15 Feb 2022What if Trauma is a Gift?00:43:39

Welcome to The Imposter Syndrome Files! Today, Kim is joined by Jennifer Kauffman who shares her powerful story of overcoming trauma, including surviving the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013, and how it has changed her life. As a result of these horrific events, Jennifer realized that there were pieces missing from her life that she hadn’t noticed previously. She would not wish for anyone to go through the same trauma, but she recognizes that with trauma came an opportunity to reflect more consciously on her values and goals. Stay tuned to this amazing episode to learn more about how Jennifer came to view trauma as a gift.

Forgiveness leads to acceptance and power:

Understanding what’s within and not within your control will help you cope with trauma and all the emotions that accompany it. Knowing that you cannot control what has already happened can be difficult to accept, but what’s more difficult is navigating current events without a sense of control over your emotions and actions. Jennifer shares that not having the drive to control everything has helped her find peace in her own mind.

Taking the first step:

Jennifer shares that it’s important to recognize that you don’t have to have everything figured out. Just take the first step and everything will unfold from there. It’s important to know where you want to go, but everything starts with the decision to make the journey. Jennifer also shared how she allowed her intuition to override her logical brain to free herself from physical and emotional limitations that had been holding her back.

About Jennifer Kauffman:

Despite her life’s many successes and accomplishments, Jennifer has always been in search of more: more peace, more love, more joy, more money, more passion, and more fulfillment.

She is a bestselling author, award-winning results coach, inspirational speaker, Executive Producer of Emmy award-winning films, and trauma survivor of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings. Her heart’s desire is to inspire impossible transformation in those who truly want to live a life they love—a life where they rise up and thrive!

01 Mar 2022Mastering Spontaneous Communication00:37:27

Welcome to The Impostor Syndrome Files! Join Kim Meninger and Kristy Olinger as they talk about how to master spontaneous communication. In this episode, Kristy shares how she struggled with communicating and sharing her ideas with others when she took a role in strategy. She also shares what she did to overcome that obstacle and provides strategies that worked for her so others can accelerate that learning curve. There’s a lot to unpack in this episode, so stay tuned!

Soft Skills are the Hardest!

Communicating clearly and professionally requires dexterity, and it is one of the essential soft skills needed in any work. But, while it is already ingrained in each individual, articulating ideas well is also one of the hardest to master, according to Kristy. The only way to get better is to practice. Kristy acknowledges that there are different approaches and that we all need to decide to decide for ourselves what works best. To some people, realizing they can build their communication skills with other people is empowering, and to some, it is a daunting task because it takes effort. Communication is a complex issue, but building confidence and learning how to navigate the conversation works.

About Kristy Olinger:

A 20-year career in the banking industry has taught Kristy Olinger that even the most innovative ideas are useless until you can communicate them in a way that inspires others into action. Her ability to tell the business story became the differentiator that propelled Kristy to lead the credit card product strategy of some of the country’s largest banks. For over a decade, she had been teaching these skills and mentoring individuals.

Kristy teaches communication strategies that help people build relationships and expand influence so they can crush goals.

She hosts a bi-weekly podcast, called The Opposite of Small Talk, for curious people interested in self-awareness and self-development.

Kristy lives in Wayne, Pennsylvania, with her husband Brian and her two daughters, Mary and Bree. She is an active community member and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Radnor Memorial Library.

Outline of the Episode:

[01:24] Kristy’s struggle with communication and how she coped

[05:20] Some steps to start solving the problem in communication

[10:19] Pay attention closely – it’s all about intentionality

[20:26] Spontaneous speaking can be practiced to get better at it

[26:50] Know people and their perspectives to position your message well

[31:04] Be your authentic self to communicate comfortably

Welcome to another episode of The Impostor Syndrome Files! Join Kim Meninger and Kea Meyers Duggan as they share how important it is to find the source of your anxiety to address it properly. Kea also shares her experience with impostor syndrome and how a discussion with her father led her to start her own business.

Quitting is not the solution YET:

This also prevents them from re-creating the same issue elsewhere.

She has worked with hundreds of driven emerging and experienced leaders globally to help them build the courage they need to create their own holistic vision for success then break that vision down into realistic steps they can take immediately.

With training in transformational coaching and 20+ years of experience in creating and implementing marketing campaigns for companies like Intel and Sony Pictures Entertainment, Kea is widely regarded as an empowering and inspiring coach, mentor and speaker by senior marketing and HR leaders and CEOs. 19 Apr 2022How to Be a Confident Introvert in an Extroverted Workplace00:37:07

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we examine the challenges facing introverts in workplaces that favor extroversion. My guest, Terrance Lee, the Introvert Leader and author of Quiet Voice Fearless Leader, shares his story of embracing his introverted style. We also explore ways in which introverts can more authentically engage at work and how extroverts can better understand, support and leverage the strengths of their introverted colleagues.

About Terrance Lee

Terrance Lee, AKA The Introvert Leader, had always avoided taking on leadership roles in his life.  At the age of 13, an experience occurred which caused him to doubt his ability to speak in front of people, and caused him to shy away from the spotlight.  This worked for Terrance until he eventually had to learn leadership skills by necessity at his first engineering job out of college.

When he had been working in his first role for a short time, his mentor put in his two-week notice.  Terrance then found out that he had to take his place presenting to a group of experienced engineers and pilots for a highly technical review.  Despite feeling extremely nervous, the meeting that Terrance led went well; which gave him a giant confidence boost.

Since then, Terrance has taken on many leadership and management roles as an introvert at several Fortune 500 companies in the defense industry, with proven results.  He utilizes his platform to empower introverts to tap into their own inner leadership potential and is never shy about sharing the tips that he has learned throughout his journey.

24 May 2022Where Is the Evidence?00:35:05

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we explore the ways in which feeling different from others makes us doubt ourselves and how it often pushes us to try to prove ourselves to those around us. My guest, Shirag Shemmassian, shares his personal journey of impostor syndrome as he grew up with Tourette Syndrome and worried that the opportunities presented to him were a function of his disability rather than his competence. Shirag and I explore the implications of this for others from historically marginalized groups, as well as strategies we can use to distinguish fact from the opinions and stories we tell ourselves that hold us back.

