07 Mar 202216. HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S MONTH00:09:47

Happy International Women's Month and Day (May 8th)

This week's episode is not our usual format but we wanted to acknowledge and celebrate us, women!

We are strong, beautiful, and contribute so much to our world. Sometimes most of it goes unseen. This month is here to remind us of what we are capable of and to stand up and support one another.

Women, mothers, aunts, daughters, sisters... we are all together and we must stay united. We have come a long way in the last 100 years and we have more to go. Let this be a time of remembrance, representation, and strive to continue to gain the recognition and equality we so very much deserve.

Who was your strong women role model growing up?

14 Mar 202217. SIBLING STRUGGLES00:32:29

One of the most important relationships that we must maintain throughout life is those with our siblings. It is such a fragile relationship that must be protected from the day it starts and in this week's episode, we discuss how to handle the struggles between siblings as parents.

Sometimes we just need to get to the root of the feelings behind the arguments/fights. Amma Lisa gives us some reminders about how to address and resolve the feelings with each child.

If you grew up with siblings you know what we are talking about.

If you have more than one child we are interested to hear how your kids get along. What are some things that help? What are some things they most commonly fight about?

Springtime is here!

Are you looking for activities to do with your kids?

Well, one of the easiest is just getting outside with them! You don't have to make it complicated. Get outside and go for a walk, sometimes you don't even need a destination in mind. Just see where your kids take you!

This week Amma Lisa and Mama Sareena have a little too much fun talking about all the benefits that come with just spending some time outside. Springtime is the most fun because we get to see everything coming back to life after winter.

We hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed talking about this exciting time of the year!

04 Apr 202220. WHEN THE 'BACK TALK' STARTS00:25:40

Did you know talking back is a normal stage of development?

I know it's hard to accept but it is and that just means they are going through the motions of growing up! It shows they are voicing their opinions which is important. We want to encourage that in a positive way and in this week's episode Amma Lisa teaches us how to deal with our kids when they are going through this phase.

This episode has some very helpful tips on how to keep the situation from escalating and how to react or not.

11 Apr 202221. ENCOURAGE OUR KIDS COOPERATION00:36:11

When you ask something of your kids does it feel like a battle you will never win?

We understand how hard it could be to get our kids to do the things we ask of them. This week we have some ways to help prevent starting those battles. Getting our kids cooperation is not easy but with some knowledge and techniques we can minimize the struggle and strengthen the relationship by encouraging healthy communication. This is a prequel to our last episode "back talk" so if you haven't listened to that one yet this is a good one to start with because when this goes wrong that's how we end up with our kids talking back.

Let us know what you think and if you have any questions!

19 Apr 202222. HOLD YOUR BABIES00:31:28

What do you need for your newborn?

One thing  you will definitely need is a baby wrap! This is a baby registry must have and if you are not having a baby shower then get one yourself.  Even a used one since baby gear can be very pricey.

But in this weeks episode we discuss the importance of baby wearing. It is great for bonding, soothing and building your babies security.

We hope you enjoy this episode and please share any feedback or comments with us on our pages! We'd love to hear from you parents 🤍

26 Apr 202223. BIRTHING SERIES PT. 1 - WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR BODY DURING LABOUR00:28:12

Do you actually know what is going on inside your body during labor?

Simply knowing and understanding how our bodies work when we are getting ready to give birth can make us feel more empowered going into it!

This week we have our first guest, Sharon Tolagson. Sharon is a very experienced midwife and registered nurse who is joining us for a five-part series to get our pregnant mamas ready for the most important day of our lives!

Please share this episode with any pregnant mamas you may know. It is filled with a wealth of knowledge and we have the discussions that most new mamas don't really have or hear about until we are going through it ourselves. And sometimes not even then!

Education is empowerment and giving birth is also one of the most empowering things we can experience as women. Some mamas give birth not even understanding all that their bodies go through and learning these things can give us so much pride in ourselves!

03 May 202224. BIRTHING SERIES PT. 2 - WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR BABY DURING LABOUR?00:33:01

Sometimes we get so caught up in preparing for birth and the pain that we are about to experience that we forget what the baby goes through during delivery!

When we are pregnant our babies only know the womb and are protected from bright lights, cold temperatures, loud noises, and are constantly being nourished. The journey out of their comfort zone is not an easy one either. They don't understand that they are separate from their mothers and what's waiting for them on the outside.

Our guest, Sharon Tolagson joins us again for the second part, what happens to our baby during labour.  Learning what the baby goes through can help us plan and prepare for their experience after birth and how to best advocate for them!

Please share this episode with any pregnant mamas you may know. It is filled with a wealth of knowledge and we hope to help educate and empower all those that are soon to be mothers or even if it is not your first child!

10 May 202225. BIRTHING SERIES PT. 3 - GET READY FOR HOW TO COPE WITH LABOUR00:37:17

Are you ready for the big day... or days?

This week our guest and very knowledgeable midwife will teach us how to cope with labour! How to prepare for it, build our endurance, breathe through the contractions, what our bodies do to help us, and also how to check in with ourselves and stay nourished to get through it!

If you are hoping for a natural birth, this episode will definitely help you try to get over that mountain. Sharon helps us get a better perspective of what our body needs, how to maintain our mental state and concentration to focus and have the birth we want!

Please share this episode with any pregnant mamas you may know. It is filled with a wealth of knowledge and we hope to help educate and empower all those that are soon to be mothers or even if it is not your first child!

17 May 202226. BIRTHING SERIES PT. 4 - KNOW ABOUT THE INTERVENTIONS AHEAD OF TIME00:43:27

Sometimes, the reason we need these riskier birth interventions is because we have chosen a small intervention, which has led to a bigger intervention, which has then led to a riskier intervention. This is known as the cascade of interventions.

Knowledge is empowerment and this week, midwife Sharon, shares an abundance of knowledge on interventions.

What are some interventions? What may happen if you choose to accept the intervention and how to decide if you want the intervention.

Mama Sareena gave birth last week and welcomed Baby Aniston into our village! Thanks to this series she was able to have the birth experience she always wanted and felt much more confident advocating for her birth plan!

We can't wait to hear about her experience the 2nd time around after learning everything from speaking with the super loving and supportive midwife Sharon ❤️

24 May 202227. BIRTHING SERIES PT. 5 - CREATE A BIRTH PLAN00:31:22

The last episode in our 5-part series preparing mothers for labor. This week we discuss how to create a birth plan to help our mamas get the best birth experience and feel empowered.

