Welcome to episode 91. I am joined by Nicky Clinch, Maturation Coach & Facilitator, Spiritual Mentor, CEO & Entrepreneur. Her mission in life is to help people break free of the confines of their past traumas, self-defeating patterns and suffering so that they can realise, and come home to, who they truly are.

Nicky shares how maturation supports us to be present with and heal trauma so that the wounded stop inflicting wounds on the wounded.

We speak candidly on how this work helps people dismantle racism, become actively anti-racist and close the gap on separation.

There are many mic drop moments in this conversation about the messiness that is coming home to alignment.

Who are you with when you feel these sensations of safety?

Where are you when you feel them?

What are you doing?

I also mention my Sovereign group coaching experience which is open for enrolment until Friday 17th December 2021. Details here.

18 Mar 2020Holding space for the present.00:25:17

In this podcast episode, I talk about the importance of presence for your present. Holding space for where you are now and not limiting the space that lies within the present by spending too much time lamenting the past or chasing and placing burdensome pressure on a future we don't believe in!

18 Sep 2024Liberation from the Spell of Trauma with Effie Kli01:04:59

Welcome to another enlightening episode of The Liberated Woman Podcast! Today, I’m delighted to be joined by Effie Kli, a trauma specialist whose work in somatic trauma healing has profoundly impacted many lives.

Effie’s approach centres on helping people awaken from the spell of trauma so they can live with vitality rather than simply coping with life.

In this episode, we explore how trauma manifests in our bodies, the societal conditioning that leads to emotional neglect, and the importance of learning to be present with our somatic experiences.

Effie shares valuable insights into living vibrantly, even with unresolved issues, and offers practical advice on beginning the journey towards somatic healing. We also delve into the relationship between our connections with men and money, and how these often mirror each other in surprising ways.

Key Topics Discussed:

  • Trauma and Emotional Neglect: We discuss the widespread impact of systemic oppression, particularly patriarchy, on emotional neglect and how it hinders our ability to live fully.
  • Societal Conditioning and Hyper-Independence: Effie and I examine the dangers of society’s obsession with hyper-independence and how it contradicts our inherent need for connection.
  • The Role of Somatic Healing: Effie highlights the importance of tuning into our bodies and shares how somatic practices can help us reconnect with ourselves.
  • Relationships and Money: We explore the fascinating link between our relationships with men and our relationship with money, showing how they often reflect similar patterns.
  • Practical Steps for Liberation: Effie provides actionable steps for listeners to begin their journey of somatic healing and personal liberation.

Quotes to Remember:

“Trauma decontextualised in a family looks like family traits. Trauma in a people looks like culture.” — Resmaa Menakem

“Your anxiety might be a sign that the environment you’re in is not the right one for you.” — Effie Klee

More about Effie Kli:

As a child, Effie believed she had the perfect childhood until a sudden family loss at age ten turned her life upside down. To cope with the trauma, she developed coping mechanisms like hypervigilance, perfectionism, and workaholism, mistaking them for her personality. For nearly two decades, she lived in survival mode without realising it.

It wasn’t until a period of high anxiety and panic attacks, despite her seemingly perfect life, that Effie began to question her reality. Diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder, she initially turned to medication, but when the anxiety returned, she sought deeper solutions. Discovering the concept of trauma, she realised her body was responding normally to past experiences.

Somatic healing transformed her life, leading her to train in somatic-based and trauma-informed modalities. Since then, Effie has helped hundreds of people through workshops, private sessions, and her 12-week signature programme, Healing Trauma Guided by the Body. Her passion lies in helping others trust their bodies, believe in their capacity to heal, and move from stuckness to vitality.

14 Jul 2024When Your Strong Mindset Makes You Fumble The Bag00:36:30

In this solo episode of The Liberated Woman podcast, I explore how a strong mindset can sometimes hinder growth aka 'fumble the bag' by making us hold on to outdated commitments.

I share insights from my journey of writing my book, emphasising the need to let go of the old to embrace new opportunities.

I discuss the importance of listening to our bodies, setting healthy boundaries, and prioritising personal fulfilment over perfection.