About My Guest
Dr. Shirag Shemmassian is the Founder of Shemmassian Academic Consulting and one of the world's foremost experts on medical school admissions, college admissions, and graduate school admissions. For nearly 20 years, he and his team have helped thousands of students get into medical school and top colleges using his systematic and proprietary approach.

While in high school, Dr. Shemmassian took a keen interest in the higher education process. He navigated the admissions process with limited college counseling and became the only Ivy League graduate in his high school’s nearly 60-year history. Specifically, Dr. Shemmassian received his B.S. in Human Development from Cornell University. Despite graduating with a 3.9 GPA as a pre-med student, Dr. Shemmassian’s interests in mental health led him to complete his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at UCLA. Throughout his education and beyond, Dr. Shemmassian successfully guided students into top colleges, medical schools, and graduate programs, and has found his professional calling in helping others achieve their educational and career goals.

Dr. Shemmassian’s admissions expertise has been featured in various media outlets, including The Washington Post and Business Insider. Moreover, he has been invited to speak at Yale, Stanford, UC Berkeley, and other prestigious institutions about various aspects of the admissions process.

Dr. Shemmassian was born in Los Angeles to Armenian parents who immigrated to the United States from Lebanon. He now resides in San Diego with his wonderful wife, mischievous toddler son, and 9-pound dog. Dr. Shemmassian is an avid cook and, while he dislikes the term, a “foodie” who routinely travels long distances for a great meal—his friends call him “Human Yelp” for his recommendations. He is also a huge basketball fan (Go Lakers!) and lover of geography.

14 Jun 2022What’s the Risk of Not Speaking Up?00:33:42

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about the potential risks to ourselves and our organizations of giving into impostor syndrome. My guest, Dana Vogelmeier, who spent much of her career in the same company, shares her experience with impostor syndrome and how she came to manage it. We also discuss why it’s helpful to prioritize our purpose and values when experiencing self-doubt.

About My Guest

Dana Vogelmeier launched Vogelmeier Consulting in 2018 after working over 30 years for a Fortune 50 company. During her tenure she worked for more than 25 years leading diverse teams and working for different types of leaders with their own unique styles.

She began examining the teams she led and the leaders she worked with to determine the differences. Some experiences were great, energizing, engaging, magical teams. Other times teams struggled to find harmony.

Her work with employee engagement and her own success with leading teams, led to her being selected to improve the workplace atmosphere in one division where she improved the employee opinion scores by 30%. After this, she knew she wanted to help other companies and leaders create work environments people love. She wants everyone to work for a company that they can’t imagine leaving and to feel engaged and fulfilled at the end of the day.

Dana is a lifelong learner and holds an undergraduate degree in Business, a master’s degree in Leadership, a designation of Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD), is Prosci® certified for Change Management, and Dare to Lead® trained.

She is actively involved at the local and national level with the Association of Talent Development and with Rotary International.

21 Jun 2022Let’s Talk about Neurodiversity at Work00:44:04

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about neurodiversity in the workplace. Neurodiverse professionals think and work differently, which can lead them to experience self-doubt and anxiety. A lack of understanding about neurodiversity and lack of access to resources can also create confusion and frustration among managers and colleagues who work with neurodiverse professionals. My guest this week, Toni Bator, a coach who specializes in working with neurodiverse populations, shares insights to help us better understand neurodiversity and how to better navigate it, as neurodiverse individuals, or as those who work with them.

About My Guest

After spending nearly three decades working in leadership and counseling positions in the non-profit sector, Toni Bator continues her passion for serving others to thrive. She is a member of the Asperger/Autism Professional Coaching Association and a Certified Professional Coach from the College of Executive Coaching. She earned her MS degree in Leadership from Norwich University and a BS in Psychology from American International College.

Toni is a member and speaker of the Stability Network, a growing global movement of people living and working with mental health conditions. She is a staunch advocate to destigmatize mental illness and neurodiversity in society.

He also shares powerful insights, rooted in his neuroscience background, that can help all of us better manage self-doubt at work.

About My Guest

Jason Frishman is the founder and CEO of Netcapital. Jason has been mentoring, advising, and investing in early-stage companies to help them raise their first capital for over three years. Jason holds advisory positions with leading organizations in the financial technology ecosystem, and has conducted speaking engagements as an external expert with Morgan Stanley, University of Michigan, YPO, and others.

Jason has a background in the life sciences and has previously conducted research in medical oncology at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and cognitive neuroscience at the University of Miami, where he graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Neuroscience. 26 Jul 2022Managing Conflict with Confidence00:39:30

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we look at the challenges many of us face managing conflict in the workplace. Conflict management is a crucial skill but, sadly, most of us were not taught how to manage conflict in our homes or our schools, so we lack tools and confidence in this area. My guest, Kristine Scott, a conflict expert, shares a powerful perspective on how we can better manage ourselves in relationship to conflict, both at home and at work. She offers practical strategies for how to better understand and manage our fears and, in the process, grow our power and confidence.

About My Guest

In 2008, Kristine took an AmeriCorps job running a meal program for unhoused young people. Almost 50 hungry youth arrived on Kristine’s first night. What happened next was terrifying for a young, small town white woman. Her purse went missing, there were fights and screaming guests. Kristine vowed to never return. But then something unexpected happened. A 17-year-old guest instantly turned the chaos into quiet, polite behavior with a single phrase. This began Kristine’s journey of learning from those she served, people living in constant threat and conflict. Through their mentoring and hundreds of incidents, she began to see conflict as a place to deepen a connection and counter social inequity. Kristine has since trained thousands of people how to respond not react, lean in and not lash out. She particularly enjoys working with women who are naturally skilled at de-escalation after they debunk the false narratives around gender roles. In her free time, she hangs out with her backyard ducks and sculpts scrap metal.

02 Aug 2022Grow Your Confidence with Better Time Management00:41:30

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we look at the connection between time management and confidence. Many of us think we’re frauds, or that we’re not adequately qualified to do the work we do. But how much of that anxiety stems from perceived incompetence versus having too much on our plates? We are all stretched too thin right now, which makes us vulnerable to anxiety, overwhelm and burnout. My guest this week, Frank Buck, offers practical tools and strategies to better organize ourselves and manage our time so that we can more confidently approach our work and overall lives.

