02 Sep 2021Ep 43: The Secret Life of A Follower of Jesus 00:35:52

In Matthew 6 we see Jesus setting the stage for us to have individual interactions with God! He’s showing the people (and us) the God of the universe wants a personal, individual relationship with you!

31 Mar 2023Ep. 77: Alive in Jesus (Colossians 3:1-11)00:37:37

Once your faith is in Him and not yourself you can act motivated by love not striving to earn love. When you know it is by grace through faith in Jesus that you are forgiven and united with God, you can stop trying so hard.

Take a deep breath. That is the mystery and the good news of the true gospel. You don’t have to get it right to be made right.

It is about to get real. We’re going to put some feet on our faith. It’s time to live different. It’s time to be alive in Jesus!

Let’s get into this study from Colossians 3.

18 Mar 2020Ep 5: Holding on to Our Faith in the Midst of the Chaos00:45:54

How did the heroes of the faith maintain that faith when everything around them was going crazy? How do we??

Let me ask you this. Have you reasoned that He is able? Do you, like Paul, know Whom you have believed? Not do you know about Him, but do you actually know Him? I believe therein lies the secret to Rock-solid faith! To a faith that can withstand the chaos of our present moment and fight the pull of coronaphobia which threatens to invade our homes and our sanity.

This episode is jam-packed with Scripture to help you set your mind and keep it set on the things above.

It’s time to stand on what we know regardless of how we feel!

25 May 2023Ep. 81: Jesus Says YOU Are Necessary! 00:25:42

“It was necessary for Him to go through Samaria.”

Why did these words make me cry? Why did a phrase so easily overlooked, seemingly insignificant grab me at my core until my eyes burned and my breath came out in a whispered, “Thank you, Jesus.”

Friend, YOU are necessary. In this short phrase above Jesus proved once and for all that what the world may see as a lost cause He considers to be absolutely vital! Join me for this episode as we unpack this tiny line I highlighted many years ago. I truly believe you will find it to be a discovery well worth your time.

I invite you to join me for “Life in the Highlights,” a truly random journey where we will crack open my Bible and see what truths jump out at us from scripture I have highlighted days, weeks, or even years earlier. This series won’t be predictable or even without interruption. It will undoubtedly be full of fiery detours and inspiring interviews. But in the in-between, we will land together in the increasingly worn pages of my study Bible as we look at life-giving, soul-transforming verses we discover accented in a rainbow of colors.

24 Feb 2022Ep. 54: What Does the Bible Say About Money and Possessions? And What’s the Deal With Stewardship? 00:41:00

Money. Money. Money! What the heck do we do with it? How do we act if we have it? And how do we act if we don’t?! Is it wrong to want it? Is money evil? Friends, the Bible has a lot to say about money and possessions. Not just what to do with them and how to use them (aka Stewardship), but also what we should (or more accurately should not) allow them to do with us.

This episode is taken from a live session my husband, Tim and I had the privilege of doing in April 2020 with Pastor Jonathan Key at First Baptist Church Indialantic. Grab your Bibles and enjoy following along with us for this practical and engaging chat about Biblical Money management principles, whether it’s wrong to have a lot of stuff, and so much more!

17 Jun 2020Ep 12: Liking People is Optional…Loving Them Isn’t! 00:17:12

It is not a feeling, it is a choice. A choice to love even when we don’t like! That person you can’t stand, that you are so adamantly against, Christ died for them too!

I can’t help but think that when Christ shows His love to me He likely over looks my faults. He knows I’m not perfect, but He doesn’t let that affect the way He loves me. He loves me not because of how I act or because of how I treat Him, but in spite of it! You know what…there is some serious grace involved in His brand of love.

We are called to show this same love to others…not just those we like, and not only when they are acting like we think they should. People should not have to earn our love. They should receive it whether we think they “deserve” it or not. This is how we love like Jesus!

29 Jun 2023Ep. 83: Graced: How God Redeems and Restores the Broken with Author and Speaker Teresa Whiting00:44:53

No one else can tell your story…These were the words the Lord spoke to Teresa Whiting’s heart as she prepared to write a women’s Bible study. But Teresa’s is a story of sexual brokenness. It is messy and she didn’t think her story would make for great Bible study material. Yet as she leaned into this thought the Lord brought her to the stories of six women in scripture with deep sexual wounds.

