25 Sep 2019 | Episode 6: Roger Wright | 00:38:16
So peeps let me introduce to the the man that is Roger Wright (LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/roger-wright-7bb40126) Roger Wright is a packaging technologist with over 20 years’ experience designing out waste and designing in, solutions that work. Roger’s inspired by a future where the ‘activity’ of packaging is understood more holistically and can evolve within the context of an effective circular economy. He also believes that when packaging is integral to building a successful brand, costing only a tenth of the goods it protects and promotes but with a net positive impact on the world, we should all “Love the Last 10%!”. Roger and I spent a fair bit of time together and I feel I learnt so much from the conversation. And as if the conversation wasn’t enough he also joined me for the final 10 mile run of the day and an ice bath workshop with the Artur Pailins and Martin Petrus from the Nice collective. Anyway enough waffle - I hope you enjoy the sustainability chat. 15 Jul 2024 | From Grass to Greens: Pesticides, Produce and Playgrounds - A conversation with Jess Abbis | 01:39:21
Get ready to be inspired, educated, mortified, but motivated to take action. Whether you're a farmer, an environmental enthusiast, or you simply love food and care about this planet we call home, this episode is for you. In this episode of The NatLifePod I’m with the lovely Jess Abbis who’s mission is to unite, inspire and accelerate the movement towards regeneration as a means to restore soil, human, and planetary health. Having listened to the needs of the UK regenerative movement, Jess and her cofounders transitioned from Farmers Footprint UK and are now working under the name of the foundational programme, 'The Nest', a non-profit creative agency in service and support of agro ecological producers to sell and market their products to local, regional consumers. Jess shares her experience and insights on sustainable farming, organic farming vs regenerative practices, and the importance of reconnecting with community. We discuss how creating direct relationships between our local farmers and us consumers can foster a sense of community, promote transparency in the food system, help protect the environment, promote biodiversity, ensure food security, and create more resilient and prosperous communities for present and future generations. 18 Sep 2019 | Episode 4: Micheal Thornton | 00:30:11
I had the pleasure of getting behind the mic with the man with the sustainability plan; Michael Thornton. Michael Thornton is an engineer, entreprenuer and the founder of Carbon Analytics. After close to a decade working on sustainable water, power and projects around the world as a civil engineer, Michael accepted a scholarship for an MBA in social entrepreneurship at Oxford University with a question in mind? How do we transform our global economy to understand and value the natural world it depends on? And how do we do it without relying on government? Carbon Analytics, his company that automates carbon footprinting for businesses and supply chains is the result of that question. Michael and I continue the conversation away from the mic’s as we go for a 10 mile run to finish my 30 for the day and ever since I have been spreading his carbon analytics message to my brothers and sisters. 02 Jul 2024 | Soil & Soul the infinite Connection - A conversation with Zach Bush | 01:58:26
In this episode, Zach Bush graces the mic with his unique perspective and expertise. and shares his profound insights into the interconnectedness of human health and the environment. I am a big fan of Zach’s work and on the few occasions that we have met I have been blown away by this man’s mind. Zach’s fascinating insights and mind-blowing revelations often lead me down such deep hyper focus rabbit holes, especially when he starts to speak from a spiritual and philosophical place about nature, consciousness and interconnectedness. So Prepare for a perspective shift as we delve into the fascinating world of the microbiome, regenerative farming, extinction, consciousness and our disconnection from nature. We Unpack the state of our healthcare systems and food systems and how these systems are actually financially incentivised to compromise the health of humanity. Furthermore, Zach highlights the importance of reconnecting with nature and our food systems to cultivate a deeper sense of consciousness to promote personal and planetary transformation. I hope you enjoy this enlightening conversation as much as I did Huge thanks to 42 Acres Retreat for supporting us and creating the space for this conversation to happen. 06 Sep 2024 | Letting Go Of Letting Go, A conversation with Robyn Leonie | 01:53:46
I firmly believe that ancestral health is modern-day wealth, and believe that ancestral health holds the key to closing the gap between wellness as an industry and wellness as a state of being. My next podcast guest on ‘The NatLifePod’ is certainly aligned with this mission and has dedicated herself to bridging the gap between ancient wisdom and modern life, and has traveled the world studying the roots of cultures to learn how they guide our Human Experience and enrich our contemporary lives. In today’s inspiring episode, I’m in a conversation with the heart lead Robyn Leonie, an explorer, creator, and facilitator and with her partner Ahau Samuel the co-creator of Root of The Gods. Robyn shares her path into the world of ancestral health and the profound significance of sweat lodges, rites of passage, and vision quests, illuminating Robyn’s personal journey into these sacred spaces and beyond. We also reflect on how we introduced the UK’s first 100 Human Sweat Lodge at ‘The Hundred Human Experience’ this year at 42 Acres in Somerset AND HOW we’re thrilled to be introducing this potent medicine at ‘The Next 100 Human Experience’ in Norfolk called ‘KINDRED’. This is our first multigenerational experience where we are inviting families to gather, connect, and partake in ancestral practices and traditions including the sweat lodge with Robyn and Ahau of ‘Root Of The Gods’.Join us as we embark on Robyn’s journey to rekindle the practices of the natural world in a way that honors our ancestors and nurtures our futures future. 04 Jul 2023 | From institution to intuition - A conversation with Tom Johnson | 01:30:37
