03 Jun 2022 | Matt Lucas | 01:16:10 | |
Welcome to the theatrical podcast in which we ask a special guest the big, BIG question that nobody ever needed to ask. If there was a huge meteor hurtling toward Earth threatening to destroy life as we know it and you could see one more show before you die, what would it be? It can be anything you want. A show you’ve seen before, one that you wish you’d seen, or something you’ve made up entirely. What would be YOUR Last Show on Earth? Our very first guest is British comedy legend and national treasure Matt Lucas. An actor, writer and comedian with a hugely varied career that has seen him become a household name with TV shows like Little Britain, Shooting Stars and more, we talked to Matt way, way back in May 2021 - not long after Matt had a hugely popular hit single with Thank You Baked Potato. If there was a huge asteroid hurtling toward Earth threatening to destroy life as we know it and you could see one more show before you die, what would it be? It can be anything you want - a show you’ve seen before, one that you wish you’d seen, or something you’ve made up entirely. What would be YOUR Last Show on Earth? This is the podcast in which we ask a special guest the big, BIG question that nobody ever needed or bothered to ask. Our guest this episode is Danny Mac Danny is probably best known for playing the role of Dodger Savage in the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks from 2011 to 2015 winning numerous TV awards for his performance and has even won the Sexiest Male Award an incredible nine times. Neither John Owen-Jones or Alistair Brammer have been nominated for any Sexiest Male Awards. Ever. He began his acting career at an early age when he played Gavroche in the UK tour of Les Miserables (with John Owen-Jones as Jean Valjean!) and then in the West End in the mid nineties. Elswhere in theatre, he has appeared in leading roles in Wicked, On The Town, The Mouse Trap, Legally Blonde, White Christmas, Amelie, Sunset Boulevard, Pretty Woman and Assassins and has been seen on TV in shows such as Midsommer Murders, Doctors, Trollied and hugely popular celebrity TV dance contest Strictly Come Dancing - where he was runner up in the 2016 series and was the first person in the show's history to earn 40 points from all four judges. He has been a judge on ITV show All Star Musicals and is the first guest on this podcast to earn a two-part episode! We talked to Trevor for so long and in such great detail that we had to split the chat into two parts. This is the main episode but we have also released a very special bonus episode where he goes into great detail about his Last Show choice that you can listen to separately at your leisure. Its the second season finale AND Xmas special of The Last Show on Earth!! This is the podcast in which we ask a special guest the big, BIG question that nobody ever needed (or indeed) bothered to ask. Our guest for this special episode is Bertie Carvel. Destined to be remembered as one of the great actors of our time, Bertie Carvel is a force of nature and has had a meteoric rise to greatness winning numerous Tonys and Oliviers for musicals and plays and his career has seen triumph after triumph on screen and stage at the highest level. Known to musical theatre fans primarily for his incredible award winning performance as Miss Trunchbull in Matilda he has an impressive body of work with highlights including Parade, Macbeth, Ink, The 47th, Pygmalion, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Babylon, The Crown, Doctor Foster and detective show Dalgliesh - on which the lucky fella got the chance to work with Alistair Brammer!
