Radical Ones!

"Land of the Dead (also known as George A. Romero's Land of the Dead) is a 2005 post-apocalyptic horror film written and directed by George A. Romero; the fourth of Romero's six Living Dead movies, it is preceded by Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead, and succeeded by Diary of the Dead and Survival of the Dead. It was released in 2005, with a budget of $15–19 million, the highest in Romero's Dead series, and has grossed $46 million."

14 May 2021Episode 26: "Practical Magic" (1998)01:01:47

So Ryan loves the 90's witchy flick "Practical Magic" and Rob....not so much! We discuses the Fox Family/ABC Family/Freeform Channel Halloween staple and Rob also coins the term "Snow Globe" movie!

Can Ryan convince Rob that this film is truly a classic? Or will Rob continue to call it the movie where "they use witch powers to turn on a blender?"

"Practical Magic is a 1998 American romantic comedy fantasy film based on the 1995 novel of the same name by Alice Hoffman.  "Two witch sisters, raised by their eccentric aunts in a small town, face closed-minded prejudice and a curse which threatens to prevent them ever finding lasting love."

15 Apr 2022Episode 61: "Bunnicula The Vampire Rabbit" (1982 TV Special)🐰00:43:27

🐰Today is a childhood favorite for Ryan and David, the book(s) and TV special "Bunnicula The Vampire Rabbit" from 1982! We also talk Easter treats like Peeps and black jellybeans....as well as Skipper possibly being Barbies secret daughter!?

🐰 "This 1982 animated TV special by the same name was created based on the first book and aired on the ABC Weekend Special. The animated special deviated heavily from the novels and actively depicted Bunnicula using vampiric powers, which did not occur in the novels. When strange accidents happen at the factory where Mr. Monroe works, and vegetables are drained of their juices, the neighbors as well as Harold the dog and Chester the cat suspect that the new-found family bunny is really a vampire."

04 Apr 2025Episode 154: "Ghost Fever" (1987) 👻🧛🏼‍♂️🧟00:58:16

Welcome Back Radical Ones! ⚡️

This week on the show, Ryan and Rob are diving headfirst into the 1987 spectacle that is "Ghost Fever"! Ryan is going in blind, but Rob has already witnessed this "classic" (and we're using that term very loosely).

Prepare for a movie that throws everything at the screen, including breakdancing sequences, a surprisingly lengthy 20-minute boxing match, spooky voodoo curses, a creature of the night in the form of a vampire, a shambling crew of zombies, and the legendary Sherman Hemsley in a scene you won't soon forget – involving a torture device and a rather unfortunate posterior impalement!

With Rob's prior knowledge and Ryan's fresh perspective, will Mr. Jefferson's presence elevate this cinematic oddity? Or will it simply amplify the sheer, unadulterated weirdness? Is "Ghost Fever" a misunderstood masterpiece lurking in VHS tapes, a cinematic trainwreck of epic proportions, or something utterly unique?

Tune in to find out if we survive this one!

Watch The Full Movie here for free!

Stars: Sherman Hemsley, Luis Ávalos, Jennifer Rhodes, Deborah Benson, Diana Brookes and Myron Healey.

Radical Ones This Week We Are Serving You More Brains! 🧠

Ryan catches up with everyone's favorite brother, David who's on a fasting diet. Also this week we bring back the DEAD with the 1988 sequel: "Return Of The Living Dead Part 2"

"Curious kids unearth the barrels that previously helped revive the dead, which proves the second time's an undead charm....A drum of Trioxin, the stuff from the first film that reanimates the dead, falls from back of an army truck into the town of Westvale. It is later opened by two bullies, and the stuff is soon all over the local graveyard, with comedic zombie hijinx as a result."

18 Feb 2022Episode: 55 "Sugar Hill" aka "The Zombies Of Sugar Hill" (1974)00:51:33

This is hands down a favorite of Ryan and David: It's "Sugar Hill" a 1974 horror blaxploitation zombie film, directed by Paul Maslansky and starring Marki Bey as the title character who uses voodoo to get revenge on the people responsible for her boyfriend's death. It also stars the amazing Zara Cully (aka Mother Jefferson) as "Mama" Maitresse."

"When her boyfriend is murdered by gangsters, Sugar Hill decides not to get mad, but BAD! She entreats voodoo queen Mama Maitresse to call on Baron Samedi, Lord of the Dead, for help with a gruesome revenge. In exchange for Sugar's soul, the Dark Master raises up a zombie army to do her bidding. The bad guys who think they got away clean are about to find out that they're DEAD wrong."

(Today's movie from 1974 uses language and stereotypes that are considered outdated and harmful. Including Infrequent use of the "N" word. Viewer Discretion is Advised if film is watched after this review.)