Introducing Tom Jonson to the NatLifePod: I first met Tom at a ManMen experience that I held down here in Cornwall and I had little to no understanding of Tom’s successes as an England international rugby player. Tom shared his experience as a rugby player, but then opened up to what he endured as child and how that built him as a giant on the pitch. What Tom unpacked that day was something he hadn’t shared before and his vulnerability silenced the room. Tom is a giant of a man who has an incredible ‘happened for me’ message that will no doubt touch the lives of many. I hope you enjoy the conversation with Tom as much as I did. 21 Jan 2021 | Abby Rose - Regenerative Farming and Our Natural Norms | 01:30:22
Hello and welcome to the natural lifestylist podcast Happy New Year all you beautiful beings of Planet Earth. I recorded this podcast way back in the first half of2020 but then I dropped into hyper-focus mode in preparation for the crazy one man, two feet, three peaks barefoot event. Then on returning from the 17 marathons, 3 barefoot peaks in 9 days I hit a massive comedown and had to go into save my own ass mode. This included the whole Riddle Tribe moving out of London and into the country. One could say I somewhat dropped the ball on this podcast. Apologies to the wonderful Abby and all those who have waited for this. But in keeping with my push don't flow philosophy I suspect this will be exactly the right, devine time to drop this episode. There has been lots of talk recently on the new norm but as far as I'm concerned the only new norm we should be moving towards is, actually, the natural norm. Which, ain’t that new. This conversation has certainly helped me better understand and articulate my message around the natural food norm. It takes a huge amount of skill in our modern, industrialized world to get our fundamental needs met. I hope this conversation will help you refine your food filter and make that journey a little easier to understand. Abby Rose is the co-creator and co-host of Farmerama, a platform for the regenerative farming movement; for them to share their voices. Abby is also the co-founder of Vida Cycle apps, creating digital tools to create ecology, profitability and beauty on farms around the World. Their tech tools are built to support a paradigm shift towards regenerative farming where farmers are empowered through learning from their observations. I really hope you enjoy this chat. I learnt a hell of a lot from Abby and I feel like it's just the start. Enjoy the conversation. Where can you find Abby and her work? 03 Sep 2019 | Episode 1: Surfers Against Sewage with Hugo Tagholm | 00:36:49
I had the pleasure of visiting the mighty Surfers Against Sewage yesterday and getting behind the mic with Hugo Tagholm. We discussed sustainability and how this small but powerful organisation are making huge waves. Together, we are the voice of the ocean. We inspire, unite and empower communities to protect oceans, beaches, waves and wildlife. They are a grassroots movement that has grown into one of the UK’s most active and successful environmental charities. Not just surfers, not just sewage. They began as a response by the surfing community to the dreadful state of our beaches. Those hardy souls who ventured into the water back then often found themselves swimming in raw sewage. There’s tales of sanitary towels on heads and human poo sandwiched between bodies and boards. Completely unacceptable. The campaign grew loud, proud and strong and thanks to the passion and perseverance of their members — the UK now enjoys some of the cleanest beaches in Europe. But ‘Plastic is the new sewage’ as it is now the biggest threat to our beaches, our precious marine eco-system and our happiness. Plastic Free Coastlines and their priority going forward is to fight the plastic pollution that blights our beaches and strangles our seashores. Britain still fails to recycle almost all of its plastic waste but a major government initiative means that could change over the next few years and SAS are once again a leading voice to help shift legislation. SAS were a leading voice in ensuring supermarkets plastic bag charges came into play and they are now working on making a deposit return scheme for plastic bottles part of UK law. 16 Aug 2024 | Wild Tending, Harmonious Farming Through The Feminine, A conversation with Tasha Stevens-Vallecillo | 01:20:05
There’s a lot of buzz around off grid living, living in community, rewilding, foraging, regen and wild tending at the moment. And I feel that we need the voices of those that are truly embodied to learn from. So it’s with great pleasure I get to introduce my next guest Tasha who is definitely one of those wise voices. Tasha Stevens-Vallecillo is a mixed race English, Central American woman with a Buddhist Spiritual practice. She has been the visionary of many projects and is a true creative force working with community, wild food, wild tending, food production and farming to address some of the core issues of our time. Her work is rooted in continuous learning and intuitive feeling, to explore and continuously develop methodologies and product development, creating food systems that work in harmony with nature through developing agri-wilding landscapes and products that draw on ancient or indigenous understandings of land, food and medicine. There’s so much that Tasha can speak to from a real place of knowing and this conversation is a great intro to Tasha and my hope is for her to come back on the NatLifePod to share some more of her wisdom. 26 Sep 2024 | Legacy and Responsibility, A Journey from William the Conqueror to Wild Wellbeing | 01:30:23
