15 May 2024 | Trauma Therapy: Why you may need EMDR | 01:00:45
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and in honor of my advocacy for more open conversation surrounding Mental health, I will be featuring episodes on ways to take care of our mental health so we can better care for ourselves and our children. Therapy is highly beneficial, and various modalities are used. EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is an evidence-based approach that has been shown to help in processing traumatic events and changing negative patterns and helping people with mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, and OCD. I personally started EMDR earlier this year, and in honor of Maternal Mental Health Month, I invited Dr. Cassidy Freitas, who is a licensed marriage and family therapist who also does EMDR.
We discuss:
What EMDR is and the steps of EMDR
Who would be a good candidate
Examples of how EMDR helped me and Dr. Cassidy

This is a completely impromptu episode I had to release because it shares my love for all children (and, of course, my kiddos) with all of you! My son, Ryaan, is four years old and loves playing with my podcast mic. So, the other day after preschool, I had him join me for a conversation.

Favorite foods and vegetables
What makes us feel better when we’re sad
And, of course, we sing a song from Frozen
This episode is kid-friendly, and I encourage you to listen to it with your toddlers or preschoolers!
Disclaimer: the word penis is said because we teach our son anatomic body parts, and it came up in this impromptu conversation!

14 Aug 2024 | "They Called us Exceptional:" The downfall of the model-minority narrative | 00:52:15
The model-minority myth is harmful to our mental health, particularly within immigrant communities. I welcome Prachi Gupta to talk about the model-minority narrative and the impact it has on all of us and on the changes needed for future generations.

26 Mar 2025 | Is "Make America Healthy Again" Actually Helping Public Health? | 01:45:39
Is America REALLY less healthy than it used to be? Or is that just a myth?
Lately, the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement has been romanticizing the past—but was it really a "healthier" time? 🤔 Higher infant mortality, shorter life expectancy, and limited medical advancements suggest otherwise.
Today, I’m joined by Nini Munoz, Science & Risk Communicator, and Dr. Jessica Knurick, Dietitian & Nutrition Scientist, to break down:
The myth of the 'healthier past'—why public health was worse, not better.
Misinformation & fear-based narratives—how MAHA spreads harmful myths about vaccines, food, and disease.
The real problem with food policy—why fixating on seed oils & food dyes distracts from real issues like ultra-processed food and food deserts.
The wellness industry’s role—how influencers profit off fear with detoxes, supplements, and misinformation via predatory wellness.
What actually improves health—real solutions like healthcare access, school lunch reform, and food subsidies.
It’s time to stop falling for misguided nostalgia and start focusing on evidence-based solutions that actually improve public health. Tune in now!

She joins me to discuss:
What inspired her ambition and shaped her understanding of hard work
The importance of fostering curiosity about finances in children
How being “rich” encompasses more than just financial status

02 Mar 2022 | Why forgiveness is so powerful in healing and self-growth | 00:25:22
The finding joy series is a seres to promote mindset shifts, encourage self-growth, and inspire self-insight for you as parents.
I think our biggest barriers as parents is we don't connect with our own feelings, anger, resentment, and past that it prohibits us from showing up for our children as our authentic and true selves.
In this epiosde I discuss the power of forgiveness. I discuss why forgiveness is vital in healing from difficult experiences (ex. birth trauma, generational trauma, or relationships).
I give examples on how forgiveness can help, how to implement it into your life, and why it will make you a happier parent.

Let’s call a spade a spade here. Your Pediatrician is burnt out. Low insurance reimbursement, low salaries compared to other medical specialties, long hours, and the stress and worry of the job have led a lot of Pediatricians to cut their hours or leave the workforce. I speak with Dr. Elliston, a former colleague of mine and founder of @ellistonpediatrics. He left traditional pediatric medicine to start a large and thriving Concierge Medicine practice in NYC.
We discuss:
Why doctors are burnt out and why the system is failing us and patients
What are the benefits of concierge medicine
How does it work with insurance and for emergencies

ISR is gaining popularity in the U.S. As a Pediatrician in Florida, I know many families who have signed up for ISR classes for their children. We also started it but had to cancel due to the commute and weather delays.
But, there are a lot of misconceptions about ISR. I invited Erika Wilson, ISR instructor and owner of @seastarisr to discuss all things ISR and why it should be a swimming educational resource option for all families.
We discuss:
What Infant swimming resource (ISR) is and when you can start

Things to consider when signing up for an ISR class
ISR is not available for all families in terms of time and finances.
Water safety with swim classes and supervision are important for all children.
