This episode is a heartfelt exploration into the often-dismissed symptoms of hypothyroidism and the struggle to be heard and adequately treated in the medical community.

In this episode, you'll uncover:

- The power of patient advocacy and the necessity of finding practitioners willing to listen and collaborate on treatment plans that include T3 when necessary.

- The critical role of functional practitioners in guiding patients through the complexities of thyroid health, navigating the medical system, and advocating for optimal care.

Question in today's episode:

  2. Should doctors test your adrenal/cortisol? I've never had this done but wonder if I should.
  3. How, if at all, does pregnancy and childbearing differ when you don’t have a thyroid? Just hoping to have a better understanding of what to expect when the time comes.
  4. Are there any differences between treatments in USA vs. other countries?
  5. What is this talk about the hormone T2 ? Supposedly it can help with weight loss and have no negative affect on T4 or T3.

20 Sep 2022How to Find the Best Doctor to Work With00:37:23

In this episode I discuss what it looks like to find the right doctor. We live at a time where you have more resources available to you to get yourself well and to understand your body better but you must first understand that you are fully responsible for your health.

Not only do your get to choose what your care looks like but you get to set the tone for what shared decision making looks like with your practitioner.

I share my personal story of firing my own doctor when I was 20 years old and share what I’ve told my clients through the years, questions to ask, and how to prepare yourself.

I know sometimes it can seem so discouraging to feel like you can’t find the right team but you can and I hope this helps encourage you in that process!

26 Sep 2022The Gallbladder, Thyroid Hormone, and Sex Hormone Connection00:43:18

There’s a major connection between the gallbladder and our hormones, and the fact that they’re so easily removed without properly understanding the underlying cause is problematic. We’re really missing a window to get down to some serious issues if we treated gallbladder issues as the tip of the iceberg.

In this episode I discuss the connection between the two, where to start if you want to dig deeper, what to do if you don’t have a gallbladder, and what to do if you do have a gallbladder.

Special Q&A epsiode for those healing after thyroidectomy! These questions were submitted by members of the Healing After Thyroidectomy facebook group.

Here are the questions I answer in this podcast:

  1. What’s the path to treatment when thyroid regrows after total Thyroidectomy?
  2. I’d love to hear your thoughts of TSH after a Thyroidectomy. Is it still important? Does it still have to be in range if you’re on a form of T3? And the timing of blood work with respect to medication ingestion that affects TSH.
  3. Would love to know the correlation between total Thyroidectomy and women’s sex hormones?
  4. Thyroidectomy and menopause. Now what? Gained weight and can’t get it off.
  5.  I want to know my optimal levels after Thyroidectomy and best way to reach them. I am on Armour and my T3 and Reverse T3 are high.
  6.  I would like to hear about things we might be missing to help lower antibodies and clear brain fog. No matter what I do, brain fog wont go away.

12 Dec 2024Stop Normalizing the Abnormal: What Every Woman Needs to Know About Their Periods and Menopause (Community Session Recording)00:41:14

In this episode, I share what a portion of the teaching session of my Thyroid Inner Circle looks likes. We dive deep into the often-overlooked connection between sex hormones, thyroid health, and adrenal function and break down how understanding and optimizing your sex hormones can be the key to reclaiming your health, whether you're a menstruating woman or navigating menopause. If you've ever been told that painful periods, fertility struggles, or challenging menopausal symptoms are "just part of being a woman," this episode is for you.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Why sex hormones matter more than you've been told: sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and DHEA) are not just for fertility.
  • The medical system’s normalization of dysfunction: how common symptoms like heavy periods, cramps, anxiety, and fertility issues are being dismissed as "normal and create a horrible transition into menopause.
  • Understanding the complete menstrual cycle: going through all the phases and why tracking your cycle is one of the most powerful tools for understanding your health.
  • Connection Between Thyroid, Adrenal, and Sex Hormones
  • Perimenopause and menopause: why menopause symptoms are not inevitable.
  • Practical Insights & Next Steps
  • Hormone Testing Tips