About My Guest

Frank Buck is currently ranked #1 in the world by Global Gurus "Top 30" in the "time management" category. He is a public speaker, productivity coach, and author of Get Organized!: Time Management for School Leaders and Get Organized Digitally!: The Educator's Guide to Time Management. Dr. Buck has spoken to audiences throughout the United States and internationally. His mission is to help busy professionals achieve total control over their time and the peace of mind that nothing is falling through the cracks. 09 Aug 2022How We Make Inclusion a Reality00:48:14

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we explore the many benefits of inclusion in the workplace, as well as the costs to organizations of not prioritizing this business imperative. So much of our confidence, creativity and collaboration stem from our sense of belonging and inclusion in the workplace. When we create inclusive environments, we empower individuals and businesses to thrive. My guest, Virnitia Hendricks, Chief Diversity Officer of Santander US, shares her experience and perspective on what it takes to become a more inclusive workplace.

 About My Guest

As the Chief Diversity Officer of Santander Consumer USA, Virnitia provides strategic leadership to help advance the commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social innovation. Her team works hard to boldly listen and develop approaches that facilitate sustainable change. Throughout her career, her passion for transforming institutional culture has allowed her to motivate people to authentically show up, creatively lead, and leave organizations better than they found them.

With over 25 years of corporate experience, she has learned how important building an inclusive culture is to being competitive. Inclusion yields equity which results in diversity. Prior to joining Santander Consumer, she proudly served as a Principal Consultant and Executive Coach with Quotidian Group, where she used energy leadership and pursuit of passion concepts to help her clients raise awareness and develop realistic plans to achieve their goals. Her pragmatic approach to transformation also helped to bring success in her roles as Corporate Vice President of Strategy for New York Life Insurance Company and as Vice President of Operations for Travelers Property Casualty Company. The National Diversity Council recognized her as one of Connecticut’s Most Powerful & Influential Women and she’s been featured in marketing campaigns in Fortune, Forbes, Working Mother, and Black Enterprise magazines but her greatest honor is the many talented people who, through her work, have found the courage to live their true potential.

16 Aug 2022Coping with Childhood Trauma00:52:12

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we expand the conversation beyond impostor syndrome and look at the ways childhood trauma undermines our confidence and self-worth as adults. My guest, Nikki Eisenhauer, a life coach and psychotherapist, shares her personal journey as an incest survivor, the work she needed to do to believe in herself and the strategies she uses to help others who have suffered childhood trauma to more confidently navigate what she calls “adult-ness”.

 About My Guest

Nikki Eisenhauer is a Professional Psychotherapist, International Life Coach, Yoga Teacher, and Host of the podcast, Emotional Badass: Where Moxie Meets Mindful. In 2017, she launched the podcast to spread healing, empowerment, and hope to Highly Sensitive People (HSPs), Empaths, survivors, and seekers all over the world. Drawing from her personal experiences as a survivor of childhood abuse and the years she’s spent as a psychotherapist and life coach, she has mindfully designed the show to be the emotional education so many of us crave.

She truly believes in the power of healing. When we heal our wounds, let go of what doesn’t serve us, and embrace transformational self-care, we are able live a life of purpose, peace, and connection. As we each step up to do this healing work—through the butterfly effect, —we change the world.

23 Aug 2022Boys Get Sad Too00:41:58

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we look at the ways in which sports, social conditioning and other cultural factors make it difficult for men to navigate mental health challenges. My guest, Brian Thorne, shares his journey from veterinary medicine to sales professional and how his life goals guided him toward a better career for himself and his family. He also talks about his connection to Boys Get Sad Too and his decision to get more involved in public conversations about men’s mental health.

About My Guest

Brian Thorne is a mid-career Millennial who is still trying to figure it all out. He has a young kid, an old dog, and an incredible wife. All three are way too cute for him but they make a lovely family anyway. Brian works from home and has a wall full of hats. You should ask him about it.

As a child Brian wanted to grow up to become a veterinarian. Although he was in veterinary school pursuing that dream, Brian says leaving medicine probably saved his life. Today there are fewer puppies and kitties in his day job, but lessons from medicine continue to shape his career in sales. Empathy changes everything. Sometimes small bandages cover the biggest wounds. And treats are best when eaten with friends.

Brian says his new goal in life is to be a middle-manager who doesn't make work suck for his sales team. He's pursuing an MBA with a concentration in Business Development and Sales Management to make sure of that.

30 Aug 2022Bravery vs. Perfection00:37:55

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we’re talking about perfectionism. Perfectionism seems (falsely) to have many rewards, particularly as we’re growing up. But the costs of perfectionism are often higher than we realize. My guest this week, Elise Holtzman, and I explore the roots of perfectionism, how it keeps us playing small and what we can do about it.

About My Guest

Elise Holtzman is a former practicing attorney, certified executive coach, and the founder of The Lawyer’s Edge, where she and her coaching team work with law firms to grow thriving businesses by helping lawyers become better business developers and leaders.

Prior to practicing law at Fried Frank and Morgan Lewis, Elise earned a BA in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and her JD from Columbia Law School, where she was a senior editor of the Columbia Law Review.

In addition to providing consulting, training and coaching for her clients, Elise speaks frequently for legal organizations such as state bar associations, ABA Women Rainmakers, and the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). She writes articles on the subject of business development for publications such as Law.com and Law360 and is the host of The Lawyer’s Edge podcast.

06 Sep 2022This Is Not a Dress Rehearsal00:31:05

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we look at the stubbornness of impostor syndrome. My guest, Peter George, shares how, despite his ongoing success, he continues to struggle with fears of being a fraud. He also shares how he has used impostor syndrome as a force to drive him forward and how surrounding himself with good people has helped him manage self-doubt.

 About My Guest

Peter George believes that everyone should be able to confidently share their knowledge and experience. As a public speaking coach and trainer, he specializes in helping executives, attorneys, entrepreneurs, and professional speakers be calm, confident, and credible® every time they speak in public — whether they’re presenting in meetings, appearing in court, or speaking on stage.

Throughout his childhood, Peter dealt with a lisp and a stutter. Consequently, he grew up shy and introverted, avoiding communicating with others as much as possible. When he got into the business world, he quickly realized that his lack of presentation skills kept him at a disadvantage. After seeking help, he now credits his public speaking coaches for much of his business success.

