27 Dec 2021 | 104. Raising A Glass To The Year Ahead - A Manifesto | 00:11:11
Today on the final episode of the Celebrating Simple Life Podcast for 2021 I can’t think of a better way to finish up our ‘Celebrating Great Things To Come’ Series than with what I have in store for this episode. The New Year can often feel like a lot of hype around New Year’s Resolutions and suddenly turning ourselves into completely different versions of ourselves. I have so often set myself up for failure by creating such expectations that are not even humanly possible and then feeling shame when I haven’t followed through on said expectations by week 1 of the New Year. Anyone else with me on this?! I spent some time throughout December and just now over the holidays, creating my own personal manifesto that I want to share with you.

24 Jan 2022 | 107. Starting Where You Are with Janna Dutton | 00:51:32
Today on the Celebrating Simple Life Podcast, we are continuing our series on how to thrive, even when its hard. I’m chatting with Janna Dutton, Canadian-born entrepreneur and philanthropist owning multiple locations of the famous Tim Hortons multinational quick service food chain. From humble beginnings, Janna has taken her life experiences and has chosen to lead guests and her community from a place of humility and service with her personal mantra “a giving heart, grows”. Janna believes that no matter what hurdles and obstacles are waiting for you, it is the desire to make a positive change in the world, not money, that defines each of us as philanthropists. Currently, Janna is working with the Royal University Hospital Foundation on a campaign to raise 20 million dollars and is writing two books; one for children about setting and achieving goals, and a book about giving - inspiring all to share their unique gifts with the world. Janna believes that your work will only reflect your true self if you bring your true self to work. Tune in as we chat all about learning to follow your own ‘knowing’ and the power of giving back.

15 May 2024 | 139. Finding Hope Amidst The Darkness with Jacqueline Tisher of Hope's Home | 00:36:39
Today on the Joy Curator Podcast we are chatting with Jacqueline Tisher, Visionary Founder + CEO of Hope’s Home. Jacqueline has a profound personal and professional connection to children with complex medical needs. As a Registered Nurse, she dedicated her expertise to the Pediatric ICU and Neonatal ICU, providing care to children facing complex medical challenges. Her journey took a deeply personal turn when her oldest daughter, Acacia, was born with spina bifida, leading to significant hospital stays throughout her childhood. Inspired by her experiences caring for children with complex medical needs, Jacqueline and her family embarked on another avenue of compassion through foster care. In 2003, they opened their home and hearts to foster Hope, a child with medical needs who lived only a brief 10 months, all spent in the hospital. Driven by her dreams and fueled by the profound losses of Hope in 2003 and her daughter Acacia in 2011, Jacqueline transformed her personal journey into a beacon of hope. She turned her aspirations into reality. Hope’s Home now stands as a cornerstone, providing childcare and supportive living homes for children with complex medical needs across Regina, Prince Albert, Saskatoon, and Warman. Jacqueline embodies compassion, dedication, and advocacy, serving as a passionate leader and tireless advocate. Recognized for her exceptional contributions, she has been honored with numerous awards, including the 2010 Saskatchewan Healthcare Excellence Award for Community Leadership, the 2013 YWCA Women of Distinction Award for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the 2018 U of R Alumni Humanitarian & Community Service Award, and most recently, the 2023 Saskatchewan Order of Merit. Jacqueline selflessly dedicates her time and energy to amplify the voices of children with complex medical needs. Supported by the remarkable staff at Hope’s Home, Jacqueline’s vision has created a sanctuary where special children can simply be kids. Her dream serves as a poignant reminder there truly is no place like Hope. Episode Sponsor - Good Food
This time of year can feel so full, even if the busyness of life is filled with all wonderful things. As a working mom, I often struggle to find the time and balance to cook healthy, home cooked meals that will fuel my family and myself and not feeling overwhelmed with the amount of time it takes to plan, shop, prep & cook healthy dinners. I’ll admit, I was skeptical when I signed up for Good food. I tried out a promo code and told myself, I would just order one box to check it out. Well, 6 weeks later, I’m hooked. From the first step of clicking to order, and than receiving the fresh ingredients and step-by-step recipes, it has all been seamless and easy. My mind has been cleared from the daily struggle of ‘What’s for dinner?’ and knowing that my meals will arrive on my doorstep each week, unless I choose to skip a delivery (which by the way, I can do as often as I want) We will be away over Christmas and I’ve already been able to make plans to skip the meals until the new year. You can even cancel your subscription at any time. There are so many recipe suggestions or you can make it even easier, like I choose too, by letting them curate the meals I get and every single one my family has tried has been delicious. The best part, is that my daughter, Cassidy has made a lot of the meals herself because of the amazing colorful and easy to follow recipe cards with easy step by step instructions. I cannot say enough good things about the Good Food box and as a special offer for Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast listeners, you can get $40 off your first box! Today on Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast, I’m chatting with Chelsey Parker, owner of Meat Chops Beef Jerky. They offer Prairie Bred, Grass Fed Beef Jerky and Made to Order Leather Goods. Embracing the whole-animal approach for all its bovine beauty by merging both old art forms of crafting leather and the preservation of their meat into original Road Fuel aka beef jerky is sustenance for all the seasons. Their beef jerky is a staple in our snack pantry at home & I’m so excited for you to hear Chelsey’s story.
Crafting a product with positive impact and purpose is her main drive and passion. Their meat mantra is a committed one. Eat meat. Craft leather. Respect cow. She is someone you want to know, and her passion and drive for what she does is absolutely inspiring. Come, MEAT up with us! (get it, MEAT up? Chelsey has influenced me to start up some MEAT puns) Our conversation is packed full of goodness and so much fun, so tune in!

