12 Apr 2020 | 003: Handling setbacks & working for yourself vs working for someone else | 00:45:29
This week I talk all about a recent setback I’ve been delt & how I’ve gone about handling that over the last few weeks. It can be impossible to see past the horizon when you’re put into a situation that’s forces a pause on your progress, in whatever circumstance. And that’s something we’re all going through right now around the world. So this weeks episode is a great listen for those of you feeling like you haven’t been able to regain that momentum you had before all this. I also cover a little on the benefits and downsides of working for yourself, compared to working for someone else. Which was a great topic, so hang around till the end of the episode to listen to that!
30 Mar 2020 | Welcome to episode one of the Reel Life podcast! | Reel Life Ep.1 | 00:44:27
It's finally happened, I've gone and created a podcast! I've always wanted a place where I can share an authentic and uncut version of myself, a place to talk openly and candidly about topics that interest me. We will be covering all things filmmaking and photography related, but I'll also be sharing my thoughts on pretty much everything else too! In this first episode, I wanted to give my advice for creators, with the current situation we're facing here in Australia and all over the world. We're stuck at home and a-lot of us don't know what to do with all this time that we have. So I wanted to share my experience and my advice when it comes to taking full advantage of this opportunity we've all been given. It's a horrible time, but finding a positive in any situation should always be the goal, and hopefully this is one of those positives. If you do enjoy this, please feel free to head over to my instagram https://www.instagram.com/tomnoske/ and YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/tomnoske And leave a review on whichever podcast platform you're listening to this on. Thanks for listening!
06 Apr 2020 | 002: Self conscious content creators & caring what people think of you | 00:50:56
This week I want to talk about the ever present issue many of us content creators struggle with, and an issue people in general struggle with! And that's feeling self conscious, and caring way too much about what people think of you and your content.
| |||
27 Apr 2020 | 005: Effort & Motivation | 01:00:36
This week I was asked via a Q&A on my instagram, "who was my favourite high school teacher? And why?" Which was a question that really resonated with me, because although throughout our years of education we may be taught by hundreds of different teachers, you'll find thats it's extremely rare for more than 2-3 of those individuals to have a considerable impact on your life. And I really believe that comes down to effort, and going above and beyond with every interaction you have. Your goal should always be to be apart of that 2-3 people for someone else! I hope you enjoy this weeks conversation.
15 Mar 2021 | Boredom, Creativity & Clear Headedness - Reel Life #044 | 00:51:30

25 Jan 2021 | Discipline, will power & habit building - Reel Life #041 | 00:42:36

19 Oct 2020 | Be a Professional - Reel Life #030 | 00:54:53
This week I spoke on being a professional, and giving yourself enough opportunities to put in the time. A lot of creatives complain of burnout, and a lack of inspiration whilst simultaneously leaving their creative work to chance, only sitting down to make something when the stars align and the time presents itself. Even something as small as an hour a day of complete creative freedom, can make a world of difference 📚
28 Sep 2020 | 027: Focus on Your Strengths | 01:13:25
This week I spoke on the topic of working to your strengths, and identifying which mediums, platforms or formats lend themselves best to your personality! Each of us only have a finite amount of willpower to spend forcing ourselves to be consistent, so the name of the game should be figuring out what style, what medium, or what platform best matches your talents, and working backwards from there Hope you enjoy this weeks episode.
14 Sep 2020 | 025: Finding Your Creative Voice | 01:19:22
This week I wanted to talk about social media, and how I believe it plays a role in you finding your true voice as a creator. I don't think there has ever been a time in history where supporting yourself financially as a creative entrepreneur has been so accessible, but with that comes a world & platforms that demands a tremendously high output from you as a creator, and that, I believe, isn't conducive to creating your best work and finding your true creative voice. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode.