Key Points:
  • Strong Mindset Challenges: A strong mindset can impede growth by causing us to cling to outdated commitments.
  • Personal Journey: Writing my book solidified my values and beliefs, highlighting the need for evolution.
  • Evolving Offers: Recognising when to update professional offerings to align with personal growth.
  • Listening to the Body: Acknowledging physical and emotional signals as indicators for change.
  • Healthy Boundaries: Essential for self-preservation and maintaining energy.
  • Fulfilment Over Perfection: Prioritising personal fulfilment and rest over the relentless pursuit of perfection.
Takeaways:
  1. Start paying attention to your body. That exhaustion isn't a sign of weakness – it's a call for rest. It has nothing to do with how organised you are or a sign that you need to work on time management. Honour your body before it forces you to stop.
  2. Create healthy boundaries. Saying no isn't selfish; it's self-preservation. Protect your energy like you protect your most prized possession.
  3. Make rest a regular practice. Explore the seven types of rest – physical, mental, emotional, social, sensory, creative, and spiritual. Experiment and find what replenishes you.
  4. Challenge your beliefs. If "more" is always better, what does "enough" look like for you? How can you prioritise fulfilment over exhaustion? The word exhaustion can also be exchanged for perfection.

02 Nov 2024From Perfectionism to Progress: Understanding the deep roots of perfectionism and how to break free00:49:58

Hello and welcome to another episode of The Liberated Woman podcast.

Before we get into it I cordially invite you to join me in laying the foundation for a 2025 that feels GOOD at my "Dream Big, Plan Smart: Ultimate 2025 planning workshop on 28th December 2024. Details here, be quick for the mega earlybird! Click here [LINK]

Today I'm exploring a topic that shows up for so many women, especially high-achieving, ambitious women who feel the pull toward growth and transformation. Today, I am exploring the deep roots of perfectionism, what drives it, why it’s so persistent, and how it affects us not only mentally but also physically and emotionally.

Perfectionism is a theme that I encounter constantly in my work, whether it’s within my membership community, my group coaching programmes, or my 1-2-1 client sessions. For many of us, the need to get things ‘just right’ can be a significant block, preventing us from reaching our true potential. Perfectionism holds us back, not just in the pursuit of our goals but in our ability to live authentically and experience real freedom.

In this episode, we’ll look at perfectionism not as a simple personality trait but as a coping mechanism, something deeply embedded in our psychology, our somatic experience, and even our neurobiology. I’ll share insights from my background in social work, my training in somatic coaching, and my passion for Polyvagal Theory to help illuminate the patterns behind perfectionism. We’ll also consider how societal conditioning, systemic pressures, and our own survival instincts make us feel that if we’re not perfect, we’re not enough.

As an intersectional feminist and advocate for women’s empowerment, I’m passionate about helping us break free from these patterns and reclaim our power.

Key discussion points:

What perfectionism really is:

Perfectionism is often viewed as a personality trait, but it goes much deeper. At its core, it’s a coping mechanism that protects us from feeling vulnerable or judged. It can even become a state of survival, where the nervous system adapts to high alert as a new “normal.” As I discuss, this survival mode can morph into a permanent state, affecting how we experience the world and navigate challenges.

The neurobiology and somatic impact of perfectionism:

Using insights from Polyvagal Theory, I explain how our nervous system influences our thoughts, emotions, and actions. Chronic perfectionism often means we are stuck in a cycle of fight, flight, or freeze, which can drain our energy and lead to exhaustion. When we’re in this state, our brains interpret even minor mistakes as threats to our safety, making the pursuit of “perfect” feel essential for survival. I discuss research showing how chronic anxiety impacts the body, keeping us in a hyper-alert state and creating symptoms that go far beyond mental strain.

Perfectionism, shame, and self-compassion:

Drawing on the work of Dr. Kristin Neff, we explore the connection between perfectionism and shame. Perfectionism often traps us in a cycle of feeling ‘not enough,’ where every mistake seems like a declaration of failure or inadequacy. Dr. Neff’s research on self-compassion offers an alternative to this harmful cycle, helping us see our worth beyond our achievements and freeing us from the armour of perfectionism.

Perfectionism as an ‘addiction’ to control:

Drawing from the work of Dr. Gabor Maté, I examine how perfectionism can resemble an addiction. It serves as a way to soothe stress and discomfort, but in reality, it keeps us stuck in a state of control that is ultimately limiting. Society teaches us to avoid discomfort and to ‘think positive,’ which can prevent us from developing the resilience to manage difficult emotions. As Dr. Maté explains, addiction is often a response to suffering, and perfectionism can function in much the same way.

