Becca Campbell is a sleep consultant and mom of two beautiful daughters under the age of 5 who share a room together and sleep all night! But that hasn't always been the case! Like many parents, she once struggled with waking up every other hour in the night and was lost as to what she could do to help her baby sleep better. She quickly learned that there are angels out there called sleep consultants and when she saw a transformation with her own daughter's sleep, she decided that she had to jump on board. Highly trusted by the medical community, she has since helped thousands of parents make sleep a thing and is on a mission to let you know that you don't have to be a tired parent...and that your child WANTS to sleep! You just need a plan to show you how.

30 Apr 2020 | #7: Time Management Hacks to Make Cooking for Babies Less Stressful | 00:23:44
In this episode, I reveal all of my tips and tricks on how to manage your time when meal prepping and planning for the week! I include how to prep your biggest meal of the day while tending to your infant, toddler, or both, how to choose what meals to serve (hint: think themes!), and how to manage the overwhelm that comes along with all of this!
I keep it real on this podcast, so remember that this is not something that will happen... Every. Single. Week. Some weeks it’s all about flying by the seat of our pants, and that my friends, is okay! Take it easy on yourself, this takes practice, so give yourself the time to work into all of this and remember - your baby has no idea what a “real meal” is, so random items work for them, even if they don’t sound great to you.
As always, please remember to subscribe to the podcast, if you haven’t already, and I’m going to ask you a favour...would you please leave a review for me on Apple Podcasts? It goes a long way towards getting this information to parents all over that could really use the encouragement and support!

18 Jun 2020 | #13: From Baby to Toddler: Changes to Expect when Feeding | 00:24:50
In this episode, I’m talking all about the changes that can happen when your little, tiny baby becomes an independent, and sometimes, stubborn toddler. With all of the worry that goes into the start of this food journey with your little one, like what to feed them first or when to start, not a lot of attention gets paid to the transition from baby to toddler. Guess what? Most parents are shocked by the changes that can happen!
I’m going over the developmental, physical, and emotional stages that your toddler will be experiencing, and HOW this is going to affect their eating. I discuss why it is crucial to remember that toddlers are still learning. I’ll chat about how their growth slows, and even about neophobia (you’re probably thinking, “what the heck is that??” - don’t worry, I’ve got you covered). But here’s the real truth bomb - the honeymoon phase is over! If you had a baby that ate literally anything and you’re thinking: “pfft I’ve got this, what’s the big deal, no picky eater for me!”. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but there is a good chance your toddler will throw that dream to the ground, along with everything on their plate.
But seriously, there are so many ways to prepare you for this transition so that you can help your toddler through this, and hopefully, make this just a phase in your journey. So listen in, and remember, don’t be scared of this change, change is good. Your toddler will require different strategies than your baby did, but they will also introduce you to new found, or forgotten, joys on a daily basis. Despite all the jokes out there - toddlerhood is one of the best.

25 Jun 2020 | #14: Feeding Schedules for Toddlers | 00:30:55
In this episode, I'm going to be giving you a complete breakdown of my top tips for creating a mealtime schedule for your toddler - that will actually work! If you are the parent of a toddler, chances are you have heard them ask for a snack a time or two. Or….let’s face it... 5, or (what feels like) 1000 times! Snacks are coveted to toddlers, it’s like their favourite time of day - it must be if they want it so often, am I right?!
If they love the food you serve so much, that they ask for it constantly, why then when they sit down for a meal is it a complete battle and they end up leaving without eating so much as a crumb?? I’m hoping you see the connection. In reality, the number one reason that kids choose not to eat at mealtimes is because they are just not hungry! And who would be after having snack after snack all day?
No worries, I’m here to help today with all of my tips on creating, and maintaining, a consistent mealtime AND snack-time routine for your toddler. I’ve got your back with 4 easy steps to set this up and make it last! No more fetching 20 snacks a day for you!
As always, if you get value from this episode, please subscribe (so you don’t miss out!), and rate and review it on Apple Podcasts (so others don’t miss it either!). Share this with a fellow Mama that could use a break from endless snacks too - just think of all that free time that will open up if you aren’t constantly making snacks all day! Enough time to listen to another episode I’m sure ;)

09 Jul 2020 | #16: What to Do When Your Toddler is Sweet Obsessed? | 00:27:16
In today’s episode, I’m going to be smashing every belief you’ve ever had about desserts! That’s right - we’re talking about sweets - including: if to serve them, when to offer them, and how frequently they should be in your meal plans. You just might be shocked with what I have to say.... hint: I’m pro-desserts! I’m even a firm believer in increasing how often you offer them if you notice your toddler just can’t get enough of those scrumptious treats.
Disclaimer: I know this may cause fear and panic in you - as parents, we want only the best for our kids, and we were always taught desserts are not that! So, why am I flipping the script now? Because we want a future generation that has a positive relationship with all foods - we don’t want them to feel instant guilt every time they have a slice of cake. Today, I’m teaching you how you can accomplish this with a few simple steps.

16 Jul 2020 | #17: How to Foster Independence in the Kitchen with Adeline Dubreuil | 00:38:41
In this episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Adeline Dubreuil! Adeline is an AMI Montessori teacher, and runs a successful in-home Montessori program. If you are new to the world of Montessori, you’re not the only one! I shared this episode with my assistant, and she was blown away with the information Adeline had to share. Here is what she has to say:
“I had NO idea that this is what Montessori was all about! I had heard the word tossed around in different mom groups, but honestly, felt too overwhelmed, and intimidated, to look it up. After listening to Adeline, I’m realizing that a lot of what I aim to teach my girls, aligns perfectly with its theory on encouraging independence. When she speaks about tasks for a one year old and a three year old in the kitchen… my girls are 1 and 3… I have definitely not let my 3 year old cut food, and I am just realizing now how much she has been begging me for this type of independence.”
If you want to know exactly what she’s referring to, listen in! Adeline and I go over everything. Including, why you should foster your toddler’s independence (not only in the kitchen), and how to accomplish this safely. She even provides examples of tasks that are appropriate as they continue to grow and learn.

23 Jul 2020 | #18: What is Baby Led Feeding? | 00:17:59
In this episode, I’m breaking down the difference between Baby Led Weaning and Baby Led Feeding. Didn’t know there was a difference? Exactly my point! These terms, and so many others, are used so interchangeably that most people don’t even realize that they describe different methods for introducing solid foods to an infant.
Now, I am not getting into the pros and cons of all methods, but I will be sharing why I teach Baby Led Feeding, as opposed to a strict Baby Led Weaning approach. Hopefully, you’ll come away with an understanding of why I advocate for this method. And, realize that it actually allows you to custom make a feeding approach that you are comfortable with, but that also follows your baby’s cues and acknowledges their skill levels. Above all else, you need to choose a method that fits your family, which Baby Led Feeding allows. Feeding is not a one size fits all scenario - what is with parenting anyways?

In this episode of the My Little Eater Podcast, I’ll be busting a few of the most common myths about baby led weaning. Nope, nope, and nope!
Deciding whether to go the traditional feeding route with purees, or to go the baby led weaning route, is a difficult task. You might even decide that a mixed approach is the best fit for your family - yes, this IS an option! Either way, let me help you make this decision by providing you with the facts. It can be information overload out there in Google-land, so listen in to hear the truths behind baby led weaning, before you decide which option is best for you and your baby. 06 Aug 2020 | #20: Raising Body Positive Kids with Verena Dickson | 00:31:57
In today’s episode, I speak about a topic that is close to my heart - raising our kids to have a positive body image - with Verena Dickson. Verena is the owner of Kinder Nutrition, and is a Registered Nutritionist that specializes in child nutrition. We’ll be talking about why weight does not equate to health, how to speak about bodies in a neutral way, how important it is to address these issues within yourself first, and what you can teach your child to do if someone comments on their weight/image.
I know, lots to unpack here, but this topic is so incredibly important. Think about struggles that you have maybe experienced throughout your life. Have you ever looked in the mirror and not liked what you saw? Have you ever put yourself down, or decided not to wear something, because it just didn’t look “right” on your body? Same. So please listen to this episode. We are sharing some great concepts and tips that you can apply with your children beginning in early toddlerhood. That’s right - toddlers - start this now and get them set up for a lifetime.

Verena’s Bio:
Verena Dickson is a registered nutritionist specializing in child nutrition, and is the founder of Kinder Nutrition. Her aim is to dispel some common myths and replace some misplaced practices relating to children’s eating habits and body image so that children develop a natural, relaxed relationship with food and their own bodies.
Most of us grew up watching our mums complain about their tummy fat and jumping from one diet trend to another. This certainly didn’t help with the development of our own body image. The message that thin means worthy has been ingrained in us and is often hard to let go. But our children today are subject to even more intense pressures than previous generations. Verena has a very gentle, respectful approach to building body confidence in children that can be applied from a very young age. She has helped many families across the UK with issues like weight concerns, overeating, under eating, and many more.

