14 Mar 2018 | PCP015: Tanya Alexander - Escape from Fear | 00:26:40
In this week’s episode you will hear a recording of a 1-1 coaching session I did with one of my clients Tanya Alexander. Tanya is a professional photographer, Therapist and life coach and she is doing a programme of mine called ‘Escape Velocity – The Transition Blueprint’ and during that programme people get 1-1 coaching in a group context. When Tanya came on the call for her coaching session she wanted to get coaching around a number of fears – agoraphobia, claustrophobia, fear of flying and generalised anxiety, and so the reason I thought that would be such a great topic for this podcast is because the solution with those is the same as it is for ALL our fears, worries and anxieties. 19 Mar 2019 | #019 - Clarity Case Study: The Principles of Clarity at Work in the NHS | 00:37:10
A simple solution to stress, pressure and burnout in the NHS. this episode is one we’ve been trying to organise for a while, because it’s with Louise O’Dalaigh, a woman who’s been working to introduce the principles behind clarity into he National Health Service (NHS). Louise went into the NHS because she’s passionate about helping people and caring for others. She started out as a nurse, and rose through the ranks to become a senior manager leading services. That looked like a last resort to her, so she started exploring the principles behind clarity. During the first workshop she attended, she had an insight into where her experience was coming from, and who she really is. Within weeks, she was off medication, and living with a knowledge of her innate resilience and wellbeing that is with her to this day. Once she saw the power of this understanding for herself, it was a no-brainer to see how it could benefit her colleagues. And you may be able to relate to this. Have you had a realisation into some aspect of these principles, then wondered “Why doesn’t everyone know this?” or “How can I get this out there?” Of course, knowing these principles can make a huge difference is one thing, but it’s quite another thing to answer the question, “How do you share this understanding with the people in your workplace? How do you share it with your colleagues? With your friends? With your loved ones?” Louise is a mum to four children, so you can imagine how important this last one is to her. In this episode, you’re going to hear how Louise is answering that question, and is now sharing this understanding with senior health professionals from all around the world. You may also get your own insights and realisations about how to ‘get these principles out there’, and share them with the people who matter to you.

06 Sep 2019 | #025 - DEMO - Dissolving impostor syndrome | 00:12:27
This episode is a brief coaching demo. In fact it got turned around in under 7 minutes. Basically, a few weeks ago I did a coaching demo with one of my clients, Mary, around what she described as ‘impostor syndrome’. She told me that whenever she started to make progress, she’d get to a certain point, then fall back. She wanted to be able to ‘put herself out there’… She wanted to be able to charge fees that would be rewarding… She wanted to be excited about what she was doing, and feel unstoppable… But she felt like an impostor, and it kept stopping her. We did the coaching demo, and in less than 7 minutes, it had shifted for her. How? She had an insight - a realisation - and everything started to change. By the way, Mary is one of the students on my 12-week, 90-day coaching immersion which is starting this month, and it’s all about having a breakthrough this year. And this is the very LAST time I’m ever running my 12-week programme. So the question I’ve been asking people is this: What's the number 1 breakthrough you could have by the end of this year that you believe would have the biggest positive impact in your life / work / practice (whatever aspect of your world makes sense to you to focus on)? Maybe it's a goal you want to achieve, or a change you want to make. Perhaps it's a problem you want to solve, or something you want to start doing (or even stop doing)... So examples of tangible breakthroughs might include doing a principles-based presentation / enrolling a client on a ‘high-value package’ / creating your career transition plan / handing in your notice / running your first intensive / starting a new job / getting clients for your coaching or consulting practice / running principles workshops / moving from employment to doing your own thing, but could also include breakthroughs in health / relationships / wellbeing etc) So you might like to ponder on that question for yourself: What's the number 1 breakthrough you could have by the end of this year that you believe would have the biggest positive impact in your life / work / practice? So because this is the last time I’m running it, we’re doing something a little different: We’re running our 3 most popular courses in their original 12-week format for one last time… … three programme tracks … one group of like-minded people … and a whole set of massive transformational breakthroughs by the end of the year Now the 3 programme tracks are the thriving coaches blueprint, the career transition blueprint, and clarity for personal transformation. I’ve recorded a short, 3-minute video explaining how it’s going to work and what to do if you think it might be a good fit for you. You can watch that video at www.ClarityAcademy.co/immersion I’d love to help you answer the ‘number 1 breakthrough’ for yourself, and see you make it into a reality.
14 Feb 2019 | #016 - KEYNOTE: Clarity, Resilience and Doing What You Love | 01:03:43
A keynote I did at the Popup Business School in Westminster. In November of 2018, I was invited to speak to 100 students at the PopUp Business School in Westminster, London. The founders of Popup created it as a response to traditional startup advice, because they felt that stuff was completely inaccessible to some of the people they wanted to inspire... - Unemployed people Basically, people who were traditionally excluded from the kind of support that helps when you're starting up. Not only that, but they’re people who often don’t get to experience the kind of work I do. They run their programmes in partnership with Housing Associations and Local Authorities, to help their constituents get a handle on their financial situations by creating their own income streams. Popup help people start their own business, fast! I was talking with one of the founders, Simon Paine, (Simon was personally impacted after reading my books and listening to this podcast, and we’ve ended up becoming friends), so we were having lunch and I asked him this question: "What's the number one thing that stops people taking action and creating the business they want to?" He thought about it, then he said "It's the psychological stuff"; confidence, motivation, resilience. - Believing they were broken - that past experiences had damaged them - Thinking that they couldn't change - that their lives couldn't transform - Feeling like they lacked the qualities they would need to deal with the ups and downs of doing their own thing When he asked if I could do a talk to help his students with that stuff, I instantly said "YES". You see, my team and I believe the most valuable thing a person can discover is how their mind works and who they really are. We want to share this far and wide and reach people in every walk of life. We want to inspire and educate a generation about what they've got going for them, so this means reaching the kinds of people who would rarely get the chance to hear about this sort of thing, in fact one of the audiences we want to be reaching is the very people that popup business school are working with. As you can imagine, I was really excited to see how the simple message of the principles behind clarity landed with the Popup audience. It was a big experiment for me AND for Popup. So in this recording, you’re going to hear what happened when I shared this understanding with a group of people who were hearing about it for the first time. Enjoy!