Client Story:

I share the journey of a client who came to me wanting to expand her business but felt paralysed by perfectionism. In our work together, she realised that perfection was an illusion and began to embrace a more authentic, bold version of herself. She went from “Sandy at the start of Grease” to her true “Rizzo” self, taking meaningful action, embracing her strengths and imperfections, and experiencing significant growth in her business and personal life.

I’m challenging you to look beyond the surface and understand perfectionism at a deeper level, to see it not as ‘just the way I am’ but as something we can understand, unlearn, and replace with patterns that serve our growth and liberation.

01 Dec 2021The fear of what we desire most.00:36:20

I am back with a rebranded podcast. Today I am exploring fearing what we desire most and how this can lead to self-abandonment.

"Abandoning ourselves to care for others makes us lonely and reduces our capacity to truly give and receive love. It’s a pattern that’s incredibly hard to identify because it is a sophisticated shapeshifter that can provide immediate gratification and at times makes us feel righteous".   I invite you to join me in providing an olive branch to hurts we have internalised by engaging in an exercise to offer healing to a (light) wound from the past.   Big up to my friends Cee and Sareta who inspired me to stop waiting to restart my podcast when I listened to their new podcast, "Women Who Rebrand"   I mentioned Peter Levine, listen to him talk about trauma here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1RnTipiU_Q   Connect with me on Social media here.   My life-changing group coaching programme Sovereign is open for enrolment until 10/12/21. 30 Jun 2023A prayer for entrepreneurs in turbulent times00:10:40

At quite a few entrepreneurs are nervous about the current economic climate and the impact it's having, even the big shiny ones.

I have seen social media posts from people talking about the possibility of seeking employment, taking on part time work and feeling too exhausted to continue.

These are tricky times, it would be remiss to say otherwise.

I'm not here with advice or solutions, instead I offer a short prayer for entrepreneurs facing turbulent times.

With care and hope, Tamu

26 Mar 2022Heart talk with Sas Petherick on being present.01:05:48

Welcome to the first Conversations From The Heart: Heart Talk where I have the opportunity to have a heartfelt conversation with a wonderful guest.

Conversations From The Heart: Heart Talk, begins with a body scan (you can join in too if it is safe for you to do so). The conversation is guided by whatever comes up in the moment for my guest. There are no interview questions, no set script and hardly any editing. Pauses and process time - the things that make us human are deliberately left untouched.

In a fast-paced world of expeditious efficiency and trying to do things in the shortest time possible I offer an oasis.

An oasis where there is no race to hot takes or intensity. Our conversations take the time they take and my guests and I have space to be our perfectly imperfect human selves.

Today I am joined by my friend and resplendent human being, Sas Petherick for my first heart-led conversation.

In this conversation, Sas and I talk about sisterhood, discernment and the precious care friendship and being a friend requires.

We talk about the elusive nature of being present and how easily we take it for granted even though it's all we have. Sas' connection to her heart via our body scan made the preciousness of now even more apparent as she had a serious heart condition that could have had a fatal impact. Sas' tender heart reminds her of the importance of being here now and returning whenever she ventures into the past or future for too long.

We talk about the enforced stillness of the pandemic and lessons thrust upon us by having to sit in our aloneness and begin to claim who we are. Sas shares why she is excited about this possibility.

We also get geeky and talk about academic stuff we love!

This is a really gentle conversation, I hope it offers you some comfort.

A bit about Sas:

Sas Petherick is obsessed with helping you heal your self-doubt. Sas is a Master Coach and Founder of Self-belief School and the Self-belief Coaching Academy where she teaches evidence-based approaches and proven coaching tools. Sas hosts the Courage and Spice podcast for humans with Self-doubt. You’ll find Sas on The Gram: @saspetherick.

12 Sep 2022Childhood adaptations. Adult limitations.00:41:47

In this episode I share how childhood adaptations become maladaptive in adulthood. The way we learn to cope with caregivers that aren't meeting our need to be whole can look like what we call self sabotage and limiting beliefs in adulthood. However they are maladaptive coping strategies and protection mechanisms.

These patterns of behaviour can make out attempts to grow and develop our businesses feel like a threat and trigger our learnt survival responses.

Ultimately these things limit our ability to develop self-belief - our beliefs shape our reality.