It is essential to take charge of your birth experience because you may not know if you will get another chance to go through it again. It is one of the most challenging but beautiful experiences you will ever have so make sure it is the experience you want!

You are in charge as it is your body, your baby and you run the show and not the doctors. They are there solely to catch the baby or make sure it is delivered safely.

After this 5-part series, we hope you mamas feel more confident and knowledgeable about your body and all the parts of getting your baby out in the most blissful way.

Delivering a baby has so many parts to it and in the midst of all the pain it is easy to throw everything out the window but if you come into it prepared with your support person on the same page we are sure you can make it a beautiful experience instead of a scary one if you are walking into the unknown!

We hope you enjoy and please share this podcast with any other expecting mothers or fathers as our mission is to help as many families as we could reach!

31 May 202228. BIRTH STORY PT. 100:37:26

After these 5 weeks we get to hear Mama Sareena's birth story! Thanks to Midwife Sharon, she had an empowered birth experience with no epidural. Using the tools she learned throughout the interviews Sareena was more knowledgeable and was able to speak up to get what she wanted for her and her daughter.

Even her husband walked into this birth with more knowledge and power to stand up for his partner. You will hear part 1 of her birth story this week and finish up with the postpartum and transition next week.

Hospital births can be very intimidating especially if you don't know what to expect so we hope that sharing this experience can give you more experience to know what could happen when the big day comes. Every experience will be different though and that does not make it less beautiful.

14 Jun 202230. GROWING GARDENS GROWING CHILDREN00:28:44

Growing gardens are a lot like raising children. They both need love and attention, they thrive when they are in the sun, and they come with different needs that need to be individually tended to in order to help them grow best!

In this week's episode, we chat about gardening with our kids and the similarities between both of them.

In our part of the world, it's getting warmer and plants are blossoming and blooming.  Here is a reminder to get outside with your kids and grandkids, play with some dirt, have fun and learn some lessons on patience and the beauty in nature.

21 Jun 202231. TERRIBLE OR TERRIFIC TWOS?00:32:31

This week's discussion consists of Amma Lisa trying to convince us that there is no such thing as terrible twos... Maybe we need to look at it in another way to see they are really terrific twos!

Toddlers are just experiencing normal developmental stages. It is how we deal with these changes that guide it down a bumpy road or a not-as bumpy road. The better we understand what our kids are experiencing the better we can manage their "big feelings" with more compassion.

Depending on your parenting style during this stage it will greatly impact how our kids learn to interact with others. We want to support them and always make them feel secure and loved but also let them know when something is unacceptable because they are constantly in a process of learning.

28 Jun 202232. SORRY BUT TIME OUT DOES NOT WORK00:33:52

I was put in time-outs and always thought I would give my kids time out just like I experienced growing up. I was going to 'discipline' my kids the way I was... except this week Amma Lisa teaches Mama Sareena how it actually doesn't work to get our desired results .

Our kid's misbehavior is usually a sign of a different issue. May it be attention, hunger, or tiredness and it is our jobs as parents to recognize these cues before we get the unwanted behavior.

It is important to set boundaries and let our children know what they are.  This week we talk about what that looks like!

12 Jul 202234. WE DON'T DO 'CRY IT OUT' HERE00:36:46

Are you sleep training? Have you heard of the cry it out method?

Well we are here to tell you it might not work. There are better ways and we hope you get something out of this episode like not using the cry it out method.

It is ok to hold your baby.

Our babies need us and you cannot ‘spoil’ a baby. If they need to be held and feel their mothers body close to theirs, that is normal. We are here to give you permission to hold those babies, sleep with them, rock them, soothe them.

This stage won’t last for long and before we know it they won’t want anything to do with us! Hold those babies mamas!

09 Aug 202238. HOW TO SUPPORT OUR CHILDREN THROUGH LOSS & GRIEF00:23:04

How do we explain death to our kids?

We may see it in our families, with pets, or even with family friends. But are our kids too young to know and understand death?

It seems like a heavy discussion for someone so little but we should know how to approach the conversation. Amma Lisa shares some great advice about how we can make them feel more comfortable with their grief.

Everyone has a different grieving process but it is important to allow our kids to have and share their big feelings.

We hope you enjoy and please share this podcast with anyone you think will benefit from it!

16 Aug 202239. LET'S TALK ABOUT FEELINGS00:26:01

What may seem like little feelings to us can be big feelings for our kids. These feelings can build up inside and lead to many behaviors that we may not like, which is why it is so important to let your kids know that we are here for them.

This is the foundation of gentle parenting. It is about mutual respect, teaching kids to manage their emotions, and modeling the behavior you want to see.

This style of parenting is recommended by most child development experts because:
It’s better for kids’ AND parents’ mental health
It fosters a stronger parent-child relationship
It’s more effective for managing behavior in the long run

In this episode, we talk about how this looks and why it is so important.

We hope you enjoy and please share this podcast with anyone you think will benefit from it!

23 Aug 202240. HOW DO WE RAISE INDEPENDENT KIDS?00:27:19

Are you worried about your kids depending too much on you? Well, we are their parents, aren't we? The best road to independence is through what's called INTERdependence.

They should be able to depend on us, which makes for a healthy relationship. Gentle parenting or attachment parenting is about building that foundation of trust so our kids feel comfortable becoming independent.

Independence is a normal and natural process for our kids. They want to learn how to do things on their own. It gives them a sense of pride.

In this episode you will learn why it is ok not to rush potty training, learning to walk, brush teeth,  get dressed and read on their own.  And when they do learn these things know that there will be regression at times. It's all part of the non-linear road to becoming truly independent.

We hope you enjoy and please share this podcast with anyone you think will benefit from it!

30 Aug 202241. STOP THE GLORIFICATION OF BUSY !00:25:11

Hey busy mom, did you forget we need rest days?

The importance of rest is vital to our health and so necessary that we make it a priority to have guilt free rest days with our families.

Don't stress that your child does not have their schedule mapped out perfectly.

We give you the okay to stop overscheduling and make room for free play.  I know we are all searching for kid's activities hoping to enhance your child's development but please trust that they learn as much just playing and exploring on their own.

Mom guilt is serious when you feel like your little ones are always bored but it's ok to be bored. Take advantage and rest or do something that is energizing for the body like getting into nature, or going for walks.

We hope you enjoy and please share this podcast with anyone you think will benefit from it!