07 Feb 2021 | Creating long lasting habits - Reel Life #043 | 00:35:21
This week I talk about a strategy I use to create behaviour change in my own life. It's an idea that spawned out of my swimming days when I was younger. Back then, I would only count every 4th lap or every 100m as a lap, and by doing so, turn a 160 lap 4km session into a 40 lap session. Now yes, this doesn't change the actual output required for the session, but it does make it far more manageable. Which allowed me to show up confident and ready, rather than anxious and overwhelmed, which lead to more sessions, and less self doubt. Nowadays I use this same strategy in my business, creative and personal life, by creating small "sprints" for myself, tricking my brain into believing that a new behaviour is only a temporary change, just long enough for that behaviour to become a habit. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode 🎙

04 Jan 2021 | How to actually have a better 2021 - Reel Life #038 | 00:46:16

10 Aug 2020 | Perspective Is Everything | 01:00:32
This week, I'm gonna be honest with you, I spoke about a whole bunch of different things. But generally, I think I can umbrella the entire conversation around the topic of perspective, and how you can use perspective to shape the way you see the world. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode!
12 Apr 2021 | Making right choice, every time - Reel Life #045 | 00:35:10
This week I spoke all about the comparison trap, and how people are often paralysed by the decision, rather than taking action and adjusting accordingly. Life ebbs and flows, and no decision you make right now is going to be more important than the experience you can gain by simply taking action. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode 🎙
29 Jun 2020 | 014: Get Comfortable with being Uncomfortable | 00:49:32
One of the things I continue to recognise over and over again throughout my life, is the relationship between uncomfortable situations, and positive growth. I don't think you can have one without the other. Yet so many of us lean towards situations that make us feel comfortable and away from those that make us uncomfortable! Learning to not only tolerate uncomfortable situations, but actually welcome and enjoy those situations has been the single biggest source of growth in my own life. And I do this by using one simple line, whenever I encounter a situation that makes me uncomfortable, a conversation with a client, an awkward social or networking situation, confrontations with friends or family, or just a difficult workout. I repeat to myself the line "get comfortable with this discomfort." So that the next time I encounter a situation that makes me uncomfortable, it's familiar to me, rather than something that frightens me. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode.
01 Jun 2020 | 010: Iron man training is making me a better creator! | 00:50:18
This week I wanted to talk all about my goal that I've been slowly chipping away at for the last 6-12 months, and that is, to complete my first Ironman Triathlon! It has been an incredibly eye opening experience both in terms of understanding what I'm truly capable of physically and mentally, but also the link between that physical extreme, and my creativity and business. The link I've discovered has been incredible and I would encourage any creator to set themselves a physical goal that scares the hell out of them, because the lessons you'll learn mentally through that will carry you far further creatively than you ever thought possible! I hope you enjoy this weeks episode!
18 May 2020 | 008: Switching careers & considering sobriety | 00:52:24
This week I wanted to talk all about my experience going from a career Personal Training to Filmmaking and everything in between! If you've been enjoying this podcast, I would really appreciate it if you could give us a follow of your listening platform of choice, and leave a five star review on iTunes. Thanks for listening!
25 May 2020 | 009: Creative Burnout | 00:59:59
This week I wanted to talk on the topic of creative burnout, my experiences with it, and some of the things I've learnt and techniques I use to work with and around creative burnout. Because something I've learnt more and more as I get further and further into this creative journey, is that creative burnout and periods of feeling a lack of creative motivation is par to the course of being a creator, it's something that comes with being a creative person, and something you need to learn to live with, not avoid! I hope you enjoy this weeks episode!
20 Jul 2020 | 017: What do you do when you don't feel like doing it? | 00:52:54
This is far from always being sunshine and rainbows, there are day's each and every one of us experience, where we get up and just don't feel like doing it? What are you supposed to do on those days? It's a subject not many people on social media ever talk about, because from the outside looking in, it would seem that no one ever experiences that feeling... Well, news flash, they do. Everyone does. I really did not feel like recording this podcast today, but I sat down and got it done anyway, and I want to talk about that process with you all. Thankyou for listening!
