growth in population, companies are now churning out processed and cheap food rapidly. The lack of education and the rise of daily expenses on necessities, such as food, allowed people to compromise. Now, the pandemic accelerated and made things worse. What are the factors and effects that unhealthy food consumption leads to? Tune in as Dr. Emeran Meyer discusses the gut-immune relationship in this episode.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
What is the “One Health Concept”
What is the importance of the soil microbiome for plant and human health
What are the mind-gut microbiome system and its role in health and disease
What is the key to longevity and good health
How the microbiome determines the strength of your immune system and your immune resistance.
How to increase the abundance of microbes in your gut.
How lifestyle determines your chances of surviving pandemics that are about to come in the future.

33:41 - Scientific vs. Empirical Evidence
37:05 - Ancient vs. Modern Concepts
40:53 - Learning from the Ancient Sages
Quotes:
“The fact that today, we see this increasing prevalence of autoimmune diseases and allergies and food sensitivities. Many people think it has a lot to do with the altered interaction we have, as infants in a much more sterile environment. Where we have banned microbes from the time of deliveries, or C sections and sterile hospital environments, to antibiotics early on, prematurely born babies ending up in intensive care units being loaded with antibiotics for four weeks sometimes.”
“Early in life in terms of the natural exposure, Homo sapiens have had to their environment, including going through the birth canal, and picking up some of the good bacteria in the birth canal, which helps start to build the baby immune system is even like upon injection, right from the mom’s body to then what we do. And if we look back, historically, there was a lot of skin-to-skin contact with newborns. There’s a lot of mixing of the environment with the infant. And that helped create a baseline immune system, an innate immune system that was stronger.”
“When we look in any indigenous culture, usually there’s some relationship with a specific type of traditional fermented foods. And so in ayurvedic medicine, it was always considered to pacify Vata, which is the wind force, which creates the issues primarily in the nervous system first, and then the digestive system second, and it’s like the nerves that upset the digestive system, like just being nervous, being anxious, being worried more of the people that are on the lighter side have less consistency with digestive capacity.”
“The immune activation happens in the gut. So, these microbes are only microns away from immune cells. And it’s the only separation not even from the real physical barrier, but from this mucous layer produced by some cells in the gut in the colon. And so, the margin for error is pretty small, and if you change that mucous layer just a little bit, you will already get contact between microbes and these immune sensors.”
“People always talk about how we need to boost our immune system. With COVID-19, it’s the opposite. You want to prevent this excessive response. An excessive response happens because the immune cells are programmed in a non-adaptive way in their passage through the gut.”
Guest BIO: Emeran Mayer
Dr. Mayer is a Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and Executive Director of the G Oppenheimer Center for Neurobiology of Stress & Resilience.

He has published close to 400 scientific papers and several books and has received multiple awards.
In addition to his academic interests, Mayer has a longstanding interest in ancient healing traditions and has been involved in documentary film productions about the Yanomami people in the Orinoco region of Venezuela, and the Asmat people in Irian Jaya. He has recently co-produced the award-winning documentary “In Search of Balance” and is working on a new documentary “Interconnected Planet”. He has appeared on numerous podcasts, including Lewis Howes’ The School of Greatness, Tom Bilyeu’s Impact Theory, and Mark Hyman’s The Doctor’s Pharmacy. He is the author of the 2016 bestselling book The Mind Gut Connection published by Harper&Collins and translated into 16 languages.
In his new book, The Gut Immune Connection, Mayer proposes a radical, unifying concept about the chronic non-communicable disease epidemic we are finding ourselves in. He discusses how changes in our diet, lifestyle, and the way we interact with the world during the last 75 years have led to a profound dysregulation of the community of trillions of microbes living in our gut, resulting in a progressive chronic activation of our immune system. This aberrant immune system activation is emerging as the root cause of our current epidemic of interrelated chronic diseases affecting every part of our body. In addition, it makes us more vulnerable to viral pandemics. He uses the One Health concept to explain the intricate interconnectedness between the microbes living in our gut, in the soil, the health of our plants, and our own health.

"When you get on the other side of the intermittent fasting habit. I promise this doesn't occur to you to think about food. Not in that way. You go to the refrigerator; there happens to be food; maybe your future self did some things to help prepare food so that it's really simple to make your glorious meal and nourish your glorious soul."
"There are opportunities everywhere you look all the time, all the time, and they keep getting better. You know what to say yes to, and that's what you choose to do with your focus."
"The culture is so toxic that you don't design your own lifestyle super intelligently. Like you cannot assume that like the normal around you has the right answers."
"Trust increased communication and all that's coming from like, you're more honest in yourself because intermittent fasting is going to take out it's going to refine self at the heart of it."