20 Sep 202244. 3 REMINDERS THAT WILL HELP YOU MAKE MORE TIME FOR YOURSELF MAMAS !!00:20:04

Have you lost yourself in motherhood?

Are you so busy caring for the kids all day that you forget to feed yourself?

When is the last time you got a haircut?

What is one thing that you have been dying to do but could never find the time to get done?

Well, it is time to make time because it is now or never mama. Stop the mom guilt, stop the excuses, and schedule that time for yourself. Maintain your self-care routines and make sure that you are recharged and rejuvenated to give your kids the best version of yourself.

Reminder... we have the most important job that there is. We do so much and it goes unrecognized. There is no need for mom guilt when we have a never-ending to-do list on a day-to-day basis. We give you permission to make it a priority to take care of yourself as well. Let that soak in and think about what really makes you happy, switch it up but at least30 minutes a day do something for you. That can look like walking, running, cooking, praying, meditating, reading, dancing, taking a bath, or just sitting outside.

Your homework is to do something that absolutely fills you up today, even if it is just for 30 minutes!

28 Sep 202245. CONNECTION BEFORE CORRECTION, FOUNDATION TO GENTLE & RESPECTFUL PARENTING EP. 4 REPLAY00:25:56

Since we are under construction and coming to you with new changes next week, we brought it back to one of our beginning episodes. Ep. 4 "Connection Before Correction" is all about why it is important and more helpful to try and connect before your correct your child's behaviors.

When raising our toddlers we should strive for a relationship based off of mutual trust and respect. This can be attained when we model how that looks with them. Gentle/Respectful parenting acknowledges that your kids may have big feelings and we can give them the words and space to express them. We do not have to correct but we can set boundaries and do not have to accept certain behaviors.

It is important to pay attention to our tone and best to try and redirect instead of trying to take control.  When we connect we calm their brain which will help avoid bigger outbursts.

Your homework is to try not to say "no" to your little one today, keep a cool tone, and redirect! Let us know how it goes!

12 Oct 202247. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A NURTURING PARENT?00:23:49

This week we wanted to share why we chose "The Nurturing Parent" and what that means for us. We believe that a nurturing parent allows for the healthy growth and development of their little ones.

Here are 4 basics of how to be a nurturing parent to your babies.

This also may just serve as a reminder to cherish your little ones, show them love, accept them and all their feelings,  and encourage them. By doing this we will be raising good human beings, it will make our parenting journey easier, and you will enjoy your little ones more when you embrace your nurturing side without the business and distractions that we encounter every day.

Being a nurturing parent builds trust and respect, emphasizes connection, and requires you to be present. This all builds the confidence and self-esteem of our young ones which allows them to develop into strong independent individuals.

We get into the basics but a nurturing parent has many other qualities as well. This may look different for each individual parent as well.

What does a nurturing parent look like for you?

Your homework is to embrace those nurturing instincts and hug and love your kids all you can this weekend, make it your intention with undivided attention! 🥰

08 Nov 202251. 5 WAYS TO SELF REGULATE YOURSELF IN THE MIDST OF CHAOS00:23:52

Do you want to respond to your kid's verse reacting to them? Or do you just feel like everything has to be a fight, like getting into the shower or cleaning up toys?

Sometimes we have to look at ourselves first to be able to understand our kids' reactions and behaviors.

At such a young age, they rely on us to help them manage their emotions, they co-regulate. They regulate themselves based on us. So we must set an example and teach and model ways to calm and self-regulate before reacting with outbursts of yelling or anger.

Self-regulation is a life skill that highly successful people have. We teach this to our kids by modeling it ourselves.  Here are 5 ways that we can learn to self-regulate and show our kids to take a step back.

15 Nov 202252. OLDER SIBLING BEING ROUGH WITH NEW BABY? WHAT TO DO OR HOW TO PREVENT IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!00:30:27

Do you have a toddler and an infant? Worried about jealousy, hitting, and regressions when welcoming a new one to the family?
Is your toddler starting to exhibit aggressive behaviours towards baby, even months after becoming a big sister or brother?

It’s normal mama! This week we are giving you a few more tools to deal with sibling rivalry.

If you haven’t listened to these episodes yet, we think these might be helpful, too!

Ep. 15 // Baby #2 on the way! How to help the transition for our little ones

Ep. 17 // Sibling struggles

Ep. 21 //  Encouraging our kid’s cooperation

Especially when they are so close in ages and stages this can be a big obstacle for many mothers.
You might think they are entering their terrible twos (we call them the terrific twos!) because they start hitting, biting, and scratching. These are all normal behaviours during the toddler years when they don’t have emotional control or much language yet.
As gentle, connected, positive parents that want to break the cycle we know there is a better way than just punishing or yelling.

In this episode, you will get

  1. How to minimize conflict with an older child and a new baby
  2. What to do if a toddler gets rough with baby
  3. The importance of pouring love into the older sibling

02 Dec 2022FAMILY FUN FRIDAYS: TIS' THE SEASON OF GIVING!00:10:46

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Tis' the season of giving!

So, this week we share a fun way to teach your kids the importance of giving while also making way for the new toys coming into the home during the holidays (be proactive before you add to the clutter mamas).

You can also model generosity and how beautiful random acts of kindness are by making some goodie bags for people as a family and paying it forward. You can hand them out on the street or place them in hiding spots a stranger might come across them like at the coffee shop. So many times we think we can only give when we have an abundance but it makes the world.

Drop some toys off at the shelter, or pack some healthy snack bags for those that are stuck outside this cold season, or hot depending on where you live. Get rid of jackets/coats/boots that no longer fit to keep someone else warm during this winter season. Let's teach our kids how good it feels to give even when we don't feel we have an abundance to give from.  It's usually the people with the least that give the most.

Happy holidays families, we hope you enjoy this activity with your littles, and please do not let it stress you out. It should be joyful. Remember to be patient parents!

06 Dec 202255. EMBRACING DIVERSITY WITH PARAM KAUR-KINGSTON CREATOR OF TRAVEL OUTSIDE THE BOX!00:41:55

Today we are excited to introduce you to our next guest on the podcast!

Param Kaur-Kingston is coming to us today from the United Kingdom. Born and raised in Ipswich, England, Param is the daughter of Indian parents.

Growing up in a Sihk family in Britain had its many challenges. Param, as a girl, had to beg to go on to get a higher education. Which she did and in university she studied and became a police officer. Working as a detective she saw that change comes in a society that is educated about differences.

