House of Pain was an American hip-hop trio who released three albums in the 1990s before lead rapper Everlast left to pursue a solo career. The group's name is a reference to the H. G. Wells novel The Island of Dr. Moreau, a reference carried further by the naming of their 2011 tour He Who Breaks the Law.

Founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 1968 (from the ashes of Pärson Sound ) - Disbanded in 1972 This band is the second incarnation of the Swedish late 60's psychedelic musical collective, which started as PÄRSON SOUND, and which eventually evolved as TRÄD, GRÄS OCH STENAR, inspired by the American minimalist composer TERRY RILEY among spontaneous underground rock movement aesthetics. The name change was innovated by Bo Ander PERSSON, and it was taken from a name of American company producing agricultural machines. In year 1968 they released the album "Sov Gott Rose-Marie", which was published by the Finnish record label Love Records. This album combined psychedelic rock, folk elements, jazzy improvisations, political statements and natural soundscapes, creating a record fitting logically to the maturing of the group's musical vision. Before the band evolved as to TRÄD, GRÄS OCH STENAR they yet released album "Hemat" with a shortened band name HARVESTER. The spontaneous music of this group was really ahead of their time, and anybody interested of early chaotic krautrock should check out their records, which have now been re-released as vinyls and CD's featuring interesting long jams as bonus tracks.

One of the greatest debuts in heavy-metal history turns 40. Blizzard of Oz was released 20th of September 1980 and it was produced / recorded in England.

Founded in 1967, Les Rallizes Denudes is a japanese musical collective entirely devoted to noisy freaked out improvisations for fuzzy reverbed guitars and buzzing cloudy ambiences. Formed by nihilist left wing students at Kyoto University, the band released their first live show in 1968 (some extracts will be published later under the name 67-69 Studio & Live). Les rallizes denudes exclusively made a reputation on stage and most of their materials haven't been released until the beginning of the 90's. The band decide to publish on CD and in limited number some of their old materials. The albums published during this period consist of poor sounding, anarchic, traumatic psyhedelic assaults taken from various late 60's / 70's gigs. Oz Days live (2XLP, 1973) is considered to be among the trippiest and most incredible documents from 70's japanese musical underground. This album includes the uncontrolled psych improvisations of Les Rallizes Denudes and the neo-shamanic trancey drones of Taj Mahal Travellers. '77 Live can also be considered as a representative document, revealing all the blasting, propulsive energy of the band at their legendary live shows. Les Rallizes Denudes is a major inspiration to Acid Mothers Temple and Keiji Haino.

KHAN's bio reads like a who's who of former and future celebs from EGG, GONG, HATFIELD AND THE NORTH and NATIONAL HEALTH. The initial line-up of this early 70's Canterbury outfit consisted of keyboard player Dave Stewart, guitarist Steve HILLAGE, bassist Nick Greenwood and drummer Pip PYLE. Before recording their one and only album, Pyle moved on to GONG and was replaced by Eric Peachy (ex-DR. K's BLUES BAND). The group disbanded after the release of the album in 1972. "Space Shanty" is made up of six ambitious tracks composed almost entirely by Hillage. All four musicians are in fine form but the album is particularly dominated by Hillage's spacey/bluesy guitar and Stewart's effervescent Hammond play. Although much of the material is based on a repetitive verse/chorus/verse cycle and has recurrent musical themes, the band frequently breaks out into extended instrumental freak outs, either soloing or engaging in formidable guitar/organ interplay. This album is a fine sample of early Canterbury/bluesy space rock.

Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter Chris Spedding has been a mainstay of the British session scene since the late 60s, playing with just about everyone from Nucleus, Jack Bruce, John Cale, Elton John, Mike Batt, to Paul McCartney & The Bay City Rollers (anonymously!).
In 1975 Spedding had a hit record called "Motorbikin'".
In the late 70s he moved to the States and worked with Robert Gordon, Jerry Harrison, Dick Rivers and Johnny Hallyday.
Since 2001, Spedding has been playing live with Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry, The War Of The World and R.Gordon / D.Rivers, Herbie Flowers, Charlotte Glasson among others.
In 2011, put out solo album "Pearls" and formed a legendary band called King Mob with Steve Parsons, Sixteen, Glen Matlock and Martin Chamnbers, but was short-lived unfortunately.
In 2015, he released his 13th original studio album "Joyland". On 29th June 2018, he had the 50th Anniversary Concert in London and this show came out.
Still he is playing with Bryan Ferry, Robert Gordon and The War Of The World worldwide.