Over the past 17 years, Peter has helped professionals from around the corner to those in Fortune 100 companies develop into speakers who understand how to craft and deliver presentations that engage, persuade, and inspire, ultimately helping them increase their impact, influence, and income.

27 Sep 2022Talking About Race in the Workplace00:38:35

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about having a conversation about race in the workplace. For many of us, talking about race is uncomfortable because it makes us feel vulnerable or insecure. But as my guests this week point out, avoiding these conversations and shying away from real opportunities for greater inclusion and belonging can ruin people’s lives. This week, I talk with Suman Kapur and Tiffany Castagno, consultants who collaborated in 2020, after the murder of George Floyd, to create a conversation series about race that offers people a safe space to explore deeper questions and better understand each other. Here we talk about how to think about bringing these conversations to the workplace and why it’s so important that we do so.

About My Guests

Tiffany Castagno is CEO & Founder of CEPHR, LLC, a Human Resources Consulting Firm that supports Small to Mid-sized Businesses to build their infrastructures-to-scale, strong teams, and a strong Employer Brand and Culture.

Throughout her 14-year HR career, Tiffany has supported organizations of all sizes and industries and is passionate about creating safe workplaces and Communities under DEI principles. Her Why is building more psychologically safe organizations and Cultures to support the people and processes within organizations.

Tiffany is Co-Author of a Children’s Book, “Can a Zebra Change Its Stripes?” that teaches children about embracing difference and uncovers the importance of acceptance and what it means to make diversity our strength.

Suman Kapur is a Professional Development Consultant, dedicated to supporting individuals and organizations through conflict management and culture change initiatives with a distinct focus on the values of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).

Suman approaches her work with attention toward self-care, compassion, empathy, collaboration, and awareness, all of which she recognizes as essential for transformation to a more just and inclusive society.  Suman works strategically and inclusively from data gathering to strategic planning, from designing and implementing workshops to facilitating Courageous Conversations.

04 Oct 2022Put Yourself First00:40:50

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about our universal struggle with inadequacy and self-doubt and how to find peace with who we are. My guest, Karyn Seitz, the Happiness Mentor, shares her personal journey of turning to spiritual healing to try to address her impostor syndrome, only to find that true healing comes from within. She emphasizes the importance of putting ourselves first to find true happiness. And she shares a simple, yet powerful strategy for how to do so that can change our relationship with ourselves and ensure that others get the best of us.

About My Guest

As a former spiritual healer, Karyn realized her clients were not getting better. She was frustrated that she could not deliver the results her clients wanted even though she was trying lots of different healing modalities and coaching techniques.

Karyn knew she also wasn’t getting the changes she wanted in her life. She secretly lacked any confidence in her ability to change. Her adult life had stalled.

In a fresh new search for answers, Karyn found the missing piece that would ultimately transform her life and her clients. There is something very profound in owning that she is the problem in her life. This awareness pushed her to confront herself and get serious about herself and her life.

Karyn is now fulfilled in her life and teaches others the same journey she has taken to find herself and be happy.

Karyn calls herself The Happiness Mentor and teaches an online happiness course for women called Awakened Grace.

My guest, Amber Barber, a senior director of program management in the high-tech industry, talks about her experience as the only woman studying physics when she went to college. In this week’s episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we look at how important it is to feel special and unique in our workplaces. We also talk about how challenging that can be when we feel pressured to conform and fit in. My guest, Taylor Short, shares how she helps professionals return to their true selves by understanding what makes them unique and how to best engage with others in their workplaces. She also advises that, while there may be times when it’s best to leave your job, our power comes from looking at what we can control and re-defining our relationships with our work.

She’s fired up about disrupting the narrative that work is meant to be stressful and knows what’s possible for employees and companies when they shift their relationship to their job.

Taylor helps people move from feeling stuck and overwhelmed to energized and fulfilled, without leaving their job. Having spent 15+ years climbing the corporate ladder herself, Taylor discovered a missing piece in Corporate America. The entire focus was on external success, but most employees were experiencing a significant internal struggle. Through her own work, she learned what it takes to balance these two and eventually left to start her own business – Harmonious Return - to help people reset the way they relate to their jobs. She knows when people are fulfilled internally, they tap into a goldmine of energy, passion and worth that positively impacts everything they do.

Many of us struggle with building new relationships, particularly in light of changes in the workplace resulting from the pandemic. My guest this week, Rob Maloney, host of the Heart & Hard Work podcast, shares that his default assumption is that humans want to connect, so he’s always willing to take the risk. We also talk about the power of the growth mindset and why it’s important to show compassion toward ourselves if we want to support others.

About My Guest

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about our addiction to the status quo. Each one of us is bombarded with messages about what we should do and who we should be. But those “shoulds” are rarely a recipe for happiness and fulfillment. My guest, Kathryn Burmeister, shares her journey of transitioning from a lawyer, a role she always dreamed about, to an entrepreneur focused on helping other lawyers find greater happiness in their lives. We also discuss our own mental health journeys and why it’s so important to have these conversations.

06 Dec 2022Writing with Confidence in the Workplace00:37:27

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about the power of writing at work. For much of our early lives, we write to be judged or graded by our teachers. When we transition to the workplace, the goals of our writing change, which can lead us to doubt ourselves or overthink our writing. My guest this week, Erin Lebacqz, an expert in business writing, shares her perspectives on how we can all become more confident, effective writers in the workplace.

About My Guest
Erin Lebacqz created the High-Value Writing program to help business writers develop more clarity and confidence in their writing. Her new book, High-Value Writing: Real Strategies for Real-World Writing, is based on conversations with thousands of writers around the world, and provides down-to-earth strategies and examples. Erin has been teaching writing for 25 years, both in the United States and internationally.

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about asking for help. Many of us love to help others but we are uncomfortable asking for what we need. But what if not asking for help not only hurts us but also hurts those who would otherwise help us? My guest this week, Emmett Tomkinson, shares their vision of our world as a collective that is designed to share help and that those who give help benefit just as much as those who receive it. We also talk about how you can get more involved in this effort.