31 Jul 2019 | #022 - Interview: Better relationships from the inside-out | 00:46:21
in this episode of the get clarity podcast, you’re going to hear a conversation I had on the subject of relationships with two of my dear friends and colleagues, Jan and Chip Chipman. I recorded this interview with Jan and Chip at the same time as we were recording material for ClarityPro. Claritypro is our low-cost membership programme for people who want to share the principles like a pro with anybody, on any topic and in any situation. In ClarityPro, we cover a different topic every month, ranging from stress and anxiety to confidence & self-belief, and we give the members all the resources THEY need to share the principles effectively with the people they want to reach. Well, June’s topic was relationships, and we were lucky enough to have Jan and Chip record an audience engagement lesson for our members on working with clients around the whole area relationships. And that brings us to this episode. What you’re about to hear is a conversation I had with Jan and Chip Chipman, all about relationships. my team and I believe the most valuable things a person can discover is how their mind works and who they really are. And Jan and Chip are two of the people who I’ve really learned a lot from, particularly in the domain of relationships. They’ve been learning and sharing the inside-out understanding for over 40 years, and they’ve got a wealth of experiences working with individuals, couples, prison inmates, large companies and all points in between. And if that ‘members only’ session is of interest to you, you can check out the membership programme at jamiesmart.com/claritypro/. ClarityPro is our answer to the question of how to enable a person like you who’s been touched by this understanding to share it impactfully with others, and it really is a brilliant resource for anyone looking to share this understanding right now with the people in their world. And when you join our community today, you’ll also get a free ticket to attend one of our ClarityLive 2-Day Events. So to find out more and join ClarityPro go to jamiesmart.com/claritypro
17 Jan 2022 | #100 - Getting Out of Your Own Way with Marie Arymar | 00:51:31
This episode is one lots of people will relate to because it’s called “Getting Out of Your Own Way, and really I’m delighted to share this episode with you because it’s a recording from the ClarityLive! event we held earlier this month. The theme for the event was “How to make 2022 your most beautiful year yet” and it was really lovely. We had people joining us from all around the world, and there was a great sense of community, with lots of profound realisations. And one of the things we did was I had ‘fireside chat’ conversations with Certified Clarity Coaches who’ve been having a big impact in the world, and I picked their brains about what it means to live a beautiful life, and how this understanding has helped them do exactly that. And my idea for this was that we would be talking shop; the kind of conversation that I have with my colleagues over a coffee, and that most people never get to hear. So in this podcast, you’re going to be hearing one of those, a conversation I had with bestselling author & coach, Marie Arymar. And Marie specialises in working with young people and parents.
Just before we get to that, I wanted to mention that the doors are now open for the final intake of our flagship Clarity Certification Training programme. I say ‘final’ because as you may have heard, I’ve decided to stop all business activities except for delivering programmes that I already have on the calendar for 2022. And I’m doing this so I have the time to write the second edition of my book CLARITY, and to create the space for what’s going to come next. You know, when I first came to the principles, it was relatively unknown, and very few people knew how to share this understanding with others. And it was clear to me that we needed a cadre of highly-skilled coaches, trainers and change-workers who could share this understanding and have a big impact with their clients.
Ten years on, and we’ve trained over 300 Clarity Coaches and I couldn’t be more delighted. We now have that cadre of highly-skilled people with a deep understanding in place. Now it’s time to get these principles out into the world in a bigger way, and I need the space to do that, so…
This is the last time I’m going to be delivering Clarity Certification Training. 26 of the 36 places are now taken, so there are 10 places left as I speak. And I’m really looking for leaders who want to take this understanding out into the world at a time when there’s never been a greater need for it. And for the first time ever, I’ve added a massive bonus package worth over £13,000, including the chance to sit in on a 3-day coaching intensive with a corporate client, later this year.
And we have an EarlyBird price so you can save up to £1,500 when you book your place by Monday, January 24th. Just go to www.JamieSmart.com/coach to learn more.
And Clarity Certification Training is the programme Marie did a couple of years ago when she was earlier in her journey. So now to the episode.
11 Nov 2022 | #107 - INTERVIEW - Ian Watson - Trusting in the invisible | 00:50:48
I’m Jamie Smart - welcome to the podcast. And in this session you’re going to hear a conversation I had recently with my dear friend and colleague, Ian Watson. Ian and I have been in each other’s lives for the past 20 years, and those years have included many twists and turns as we’ve encountered obstacles, followed our inner guidance and found our way forward (sometimes more easily than others). Some of the topics we explored included - Following your bliss - Trust in ‘the invisible’ - Being willing to take ‘the road less travelled’ - Doing what you love - And much more By the way, our next ClarityLive! event is next weekend (November 19-20) and the theme is in a similar domain: Purpose, Principles & Personal Expression: How to bring dream projects to life for yourself and others (even if you don’t know what they are yet). We’re being joined by guest speakers including my dear friend and colleague, Cathy Casey. Cathy pioneered taking the principles into the California prison system and is a master of stepping into the unknown and bringing unique expression to life. We’re also being joined by another dear friend, Carl Harvey, founder of the Abundance Book Club and The Big Life show (he was also MindValley's head copywriter for a couple of years - Carl's a powerhouse). It’s all going to be happening via live-stream, and you can find out more at www.JamieSmart.com/ClarityLive And you can find out more about Ian Watson and his work at www.TheInsightSpace.com

04 Jun 2020 | #038 - DEMO: Post-Lockdown: Getting unstuck & back in the game after a business collapse | 00:30:33
Welcome to the podcast. And in this episode you’re going to hear a coaching demo I did with a client who was completely stuck following a series of catastrophes. First, she was hit with the deaths of both her parents within the space of a couple of years. Then her husband became seriously ill. She told me that during this period, her work as a coach kept her going. But then, the UK coronavirus lockdown kicked in, and her business collapsed overnight. She said it was like a domino effect of ‘big things’ happening that’s left her feeling stuck and with no confidence. She said she felt like she had lead in her boots and was unable to move. When I asked her what she wanted to have happen as a result of our session, she said... “I want to become unstuck. I want to go back to being me.” Just before I introduce that session, I wanted to let you know that the 2021 Intake of our flagship programme, the Clarity Certification Training is now open for enrolment and you can save up to £3,000 when you register by Friday 26th June. A few things worth knowing… 1. Clarity Certification Training is our flagship seven month programme for anyone interested in bringing an understanding of the principles behind clarity into their life or work. 2. I’m going to be delivering all 7 modules on the Clarity Certification Training myself, so you’re going to be working closely with me. 3. We’re limiting the number of places on the programme to 36 people, and.... 4. You can save up to £3,000 when you book your place by Friday, 26th June, 2020. >>> You can find out more and book your place at www.JamieSmart.com/coach So now to the coaching demo. I did this session in front of an audience of clients on my 12-week Coaching Immersion programme. The client’s name is Cecilia, and as you’ll hear, I move between coaching Cecilia and speaking to the audience. The main coaching session is in the first 26 minutes of the podcast. Then in the last minute or two of the podcast, you’ll hear me circle back and check in with Cecilia - this was actually an hour later (I was coaching some other members of the group in the meantime). So here’s the coaching demo.