Vata, Pitta, Kapha: Inflammation and Disease in Ayurveda
00:42:58
Podcast Intro:
There's more and more literature coming out of the scientific community around inflammation. The more someone feels like they don't know why it happened to them, why that gland or tissue organ system went diseased, or understanding what systems are involved, can be even scarier than it may need to be.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
What’s the Vata type shape?
How the nervous system goes towards an adrenaline state?
Cate explains that the thing that’s happening to Vata is because we have the exposed nervous system, and the VUCA world naturally has negative stressors on the mind. So it's going to negatively stress the mind.
The whole physiology is trying to smartly evolve. And so it's not going regenerative. Cells that are going mutation are degenerative.

Quotes:
“From the Vata perspective, there's all this massive change affecting the nervous systems, affecting the emotional body. And so it's destabilizing to someone who's naturally going to go out of balance towards instability. “
“Any situation where you feel like there's no possible action to take can be a negative stressor.”
“The yogi's got this connection of energy production and insight which requires the rest and digest function, that is also important for Pitta to do what it is designed to do.”
“Anything that has to do with hyperacidity goes right in the Pitta category.”

How to Activate Your Intuition
00:25:20
This podcast by Cate Stillman highlights the focus towards evolving the perspective of people. People should consider taking care of their health, but should not omit the habit of learning how to optimize their thinking in a way that goes well with their behavior.
She elaborates that people should act out their intuition in real-time. She gave an instance of working on intuition like a flash of shutter speed. It meant that people should not keep second thoughts upon their intuitions and act upon it right away!
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
How to evolve one’s Perspective?
How to think in a way that optimizes your behavior?
How to Build the Ayurvedic Habit of the Seasonal Cleanse: Ritual and Ritu Charya
00:24:50
Podcast Intro:
Everything is intertwined here on earth. Man has established these invisible yet strong connections with nature since the dawn of evolution. But what happens when these are out of sync? Would that impact the quality of the being navigating through the vast range of this planet? Join Cate Stillman as she talks about Ayurvedic Rhythms in-depth and how it affects the quality of your life here on earth.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
What are the consequences of living against the rhythm of life
How falling out of Rhythm correlates with your statute in life
Why is it necessary to give yourself a break when experiencing season/weather change
How treating the earth as a finite resource constitutes a prospective problem and fragility
Cate talks about Ahamkara identifying more as an individual than a rhythm
Cate talks about individuals treating the earth as an infinite source
Cate talks about Ugni Changes relative to Rhythm

[12:34] To give the body a break, we need to give the mind a break
[13:47] Aging is when you're against the rhythm
[18:21] Ritu Charya is a habit
[19:28] Ritu Charya as a positive stressor
[23:28] Ritu Charya is not an option. It's an evolution of habit.
Quotes:
When the seasons change, what we want to do is give the body a break. To give the body a break, we need to give the mind a break.
There's a problem where our global economic system is treating the Earth as an infinite resource, but the Earth is a finite resource. Seeing ourselves outside of the planet we live on it's a perspective problem, and these problems create fragility.
When we live against the rhythm, I want you to equate that with fragility. So to become antifragile means, we pay more and more attention to rhythm.
There's an understanding in seasonal change that there's an accumulation of the past season - the energies and forces of the past seasons, they accumulate.
Give up a bit. Allow a little more space, light, silence, listen to and receive the rhythm, go for walks so you can feel the beat of the Earth, take the earbuds out and notice the weather and the sky.

What is Medicine? Cate reads from WILD HABITS on Chronic Inflammation, the Pharmaceutical Epidemic and How to Heal
00:25:08
Podcast Intro:
Taking medication is a normal part of many people's daily routine, and these medications are used to treat disease and promote health. Although medications can help you feel better and recover, it is vital to understand that all medications, both prescription and over-the-counter, have risks as well as benefits.
The advantages of drugs are the beneficial results they provide when used, such as decreasing blood pressure, curing infection, or relieving pain. But what are the chances that anything unfavorable or unexpected may happen to you if you utilize them? How can you assess the risks and advantages while deciding which medications to use? How can lifestyle change, diet, and medication help you control chronic diseases?
When the advantages of treatment outweigh the known hazards, the FDA considers it safe enough to approve. However, before using any medicine, as with many other things you do on a daily basis, you should weigh the benefits and risks in order to make the best decision for you.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
The study of drug versus lifestyle changes in patients
FDA is mechanized to protect big pharmaceutical companies
How drug advertisements are unregulated
How drugs are not tested with diets and lifestyle changes for efficacy.
What is the placebo effect
How wild habits organize you
What are the unconventional habits are your best medicine
How chronic inflammation is driven by habits
The devastating effect of the microbiome that leads to dementia
Cate encourages listeners to know more about what a particular disease and its chronic symptoms look like so you can make a distinction between chronic inflammation over acute ones
Cate discusses that the generational split is around 30% of adolescents 50% of adults 85% of elders who overconsume drugs according to statistics.
Cate talks about Modern Medicines are formulated to treat acute conditions rather than chronic inflammation
Cate talks about the relationship between microbiome and serotonin

