Well, you must have been under a rock on the planet Endor if you haven’t heard about the launching of the Star Wars – Galactic Starcruiser! The first flight took place on March 1st with lots of fanfare. Unfortunately, the three of us were not able to make this voyage but we thought we should at least talk about some of the food that was being served onboard. As stated by Disney you will be able to “Sample an expertly curated menu of the most delicious dishes from across the galaxy, while engaging in unique experiences that continue your Star Wars story during your 2-night adventure on Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser! Eat in style while aboard the Halcyon starcruiser at the welcoming Crown of Corellia Dining Room—known throughout the galaxy for its first-class cuisine and unique live musical entertainment.”

In Walt Disney World Parks & Resorts the contribution of women to the company is celebrated as well. QUOTE: “At Walt Disney World Resort, women have been a driving force behind many of our most treasured theme park experiences. That’s why Women’s History Month is so important to us – it’s a time to honor women throughout history, share their stories, and celebrate their achievements. All month long, “Celebrate HER Story” will put the spotlight on cherished Disney character heroines and our talented female cast members who are making positive impacts. From engineers, magic makers, and chefs to talented female-led entertainment and unique offerings, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
Last year on the podcast we also “celebrated HER Story” with a show and thought it would be great to make this a tradition. This year we are going to create a Disney Dining Experience for one real and one fictional Disney woman. Planning a meal that we think would encapsulate their passion for Disney and of course their unique personality traits!

One of the questions we get asked constantly as travel advisors is, “When is the dining plan coming back?” We wish we could ask Madame Leota to look into her crystal ball and tell us because we have absolutely no idea. On Sept. 29th, Hurricane Ian made landfall near Cayo Costa, an island off the coast of Fort Myers, just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday, it brought 150 mph winds -- tying as the fifth-strongest hurricane to make landfall in the U.S., according to the National Hurricane Center.
Enter World Central Kitchen - We have often commented on Chef Jose Andres, proprietor of Jaleo in Disney Springs, World Central Kitchen, and the amazing response that this outreach provides. Their mission states:
World Central Kitchen (WCK) is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. Applying our model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served hundreds of millions of nourishing meals around the world. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes with the urgency of now to start cooking and serving meals to people in need efficiently and with dignity. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively. To support regional economies, WCK prioritizes purchasing local ingredients to cook with or distribute directly to families in need.

We can’t believe that this is our first show of 2023 and once again like everyone else we are talking about “Resolutions”. Our first show of 2022, #128, the three of us listed out our Disney Dining Resolutions. This is where we choose resolutions for places we want to eat, snacks we want to try, or Disney food experiences in 2022. On today’s show we will revisit our 5 Dining Resolutions to see if we managed to complete some or all and if we just ended up like the majority of resolutions made and failed miserably.
What Disney Dining resolutions did you make or break this past year?
And as you know with the beginning of a New Year, changes happen. You turn a page to a new year with excitement for all the possibilities that 365 days can hold. Change sometimes is not pleasant, but change is constant. Only when we change and grow, we will see a world we never know.
While we will miss Ryan's contributions on a weekly basis, he will still be a valued Happy Plater an we hope to have him back on the show recapping his Disney trips for us! Remember you can still find Ryan and co-host, Shayne Seymour, on their weekly travel podcast, "All Things Travel", a great resource to make you a savvy traveler.

With the start of the New Year, many people make a dietary lifestyle change but for some, it is a necessary change due to food allergies. On today’s show, original Happy Plater cohost Danae is back with us (and we hope to stay) and she is going to give us some insight into just how seriously Disney Culinary takes guest requests and dietary requirements.
To quote Disney, “At Walt Disney World Resort, we take great pride in providing choice and variety for Guests with special dietary requests. You can request to speak with a chef or a special diets-trained Cast Member at most table-service and select quick-service restaurants. In most cases, no advance arrangements are needed. While restaurants take reasonable efforts to accommodate dietary requests, we cannot guarantee that they will be able to meet all requests.”

Today we start off by serving up some exciting news from Walt Disney World:
Happily Ever After will return to Magic Kingdom on April 3, 2023
Harmonious will have its final performance on April 2nd, 2023
TRON Lightcycle Run will officially open in Magic Kingdom on April 4th, 2023
Free Self-Parking Returns to WDW Resorts
Disney announced a while back that the dining plan would come back in the future, but didn’t reveal a date or timeline. We’re still waiting for its grand return, but in the meantime, it looks like Disney World will be featuring a DIFFERENT dining offer?! Let’s get into the details...
The offer, which is now available, only applies to trips booked for arrival dates between July 1st, 2023, and September 14th, 2023. Other dates may apply, but the dining card amount may not be as high. Once you check-in, each reservation will receive one promo card via email to be spent at select restaurants around Disney World. The card’s value will be determined based on your vacation arrival date, number of nights, and which hotel you choose. Basically, it works similarly to a gift card…but only at restaurants.
The offer is good for up to a $750 Dining Promo Card. Here are the values based on travel dates and resorts:
At value resorts — $35 per night if your arrival date falls from June 25th-June 30th or July 11th-31st, and $50 per night if your arrival date falls from July 1st-10th or August 1st-September 14th
At moderate resorts — $75 per night if your arrival date falls from June 25th-June 30th or July 11th-31st, and $100 per night if your arrival date falls from July 1st-10th or August 1st-September 14th
At deluxe resorts — $125 per night if your arrival date falls from June 25th-June 30th or July 11th-31st, and $150 per night if your arrival date falls from July 1st-10th or August 1st-September 14th
What do you think about this recent dining offer? How would you use the Dining Promo Card for your trip?

For just a brief moment in time, give or take 40 days, EPCOT is without a festival! The four festivals, Festival of the Arts, Flower & Garden, Food & Wine and Festival of the Holidays do take up most of the year. But if you happen to find yourself wandering around World Showcase without a food booth to visit, what on earth would you eat? Today we are going to travel around the World and take a taste of the places and countries that to us may be just as good for eating as during a festival!
On the menu will be:
One drink
One snack
One QS
One TS
One sweet treat
Overall favorite pavilion for food
What are your choices for your dining in EPCOT without a festival?

It's no secret that Disney movies have some of the very best love songs ever created. With songs like "So this is Love", "I See the Light", and "Love is an Open Door", the profound lyrics and beautiful melodies are only two of the many things that have made Disney love songs so popular. And with Valentine’s Day around the corner, we thought it would be fun to create a romantic dinner for a special Disney couple.

Today we start off by discussing the newly released Michelin Guide for Orlando, which features 9 restaurants in the Walt Disney World Parks and Resort. You can check out the guide here!
We are going to brush up on some Disney dining history with a look at how 5 of EPCOT’s eateries came to be. Since its opening as EPCOT Center in 1982, the second gate at Walt Disney World has arguably been just as well known for its food as for its attractions and theming. Over the years, numerous EPCOT restaurants in both the park’s Future World and World Showcase have become favorites of hardcore fans and casual Walt Disney World guests.
