Luis Escobar is a legend in the trail running community. Luis is a full time adventure photographer, avid trail runner and race director for his own running company, All We Do Is Run. As a runner, he was one of the inaugural ultrarunners invited down to join the infamous race through Copper Canyons in the book “Born To Run.” He is a 8x Western States finisher, 12x HURT 100 finisher & one time champion, and finisher among more of the most difficult events we know to exist in the ultrarunning space including Badwater and Leadville. As a race director, he plans to host the second annual Snowman Race this year in Bhutan. The Snowman Race is the ultimate race for climate action, taking runners over 123 miles of extremely challenging terrain through the Himalayan Mountains. She is also secretary of the World Mountain Running Association and started the first Women’s US Mountain Running Team in 1995. Nancy is a pioneer of the sport, specifically for women, and this conversation takes many twists and turns going into the history of sport and her background in trail running. Let’s dive in!

In this episode, Aimee and Emily chat with Steven Lange, another local East Coast athlete. They discuss a variety of topics around trail running, training, and running longevity. Steve recently won Hyner 25k, raced a top 10 finish at the Breakneck Half-Marathon, has numerous other wins in a variety of ultra and sub ultra races and holds numerous FKT’s. Notably, he won Manitou’s Revenge (54 miler) with an impressive finish time of 11 hours and 3 min in 2022, and also won Breakneck’s 21k in the same year. Steven runs for Inov8 and is currently a coach for his own business, Lange Coaching. On today’s episode we are joined by Courtney Morrissette from Change Climate Project. A 501(c)3 nonprofit, Change Climate leads a global movement of individuals and companies to eliminate carbon emissions. Their label, Climate Neutral Certified, is a trusted, independent standard for climate neutrality that empowers consumers to find brands that are leading on immediate climate action. Courtney is a Program Manager on the team focused on carbon reductions - she works closely with brands to provide guidance and resources for companies to set science-aligned targets and short term reduction action plans as a part of the certification and their broader decarbonization strategy. Courtney worked hand in hand with Aimee as she achieved carbon neutral certification for The Running Kind.