On Friday 23rd September I will be teaching a masterclass about the skill of self belief and practical ways to create new beliefs at my Embody Your Future NOW mini virtual retreat - plus a whole lot more.

Hello you, welcome to the first interview in my recently rebranded podcast!   Today I am joined by the wonderful life and business coach Ruthie Zerai Semere.   In this conversation, Ruthie and I talk about the difference between healing for growth and healing as a ruse for resistance. This conversation was inspired by a conversation Ruthie and I had about the ways we have seen the people we work with unconsciously avoid taking action because they get stuck in their healing process.    We explored the reasons why this may occur and how protective patterns from childhood impact our growth or avoidance.   We also touch on our experience as daughters of immigrants and how our blackness affects our approach to healing and growth work. Of course we  talk about the ways in which our toxic productivity and people pleasing served us and why it had to be released in order for us to embody our healthiest adult selves.    It's a really gorgeous conversation. I am delighted to share it with you.      About Ruthie: Ruthie Zerai is a professional life and business coach with over 12 years experience working in Leadership positions in the corporate space before shifting into coaching in 2017.   Ruthie coaches individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses around the globe through her virtual coaching practice. 03 Sep 2024The Liberating Power of Embracing Sovereignty and Dreaming Ourselves Free with EbonyJanice Moore01:01:57

Welcome to The Liberated Woman Podcast! Today, I am overjoyed to be joined by the phenomenal EbonyJanice Moore.

It is an utter joy to be in conversation with one of the most impactful women I have experienced. EbonyJanice’s work has supported me in so many ways from her writing to her patreon and the content she shares on social media.

EbonyJanice is a brilliant thinker, writer, creative, and advocate for Black women’s sovereignty. In this episode, we explore the profound power of reclaiming our full selves, the wisdom of our ancestors, and the transformative nature of imagination.

Throughout our conversation, EbonyJanice shares her journey of self-sovereignty, emphasising the importance of rejecting societal expectations, particularly those imposed on Black women. We explore the concept of “mamification” and how it often limits Black women’s identities, and discuss how reconnecting with ancestral wisdom can guide us towards true liberation.

EbonyJanice also highlights the critical role of imagination in personal and collective freedom, urging us to “dream ourselves free.”

Key Takeaways:

  • The Power of Naming: Tamu emphasises the importance of calling EbonyJanice by her full name, symbolising the respect and recognition of her full identity.
  • Reclaiming Loudness: EbonyJanice shares personal stories, including memories of her cousin Latresha Gowdy, to explore the concept of loudness—both literal and metaphorical—and its role in Black women’s lives.
  • Navigating Discomfort: They discuss how embracing discomfort is crucial in breaking free from societal expectations, especially for Black women.
  • Mamification of Black Women: Tamu and EbonyJanice dissect the societal expectations placed on Black women to be perpetual caretakers and how embracing womanism can help dismantle these roles.
  • Ancestral Wisdom: EbonyJanice shares a profound experience of receiving wise counsel from her grandmother, emphasising the importance of listening to and honouring ancestral guidance.
  • Dreaming Ourselves Free: The episode highlights the importance of imagination and play as tools for liberation, inspired by the works of authors like Pearl Kledge.
  • Imagination as Liberation: Both Tamu and EbonyJanice advocate for carving out time to daydream and imagine new possibilities, seeing it as essential for creativity and personal growth.

Actionable Steps:

60-Second Stillness: Start with 60 seconds of stillness each day to connect with yourself. Gradually increase this time as you become more comfortable with the practice.

Integrity Work: Commit to being the authentic version of yourself, which is a powerful tool for personal and collective liberation.

Nurture Your Imagination: Dedicate time to daydream and explore your imagination. This can be a powerful source of creativity and solutions in your life.

“Actual you is going to open doors that fake you either could not have gotten through or could not sustain.” – EbonyJanice

Welcome to the first episode of The Liberated Woman Podcast. I am thrilled to share this conversation with Yinka Ewuola, a brilliant business strategist and coach dedicated to empowering women to create holistic wealth through their businesses.

Yinka begins by sharing her journey from investment banking to becoming a business strategist focused on cash flow, strategy, mindset, and habits. She believes money is the currency of transformation, essential for creating equitable and just outcomes.

She emphasises the importance of women generating wealth to finance powerful solutions rather than approaching problems from a place of fear. We also explore the difference between capitalism and trade and the need for women to redefine their relationship with money.