About My Guest
Emmett Tomkinson lives in Seattle with their wife and two kids. They work as a Customer Success Specialist Engineer in the tech space. They have a unique gift of excelling both technically and interpersonally and are driven by a love for helping people. In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about the power of vulnerability. Most of us don’t feel comfortable being vulnerable when we feel like an impostor. My guest this week, Kris Kelso, author of the book, Overcoming the Impostor, shares his perspective on vulnerability and how it can help us normalize impostor syndrome, create safer spaces for those around us and help us to better trust the compliments we receive.

27 Dec 2022It’s Okay to Not Know00:41:39

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about the power of pushing through our fears and doing the things that scare us. Many of us stay in our comfort zones and avoid taking risks because we’re unsure of the outcome or we don’t have a perfect plan yet. But doing that is not neutral. It leads to regret and missed opportunities. My guest this week, Kathleen Taylor, shares how her curiosity and willingness to connect with others has led her in meaningful new directions. We also talk about how we can all get more comfortable not knowing.

About My Guest
Kathleen Taylor is a self-described storyteller, who believes that everyone has a purpose and a dream and always has had a passion for learning about other people’s stories.  At a young age, Kathleen’s love for travel, music, adventure, and curiosity of people was evident.  She would run around her neighborhood with an old tape recorder of her mom’s, eager to interview anyone in site and would spend hours listening to their conversations.  Throughout elementary school her heroes were Anderson Cooper and Lisa Ling who she watched every morning from school on their news show.  Kathleen has spent her career speaking with brilliant scientists and engineers across the globe, connecting them to impactful teams.  She offers strategic insight to her leadership teams to support long-term growth development and business plans.  But if you ask Kathleen what she is the proudest of throughout her career, it would always be the trusted partnerships and collaboration she has built with her people.  Originally from West Chester, PA Kathleen attended Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree and spent years studying as a classical pianist.  The world is Kathleen’s favorite destination.  She has grown in her professional development working in both Canada and the U.S and has spent several years working as an ESL teacher for children throughout China.  Her drive for adventures and passion for learning about other cultures has taken her to places such as Vanuatu, Fiji, Taiwan, Japan, France, Monaco, and Australia where she lived for 2.5 years.

Kathleen loves learning different perspectives through the eyes of other people, and she’s an individual who believes you are only one decision away from creating a new you.

03 Jan 2023Bringing Humanity to the Workplace00:49:07

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about the human experience at work. Regardless of our roles, tenures, backgrounds, etc., at the end of the day, all any organization is a collection of humans – humans with very complex emotions, experiences and insecurities. For much of history, the expectation has been that we essentially check our humanity at the door when we enter the workplace. But what if that’s not only a flawed design that hurts humans but also one that hurts businesses? After all, your ability to achieve business results depends entirely on the well-being of your people. My guest this week, Brian McComak, founder of Hummingbird Humanity, shares his vision to bring human-centered cultures to the workplace.

About My Guest

Brian McComak is the CEO & Founder of Hummingbird Humanity. He is a consultant, speaker, author, and facilitator with over 25 years of experience in DEI, HR, culture, change management, internal communications, and employee experience. He is an openly gay man and a person with a disability who shares his lived experiences in service of fostering workplaces where humans thrive.

Before starting Hummingbird Humanity, he was the Global Head of Inclusion for Tapestry – the home of Coach, Kate Spade & Stuart Weitzman – where he developed and launched the company’s DEI strategy. He put Tapestry ‘on the map’ as a great place for inclusion, earning recognition from the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index, Women in the Workplace, and Forbes’ Best Places to Work for Diversity.

Brian has also held leadership roles at leading global companies including The Walt Disney Company, L’Oreal, and Christie’s Auction House. His internal experience spans a diverse variety of industries including fashion/retail, hospitality, auction, entertainment/media and he has consulted with organizations in technology, financial services, media, and non-profit.

24 Jan 2023Career Lessons from a Corporate Spy00:34:24

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we are doing something a little different. My guest this week is Robert Kerbeck, author of the book Ruse: Lying the American Dream from Hollywood to Wall Street. He shares a fascinating story of his career as a corporate spy and the experience of being an actual impostor in the workplace. He also talks about leaving that role for Corporate America and how unprepared he was for the politics and self-serving behaviors he found when he got there. In the end, Robert shares his pivot to his current career as a writer and how that has brought him back to his creative roots. Throughout the conversation, he shares insights and advice to help others along their career journeys.

About My Guest
Robert Kerbeck’s true crime memoir, RUSE: Lying the American Dream from Hollywood to Wall Street is the story of how a wannabe actor became the world’s greatest corporate spy. Frank Abagnale, author of Catch Me If You Can, said, “Kerbeck has mastered the art of social engineering, or what he calls 'rusing', and taken it to a whole new level,” while Shondaland (the producer of the Netflix series Inventing Anna) described RUSE as "a story almost too good to be true with no shortage of wild stories.” Kerbeck’s previous book MALIBU BURNING: The Real Story Behind LA’s Most Devastating Wildfire, won a 2021 SoCal Journalism Award, the 2020 IPPY Award, and the 2020 Best of LA Award. His writing has appeared in numerous publications including the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, Los Angeles Magazine, and Lithub’s Crime Reads.

31 Jan 2023Stop Making It Bigger than It Is00:34:18

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about our tendency to make what we’re doing so much bigger than it actually is, which leads to stress, worry and self-doubt. My guest, Neha Lagoo Ratnakar, shares personal stories of times when she has overinflated the significance of what she was doing in ways that created unnecessary anxiety and stress and how she navigated these situations. We also talk about her extensive global experience, living in eight countries and speaking eight different languages, and what that has taught her about herself and humanity.

About My Guest
Neha Lagoo Ratnakar was born in Indore, India and currently lives in Amsterdam, Netherlands with her genius husband, a strong-willed daughter, and an extremely gullible dog. Neha’s nomadic life as a trailing spouse could have cost her career, and she knows what taking a break feels like. As she has continued her career journey across changing geographies and sectors, she’s faced challenges and learned invaluable life lessons. It’s these challenges and lessons that have carried her to where she is today as a writer.

When Neha isn’t writing, she’s a talent development professional and a part-time entrepreneur. She’s also been a face painter, a handwriting analyst, a website designer, and a henna artist.