03 Sep 2020 | #048 - Goat rodeos, warlord entrepreneurs & the future of money with Vinay Gupta | 01:57:11
During a recent podcast episode, I mentioned that while climate change is one of the threats facing humanity, there are many others, including artificial intelligence, exponential technology, authoritarianism, pandemics, nuclear winter and many more. This week’s episode is another in this series of ‘public service announcement’ conversations, this time with one of my favourite twitter-follows, Vinay Gupta. Here’s the back story. Last year, I heard a podcast episode with a chap called Vinay Gupta and started following him on twitter (his handle is @leashless). He's proved to be one of my more fascinating follows, and has a unique perspective on a number of things (including the environment / climate change, the future of money, modern-day slavery, the rise of warlord entrepreneurs and more). Just to provide some bona fides, Vinay helped organise the launch of the crypto-currency Ethereum a few years back, is the designer of Dubai's national blockchain strategy and is the inventor of the hexayurts you may have used / seen if you've ever been to the Burning Man festival. Among other things, he's introduced me to the idea of 'goat rodeos' (an explanation of why certain national-level problems prove resistant to resolution, and what you can do about it). So I reached out to him and said this: "I find your perspective on the whole 'welcome to the world of the people who grow your coffee' overlap with racism / modern slavery / environment / meditation and fairness super-important. Would you be up for being interviewed on my podcast? (It’s called the Get Clarity Podcast). It only has a few thousand listeners but they’re mostly people who want to make a difference in the world." He said, "Yes", and what you’re about to hear is the conversation that followed. By the way, SCIM stands for Simple Critical Infrastructure Maps; an approach for planning for survival in the case of societal collapse Follow Vinay Gupta on twitter: @leashless
30 Apr 2024 | #114 - COACHING DEMO: Limiting Beliefs, Weight Loss & Vibrant Health | 00:31:50
Hi. I’m Jamie Smart. Welcome to the podcast. This episode is a coaching demo I did with Clarity Coach Jan Harte around weight loss and limiting beliefs. The demo itself took place during my Clarity Advanced Coach & Facilitator Programme, and only lasted 20 minutes, but it’s followed by a 4-minute follow-up I did with Jan a year later (just a few weeks ago). As you’ll hear, the impact of the coaching session was profoundly transformational. Just before we get to that, I wanted to mention that on Friday May 10th, I’m getting together with a group of coaches to look at the fundamentals of belief-change, so you can increase your impact-confidence, dissolve limiting beliefs & transform lives (including your own). Here’s what we’re going to be exploring together:
While this one-day workshop will be suitable for coaches and therapists of all skill and experience-levels, it’s going to be of particular interest to experienced coaches who are looking to take their impact to a new level. There will be several belief-change demonstrations, and everyone will have the opportunity to shift their own most pernicious beliefs. As I mentioned, it’s on Friday May 10th via Zoom, and there’s an earlybird price when you book your place by this Thursday May 2nd. Just go to www.JamieSmart.com/belief to learn more and register now. That’s www.JamieSmart.com/belief So now to the coaching demo and one-year followup..
06 Dec 2024 | #119 - Troubleshooting Enlightenment | 00:42:04
When the event hosts asked me to deliver the final keynote speech at this year’s Viva Event, I asked them what gift they’d love the participants to walk away from the conference with. Their answer inspired the title of my talk: Troubleshooting Enlightenment - How to Keep the Feeling Alive When You’re Back in the Real World. During the talk, I shared:
So I invite you to ask *yourself* this question if you've ever wondered where the feeling goes: Q: How do you keep ‘the beautiful feeling’ alive when you're back in the real world? This is exactly what today’s episode is all about, featuring the full recording of my keynote. When I listened to the recording myself, I picked up on the Viva vibe of fun and playfulness throughout the episode. As well as being really enjoyable (if I say so myself) I heard from multiple people that they came away from the session with a quiet mind and new, fresh insights on the principles and what they make possible. There's something else you'll find relevant if you're a coach or therapist: During the talk, I asked who had asked themselves these questions: Why doesn't everyone know this? That's the question I hear most often from people when they first catch a glimpse of the principles, followed by... How can I get this out there? It was almost everyone in the audience (around 200 people). So, during my talk, I shared some of the distinctions and 'mindsets' that can make you unusually good at having a transformational impact with this understanding and experiencing more of the feeling in your own life. Because as Sydney Banks said: “The more you help others, the more you help yourself. Believe me, that’s really true. The more you help others, the better the feeling you will get.” Delivering this speech made me realize how much more we can do to bring these insights into practical, transformative action for ourselves and the world. My team and I are already moving in this direction—more to come soon.
11 May 2020 | #036 - What are the 3 principles | 00:10:59
The 9 minute clip you’re about to listen to is an excerpt from an interview where I was asked the question, “What are the 3 principles.” As you’ll hear, my response started in somewhere that’s probably pretty familiar to most people and ended up somewhere much deeper.
05 May 2020 | #035 - KEYNOTE : The Search is Over (except when it isn’t) | 01:28:13
I’m Jamie Smart, and welcome to the podcast. We’re many weeks into lockdown as i record this, so I hope this finds you and yours safe and well. One of the things I’ve been doing is having a look at ways to introduce people to my work, and so I was looking through our most popular podcast episodes. I’ve got some great new episodes lined up for you, but this week I’m going to share one of our most popular episodes of all time. The recording you’re about to hear is a keynote speech I did at the opening of the first “Unlimited Conference” in Helsinki, Finland back in 2016. It starts with an introduction from the conference organiser, Niko Leppanen. I first met Niko at a workshop in Oslo, Norway, and he went on to train with me as a Clarity Coach, so we’ve been on this journey together for quite a while. Now, almost everyone who’s been touched by the 3 principles gets hit by the same three big questions, 1) Why doesn’t everyone know this? 2) What can I do to help get this ‘out there’? 3) Why does it sometimes seem difficult to share this understanding with other people? The Unlimited Conference was Niko’s inspired answer to the “How can I help get this out there?” question, so I felt very honoured to be one of the speakers. And the name of my keynote talk was, “The Search is Over (except when it isn’t)”. So here’s the episode...

04 Aug 2021 | #081 - The Art of Melting Objections and Concerns | 00:55:55
Welcome to the podcast; I’m Jamie Smart. And I’m wondering... how would you like to be able to melt your clients' objections and concerns away in a way that's ethical, respectful & relationship-enhancing? Whether it's "I can't afford it", "It's not the right time" or "I'll go away and think about it"... I know so many coaches whose hearts sink when they hear these words. But they have the opposite effect on me. When I hear a client's concerns, my ears prick up and I start getting excited. Why? Because I LOVE objections and concerns, and I recorded this episode in the thriving coaches community to show you exactly why. By the way, this episode is brought to you by the Thriving Coaches Blueprint programme, my 90-day coaching intensive to help you get clients, grow your coaching business and make the difference you’re here to make. Doors close this Friday, August 6th, and you can learn more and register now at JamieSmart.com/thriving So here’s the episode...