18 Jan 2021 | Developing your own creative style & being original - Reel Life #040 | 00:45:43
This week I spoke about the idea of being original, and whether or not it's actually possible. Throughout my own career, I've used the process of reverse engineering other peoples work as a form of education, and I think that by allowing yourself to take inspiration from others, you'll garner the knowledge and tools necessary in order to create your own style. So rather than seeking out originality, you should instead look to combine the work of your idols into a new piece of creativity, which to onlookers, will appear to be an original. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode 🎙
13 Jul 2020 | 016: You're only ever six months away | 00:47:33
You're only ever six months away! If for you, it’s a business goal, you’re only six months away from a completely different career If it’s fitness goals, you’re only six months away from a completely different body Whatever it is, I always like to go in with the mindset of - I’m only six months away. Now sure, that’s certainly not always the case, often it can take much longer than six months but that’s not the point. The point is; how bad would you feel if another six months were to pass you by, and you still haven’t started pursuing that goal? Thinking back to how different your life would be if you had’ve just started?! Can you really afford to waste another six months? The answer is no! So start now!
14 Dec 2020 | Let's talk about New Years Resolutions - Reel Life #037 | 00:50:56
This week i discussed New Years Resolutions! I hope you enjoy this weeks episode 🎙
15 Jun 2020 | 012: The Power of being Authentic | 00:54:43
This week I wanted to talk on the topic of authenticity, and the importance on focusing on yourself, on the things you're interested in and the things you enjoy above all else! Being blindly selfless is about as useless as being blindly selfish! It takes a combination of both to succeed, as they say, you need to be selfish first, to be selfless later. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode.
31 Aug 2020 | Silencing your Inner Critic | 00:52:09
On this weeks episode, I talk all about my experience with imposter syndrome and self doubt. It's a topic I'm sure all artist's can relate to, living in a constant limbo between creative fulfilment, and feelings of self doubt, sometimes separated by little more than a few hours! Hopefully this episode will give you a glimpse into how I cope with my feelings of self doubt through a strategy I like to label as "rather than silencing them, give your inner critic a voice" & personify this character within your own mind. Because by doing so, I find that I can become familiar with these "characters" and begin to recognise their roles and reasons as to why they may surface from time to time. Because there is a reason, there is always a reason. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode!
31 Jan 2025 | how I made $1M in 2024 without a single sales call | 00:10:38
In 2024 I made over $1,000,000 without doing a single sales call, and zero time spent selling in the DMs. In this episode I explain the alternate route to growing a business that thrives without the need to be actively involved in the sales process. 05 Oct 2020 | Making Money With Social Media - Reel Life #028 | 01:13:06
This week we're talking all about making money online, and my experience with growing an online audience, and some of the expectations that come along with that sort of experience! When your "success," and I use that word success, very hesitantly, because followers certainly don't equal success. When that number is so outward facing and obvious, you can often end up with the people around you, who don't have any experience in this industry, developing an expectation that you must be making $X of you should be selling Y. When often times, the reality is usually very different. There is no shame in having, 20k, 50k or 100k followers plus, and having a part time job. Don't let the expectations of those around you with zero experience influence your business behaviours. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode!
08 Nov 2020 | Start before you're ready - Reel Life #033 | 00:55:47
Episode 33 is live 🎙 This week I discussed the importance of being willing to start before you're ready. So many people build up this big frightening version of what it means to start a podcast, youtube channel, business, or any other creative venture, and that version they end up creating in their own minds ends up stopping them from doing something that is actually fairly straight forward. Preparedness is useless, because you can never be truly prepare yourself for the challenges you'll face once you actually start. So stop preparing for it and start before you're ready! I hope you enjoy this weeks episode 🎙
12 Oct 2020 | Building Personal Credibility - Reel Life #029 | 01:11:03
Episode 29 is live 🎙 This week was a little bit of a mixed bag of ideas, I jumped between a whole range of topics, so it was fun to just speak my mind and see where the hour took me. So I hope you enjoy this weeks episode.
07 Dec 2020 | Do the s*** that scares the f*** out of you - Reel Life #036 | 00:43:45
This week I discussed the never ending cycle of experience in regards to my business. Going from doing something that scares me, to realising it wasn't all that intimidating after all, to taking advantage of all the new doors that have opened up because I took that risk and repeating! I hope you enjoy this weeks episode 📚🎙
20 Apr 2020 | 004: focusing on happiness | 00:53:41
On this weeks episode, I discuss my recent decision to go full time on YouTube, which although, is only really a job title shift, has made a massive difference to my mindset towards being a fulltime content creator! I also discuss the importance of happiness, and the benefits I've found in my own life, from spending some genuine alone time! I really enjoyed recording this weeks episode so I hope you enjoy it too.