16 Dec 2019 | 17. Love, Heartbreak & Everything in Between with Country Music Artist Tenille Arts | 00:36:25
Today on Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast, I’m chatting with country music artist, Tenille Arts. Born & raised right here in Saskatchewan, Tenille, lives in Nashville and is making her mark in this world in a big way. I first met Tenille a few years ago at a Cystic Fibrosis Charity Benefit in Weyburn. Her musical talent was off the charts and her support for Cystic Fibrosis at a national level has helped build awareness and raise funds. She accepted our invitation to sing at our SOAR for Cystic Fibrosis Events in 2018 & 2019 and Cassidy even had the opportunity to sing with her, which was a dream come true for Cassidy. Her appearance as the musical guest on the reality tv show, The Bachelor caught her a recording deal with Reviver Records out of Nashville. She has since made a second appearance on The Bachelor and just announced her third appearance coming up this January 2020 on the newest season. Which of course, I will be throwing an epic viewing party for! She has been praised for her moving songs and has was named one of the 2018 Artists to watch out for by Pop Culture dot com. A few months ago in September, she had a dream come true when she made her Grand Ole Opry debut in the iconic theatre. Her sophomore album, Love, Heartbreak & Everything in Between was just announced and will be available in January. She is absolutely lovely, genuine & kind and I’m so proud to know her. Tune in to hear all about Tenille’s start in music, how she manages being in the public eye and how she is still a country, Saskatchewan girl at heart.