Yinka offers a holistic approach to wealth creation, highlighting the importance of viewing cash not just financially but also emotionally and energetically. She provides practical steps to assign roles to your money, ensuring a balanced life that includes saving, investing, and enjoying your earnings.

Our conversation touches on overcoming the scarcity mindset, a challenge familiar to many. Yinka and I discuss the journey from growing up with limited financial resources towards creating, as she puts it, ‘unreasonable levels of wealth’. She emphasises the importance of awareness in transforming your financial reality, alongside embracing both the struggles and triumphs of this journey.

We further explore how individual financial liberation can contribute to systemic change. Yinka shares her vision for building an organisation that eradicates gender pay gaps and supports equitable and ethical practices, highlighting the broader impact of personal wealth creation.

Yinka advises becoming aware of your financial situation, understanding your spending habits, and actively creating cash flow opportunities.

She also stresses the importance of contributing to community liberation by creating personal wealth and spending in line with community-focused values.

Not just any old Sarah Corbett, but Sarah P. Corbett. 05 Dec 2021Witness the bigness00:12:23

I have had a number of conversations with women about struggling to find a coach, mentor, therapist that can hold their 'bigness'.

These are often sensitive women, even though they may not view themselves that way. They tend to have big energy, big feelings, big emotions, big views, big wisdom, big power but don't know how to hold and channel it. This is usually because we are conditioned to play small and not be too much.

This feeds into feeling like you are simultaneously too much and not enough. As such this can create an environment where people say that they were unable to work with whichever helping professional because they couldn't handle how big they are.

However, when I think about my life experience and coaching practice what I think is happening is that people with big feelings etc are under-skilled and unable to hold their power as they, like most of us have been conditioned to play small.

As such, they unconsciously make other people responsible for their bigness. This way they can unconsciously blame others and their confirmation bias confirms that they are beyond being supported because they are indeed too much and not enough. Hyper-independence and loneliness prevails and the cycle repeats.

I can help unravel this and support you to learn how to take care of your needs so that you feel grounded and strong enough to be a conduit for your power rather than burned by it.

13 Oct 2019Black History Month Audio Community Project - Jecks Lee honours Amaza Lee Meredith00:20:18

Jecks Lee honours Amaza Lee Meredith.

In this podcast take over interior designer with a difference, Jecks Lee honours Amaza Lee Meredith.  Amaza Lee was nothing short of AMAZING.  A black woman born in 1895 that taught herself architecture, had a career as an architect and then went on to teach! Talk about TAKE UP SPACE!

In terms of wellness Jecks talks about what I am calling Meredith's growth mindset.

A black interior designer honouring a black female self taught architect who left a tangible legacy with her work... priceless!

About Jecks Lee:

Jecks set up Persona Abode Interiors to specialise in designing eco-conscious residential interiors, with a focus on designing for people and supporting world causes.

Her appreciation of interior design comes from the experiences of being terrified to step into her own home. Having endured occurrences of domestic violence, through the eyes of a child and also as an adult, she understands how the sanctuary of home crumbles when you no longer feel safe in the environment in which you live.

Having come from a long background in building conservation and recycling management, Jecks is not swayed by just aesthetics. Architecture and the environment are important to her creativity. She is unimpressed by the idea of consumer trends, as it doesn't sit well with carving out your true design style or design experience. Rather than being sucked into the vortex of designing client’s home for the sake of fashion, Jecks concentrates on providing a sensory experience that benefits their wellbeing, whilst also honouring the planet.

Believing that the profession of Interior Design should be held accountable for its participation of unethical practices, Jecks pursued studies in vegan design, becoming a “certified cruelty” free designer in 2017. She is one of the first UK designers to do so, and will use this knowledge to pass on to clients and fellow designers.

Suzy Ashworth honours Tessa Sanderson CBE.

In today's podcast takeover Suzy Ashworth celebrates Tessa Sanderson’s commitment to being the best and her capacity to give the best.

Suzy is a real one she doesn’t throw glitter on shit. At one point in this episode she used some strong language and it is totally it is necessary. You guys know I swear and I braced myself as I heard Suzy's words as it activated trauma from experiencing what she described.  This is why this project is here. It is not to gloss over the wickedness black people have endured but I believed that at some point we need to acknowledge the shit and then alchemise it. If we stay in trauma we only have trauma. Our ancestors and elders didn’t endure for us to live in trauma.