29 Oct 2020 | #060 - The Dubious Art of Predicting The Future | 00:21:31
The episode you’re about to hear is an excerpt from one of the private laser-coaching & Q&A sessions I do each month with my ClarityPro Members. Just to give you a bit of background, I’d been telling my clients about something my team and I do called ‘Project Gretsky’, inspired by a quote from the phenomenal hockey player, Wayne Gretsky who famously said, “Skate to where the puck is going, not where it’s been.” In Project Gretsky, my team and I look to the future, and make guesses about where the world’s heading, how we can best guide our clients and how we can inspire and educate a generation to experience lives of clarity, resilience and wellbeing. It’s how we ended up developing our state of the art live-streaming facility, as well as a number of other innovations we’ve got in the pipeline. So during last night’s Laser-coaching / Q&A session, one of our ClarityPro members (Andrea Bruno) asked a question that stopped me in my tracks. Andrea said he was thinking about Project Gretsky, and thought it would be very cool and useful to do something like that, but he said that in the past, whenever he tried to predict the future, he got frustrated because he wanted to be right about it. If things didn’t go his way he got increasingly worried, and in the end, he just stopped trying to make any predictions because it wasn’t worth the anxiety factor. But something in Project Gretsky spoke to him, and he wanted to get some clarity about that. So why did this stop me in my tracks? Because I’d never given much thought to how I relate to this whole domain of prediction and future trends. What you’re going to hear in this episode is this: first you’ll hear Andrea’s question, then you’ll get my counter-intuitive answer, then finally you’ll hear how it lands with Andrea. So here’s the episode:

20 Oct 2021 | #086 - Compelling Presence: The Thriving Coaches Scorecard Part 2 | 00:14:32
Welcome to the podcast. In this session, we’re doing a kind of warmup for the free live training I’m kicking off on Friday 29th October, called the Thriving Coaches Business Masterclass series. And this time, we’re doing something new: We’ve got a theme for the Masterclass series, “Decoding the Principles Behind Transformation”. In the course of helping you grow a thriving coaching business, I want to make the principles I’m so passionate about practical and highly relevant to you. Why? Because these principles are the most practical thing I know for helping you get clients and make a big difference in a way that fits with who you really are. So every day for 10 days I’m reading you a chapter from my book for coaches, therapists and consultants. It’s called The Thriving Coaches Scorecard, the 10 multipliers that are either growing or slowing your professional practice. The focus of the book, and the masterclass series is on getting clients, growing your business and having an impact in your clients’ lives, and we’re going to be covering the stuff that’s most crucial for coaches to learn (especially in these times of uncertainty and volatility) including…
And all the way through, I’m going to be decoding the principles behind transformation and making them practical. 31 Oct 2018 | #014 - The Fundamentals of Clarity Coaching | 00:17:07
In this episode, you’re going to hear the introduction to a session that I did at the Realising Potential conference. The introduction was to a set of coaching demonstrations that I did. The reason I’m sharing the introduction is because I got a lot of feedback from people saying how powerful it was because what you’ll hear me do is lay out my approach to coaching people from a principles-based understanding. What I also explain is why coaching from a principles understanding is so different to how I used to coach (when I was an NLP coach) and to how a lot of people approach coaching. So if you’re interested in moving to coaching from a principles understanding this might be particularly interesting to you. By the way later this year (or early next year) we’re going to be running The Thriving Coaches Blueprint program and a lot of people on that program have come to it from other modalities such as NLP, hypnosis, therapy etc. and they have found that the programme was a great way of starting that transition into working with people from a principles-based understanding. If you want more details about The Thriving Coaches Blueprint go to jamiesmart.com/thriving (we haven’t opened the doors yet but you can put your name down to so you will be alerted when we do).
24 Jun 2019 | #021 - DEMO: Parenting with the principles: How to help a suffering child | 00:12:50
This episode features a coaching demo I did with Clarity Coach Trevor Hartwick. And here’s one of the interesting things about it: We did the demo at the end of a virtual session where we only had 7 minutes left. What you’re going to hear is just how quickly it’s possible for someone to experience a profound shift when you’re working with an understanding of the principles behind clarity. Trevor and his wife are new parents, with a two-month old baby. Trevor’s loving being a father, but sometimes, when the baby won’t stop crying, he feels powerless. Trevor said it breaks his heart to see his child upset and not be able to make him happy. And of course, whether you’re a parent or not, you can probably relate to Trevor, because we’ve all had the experience of seeing someone we care about suffering, and feeling powerless to do anything about it. As you’ll hear, what Trevor realised is that one of the biggest gifts he can give his son can *only* be given in those moments where there’s nothing he can do to make him happy. At the end of the session, we take a pause, then you’ll hear me circle back to check in with Trevor. By the way, the Clarity Certification Training for coaches, practitioners and professionals is formally open for registration. We’ve had people from all walks of life go through the programme including computer programmers, doctors, call centre workers, lawyers, parents, PR specialists, therapists, office workers, entrepreneurs, surgeons, people who are already coaches, consultants, trainers and even a professional footballer. The programme starts in January 2020, and we’re only accepting 36 applicants this time, so if you want to find out how to become a Clarity Coach, and see what’s involved in bringing an understanding of these principles into every aspect of your life, go to https://www.jamiesmart.com/coach

22 Jul 2020 | #045 - Racism, Injustice and the 3 Principles - A Conversation with Davida Arnold | 00:50:18
Welcome to the podcast - I’m Jamie Smart. It’s now nearly two months since the tragic killing of George Floyd sparked a wave of protests that's echoing around the globe. And it got me wondering... "As a member of the principles community, what does it make sense for you to say or do in relation to this?" And as I wondered about this, I realised something... So I reached out to my good friend and colleague, Clarity Coach Davida Arnold. Davida is a coach and educator based in Columbus Ohio. She's a mother with young children, and she’s a black woman. As Davida and I talked, I realised it could be valuable for us to have a conversation to release more widely. Our discussion didn’t have an agenda per se - the purpose was to have a connected conversation to see what we could discover about 'the truth of the matter'.

13 Dec 2024 | #120 - COACHING DEMO: The Two Things You Have to Have Before a Client Will Enroll with You | 00:20:01
In today's episode, I’m sharing a simple but profound coaching demo from a recent workshop.
During this session, you’ll hear Morag, a coach, open up about a “marketing problem.”
She’d been struggling to connect with a key organization, feeling stuck on how to communicate the value of her work in a way that truly landed with them.
Together, we explored what I know to be the two essential things you have to have before a client will decide to enroll with you.
By the end of the session, Morag had a powerful realization - one that could shift your perspective on how to engage potential clients, too.
I won’t spoil the surprise here, but I’m confident you’ll find plenty of value in listening to the coaching session.
What I love about this demo is how relatable it is. Whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience, we’ve all faced moments where we’ve felt stuck or unsure of how to approach or connect with the people we’d love to work with. --- 🚀 Ready to Boost Your Coaching Impact? He sees his struggles as a gift these days - an opportunity to open up and understand more about what this life is and to share what he has learned to help others to live happier lives. And one of the interesting things about John is he’s spent a lot of time working with individuals with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and other chronic health syndromes and has been amazed at the progress that his clients have been able to achieve with a deeper understanding of how their minds really work. 23 Sep 2020 | #059 - Q&A: Visibility - How to make it easy for coaching clients to find you | 01:04:09
Welcome to the podcast. I’m Jamie Smart. And in this episode, you’re going to hear a Q&A session I did this week as part of my Thriving Coaches Business Masterclass series. And the reason I’ve decided to release this as a podcast episode is because the questions gave me an opportunity to really clarify what I see as some of the biggest ‘schoolboy errors’ coaches make, and the most important fundamentals coaches can benefit from when trying to grow a successful practice. Questions like:
The cool thing is this: each of these questions gave me an opportunity to point back to the fundamentals of growing a coaching practice, because once you understand the fundamentals, it all becomes a lot easier (and it's all about the fundamentals). By the way, this Q&A Session is part of my Thriving Coaches Business Masterclass series which is running from now through October 2nd. It’s totally free to join, and it’s all about how to get clients and grow a thriving, abundant coaching practice, so you can make your living doing what you love: making a difference to others. And here’s the thing: lockdown has meant that countless coaches and therapists have been forced to make the transition to working online, via tools like zoom and skype. At Clarity Academy, we’ve been delivering our coaching and training online for many years, so that’s one of the things we’re teaching you about during this free masterclass series. The next session is Thursday, September 24th at 6pm UK time, but we’re recording all the sessions, so you can watch everything for free by registering at https://www.jamiesmart.com/business-masterclass. In this episode of the show, I coach Russell Davis, a performance and mind coach. Russell works with his clients using a coaching package model, but he noticed that he wasn't always offering potential clients the size of package he really thought they needed. It turns out that the reason why was because of fear of rejection, judgment and criticism. 20 Jan 2022 | #101 - Burning It All Down with Charlie Madison | 00:47:00
I’m really happy to share this episode with you, with the unusual title of ‘Burning It All Down’, because it’s a recording from the ClarityLive! event we held earlier this month. So in this podcast, you’re going to be hearing one of those, a conversation I had with business owner & entrepreneur Charlie Madison.