13 Aug 2020 | #21: What to Do When Your Toddler Just Won’t Eat! | 00:18:50
In today’s episode, I’m tackling a question from one of my followers on Instagram. In a nutshell, her 2 year old used to eat anything as a baby, but now refuses everything! Even foods she used to accept without hesitation. She’ll even refuse all food until she gets the milk, or specific food item, she wants - sometimes withholding for an entire day. I gotta hand it to toddlers, their ability to persevere to get what they want is top notch!
So here’s the deal - I’ll be talking about the calorie needs of a toddler, mealtime pressure, trust in feeding, AND boundary testing, in order to answer this one. If this sounds like your toddler, or even if you have a baby approaching toddlerhood, this is a must listen! Having these tools ready to use, should the need arise, is so much easier than trying to find them when your toddler is already testing your last nerve.
If you get value from this episode, don’t forget to subscribe, rate, and review it on Apple Podcasts. And please share this with fellow parents in the thick of it, we could all use a little peace of mind when it comes to feeding our (very) stubborn toddlers.

20 Aug 2020 | #22: Safe Foods for Picky Toddlers | 00:16:11
In this episode, I’m talking about a technique that is absolutely necessary when dealing with picky eaters - SAFE FOODS! And no, I don’t mean serving food safely - that’s a whole other topic. I mean, ensuring that at every meal and snack there is at least one food that you know, or reasonably expect, your toddler will eat. I always get a ton of questions about this concept, and recently had a listener bring up her concerns, so today I’ll be diving into some answers.
I often hear…
“But, Edwena, I want them to eat something new, not something they already like!”
“If I give them one thing they like, they’ll ONLY eat that - is that okay?”
“They change their minds so often, if they liked it yesterday they probably won’t like it today. So, what do I do?”
“The only foods my toddler willingly accepts are carbs! That can’t be okay right? They’d eat nothing but bread all day!”
“My toddler only has one safe food - I swear - they like nothing!”
These are all valid concerns, and I’ve got answers for them all! So, grab your headphones, find a quiet, toddler-free space (if you can) and listen up close. Once you understand the ins and outs of this concept, you’ll never go back to feeding without keeping this in mind, trust me.
As always, if you get value from this episode, remember to subscribe, rate, and review it at Apple Podcasts. Share this tip with a friend, because let’s face it, feeding toddlers can be an adventure... let’s help you lean into the fun of that journey, and away from the stress!

27 Aug 2020 | #23: Foods to Avoid for Babies Under 1 | 00:18:56
In this episode, I’m doing something I don’t normally do - telling you what NOT to do! I’m usually talking all about the wonderful things you CAN serve your baby. So today I decided to switch it up, because I often hear… “Surely babies can’t eat everything, right Edwena?” So, I’m sharing my list of foods that you should avoid serving your baby under 12 months old. I go over what they are, and why to avoid them.
Now, whenever I tackle topics like this, I feel the need to add a disclaimer. So here it is… no Mom guilt allowed! I’ll say it over and over until we all start to hear it! When you know better, you do better. So if this topic is completely new to you, well, now you know. You can’t do what you don’t know - so no guilt, okay?

03 Sep 2020 | #24: Protein Needs for your Toddler | 00:15:58
In this episode, I’m talking all about protein! Chicken, beef, fish, plant-based - whichever is your preference, I’m breaking down exactly how much of it your toddler needs. Truth: we often overestimate this amount - for having so much energy, they actually need a lot less protein than you may be picturing. And since toddlers often refuse meat, unless it’s in nugget form, this can be very reassuring!
Before resorting to those protein drinks for kids, sit back, relax, and really take this in. Trust me, you’ll feel so much better the next time your toddler refuses the ground beef on their taco, and opts instead for a plain ol’ tortilla - with nothing on it. Plenty of other opportunities to reach their protein needs throughout the day, and I’ll chat about just how to do it.

10 Sep 2020 | #25: Season Finale – Potty Training Q&A with Allison Jandu | 00:25:17
In this episode, I’m speaking with The Potty Training Consultant, Allison Jandu, to bring you some top tips on potty training. From the basics, like when to begin potty training and how long it takes to potty train a toddler, to specifics, like what to do when your toddler asks to use the potty 15 times in one meal, we chat about it all! We even touch on reward charts, with both of us sharing our thoughts on food based rewards.
Here's the thing, I’ve been asked by numerous parents about how to handle it when their toddler requests to go to the bathroom 5 seconds after sitting down to eat. Do they really have to go? Do they just want an excuse to leave the table? How many times do you let them get down? 22 Oct 2020 | #26: Feeding Safety with Holly Choi of Safe Beginnings | 00:28:17
In this first episode of Season 2 of The My Little Eater Podcast, I have the pleasure of speaking with Holly Choi, co-owner of Safe Beginnings. She’s passionate about keeping your children safe, and we speak about everything involving safety while feeding. We’re discussing choking hazards, high chair safety, and how to best be prepared for a choking incident.
I have yet to meet a parent that isn’t at least a little nervous about introducing solid foods to their baby, because of their fear of them choking. It’s completely normal to feel that way, and, as Holly discusses in the episode, it helps so much to know you’re prepared for the worst case scenario. The maneuvers used to save your child when they’re choking are extremely effective, so knowing them is crucial.
Disclaimer: This topic may cause you to feel emotional, thinking about those worst case scenarios is not fun for anyone. However, please do not miss this episode because of that! It is so important to feel confident and prepared when feeding your baby, and the information that Holly shares in this episode, will help with that.
As always, please subscribe to the show, and rate and review it on Apple Podcasts - it goes a long way towards helping my tips reach more parents who could benefit from them. And, I cannot stress this enough, share this episode! Safety is important for every parent, let’s reach as many of them as we can!

You can also follow them on Instagram, @safebeginnings, Holly is always sharing invaluable safety tips - so check them out! If you’d like some clarification on the difference between a choke and a gag, enroll in my Baby Led Feeding online course! If you’re still feeling nervous about gagging - I get it - it looks really scary, and it can feel like you need to intervene, which you don’t. Download my free resource that outlines ways to overcome this fear, and be ready to continue on your journey with introducing solids.

But, here’s what I want you to remember - Halloween only happens once a year! And, in this episode, I'm going to show you how to enjoy Halloween with your kiddos, manage the overload without being a "meany", and teach them some great healthy eating habits along the way.

12 Nov 2020 | #29: Milk and Breastfeeding Requirements for Toddlers | 00:10:18
In this episode, I’m answering a SUPER popular question that I get - how much milk should a toddler drink a day? I’m breaking this all the way down for you! I’m talking about quantities, benefits, and the pitfalls of too much of a good thing. I’m even answering a question from a listener regarding breastfeeding interfering with solid foods!
My goal is for you to take what you learn in this episode, and apply it to your family in a way that suits your individual family’s needs. Every family is unique, and offering a blanket “one size fits all” recommendation, when it comes to eating, particularly when it comes to serving milk when there are so many alternatives and specifics, is just not possible. So please, keep this in mind, and remember that every toddler is unique - your toddler may be obsessed with milk, or they may absolutely hate it! That is definitely going to affect how you apply what I speak about in this episode.

19 Nov 2020 | #30: How to Minimize Mess with Baby Led Weaning | 00:13:20
In this episode, I’m tackling one of the biggest concerns most parents and caregivers have about baby led weaning… THE MESS! There’s no doubt about it, baby led weaning is messy! Food on the floor, the baby, the table, and maybe even the walls! It’s no wonder parents often ask me how they can fit in all the meals their baby needs. Because between meal prep, actual eating time, and clean up, you may feel like you’re rushing from cooking to eating to cleaning to napping, and then just repeating it all over again. It can certainly make for a long day.
That’s why I’m sharing with you my top 5 tips, and maybe even a bonus one, on how to minimize the mess that comes along with baby led weaning. We don’t want to eliminate it completely because, believe it or not, the mess serves an important purpose. But, I can absolutely understand wanting to reign it in a little bit - no one has time for a deep clean, or bath, after every meal!
As always, please remember to subscribe to the podcast, give it a 5 star rating and review at Apple Podcasts, and please share this with your friends! I can’t think of anyone that wouldn’t want a few tips on managing the mess of feeding their baby, but I can think of a lot more fun things to do then scrub sauce stains out of your carpet!
Additional Resources:
If you listen to today’s episode and think “That’s great, but how do I actually get them to touch the food in order to make a mess? Or how do I even serve these foods to begin with?” Then you need my Baby Led Feeding course! I’ll take you step by step through every aspect of learning to feed your baby, so you can feel confident knowing how and what to feed them. Enroll today! (https://mylittleeater.com/baby-led-feeding/)

26 Nov 2020 | #31: Learning to eat without the TV and other mealtime distractions | 00:22:25
In this episode, I’m answering a listener's question on how to help her child eat, when the only way they can eat is with the TV on. I go over all my recommendations with regards to watching TV, or providing other distractions for your toddler, during mealtimes. Now, if you’ve seen some of my content before, you’ll know that I really love family style meals, mealtime conversations, and minimal distractions while eating. This all helps to promote a positive mealtime environment, and is the perfect setting for teaching mindfulness while eating. That being said, you can probably guess how I feel about screen time during meals…
I know, it’s so convenient to just turn on your toddler’s favourite show and let them zone out in order to get them to eat. BUT - that's exactly the issue...they’re “zoning out”. They’re paying attention to the TV, and not to their food, or their tummies. In the episode, I give you tips on how to remove the TV from mealtimes, as well as give you recommendations on what you can do instead to fix the issue for real vs. use TV as a bandaid solution.
(PS >> The same will be true for other distractions, TV is just a really great example, and I receive this question a lot, I’m even sharing one of them today!)
As always, if you get value from this podcast, please subscribe, rate, and review it at Apple Podcasts. And - I’d love to know - does your toddler require distractions to eat? Send me an email at info@mylittleeater.com or DM me on Instagram (@mylittleeater) to tell me all about it. If this is something you’re looking to get help with, I want to be able to provide you with the answers you need!

