On today's episode, we were blessed to have the one and only Jody Moore back on the show!

Jody’s immense success in her career as life coach never seems to get to her head. She is one of the most down to earth, amazing human beings I have had the honor of meeting. We talk all things fear, coping, emotional eating and more!

Jody is a mother of 4 and a woman trying to figure out how to minimize resentment, overwhelm and guilt, and replace them with happiness, gratitude and joy.

Three years after getting married she found herself with two kids under age 2, a loving husband, and a lot of self-loathing. She struggled with the duties associated with being a mom and wife and then she felt guilty for feeling that way. After all, this was the life she thought she always wanted.

She has a BA in Communications and an MA in Adult Education along with 15 years of experience as a Corporate Trainer and Leadership Coach, but what has helped her the most to overcome her struggles and to conquer all of her goals, are the tools she use’s now to coach her clients. Thanks to her extensive training with Brooke Castillo of The Life Coach School, she is a Certified Life Coach, and she couldn’t be more proud of the work she get’s to do in the world.

I was joined by my friend Sean McDevitt aka The Fitness Shaman. We discussed everything from meditation , to mindset to 5 ways to get a mental detox.

 

Here is Sean's Bio - 

Born and raised in Los Angeles, I've called Austin home since my junior year of high school. I moved to the capitol of Texas to swim competitively for what was at the time the best club swimming team in the country, so you could say fitness was a priority of mine from an early age! I was recruited by the University of Georgia Men's Swimming Team, where I swam under the tutelage of multi-Olympiad swim coaches, as well as strength and conditioning coaches who would later go on to win Women's National Basketball Championships at Baylor University. I soaked up as much knowledge about strength, conditioning, and fitness in general as I could during my time at Georgia (swimming pun intended).
 
Post-college I still found myself gravitating towards helping people improve their fitness in my spare time. Health and fitness had become so ingrained in my life that I was fortunate enough to notice a woman in the gym doing exercises I wasn't familiar with, and of course asked her about those exercises (when she was done with her workout, of course!). That woman was Dala.
 
In 2016 Dala started a fitness Instagram to share her fitness transformation with others and I got a front row seat as she built a following and eventually online personal training, dubbed #DLDNation by her budding community. In 2018, #DLDNation had grown so much, we realized that to help as many people become healthy and fit as possible, we'd have to team up. We quit our day jobs to do just that.

On today’s episode we were blessed to sit down with former NFL Athlete, Robert Johnson

Also known as “Ro-Jo”, he was a star safety at the University of Utah. He left the inner city for the first time ever in his life to come to Utah, a place he had actually never heard of. Ro-Jo went on to be not only the first individual in his family to go to college, but the first one to graduate. His road to get there was not an easy deal.

We talked about the value in just doing the next right thing, because you never know who is watching. We talked the perseverance  to never back down, no matter the odds. Everything from the lessons he learned from playing with Pro Bowl NFL players, to being the Sugar Bowl Champions in 2008, to now being a dad and working man.

I think so often as people go through their life thinking they will always just be an athlete, never really looking at what’s next. The defining process that so many have to do after it all ends, is a topic we discussed that I think so many of you will be able to resonate with.

Her story was so impactful it brought me and Michelle to raw emotion. She talked about learning to be vulnerable and real in a world that often times, has turned very fake.

Her honesty on this episode about getting to a place of self love with her body, no matter how ripped she is or not, is a message that literally everyone needs to hear.

Chelsea is an NGA pro bikini competitor and she talked about how that is not really the route she wants to follow in her life anymore and some very real, and honest reasons as to why.

Amber Brueseke started the Instagram name Biceps After Babies with no intentions of monetizing it. She started it to show other women you can indeed get biceps after babies! She truly wanted to create impact and provide value. What grew from it is something she honestly did not expect. She self taught herself how to track macros and through that, began helping other people transform their bodies through macros! We talked about what freedom she has found through macros and the balance it has created in her life. Amber also talked about her journey of bulking for a whole year, eating 300 carbs a day. I am a certified Emotion Code practitioner who has found passion and purpose in helping those who are suffering from trauma and emotional baggage. It is my desire to help those who are looking to develop into the best and purest versions of themselves.

I have always had an interest in human behavior and how individual experiences impact the way people show up and react in certain situations.  Throughout my life I have always been an observer. Friends and family have identified me as an understanding listener that can bring clarity and calmness to difficult situations.  I am able to easily identify people’s motives and actions without judgement or criticism.

My mother-in-law presented me with the Emotion Code. She had attended several of Bradley Nelson’s seminars and shared the practices with me and my children.  Whenever she did work with my family, the heaviness of burdens was lifted and we experienced feelings of peace.  In April 2019, I was able to attend one of Bradley’s seminars to learn how to perform the healing modalities of the Emotion Code/Body Code.  Combining this education with my natural ability to understand and care for others has led me to pursue a purpose of helping as many people as I can move past life blocks and challenges.”

24 Apr 2020KNP138 - A Deeper Look Into CBD With Brooke Alpert00:50:42

On today’s episode we had Brooke Alpert on the show. Brooke is a dietitian and has had a private practice in NYC for the last 15 years. Her husband suffers from autoimmune peripheral neuropathy and after she exhausted every diet under the sun with him (Hello Wahls Protocol and more!) he asked for her to step down as his doctor and just be his wife.

Around this time Brooke started hearing about CBD and heard how it could be effective for pain management - since he's "cannabis friendly" which is a polite way of saying pothead, he was up for trying it. 

Long story short - he had incredible improvements on CBD so she started researching more. When she saw the connection with CBD and anxiety, she brought it into her practice for some of her emotional eaters and saw a big improvement with them as well. She ended up hitting the books and spent 6 months studying and researching cannabis and became a certified holistic cannabis practitioner.

On today's podcast, we had IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Antoine Vaillant. We share a connection in the recovery/sobriety community and are extremely grateful for his time. As a kid, he had this feeling inside himself that he was not good enough. Fear. Fear of not being good enough. He wanted to be better, to be stronger. The only thing he could control was that. To get bigger and stronger. He started doing push ups and sit ups at a young age, and felt like he could control those results by putting the effort in. He kept doing it, and doing it...

Then he saw the bodybuilding magazines. 2003 Mr. Olympia reviews - he was amazed by the physiques of these Olympians. He researched on the internet using an old PC with a dial up connection. He found the bodybuilding message boards, and learned and learned.

He decided to compete in bodybuilding. It was 2004 and he did not even train in a gym before. Just one dumbbell in his bedroom. He joined the gym and told the owner he wanted to compete. A year later, he competed at 16 and won his class. He kept going. 

Fast track to 2012, He won my IFBB pro card at the Canadian Nationals. Coming out of a bad relationship, and victorious, he decided it was time to party and celebrate. He chose the wrong people and the wrong things to celebrate with. Drugs, alcohol and bad influences. This is when his drug addiction began. Needless to say, he hit many rock bottoms and lost everything more than once. He ended up homeless, in the streets and on welfare. It took him near death experiences and many rehabs to get out of it.

He came out of my last rehab in 2017. He was driven with nothing but hope, he started training for his come back. He wanted to come back on stage and prove to myself and the world that it wasn't over for him. He teamed up with Dorian Hamilton and Team HD, moved to Burlington Ontario and put in the work. He learned to live like a champion again, but this time around, to the MAX. His comeback show was the 2018 Toronto pro show and he ended up placing 4th. The comeback was real. He was proud of myself... Then he got back to work!

The goal is now the Olympia stage for Antoine.

His story will not only inspire you, but show you we all struggle with demons and overcoming those is a very real thing.