Just before we get to that, I wanted to mention that the doors are now open for the final intake of our flagship Clarity Certification Training programme. I say ‘final’ because as you may have heard, I’ve decided to stop all business activities except for delivering programmes that I already have on the calendar. And I’m doing this so I have the time to write the second edition of my book CLARITY and to create the space for what’s going to come next.
We have that cadre of highly-skilled people with a deep understanding in place.
And Clarity Certification Training is the programme Charlie did a couple of years ago when he was earlier in his journey. So now to the episode.
10 Jul 2020 | #043 - Coaching Entrepreneurs and Parents with the Principles (Matt Fox) | 00:21:54
In this episode, I’m speaking with Matt Fox. Matt is a coach and creator of the "Heart of Dad" podcast aimed at entrepreneurs who are also fathers. He built and sold a successful eLearning business back in 2012, and retrained as a psychotherapist. Then, a couple of years ago, he was attending a coaching course and was introduced to the 3 Principles. This started a process of transformation that has led to him putting the principles 'front and centre' in his 1:1 Coaching work with clients. Just before we get to that, I wanted to let you know that we’ve opened the doors to our ClarityPro Community and we’re accepting new members until midnight pacific time this Monday, July 13th. You may have heard me say that my mission is to awaken people to the truth of the inside-out understanding, and help them to awaken others to this. 31 Jan 2018 | PCP 012: Liz Scott - Coaching Packages, Connection and the Present Moment | 00:19:42
In this session, you’ll hear me coaching Liz Scott. What starts out as a 'tactical' question about coaching packages (what's involved, how do they work etc) turned into a much deeper conversation about value, integrity and who you really are. Liz is a coach and trainer who works with a wide variety of individuals and organisations, ranging from police forces to education authorities. She collaborates with schools and works directly with children, teachers and head-teachers. And one of the interesting things about Liz is that she worked as a reporter and producer for the BBC for 12 years. And following this coaching session, Liz went on to train with me as a Clarity Coach. For full show notes, please visit http://www.jamiesmart.com/pcp/12

01 Mar 2019 | #017 - Subtractive psychology: Are formless principles too 'woo-woo' for a corporate lawyer | 01:00:53
Are formless principles too 'woo-woo' for a corporate lawyer? In this episode of the get clarity podcast, we’re going to be answering this question about subtractive psychology: are formless principles too 'woo-woo' for a corporate lawyer? Here’s the back story. You may recall that I conducted a 3-day Clarity 1:1 Coaching Intensive with a corporate lawyer named Andy, in front of a live audience of coaches, therapists and trainers. A year later, I did a live follow-up interview with Andy in front of an audience, to find out how the experience changed his world and give people the chance to ask us BOTH questions. There were some real surprises – for instance someone asked Andy whether he would have been prepared to pay full price for the intensive, knowing what he knows now (Andy paid £4,000 instead of the usual fee of £30,000, in return for letting an audience watch and listen as he went through the entire experience). As you can imagine, I was waiting with baited breath to hear his answer in front of an audience of over 100 people! I’ve decided to share the whole interview with you, because it’s so aligned with the purpose my team and I are working to. As you may know, we believe the most valuable things a person can discover are how their mind works, and who they really are. Well, this interview demonstrates why they're so valuable– the immeasurable, practical, real-world benefits of learning just these two things, specifically. And when I say learning, I mean realising them insightfully – not just as concepts, beliefs or ideas, but as bedrock facts that make a go-forward difference in your life. These two facts (how your mind works and who you really are) are what Andy realised insightfully during his intensive, and what you’re going to hear is the difference those two discoveries have made in his work, and in his life as a whole. In the interview he reports on the changes in: - His sense of trust in himself and his decision-making Here are some of the questions Andy gave answers to: - How did how you operate in the world before VS after the intensive? What changed for you? - How did things change around your career transition and your ability to take action and be productive? - Knowing what you know now, would you have been prepared to pay the full price (£30,000) for your intensive? - What was the biggest new belief that you gained about yourself in the intensive that you felt was most transformative? (Andy’s answer to this was particularly interesting, because of the ‘subtractive’ nature of this work) - How did you go about building your coaching practice alongside your corporate lawyer role? - What impact has the intensive have had on your relationships - for instance work colleagues, family etc? - What do you think the difference would have been if you'd had regular coaching in hourly sessions rather than an intensive? I was also asked some technical questions (E.g. do you ever do Intensives remotely? The answer is “yes”), as well as what I’d learned personally from the intensive, so it was great to share my insights from the session. If you'd like to contact Andy to find out more about his coaching services, you can reach him on andyjsmith101 at gmail dot com or at his "Business Success Made Simple" Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/130424981156517/

In this episode you’re going to be hearing something I’m very excited to share with you - here’s why. Last weekend, we had our ClarityLive event, and it was the best one yet. We had people joining us from all over the world, and there was an incredible sense of community, with lots of profound insights. Anyway, one of the things we did was I had ‘fireside chat’ conversations with four Clarity Coaches who have been having a big impact in their clients lives. And my idea for this was that we would be talking shop; the kind of conversation that I have with my colleagues over coffee, and that most people never get to hear. So in this podcast, you’re going to be hearing the first one of those, a conversation I had with coach and trainer, Chris Jackson. Just before we get to that, I wanted to mention that the doors are now open for the January 2022 intake of our flagship Clarity Certification Training programme. 28 Feb 2025 | #130 - Aligning your Ego with your True Self | 00:09:48
This week, I’d love to share a clip from a recent masterclass exploring how our everyday personality can align with who we truly are. Here’s what’s inside: - Why the spark of who you really are never disappears, no matter how disconnected you feel. - Seeing beyond old illusions of ugliness or brokenness within. - A simple shift that lines up your personality with peace and possibility. - An illuminating diagram (courtesy of my beloved Emma McDevitt) highlighting the relationship between the truth of our being, our unique qualities and our ego identity. If you’re listening to the audio version and want to see the diagram, you can watch the video here: https://youtu.be/4eJbNoZ2yB8 “You might call it source energy, or god, or divine intelligence… Bohm calls it the implicate order [...[ Your soul or spirit - however you wanna think about it - that’s a local instantiation in you of that universal divinity.” Tons of love, 🚀 Ready to Boost Your Coaching Impact? 31 Aug 2022 | #103 - Unpacking the Launch Process for Getting Coaching Clients & Filling Programmes | 00:10:01