Whether something done to you or brokenness resulting from your own poor choices, sexual brokenness comes in many packages. And whether or not sexual brokenness is part of your story you will find great insight into the heart of God for His people, messiness and all.

Teresa’s new study, “Graced: How God Redeems and Restores the Broken” is sure to fan the flames of your faith.

And if this topic makes you want to run in the other direction, I challenge you, push play and sit with this for a bit. The path to healing doesn’t have to be harsh. Teresa offers a path to gentle restoration. In her you will find a dear friend and compassionate guide to walk with you on your journey to wholeness….because God is a Healer of the broken, a Redeemer of the lost, a Restorer of dreams and a Giver of hope, in Whose hands no hurt is ever in vain.

I encourage you to get your hands on this new Bible study. Don’t wait! Buy it now, and begin your path to restoration, wholeness, and a deeper understanding of the Father’s great love for you and plans to use your story….mess and all!

06 Jan 2021Ep 25: Let’s Talk Body Image and Comparison: An Interview with Heather Creekmore00:51:11

Do you ever struggle with body image and comparison? Is that like asking if you ever breath oxygen? Friends, this is such a common struggle for women. But, as my guest on this episode, Heather Creekmore of the Compared to Who? podcast says, “Just because a struggle is considered normal does not mean it is something we have to stay in bondage to.” Can I get an AMEN!

I know you are going to love this special interview episode with author, speaker, podcaster, pastor’s wife and home-school mom of 4, Heather Creekmore. And don’t let that impressive list send you in to a downward spiral of comparison!

Listen as Heather and I discuss our personal stories. And be encouraged as she provides valuable tips for stepping out of the comparison game and into the freedom Jesus has for you.

12 May 2021Ep 35: Freedom To Flourish: with Author and Speaker, Elizabeth Garn 00:47:58

Do you feel like you have the “Freedom to Flourish,” or do you feel more like you are striving to produce? In this episode we are talking with speaker, author, and my friend, Elizabeth Garn.

In her new book, Freedom to Flourish: The Rest God Offers in the Purpose He Gives You, Elizabeth shares her story of trying so hard to be a “good Christian woman,” and always feeling she was coming up short. Then, by the grace of God, she discovered the true beauty and freedom found in the creation story.

In this episode, as in her book, Elizabeth helps us see our primary purpose was laid out from the very beginning.  We were created with one powerful assignment: to bear His image to the world. Not to work, and strive, and try harder – but simply to rest in His original design for our lives. As Elizabeth says, “He created us to be His image, and that is a freeing purpose.”

14 Dec 2024Ep 110: Am I Distracted by Much Serving?00:11:50

Do you find yourself distracted by much serving? I know I do. And it is usually all good stuff! Let's take a quick look at how Jesus sees our serving and our level of distraction. Serving is good, but spending time with Him is better! If serving keeps us distracted from simply spending time with Him, maybe we need to take a step back and reevaluate. Whether at Christmas, or any time of the year, it is a good idea to regularly go to Him and ask, "Lord, am I distracted by much serving?" Scripture references mentioned in this episode:

19 Jan 2023Ep 73: My Word of the Year: And How to Find Yours 00:22:56

I’m guessing that for many of you the question, “What is your word of the year,” either excites you or just really annoys you. I get it. I have gone back and forth many times. Let's talk about it.

What’s the deal with the word of the year? Should I have a word of the year? How do I get a word of the year? If I don't have a word of the year, do I just make one up?

In this episode, I will share with you what I think about this whole “word of the year” thing. And yes, I’ll even share my own word for this year. Feel free to steal it!

11 Mar 2020Ep 4 : Decision Fatigue And the Weary Mom00:24:56

There’s always more. There will always be more opportunities and options than you have the time and capacity for. And just because some have to be left behind does not necessarily mean any one thing (pursuit, task, action) is better than the ones left behind. There will always be more. And it is possible that it is all good. Decision fatigue is real, my friends!