10 Dec 2020 | #33: Will Grandparents ruin my healthy feeding efforts? | 00:19:19
In this episode, I’m tackling a very common worry among parents…
“Will my child’s Grandparents ruin all the hard work I’ve done in creating healthy eating habits for my kids?”.
This is a question I get asked a lot, and I totally understand it because...well...I LIVED it!
My kids would come home from their grandparents’ house and say…
“Mommy - I had ice cream for supper!”
Then I’d ask my Mom what she’d done with the kids all day while she was looking after them for me, and she’d go...
“Well, we made chocolate chip cookies, and then I took them to the canteen to get some chips, and then we watched a movie with hot chocolate and marshmallows!”
(Insert eye-roll here…)
To top it off, my father-in-law used to pressure my kids to eat everything on their plate (which he heaped completely full of food!), and then would even guilt them into eating dessert by saying: “Come on...it’s dessert...YUM!”. And the icing on top of that cake was that he’d even make ME out to be the bad guy. He’d hint to my boys that I’d be mad they were eating dessert and it had to be their secret.
No thank you!
So, believe me, I’ve dealt with my fair share of this, and I 100% understand your concerns!
I’m sharing with you my top tips - tried and tested - for dealing with these super common grandparent issues. Find yourself a quiet space, away from the kiddos (and grandparents), and listen in!
As always, if you get value from this episode, please subscribe, rate, and review it on Apple Podcasts. And, I’d love for you to share this episode with a friend, or sibling, who may have to deal with this too!

31 Dec 2020 | #35: Food Substitutions for When Your Baby has Allergies | 00:31:48
This episode is for all you mamas (and dads) out there dealing with food allergies! Maybe your baby has already reacted to some after you started introducing the top allergens, or maybe you personally have such a severe allergy that you can’t keep certain foods in the house. Now, for the latter case, your baby will still need to be exposed to those allergens, but best to speak with your allergist about how to go about it (and that’s an episode for another day).
Back to the topic at hand! In this episode, I’m talking about how you can still ensure your baby meets their nutritional requirements, while keeping in mind the most common allergens. I get asked this a lot because so many of you have recipes you commonly use, or you find some new ones to try on Pinterest or recipe sites, but they often include top allergens, such as eggs, wheat, dairy, or nuts. So, if your baby has an allergy to one, or multiple of those, it can be hard to find recipes that work.
I’m sharing with you some easy substitutions that you can make to these recipes, or just in your weekly grocery shop, so you can continue to offer your baby variety, and the nutrition they need, while avoiding an allergic reaction.
As always, if you get value from this episode, please remember to subscribe, rate and review it at Apple Podcasts! And please share this episode with a friend – tag me, @mylittleeater, in your stories while you listen, I’d love to hear what you think!
If you’re a family living with allergies and you have a recommendation for a food substitution that I didn’t mention, please share it with me! Send me an email to info@mylittleeater.com so I can spread the word, the more options available the better.

12 Jan 2021 | Bonus: Toddler Led Feeding | 00:11:10
In this episode, I’m introducing you to my new signature concept - Toddler Led Feeding! By now, I hope you’ve heard of Baby Led Feeding, which is my specialized approach to introducing solids, whether purees or whole foods, in a responsive way that takes into account your baby’s skill and comfort level, while gently nudging them along a texture timeline of my own design. So, if you’ve done this approach, it’s time to move up to the toddler stage, and if you’re new to these ideas, it’s never too late to start!
Why do I find it necessary for all toddlers to eat as part of a relationship that utilizes this approach? Because, Toddler Led Feeding is all about, you guessed it, following your toddler’s lead! And, if you do this, you will be using the principles of the Division of Responsibility, and I base everything in my practice off of having this as the main foundation to a successful feeding relationship. If you’re doing Toddler Led Feeding, it’s almost impossible to not be following the Division of Responsibility - you can’t have one without the other!
Listen in to hear me explain this approach, why I recommend it, and what the benefits are - hint-hint decreased likelihood of developing picky eating habits is one of them!
As always, if you get value from this episode, please leave a 5 star rating and review at Apple Podcasts. And let me know....are you going to give Toddler Led Feeding a try?
Additional Resources:
If you answered “Yes!” to my question above and are ready to give Toddler Led Feeding a try, or even if you know you want to but aren’t quite ready to start, now is the time to buy my Feeding Toddlers online course! 14 Jan 2021 | #37: Preventing Picky Eating vs. Reversing it | 00:21:53
In this episode, I’m smashing a couple of very common picky eating myths! Ever heard someone say that picky eating is genetic? Or that every child goes through a picky phase, and there’s nothing you can do about it? While I admit those first two points are mostly true, that last one about there being nothing you can do about it, couldn’t be further from the truth!
Picky eating can, in fact, be prevented. AND, I also advocate for early intervention because, while it’s normal and expected for your toddler to begin to show some picky eating tendencies as they gain more independence, taking action during this phase will shorten how long you’ll be dealing with this behaviour. Waiting for it to end on its own isn’t always going to work.
But, why are kids picky eaters anyway? While genetics does play a factor in picky eating, there are numerous other factors that have arguably larger impacts on the prevalence of picky eating. I chat about each of these, and about how we can make adjustments to eliminate, or significantly reduce, some of these factors. This inevitably aids in both preventing and reversing picky eating.
If you’re a parent, regardless of the age of your child, this is a must listen episode. I’m revealing the 8 step process that I use in my Feeding Toddlers online course to both prevent and reverse picky eating. Even if you’re out of the toddler stage, these steps can be applied to older children as well, and it’s never too late to start! Right now (until Jan.17th, 2021) you can get 20% off your purchase of the toddlers course using code TODDLER at checkout.
As always, if you get value from this episode, please leave a 5 star rating and review at Apple Podcasts. This helps get my voice out to more parents who could benefit from the tips and tricks I’m teaching here.

28 Jan 2021 | #39: Navigating Mom Shame and Perfectionism in Motherhood | 00:26:17
In this episode, I had the privilege of connecting with Dr. Christine Sterling, who is not only a mom herself, but is a board-certified OB-GYN, on a mission to ensure women get the maternal care support they deserve - emotionally and medically. Her passion for supporting women to confidently and calmly navigate motherhood, postpartum and the fourth trimester, challenging society's views of what a perfect mom should look like - is just the kind of support moms need.
So, why are we expected to be perfect moms all the time? Who created this image of perfection in motherhood? Being a mom is the most rewarding job, but it can also be one of the toughest. It can seem like everything you do is constantly under scrutiny. There is so much mom shaming going on, which makes you constantly second guess if you're worthy. But guess what? YOU ARE! You are enough mama!
This episode is so powerful and inspiring! Here's what we'll be digging into today:
>> Addressing mom guilt around how you chose to feed your baby
>>Doable goals around breastfeeding and pivoting when it doesn't work out
>>Handling those unhelpful criticisms that seem to be in plenty during postpartum
>>Where this idea version of the "perfect mom" came from
>>Why comparing yourself to other moms on social media isn't practical
Grab a comfy spot, and listen in - and please share it with your friends! All Moms need to hear this message! It’s up on the blog too, if you prefer to read in silence (www.mylittleeater.com/momshame)

Dr. Christine Sterling is a board-certified ObGyn and ‘mom on a mission’ dedicated to ensuring women get the maternal care and support they deserve. Dr. Sterling obtained her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from the University of Southern California, graduating summa cum laude. She then continued at USC for her medical degree.
As the loyal BFF that all mommas need, it isn’t surprising that when residency colleagues were asked to pick who they would have as their personal physician, they chose Dr. Sterling. She supports modern women to confidently and calmly navigate their reproductive journey with fierce compassion and determination to challenge the status quo when it comes to women’s health.
After becoming a mother herself, Dr. Sterling discovered firsthand how little support western medicine offers to women moving through the life-altering transition into motherhood. She has since made it her mission to further develop and share her signature Mind, Body, Heart model of care, informed by the thousands of women she has cared for and her long-standing meditation and mindfulness practice.
Her unique blend of cutting-edge science and ancient wisdom aims to cradle women throughout their reproductive journey. 04 Feb 2021 | #40: Why Your Baby is Stuck on Purees and How to Move on From Them | 00:16:46
In this episode, I'm tackling a common question I get from parents who are stressed out that, for whatever reason, their baby isn't able to transition off pureed baby food! Some parents try, but their baby ends up gagging excessively, maybe even vomiting, or just flat out refuses the finger foods but shows no resistance when offered those easy-to-swallow purees! Basically, you end up stuck in this never ending rut of offering finger foods, only for them to be rejected, and leaning on backup purees to make sure your baby doesn't go hungry. And the cycle repeats again and again - with no end in sight!
If you know exactly what I’m talking about, listen in for the lowdown on why your baby may be stuck in the puree cycle, and get some insider tips from yours truly on how to stop it once and for all (yes, it is possible!). I've gone a step further and taken all these tips from the podcast and made them into a blog for all you mama's who don't have a spare moment of quiet time to listen to an entire podcast! 11 Feb 2021 | #41: How I Realized My Time Was Worth More and Why Yours is Too Mama | 00:20:14
In today’s episode, I’m talking about the many different roles of a mom. She’s a full time cook and cleaner, she’s a teacher and a tutor, she’s a psychologist, she’s a nutritionist, she’s an office manager, a coach, a shuttle driver, a daycare teacher - and that's not even putting a dent in the longgg list. And, even though she isn't doing all these things at the same time, she has to have the ability to switch between all these roles, or jobs, faster than a toddler can scream “MOMMYYYY!”
Now, we all know that being a mom is the most rewarding job - but it’s damn exhausting! And your value as a mom, and your time itself, is worth SO much. Let’s not forget about the time spent stressing about things going wrong, or staying up all night worrying about everything, making sure everything is perfect all the time. Just to ensure that our children are getting the help that they need. It can be overwhelming to say the least!
On top of all of that, the truth is, that is all time you can't get back. That’s time spent not doing things that bring you joy, or spending quality, stress-free time with your kids. Now, if you read this and thought, "whoa, that's me!", then today’s episode is for you! I’m giving you my perspective on realizing the true value of your time, and sharing how I learned the importance of delegating things that weren't honouring my time well. Because, at the end of the day, spending time with your child, forming memories with them and bonding with them - that's where your value lies. That's where you can't even put a price on the value of your time. And, if it just so happens that reading is something you love spending your valuable time on, head over to the blog to read my thoughts there too! (www.mylittleeater.com/valueoftime)
It means the world to me to be able to reach parents like you, and give them the support they need through these podcast episodes. So, if you get value from this episode, please subscribe, rate and review it at Apple Podcasts, because that’s how other parents can find me too!
Additional resources:

18 Feb 2021 | #42: Why it’s Important to Serve Your Baby Different Textures | 00:23:56
In this episode, I’m speaking directly to the parents out there who’d like to start solids by offering purees, but then don’t really know when finger foods actually fit in. Do you wait for them to get their pincer grasp? Do you wait until after their first birthday? When do you stop pureeing everything? Does it even matter anyway?
My recommendation will always be to introduce finger foods to your baby as early as you possibly can. Which means, as early as they start showing you that they’re ready, willing, and capable of handling finger foods. I’m all about reading your baby’s cues and following their lead! That’s exactly what I teach in my signature Baby Led Feeding method, regardless of whether you begin with purees or finger foods.
Now, here’s the shocking point for most parents, usually your baby will show these signs around 6-7 months of age! That means very little time actually spent on purees. I’m sharing why this is full of benefits for your baby, and what signs to look for to know your baby is ready, so listen in (or read about it here: www.mylittleeater.com/babyfingerfoods)!
And, as always, if you get value from this episode, please subscribe, rate and review it at Apple Podcasts! This is how I’m able to reach even more parents with this valuable info, plus I read every single one, I promise!

25 Feb 2021 | #43: The Best Bread for Baby Led Feeding | 00:20:34
In this episode, I’m going very specific and sharing my top recommendations for choosing the best bread for your baby! Believe it or not, I actually get asked this question A LOT! Bread can contain a lot of sodium, and some even have harmful ingredients for babies, such as honey, so choosing the right type of bread can be tricky. Plus, have you been in the bakery aisle lately - there’s literally hundreds of choices!
I’m not only sharing my expert recommendations on what breads I prefer for babies (I’ll share specific brands I love), but I’m also talking about what to look for in the ingredients in case you can’t find exactly the ones I recommend. AND I’m going to share how to safely serve bread to your baby. Hint-hint: you cannot serve fresh bread to a 6 month old!

04 Mar 2021 | #44: Do You Really Need to Worry About Salt for Babies? | 00:37:29
In this episode, I have the pleasure of speaking with Lily Nichols, RDN. She’s known for challenging common guidelines when it comes to nutrition and dietetics. She analyzes the research and dedicates her time to truly understanding what it implies. Today, we’re talking specifically about the research around salt for babies and how much they can really handle.
I hear from clients all the time that are concerned about how to limit the salt intake for their baby. The current guidelines just seem so difficult to follow, and often unrealistic given how much salt can be found in common foods. We’ll be talking all about those guidelines, and why we feel there isn’t a need to stress about this as much as some may have you believe. We’ll talk about how your diet at home may influence how much you need to be concerned about salt for your baby, what the research really says when it comes to what harm may be caused by salt, and what this means for you when serving solids to your baby - hint-hint: you definitely do NOT have to stress as much about this as you may think!

11 Mar 2021 | #45: Understanding the readiness signs for starting solids: Purees & baby led weaning | 00:28:30
In this episode, I’m dissecting all of the readiness signs for starting solids! These developmental signs are crucial for your baby to be ready to begin eating solid foods. I’ll even start by busting one myth now, the signs are the same for both puree feeding and baby led weaning. It doesn’t matter how you’re choosing to start feeding, your baby needs to have ALL of these signs, before you begin, to ensure their body is ready, and that feeding will be as safe as it can be.
After I go through all of the signs, I’m also going to dive a bit deeper into the signs that usually result in a lot of questions from parents. Some of them can be confusing, and there’s certainly no shortage of explanations available online, and not all of them are correct, so I’m also going to be busting some more myths in this episode too!
As always, if you get value from this episode, please subscribe, rate and review it on Apple Podcasts. And share it with your friends who are also starting solids with their baby, the more people that have easy access to this info, the better!

18 Mar 2021 | #46: The best fish for your baby (and which to avoid) | 00:34:31
In this episode, I’m revealing the extensive research I’ve done on the topic of fish for babies. I include what I find out about which fish is the safest, which should be avoided completely, and how often certain fish can safely be served. Fish has many nutritional benefits, and it’s a top allergen, so serving it beginning at 6 months of age is definitely the recommendation. But certain fish are better options than others, and trying to figure out which you can safely serve can be a bit overwhelming.
I’ve done all the research for you, examined a huge variety of fish, looked at mercury levels, and created a complete outline for which fish to serve most frequently, which to serve sometimes, and which to avoid altogether. You can find my complete cheat sheet for this listed below to download!
If you get value from this episode, please remember to subscribe, rate and review it at Apple Podcasts. And make sure you share this with your friends, there’s a lot of misinformation floating around out there when it comes to fish for babies, so this research needs to be available to more parents!

01 Apr 2021 | #48: Is it ever ok to limit food for your baby/toddler? | 00:27:52
In this episode, I’m answering a question from the audience, and it’s one that I get A LOT! “If my toddler (or baby) eats all of their favourite food, but doesn’t touch anything else on their plate, and wants more of their favourite...do I just give it to them?” And the short answer to this question is: yes! Your toddler gets to decide how much of what is offered that they want to eat - including none at all.
However, there are exceptions to every rule...so when would it be okay to actually place some limits on their food intake? I chat about that in this episode, and explain what we want to consider before placing those limits. I go over the idea of limiting food from a parent’s perspective, and from a toddler’s - this helps to understand why limiting foods can be harmful in certain situations.

In this final episode of Season 2, I bring on my dietetic intern, Caitlin, to chat about gardening with your toddler. She shares about why she decided to start gardening with her son, what the benefits are, changes that she’s seen, and her tips on how to get started. I know it sounds like a daunting task to have your toddler help out with such a big activity, but it really does have so many developmental benefits, not to mention the benefits that can be seen if your toddler is picky around certain foods - particularly veggies!
Remember how I’ve shared in the past all the positives that can come from food exploration for your toddler? Gardening is a really fun, hands on way to get that exploration in, without any pressure to eat - it’s just a fun way for them to play in the dirt, and help you at the same time, two things toddlers love!

She has a passion for supporting local and sourcing her food products as close to home as possible – which led to her passion for gardening!
Aside from her professional activities, Caitlin values family above all and you can typically find her spending any free time she has with her husband and her five-year-old son, Asher. Some of her favorite activities include hiking, gardening (of course), and spending time enjoying local cuisine.
Having a son of her own, she knows firsthand the challenges that come along if picky eating sets in. One of her areas of interest is infant and child nutrition, and learning how to make mealtimes more manageable for families.

06 May 2021 | #51: How to keep and make new mom friends with Danielle Bayard Jackson of Friend Forward | 00:33:42
In this first episode of Season 3, I have the pleasure of speaking with Danielle Bayard Jackson, publicist and friendship coach. She is also the founder of Friend Forward, a membership for women aimed at creating better female friendships. Maintaining my friendships has always been a struggle for me, particularly since becoming a mom, and I find I often overthink everything to do with these relationships. And after speaking to a lot of other moms, I found this was super common!
So to kick off our self-care week here at MLE in honour of Mother’s Day coming up, I decided to chat with Danielle all about the changes that happen to friendships when you become a mom, how to cope with those changes, and most importantly, I think, how to reframe friendships in our mind to realize that they are actually a necessity, not just a bonus. This was a huge one for me personally, I find that I tend to push, not only self-care, but time with my friends aside in favour of getting more checkmarks on my to-do list. Learning the research behind why friendships are actually crucial for us really helps me to prioritize them and stop looking at them as a “nice to have, if I have time”.
Please head over to whichever platform you listen on and subscribe to the podcast so you never miss an episode! And remember to go to Apple Podcasts in order to leave a rating and review - this is so important to ensure that this podcast can continue, and can reach more parents like yourself.