Revealing how the magic trick is done TL;DR - I’m going to 'unpack' the launch process I've been using to fill coaching programmes for the past few years and show you how you can apply those principles to get 1:1 clients and grow your coaching business. Sound good? Read on… When I started my first coaching business, I didn’t know much about business. Marketing was a mystery and I hated selling. As part of the story of how that changed, I wanted to tell you why I haven’t been very active in this FB group this year. Partly it was because I’ve been working on the 10th-anniversary edition of my book CLARITY, but there was also something else going on… I realised at the end of last year that I was spending more time running my business (marketing, operations, filling programmes etc) than I was doing the stuff I really love, things like: - Exploring and sharing the principles behind clarity - Teaching: Working with groups and individuals - Following my curiosity, passion and fascination - Going for walks with my beloved Emma McDevitt - Hanging out with family, friends and other people I love - Reading books, studying whatever I’m fascinated by and making the space for insight - Basically, freedom! This was a problem for two reasons: 1) The whole reason I started my business was to have the freedom to do what I love! 2) I always want to practice what I preach, and I was running the risk of being a bad example to the coaches in this group See, I’m assuming that the whole reason you got into coaching, therapy or group work is because you’re passionate about it, right? The only reason I even have a business is so I’ve got the time, money and ‘container’ to do the stuff I’m passionate about. I want my work to be a joy, and if it isn’t, then I’m not doing it right. Basically (dodgy metaphor alert!) if you’re putting the business cart before the passion horse, you’ve fallen into a trap. It’s a trap I’ve fallen into on a number of occasions, and when I saw it was happening last year, I called time on it. I decided to find out what happens when I introduce a zero-tolerance policy for stress, pressure and urgency in my business. I announced I wasn’t going to be running our Clarity Certification Training (CCT) in 2023. This meant I didn’t have to spend any time in 2022 doing anything to fill that or any other programme. Instead, I delivered the 2022 CCT programme (I love teaching), delivered my Advanced programme (I really love teaching cool advanced stuff) and continued delivering my monthly Laser-Coaching sessions in ClarityPro (I love coaching in a group context). I appeared on various podcasts and interview series (I love being interviewed) and created the space for insight. As you may already know, my ‘mission’ is to awaken people and support them in awakening others. That’s one of the reasons I love working with coaches, therapists and trainers. By waking coaches up to who they are and what they’ve got going for them, I can share the principles behind clarity with many more people than I could personally. Like I said earlier, when I first started my coaching business, marketing was a mystery and I hated selling. So I learned about marketing. In 2015, I did the pilot of something that would become my Thriving Coaches Blueprint programme. We had a great group of people, but something strange happened… People came up to me during the programme and said, “I love the way you teach; you’re nothing like your marketing!” Getting this genuine compliment was bittersweet. Every time I heard it, I felt bad about my marketing; I wanted it to be a true reflection of the work I’m passionate about! So I knew I had to change my game. Over the years, I experimented with various ways of filling the programme. By 2020, I had it boiled down to a launch structure that allowed me to do lots of teaching (which I love) as part of the launch process. But the launch process itself had tons of moving parts, and lots of bits that needed to be done ‘right’. While it was lots of fun, it didn’t have as much of the feeling of peace and well-being that I love in my teaching. I wanted something more simple, enjoyable and easeful. Anyway, back to the present day. Over the past weekend, I had an insight and realised what I was inspired to do. Over the next 30 days, I’m going to do a simpler, easier, more enjoyable launch process while I 'unpack' the essential elements of how to fill coaching programmes and get 1:1 clients and grow your coaching business. I’m literally going to be explaining what I’m doing *while* I’m doing it. At the end of the month, I’m going to kick off the only Thriving Coaches Blueprint programme we’re going to be running this year, and the last one I’m ever going to run in the 12-week form we’ve taken over 500 coaches, therapists and trainers through over the past 8 years. And here’s the thing: While I’m going to be ‘unpacking’ launches and showing you how it all applies to growing your coaching business, I don’t know how many people are going to sign up for the Thriving Coaches Blueprint I’m starting at the end of the month. But whether it’s 8 people or 48 people, my commitment is to enjoy the journey every step of the way between now and then and beyond. I want the whole thing to be a joy for me AND for you. And so I was reflecting on what’s going on for me when I’m being most myself and having the biggest impact with people because that’s what I want to bring to the fore. Here’s my ambition: I want you to experience me as being practical without being prescriptive, spiritual without being woo-woo, impactful without being earnest, and sharing a really good feeling in the process. And if I want you to experience that, I need to go there first myself. I’m going to be doing my best to embody and model for you the qualities that are at the heart of growing a successful coaching business. These include: - Building relationships by giving people an experience of you - Living and working in the feeling you want to share with others - Doing the things you’re passionate about - Playing to your strengths and creating massive value - Being guided by realisation, wisdom and insight - Being of service to others - Doing all of this with honesty, simplicity and authenticity - Having fun!!!!! I’m going to be doing this all month, and it’s all going to be free of charge. Some of it will be planned, and some will be spontaneous and on-the-fly. This is a brand new experiment for me, and the cool thing about experiments is when you do one, you always get a result (though it may not be the result you expected!) Q: Does this sound like an interesting experiment to you? If it does, let me know in the comments on this post in the Thriving Coaches Community here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/claritylifecommunity/posts/2905539916418479/ Big love Jamie PS I’ll be doing a Facebook Live tomorrow (Wednesday, August 31st) at 3:30 pm UK (7:30 am PT, 10:30 am ET) to get this show on the road! I’m Jamie Smart. Welcome to the podcast.
The recording you’re about to hear is a conversation with my dear friend and colleague Garret Kramer on the state of the world today.
It often seems to me like we’re living in the pages of a Marvel comic, and a lot has changed since Garret & I last spoke together in public, so it seemed like a good time to catch up.
We had a great conversation, and we covered topics as wide-ranging as the 3 principles, authoritarianism, true identity, various mandates and much more.
Just before we get to that, I wanted to mention that the doors are now open for the January 2022 intake of our flagship Clarity Certification Training programme.