"A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit.” This week on The NatLifePod, I’m thrilled to welcome the man with a 3000 acre nature recovery plan. Introducing my friend Roger Tempest, the custodian of Broughton Sanctuary. With a legacy spanning 33 generations and around 1000 years, Roger carries the immense responsibility of caring for the remarkable 3000-acre Brougton Sanctuary and shares how he is dedicated to creating a safe space for inner and outer transformation and nature recovery - This includes introducing ancient breeds of animals, hosting nature immersive experiences and retreats aimed at fostering both inner and outer healing. Oh and planting over 300,000 trees, in whose shade he might never sit beneath. We also discuss odyssey - a 30km nature recovery/discovery trail for inner and outer wellbeing - a project that I am proud to say that I am consulting on and which has meant me and my family have had the privilege of staying here at Brougton for 2 months now. I really love what Roger and his partner Paris and the team are co-creating here. So I thought this would make a great conversation and I wasn’t wrong. I hope you enjoy the chat as much as we did. 21 Dec 2023 | The Authenticity Game Plan - A Conversation with Stevie Ward | 02:08:42
On this episode of the NatLifePod I’m behind the mic with Stevie Ward. Stevie Ward is a former professional rugby player who played in one of the most successful teams in super league history. We unpack Stevie’s journey from the curios kid, picking up a rugby ball first time, to then becoming the youngest grand final winner ever, and being named captain at just 26 years of age. We then go on to unpack the injuries, the mental health issues and the brain injury that then led to Stevie retiring from Rugby at just 27 years of age. Through his ups and downs, his wins and what was being perceived as losing in life, Stevie has birthed a belief that the truest form of resilience is to realise the potential of our true selves. Stevie is doing great work in the community through Mentality which he launched in 2016. Mentality is a platform for inspiring conversation around mental health for men and offers counselling and life-coaching services. I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as we did. 28 Sep 2023 | Remembering who we are - A conversation with Seth Hughes | 01:21:55
On this episode of the NatLifePod I’m behind the mic with Seth Hughes Seth is a super inspiring human who’s on a mission to help others reconnect to being nature, not separate from it. Led by curiosity, a talent for film making , foraging and a little frustration. Seth decided to get a smart phone and start communicating his message for personal and planetary health, and in just 5 months went from 0 to hero with 124 thousand followers on the gram. Now I say hero, not because he hit 124k followers, but because of his love and care and the intention behind what he chooses to share with his growing community. Seth produces really meaningful, insightful, healing content for both personal and planetary health . We unpack his journey from his early years as a surfer and his transition to a successful young videographer on the surf scene, and how nature has helped him remain grounded whilst navigating these new times as a 24 year old man, being catapulted from Seth wanting to help others reconnect to the land, to Seth going viral with reels hitting 5million views. I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as we did. You can help us close this gap between wellness as an industry and wellness as a state of being, by liking, commenting and sharing the pod. 19 Mar 2024 | Is sobriety the missing link? - A Conversation with Andy Ramage | 01:17:55
What if I told you, you could take a magic pill and with that pill you could become a better version of yourself, improve your family life, your health, your wellbeing, and that you could wake early, alert and on your A game. And in those early hours of the morning, before work, you could write two books, study a masters, start a PHD and build a business that was 70% more successful than the last that you’d worked for. Well my next guest Andy Ramage has a few pearls of embodied wisdom to share on this…. But Andy didn't take a magic pill, he just discovered how magic life can be when you give up the booze. It’s 10 years since Andy went dry for January. He’s remained sober for 10 years since and through his books, classes, talks and campaigns has helped 1000’s of others tap into their human potential. This is a great chat. Andy is always on fire. It’s contagious and I believe a great proof of concept. 09 Feb 2024 | The promise of psychedelics - A conversation with Professor David Nutt | 01:03:06