In the midst of a particularly emotional storm of overwhelm, I sat pouring out my complaints to the Lord. Begging (as I have done countless times over the past decade), “Lord, just show me exactly what You want me to do, exactly what path you’d have me take, and I’ll go after it!” That is when the Lord brought to my mind the story of the Israelites collecting manna.

How the heck did they choose which manna to take when it was all good!?

24 Feb 2021Ep 28: A Space of Grace: with Best-selling Author, Joanna Weaver 00:55:59

“A space of grace to become everything God wants us to be.” Aren’t those beautiful words? My very special guest on this episode, best-selling author and international speaker, Joanna Weaver is here to encourage us to live in that space of grace.

We are not talking about adding another “have-to” to your to-do list. This is not something we can do on our own. We cannot make ourselves become all God wants us to be. Our job is to just be! He will do the great work which can only be accomplished through time spent with our Father, the Lover of our souls.

Listen as Joanna shares her personal story of God bringing her to the end of herself and challenging her to “have a Mary heart in a Martha world.” Her wisdom, her kindness and her joyful spirit are sure to soothe your soul and to inspire you to step into your own space of grace to become all God wants you to be.

23 Jun 2021Ep 38: Biblical vs. Political with Joanna Weaver00:19:47

With raw transparency, Joanna encourages us to seek to be Biblical rather than political; and pleads that we not fall to the temptation to love our opinions more than our fellow man.

We all have that one thing…or for me it is usually several things…which can pop up and suck the life out of us, or at least any life resembling Christ! Well, I want you to look at this with me…

This episode kicks off a five-part series featuring real people enacting real change in the lives of homeless moms with kids. For the next five weeks we will be talking with individuals involved in all facets of the life changing not-for-profit ministry, New Life Mission.

Through a Christ-centered environment, New Life Mission (formerly Brevard Rescue Mission) exists to equip homeless moms to transform their families for generations. Through education, accountability, and goal advancement, their program empowers families to become self-sufficient and break the cycle of homelessness.

In part one of this series, we are talking with Founder and CEO, Stacia Glavas. Hear the story of how it all started when a practically homeless mom collapsed in front of Stacia’s home in 2006. And how now, 15 years and hundreds of lives later, countless families have been forever changed.

Regardless of where in the world you are tuning in from, these stories are sure to inspire you as we see how listening to the gentle tugging of the Holy Spirit on our hearts can lead us into a life of more power, purpose and impact than we could have ever planned for ourselves.

You’ll even discover simple ways that you, right now, right where you are, can begin today making a life-changing difference in a family for generations to come!

16 Sep 2021Ep 44: Raising Confident Kids00:13:48

Confident kids…we all want them! And we can learn a lot from chickens. (Didn’t see that one coming, did you?)

Mommy birds don’t assist their little ones in the hatching process. While they keep them warm and safe, they let their little ones struggle a bit on their own to ensure they have the skills they need when it’s time to leave the nest.

I’ve become very selective about helping my kids with things they can do for themselves. I know when they are perfectly capable of doing something, even if they lack confidence in their own abilities.

Knowing we believe in them is a powerful first step in our kids learning to believe in themselves.

12 Jan 2024Ep 93: What is Discipleship, and Can You Be a Mentor? With Special Guest, Angie Baughman; Plus a Great Internship Opportunity 00:37:19

In this episode we are talking discipleship with my dear friend, fellow podcaster and one of the most generous Bible teachers I know, Angie Baughman. The term discipleship may be intimidating to many, but Angie and I spend this episode breaking it down. Friends, salvation is just the beginning of the journey. Discipleship is walking with Jesus daily.

Another, important aspect of the Christian life is finding the courage to reach out and encourage others on their journey. The number one way to find this confidence is to know our Bibles. Angie has us covered there too. Angie’s Steady on University is dedicated to giving people the confidence and tools to study the Bible on their own.

Through her Step by Step Bible study method Angie, makes the powerful accessible.

Plus, Angie has a great opportunity for our listeners! If you are looking for a way to go even deeper in your walk and would love to learn from Angie and her team at SOU, be sure to check out the incredible internship program she has available.

17 Mar 2021Ep 30: Homeless to Hopeful: Stories From New Life Mission, Part 2 – with Dir. of Development, Ann-Marie Britt00:41:58

“What would you do if you weren’t afraid?” Kind of makes you think, right? When a friend posed this question to Ann-Marie Britt back in 2014 it launched her on a journey to realizing the God-sized dream that had been planted in her heart all along.

