THE KINGS continue their second annual MARCH MAYHEM tournament bracket. This year they work their way through Pushead's Unofficial Top 100 of the 80s. This list, compiled and published in 1990, constituted the bulk of Pushead's final "Puszone" column in Thrasher Magazine.

The top 28 records got a first round buy. In this qualifying round, the KOPPOD hosts embarked upon a mission fit only for punk fanatics of their caliber: listen to 72 releases, and compare them to one another based on random tournament seeding. It should be no surprise that they got the job done. They discussed, dissected, and debated the releases and their relative merits in each round. It's all here for your listening pleasure, and it's split up into two parts for your mental digestion. If you have yet to acquaint yourself with the Puszone list and the music referenced therein, the list is linked below along with a YouTube playlist for this qualifying round. We discuss the contents of that seminal DVD and Tony provides insight regarding the vibe and events surrounding HELLFEST 2000. The KINGS kick off the start of April with a deep dive into the raw, uncompromising legacy of one of hardcore punk’s most intense and influential bands: FUGAZI. Known for their blisteringly fast sound, politically charged lyrics, and confrontational presence, FUGAZI reshaped the boundaries of aggression in hardcore—laying the groundwork for what would become known as powerviolence.

This episode portends a big KOPPOD month as it traces the band’s early years in Washington, D.C., their landmark recordings, and their lasting impact on generations of extreme music. From their iconic Repeater LP to their legendary $5 shows, FUGAZI’s presence looms large—and we’re breaking it all down here, on April 1st, 2025.

In the first half, the KINGS run through the basics regarding Hamilton legends TEENAGE HEAD. They gave their '79 debut a listen and in the second half they share their thoughts on it. It might not be directly up their alley nor yours, but it stands as a seminal album in Canadian rock'n'roll history. Horrific news regarding the death of TEENAGE HEAD guitarist GORD LEWIS inspired this episode. RIP to him; an exceptional guitar-slinger and by all accounts a great guy.

This will be our last episode for a few weeks. We plan to take a break both to recharge our batteries AND to plan future episodes. We don't want to give you guys a bunch of bullshit every week. Conner Lynd is a Rochester, NY based artist who has become well-known for his unique and experimental works of art. His pieces often feature bright colors, bold designs, and unexpected materials. He has been exhibiting in galleries around the Rochester area since 2010, and has built up a loyal following.
Conner's work is heavily inspired by punk music and culture. He often features images and symbols of punk bands in his work, and his style certainly reflects the rebellious attitude of punk music. In his upcoming appearance on the KINGS OF PUNK podcast, Conner will be discussing his creative process and the influence that punk music has had on his art.
Aside from art, Conner is also passionate about TCBY, a popular frozen yogurt chain. He feels that TCBY has been a staple in the Rochester community for many years, and enjoys their wide selection of flavors. On the KINGS OF PUNK podcast, he will be talking about why TCBY has been such an important part of his life growing up in Rochester.

The co-hosts of the punk rock podcast Kings of Punk are sardonic and cynical in their approach to most topics, but they were genuinely excited when special guest Conner joined them to discuss AI art. As Conner talked about his passion for AI art and how it had revolutionized the creative process, the co-hosts couldn't help but share in his enthusiasm. While they still held onto their usual skepticism and cynicism, they could see the potential that AI art brings to the creative world. They all agreed that AI art is a fascinating concept and that it may open up even more possibilities for budding creatives.

The co-hosts were especially impressed by how Food Dip is able to take complex topics related to food and make them accessible for people of all ages and levels of knowledge. All in all, Conner and the co-hosts feel that Food Dip is one of the top examples of Joe Rogan's impact on content creation.