08 May 2021 | Bonus: Mom Burnout – What it is and How to Stop it with Dr. Brooke Weinstein | 00:34:02
In this special bonus episode of the My Little Eater Podcast, I have the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Brooke Weinstein, an Occupational Therapist turned Mom Coach. She is on a mission to help moms deal with the wild ride that is motherhood, and shows them how they can create a life they truly love, while continuing to be the amazing mother they already are!
Today we chat about mom burnout, something that I know a lot of mothers are familiar with, have experienced, and may actually be going through right now in fact. We talk about the signs of burnout, how to recognize it, and what to do about it. She even provides her top tip for effectively using self-care to fill your cup.
I know that I’ve been there before, I’ve experienced the sheer exhaustion of burnout, and I have felt that helplessness of not knowing what to do and how to make things better. I promise you, this episode will help you with all of that, I learned a few things that I’ll be using myself as well. Meet Dr. Brooke:
Brooke Weinstein OTD, OTR/L is here to get real about Mamahood, tips, and tricks to childhood development, and how to live in your mama truth. Brooke is a Doctor of occupational therapy. With over a decade of experience, Brooke built a thriving business in New Orleans called Therapeutic Learning Center which focused on treating the child and educating the entire family on coping skills and strategies to manage the societal challenges children face.
With life experience, having two preemies, running a business (and household), Brooke began to feel the struggles of motherhood, being stretched too thin. This ultimately led to Brooke selling her business, stepping away to readjust her priorities, and focus more on her own family at home.
“We as mothers need support and guidance to get through this life. It’s simply too much to do on our own. Having support as a mother is what our children need most in this world to thrive.”
Brooke’s expertise in child development, sensory regulation, and parental connection, led Brooke to begin coaching Mama’s and families through this difficult phase of life. 13 May 2021 | #52: When to stop modifying foods that are choking risks | 00:23:27
In this episode, I chat about choking hazards - this is a hugely terrifying topic for many parents, and I really want you to feel confident that you’re offering food in a safe way for your babies and toddlers! One of the most common questions I get about choking hazards is when certain foods are considered safe....when are the suggested modifications no longer necessary?
Today, I dive into this for you, and explain everything from what the current recommendations are, and how foods made the top choking hazards list, to when I recommend reducing modifications, why you should, and how to actually do this in a safe way. I even provide you with numerous examples of a step-by-step process for how to do this, using specific choking hazards.

01 Jun 2021 | #55: What It Feels Like When We Pressure Our Kids at the Table (and Why We Need to Stop) | 00:11:37
In this special quick tip episode, I want you to place yourself in your toddler’s shoes at mealtime. I’ll provide you with a scenario that I want you to imagine, really get into the character, and realize how you’d feel in that position...
Your friend brings you to a restaurant that they’re really raving about - they love it, it’s going to be good, there’s a lot of build up to this special night out. So already you’re feeling the pressure. The chef makes a special meal just for you, they bring it to the table, and it’s a plate of crickets.
Note: for the purposes of this scenario, I want you to pretend that you don’t usually eat this food, and you didn’t even know it was a food despite the fact that we know that in many cultures this is part of their regular diet and is eaten quite often. For this scenario, pretend that you didn’t know and have never had them before.
After serving your plate, the chef joins you and your friend and watches you while you eat - or don’t eat. They’re encouraging you to take a bite, they say it’s so good, you have to try it. The pressure continues to mount, you politely decline, but they keep pushing. How are you feeling if you’re in this scenario? How might you start to act?
Listen in to hear me talk you through the emotions, the forms of pressure, and then I’ll discuss how this relates to your toddler’s picky eating. I want you to understand how it feels for them sometimes at meals, even if we think the food is something that is really good, really common to eat, etc. For them, it could be completely unknown, scary, and not something they’re comfortable with trying. See the parallels? Don’t miss my quick tip for the day to start turning these situations around now!
And as always, please head over to whichever platform you listen at and subscribe to the podcast so you never miss an episode! Remember to go to Apple Podcasts in order to leave a rating and review as well, I appreciate it so much.

03 Jun 2021 | #56: Solo-parenting as a Military Spouse: Parenting on Your Own and the Importance of Community | 00:27:29
In this episode, I have the absolute pleasure of talking with Amy Morris, our Project Director & Community Manager here at My Little Eater™. We discuss her life as a military wife, and her time solo-parenting while her husband is deployed. She has some great tips to share with you for when you’re holding down the fort at home, alone.
We all know parenting isn’t easy, but there can be added challenges as a solo-parent…whether you’re a single parent, or your partner travels for work, or they’re in the military. Solo-parenting means one parent is making all the decisions, and doing ALL the things to raise a child on their own, at least temporarily (because single parenting comes with other unique experiences too). So in honour of Canadian Armed Forces Day, which is celebrated on the first Sunday of June every year, I’m highlighting what it means to be a solo-parent from a military wife’s point of view. We’re talking about parenting on your own, feeding babies and toddlers on your own, and the importance of community.
As always, if you get any value from this episode, please leave me a rating and review on Apple Podcasts! Without these it’s really hard for me to reach more parents like yourself, and I really want to help as many parents as I can - so please leave your thoughts, share about it, and subscribe.

Amy Morris is the Project Director and Community Manager at My Little Eater™. She’s also Mom to two little girls, ages 4 and 2, with another baby on the way. She’s a military spouse who’s just trying to keep everything together, especially when her husband is away for work. She believes in doing the bare minimum when life gets hectic, being proud of all you accomplish as a solo-parent (even if to others it doesn’t look like a lot), and prioritizing the things that will bring you and your kids joy, over other things like dishes and laundry. You can find her in the Little Eaters Club on Facebook, and she’s always willing to give you support if you reach out!

08 Jun 2021 | #57: Get Your Toddler To Eat Meat With These 5 Food Play Ideas! | 00:12:24
In this quick tip episode, I’m letting you in on my top 5 ideas for encouraging your toddler to explore meat! Now, does this mean they’ll definitely eat it? No! But, exploring food, touching food, playing with food... these are all great first steps towards actually eating the food.
When it comes to picky eating, the strategies are not immediate, there is no one magical, quick fix. But, there are really effective strategies that you can use, at home, to help them make progress, and baby steps, towards being adventurous and trying a food that they’d usually ignore. One of those strategies is food play. I go over why it’s so important to let your toddler play with their food - even at the dinner table - and how to do so in a strategic, non-pressured way, to help encourage them, and work towards seeing some success.

In this episode, I reveal one of my favourite ways of cooking food in the summer...it’s barbequing! I’m answering a question that has come up a few times in my DMs: “How do I keep BBQ food healthy and safe for my baby or toddler, or even for myself, from a cancer perspective?” I’ve investigated the best methods to make serving barbeque food to your baby more safe, and I’ll give you all the tips in this episode. I’ll also share with you some fun food ideas that are appropriate for both babies and toddlers.
All of the information I share today is strictly for your knowledge, and at the end of the day, you need to decide what feels best for your family. I will say that we absolutely BBQ all summer, do we do it daily? No, probably not. But I love the benefits of doing so, and truly feel good about this decision for my family. And I want you to use this information so that you can feel good about the decision you make for your family too, whatever that will be.

15 Jun 2021 | #59: Can babies have spices? Which ones? How much? | 00:11:30
In this quick tip episode, I’m busting one of the most common myths I hear about baby food - “Babies can only have bland food!”. Not true! As you may or may not know, I am a huge proponent of offering your baby a variety of foods right from day 1 of starting solids. And to me this means also including a variety of herbs and spices.
So today I’m going to share with you 4 reasons why it’s OK to offer your baby spices, right from their very first solid meal. And I’ll also explain about this window of opportunity that exists for training your baby’s taste buds, and just how I recommend you do so. Finally, I’ll finish off with some easy spice combinations that you can try out at home to take action on this quick tip and start enjoying more flavourful food with your baby today!

17 Jun 2021 | # 60: What My Hubby Thinks of My Feeding Approach, His Role In Feeding, and How To Let Go as a Mom | 00:28:47
This special Father’s Day episode is one that you’re gonna love! I’m honoring the Father’s role in feeding - whatever that may look like - by getting all the details and tips from my own husband, Jimmy Kennedy! Now, usually there’s one parent that’s more invested in the feeding role than the other. However, there is no hard and fast rule around this. Often I see Moms are much more involved in feeding their kids, especially if they’re the ones around them more. It all starts with the first year of life, where Mom may be breastfeeding, or they’re on maternity leave with the baby. They’re the first one starting solids with their baby, or they may be present for more of their meals. But there are more and more families who are making this a joint role, which is amazing to see!
Nowadays, there are many Dads joining the journey of feeding, in fact, we’re seeing an increase in Dads sending us messages asking about our philosophies and teachings. They’ve done the research about feeding and are struggling because their wives want to take a different approach. It can be so challenging trying to find balance between two different approaches. My husband and I touched on this topic briefly today, but I’ll dive in deeper in a podcast that’s coming soon. So please stay tuned! For today though, we’ll share our different approaches to feeding, some tips that helped our kids become independent, adventurous eaters, and some advice for all the new Dads out there.
If you get value from this episode, please leave a rating and a review on Apple Podcasts. This helps me get this podcast out to parents like you who are looking for strategies to help with feeding their babies and toddlers too. 22 Jun 2021 | #61: Should Your Toddler Sit at a Kid’s Table or at the Family Table? | 00:09:36
In today’s quick tip episode, I’m addressing a really common question that I get about whether or not it’s ok to use a kid’s table for toddlers. Montessori style tables where kids can sit at them independently without the need for a booster seat, or high chair, are very popular. And I can definitely see the appeal! So today I’ll break down what I like about them, as well as provide you with the top 4 reasons that I actually don’t recommend them.
Despite the positives that I see from them, like the increased independence and social interaction with other children their own age, there are many reasons why I will always choose to recommend eating together at a family table, over separate tables for kids and adults. Now, I’m not one for an all or nothing approach, you know that! I truly believe you have to decide what works best for your family, and take this information and consider whether changing up how you currently do mealtimes at your house is something you’d like to try.
As always, if you enjoyed this quick tip episode, please leave me a quick review - I read every one! I’d love to hear what you think, or ideas for future episodes, so please head over to Apple Podcasts and leave that info in a review there.