Friends, the presence of the Lord turns fear out of doors. If it is fear holding us back from stepping into the true calling of our hears, then we are outside of the will of God. Period!

As we continue in our series featuring the life-transforming work of the not-for-profit organization, New Life Mission in Brevard County, Florida, we are talking with Director of Development, Ann-Marie Britt. This episode is sure to pull on your heart strings. I have no doubt you will find inspiration from Ann-Marie’s story, and a newfound understanding of homelessness through the eyes of the children. I am so honored to bring you this interview. Please help us share this powerful message!

28 Oct 2021Ep 47: Stop Chasing Joy: An Interview with Daniel and Christina Im [Re-Air]00:51:03

Do you ever feel joy has eluded you? Are you chasing joy, but keep coming up emptyhanded? In this interview with Daniel and Christina Im of the ImBetween Show, you will not only find lots of laughs, but also practical, powerful wisdom for learning to have joy even in the hard times.

Friends, I want to encourage you; a tough life season does not have to be a joyless season. As Daniel and Christina challenge us in this episode, perhaps, if we stop seeking joy and instead focus our efforts on chasing hard after God and His kingdom, we will find joy to be a natural byproduct of that pursuit.

Or put another way, stop chasing the fruit while ignoring the root!

When we shift our focus from what’s in front of us to what we know to be true about our God, everything changes.

15 Jul 2020Ep 14 : A Plan to Stop Spiraling Emotions00:37:07

Spiraling emotions. You likely know the feeling. Everything inside you is firing. Your heart is pounding, and your head is spinning. You feel those spiraling emotions, and you feel as if you are drowning. No? Anybody?

I’ve talked to enough women out there to know I am not alone in this battle. So what is your plan? What will you do the next time you feel those spiraling emotions?

I do believe that internal peace is possible, because Jesus promised He has already given it to us! But I also know Scripture tells us we must hold and maintain our peace (Proverbs 17:28, Matthew 5:9), and we must be constantly renewed in our minds. (Ephesians 4:23) So yes we have peace! But we also have some work to do. So in this episode I lay out a plan for proactively resetting my mind and holding my peace when in the midst of spiraling emotions.

17 Nov 2022Ep 71: 19 Bible Verses for Managing Holiday Anxiety [Re-Air]00:16:38

Does the thought of “home for the holidays” sometimes conjure up more anxiety than warm-fuzzies? If you are heading into this season with slightly more trepidation than comfort and joy this episode is for you! Here you will find 19 Bible verses for managing holiday anxiety. Plus, a list of positive confessions, based on Scripture which you can use to reset and renew your mind as we go into special season.

So often this time of year I hear horror stories and watch as fear and anxiety cripple so many strong, beautiful Christian women. Does something inside you threaten to revert back to that insecure, middle school girl when faced with the ones who witnessed those fateful times in your life? Me too! But, sister…We can fight this!

If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, the very same God who raised Him from the dead lives on the inside of you, and you can walk in that power each and every moment. No circumstances, no feelings, and no past hurts have the right to take you under their control because you are a woman of God. You do not have to bow down to the old chains the enemy is trying to ensnare you with.

WARNING: This episode contains weapons of mass destruction! Use these to fight the battles that rage in your mind, and the enemy doesn’t stand a chance!

08 Sep 2022Ep 66: Finding True Worth with Maribeth Hinton00:39:42

In part 2 of my conversation with John Michael and Maribeth Hinton we talk about the freedom of leaning into your individual creative process. Maybe productivity and success are not measured by comparing ourselves to others’ highlight reels. Maybe it is about learning to lean into the unique rhythms of your own pace of life with which the Creator purposefully designed you.

And as for “life balance” – Perhaps balance is less about all things being equal and more about all things being as they should be.

If you haven’t yet, be sure to pick up John Michael’s brand-new book, Imaginate: Unlocking Your Purpose with Creativity and Collaboration! This book strikes the not-so-easy balance between insightful and entertaining, and makes a perfect gift for any age.