In her spare time, Neha enjoys playing improv and saying “yes” to the curveballs life throws at her. And when life has nothing to throw, she shakes things up anyway by doing something crazy. Back on Your Feet is Neha’s first published book.

07 Feb 2023What Does Success Mean to You?00:36:07

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about success, including how we define it and whether that definition actually works for us. My guest, Jean Tien, intuitive mindset coach, author and podcast host, shares her S.U.C.C.E.S.S. method, which is designed to help us define and achieve success on our own terms, rather than in ways that are influenced by external pressures. We also talk about changes that need to happen in the workplace to make it easier for all of us to pursue our own definitions of success.

About My Guest
As the first-born daughter of Asian immigrants, Jean followed her parents’ formula for success. They pushed her in her studies so that she could graduate from an Ivy League university and work in a corporate setting that would provide a nice paycheck. Even though her corporate career flourished with 2 promotions in 2 consecutive years and a 6 figure income jump in only 3 years, she continued to fumble through life until she finally realized that “happily ever after” doesn’t automatically happen when you start to make more money or climb the corporate ladder. She says that following this age-old formula for success, I wasn’t allowing myself to be ME.

With over 20 years of experience, Jean knows what it's like to juggle a successful career with being a mom yet still feels like she hasn’t gotten anywhere. No matter how hard she worked to achieve more in life, Jean knew that she couldn't reach it if she kept pushing herself to conform to the expected definition of success. This is what motivated her to create the S.U.C.C.E.S.S Method for ambitious women to achieve the success they never thought possible.

Jean is also a podcast host. Her podcast, Being Unapologetically Authentically, has been featured in Armstrong Wolfe, the Financial Advisory Firm for the COO. She’s also been a guest on a number of podcasts, as well as featured in magazines, such as the Authority Magazine, an online publication devoted to sharing in-depth, and interesting interviews, featuring people who are authorities in Business, Pop Culture, Wellness, Social Impact, and Tech.

21 Feb 2023Putting Ourselves First00:39:11

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about our natural tendencies to neglect self-care because it feels too selfish or because we don’t believe we have the time. My guest this week, John Chilkotowsky, executive coach and former executive leader, shares his story of how a panic attack changed his relationship with himself and his work. He also shares insights for others who might be neglecting their own self-care.

About My Guest
What if you are the most efficient and effective being alive, but your map is incorrect?

First, you will be in constant motion that may look like success for a little while. And second, you will quickly get to somewhere you don’t really want to go.

Some might say: “But MY map is correct!”

Others might say: “I’m SO fast that I can afford to have a map that’s incorrect. I’ll just go twice the distance.”

What do you say?

As a former Fortune 100 consultant and nonprofit leader, and as a current entrepreneur Executive Coach, John Chilkotowsky learned a lot from what seemed like failures in the moment, but later as golden opportunities. He helps leaders recognize the ways in which their mindset creates their reality, and how they can create a map aligned with what they really want, and start moving towards the “gold” in their leadership and life.

28 Feb 2023How Is This Moving Me Forward?00:38:37

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about the ways in which our need to prove ourselves, combined with our fear of being exposed as a fraud, lead us to overwork and potential burnout. My guest this week, Caroline Rae, shares her story of living in a burnout cycle for over 15 years because of a constant need to prove herself, driven, in large part, by impostor syndrome. She also shares how she came to see the need for change, including a tough family intervention, and what advice she has for others facing similar challenges.

About My Guest
Caroline Rae is an executive coach and career strategist who has helped hundreds of experienced professional women to make powerful and aligned career moves they believed were 3-5 years away. In every high-stakes arena her career has taken her (from tackling health inequality to 10 Downing Street to co-founder to coach), she's witnessed the career trajectories of countless brilliant women stagnate at midlife. Caroline is committed to helping women reclaim their career mojo and have even more impact as an authentic, empowering leader.

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about the importance of self-leadership. My guest this week, Meenakshi Iyer, founder and principal at NorthStar Solutions and Services, shares her personal story of navigating much of her life feeling different from those around her. She also talks about how her experience has influenced her perspectives on leadership, including the importance of recognizing and leveraging our personal power.

13 Jun 2023Embrace Your Authentic Self00:40:04

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about the pressure that many of us, particularly women of color, feel to downplay our authentic selves in the workplace. My guest this week, Tricia Montalvo Timm, author of the book, Embrace the Power of You, Owning Your Identity at Work, shares her journey as a first-generation Latina and how her quest to assimilate led her to hide parts of her identity at work. We also talk about how we can embrace what makes us unique and what we can all do to create more inclusive workplaces.

About My Guest
Tricia Montalvo Timm is a first-generation Latina who rose through the ranks of Silicon Valley advising high-tech companies big and small, culminating in the sale of data analytics software company Looker to Google for $2.6 billion. Tricia is one of the few Latinas to have attained the triple achievement of reaching the C-suite, joining the boardroom and cracking the venture capital ceiling. Her career has spanned from working with some of the largest publicly traded multinational companies to stepping on as one of the first leaders to help build and scale several high-growth start-ups.

Tricia currently serves on the board of Salsify, a top SaaS software company whose commerce experience management platform helps brand manufacturers, distributors and retailers collaborate to win on the digital shelf. In addition to board service, Tricia spends her time as a venture capital investor and is a limited partner in several venture capital funds and an angel investor in over a dozen companies.

Most recently, Tricia served as General Counsel and Executive Sponsor of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Looker. At Looker, Tricia oversaw the company’s legal, data privacy, equity and DEI functions. During the Looker/Google acquisition, Tricia also led the company’s global antitrust regulatory process, which included review and approval from the U.S. Department of Justice.

20 Jun 2023What Am I Doing & Why?00:37:45

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about what keeps us from reaching our full potential. Although we want to continue to grow, take risks and achieve our goals, our brains want to keep us safe. This means we have a bias towards our comfort zones because what’s comfortable to us has proven to have kept us alive. Unfortunately, what got us here won’t get us where we want to go. My guest this week, Byron Morrison, mindset and performance coach and author of the book, “Maybe You Should Give Up - 7 Ways to Get Out of Your Own Way and Take Control of Your Life”, shares powerful insights and action steps we can use to get unstuck and become the people we want to be.

