Formed in the summer of 2021, Checkout Queens is a punk rock band hailing from Saskatoon, SK. The band members, self-described theatre nerds, came together during a local production of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” Their music is a compelling mix of humor, punchy rhythms, and relatable lyrics that resonate with audiences. In 2023, they released their debut self-titled EP, which was engineered and produced by Matt Stinn at Rainy Day Recording Co. Checkout Queens quickly made a name for themselves in the Saskatoon music scene, earning the 2023 NSMZ Rising Star Award.

On May 15th, our friend Gary-O passed away suddenly, in his sleep. Last year, almost to the day, we recorded an episode with him in his studio in Prince Albert. Christie-Anne Blondeau was barely 4 when the passion for singing and rhythm took hold of this unstoppable singer. Born in a small Francophone village in Saskatchewan, Christie-Anne Blondeau had no idea she could sing in different genres therefore she followed her surroundings.  She was always ‘different’ when she sang with others in her younger years.  She was louder, prouder and braver when she had a microphone in her hand. To this day, the stage is her safe place and with a microphone in hand (sometimes a mic is not even required because of the strength of her voice!), she takes command and brings you with her on her musical journey.