As a young woman, Param married a man who is British caucasian and, although it took a while, her family eventually accepted her husband and welcomed him in.

Since becoming a mum, Param wants her children to feel proud of their dual heritage, to know that we are all different, and that diversity is something to be treasured.

Because of her varied experiences, and her own mixed heritage marriage and children, a beautiful creation has emerged: a multicultural subscription box program - Travel Outside the Box.

13 Dec 202256. “YOU BETTER BE GOOD, SANTA IS WATCHING!” WHY THREATS DON’T WORK AND WHAT YOU CAN SAY INSTEAD00:27:24

It can be so tempting to fall into this trap of threatening our kids to get them to behave or do something. We all say "Santa is watching or else you will be put on the nauhgty list."

I saw myself falling into this but knew I wanted to be a better parent. I knew threatening her is not what I want for our relationship, I didn't know why but I knew it couldn't healthy.

This week we share some more tools to add to your toolbelt to encourage our kid's cooperation and stop ourselves from reacting with an "empty threat."

This holiday season, with grace, let's practice teaching our kids what Christmas, Hanukkah, Solstice, Kwanzaa, or whatever you celebrate is about and not that the gifts they receive are based on their behavior.

16 Dec 2022FAMILY FUN FRIDAYS: CELEBRATING SOLSTICE-SONGS, STORY, AND A CRAFT TO CELEBRATE THE LIGHT00:12:57

This Wednesday, December 21st, 2022 marks winter solstice. We celebrate the "rebirth of the sun" on this day!

So we want to share with you some ways to enjoy this family fun Friday! We have a classic song, two book recommendations, and an activity your kids will love!

You can sing this song to encourage play, just sit and sing or sing as you do your activity! It's a fun song and I have also just actually understood it now that I've learned why we celebrate.
You will also find two book recommendations. Taking a trip to your local library with your littles is a fun adventure for them, and you can also save a few bucks! Cuddle up on the couch or in bed and get in some bonding time with a story!
Then, we have a fun craft that your littles will definitely enjoy. We have some links below if you wanted to order the supplies. Your kids can use this craft and place it wherever they would like in the house and I am sure it will leave them feeling proud of themselves!

So tune in and we hope you enjoy it!

We love what she is doing and encourage you to sign up for her subscription or create an open space for diversity at home with these activities!

  1. Why bedtime routines are important
  2. What a bedtime routine looks like
  3. How to implement it

Amma Lisa shares how long this should take, what's included in a bedtime routine, and some tips and tricks to make it go a little smoother. We wish you luck and send you a lot of patience mamas!

Lyrics
Hush, little baby don't you
Hush, little baby don't say a word
Mama's gonna buy you a mocking bird

And if that mocking bird don't sing
Mama's gonna buy you a diamond ring

And if that diamond ring is brass
Mama's gonna buy you a looking glass

And if that looking glass gets broke
Mama's gonna buy you a billy goat

And if that billy goat don't pull
Mama's gonna buy you a cart and bull

And if that cart and bull turn over
Mama's gonna buy you a dog called Rover

And if that dog called Rover don't bark
Mama's gonna buy you a horse and cart

And if that horse and cart turn round
You'll still be the sweetest little babe in town (be the sweetest litte babe)
Still be the sweetest little babe in town

27 Dec 202258. 3 SCREEN-FREE ACTIVITIES TO KEEP YOUR LITTLES ENTERTAINED00:35:38

How were your holidays?

If they were anything like mine, they were exhausting! Beautiful but exhausting so we want to give you mamas sometime to cooperate while your kids entertain themselves for a little. This too is helpful for our work-from-home moms just trying to get a little work in while their little ones can stay busy.

This week Amma Lisa shares why independent play is so beneficial to our little ones and how to set it up for success in our own homes!

Join this week's conversation and learn all the benefits our kids reap from practicing independent play and the different ways we can set it up for our kids.

Amma teaches us how to set up water play, sensory bins, and homemade playdough! So much fun!

Waterplay

-Sponge
-Soap
-Different size cups/plates
-Car wash
-Eye dropper
-Water toys

Sensory Bins
-Sand/Beans/Flour/Corn Starch/Cotton Balls/Snow
-Hide toys in it
-Magnet

Amma’s Favourite Play-dough Recipe

•2 Cups all-purpose flour

•3/4 Cups salt

•4 teaspoons Cream of Tartar

•2 Cups water

•2 Tablespoons vegetable oil

•Food colouring

•Quart-sized bags

In a large pot, stir together the flour, salt and cream of tartar.

Add oil to water in a measuring cup. Make a well in the middle of the dry ingredients and add the oil and water mixture to it, stirring it in.

Cook over medium heat -

** stirring constantly!**

Continue stirring with your wooden spoon until the dough thickens and begins to form into a ball.

Remove from the heat and spoon it out onto parchment paper on the countertop.

Allow it to cool slightly and then knead it until it’s smooth.

Divide the dough into as many balls as you’d like in different colours.

Add just a few (5-7) drops of food colouring to start and knead it into the still-warm dough. Add more drops to deepen the colour as desired, but knead between each addition as the colour will deepen as it merges into the dough with kneading.

Alternatively, if you are concerned about staining, you can put the dough balls into separate quart-sized freezer bags to add the colouring to each one in the bags. Then knead the dough IN the bag until the colour is fully merged.

There are also amazing colours you can make using natural ingredients like coffee, purple cabbage, matcha green tea powder and turmeric! But I recommend looking up recipes for these as there are some cautionary (potential mess!) details! But they’re fun and super cool, too, so I strongly recommend them. Just do a little research first for “natural play dough dyes.”

Store your awesome play-dough in the zip lock bags (or a container with a tight-fitting lid) in the fridge for up to 3 months.

Enjoy!

30 Dec 2022FAMILY FUN FRIDAYS: LOOKING BACK AT 2022 WITH SOME FAMILY PHOTO FUN!!00:10:24

Well, 2022 flew by. As we get older I think we start saying this at the end of every year!
Time flies, our babies grow up too fast, and we just keep getting older and older!

But each year brings us so many beautiful new memories! So before this year ends, we encourage you to reminisce through 2022 with your kids. Go through your pictures, print them out and create a photo album with your little ones and show them how they started the year off. Show them how tiny they were and how much they have grown, reminisce through all the trips you've taken or all their 'firsts.'  Enjoy and let's bring in the new year with our arms open wide to welcome all the new memories and laughs that it will bring us!

