06 Dec 2022 | An honest conversation with my Mom | 03:01:59
Today is a special episode featuring none other than my Mom. My mom was the first one to introduce me to fly fishing and she’s been my number 1 supporter of Wild Fly since Day 1. Just last year, she left her job to come work for me full time to handle our merch fulfillment operations. So anytime one of you orders a piece of gear from us, she is the one handling it. In this episode, we talk about what it’s been like for her to step into this position, especially with me living in Utah now. We also dive into our family lineage in fly fishing, her upbringing in the outdoors and what the early days of Wild Fly looked like. I have always wanted to have a conversation like this with her and I’m excited to share it with all of you.
12 Feb 2023 | Our 130-Mile Fly Fishing & Bikepacking Trip through Idaho (THE FULL STORY) | 01:26:54
Just a few weeks ago, I didn’t even own a bike. But here we were, climbing up an old service road in the middle of nowhere Idaho and I was starting to feel the reality of my inexperience. We were here to fish, but truthfully it was hard to even think about fishing with what was ahead of us. We were deep in bear country with no cell service, no support vehicle, and no option of turning around. It was just us, our bikes, and hopefully everything we needed to survive for the next six days.

11 Nov 2020 | #01 Blue Line Co. | Appreciating your local fisheries, DIY adventure and Short Bus Diaries shenanigans | 01:49:52
To kick the podcast off on the right foot, I had my friends Adam & Steve from Blue Line Flies on to talk. Adam and Steve are lifelong best friends from Northern Alabama who grew up chasing smallmouth on their local rivers. With no fly shop in their area, they were left having to get their hands dirty and figure out how this whole fly fishing thing was done, on their own. Fly tying became a necessity for them with a lack of accessibility to flies & outfitters. This all played into the formation of Blue Line Flies and what it is today. Adam & Steve offer some great lessons for anglers--of all levels--as they had to figure out much of what they know on their own. They highlight their shortcomings when growing up and how other anglers can excel quicker than they did. We also talk about the Short Bus Diaries, Northern Natives and other film projects we are working on. You'll get to hear more about how we met and how we started making trips together. This was an awesome conversation and I hope you all enjoy. Check out Blue Line Flies here to support https://www.bluelineflies.com/
30 Nov 2020 | #02 Bryant Patterson | How to improve your fishing films, Googan Squad, & the importance of sound design | 01:38:51
In this episode, my friend Bryant Patterson joins me to talk all about filmmaking, fishing, and working with the Googan Squad. Bryant is an extremely talented filmmaker, photographer, and just overall creative. He grew up in Northern Alabama chasing smallmouth bass in the surrounding areas. He started bringing a camera along on his trips and documenting his time fishing. His passion for filmmaking and fly fishing grew together as he went into college and by the end of school, he was on his way to making a career for himself in the filmmaking world. Bryant now works for the well-known Fishing company "The Googan Squad" and has worked with some of the biggest fishing brands in the industry. Over the last few years, he has really dialed in his production process and we talk about that in the conversation. He also shares some valuable advice for filmmakers, especially in the fishing world. With Bryant always behind the camera, it was fun getting to sit down and pick his brain on his process and what lead him down this career path. Hope you enjoy it!
09 Dec 2020 | #03 Max Beck | College Guide Turned Fly Shop Owner | 01:57:13
In this episode, Max Beck joins me to talk about guiding in college, lessons he's learned from fly fishing, and taking over Due South Outfitters. 2020 has been an amazing year for Max as he graduated college, became the owner of Due South Outfitters, and even got married! He's a stand-up guy and one badass guide. I had a lot of fun hearing about his upbringing and what lead him to fishing and eventually how he landed at App State. In his college years, he spent almost more time on the water than he did in class while still maintaining a top tier GPA. His growth as an angler happened quite exponentially during college which truly exemplifies the importance of Time On the Water. There are a lot of valuable nuggets of wisdom to take away from this conversation and I hope you guys enjoy it!
29 Dec 2020 | #04 The WILD FLY Story | Christmas Edition Podcast | 01:30:36
This episode is a special one. My cousins Adam, David, & Charlie joined me on the podcast for our Christmas Edition episode. These are the guys I grew up with, started fly fishing with, & started filming Wild Fly videos with. They have been here since Day 1 of Wild Fly and have seen it mature at almost every step. It was so much fun to talk about old fishing stories and how fly fishing has kept us so connected even to this day. If you've ever been curious about how this all came to be, this is a great episode for ya and I hope you enjoy it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Chelsea Burkett is a graphic designer from Tennessee who now lives in Charleston, South Carolina. She is also the mastermind behind the recent Wild Fly branding & apparel designs. I've had the pleasure of working with her for over a year and a half now and she has really helped us formulate a style, that is unique to us. In this conversation, we got to talk about how she was introduced to the world of design, the challenges she's dealt with, and the valuable lessons she's learned as a freelancer. 08 Feb 2021 | #06 Karson Decker | How to Master Small Stream Fishing, Finding New Creeks & Native Brook Trout | 02:16:29
Karson Decker is a Boone, North Carolina Native and knows just about everything you need to know about Small Stream fishing. He started working at Due South Outfitters when he was 14 and took his first guided trip at 15. He's only 20 now but he's one of the best fly fishermen that I know. We are also joined by, Max Beck, the owner of Due South Outfitters (who was on EP #03). Being that we all reside in Boone, NC, small stream fishing is our jam. So, I took to Instagram and had you guys send in questions about Small Stream fishing. We received hundreds of questions and in this episode, we got to tackle some of those. Karson & Max offer a lot of tangible advice for anyone interested in upping their small stream game and anyone trying to find new places to fish. We talk about local privatization issues we face in North Carolina and how you can get away from pressured fisheries. Our hope, with this episode, is that you can take some of these tools away and apply them to your own fly fishing game. This isn't about the places we have fished, the flies we use, or the gear we like but rather a conversation that can be a catalyst. A catalyst to help you take initiative in getting out and growing as an angler, yourself. We hope you enjoy it and please share this with anyone else who could benefit from this conversation.
15 Feb 2021 | #07 Goth Babe | Making Music out of a Truck Camper & Living Intentionally through the Outdoors | 01:00:28
Griff Washburn (aka Goth Babe) is a musician, avid outdoorsman, and overall badass. He started out his music career recording songs in his Truck camper while traveling out west. He now lives in a tiny home—that he built—and has over 1.6 Million monthly listeners on Spotify. His recording process is simple yet unique as he’s able to create such a full sound with limited resources and space. When he’s not recording music, you can find him surfing, climbing, snowboarding, or riding motorcycles and probably somewhere out of service. I enjoyed getting to talk with him about his story, his process, and what drives him as an artist. If you haven’t already, go check out Goth Babe on any music platform, I promise you won’t regret it.