In terms of wellness Suzy shares that she is inspired by Tessa Sanderson’s ability to allow herself to be open to learning and new, regardless of her age and experience which is a huge gift. I must take this moment to thank Suzy. Suzy, one of the most powerful gifts you have given me is the space to allow myself to park what I know to one side and be open to new and deeper learning. This is possibly one of the most expansive gifts I have received in my adult life.

I'd love to hear how this landed with you.

Hello, lovely listeners! In this solo episode, I share my observations on the intersection of race and toxic productivity culture. In this episode, I share my thoughts on:

  • The systemic issues that perpetuate overworking in women's lives.
  • The importance of understanding how race, gender, and class intersect to shape the experiences of Black women in this culture.
  • The limitations of white feminism and the need for a more inclusive discourse that acknowledges the diverse struggles faced by all women.
  • Why embracing softness and spirituality can be a radical act of self-liberation for Black women.

I'm inviting more nuanced conversation about intersectionality and toxic productivity.

Welcome to the audio version of Everyday Joy Newsletter!  In this letter I'm sharing some (a lot of) thoughts on growth.

"Due to the belief that growth is only valid if it is ascending, we tend to prevent ourselves from connecting with the downward motion.  We try desperately to stop ourselves from what feels like plummeting not realising that in suppressing the downward motion we are restricting ourselves, stunting our growth" - Tamu Thomas.

01 Oct 2019Three Sixty Conversations - Black History month take over!00:05:43

Its October!! It's Black History Month here in the UK.

Black History Month is a way of reflecting on the rich history of Black people as our contribution to the world is at best, whitewashed and at worst erased due to systemic racism.

This black history month I have decided to host an intergenerational audio community project that does more than reflect and acknowledge.

For years I have grappled with black history month as it tends to revolve around a single story of lack. It got me thinking about trauma and how people are re-traumatised, desensitised and conditioned by the repetition of a single story big up Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie!

In Chimamanda’s infamous ted talk on the danger of a single storey she refers to the unintended consequence of monolithic narratives.

“Now, I loved those American and British books I read. They stirred my imagination. They opened up new worlds for me. But the unintended consequence was that I did not know that people like me could exist in literature. So what the discovery of African writers did for me was this: It saved me from having a single story of what books are”. - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

The unintended consequence of the erasure or black people in history and the whitewashing of stories means that white and black people have been denied the opportunity to learn about the contribution of black people. Denied the opportunity to understand what has led to the current social, economic, political and cultural landscape for us all.

Black history is world history.

Furthermore the monolithic narrative has relegated the black experience to struggle alone even though this is not the case.

During a divine connection with my ancestors they gave me a message.

They endured, suffered and survived because they had to. We are being called to look to their experience for clues to build on their legacy rather than be distracted.

During a divine connection with my ancestors they gave me a message.

They endured, suffered and survived because they had to. We are being called to look to their experience for clues to build on their legacy rather than be distracted.

"The very serious function of racism … is distraction. It keeps you from doing your work. It keeps you explaining, over and over again, your reason for being. Somebody says you have no language and so you spend 20 years proving that you do. Somebody says your head isn’t shaped properly so you have scientists working on the fact that it is. Somebody says that you have no art so you dredge that up. Somebody says that you have no kingdoms and so you dredge that up. None of that is necessary.” Toni Morrison.

This Black History Month I would like to honour our female ancestors with a special audio community project. Throughout October I am dedicating my award winning podcast, Three Sixty Conversations to the Black women that stood tall creating sturdy shoulders for us to stand upon and self actualise.

Throughout October 2019 I will use my podcast to share audio recordings with formidable women of African descent honouring a black female historical figure and:

  • What this person’s contribution to the world means to them.
  • What they have learnt from this historical figure in terms of self care and wellness.

As always I referred to the dictionary to be sure that the correct word to describe what we are doing is correct.

To honour-  the quality of knowing and doing what is morally right.

I believe that it is morally right for us to honour the women that have gone before. To honour the women that have provided sturdy shoulders to lift us higher by exploring how their grit can become our grace.

Enjoy.