03 Jan 202359. 10 REASONS TO PRACTICE GRATITUDE AND HOW IT CAN CREATE A HAPPIER FAMILY00:22:45

Happy New Year!
Are you ready to bring in 2023 with open arms? We are, and we are excited to share this week's episode about practicing gratitude consistently this year and all the benefits you can reap from incorporating this into your family routine!

Amma has 10 advantages of practicing gratitude on a regular basis

  1. Fosters positive relationships and connection
  2. Decreases stress
  3. Increases sense of emotional well being
  4. Builds self-esteem
  5. Improves physical well being
  6. Lessens anxiety and depression
  7. Lowers aggressive tendencies
  8. Enhances empathy
  9. Improves sleep
  10. Increases ability to overcome adversity- builds resilience

Amma would journal 5 things every night when she was really struggling and noticed that maintaining this practice truly turned her emotional and physical health around! Mama Sareena writes down her top 3 every morning and is a much nicer wife when she is constantly journaling as well.

But do not forget you need to “feel it to heal it” as amma says. This is not to encourage toxic positivity but to build the ability to overcome adversity once it is acknowledged and felt.

Gratitude should be practiced at a consistent time of day depending on your family schedule and can be done in different ways.

Here are some examples:

  1. Gratitude walks
  2. Speaking gratitude (i.e. go around the table at breakfast or dinner time, calling someone when you receive a gift in the mail)
  3. Writing gratitude (i.e. gratitude journal, gratitude jar, gratitude tree, writing thank you cards and sending them in the mail)

This family fun Friday we will share some creative ways you can practice as a family!

13 Jan 2023FAMILY FUN FRIDAYS: GET THE WIGGLES OUT OF YOUR LITTLES WITH "IT'S A SMOOTH RODE TO LONDON TOWN" SONG00:12:05

Do you feel that during these colder months your child is constantly bouncing off the walls?

This may be due to the fact that they are stuck inside the house more often and aren't getting as much movement in during the day.

We can encourage to get those wiggles out with the activities we share with you this week!

This song is a fun way to get in some bonding time and connect emotionally and physically. This will encourage some laughs between you and will give your child some memories with you singing to them.

Song

-
A Smooth Rode to London Town
-Some similar interactive songs: This Is The Way The Ladies Ride & Trot Trot to Boston

Activity
Driving cars through paint and making tracks

-cars
-washable paint
-cookie tray
-roll of paper

You can also use clean up time to keep your kids entertained a while longer with taking the cars to the car wash! Let them have some soapy fun while they clean up the paint and their toys.

These activities can be very therapeutic for your kids as well which will help them maanage their emotions.

Reminder
We want to remind you about the importance of our kids getting in some motor activities. They need to move and get the energy out so if you can't get outside, amma shares an exciting out of the box activity. Make race car tracks around the house with painters tape! Let your kids drive up along the couches and on the side of the walls around the living room and into the kitchen! Get creativity and most importantly have fun!

10 Jan 202360. NO SUCH THING AS "BAD KIDS"00:25:12

Do you feel like your kid can be so bad? Do you get frustrated and tell them what a bad little boy they are for not listening?

You will easily learn through parenting that you cannot control everything! And sometimes that will make us look at our kids like they are bad people because they can be so difficult but we want to let you know that it is normal. You did not just get a bad apple, but it is in the process of learning and developing.

In this weeks conversation we want to help you understand
1.  Why toddlers act out
2. Misbehvaior can be a form of communication
3. Misbehavior is normal and leanring how to support them through their development
4. How to use nurturing parent ways to curb their behavior

Defiance, agression, and impulsivity come from immaturity in the pre-frontal cortex. This is why our littles are driven by emotion. The lack of development creates a lack of control and understanding.

This part of the brain begins to develop around the age of 3-4 years old when you will begin to see abilty to reason, more impulse control, understadning of good vs. bad, and reason to consequences.

Acting out is also sometimes a form of communication for toddlers. They do not have the ability to understand or express to us their feelings of hunger, tiredness, uncomfort and this will come out in unwanted behaviors.

We can support our littles through this stage by providing them with firm and consistent boundaries. If we treat them like this is normal and provide them with boundaries we will allow for healthy growth and development.

17 Jan 202361. SETTING YOUR LITTLES UP FOR SUCCESS AT HOME STARTING WITH SAFETY00:40:19

Following last week's episode "NO SUCH THING AS 'BAD KIDS'" we wanted to have a discussion about how we can set our littles up for success and allow them to be curious and explore safely!

What you will get out of today's episode
1. Why do you need to baby-proof your home?
2. The 3 reasons your child will benefit
3. How to baby-proof your home

We want to encourage our kids to explore without knocking their confidence and that starts by setting up their environment to allow them to explore freely. By doing this we help boost their confidence, expand their knowledge and understanding of cause and effect, allow them to crawl/walk/run freely encouraging movement, and give ourselves some peace of mind knowing our kids are safe!

20 Jan 2023FAMILY FUN FRIDAYS: INTERACTIVE SONGS FOR PARENTS WITH THEIR LITTLES & IMAGINARY PLAY00:10:04

Do you ever want to interact with your littles but don't really know how?

This happens to me sometimes as a mother, I see my daughter there playing but I want to interact and play with her while also having her attention on me so we can bond now that she is getting older. This is why I love it when we learn new interactive songs like  the one amma teaches us today. I can do it with my infant and toddler!

We get to sing and laugh together. It fills my cup as well as theirs.

We also have a fun inclusive book, Amma loves it because it depicts a character in a wheelchair just like amma! Just like amma, our littles like to see characters like them!

24 Jan 202362. HOW DO WE GET OUR LITTLES TO DO WHAT WE ASK OF THEM?00:36:26

If you think of your relationship with your child (and every other relationship in your life!) as a co-created Dance - the dance of communication - the exciting news is that if you want things to go a different way you can change your steps and create a new dance!

Listening & Cooperation are interlinked.

LISTENING:

  • Listen quietly and attentively. Give your undivided attention.

“Mama, I want you to listen with the eyes in front of your head!”

  • Gain attention with a gentle touch before attempting communication.

Teach your children this technique to get someone’s attention, too!

  • The fewer words the better!