My mind has been cleared from the daily struggle of ‘What’s for dinner?’ and knowing that my meals will arrive on my doorstep each week, unless I choose to skip a delivery (which by the way, I can do as often as I want). I cannot say enough good things about the Good Food box and as a special offer for Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast listeners, you can get $40 off your first box! Click the link in the show notes to receive your discount today and make the most of your time this holiday season! $40 off your first Good Food box with the link in the show notes. 16 Mar 2020 | 30. Being Gentle To Yourself & Other Life Lessons with Jana Danielson of LEAD Pilates | 00:59:00
Today on Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast, I’m chatting with Jana Danielson, Founder of LEAD Pilates. After 10+ years in the world of HR and Management Consulting, her passion for Pilates and movement got the best of her. Jana’s passion for Pilates began in the early 2000’s when she stumbled across a Shape magazine with a picture of Madonna gracing the cover and the word “Pilates” splashed across the page. 11 May 2020 | 38. When Life Gives You Lemons....Make Lemonade! with Cassidy, CEO Cassidy's Lemonade Stand | 00:38:35
Today on Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast I’m chatting with Cassidy Evans, CEO of Cassidy’s Lemonade Stand who also happens to be my amazing daughter. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects approximately 4000 Canadians. 1 in 25 people are a carrier of the defective gene and both parents need to be a carrier in order to have a 1 in 4 chance of the child being born with Cystic Fibrosis. This is Cassidy. Cystic Fibrosis affects her respiratory and digestive systems by causing the mucus in her body to be very thick and sticky because of the cell confusion of salt and water in her body. She spends hours a day doing respiratory physiotherapy through inhaled medications through a nebulizer, physiotherapy and other vitamins and medications. In the digestive system, this thick sticky mucus prevents the pancreatic enzymes, that are needed to digest food, to exit the pancreas to get to the intestines. Cassidy takes 20-30 pills a day in order to digest food so that she can absorb nutrients and stay healthy. The days often feel long and this is a disease that she wouldn’t wish upon anyone. What keeps her strong is her HOPE in a cure. At Cassidy’s Lemonade Stand, the mission is to share Cassidy’s story, create whimsical events and unique merchandise to heighten awareness about Cystic Fibrosis across Canada and come closer to a cure every single day. Cassidy’s mobile lemonade truck serving up freshly squeezed lemonade has turned into an incredible She is such a brave & beautiful girl on the inside and out and I’m so proud to be her mama! Today on Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast I’m chatting with sisters, Jodi Willoughby and Carolyne McIntyre Jackson, owners of Crave Cupcakes. The art of baking runs deep in their family. They not only taught them how to bake, they passed along their values of quality, honesty and integrity. Their goal is is to bring joy into people's lives through exceptional, home-style baking. Crave opened their first bakery in Calgary back in 2004 with their Grandmother’s chocolate cake recipe and their Mother’s secret to irresistible buttercream icing. From the very beginning, Crave has been a true labour of love. Today Crave has grown to six bakeries and a team of 100 amazing people. Their values continue to live in everything they do though their team, processes and baking. They continue to crack every egg, open every pound of butter by hand and only sell freshly baked cupcakes. 09 Nov 2020 | 55. Embracing Your Nutrition Intuition with Melanie Samuels | 01:00:31
Melanie is a holistic nutritionist and wellness enthusiast based in Los Angeles, CA. I had the pleasure of meeting Melanie on the set of Fuller House back in 2016 when we were their on Cassidy’s Wish Trip. Her and I instantly connected and have now re-connected as she moved out of Television Production in the last few years and is now the owner of Choose Well with Mel. This company grew out of Melanie’s fascination for health, nutrition, and living a confident life. Using a bio-individual and sustainable approach, Melanie helps clients improve their health by ditching the diet and embracing their intuition around food. This includes developing realistic habits and a deep understanding of the importance of choosing the right foods for your body. Melanie pivoted her career to Nutrition after years of working in Television Production where she first met a few of her current clients, including Jodie Sweetin from Fuller House. In addition to her 1:1 work, she has developed nutrition courses and mini-trainings. Melanie is also the co-founder of Mel and Mel Co., a wellness and lifestyle brand she started with her business partner, client, and dear friend, Melissa Coulier. They are currently in development of their first wellness book, as well as other lifestyle products. Outside of work, she loves being a wife, cooking and creating healthy recipes in her kitchen, moving her body, spending time with friends, being creative, and watching guilty pleasure reality TV. You are going to love Mel’s approach to lifestyle, living well and nutrition, so tune in!

16 Nov 2020 | 56. Getting Through What's Holding You Back with Julia Kristina | 01:21:43
Today on Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast we are going deep and chatting with my therapist & coach Julia Kristina. You know me….I’m always up for an honest and real conversation and this one is extra special. Julia believes that we need to stop shying away from looking at and talking about the deep things that make us tick as human beings, and doing so doesn’t have to be awkward or uncomfortable. From the moment Julia Kristina learned that there was such thing as a job where one could help another human being grow, heal and make changes that would transform their lives, and thus the lives of generations to come, she knew she had to do whatever it took to become a therapist. Julia is a world class therapist, teacher and speaker who has a natural ability to connect with both individuals and groups because of how she is able to bring deep conversations to the surface, and bring clarity to the complex things that make us perfectly imperfect beings. Tune in for our honest and real conversation all about getting unstuck and figuring out what’s holding you back, so tune in!

Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast is a proud member of the The Saskatchewan Podcast Network which is supported by the MINISTRY OF HIGHWAYS. You know me and Winter is not my favorite season, but I’m so grateful for our highway workers who operate our snow plows to keep our highways as safe as they can be, despite our awful winter weather. Did you know that Snow Plows pull over every 10-15 kms for you to pass safely. This means, that even if you are as impatient as I can, you know that you giving the snow plow some space in order to pass safely, can keep everyone safe on the roads. When passing, treat snow plows the same way you would an emergency vehicle. If a plow is pulled over and has lights flashing, slow to 60 and pass with caution. Always check the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline before travelling.