24 Aug 2019Three Sixty Conversations with Caro Gomez on allowing and creating abundance 01:12:18

Welcome to episode 39 where I am joined by Fashion and textile designer Caro Gomez, founder of the Caro Gomez brand.  We had a really nourishing conversation about operating in your zone of genius, living abundantly and paying abundance forward.

Caro Gomez is a Latin American textile designer, who lives in London with her husband and two children. Originally from El Salvador, Caro has carried her roots with her throughout her fashion journey, and her work is heavily inspired by the colours, patterns and flair of the Latin American lifestyle.

After leaving her home country to pursue an education in fashion, she set off for Milan to study, but soon realised that the ‘city of fashion’ wasn't all she had dreamt of. Caro knew that air kisses and false niceties just weren’t for her - she wanted to pursue her dream, but knew that she couldn’t do it in an environment that didn’t feel authentic to her true self. She was falling out of love with fashion and knew that she had to make a big change if she wanted to succeed.

It was with this, that Caro decided to apply to study at Central St. Martins in London. 10 years, one marriage and two children later, London is where she calls home, and where she plans to launch her upcoming collection of hand painted and hand embroidered women’s clothing in spring 2019.

Caro’s upcoming collection is aimed at women who want to feel joyful, happy and powerful, because she believes that empowered women change the world. In a bid to support the Latin American community here in the UK, the collection will be manufactured with the help of Latin American women in London, who are trying to integrate successfully into British society.

Welcome to episode 36 where I am talking to PR maven, business woman extraodinare Ronke Lawal, founder of Ariatu PR.

I thought we were going to talk about PR, my intention was to talk to Ronke about the juxtaposition of having a multi identity and professionalism in a world where White, middle class and beyond are the default for all things professional due to systematic racism, followed by a conversation on the mindset necessary to be ready of PR. However the multi identity piece was huge. We didn’t get to all the places but we got deep, soulful and honest. It was a really enriching conversation.

Over the next few years I immersed myself in the world of natural and holistic skincare and wellness (and became certified in Aromatherapy and Herbal Medicine along the way). Her journey brought her into contact with thousands of amazing women from around the world. And she discovered that, no matter what colour our skin is, how many years we’ve lived, or which country we call home, we are all yearning for a way to love and care for our skin in a gentle and natural way.

Sami created her Freyaluna natural skincare collection to encourage us to take time for ourselves and turn a regular skincare routine into a daily skin ritual of self-love.

She says, "I want you to fall in love with taking care of yourself. My intention is that you enjoy your skincare ritual from the second you open each bottle or jar. These products are formulated to encompass your whole being, and your whole wellbeing. Each time you open your bottle or jar, I invite you to escape into luxury moments of sensory serenity. These are moments for you to savour."

Welcome to episode 40 where I am joined by Selina Barker.  Selina is a coach, online course designer, writer, podcaster and co-founder of Project Love.  Selina is an absolute delight, her work is powerful and her whole vibe is pure magick!

For the past 12 years Selina has made it her business to help people design lives and careers they love.

She's a big believer that we are all artists of our own lives and that any change we want to make, any dream we want to bring to life, can be done by turning it into a practical project.

Over the past 12 years Selina has been honoured to coach the brightest minds and talent from Google, Apple, UN Women and MySpace (yep, I’ve been at it that long), A-list musicians and leaders in the creative and music industries, helping them to create lives, careers and businesses that they can thrive in.

She has guided more than 3,000 people all over the world through the online courses that she has created for her own brands or co-designed with brilliant best-selling authors.

The signature online course she designed for Project Love has been featured in Psychologies, Glamour and Grazia.  Selina has also been included in six best-selling books on career change and how to start a business on a shoestring.

Selina has built two businesses (Careershifters.org and Project Love) which are thriving today, featured in six best-selling books on career design and for three years ran my business from a bag while she travelled the UK in my camper van for 6 months, road tripped around California, sailed the fjords of Chile, hung out with family in the streets of Buenos Aires and painted in the mountains of Canada.

Over the past 5 years Selina's focus has also turned towards love and relationships and growing Project Love with her biz wife, Vicki Pavitt. It is fast becoming the go-to platform for people looking for heartfelt, practical guidance on love and life. We offer a mix of online courses, coaching and life design tools, including the popular Get Ready for Love course and the Goodbye Hello journal.