“Whenever possible, use a sentence instead of a paragraph, a word instead of a sentence…”   ~ Dr Haim Ginott, Between Parent and Child

  • Observe your tone of voice. Our children respond to the emotions first, the words we say seep in later.
  • Say it once! Repeating ourselves is one of our parts of the not-working-so-well dance of communication with our littles. Listen in to see what to do instead! (Clue: it’s all right here ^^)

COOPERATION:

  • Creating daily routines can encourage your child’s cooperation. Children feel safe when their world is predictable. Some examples of how to create routines and charts to follow.
  • Use a timer! The timer is then “the boss,” not you, the (getting frustrated and nagging) parent!
  • An interesting convo about asking our children to say please and thank you.

How do they get their chores done when the kids are in front of screens?

  • Set parameters for screen /device time.
  • Chores first!
  • Some ideas of how to intervene into screen time with positive outcomes:

Move in and get involved in their world for a few moments before shifting into finishing screen time. It only takes a few minutes and can buy you time in the long run!

If they’re resistant, look at the basics - tired, hungry, overstimulated?

Be realistic about expectations.

Sometimes life is SO fast, with so much to do, patience is our friend!

  • Pre-paving, setting the stage for what comes next, can result in much less resistance.
  • Engage our children in age and stage-appropriate family-friendly jobs - hanging their own coats and towels up; putting their boots where boots go; helping clean up their spills…
  • Life happens TO our children. Our lives are SO busy.

Giving our littles some choices in what happens next in their world can help them feel empowered and like a worthy part of the family.

31 Jan 202363. STRUGGLING TO GET MY LITTLE IN THE CARSEAT! WHAT CAN I DO?00:24:54

Let me start by saying you are not alone mama! Also, it is entirely normal.

Imagine someone stuffing you into a little seat and then restraining you with these straps! It can be pretty frustrating for our little ones. So we wanted to share some ways to help our little ones adjust to this transition a little more smoothly.

Here is a reminder, our toddlers are learning that they are separate from us so they will fight and say no and want more control over their own autonomy. We can help them by giving them choices and feeling like they have more control over their own situation.

They are also not living a busy hectic life like we are so it is not fair to rush them. We can ease some of this tension just by merely preparing them with time. That means we need to be conscious of the time and allow them to transition.

Some things they can do on their own are:
1. grab a snack and drink they'd like to take on the ride (as long as it is safe)
2. decide what jacket or what they want to put on first
3. bring a toy or book (better yet have them in there already so that they know they can always play in the car)
4. allow them to strap themselves in or climb into their seat

REMEMBER RUSHING WILL NOT HELP (ALLOW TIME FOR A SMOOTH TRANSITION)

And our favorite change a mood, not a mind! We have some fun ways you can do that in this Family Fun Fridays episode that's coming up!

STAY TUNED!

07 Feb 202364. FIGHTING INFRONT OF THE KIDS? HOW WE ARE AFFECTING OUR LITTLES EVEN IF WE AREN'T YELLING00:44:28

Hey Mama!

Parents fighting in front or even “behind closed doors” is so normal. It is hard adjusting to the parent life and figuring out how to work as a team to balance out all the tasks. Or maybe there are some other issues you are dealing with but we want you to know you are not alone.

We also want to remind you that our little ones are sponges and are absorbing everything so if we can learn how to manage our emotions and effectively communicate we will be modeling important tools for our kids to learn.

In this episode we will discuss
1. How fighting in front or behind close doors is harmful to our littles
2. The two different kinds of conflicts( constructive vs. destructive)
3. What can we do to aim for constructive conflict

You’d be surprised to know that we WANT to model conflict because it is normal but we will show you the healthy ways to do this.

Here are some of the many effects destructive conflict has on our kids
-decreased self-esteem
-increased anxiety/anger
-behavioral problems
-emotionally reactive in all relationships
-increase in cortisol which causes inflammation and increased illnesses
-decrease in focus/learning difficulties

We didn’t realize parenting starts with healing ourselves. But now that we know better we can do better. So we encourage you to put these constructive forms of conflict into practice at home so that our kids don’t have to heal like we do.

21 Feb 202366. 10 REASONS WHY BRIBING OUR LITTLES IS PROBLEMATIC & HOW TO DO BETTER!00:32:00

When you are struggling with getting your kid to do what you want, are you quick to say "do it and you'll get a treat tonight?"

It seems so easy but we have learned that it is just  a temporary behavior bandaid.

In today's episode we discuss

  1. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BRIBERY & REWARDS
  2. 10 REASONS THEY DON'T WORK
  3. HOW TO DO IT DIFFERENTLY

After learning the negative effects that bribes have on our kids we hope you are tempted to sway away from using this. It will only do a disservice to your little ones in their future.

Rewards should be natural or be planned ahead. Not used in the heat of them moment, that is when they become bribes.

Things such as basic human hygiene and health are vital and do not need to be rewarded. Please remember once the reward is removed the behavior usually is as well.

Bribes decrease our littles motivation and enthusiasm. It also robs them of the good feelings we get just from doing good deeds. Which will also lead to bratty behaviors. Nobody wants a bratty child!

Hopefully, your #1 takeaway is before that bribe slips out, just ZIP IT!

28 Feb 202367. A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO HEALTHY EATING HABITS FOR OUR LITTLES00:29:45

Following last week's episode, we wanted to discuss in depth the negative effects sweets have on our kids. This is coming from our conversation on bribes and how we tend to bribe with sweets.

So, in today's-conversation, we will cover

  1. Why not to bribe with sweets
  2. Why it is important not to force meals
  3. How to have a positive food association

It is important to remember when we use sweets as a bribe it overshadows the importance of instilling positive behaviors and/or their meal depending on what you are using the brbibe for.

The reward becomes the most important part and for our children, they don't even acknowledge why they are being bribed. All they see is the reward. This may have the opposite effect of why we are even bribing from the beginning.

Using sweets as bribes can also cause an unhealthy association/relationship with food. Can you think of an unhealthy habit you might have with food? It can look like not wanting to eat, emotional eating, for mama sareena it was being forced to "finish your plate." This in the long run has made her not pay attention to her own body telling her she is full and forcefully trying to eat.

Today you will hopefully find some tools how to create healthy eating habits for your littles!

07 Mar 202368. TIME TO RECOGNIZE OUR STRENGTH AS MOTHERS AND CELEBRATE US THIS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY00:26:21

Tomorrow is international women's day so in honor of you mamas, we chose 8 quotes that resonated with us and wanted to have a light conversation around how we can relate as women and mothers.

The strength we have as women is so beautiful and unique. It is too easy to be dismissed in a patriarchal society so here are some reminders of how strong we really are.

