1. Mother-focused arguments such as when a mother is a victim of sexual assault.

While many conversations focus on bad science which suggests pre-born humans are some how not living members of the human species, some times pro-lifers face bad philosophical arguments which suggest that not all humans should get human rights, particularly not the human right to not be killed.

Many of the justifications for abortions start with pro-life ambassadors challenging abortion advocates to consider the lives of pre-born children, yet when abortion advocates attempt to defend abortion seemingly out of compassion for pre-born children when parents are given a difficult pre-natal diagnosis, pro-lifers can feel as though the tables have been turned, and that they are now the ones not caring "enough" for pre-born children.

In today's episode, Cam explores considerations around approaching these conversations, talks about a few common arguments that should actually be avoided, before talking about how common ground, analogies, and questions can and should be applied to help those we are speaking with understand that even in these situations, our compassion for a child can never lead us towards directly and intentionally ending their life.

Basically everyone thinks it's wrong to kill a baby girl before she's born simply because she's a baby girl, yet there is absolutely nothing legally preventing these little girls from being killed in Canada. While following the road map and having productive conversations can be quite manageable and straight-forward when you're only talking to one or two people at a time, things can get a lot more complicated when you're talking to a large group of people (especially high school students) who all have different questions. Often, pro-lifers end up answering countless questions, only to have the end-of-lunch bell ring and realize that while they bridged the gap really well 100 times, they didn't make a tremendous amount of progress beyond that.

We present them and highlight why we think the arguments are incomplete and why you shouldn't use them unless they're a part of a greater argument.