09 Apr 2019Three Sixty Conversations with Sharn Khaira on spirituality, culture and making money01:08:48

Welcome to episode 27! Today I am joined by Sharn Khaira. Sharn begun her entrepreneur journey with her company Luxury wedding planning business, Desi Bride Dreams after leaving a career in marketing that was very depleting. In 2017 Sharn set up the AFEC (Asian Female Entrepreneurs Collective) to support Asian women achieve successful in business. Sharn is also an international speaker and all round badass!

Sharn talks about her background, growing up with parents that had little or no English and had periods of working multiple jobs to make ends meet. Sharn reflected on being a translator for her parents from a very young age and doing things like speaking to Sky TV at the age of 5 or 6 and helping her parents complete a mortgage application at 11 or 12! We talk about growing up in an area that was characterised by deprivation and seeing her parents experience financial stress. It was really interesting to hear Sharn talk about growing up seeing wealthy relatives and not being jealous or intimidated but inspired to believe that there was more for her than what she was experiencing. We also touch on Sharn paving her own path and braking away from the cultural norms of the Sikh community.  Full show notes here.

11 Mar 2019Three Sixty Monologues - Meeting your basic needs00:28:51

Welcome to my 3rd solo episode - Three Sixty Monologues.

This week I am talking about the importance of meeting your needs and how not meeting them can prevent you from doing the things you WANT to do and lead to overwhelm.

I didn't answer questions this week as I had a lot to say!  In this episode I referred to Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

I mentioned Le'Nise Brothers @eatlovemove, Ash Cole @slashbeautyldn, Lucy Sheridan @Lucysheridan, Steph Douglas @steph_dontbuyherflowers you can read Steph's overwhelm blog post here and Emma Svanberg @mumologist.

I shout out @Lucysheridan.  Lucy is a very good egg who generously shares knowledge and information that assists all areas of personal development with a focus on Comparison.  Lucy is the worlds first and possibly only Comparison Coach.  Her work has ended up on the Oprah Winfrey show where she was casually chatting to Oprah and Iyanla Vanzant about comparison.  Lucy facilitated a workshop at my last day retreat called Compassion over Comparison where she guided people to think about the genesis of their comparison and how to be more compassionate with themselves.  It was a really deep and meaningful workshop that got us all thinking and awakening.  This is not an ad, I am mentioning this because I think Lucy is the real deal, on this Wednesday 13th March Lucy is hosting one of her Comparison Free Workshops.  Its a virtual workshop so you don't have to leave your home and you are likely to gain loads.  You can find out more here and connect with Lucy on instagram here.

The next Three Sixty Everyday Joy Day Retreat takes place on 08/06/19 in London. Click here for more information and booking.

26 Mar 2019Three Sixty Monologues - Self empathy00:23:22

In this episode I am talking about the way self-empathy can create space for expansion and liberate us from unhelpful internal narratives.

Journal prompt:

How would you feel if you woke up tomorrow and all your dreams/ goals were realised?

Are those feelings present (to any degree) in your life currently?

I invite you to think about how more self-empathy (the ability to understand and share the feelings of another). Could assist you to expand towards realising some of your dreams/ goals?

I shout out my absolute darling, Nicola Rae Wickham founder of A Life More Inspired. Nicola is a true gem and the woman that helped me to begin to recognise my limiting beliefs and understand that we build stories around our lives that are not always true which means that we can create new helpful ones.  Nicola has just launched a Creative Coaching and Mentoring Experience for purpose-driven women who have a brand to get out and into the world.  If this sounds like you.  Do check Dream, Do and Flourish out.

I mention Nicky Raby and our podcast chat

15 Jul 2019Wellness is Wellth - The Supperclub00:25:28

Nicola Rae Wickham (@alifemoreinspired) and I are back with our Wellness is Wellth collaboration!  This time its a supper club!

The response to the inaugural Wellness is Wellth event at Thomson Reuters in January this year was so powerful we have not been able to stop thinking about it.

Each week since 18th January 2019 we have discussed or mentioned Wellness is Wellth.  Each conversation or mention made us feel alive and safe to delve deeper into our money stories cultivating a friendly relationship that is steadily becoming closer and healthier.

We have agreed that we can no longer ignore the nudges encouraging us to make Wellness is Wellth a living breathing entity, so here we are!

We started in the heart of the UK's financial district and have decided take Wellness is Wellth home bringing abundance to your door with a supperclub in the beautiful homely setting of  Kindred Members club in Hammersmith, London.