The color for Womens month is purple, so if you want to represent dig out all your purple clothes for this month!

We want to remind you also that as women we need to support one another. Let's get rid of looking at each other as competition when we can be so much stronger once we start supporting and loving other women as if they were our own.

Becoming a mother brings out another level of strength that we must instill in our daughters as well to break the old ways of looking at females. We get labeled as sensitive and emotional as if it is our weakness. In reality that is our strength so let's use it and stand up!

14 Mar 202369. STICK TO YOUR NO!!! HOW TO KEEP CONSISTENT BOUNDARIES00:38:33

Do you give in sometimes just to avoid a tantrum?

We've all been there. It can be exhausting and sometimes we don't have the energy to get into a battlefield with our littles. But we want to remind you of the importance and all the benefits of keeping consistent boundaries.

In this week's episode we will discuss:

  1. WHY HAVE CONSISTENT BOUNDARIES?
  2. WHAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN WE DO NOT STICK TO OUR “NO”
  3. HOW TO STAY STRONG IN OUR NO, TO CREATE BOUNDARIES THAT SUPPORT OUR CHILD’S BEST INTERESTS AND DEVELOPMENT

It can make our job as parents easier and allow our littles to flourish. Creating clear and consistent boundaries improves our kid's self-esteem and decreases their anxiety.

We may have been raised with parents who said "because I said no" and that was the end of that conversation....

The problem with not having clear boundaries is that our kids will give us more pushback, they will be confused and constantly question what they should be doing because of a lack of consistency which induces anxiety that will come out in crying, yelling, and full-blown tantrums.

Boundaries are as simple as sitting at the table during dinner time, drawing on paper, not walls, or no sweets before dinner. These small things set our littles up for success if we remain consistent with them.

BUT you do not have to be too rigid. Allow for wiggle space as sometimes you can enjoy a sweet on a hot summer day. This makes it extra fun for you and your littles!

The goal is to make this journey more enjoyable so we want to remind you that with some extra work, it is possible!

21 Mar 202370. FEELING BURNT OUT FROM TRYING TO ENTERTAIN THE KIDS ALL DAY? LIFE HACK:GET OUTSIDE!00:35:20

Happy Spring Mamas!

Do you love springtime as much as us? Maybe you don't or maybe you haven't even noticed how beautiful it could be.

We get so busy maintaining our homes, feeding our kids, and doing all the chores. Maybe you are working and rushing home to get dinner ready and start bedtime. If that's the case we want to remind you about the beauty that is waiting for us outside!

In this week's episode, we are giving you

1. Some motivation to get outdoors!
2. The benefits that we as parents and our kids reap when we do get outside
3. Some tips and what it looks like to follow our kid's lead and get excited about nature

It is as easy as making a 20-minute walk a priority. If you could do this you will notice a change in your mood and health. You will become happier, build your immune system, and form a closer bond with your kids. Get excited over the small things and build an admiration for the beauty our earth has to offer us!

This is great to model for our kids who are the future stewards of this earth!

You don't have to stress about entertaining your kids all day, just get into nature. If your kids are bouncing off the walls, take the walls down!

There is so much learning that could be done outside and we hope that you take a step towards getting outdoors more and away from screens.

04 Apr 202372. THE 3 MISTAKES I'VE BEEN MAKING AS A MOTHER-PART 100:33:48

In todays episode Mama Sareena brings to the table 3 things she noticed that have been causing anxiety and stress in her motherhood journey.

These three "mistakes" are

  1. Wanting to control everything
  2. Losing my cool with my littles
  3. Not prepping my days

They say the first step is noticing! So what's next?

Well, Amma Lisa will shed some light on how these "mistakes" are effecting our littles. It has been divided into two parts!

So in this week's episode we will dig into why we might be so controlling, the effects it has on our littles in their future, and what we can do instead.

We can only do as good as we know, learning from mama's mistakes and mamas wisdom will allow us to see the bigger picture and help us improve our parenting skills!

Also, they aren't really mistakes, just lessons we can all learn from. Parenting is not easy and it is a good reminder to stop the mom guilt. We will mess up but along as we try the best we can we can be confident that our kids will be fine if not great!

11 Apr 202373. THE 3 MISTAKES I'VE BEEN MAKING AS A MOTHER-PART 2 !00:24:22

In todays episode, Mama Sareena brings to the table the next 2 things she noticed that have been causing anxiety and stress in her motherhood journey.

These two "mistakes" are

  1. Losing my cool with my littles
  2. Not prepping my days

Amma Lisa will shed some more knowledge on how these "mistakes" are effecting our littles.

If we notice we are "losing our cool " with our little and we want to change that, we can start with aiming to catch ourself BEFORE we lost it!

Remember less reactive parents, have less reactive kids!

Then always being prepared! You should always have snacks and water on hand. Keeping our kids well nourished and rested is TOP PRIORITY & working our schedule around that...

Children THRIVE with regularity and patterns .

Keeping a consistent schedule or "flow" to the day will help children and parents know what to expect. This will allow for smoother transitions and although It takes work, it is well worth the work!

25 Apr 202375. STOP LETTING YOUR PHONES STEAL WHAT MATTERS MOST00:29:32

Are you addicted to your phone?

or are you reluctant to admit that you are addicted?

Because it's okay! That's their goal and as we can tell they are good at it! This addiction is so strong that it is putting our children's development at risk.

Child development is relational and when we are distracted most of the time we are robbing our kids of their growth.

This has also led to continuous partial attention which is really robbing us and our littles of enjoying their childhood and forming a strong bond and connection.

If you haven't tried a social media cleanse i'd like to encourage you to try, if not please consider one of amma lisas other tricks such as

  • using an alarm clock
  • using a wristwatch
  • signing onto social media only at the computer
  • no phones in bed
  • screen-free mealtimes

We know it's hard but please consider. We'd also love to hear what you think about this topic! thanks for tuning in!

That is how I felt until we found Aileen Dunbar from connected slumber! I didn't know there were gentler forms of achieving bedtime goals that best support kids and their parents.

Sleep brought up a lot of shame and guilt because I felt like the only one co-sleeping and creating "bad sleeping habits" for my littles.

Thankfully Aileen joins us to inform us on how beneficial supporting our little's sleep can be in the long run.

09 May 202377. CONSEQUENCES VS. PUNISHMENTS00:36:55

"If you don't clean up your toys, I am turning off the tv!"