About My Guest
Byron Morrison is the author of 3 best-selling books and over the last decade, he has worked with CEOs, entrepreneurs and leaders in 15 different countries to help them take back control of their life and business.

Life hasn't always been this way though, for most of his life he was his own worst enemy, sabotaging everything from his health to his relationships and his personal success. After his dad's cancer he went on a journey of transformation, where after losing 50 pounds and turning his life around, he set out on a mission to help others take control of their life.

For the last decade, he’s been working with people from around the world to help them get out of their own way so that they can start living the life that they want. Everything he’s done has built up to his new book “Maybe you should give up - 7 ways to get out of your own way and take control of your life” which hits stores in June.

27 Jun 2023Recognizing & Addressing Trauma in the Workplace00:46:46

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about trauma in the workplace. While we tend to think of trauma as the effects of violence, death or injury, there are more subtle forms of trauma happening around us in the workplace at all times. My guest this week, Rosie Yeung, an “un-executive” coach for Asian and racialized women, shares her perspective on trauma in the workplace and how we can begin to address it.

About My Guest
Rosie Yeung is the Un-Executive Coach™ for racialized women professionals. She specializes in 1-on-1 and small group coaching with “model minority” women who are constrained by conflict between professional success, family/cultural values, and personal identity. Through her trauma-informed programs, she helps them tame their triggers, calm their stress, and use their power.

Rosie is also a nonviolent JEDI Warrior (JEDI = Justice, Equity, Decolonization and Inclusion) focused on anti-racism, anti-misogyny, and wealth redistribution. Her life’s mission is to help decolonize corporate Canada and heal our workplaces from the insidious inequity embedded in corporate systems.

As a Certified HR Leader, Positive Intelligence Coach™, and Chartered Professional Accountant with 20+ years of corporate and not-for-profit experience, Rosie leverages all her skills and experiences – her whole self – to help women rise higher, recover faster, and work healthier.

Based in what we now call Toronto, Canada, Rosie enjoys travel (except during
global pandemics), and has served communities in Guatemala, Ghana, Nigeria,
Rwanda, and Uganda. To de-stress, Rosie devours popcorn, movies, and ice cream - often simultaneously!

29 Aug 2023Reframing Our Mindsets00:39:14

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about reframing our mindsets. Much of our behavior and beliefs are guided by the stories we tell ourselves. So, if we want to create change, we need to examine those stories. My guest this week, Tammy Heerman, shares her perspective on the power of women’s empowerment programming and the value of sharing our stories with one another. We also talk about the freedom that comes with the understanding that we all, regardless of gender, share the same fears. What’s different is how we manage them. With this awareness, we can make more empowered choices about how we show up in our workplaces.

About My Guest
Tammy Heermann is an award-winning leadership expert sought out by some of the world’s top companies for her programs that accelerate women’s advancement. In 2021, she published Reframe Your Story: Real Talk for Women Who Want to Let Go, Do Less and Be More-Together urging women to challenge the current narratives reinforced by society, systems and those of your own making. For over twenty years, she has helped change thousands of mindsets around what it takes to lead, both self and others. My guest this week is Sheila Buswell, CEO of Buswell Biomedical and author of the book, “Is This Seat for Me?” Here we discuss her journey with impostor syndrome, which stems not from her work experience but from her identity as a woman, having been told throughout her life that she’s “too girly,” or not “girly enough.” Sheila and I talk about why we experience impostor syndrome in some situations and not others. We also talk about the power of authenticity and vulnerability to slowly change systems around us.

19 Sep 2023Pushing Past the Upper Limit00:39:53

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about the upper limit. Just as homeostasis keeps our bodies in a state of equilibrium, our minds tend to do this as well. Often, we set up an upper limit of what we think we’re capable of, or what we think we deserve, which becomes our own glass ceiling. My guest this week, Jill Avey, shares strategies for how we can push past this upper limit to better utilize our strengths and more confidently achieve our goals.

About My Guest
Jill Avey helps women leaders get promoted to the Director and VP levels. She does this by supporting her clients to develop their strengths, increase their influence, and improve team performance while navigating gender bias. She believes that everyone has talents they haven’t yet fully realized. She is inspired to help her clients find deep fulfillment in their careers, both personally and financially. Her approach is grounded in research, applied behavioral science, and her own personal experience as an executive.

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we move beyond impostor syndrome and talk about the effects of childhood pain and trauma on our experiences as adults. While it’s easy to say that, “the past is the past,” the reality is that our childhood experiences stay with us into adulthood. This week, I talk with Avi Wolfson about his journey to heal his childhood wounds, including the power of leveraging resources to help him do this important work. We also talk about how to share our authentic selves while protecting ourselves in the workplace. And, we talk about the importance of failure to achieving success.

About My Guest
Avi Wolfson leverages a career as a licensed realtor, professional salesperson, 3 time axe throwing champion, and best-selling author to help audiences directly as a professional speaker. Wolfson, an expert in resilience, entrepreneurship, and self-discovery, inspires others with his story of overcoming childhood trauma and mental health challenges and finding work-life balance. In addition, Wolfson is a proponent of failure as part of the success process, giving back positivity into the universe by paying it forward. Audiences and critics find Wolfson “creative, humble, honest and smart” and adept at growing organizations by “helping people into better positions where they’re happy and flourish.”

17 Oct 2023What the U.S. Military Can Teach Us about Leadership00:33:41

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about what the US military can teach us about leadership. If you’re like me and have limited experience with the military, your perceptions are likely based on what you see in the movies. But there is a lot we can learn from the military’s approach to leadership. My guest this week, Ben Grimes, is a former U.S. Army helicopter pilot and military attorney who now coaches and consults with lawyers, law firms and other organizations to improve their cultures and performance levels. Here we talk about the importance of trust and empathy to human-centered leadership.

About My Guest
Ben is a leadership coach and consultant who brings decades of leadership training and development experience. From his twenty-year career as U.S. Army helicopter pilot and military attorney to years as a federal government leader and recognized professionalism expert, Ben is a resource to lawyers, law firms, and other professionals working to shift performance and culture. With a focus on developing leaders grounded in principles of trust, transparency, empathy, and passion, Ben facilitates growth in personal capacity, organizational health, and enterprise success. 10 Oct 2023Am I Honoring the Calling of My Life?00:41:07

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about the power of storytelling to create greater connection and inclusion. But sharing our stories can be challenging, especially if we belong to marginalized groups. How do we stay true to what’s important to us when society tells us we’re not good enough? My guest this week, Mark Travis Rivera, is a Latinx, queer, disabled, gender non-conforming professional storyteller. Here he shares his own personal journey of using the power of stories to connect and fulfill his calling. We also talk about how we can all use vulnerability to empower ourselves and those around us.