24 Jun 2021 | #62: Do toddlers need bedtime snacks? When to offer them, what types of foods to offer, and when they can be problematic! | 00:26:07
In this episode, I’m answering a question a lot of you have asked... “Do toddlers need bedtime snacks?”. I’m sure this has happened to you, your toddler comes to you just before bed and says: “I’m hungry!”. So, do you give your little one something to eat, or are they just stalling? Today, I’ll clear up any confusion around this topic.
There are a few things to consider when choosing if a bedtime snack is needed, such as when the last time they ate was, and what time they’re going to bed. I’ll explain what the purpose of a bedtime snack is, when it’s warranted, and when it isn’t - that’s right, I don’t always recommend a bedtime snack! However, for the times when a bedtime snack IS actually warranted, I’ll go over some tips to keep in mind, along with any exceptions to the rule. Lastly, I include how to put the snack into your schedule and give you ideas for good bedtime snacks to serve. So, please tune in and find out if your toddler needs a snack before bed, and what to actually serve them if they do!

01 Jul 2021 | #64: How and when to use food chaining for your picky eater with Heidi Miller, SLP | 00:27:15
In this episode, I had the chance to sit down with Heidi Miller, a speech language pathologist who specializes in extreme picky eating. She is also the author of the HMS Feeding Protocol which she uses to treat picky eating and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). She gives us her perspective on using food chaining to ease picky eating with children. She also gives an example of food chaining and shows us how you can get your child to go from eating chicken nuggets, to chicken Milanese!
This episode will give you a little insight into what feeding therapy might look like. But before trying this technique, you might want to determine if your child is simply picky, or if there’s something else at work and they’re a true problem feeder. In some cases, a referral to a feeding specialist may be needed, such as an SLP like Heidi, or an OT - you just want to make sure they specialize in feeding! If you have questions for Heidi, you can DM her on Instagram @hmsfeedingandspeech.

06 Jul 2021 | #65: Plates for babies & toddlers: What age to use them, divided or not, and my favourite plate recommendations | 00:11:28
Today’s quick tip is all about choosing the right plate for your baby or toddler! Parents ask me all the time about what products I recommend for starting solids, and then also for picky eaters - and one of their main concerns is choosing the “right” plate. So today I’m going to share some of my favourites, and my best tips for picking plates for your kiddos.
First, I share all the traits I personally look for when shopping. I’m sure you’ve noticed that the baby section of every store is filled with numerous options for everything - and everything says that it’s recommended, or backed by research, etc. So how do you choose? I’ll give you my list of what to look for when shopping for plates for babies and toddlers, and then also answer the popular question - divided or undivided? Finally, I cover when you should start using them, brand recommendations, and if you really need the ones that suction to the table/tray (spoiler...yes, you probably do!).
As always, if you get value from this episode, please rate and review it at Apple Podcasts! And let me know your favourite plate - maybe there’s another new one out there I’m missing!

08 Jul 2021 | #66: Can babies digest starch? | 00:17:25
In this episode, I’m sharing with you all the research I’ve done on babies and toddlers digesting starch. This is another topic that I’ve been asked about several times by worried parents who are just trying to decide what food is best to serve as a first food for their baby. I’m glad that I can clear up any confusion about grains rotting in a baby's gut - which is the main point of what I’ve been hearing, and is not exactly true!
So it’s time for some myth-busting! Starting with, explaining what starch is, and what food it's found in. You may be surprised...it’s in more foods than just grains, and it would be hard to avoid giving them to your baby. Then, I break down exactly how starch is digested by your baby, and bust that myth that babies can’t digest it. Finally, I get into why it's important to introduce starches at around 6 months of age, rather than waiting until they’re 2 years old.

In this episode, I’m so, so excited to talk with Dr. Becky Kennedy, a very popular clinical psychologist that you probably know from Instagram. Her content really resonates with me, and I just love how confident it makes me feel as a parent, so I wanted you to have the chance to experience it too! The topic we dive into today is, you guessed it, confidence. Here at My Little Eater™, we aim to be there for you to help you feel confident on your feeding journey with your baby, and hopefully this episode will help carry that into other aspects of parenting as well.
Today, Dr. Becky shares a great definition of what confidence is, that’s a little different from the mainstream media, and we talk through how you can use it to feel confident as a parent and to approach confidence building moments with your children. She even runs through a script of what to say when your child comes to the table, and then 2 minutes later, decides they’re done with the meal. She gives you the tools you need to build confidence in your child, while holding firmly to your boundaries. You’ll find out exactly what to expect will happen from using this strategy, and what results you’ll see eventually, with consistency.
I really hope you enjoy this episode with Dr. Becky, and if you get any value at ALL, please head over to Apple Podcasts and subscribe, rate, and review it. 13 Jul 2021 | #67: How to serve peanuts to babies and toddlers | 00:16:11
In this episode, I’m continuing on with my “How to serve…” series, and today I’m talking all about peanuts! This is a food that many parents feel a lot of hesitation about, due to the fact that it’s the top allergen for children in North America. This fact can cause a lot of anxiety for parents, which may result in them delaying the introduction of peanuts, but the newest research tells us we need to introduce them early and often to decrease the chance of an allergy developing. So my goal is to give you all the details on how to do this safely to help relieve some of that anxiety!
Now, most of you will know that I believe the right time for starting solids is when your baby is showing all the developmental signs of readiness. This is typically around 6 months of age, maybe a week or two earlier or later, depending on the child. But, with peanuts, in some cases an allergist may ask you to introduce them even earlier, even around 4 months of age, if there’s a family history of allergy as this may help decrease the chance of an allergy even further. So today, I’ll share how to do this safely from 4 months of age, and then also chat about serving them all the way up to older than 2 years of age. I’ll also be explaining how this all fits into my signature Texture Timeline™ tool for advancing in textures.
So, take a minute and download this episode so you can listen to it when you have a spare 15 minutes, because it’s a must listen for ALL parents! As always, if you get value from this episode, please rate and review it at Apple Podcasts!

I love having access to experts at my finger tips, thanks to Instagram, but at the same time, I recognize that it can cause me a lot of stress, and cause some self-doubt to sneak into my parenting. And from the messages I get on Instagram, the same is happening to you! I hear things like…
“We’re starting solids soon, but I have no idea where to start, and I can’t decide how to feed them!”
OR...
“My toddler is barely eating anything, they’re not growing. I feel like I’ve tried everything, every tip out there. I don’t know what to do.”
If you heard my interview with Dr. Becky at Good Inside last week, then you know she defines confidence as trusting that your feelings are right, and ok, in the absence of certainty. So you don’t question your feelings, you trust in what they’re telling you, and therefore in what you decide to do based on those feelings. This is what I want for you. I want you to know that even if you don’t know what to do, or you feel something an expert is suggesting isn’t a good fit for you, that’s ok. None of this reflects on whether you’re a good parent or not. You’re a good parent whether you know exactly what to do, or not. So, to get that level of confidence, I have ONE tip that is super easy to try, but maybe not always as easy to follow, if I’m being honest. I want you to try it out for a month, and see how it goes. It’s been a life saver for me, and my stress-levels, and I feel much more confident in the choices I make as a parent, as a result.
As always, if you get value from this episode, please remember to subscribe, rate, and review it at Apple Podcasts, it helps me so much and I’m incredibly grateful for it!

22 Jul 2021 | #70: What to say to toddlers to get them to eat (without pressure!) | 00:18:45
In this episode, I run through some examples of what you can say to your toddler to create a no pressure environment that gets them to eat. I give you some tips that will make meal time conversations a breeze, and help encourage your toddler to try new foods. Now, they may not try a new food the very first time it’s offered to them, but with exposure and the phrases I’m sharing with you today, your child will learn a growth mindset and be more open to trying new foods in the future. Following these suggestions will create a pressure free environment that considers your toddler’s feelings, and gets them to explore food at their own pace.
The number one tip I find that works wonders on setting the right environment going into a meal, is to have no agenda of getting them to eat anything. This takes the pressure off of you, as the parent who’s providing the food, and off your toddler, who’s the one deciding how much they want to eat. When you approach mealtime, I want you to think “this is not about eating and nutrition at all” and when you get into that mindset, you can be more neutral in terms of how you speak to them. This removes some of that emotion that may make you say things that can be pressuring. Instead, the focus will now be on using factual statements only. Don’t worry, I’ve got all the examples you need in this episode.
If you find these tips helpful, please take a few minutes to go over to Apple Podcasts to leave a quick review. It would be great to hear from you and get your feedback on this episode, or on the podcast in general. Don’t forget to subscribe, so you don’t miss out on future episodes!