14 Oct 2021Ep 46: The Secrets to the Success of The Proverbs 31 Woman00:27:12

The temptation to compare ourselves isn't actually new. It's just easier, and the sources have changed. But for thousands of years the Proverbs 31 woman has stood as the pinnacle of womanly success.

She has been placed on a pedestal. She has been praised, and she has been hated. Some people say she is modeled from Ruth. Other people say she is a completely made up a woman. All of that aside, I want us to really take stock of this beautiful lady. And in doing so, I want us to be encouraged and inspired, rather than threatened and defeated.

In this episode we take a closer look at the Proverbs 31 woman and the secrets to her success that you may have missed before!

10 Dec 2020Ep 23: What is Christmas Magic?00:11:06

This time of year is precious and special for so many reasons. There’s something intangible about it. Many try to explain it away with twinkling lights, shimmering paper and festive gatherings; but those of us who know, I mean really know, why we celebrate this season can have no doubt that the reason for the special “magic,” if you will, is that this is when we pause to reflect on the greatest act of love ever known.

Have you ever stopped to think about what it must have been like in heaven that day? We often think about the Hallelujah Chorus, the rejoicing, the excitement and the angels singing, “Glory to God in the highest!” And while they certainly did do that, and there was plenty of excitement about it, do we realize what really took place? Think with me what it must have been like when God looked at His Son, and knew it was time.

26 Feb 2020Ep 3: How To Be Radiant: Maintaining Proper Son Exposure00:15:02

Have you ever had your breath taken away by a sunset? Or stood in awe before majestic mountains? Have you ever been silenced by the roaring of the sea? Or stood paralyzed at the site of the stars?

Scripture tells us that all of creation declares His glory; however, should not the thing made in His very image declare Him more than any other?

04 Nov 2020Ep 20: 19 Bible Verses for Managing Holiday Anxiety 00:18:04

29 Jul 2020Ep 15: Kids Not Listening? Try Pickles and Peanut Butter! 00:21:42

Kids not listening? Do you ever get the feeling they are tuning you out?

I am not a woman of few words. (Shocker, I know!) And my parenting is often no exception to this.

The Bible clearly tells us, too many words can be a real problem. (See Ecclesiastes 5:3) And when it comes to parenting too many words aimed towards an elementary school mind can take my attempts at wisdom and powerful Biblical advice meant to encourage and inspire and quickly turn them into little more than the sound of the teacher on Charlie Brown… “Wha, wha, wha …”

For this reason I'm bring you a practical parenting tip for those parents like me who can’t seem to wrap it up.

09 Apr 2024Ep 98: How Are We Supposed to Know What Jesus Would Do? 00:30:05

What is the surest way to accurately predict what someone will do in any given situation? Answer: Spend lots of time getting to know them, their attitudes, their mannerisms, their MO, if you will. So how can we begin to know with any certainty what Jesus would do, what choice He would make, what He would say, and how He would treat someone? Glad you asked! Let’s talk about it in this episode.

25 Aug 2022Ep 65: Imaginate: Finding Purpose Through Creativity and Collaboration with John Michael Hinton01:04:50

If you don’t already know him, I can’t wait to introduce you to “my friend John!” I'm talking about the one and only... because the world is not ready for more than one... incredible magician, speaker, and author, John Michael Hinton. There is so much more to this guy than a Rubik's Cube and an epic head of red hair.

Perhaps you saw John Michael’s mind-blowing appearance on The CW’s “Penn and Teller: Fool Us.” From never-before-seen tricks with the Rubik’s cube to mystifying card tricks, John’s shows always end by circling back to the real Supernatural, the King of Hearts Himself.

John Michael is an inspiring example of how when we lean into the uniqueness with which God made us and the passion He put in our hearts and combine that with a desire to know and share Jesus, super-natural things happen!

John’s brand new book, Imaginate: Unlocking Your Purpose with Creativity and Collaboration, is now available! This book strikes the not-so-easy balance between insightful and entertaining

This interview with John Michael and his amazing wife, Maribeth was so much fun! I can’t wait for you to listen in.

30 Oct 2023Ep. 88: Choosing Purpose Over Progress00:26:42

Sometimes we have to set aside the to-do list in order to walk in the purpose for which God has given us the day!