But this time Toubabou is alone but the African rythms and inspirations remains, but they show that they are well assimilated by avoiding to sound fakely authenticly African. ASH RA TEMPEL's 1st album is a classic in the genre of Space Rock led by guitarist Manuel Gottsching and a very young Klaus Schulze (percussion and electronics).

The MUFFINS are Canterbury influenced quartet founded by Dave NEWHOUSE (keyboards, reeds), Billy SWAN (bass) and Michael ZENTNER (guitar, violin). The new group remains nameless until one day, while the trio are discussing upon potential names, a friend of there's enters the house and shouts "The muffins are here!" and conveying a tray of blueberry muffins, thus the band is born! A number of drummers are recruited off and on during the next few months. In the fall of 1974, reediest, Tom Scot joins The MUFFINS, moves in with band, starts to rehearse and Dave starts to compose new material. In the fall of 1975, drummer Stewart Abramowitz joins and the band starts recording demos in the studio and at home that would end up on the album released under Cuneiform label: "Chronometers". In the summer of 1976 after a few gigs, Michael and Stewart leave the band, leaving the group to become a trio. While they are a trio, they tour as in improvising group. In the fall of 1976, they met drummer Paul Sears at a gig. Paul was satisfied of what he heard and joined immediately, thus the setting of The MUFFINS popular era.

The band Sandoz, a subterranean sensory assault, capture the prevailing consciousness as eloquently as any, also managing to draw a wry smile and the wink of an eye from the day-glo patchouli-scented corpse of the sixties as it is finally whisked off on an icy cosmic breeze... Named after the Swiss laboratories where LSD was first synthesized by Dr. Albert Hoffman, Sandoz barely surfaced for air, their only official appearance being a Sunday afternoon Greasy Truckers' bash at Group 64 in Putney. They were essentially rehearsal hermits, experimenting with, and whisking up, all manner of esoteric psychedelic ingredients into a dark mind-bending electric miasma of their own. Guruh Gipsy is a 1976 Indonesian studio album released by Guruh Sukarnoputra in collaboration with the band Gipsy, consisting of Keenan Nasution, Chrisye, Roni Harahap, and Oding Nasution.

The band had been formed in August 1968 by drummer Mani Neumeier and developed into one of Germany's most colourful rock acts. To start off with, Guru Guru sounded much more rhythmically diverse than other German acts, tried different grooves and alternative music styles and were considered by the press as the German equivalent to British rock acts such as Cream. At the same time, international icons were totally alien to Guru Guru, the musicians drawing their inspiration from their seemingly limitless imagination and a healthy portion of stubbornness.
While the group saw themselves as an active part of the student movement, they had a whole different musical approach compared to the political rock bands of the early seventies, while their lifestyle featured the typical flair of an idyllic commune: musicians, their girl-friends, friends and roadies living together on an old farm in the Odenwald region. Drummer Neumeier was undisputedly the most important power behind Guru Guru; not only their music centred on him, he also developed the so-called Mani-Tom, an inflatable drum which allows the player to raise the pitch by blowing air into the tom. The group produced their debut album, UFO, in June 1970, which - according to the liner notes - was intended to prepare its listeners for the impending landing of extraterrestrials. Hinten, another album featuring improvised tracks, followed one year later.
Känguru saw the trio consisting of Mani Neumeier, Uli Trepte and Ax Genrich change their concept successively. Together with sound engineer Conny Plank, they ensconced themselves in the studio between February 28 and March 6 1972 and produced an album which presented musicians who had inspired each other during the recording. 'We tried a kind of triangular system,' Neumeier explains, 'one of us came up with an idea, the other two picked up on it and tried variations on their instruments.' The result consisted of four long but clearly structured songs, among them the classic, 'Ooga Booga' , from then on an integral part of the band's live repertoire. Guitarist Ax Genrich allowed himself to be influenced mainly by Jimi Hendrix. 'Every time I think I ve discovered something new, I notice that Jimi Hendrix came up with it long before me on Electric Ladyland,' he confessed, adding: 'He's my most important inspiration.'

Winter Songs is the second album by English avant-rock group Art Bears. It was recorded at Sunrise Studio in Kirchberg, Switzerland between 22 November and 5 December 1978, and was released in 1979. It was Art Bears' first album to be recorded on their own, the bulk of their first album, Hopes and Fears (1978) having been recorded as Henry Cow.