27 Jul 2021 | #71: How to Serve Honey to Your Toddler – AFTER 1 Year of Age | 00:12:26
In this quick tip episode, I’m doing another installment in the “How to serve…” series - and this one comes as a request from a listener...honey! Let’s start by clarifying that honey - in ALL forms - is unsafe for your baby under 1 year of age. I go into why in the episode, so if this is news to you, please make sure you listen to that info because it can actually be very dangerous for babies.
Now, once your baby gets past that 1 year mark...how do you introduce honey to them? Can they just have it as is? I go into all the details for you! From why I recommend actually waiting until 2 years old (if you can), different ideas for serving it safely, when it’s considered a choking hazard, and whether some honeys are considered more nutrient dense than others. As always, this is all backed by research, so you can trust that I’m giving you the best info to ensure you’re keeping your baby safe, while also enjoying this fun stage of letting them test out new foods and flavours!
If you get value from this episode, please remember to subscribe, rate, and review it Apple Podcasts. And since this episode is giving out some really important info on safety for babies, please share it with your friends who also have babies at this stage!

29 Jul 2021 | #72: Help! My toddler won’t feed themself! 6 Tips to encourage self-feeding | 00:23:29
In this episode, I’m talking about what to do when your toddler won’t feed themselves. Sometimes your toddler hasn’t been given a chance to feed themselves because maybe you thought they weren’t taking in enough nutrients on their own, or they were sick and you needed to give them some extra help until they recovered. The fact is, now they’ve come to expect you to feed them, and they aren’t interested in doing it themselves. So regardless of why it happened in the first place, we need to break the cycle and get your toddler to feed themselves soon!
I’m sharing 6 great tips that can help you progress from you feeding your toddler...to them feeding themselves! Pick one or two tips to try first, and remember to be consistent. Be gentle with yourself, and with your toddler. It’s probably going to take some time, but with consistency, your child will develop the desire to feed themselves on their own.
If you get any value from this episode, please leave me a review at Apple Podcasts. I would really appreciate it, and it helps get this podcast out to other parents like you to help them with feeding their toddlers too! Also, please subscribe to get notified when new episodes come out.

05 Aug 2021 | #74: Live Q&A! Solutions for a mom of a picky eater who only eats a few foods | 00:23:09
In this episode, I talk to Emily, a grad of my online courses, about how to bump up the number of foods that her son Elliot eats. He’s always been a little bit of a picky eater, but recently it’s gotten worse and he’s now only eating about 4 foods! Don’t worry though, even though he’s only eating a few bites at each meal, his growth has been normal and he weighs about the same as his twin brother.
Listen in while I go through a mini assessment of what foods Elliot likes, and his eating habits. I find out that his favourite foods seem to be softer, sweeter, carbohydrates. So, we walk through a couple examples of food chaining to try with foods Emily knows that Elliot will eat. Then, I give her ONE MORE strategy to try to target and overcome his picky eating ways.
I hope this episode is helpful and that you can use these tips to improve your mealtimes with your picky eater. Please feel free to reach out to me on Instagram, @mylittleeater, with any questions you have about your little one, and if you have a minute, you can leave me a review at Apple Podcasts. 10 Aug 2021 | #75: SEASON FINALE – My Baby’s a Bottomless Pit! How Do I End Mealtimes while Respecting Hunger Cues? | 00:13:02
In the Season 3 finale, I’m sharing another clip from my most recent coaching call with one of my course grads. I had the pleasure of speaking with Megan about her 1 year old son, and let me tell you, her question is a common one!
Many parents message me concerned about their child’s portion sizes - I hear worries from both ends of the spectrum...either they’re eating seemingly so little, or so much the meal feels never-ending. In Megan’s case, her son is eating for at least 40-45 minutes per meal, with no end in sight - and let’s be real here - no one has time for that 3 times a day! Megan’s biggest concern is honouring her son’s hunger and fullness cues, while still keeping mealtimes to a reasonable time frame. So, how do you strike that balance? Listen in to find out my recommendation!
If you get value from this episode, please remember to subscribe, rate, and review it at Apple Podcasts. And since this episode is answering such a common concern among parents, please share it with your friends so they can test out my recommendation as well!

09 Sep 2021 | #76: How to Spoon Feed Purees Using the Baby Led Feeding Method | 00:16:29
In this episode of the My Little Eater Podcast, I teach you how to spoon feed purees to your 6 month old baby - the baby led feeding way! This may seem intuitive to you, and not like something you need to be taught at all...BUT there are some tricks to doing this in a responsive way that respects your baby’s internal hunger cues, and allows for proper oral motor skill development.
You see, many of us spoon feed purees the same way that we’ve seen on television, or how other parents around us have done so. And often this might include games to distract the baby into accepting the spoon, such as… “Open up for the airplane! VROOOOMMM!”. Or, we may put the spoon in their mouth and automatically swipe up, and then clean their chin off with the spoon. These are examples of some really common things that parents do, but are they actually helpful for your baby who’s just learning about starting solids? Unfortunately, not really. That’s why I’m going over the steps that I’d like to see you take when spoon feeding your baby. Following these steps will assist with their development, food exploration, and will encourage them to self-feed sooner rather than later (which is the ultimate goal!).
If you find this information helpful, please leave a rating and review at Apple Podcasts (and don’t forget to subscribe so you never miss an episode!). And please share this episode with another parent about to start solids with their baby - puree feeding is a great way to begin and these tips will get them started on the right foot!

16 Sep 2021 | #77: How to stop your baby or toddler from mouth stuffing! | 00:20:31
In this episode, I break down a very common concern among parents….mouth stuffing! I’m willing to bet that at one point or another you’ve seen your baby or toddler with cute little “chipmunk cheeks”. But, that moment of “Aww they’re so adorable!” is quickly replaced with panic when you think about how much food they’ve stuffed into their mouth, and how unsafe that must be for them!
That’s why I wanted to take some time and really break this problem down so we can understand why this happens, the purpose that it serves (there are some pros to this, so stay with me!), how we can help them get through this phase, and what we can do to discourage this behaviour when we witness them doing it. I’m covering it all in this episode, so get ready to take some notes because this short episode is jam-packed (kinda like your baby’s cheeks ;) ) with lots of tips!
If you get value from this episode, please remember to leave a rating and review at Apple Podcasts - I read every single one - and don’t forget to subscribe while you’re there. Finally, pass along this info to your friends, like I said, I’m willing to bet almost every parent has seen this before, so they’ll benefit from these tips too.

23 Sep 2021 | #78: Sugar or Sugar-Free Baby Smash Cake for a First Birthday? | 00:16:16
In this episode, we’re talking all about first birthdays because it’s BIRTHDAY WEEK here at My Little Eater™! We’re celebrating four years as MLE, and I wanted to weigh in on this really popular topic for your sweet baby’s first birthday milestone... sugar or sugar-free smash cake, what’s better? Typically, I see opinions fall either very strongly on the sugar-free side, or very strongly on the sugar-filled side - so where do I fall on the spectrum? I’m a little more in-between!
Listen in to hear what the actual nutritional recommendations are when it comes to offering sugar at 1 year old, why it’s really ok if you opt not to go the sugar-free route, what I decided for my own boys, and whether or not I would change my mind if doing it all over again today. Here’s the thing, at MLE we never judge or criticize your decisions as parents - you know what’s best for your family - so you won’t catch any of that here. But you will be able to hear both sides of this argument, and better be able to assess what exactly will work for your family. Plus, as an added bonus, you can download my favourite added sugar-free smash cake recipe below - because I’ll be honest, a lot of them are kinda gross.
As always, if you get value from this episode, please leave a rating and review at Apple Podcasts! And, I’d love for you to share some pictures of your baby enjoying their first birthday cake (and if you use my smash cake recipe, let me know your thoughts!) by tagging me on Instagram - these pictures are always so sweet! 14 Oct 2021 | #81: Understanding your child’s growth chart | 00:25:43
On this episode of the My Little Eater Podcast, I’m digging into what the true purpose of your baby’s growth chart (or toddler's) is, and what it tells you about their health and growth. Growth charts seem to be either an exciting or a stressful thing for parents, depending on where their child lands on the growth curves. And this is basically because most times, how your child is growing and reaching developmental milestones, all have to do with their overall health.
This podcast covers what exactly growth curves and growth percentiles are, what it means if your child falls in the 5th percentile vs. the 95th percentile, and when you should truly start to worry, or seek further medical opinions.
As always, if you find this podcast helps answer your questions about feeding your baby or toddler, please leave a rating and review at Apple Podcasts! 21 Oct 2021 | #82: Everything you need to know about RSV and your baby | 00:20:31
On this episode of the My Little Eater Podcast, I’m so excited to have Dr. Nkeiruka Orajiaka, a board certified pediatrician join me to chat about all things RSV and what to look for if you think your baby has it. With the cold and flu season upon us, now is the perfect time to learn more about what RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is, what the typical RSV symptoms are, how to prevent it and when to seek medical care. RSV in babies can be very, very dangerous, mostly because unlike adults, their little bodies just aren’t ready to battle the congestion and breathing difficulties that can follow.
I’ll be the first to admit, when my boys were young I truly didn’t know the difference between RSV and the common cold, but with all the craziness lately with COVID, it’s so important to be diligent! And that’s why I know this information will be so valuable to all of you!
As always, if you find this podcast helps answer your questions about feeding your baby or toddler, please leave a rating and review at Apple Podcasts! I value each and every one of you, and nothing makes me happier than hearing how my podcast impacts you! By leaving a review and rating, your name gets added into a weekly draw for a 15 minute 1-on-1 video session with me, so you can get tailored advice to tackle any feeding problem that pops up. Make sure to leave your Instagram handle, so I can find you if you’re the lucky winner :)