16 Nov 2020 | When is the time to quit & try something new? - Reel Life #034 | 00:46:32
Episode 34 is live 🎙 Are you perfecting a solution that you have on hand? Or are you finding new solutions? This week I dove into this idea, and talked through some of the recent examples of this in my own life. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode 🎙
06 Jul 2020 | 015: Focusing on happiness with @meshna | 01:12:07
This week I sat down and had a conversation with Kyle Meshna, a Photographer & Filmmaker from the Bay Area! Kyle is an incredible talent & just an all round good dude. We touched on a wide range of topics so I hope you enjoy this weeks episode of Reel Life
17 Aug 2020 | Persistence & Consistency | 00:56:34
Persistence and consistency are by far the biggest indicators of success, especially as a creative! And I think the best way to do that is to build your foundation around something that you love. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode.
04 May 2020 | 006: Goals & Moving fast on ideas | 01:03:17
This week I spoke all about a recent revelation I experienced in my own life that I thought would be fantastic for some people to hear. I've always been a little dismissive of goal setting, I always viewed it as a little pointless, as I believed that manifestation without action is dilution. So I simply opted for the work hard option and never had any real tangible goals surrounding my work! However recently I've realised, thanks to the reading I have been doing that, "you only see, what you aim at." And that without direction your brain is simply bound to repeat actions it has already recognised as 'safe.' And this realisation really sparked something for me. Without setting goals, your efforts are disorganised and directionless, but with a goal in mind, suddenly your brain begins to recognise opportunities that may get you closer and closer to that goal, opportunities it would not have recognised without that goal in mind. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode
21 Sep 2020 | 026: Overcoming my Insecurities | 01:09:52
This week I wanted to discuss insecurities, a very personal topic in my own life. I was an extraordinarily self conscious young man for much of my adolescent years, I really cared what other people thought of me, which lead to some insecurities that took a long time for me to overcome and move past once I became an adult. So today I want to discuss some of those insecurities and the things that I did and continue to do to move past each of those challenges. I am now a very comfortable, happy & confident bloke, but that wasn't always the case, so I wanted to speak on that today. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode! Episode on self doubt - https://spoti.fi/3kAbNTr
23 Nov 2020 | Imposter syndrome & flow - Reel Life #035 | 00:42:45
This week I spoke all about my recent feelings of imposter syndrome surrounding the launch of my first online course! I hope you enjoy this weeks episode 🎙
07 Sep 2020 | 024: Overthinking & Creative Resistance | 01:13:55
Been stuck in a bit of an overthinking rut lately, particularly with my YouTube channel. But the interesting thing I've noticed, is that all the feelings of self doubt and critique I feel for my YouTube videos, are the exact same feelings I get before I sit down to record a podcast, the difference? I have developed an ability to completely ignore those voices when it comes to my podcast, yet can't seem to shake them for my YouTube... Why is that? Why is it that in one part of my life I have something under control, and in another that same thing is completely destroying my potential to make the changes I know I need to make in my life? Today I spoke all about this topic, and how I believe Steven Pressfield's Idea of "Resistance" and "Turning Pro" are the answer to my problem. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode!
11 Jan 2021 | Mastery vs Success - Reel Life #039 | 00:48:57
Episode 39 of the Reel Life Podcast 🎙 This week Tom speaks on mastery vs success, and the importance of having goals dedicated to achieving each. With mastery, you will achieve some form of success. But success does not necessarily result in mastery.