Psychedelics have helped me and many others that I know through real dark times of addictions and depression. My own breakthrough with psychedelics provided the breaking down of my belief systems and reawakened an overwhelmingly empowering sense of my own ability to change. I’m super excited to be sharing this next episode of the NatLifePod with you because I’m behind the mic with Professor David Nutt. who is a neuropsychopharmacologist specialising in the research of drugs that affect the brain and conditions such as addiction, depression anxiety, and sleep. In this chat with David I unpack my own journey with psychedelics and the huge shifts that I have made through working with these powerful medicines David then helps to explain what was actually happening with my brain during and after these mind altering, healing and life changing experiences. It’s a really exciting time and certainly feels that we’re on the cusp of a major revolution in psychiatric medicine and neuroscience that could see psychedelics being used to treat addictions, depression and other mental health conditions. We discuss the potential therapeutic purposes of psychedelics for conditions including depression, PTSD, addiction, anxiety, and eating disorders. I hope you appreciate the direction of this conversation and the great work that David Nutt is doing here. 27 Apr 2020 | James Thornton - Client Earth. Protecting People, Nature & The Planet. | 01:24:07
Welcome to The Natural Lifestylist Podcast It’s been quite some time since I last released a new podcast, even though this one's been in the bank and I've been itching to put it out. It didn't feel appropriate to put it out, especially in these coronavirus times. Then, as if by magic, I was presented with some research that suggests that high levels of air pollution, specifically diesel may be one of the contributing factors to deaths from COVID-19. You can check out that research by clicking here. That was then a brilliant opportunity for me to release this episode since air pollution is a topic that we speak about in our conversation. My guest on this episode is James Thornton. The New Statesman has named him as one of 10 people who could change the world. James Thornton is an environmental lawyer and writer. He is the founding CEO of Client Earth, a global, non-profit, environmental law organization. James launched Client Earth in 2007 sparking fundamental change in the way environmental protections are made and enforced across Europe. Now operating globally, Client Earth uses advocacy, litigation, and research to address the greatest challenges of our time; including nature loss and climate change. I hope you enjoy this conversation. I absolutely love what Client Earth is about and what they're doing. I've been on board ever since the book landed in my lap. They were one of the organisations that I raised funds for on my crazy barefoot Land's End to John O’Groats shenanigans last year If you want to get behind James and support Client Earth you can head over to Amazon and buy the book or you can head to clientearth.org. On the website, you can make donations, fundraise, or even join their leadership circles. You can help James, Client Earth, and Mother Earth by sharing this conversation wide and far. Don't just do it for Client Earth, for me, or even for you. But rather the bigger picture of doing this for the next generation and generations to come. Don’t forget to check out my weekly online Move Breath Chill Experience and also The NATLIFE Tribe. Until the next time stay wild, stay connected, and stay empowered! You are loved!
12 Jan 2024 | Intervention to Reinvention - A conversation with Rhys Thomas | 01:58:30
Well listeners, buckle up! This next episode of the NatLifePod is really quite something. To be honest, this intro really isn’t going to do this pod justice. But what I will say is that this is a real roller coaster of a story, and one that speaks to how hitting Rock Bottom can become the solid foundation of which to rebuild a life that you love. On this episode of the NatLifePod, I’m behind the mic with Rhys Thomas. Rhys, is an ex-international rugby player, who at just 29-years of age suffered a massive heart attack during training. To save his life, Rhys underwent a quadruple heart bypass and now lives life as a battery-powered half-man-half-machine. But this wasn’t rock bottom for Rhys. It’s the trauma that unravelled post open heart and post coma, that became that foundation. We unpack the trauma-led-chaotic lifestyle that finally led to Rhys’ close community stepping into help him through intervention, and the awakening that followed rehab. I firmly believe that we have everything inside ourselves to be the change and this conversation certainly serves as confirmation of that belief. I hope you find as much inspiration from this conversation as I did. 18 Jun 2024 | Is play the answer to breaking through the broken educational mould? - A conversation with Peter Gray | 01:13:04
Welcome back to The NatLifePod. I am thrilled to bring you today's episode with someone who has been a huge inspiration for our family dynamic. In this episode, I have the honour of interviewing Peter Gray, acclaimed author of "Free to Learn: Why Unleashing the Instinct to Play Will Make Our Children Happier, More Self-Reliant, and Better Students for Life." Peter's groundbreaking work challenges our western world templates of education and advocates for a more natural and self-directed approach to learning. As parents, caregivers and educators, we often find ourselves caught in a system that prioritises standardised testing and questionable fact memorisation over the innate curiosity and creativity of our children. But Peter Gray's research into indigenous cultures, unschooling and democratic schools and his profound insights provide a refreshing perspective on the importance of play, freedom, and autonomy in a child's development. Join us as we delve deep into Peter's illuminating work and explore the profound impact of unstructured play, self-directed learning, unschooling, democratic schools and the power of natural curiosity. I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as we did. To lean more about Peter Gray Get a copy of his book Free to Learn Big shout out to Simon of @wearetheclarkes for filming, editing and producing.
