18 May 2022The Year Is 1888 With Guest Host Luke Chilton - Part 101:07:28

It's 1888 and brilliant comedian Luke Chilton joins Bobby for a kombucha fuelled first 2 part episode. We learn that 1888 is the year with the longest Roman numerals, women's rights activist Susan B Anthony votes illegally, the National Geographic is founded, and the earliest evidence of a death and injury from a meteorite is discovered in Iraq, and artist Vincent Van Gogh chops off part of his ear. We hear about Bobby's early job at a nightmare Indian restaurant in Canada, and we also learn more about Luke Chilton's life than he probably anticipated he would share on a podcast.

25 May 2022The Year Is 1969 - Part 1 - The King Is Back00:53:39

The King is back. Red Richardson returns and brings with him knowledge of a bygone era in 1969, when the legendary Summer of '69 Woodstock Festival takes place, and Rupert Murdoch buys the largest selling British Sunday phone hacking newspaper The News of The World. Also we learn a lot about how much time Red spent on his honeymoon speaking to Bobby, as well as Death Island, and play a very exciting game of Shag, Marry, Kill.

Bobby and Red had a lot to catch up on so this is a two parter, and you can catch part 2 on our Patreon later this week, where we discuss John Lennon and Yoko Ono's "Bed-In" for peace, the earliest confirmed case of HIV/AIDS in North America, and members of the Charles Manson family cult kill Sharon Tate, and four friends.

01 Jun 2022The Year Is 2006 With Special Guest Tim Renkow01:18:09

Our BAFTA-Nominated friend, the very funny Tim Renkow helps us work out the meaning of 2006, when the crocodile hunter Steve Irwin was unexpectedly killed by a stingray, Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was executed, 140 character social media giant, Twitter was created by someone, and a Jackson Pollock painting was the most expensive painting ever sold at auction to music mogul David Geffen - much to art critic Red Richardson's disapproval. 08 Jun 2022The Year Is 186601:07:34

As soon as Jody has finally finished setting up the studio to record we can take you back to 1866, suggested by Red and researched by Bobby so a real team effort. A year that sees the SS Great Eastern completes laying the transatlantic telegraph cable between Ireland and Newfoundland, Paraguay defends Curupayty against the Paraguayan War, whilst managing to kill more than 5,000 of their opponents whilst only suffering 50 casualties, Alfred Nobel invents dynamite and then is so ashamed of himself and his legacy he creates the global peace prize, the first daylight bank robbery in peacetime United States history takes place in Missouri, and the Dick of the Year is a famine in Finland that arguably wouldn't have occurred if Red Richardson had been present to advise them a simple way out of it.

28 Jun 20231935 - Titanic Submersible, Shark Arm Case, Driving Tests, Sonny Bono, Jerry Lee Lewis, Lindbergh Baby, Robert Downey Senior, Hitler Reorganises the Luftwaffe00:53:55

Explorer Red Richardson takes us to the depths of 1935 but not before some chat about the Titanic Titan Submersible that captured everyone's attention and imaginations this week. Of course the first thing that catches his attention is shark that vomited a murder victim's arm, driving tests become compulsory, Sonny Bono, Jerry Lee Lewis and Robert Downey Senior were all born, the Lindbergh Baby is kidnapped, and Nazi leader Adolf Hitler reorganises the Luftwaffe.

Also it's very hot, Val Kilmer, shooting cows with a bazooka, and we argue the difference between titan and titanic.

P.S. There's a mistake in this episode. Can you find it before Red does?