08 Jun 2020 | 011: Fear & Starting a podcast | 00:49:02
Recently, a friend of mine, who is a professional boxer, talked with me about the overwhelming desire he has in the lead up to his fights to "find a way to get our of fighting." Even though he loves it, even though he has 10 years of experience, and it's more comfortable than most in situations like that, he told me about some of the thoughts that run through his mind in the lead up to a fight! And it made me realize, that, although you may love doing something, although you may know that doing that thing will help you, your brain will always think up scenarios and explanations as to why you "don't need to do that." It's too cold, you're not good enough, it'll hurt, you don't have the equipment, all of these excuses are just ways your mind is trying to keep you away from the thing that is uncomfortable. When in reality, you should chase the things that make you uncomfortable, because it's in being uncomfortable, that you'll experience the most growth! I hope you enjoy this weeks episode
27 Jul 2020 | Having goals vs Having systems - Reel Life #018 | 00:46:57
The best artists, are those amongst us that create like artist's but work like accountants. It's only by having systems set in place that put you in the best possible position to be creative, more often, and more consistently over time, that you will then find the success you're looking for with your creative business.
Too many of us are running purely on the inspiration of distant goals, and rarely doing the work requires, myself included.
Everyone who's ever been successful had goals, but so did everyone who failed! Setup your life in a way that consistently puts you in the best possibly position to work to your strengths, and be creative.
| |||
03 Aug 2020 | Staying positive through negative situations | 00:45:11
This week I discussed the benefits of being proactive vs reactive in situations that leave you feeling out of control. As of the day of releasing this podcast, here in Melbourne we have been put into stage 4 lockdowns, which means we essentially aren't allowed out of our houses at all. It's a situation that hasn't left me feeling particularly positive and so I wanted to jump on the podcast and discuss some of the things I do to overcome that anxiety and regain some of that control in my life. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode.
25 Oct 2020 | You're Going To Fail & That's a Good Thing - Reel Life #031 | 00:43:49
EPISODE 31 🎙 In this weeks episode I spoke on failure, and the power and confidence you can develop if you really lean into and embrace failure as a necessary part of developing as a creative, business owner or whatever else you pursue. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode 🎙
22 Jun 2020 | 013: Learning to Work Smarter not Harder | 00:47:37
For alot of my teenage years and into my early 20s, my only real indicator of success that I looked for, was “have I worked hard today?” Which was great... For a little while. It gave me a great foundation of discipline, and a good work ethic, but taught me very little about what it means to be genuinely productive. What it means to be open to opportunities or pivot when things don’t go as planned. Which has lead me down the road to burnout more times than I’m proud to admit. And I don’t think my story with this is unqiue, I think most of us are taught growing up that your work ethic is the one true indicator of success, and the thing you should be basing everything else off of. I think they just missed the part where they’re supposed to tell you what it is exactly you should actuallty be working “hard” on. Greg Mckeown Describes this problem that alot of us face as “Making a milliometer of progress, in a million different directions.” Rather than making substantial progress on that which is important to us. Your goal, as a creative, or whichever job or industry you find yourself in, is to focus as much of your time as you possibly can on the aspects of your career where you can provide the most value. To focus on doing the things you’re great at, better! Rather than doing alot of things in an okay manner. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode

31 Aug 2020 | 023: Ignorant Ambition | 00:53:56
A common thread I tend to hear when talking to my creative friends, is a sense of ignorance they have when explaining their goals or desires. It's almost as if they disregard the real implications of their ambition and ignore all the risks and hurdles they may experience. However It's not the sort of ignorance that leads to problems, It's actually the exact opposite.
I think there is two very clear types of people, those that see the path in front of them, and those that see the mountain peak on the horizon.
Both have the exact same goals, the same desire, and even the same plan to get to that destination. But the one who sees the peak, has a sort of ignorance that allows them to look past the work in front of them and focus purely on the step they need to take right now, in order to summit the mountain.
I think that's a quality you have to have in order to tackle any serious task, you have to have a child like ignorance about you, the same way a five year old might exclaim that he wants to be an astronaut one day. That child has absolutely no idea what lies in front of him, the tens of thousands of hours of work, the risk, the luck. But none of those things impact his desire, and his belief in himself, and so, taking that first step, no matter how small and insignificant that first step may be in the grand scheme of the entire journey. Taking it becomes alot easier when your only focus is the end result.
I hope you enjoy this weeks episode
