Immigration to Ireland rose by 32 per cent to more than 140,000 in the year ending April 2023. Of these arrivals, more than 13,000 were asylum seekers. And since the Russian invasion, nearly 100,000 Ukrainians have arrived in Ireland. The immigration influx – the largest since 2007 – comes amid a shortfall of 250,000 homes in Ireland and astronomical rent prices. The Irish government recently admitted that there is not enough room to house new arrivals, slashing the monetary allowance for Ukrainians by four fifths and offering new asylum seekers tents to sleep in.

Laura Boyle is a leading campaigner against plans to house 56 International Protection Applicants (all men) at the historic Abbeyville House in Fermoy in County Cork. Laura lives four doors away from Abbeyville House. She came on the show to explain why so many locals are opposed to the plans.

Farmers are furious at French and European rules and said they intend to “starve Parisians”. Long lines of tractors are blocking motorways at eight entry points to the city as one militant union promised to take control of the world’s biggest fresh food market. “[Blockading Paris] will happen naturally. Parisians are going to be hungry. The goal is to starve Parisians. That’s it”, said Benoît Durand, a grain farmer. Durand, like thousands of others, said he is struggling against low income, red tape and environmental policies that are pushing costs up. The evidence used to justify the use of judge only trials in rape cases in Scotland is fundamentally flawed according to criminology lecturer Dr. Stuart Waiton. Is there any proof that so-called "rape myths" lead to prejudicial juries and allow rapists to walk free? Stuart Waiton discusses this and more with Richie.

Richie is joined by Fotini Hamplova and Captain Bahig Saliba. Searchgoodbooks.com was set up to help parents and teachers find quality and age-appropriate books for children. According to the website: "Thousands of books are being published for children and young people every year. These are promoted everywhere, in libraries, schools, bookstores and digitally. However, when we tried to get books for our children to read, we found that many of these books were not worth reading. We started to feel that this mass of publications was creating so much noise, that it was becoming harder for families to find the good books. It feels as if all the quality literature has gotten mixed up with, and buried under, the endless pile of ‘not that great books’. Fotini Hamplova holds a PhD in Philosophy of Education. She sources (and reviews) books for the website.

This led to a demonstration outside the hotel on Tuesday evening, which was attended by figures prominent in the anti-immigrant movement and during which officers were targeted with fireworks.

Richie is joined by the Irish author and journalist John Waters. This coming Friday, Irish voters will be asked to vote on two very important constitutional changes. According to The Irish Independent:
"Éamon de Valera’s officials wrote the 1937 Constitution, with considerable input from the Catholic bishops, and it was narrowly endorsed in our first referendum in June of that year. Over its 87 years the document has evolved through Supreme Court test-case rulings and 38 referendums. But many people have long felt references to the role of women in the home and the family based on marriage are seriously out of line with life as lived in modern Ireland. These proposed changes have been talked about for decades – now it’s up to the voters to decide on March 8."

John Waters discusses the importance of these referendums with Richie.

John also discussed the state of fathers rights in today's society. There was a huge reaction to this. There will be a special show on the issue soon.
