16 Aug 2023 | #01 Let's Talk Breastfeeding | 00:38:23
No one really talks about breastfeeding, but if they did would that make things easier for parents? Is our reluctance to talk about the realities of nursing our babies actually HARMING our chances of meeting our breastfeeding goals? And should we be clued up on cluster feeding BEFORE our babies are even born? In this first episode of The Next Feed we kick things off with mums Kate and Faye. They stopped breastfeeding a few years ago, but they tell us how much they remember about cracked nipples and expressing breastmilk around the clock. 19 Apr 2024 | #12 The Breastfeeding Video That Shouldn’t Have Been Made | 00:16:36
Did you see the 'icky' breastfeeding video on social media last week? It was uploaded to instagram by one of Britain’s biggest parenting websites. In it they asked people on the street "when should a mum stop breastfeeding their child?" Responses included that mothers should breastfeed for "no longer than 6 months [as] it get's a bit on the icky side", and "as soon as they have teeth". Comments underneath the video showed many were upset that it had been posted. The social media account then deleted the video and issued an apology on their Instagram Stories. In this episode we hear from YOU about why that question, and the responses used in the video (which were all negative towards breastfeeding), are doing no favours to support parents who want to breastfeed.