Ever feel overwhelmed, behind, exhausted?? I mean, I never do, but I’ve heard its a thing. 🙂 This episode is a solo show, just me, exploring my own current state of the mind. I know. Hold on to your seats! The Lord is continually showing me how to choose purpose over progress, even when that choice goes against the well-intended advice of the proverbial “they.”

In an effort to lean into my own tips from this episode, I had to forego linking every scripture mentioned for you this time, so get your notebook and Bible app ready! There are tons of verses referenced here for you to do your own deep dive. Enjoy!

24 Apr 2020Ep 8: #FightCOVID19: This Is My Story00:40:53

Isolation is dangerous ground when you are going through hard times. Sometimes we need others to help us shine the Light of His Truth in our dark places. Decide to reach out! I’m so thankful my friends were there to help me lift my hands to heaven when I didn’t have the strength to do it for myself.

And know this… I truly believe there is purpose in pain! If we will give our broken pieces to the Lord He will use them and us to impact the world for His kingdom. But we must decide to be used!

WARNING: The first part of this episode is most definitely not my most upbeat, fiery of messages. But this is real time. This is me in the midst of recovering from my battle. I sound terrible! But there are lessons learned and messages from my mess that I want you to hear right now. Right where I am.

Power Point: If you’d like to skip the personal details and jump right to the most to-the-point, power portion of this episode feel free to pick it up at time stamp (27:33).

19 Aug 2021Ep 42: Focusing on What Matters: Leaving Social Media?00:18:45

I am not anointed for social media ministry! No matter how much time and energy I pour into crafting just the right verbiage and creating the most appealing graphics, it is clear that my efforts on Instagram are reaping very little rewards. How about you? Are you finding yourself spending countless hours and precious energy on tasks that may be best left to someone else...or perhaps just left?

Sisters, it is time to take a stand. Time to say no to the stuff that is draining us, and leaving us with nothing but half-hearted leftovers to offer the tasks to which we are truly called.

In this episode I talk about what Jesus might have to say about the level of peace in our homes. And I share some very easy and fun (and FREE) tips for intentionally creating a more peaceful environment in your home starting right now!

07 Apr 2020Ep 7: COVID and Kids: An Unrehearsed Interview w/ My Kiddos00:28:28

We're all processing a lot right now. But are we checking in to see how our kids are feeling in this season? I decided to take a few minutes to ask my own kids how they are feeling in the midst of the COVID crisis...with a microphone of course!

While there's plenty of goofiness here, there were also things that came out of their mouths that blew my mind! Grab your own kids, and listen to this one together. I hope this will serve as a great jumping off point for your own family's conversation and offer some fresh perspective in this time of uncertainty.

So #StayHome and learn along #WithMe how to talk with kids about COVID.

20 May 2020Ep. 10: For the Christian Mom Who is Losing Her Mind: You Are Not Alone!00:19:48

Perhaps you’ve heard the Maya Angelou quote, “Know better. Do Better.” But what happens when you know better, but you keep not doing the thing you know to do!

No offense to Maya Angelou! I respect her work and know that she had a different message in mind with these words.

But here is where I find myself:

Once again, my big mouth and my emotional overdrive have gotten the better of me.

Once again, I let my feelings trample all over my hard-earned wisdom.

You see, it is often not that we don’t know what to do, but most often that we fail to step back and weigh our situation in light of the progress we have already made.

I don’t think I’m alone in this craziness. And neither are you, sister! I hope this episode allows you to give yourself some grace. Helps to silence the condemning voice in your head that tells you you are the only one with this struggle. And encourages you to move forward, staying in His Word and trusting that with His help we are making progress.

18 Nov 2020Ep 21: Reflections of Stillness: Showing Christ to the World Around Us00:20:10

My friends, there is power in the stillness. It is in the quiet – in the peace – that we can most accurately reflect the glory of our God. If you feel your soul is a jumbled, turbulent mess I beg you, make the time to be still.

Still waters reflect perfectly the image of the sun. Raging waters reflect nothing. When my soul is still and at peace I can beautifully reflect the image of the Son to the world around me, but when my soul within me is turbulent and tossing there’s no reflection at all. It’s merely a churning mess.