We talk about the power of storytelling to create greater connection and inclusion. My guest shares his own personal journey of using the power of stories to connect and fulfill his calling. We also talk about how we can all use vulnerability to empower ourselves and those around us.

About My Guest
Telling stories is at the core of Mark Travis Rivera’s purpose in life. He is an award-winning creative entrepreneur and the Chief Executive Officer + Founder of The Professional Storyteller.

As a writer, Rivera’s bylines include The Bergen Record, Herald News, The Star-Ledger, Fox News Latino, and The Huffington Post. He was also a contributing writer for Imagining: A Gibney Journal, where he shared his experience as a disabled choreographer and dancer.

As a stubborn and determined 17-year-old, Rivera founded marked dance project
(2009-2019), becoming the youngest person in the United States to create and lead an
integrated dance company for disabled and non-disabled dancers. Inspired by his desire to dance as a person with cerebral palsy, he would go on to help disabled and non-disabled dancers alike find their voice as artists.

As a speaker, he has addressed audiences at various institutions of higher learning,
including Harvard, MIT, Rutgers, and NYU. As a diversity, equity, and inclusion consultant and facilitator, he has spoken to corporate audiences virtually in the UK, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, Israel, China, and India, just to name a few. 24 Oct 2023What Our DEI Conversations Are Missing00:51:06

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about how helping men to heal will help all of us to thrive. So much of the dysfunction we experience in today’s workplaces is rooted in the lack of compassion we have for ourselves, our fragile egos, and the way we perceive others as threats. This is much deeper than impostor syndrome. While we tend to focus on women’s challenges in the workplace, a giant missing piece of the puzzle is how we understand men’s experience. When men are in pain, and so many of them are, they hurt others on small or large scales. My guest this week is Sean Harvey, author of the new book Warrior Compassion, Unleashing the Healing Power of Men. Sean is an organization development consultant, an interfaith minister and much, much more. One of the things I find most fascinating about his work is the healing work he does with men in hyper-masculine systems, such as police forces and even right-wing extremist groups. Here, Sean and I discuss what our DEI conversations are missing and how compassion will lead us to far greater levels of inclusion.

About My Guest
Sean Harvey, MSOD, MSEd, is an organization development consultant, master facilitator and mentor, professor, interfaith minister, TEDx speaker, and men’s soul adventure guide. He received the Saul A. Silverman 2021 Award for Conflict Resolution and Healing from the International Organization Development Association for his healing work with men in hyper-masculine systems.

His work in personal, organizational, and societal transformation is inspired by twenty-five years of purpose, talent, and organization development consulting combined with having served on the faculties of Cornell, New York University, and Baruch College CUNY teaching courses in the areas of leadership, management, and organizational behavior and change. Sean is affiliated with George Washington University’s Center for Excellence in Public Leadership in Washington, D.C. As an interfaith minister, he co-founded Project Compassion, a national initiative to deepen compassion in police departments and communities.

In 2021, he delivered his TEDx, “Compassion Makes the Warrior.” Sean's book, "Warrior Compassion: Unleashing the Healing Power of Men" was published in September 2023 and became an Amazon New Release Best Seller for Organizational Change and Fourth Best Seller for Men's Gender Studies.

02 Jan 2024Shifting from Anger to Love00:37:54

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about leveraging the power of love languages to create long-lasting change. My guest this week, Paul Zolman, grew up in a family of abuse where he learned to be angry. This anger followed him into adulthood until he decided he no longer wanted to live this way. Here Paul shares the approach he took to change his behavior, which ultimately led to a shift from anger to love.

About My Guest
Paul Zolman is the author of Love is God. In His wisdom, He placed us in a variety of circumstances that require us to find our way back to His pure love. So, what qualifies Paul Zolman to speak about love? His childhood experience of the opposite of love. From that austere beginning, and the distaste it formed inside him, he searched for and eventually created a method that transformed his life from anger to loving everyone. Growing up in a family of abuse, physical touch became his preferred love style, only because of the regularity. He could almost count on it. It was consistent. He came to think that was the way to express love. But deep inside, he knew that was a twisted belief. He wanted a better life for himself, which is why he created a paradigm shift that works. In this book, you’ll find what helped Paul Zolman move from a childhood boot camp of abuse to being a person who loves everyone and can find good about anyone in any circumstance. This is truly the role of love.

My guest this week, Jen Schwytzer, is a life coach who shares her journey from social work in a hospital setting to coaching others to manage stress and overwhelm. We also explore steps you can take to start putting yourself first, even if it feels scary and uncomfortable to do so.

16 Jan 2024Changing Your Story00:40:15

In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about the role our stories play in our confidence journeys. When we’re doing something scary, or experiencing self-doubt, too often, our story is one of disempowerment – I don’t belong here, or I’m not good enough. It’s a fluke, or there’s been a huge mistake. But what happens when we change the story? My guest this week, Jodi Flynn, is the CEO and founder of Women Taking the Lead. Here we talk about the impact of our stories and what we can do to adopt more empowered mindsets. We also talk about the importance of consistently stretching and expanding our comfort bubbles so that they don’t shrink and suffocate us.

About My Guest
Jodi Flynn is the CEO and Founder of Women Taking the Lead, a leadership development company that works with allies, organizations, and boards to close the performance gap by attracting, developing and successfully promoting more women into senior levels of leadership. She helps organizations realize these benefits through coaching, consulting, leadership development programs and keynotes. Featured in Entrepreneur and Forbes magazines she is the host of the nationally recognized Women Taking the Lead podcast, and an Amazon bestselling author with her book, Accomplished: How to Go from Dreaming to Doing.

Jodi is a Co-Founder of The Maine Women’s Conference and has spoken at the Massachusetts Conference for Women, the Women in Banking Conference, Emerging Leaders Conference, and Podcast Movement.