08 Feb 2021 | 68. Creating Habits that Actually Stick with The Wellness Weaver, Patti Tweed | 01:17:30
Today on Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast I’m chatting Patti Tweed, business owner and wellness entrepreneur. Her company, The Wellness Weavers Global, has focused on integrating health in body, mind and spirit since its early beginnings in 1997. Practicing as a clinical dietitian, public health nutritionist and health educator in the first two decades of her career, Patti’s formal and informal training evolved over time to include Theology, Spiritual Practice and Professional Fundraising. Integrating these “branches” of her career has felt like a natural evolution to Patti, whose Mission Statement is simply this…“In all things to seek and to share Health in Body, Mind and Spirit.” For the past ten plus years Patti has partnered with a global nutrition and environmental research company, Shaklee Corporation. It is Shaklee’s goal to empower people to take responsibility as much as possible for their own health. She recognizes that our healthcare system is bursting at the seams. It is our goal to be an instrument of change, working at the grass roots level to move our ailing “healthcare” system from “sick care” to well care”. Tune in as we chat all about my 30 Day Prove It Challenge, what I learned and how I’m feeling now as well as our honest discussion on some really uncomfortable and awkward experiences I’ve had with friends who have tried to sell me stuff and how not all Direct Sales companies are the same.

15 Feb 2021 | 69. 13 Going on 39....What Did You Wish For? | 00:34:17
Today on Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast, it's 13 Going On 30 (okay, 39, over here!) Grab your Razzles and dust on your metallic eye shadow as I throw back to the year 1995 when I turned 13. I'm reflecting on what I wished for as I now become the parent of a teenager. (Cassidy turns 13 on February 15!) What the what?! My 13th birthday was my first party that I invited boys, the first feelings of flutters in my heart at the idea that someone I like might like me back, the fun and laughter that came with hanging out with my best girlfriends (some of which I still have the pleasure of being friends with today!) Life is moving at warp speed, even amidst the world still being shut down. Where do you need to find more fun? What did you wish for when you were 13 that still holds a place of longing in your heart? Tune in on Monday to remind yourself of all the things that are good in your life so that you can actually recognize it as life passes us by.

01 Mar 2021 | 71. Recovering Your Identity with Jennifer McCowan of Hope Hair Recovery | 00:43:56
Today on Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast, I’m chatting with Jennifer McCowan WTS Certified Trichologist and Owner of Hope Hair Recovery. Jennifer has been helping people feel good about themselves as a hair stylist for the past 23 years. After experiencing tragic loss in 2010, shortly after giving birth to her second child, she experienced first hand how stress manifests itself in the body. She found suspicious lumps in each of her breasts along with 2 heart issues which then led to a significant amount of hair loss. After being told by her Dermatologist to "brace for impact, you're going to be bald by the time you're 60, she couldn't believe what was happening to her. After shopping for wigs, taking down mirrors in her house and beginning to avoid making any eye contact with anyone, she knew she had to find another way. She was driven by the simple fact that for a woman, losing her hair is like losing her identity, and she was determined to never let another woman feel like she did at that time. And so, her hair loss journey began. Tune in as we chat all about the Art of Trichology, how she connects with every client she’s has from as young as age 6 to everyone in between and how each of their life stories inspires her to continue on educating and inspiring everyone around them to never take no for answer and to never give up. 08 Mar 2021 | 72. Finding Your Sparkle with Disney Fine Art Artist, Denyse Klette | 00:57:32
Today on Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast, I’m chatting with Artist, Denyse Klette. Denyse’s earliest memory of creating was when she was four and she spent hours copying the drawings out of her sister's 'How To Draw' book, which serendipitously was written by a Disney artist. By the age of 8 she informed her parents that she wanted to quit school to become a full time artist. When that was discouraged, by Grade 5 she was selling her line drawings to buy treats and by the age of 16 she had her first cartoon strip published in two local newspapers. 45 years later she has still never wavered in this career choice. With a background in murals, children’s portraits and eventually co-creating the Belly Button Buddies series, she very quickly became known as the artist who could capture joy in children. Through the diagnosis of her mom’s cancer and an unfortunate thumb accident, Denyse was reminded of the fragility of life and took a break from painting during this time. On her return, with a fresh perspective she created two heartfelt collections to capture life’s simple and beautiful moments. Continuing to work hard, putting herself out there and showing up even when it was hard, in 2019 her magical dream came true, when she was signed as the very first Canadian to be a Disney Fine Art artist with Collectors Edition. Tune in to hear her inspiring story of perseverance, finding your sparkle and what creating as a Disney Fine Art Artist looks like.

Today on Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast, I’m chatting with Charmaine Jennings, owner of Strategic Charm Boutique. Charmaine is an Instagram guru where she helps women in business share their brand story and connect with dream clients and customers online. She works hard to help women find their voice and define their message so they can confidently communicate their passion for their industry, the work they do, and the value of their offers. She also teaches digital marketing at The University of Winnipeg and enjoys helping students develop skills they can use to succeed in their careers or in business. Tune in as we chat all about showing up as YOURSELF, muting the noise that is going on all around us and living a life of true fulfillment. Get ready for some laughs, because this is a FUN episode!