28 Oct 2021 | #83: Is A2 milk the best milk for your toddler? | 00:30:48
On this episode of the My Little Eater Podcast, Stephanie Alexandre from Alexandre Dairy Farm will be joining me to chat about something you may be hearing more about lately, and that’s A2 milk! We talk about what A2 milk is, how it’s different from the traditional cows milk most supermarkets carry, if it’s a good milk for toddlers and babies, the health benefits of it and it’s potential link to lactose intolerance and dairy intolerances.
I’ll be honest, I’ve heard about A2 milk briefly, and read a few articles about it, but my knowledge around it was pretty limited. But now that I’ve learned so much, it’s actually something I’ll be paying much more attention to in the future and I’m excited to share with you everything I learned from chatting with Stephanie, and her views on what is being named “the digestible dairy”.
If you find this podcast has been a great resource, and helps answer your questions about feeding your baby or toddler, please leave a rating and review at Apple Podcasts! I’m currently doing a draw for a $100 Amazon gift card for everyone who leaves a review on the podcast, so head over and get your review submitted soon! 04 Nov 2021 | #84: Balancing breastfeeding on demand and solid foods | 00:19:24
On this episode of the My Little Eater Podcast, I’ll be talking about how to balance breastfeeding on demand with solid foods - right from 6 months and into toddlerhood! Breastfeeding on demand, also known as responsive feeding and feeding on demand, is recommended up to 6 months of age at least, but what about when you begin introducing solid foods?
It’s safe to say, we all know continued breastfeeding is recommended by the World Health Organization past 6 months and well into toddlerhood. This means you have to consider how the relationship between solid foods and milk feedings changes as your baby continues to grow and requires the bulk of their nutrition from solid foods. It’s all about finding a balance that works for you, your baby, and meets their nutritional needs best! Listen in to learn how to manage solid food offerings and milk feedings according to age, and how to best honour continued breastfeeding on demand past 6 months, 12 months and beyond!
Don’t miss out on the draw I’m doing for a $100 Amazon gift card - all you have to do is head over to Apple Podcasts and leave a review to be entered! Oh, and make sure to leave your Instagram handle so I can find you if you’re the winner :)

11 Nov 2021 | #85: Ending Guilt Around Formula Feeding With The Formula Mom | 00:35:59
On this episode of the My Little Eater Podcast, I’m so excited to chat with Mallory Whitmore, also known as The Formula Mom, to really dig into the world of baby formula and the (unfortunate) shame associated with it. Mallory and I both experienced the guilt so many moms out there feel when they choose to use baby formula and bottle feed vs. struggling through breastfeeding when it just wasn’t working.
In this episode, we talk about all the things you want to know about formula feeding, like why it is so stigmatized, why it’s not okay to make moms feel less worthy than those who can breastfeed, and why support for moms who choose to formula feed is needed - desperately! We discuss the common myths about the different kinds of baby formulas on the market and how to choose the right one that works for you - after all, there isn’t a one size fits all approach here!
Will you help me make sure valuable episodes like these make it the parents who need them most? All you need to do is head over to Apple Podcasts and leave a review, I’ll be forever grateful!

18 Nov 2021 | #86: How and Why to Get Kids Cooking at an Early Age! | 00:25:19
This week's episode is all about getting your kids cooking, and I couldn’t think of a better person to help me cover this topic than Katie Kimball of Kids Cook Real Food. Katie and I both agree - getting your kids in the kitchen as early as possible (and safely of course) can have SO many benefits, and instill lifelong skills that will follow them and flourish as they grow.
I know from experience the benefits my family has had with getting my kids in the kitchen as early as I could! My boys can both cook exceptionally well (arguably better than me, but don’t tell them that) and I can say confidently it’s because I always included them during meal prep, even with the little tasks. Listen in to learn about the most popular question Katie and I get - what age can I start involving my child? Plus, what tasks they can do, how to progress and grow their cooking skills and how to entice them to get involved when they don’t seem interested. Ps. if you have a picky eater, this episode has some helpful tips for you too :)
If you found this episode or any of my episodes helpful, and you know other parents will benefit from them, head over to Apple Podcasts and leave a review, I’ll be forever grateful! Reviews help make sure the episodes make it to parents just like you, who want to raise a happy, healthy eater!

In this episode I’m going to be giving you some practical tips to handle common feeding struggles that happen during the holidays, including how to address negative comments you might get from family members about your child’s eating habits. Arguably one of the most common things I hear from parents is dreading when they have to go to a large family dinner, already anticipating the clash of different feeding styles everyone has. This can be tough - especially if you have a picky eater and you’ve been working hard on their feeding habits!
Sometimes it can seem easier to just avoid going to get togethers so you don’t have to deal with it, but it doesn’t have to be this way! Listen to my 5 tips that I know will give you the confidence to handle those negative comments and struggles that come up with grace! Remember that the holidays are about love and the feeling of togetherness, and my wish for you is to be able to enjoy holiday dinner with your family!

06 Jan 2022 | #93: Why Does my Toddler Eat Differently at Daycare than at Home? | 00:18:44
Now that the holidays are over, your family is likely getting back into a routine, and most toddlers are returning to daycare outside of the home. It never fails that every year I get comments from parents like “ Why does my toddler eat so well at daycare, but is such a picky eater at home?” or “HELP! Daycare is concerned about my toddler eating so little at meals and snack time!”
If you have a toddler who literally won’t touch meals at home with a ten foot pole, it can have you questioning if your food is awful, and wondering what the heck they put in the daycare food to make it so magical that your toddler clears their plate. On the flip side, you may be a parent of a toddler who won’t touch anything at daycare, not even the food they typically eat at home - nothing can be more stressful than the thought of your toddler getting no nutrition all day. But, the kicker is.. it isn’t always about the flavour or quality of the food itself, but a combination of other things that play a part in their intake. In this episode I really dig into how the structure of daycare, the peer environment and your toddler’s natural eating patterns can all play a huge role in how much they tend to eat at daycare vs home. Plus, some tips for those who are struggling with the stress of how little their toddler eats at daycare.

13 Jan 2022 | #94: How to Build Healthy Toddler Meals and Snacks Using the FFP Formula | 00:30:12
Let’s tackle one of my most commonly asked questions - and that’s how to build healthy toddler meals and snacks that are filling, and well balanced. In this episode I’m going to be giving you the details on My Little Eater’s signature formula for how to build meals for toddlers the way a dietitian mom would! It really is the easiest way to check off all the boxes nutritionally and keep your toddler full until their next meal, so they aren’t constantly left hungry and asking for snacks shortly after eating.
My Little Eater’s FFP formula is a favourite amongst graduates of my Feeding Toddlers online course (now on sale for 20% off!), because it’s also so easy to remember and takes the guesswork out of meal planning! Anytime MLE parents are packing lunches, doling out a snack or meal planning for a couple days, they just have to remember this simple FFP formula and can easily mix-and-match foods that work to fit the framework without ever doubting if it’s balanced enough. In the episode, I provide detailed food ideas that fall into each of the “FFP” categories so you can get started right away!

23 Jan 2022 | #95: How to Get Your Toddler Eating More Vegetables | 00:21:22
In this episode I’m going to be covering the million dollar question - and that’s how to get your toddler eating more vegetables! As parents, you know vegetables seem to be your worst enemy. Whether you have a picky eater or not, they just seem to be that one food that's literally impossible to get into your toddlers diet. But there are things we may be unintentionally doing that actually prevents them from trying them and ultimately eating them in the long run.
Let’s face it, veggies technically don’t always taste that good, are kind of a weird texture and are ALWAYS the focal point of the meal, as many parents overemphasize them as the one food on the plate that their toddler should eat. So today I wanted to cover how to change your mindset on approaching veggies with your toddler by giving you my tips on when and how often to serve them, how to talk to your toddler about them and how to find fun in serving veggies. It does take consistency, and a bit of a mindset shift…BUT…all these tips are stepping stones for getting your toddler eating them in the long run - which is totally your goal!

31 Jan 2022 | #96: How do I Pick a Healthy Cracker for my Baby? | 00:21:44
Today’s episode is all about healthy crackers for babies and toddlers, including what factors I consider when choosing the best crackers for your little one! Crackers can be a great finger food for your baby if you’re starting with baby led weaning, especially as a vehicle to eat those tougher purée textured foods like peanut butter, potatoes, hummus, puréed meat, mashed beans (the possibilities are endless here!) and make an easy grab and go snack for your toddler on busy days.
When it comes to picking the best crackers to offer your child, there are some key things to consider.. like what or how many ingredients they have, the salt and sugar content and if they have the nutritional components to be a truly healthy snack option. But as busy parents, you don’t have time to look at the nutrition label of each and every brand - there’s just too many crackers out there!
Download my FREE cracker guide that takes out all the guessing work, and gives comprehensive lists by age of the best crackers to serve, the runner up and the ones you should avoid if possible! I’ve used all the tips I cover in this episode to really fine tune this guide, so make sure to check the link below to get your copy!
