08 Apr 2024The Tweak This Week - Winter 2024 - Week 400:38:26

Join Gina and Program Manager Kim as they answer your questions and break down the tweak that we see in The Program this week. This is the live recording from February 7, 2024. You can find the full video hosted at:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/livymethodwinter2024

Topics covered:

  • The tweaks are meant to address "all the things" both physically and mentally.
  • Downsizing is about giving your body what it needs and being more in tune to the right amount of food for you.
  • Counting, weighing, and measuring your foods is not a sustainable method to lose weight in a healthy way!
  • This week's tweak is designed to bring up the feelings and associations we have with portions and hunger.
  • It's less about eating less: We really want to better understand our body's cues for satisfied and less satisfied.
  • Are you wondering if you are doing downsizing or not doing it? @ 10:08
  • Don't overthink it! Serve yourself all of the same components, dig into the 4 Questions, and listen to your body.
  • Distinguishing two different forms of "appealing" foods: The ones we crave/want and the ones the body needs.
  • Getting satisfaction: it's about developing a level of trust in your body.
  • Feeling in the moment and noticing the cues your body may be heading into detox.
  • Kim and Gina discuss what "slightly less" is all about.
  • Feeling triggered? Downsizing will bring up all of the feels we have around food, past diets, and hunger.
  • Get out of your head and into your belly!
  • Going back for seconds after checking in on how you feel is a good practice to deploy when downsizing.
  • Downsizing is not about less and less; it's about getting in tune to portions and how you feel, not what they look like.
  • Learning from your experiences and trusting that you have another snack or meal coming down the pipeline.
  • Feeling too full? You may want to lighten up what you are choosing to eat.
  • Water does nothing to satisfy an appetite!
  • You may miss the messages of your body when distracted, tired, or eating too quickly.
  • Choosing the right foods at the right time.
  • Be sure to review the downsizing tweak but also know that you don't have to be perfect. You get to do it again in two weeks!
  • Next Week: We are maximizing and eating to satisfaction as we become even more in tune to portions.
  • Meeting yourself where you are at in the process: practice those mindful eating questions.
  • Got ideas about how to downsize? Share your tips in the Downsizing Tips post!

  • Weight loss is hard and there is a lot more you can do to be proactive.
  • This is your opportunity to work through the tough stuff of dieting: cut yourself some slack when life is hard.
  • Setbacks give you a chance to step back and get some perspective.
  • Mondays are not "start again.”
  • The power of asking yourself 'what is getting in the way of me being here in the end?"
  • Scale fluctuations are not real weight gain and why plateaus are opportunities to lean into the weekly tweaks.
  • Reassessing right now: what do I need to focus on?
  • Calories in and calories out? Healthy and sustainable weight loss is so much more than that!
  • Being more active is great because we need more muscle mass as we age.
  • Knowing and Doing are very different things: Now's the time to act!
  • Don't be afraid of fruit! Choose it because it's appealing not because it's sweet.
  • Let's talk about reflecting on your progress so far and where your WHY is at now.
  • Weekends knocking you off your game? It's a good opportunity to ask what you need to adjust in your routine.
  • Are you all in? You will either quit or follow through and finish the 91 days strong.
  • Comments from others reflect them; how we respond and feel about those comments reflects on us.
  • Today is the day: what can you do to follow through on what's important to you?

  • Long plateaus and the importance of them
  • The effects of processed foods (or foods we may be sensitive to) and how they leave us feeling
  • Plateaus - what length of time is considered normal and what do plateaus tell us?

  • You don’t have to do all of the things, you need to do all of the things your body needs you to do. This will be individual for each us

09 Apr 2024The Tweak This Week - Winter 2024 - Week 900:36:01

Join Gina and Program Manager Kim as they answer your questions and break down the tweak that we see in The Program this week. This is the live recording from March 13, 2024.

You can find the full video hosted at:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/livymethodwinter2024

Topics covered:

  • With the Tweak This Week, we are changing things up and phasing off the basic Food Plan
  • Reviewing where members are at this week and some of the struggles they’re facing
  • The importance of continuing to be mindful and asking ourselves the Mindfullness questions - not just adding fat and protein without being mindful of the total composition of our meals and snacks
  • A spoonful of nut butter is not a snack on its own! Hemp hearts are a great addition to add healthy fat and protein
  • This week is not Keto. We are bumping up nutrient value by adding some fat and protein - the focus of our snack remains the same
  • We are going from two afternoon snacks to one by bumping up the nutrient value of our one snack with added protein and healthy fat
  • As we move on, we don’t want to be following a schedule but instead, be checking in and assessing what we need throughout the day
  • How much protein is enough? This isn’t a deprivation diet where things are limited. When following The Livy Method, you are getting the protein your body needs
  • The importance of trying the tweak even if you’re feeling concerned about going down to one afternoon snack
  • Digging deeper into the afternoon snack and how it should be put together
  • Why we don’t count grams of protein and how we learn to be in tune with our body’s needs in the moment
  • When we’re adding in protein and fat, we’ll naturally find the portion size that satiates us decreasing
  • There is no right or wrong way to approach the tweak this week
  • Looking deeper into the snacks this week - discussing high-quality protein powders, if you want to include them
  • The benefits to starting your day with a higher protein breakfast
  • We’re looking to minimize heavier carbs this week. If you want to add them in, lunch is still the best option for them
  • This week’s tweak is setting us up for Personalizing the Plan in the coming weeks
  • Next week we will be introducing Back On Track - a tool to help us get back at it when things go off the rails

  • Your body is your greatest cheerleader! Your body is NOT trying to screw you over!
  • Are you for real right now?
  • We want to get better at asking the 4 Questions from our belly, not our brain.
