20 Aug 2022 | #3: Three Must Hear Track for Rock n' Rollers and HipHop Lovers | 00:16:38
Here’s what it’s all about... I took short clips from 3 songs… play them… talk about them… and a few personal stories surround them. SONG ONE Do you remember Captain Spaulding from The Devil's Rejects? He's the clown in that movie. Creepy as hell. Imagine that guy ate 6 hits of acid, a line of that white powder, and started walking out into the desert whilst humming a “rock n’ mantra” for spiritually enlightening the darkness... … What would the soundtrack to his MIND sound like? Probably amazingly weird, yeah? Well, buckle up, kiddo: the first song I reference IS from the desert, and may just fuck with your mind. M’kay… SONG TWO It is the last song on an album which won the 2012 R&B Grammy. The song is actually a cover, though. It's a cover of the indisputable instigators of grunge, Nirvana. Your intellectual chakras may get cleansed out and spin clockwise in full rainbow cover as the result of this tune. Yeppers… SONG THREE: “Mic check, mothaphucking representin’ deez nuts.” If you've ever wondered what it's like to sell some crack cocaine, pimp big booty hoes, and pack a Glock 19 for your gang warfare in Compton in 1993… … then this boogielicious groove may shed some insight on your curiosity. It may also inspire the behavior necessary to build a new criminal enterprise. Lovely.

If I wrote a good song, it wasn’t necessarily me; I’m just in service of something else.” He also speaks candidly about the magic of live shows: “When I’m on stage, that’s my chance to express who I really am. Offstage, I might have a persona, but on stage, I feel huge, like I’m truly myself.” And for Lukie, creating music means pushing boundaries: “For me, the melody always comes first. Lyrics are the last thing written, which keeps the songs open to any interpretation from listeners.” Join us as we dive into the artistry and philosophy that drive Night Lunch’s sound and learn why, for Lukie, music is all about helping people escape into something larger than life.

30 Oct 2024 | #49: Sex, Love & Music (About Artist Attachment in Relationships) | 00:42:21
One of the hardest ones to publish for fear of ridicule and shaming. But I know a lot of other people struggle with this topic. By sharing, I hope the right people will know they’re not alone. Here’s the deal: . How does sex and love mix with performance artists? . Us… This big group of wingbat rainbows, doing whatever the hell we want (with rules). The creative mind and all of its cat wrangling… Fleeting flings… Deep-seated emotional ouchies… Empty holes that need a hug… The “Real” Thing… … How do these interface with our primal instinct for smooches and cuddles? In this episode, I talk about: Recognizing My Attachment Patterns: I open up about my own struggles with attachment and how unresolved emotions from past addiction issues resurface in my relationships. It's like facing a recurring pattern—a "fractal" quality in emotions, where dealing with one problem opens the door to recognizing similar issues in other areas of my life, particularly with love and attachment. Balancing My Performer and Private Self: I dig into the challenge of being a musician, how my onstage persona can feel like a mask, and how that impacts my sense of self-worth. There’s a particular post-performance emptiness that I often try to fill with relationships, which I’m beginning to understand can lead to a cycle of dependency. Growth Through Honest Reflection: I share my journey toward deeper self-awareness, realizing how certain habits and behaviors reveal a need for validation that doesn’t actually satisfy. By embracing self-reflection, I’m finding ways to reshape my approach to love and relationships into something more genuine—moving from dependency to a place of wholeness, where I can grow with someone else without losing myself in the process. …. Yikes… My inner critic is flexing hard to retain my sense of pride on this one, dude. Whatever. Phok that guy. Hugs, Colin