Or "When we get everything cleaned up we will have more time to read your favorite story!"

These are some examples of consequences and punishments.
You can see a difference in

  • tone
  • how it can create separation
  • and they don't relate.

What does the toys have to do with the t.v? (remember is it age and stage appropriate)

The second example shows how to use "when" to allow for opportunity. Your child will be allowed to make amends which will be so empowering for them!

Tune in and learn how allowing for natural consequences will allow you to support your kids better than enforcing punishments.

Some of the tips are

  • prepaving

11 Jul 202386. CHILDREN'S WATER SAFETY | BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY00:27:49

Did you know that 3 children a day die in the U.S. from drowning?

In this week's episode, we wanted to spread some information about water safety in hopes to help parents be more aware of how easily accidents can happen around water.

We want to remind you

  1. Bring everything to the bathroom when its bath time
  2. If you have to leave the room, take your baby
  3. Always be in arm's reach around water; even when using "safety jackets"
  4. Do NOT depend on floaties/water wings
  5. Make sure another adult is watching if you need to step away for a minute and use a signal so you know that they know they are in charge
  6. At the beach or pool,  use headcounts to keep track of multiple kids and continuously check

Always better to be SAFE than SORRY

The highest cause of death in children is accidents around the house. Drowning included. It can take as little as 2 inches of water to drown a baby.

18 Jul 202387. DON'T RUSH TO FIX IT! 5 EASY WAYS TO ENCOURAGE INDEPENDENCE FOR YOUR LITTLES00:37:33

Welcome to the Nurturing Parent, in today's episode, we examine the negative effects of overparenting or rushing in to fix everything on our kids. One of the most important things to look at is how we can be robbing them of opportunities to learn and grow.

Overparenting, also known as helicopter parenting, refers to excessive involvement and control by parents in every aspect of their child's life. You might not think this is you but let's be open to accepting that there are some things we can change to enhance these opportunities for our kids.

Amma Lisa gives us 5 ways we can start encouraging our kid's independence today!

Reminder "Anything that a child is able to do for themselves or is learning to do for themselves needs to be ENCOURAGED & SUPPORTED"

25 Jul 202388. NAVIGATING DIFFICULT BEHAVIOR WHEN BIG CHANGES ARE HAPPENING AT HOME I.E. DIVORCE, DEATH, NEW HOME, STARTING DAYCARE- LISTENER Q&A #300:41:45

Is your child going through any big changes?
i.e. separation/divorce, death in the family, new sibling, starting daycare/school

These changes can cause big upsets in our littles world and will come out in bursts of unwanted behaviors. How do we best combat this?

Well, if we look at the whole picture amma will give us some preventative measures to assist with the de-escalation of some behaviors.

1. Regression is normal
2. Stick to your normal routines-provides safety & security
3.  Read books about similar big changes in their world and sing them songs
4. Speak to them about the changes and acknowledge their feelings
5. Move their bodies- dance parties, get outside

Playfulness is a kid's language, so when trying to connect FIND WAYS TO LAUGH TOGETHER!

01 Aug 202389. #1 READINESS TOOL TO PREPARE YOUR LITTLE FOR SCHOOL; OPEN-ENDED PLAY WITH MELISSA OHLMAN-ROBERGE00:48:36

Before creativity, there has to be curiosity. Open-ended play fosters curiosity in kids.

For it to be open-ended play these must apply
- no specific goal in mind
-allow your kids to lead the way

Some ways we can do this as mentioned in the episode are just to fill some bins with paper, glue, and scissors.

Tip: to help them get into it first show that you are into it and that it is important remembering to let them take the lead and if they ask you what you are doing just talk about the experience of it.

Open-ended play are ing words i.e. building, digging, drawing, painting, sorting, investigating, gluing, pasting.

Some fun episodes we have coming out in the next two weeks are about being bored and the BENEFITS as well as the benefits of getting down and dirty!

08 Aug 202390. "MOM, I'M BORED!" GIVING OVERSTIMULATED KIDS THE GIFT OF BOREDOM00:31:25

Does letting your kids get bored bring up some anxieties for you? Maybe you suffer from mom guilt because you wish you could give them your attention 24/7. We are here to relieve you from this and let you know how amazing boredom can be for our kids!

We are living in an on-demand society where we have little to no patience and are constantly looking for a hit of dopamine.

Who wants to leave space for boredom when we have TikTok, Instagram reels, youtube shorts, kid's youtube, ipads, iPhones. Well, hopefully after tuning in to today's episode you will find the advantages of boredom are crucial to our kid's brain health and development.

Some of my favorite benefits of "boredom" are:

  • Chance to daydream a.k.a. wool-gathering (love that word)
  • time for reflection and instilling altruism
  • builds tolerance for discomfort (learning to step out of their comfort zone increases their growth and success)
  • fosters independent play and thinking

Boredom is crucial for brain health and development so we hope this serves as a reminder to take a deep breathe, leave time for nothing, and try doing less as a family.

I cannot imagine being bored... I wish I could feel boredom. Let our kids enjoy that gift while they can! 😩

15 Aug 202391. BENEFITS OF ALLOWING YOUR KIDS TO BE MESSY & GET DIRTY A.K.A. LETTING THEM BE KIDS!00:31:40

Do you ever catch yourself cringing when you see your little one making a mess or getting dirty?

I do... Messy and sensory play is so beneficial for our littles but if I'm honest setting up sensory play seems overwhelming and I hate cleaning up!

But after this week's conversation with Amma, I was actually very excited to set up messy play opportunities and let my kids go out and get dirty.

Some simple and easy messy play ideas are

-water play

-sensory bins (with dirt)

-painting

Ways I implemented our conversation into my weekend

Saturday I let them dig in the dirt! I just gave them 2 little shovels and a space where they can dig to look for worms as I did some work in the backyard picking weeds. I invited them to help but they weren't interested... then we all showered after because they REALLY got dirty!

And Sunday while I folded laundry I set up a sensory bin with rice and hid little figurines inside. Both my girls age 3 &1 had so much fun discovering what was inside and then transferring the rice from container to container.

I had to take a deep breath when by the end of it, it was literally EVERYWHERE. But we cleaned it up together and everything was fine!

We had lots of fun, they were busy for about an hour with both activities, and I was able to get some things done!

Below are some photos of how it turned out. Ellie's face with actual dirt is just priceless and this rice which spread very far was cleaned up within 7-8 minutes as a team!

We hope you enjoy this week's episode mamas ❤️