Quotes:
“Wherever the art of medicine is loved, there is also a love of humanity.”
“If you're tapped into your senses and nature every while that human medicine is everywhere, from your own mind to walking outside to harvesting invasive weeds in your ecosystem.”
“If you have symptoms or a disease of chronic inflammation, you may be more vulnerable to promises of drugs marketed by pharmaceutical companies, driven by profit for shareholders.”
“There's an entire mechanism established for testing drugs. There isn't an entire mechanism established in terms of scientific rigor for testing lifestyle changes.”
“It just doesn't make sense to me to allow a drug to be advertised as preventing cardiovascular disease. When you have included lifestyle changes as an arm in the study. It's just so crystal clear that the purpose of the study is to sell the drug. It's not to prevent cardiovascular disease.“
“We know why drugs can't get to the root generation of chronic inflammation, but can alter how the body responds to chronic inflammatory habits. But how overdosed are we and does that hinder reversing chronic?”
“Humans as a species are drugged at epidemic inflationary rates.”
“Because drugs don't sell themselves, the drug makers buy media in the form of advertising, which in the US is largely unregulated.”
“Almost half of all ad dollars are centered on prescription drugs to treat chronic conditions like arthritis, diabetes, and depression.”
“The conglomeration of the food industry, advertising industry, Big Pharma and healthcare, and big media make short-term gains for stockholders at the expense of overdosing the population. All these trends are shepherded by the US the trend is global”
“Shareholders profit while the species generate the lack of integrity and big picture solutions lead to a physiological and psychological breakdown at the epigenetic and genetic level.”
“Drugs cause dysbiosis, promoting more inflammation, hindering digestion, doubling emotional sensitivity, and come with specific unrelated side effects.”
“Symptoms of chronic inflammation are meant to force our hand to wake up to develop antifragile habits of resilience.”
“Rewiring habits is the way out of the pain cave.”
“Wild habits shift your mindset towards the positive so you can preference your future self over your current habits leading to breakthroughs.”

Weight Creep
00:47:40
Podcast Intro: A lot of people experience Weight Creep, a phase where we suddenly gain weight, and they find it hard to reverse the effects. Some just accept while others are determined to fight the weight gain.
It’s easy to think that Intermittent fasting, working out, and proper dieting is the solution to weight creep. But what if there is an underlying layer to the issue of gaining weight? In this episode, Cate will talk about Weight Creep, what is going on with the body when gaining weight, and why it is a big deal.
What you’ll get out of tuning in:
How to fight weight gain
How to fight hunger while fasting
How to prevent dysmetabolism
How long you should do intermittent fasting
How to find the root of why you are gaining weight
Cate says that weight creep is chronic inflammation. The body is in a constant state of high alert and is releasing inflammatory chemicals. It heavily affects the fat cells, blood cells, and the body's many different systems and can be a cause or consequence of multiple diseases.
Cate shares that she has been in health and wellness since she was 16. She shares that she had a weight creep at the time when she first got into health and wellness, trying to find the cause of her migraines and allergies. She would read books about health and wellness trying to find answers.
Cate shares that she had been pushing her body where she would only snack on dark chocolate. She didn't know that she was already fasting until she got into the world of intermittent fasting. She says that there was a part of her that was thinking too much about food.

Quotes:
“Weight is a side effect of so much else going wrong. If we look at the habits, it's like inflation where there's a problem. Solving the problem would require work. But you don't want to do the work and so, you just print money. The same thing is happening with negative stressors where our weight is creeping.”
“When you do the hard work, even if it's simply hard work, everything gets better. Everything gets better, even with the problems underneath the weight. We want to look at the problems underneath the weight.”
“Think of yourself so much more as a closed system than an open system. We are so incredibly durable as mammals, which can be seen with our pets. We are built for survival. We are not built in a delicate way like our entire ancestral past.”
“It's not about forcing the body to fast longer. It's about finding deep satiation in life. How long it takes is going to depend on how you deeply want to get under the layers of why you are overeating, why you are putting on too much, and why you are not letting your fat cells circulate.”