Clarity Certification has recently been accredited by the International Coaching Federation (the ICF) as a provider of Continuous Coach Education, so if you’re already an ICF-certified coach, you can use the programme to earn CCE units. Either way, you can take part in CCT with full confidence that the programme is fully accredited by the ICF as a Continuous Coaching Education provider. 21 Oct 2019 | #027 - Setting the foundations for a 1:1 coaching intensive | 00:26:19
This episode is something I’m really excited to share with you. It’s an excerpt from a one-off event I ran two years ago, called “The 1:1 Coaching Intensive Unpacked”. Here’s the backstory: As you may be aware, one of the way I love to work with my clients is by doing a 3-day, 1:1 coaching intensive. I find that the intensive format means you can achieve in a few days what would previously have taken a whole year to accomplish, so it’s a really powerful format. So in my book RESULTS, one of the chapters included a story about the time one of my apprentices, the coach Ankush Jain, sat in and observed while I did a 3-day 1:1 Intensive with a client, so he could have an experience of what it’s like to do an intensive. When that book came out, I had lots of people come to me and ask if they could sit in on an intensive. I understand - it’s hard to do something you don’t have a reference experience for, and most coaches and therapists have never experienced an intensive. But it just wasn’t practical for me to have groups of students sitting in on my intensives. So I managed to come up with something even better: I created a special event, where I conducted a 3-day, High-Value 1:1 Coaching Intensive, with a real, live, paying client, and we filmed the whole thing. Not only that: The whole time I was doing the intensive, there was a video feed to another room where a live audience of coaches, therapists, trainers and business people were watching and listening to the entire intensive. Before and after each intensive session, I came into the room with them to unpack everything that was going on. And we got all that on film too! So in this podcast episode, you’re going to hear the opening session that I did with that group of coaches, therapists and other professionals. You’re going to hear me ‘laying the ground’ and setting the foundations for the whole experience, including some of the most important distinctions you need to pay attention to when you’re doing an intensive. By the way, if you want to see and hear all the intensive and group sessions, head over to www.ClarityAcademy.co/intensive where you’ll find all the details about the 1:1 Coaching Intensive unpacked. You see, It can be incredibly difficult to do something new when you don't have a reference experience for it… That's why I created this programme: To give you your own personal reference experience so you have the confidence AND the competence to structure, deliver and enroll clients on High-Value 1:1 Coaching Intensives. We’re launching the programme this week, so you can save £300 when you register before midnight on Friday, 25th October, and there’s a special bonus package when you sign up now, so head over to www.ClarityAcademy.co/intensive if you want to get your own personal reference experience, and develop the confidence AND the competence to structure, deliver and enroll clients on High-Value 1:1 Coaching Intensives.
04 Aug 2021 | #080 - Behind The scenes: Enrolling a 5-figure Package Client | 00:45:18
Welcome to the podcast; I’m Jamie Smart, and I’ve got a question for you. What would you like to ask a 1:1 coaching client about their experience of being enrolled on a high-value, 5-figure coaching package? In this episode, you’re going to hear a conversation I had today with one of my 1:1 coaching clients, Nic Jarvis. Nic has kindly agreed to answer questions from members of our community about his experience of being enrolled on a high-value coaching package. This is super-valuable because most coaches never get to hear a client's perspective on the enrollment experience, so now's your chance to find out. Here are some of the questions Nic answered: Susanne Hake asked, “Was it uncomfortable for you at any point before, during or after? And if: what was the content about the uncomfortableness?” Angela Durrant asked “1)Did you already have the money to invest or did you find it? And 2) did you pay up front or ask for a payment plan? Was it comfortable or uncomfortable to meet the terms?” Alan Martin asked, “If the price of the coaching package was a stretch for you, what was your self-talk (if you can remember), leading up to you saying 'yes'? I guess what I am asking is what was going through your mind before you eventually committed to the coaching and what did Jamie say to you that convinced you that you should go for it?” Elaine Wright asked, “At what point, and for what reason was your enrollment a ‘Hell YES, I’m in!”? She also asked, “What was your return on investment” so I asked Nic that. Then Elaine asked the question everyone really wanted to ask… “What was the difference between your expectations before you went in and what you actually got?” I put all of these to Nic, and we had an enlightening and super-practical conversation. By the way, this episode is brought to you by the Thriving Coaches Blueprint programme, my 90-day coaching intensive to help you get clients, grow your business and make the difference you’re here to make. Doors close this Friday, August 6th, and you can learn more and register now at JamieSmart.com/thriving So here’s my conversation with Nic Jarvis...

Here’s what it was about: I asked people to think of the most difficult and challenging people to discuss your work with - especially clients – and then they came on the session LIVE and role-played those people and scenarios so I could demonstrate how I’d handle it.
08 Aug 2018 | #008 - Demo - Money Beliefs and Signing up Coaching Clients | 01:06:53
This episode is a coaching session I did with coach and therapist Pete Bryceland nearly 4 years ago during the beta test of the Thriving Coaches Blueprint programme. I did the session in a group setting and the reason this may be of particular interest to you is that in the 3 weeks following the session Pete signed up two coaching clients on packages of 10 thousand pounds each. So he made more money in that month than he’d made in the previous year.
By the way we are about to kick off the final Thriving Coaches Blueprint of 2018. The doors close this Frida, august 10th and for the first time in 3 years I’m going to be doing all the group coaching sessions on this intake personally.
That means that each person who come on this intake of the programme is going to get 1-1 coaching with me in a group context. So if you want to find out what’s involved and see if you’re a good fit go to www.JamieSmart.com/thriving

30 Mar 2020 | #033 - MASTERCLASS: Finding your bearings in turbulent times | 01:00:43
I'm Jamie Smart - welcome to the podcast. You don't need me to tell you that, as I record this, we're living through a time of extreme volatility and uncertainty. One aspect of that is the coronavirus and its health impacts. Another aspect is the societal and economic impacts of our response to the pandemic. But the third, and for many people the most troubling aspect is the psychological and emotional distress that people are dealing with in relation to all this. This week's podcast is a recording of an online masterclass I did recently called "Finding your bearings in turbulent times." As you listen, we’re going to be exploring the things that can help you to… - Navigate these rapidly changing circumstances. 31 Jan 2025 | #127 - COACHING DEMO: Courage, Imposter Syndrome, and Following Your Heart | 00:24:39
Earlier this month, I had the privilege of speaking at a Masterclass hosted by my dear friend Simon Paine, co-founder of the Rebel Business School. Simon is a Clarity Coach and a successful entrepreneur in his own right, and it’s always a pleasure to speak with his community. One of the highlights of the session was a live coaching demo I did with Evie, who shared her struggles with imposter syndrome and her dream of stepping into her full potential. What unfolded was one of those transformative conversations that cuts through noise and gets to the heart of what really holds us back - and what’s possible when we trust the wisdom within. In this week’s podcast episode, you’ll discover:
After our session, Evie sent me a heartfelt email about her experience. With her permission, here’s what she shared: Hi Jamie I just wanted to drop a personal thank you for yesterday's Master Transformational Impact session via Rebel Business School. Whilst I found the whole session to be inspirational, the one on one section did exactly as it said on the tin. I've awoken today with a released sense of clarity and purpose. So much of what you spoke about resonated deeply with me, and our conversation cracked open something inside that I've been working on for a number of years. It felt as though in that held space I finally felt my heart take over from the negativity in my brain. It was powerful. So, thank you again. I am truly grateful for our conversation yesterday. Warmest wishes Evie Jones This episode is a chance to reconnect with your own inner wisdom and say yes to what life is calling you to create. 28 Feb 2018 | PCP 014: Nick Bottini - Winning at the Best Selling Book Game | 00:42:46
This episode is a little bit different to the usual format because it’s the recording of a conversation I had with Clarity Coach and Mentor, Nick Bottini. I met Nick a couple of years ago when he was in the beta-test group for the programme that became 'The Thriving Coaches Blueprint’. Nick is a coach; he wanted to grow his practice and he got more and more interested in the principles behind clarity. Now Nick has written a book called ‘Just Play’. He’s doing amazing stuff, some of which you will hear about in this episode. We got on a call because he wanted to explore ideas about how he could get his book to reach as many people as possible and how to get it on to the bestseller lists. Part of it is a coaching session and part of it is a chat between friends about something he wants to accomplish - something I have experience of. But as you’ll hear at certain points in the conversation it goes much deeper and into the domain of Clarity Coaching and (as you’ll hear), that’s where the turning point in the conversation is. 15 Aug 2019 | #024 - TCP INTERVIEW: The Coaching Show | 00:28:04
This episode is a little different, because rather than me interviewing someone, it’s me *being* interviewed for The Coaching Show, by Master Coach Christopher McAuliffe and another coach, Alex Terranova. And this was an interesting one.
27 Feb 2020 | #032 - TCP INTERVIEW: The Coaching Show | 00:30:01
This episode is a re-release of an interview from last summer, but as you’ll hear, it’s a conversation with a difference, because rather than me interviewing someone, it’s me *being* interviewed for The Coaching Show, by ICF Master Coach Christopher McAuliffe and his colleague Alex Terranova. And this was an interesting one. As you’ll hear, it was pretty fast-paced, and I really enjoyed the challenge of making the value and approach involved in principles based coaching explicit to a couple of experienced coaches who were brand new to the subject. We talked about 3-day intensives, and what has to happen before a busy executive is willing to take 3 days out of a packed schedule to do an intensive with you. We also talked a lot about the whole domain of growing a coaching practice. Speaking of which, back when we released the episode, I announced that I was running my last ever 90-day Coaching Immersion. One of my business mentors had said that 90 days (12 weeks) was too much - that we should limit the programme to 60 days max, or even just do it as a digital course. So I decided to do one last 90-day programme, and run all three tracks as a single group. We had coaches who wanted to get clients, enroll them on coaching packages and make a difference doing the Thriving Coaches Blueprint track… XXX LINK www.JamieSmart.com/thriving XXX We had people who wanted to change careers to do something more fulfilling and on-purpose doing the Career Transition Blueprint track… XXX LINK www.JamieSmart.com/escape XXX We had people who just wanted to see the principles behind clarity more deeply in the most important aspects of their lives doing the Clarity for Personal Transformation track… XXX LINK www.ClarityAcademy.co/transform12 XXX But they were all doing it in one group, meeting up with me each week for 1:1 coaching in a group context… It was an experiment. It was the first time I’d ever combined all three tracks. I didn’t know exactly what was going to happen. But you know that feeling, when you try something out and it turns out even *better* than you expected? Yeah, that feeling. As we were going through the programme, one of the students asked me why this intake of the 12-week programme was the last one. He said (and I'm paraphrasing), "It's a great format - why are you stopping it?" I explained that we were planning to release these 3 tracks as digital programmes, and experiment with a shorter, 6-8 week format, but it suddenly occurred to me that I should check with the folks on the programme. So I asked them, “How has 12 weeks been for you, in terms of your levels of engagement / amount of progress / amount of time you could devote to it / how much you've learned / how far you've come etc?” Basically, for what we've been doing, was 12 weeks too long, too short, or just right? The vast majority of the people on the programme replied, “Just right.” And here's the thing. That's how I felt too. I enjoyed the hell out of it! So I’ve decided to do a 180. We’re doing the 12-week Coaching Immersion again. I’m going to be doing all 3 tracks, and we’ve got some great coaches and aspiring coaches already signed up and ready to start with the Thriving Coaches Blueprint track. We’re starting soon - the doors close on 11th march. This is a chance to work closely with me in a small group setting, so if you’ve been thinking about making some changes, now’s a good time! If you’re a coach and you want to get clients and grow your practice in a way that feels great and fits with who you really are you can find out more about the Thriving Coaches Blueprint at jamiesmart.com/thriving. 12 Aug 2019 | #023 - Body Image, Identity and Wellbeing | 00:21:27
A few weeks ago, my good friend Charli Wall invited me to do a talk and some coaching demos for a group of people on one of her programmes. 💜 I love doing coaching demos (it's one of my top skills), so I happily agreed 😀 Then Charli told me the subject… She wanted me to talk about body image. I explained to her that I’d never really given ‘body image’ much thought, but that I’d be happy to share what it looked like to me. So that’s what I did. I started with a question: “What is body image?” And we took it from there. The talk ranged from puppies to epistemology… from toddlers to your true identity… And at one point it occurred to me to ask a question that had never occurred to me before (this is the brain-teaser)… "If you were to wake up tomorrow morning and discover that your body image had improved, like it was 2x or 5x or 100 times as good… how would you know?" I spoke for 18 minutes, and then we spent the next 40 minutes doing coaching demos. The coaching demos are private and confidential, but Charli kindly gave me permission to share this 18-minute body-image talk with my community. Would you like to see / hear the session?

01 Mar 2017 | YEP 022: Garret Kramer - Stay In The Game | 01:07:41
For this episode we're doing something different. This is a recording of an interview I did with my dear friend and colleague Garret Kramer, six years ago. Both he and I have continued growing and evolving since we recorded this, but there's still plenty of gold in here. Garret Kramer is a coach, trainer and the founder of Inner Sports. He has provided consulting and/or crisis management services to hundreds of athletes and coaches; from well known professionals, Olympians, and teams, to high school and collegiate players across a multitude of sports. A former collegiate ice hockey player, Garret is credited with bringing the inside-out understanding to the athletic community at large. And one of the interesting things about Garret is he’s the author of two books, Stillpower: The Inner Source of Athletic Excellence, and The Path of No Resistance: Why Overcoming is Simpler than You Think. 06 Nov 2024 | #116 - Jeff Booth – Freedom, Tech & Spirituality in Business | 01:10:01
Hi. I’m Jamie Smart. Welcome to the podcast. As you may know, I've long been fascinated with exponential technology and its impact on us and our world. With that in mind, I've decided that in this season of the 'The Thriving Coaches' podcast, I'm going to be having conversations with people who can share insights to help us navigate this rapidly changing landscape from a psychological and spiritual perspective. My first guest is Jeff Booth, a friend whose work I've been exploring for several years. Jeff is a bestselling author, tech entrepreneur and a very deep thinker. He's one of the founding partners of "Ego Death Capital", a fund for investing in technology startups, and Jeff coaches and mentors the tech entrepreneurs and teams the fund invests in. And here's the thing that had me realise he'll be a great guest for the podcast. I was reading his superb book, "The Price of Tomorrow", and many of the things he said let me know that Jeff understands something worth knowing about who we really are. Then, as I listened to some of his interviews, I realised he has a very practical understanding of "how life works" that I'd love to explore more deeply with him, and to share with you. One thing: I had to listen to Jeff share his perspective a number of times before I really *got* what he’s pointing to, so this may be one you want to come back to again and again. Just before we get to that, I wanted to mention that the doors are now open for the January 2025 intake of our flagship Clarity Certification Training programme.
