Host Holly G and Rich Bianco are in the studio with the complete Masters wrap up.
Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in to talk about the wild week at Augusta. Bob felt that the last 1 to 1 1/2 hours got really good and lots of fireworks with Justin Rose, Adam Scott, Angel Cabrera.
"I don't think that the golfers were that affected by the rain, it was more of an annoyance toward the end," said Harig. Bob talked about the late Friday and early Saturday chaos after it was questioned whether Tiger took an illegal drop or not. Was a big two shot swing given the situation. Bob felt there was a lot of harsh comments toward Tiger without people knowing the rules. There is so much polarization and negativity toward Tiger that if it was someone else, would there have been quite the outrage. Bob covered it in his column "Time to rethink the rules" on ESPN.com.
Bob felt that even though Tiger didn't play well he still ended up fourth. If he the ball goes in on the 15th hole instead of hitting it, who knows what could have happened?
77th Masters is in the book. Todd Lewis, the Golf Channel, calls in to talk about the Masters with Rich and Holly. Holly asks Todd about how the rain affected the play. Todd feels that you have to rise to the occasion and make the adjustments. Just like the NFL. The playoffs are nothing like the conditions during the regular season. Todd felt that when Adam Scott figured out his putting on the back 9 of the final round, he was able to take over.
Todd and Holly talk about Adam Scott's past from 2009 on and his failures. Adam Scott said that he felt that his failure at The Open Championship gave him the belief that he could win a major championship.
Todd also talks about how global the win was for the game of golf. Especially for Australia. Todd feels that when the U.S. won Olympic gold in 1980 and how big that was for the U.S., it is the same for the Australians. Scott received a round of applause by the media when he walked into the press room after winning the Masters. Todd said that Adam Scott's life is balanced off the course now which lets his game be more focused on the course.
Vartan Kupelian, PGA Tour.com, calls in to talk to the Golf Insiders about the over 50 crowd that made the cut and played the final two days of the Masters. He doesn't feel that Couples had a collapse ... Extremely difficult for Fred Couples who is suffering from a bad back and 53. On the other end of the spectrum, the 14-year-old Guan Tianlang from China played so well he made the cut. But he stressed that 3 years can change any golfer.
Vartan also covers Sergio has not evolved into the player everyone thought he would turn into after he battled Tiger 15 years ago at a Major championship event.
Garry Smits, Florida Times Union, calls in to wrap up the show. There has never been two players who have birdied the 18th in the history of the Masters. Both Angel Cabrera and Adam Scott have a history together and mutual respect for one another. Holly and Gary talk about what happened to Brandt Snedeker at the Masters and looking forward to the RBC Heritage this week. It's a short, tight course. Gary feels that Ernie Els may win the RBC Heritage. Holly and Rich feel that Brian Gay has a good chance to win the RBC Heritage this week.

Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in and talks about the Valero Texas Open and the lack of the Top 50 players in the field after the Masters. The Valero is the third longest running tournament on the PGA Tour with more than 9 decades on the Tour. Bob mentions that even though the field is not full of top players, there is still a lot of good golf being played. Holly feels that Matt Kuchar needs to step up and win a tournament. The only other that might want it more would be Justin Leonard in his own backyard.
Rich and Bob talk about Carl Pettersson’s win at the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head, S.C. Ironically he would not be eligible to play for the European team at the Ryder Cup. He is not a member of the European Tour and with the commitments he would have to play there, which he doesn’t want to.
Jeff Shain from the Orlando Sentinel calls in to talk to the duo about golf and the lack of events going on. Rory McIlroy jumps back to Number 1 in the OWGR without even playing. Jeff explains to the listeners that the World Golf Rankings are based on a two-year rolling tournament schedule. So each time a player adds another event, the first event on the two-year timetable drops off. Jeff also talks about an article he is working on about how to continue to grow the game of golf during these trying times.
Todd Lewis from the Golf Channel calls in to talks about The Golf Channel's coverage of the Tour. Holly asks Todd about Luke Donald's trials of this season. Todd feels that Luke is the most under rated #1 player in the World. With his accomplishments last year there is a lot of belief that he should do it again this year. Luke has told Todd that his short game is off at this time and that he will be working on it before he competes again. The trio also talks about the former number one players, like Luke who have not won a Major championship.
Sean Gorgone, Golf Master Instructor and Coach at Sweetwater Country Club, calls in to the Show to talk to Rich and Holly about being named the North Florida Section PGA Player of the Year.

Tim feels that Bubba has won a lot of people and fans over with his recent trip to the Morning Drive, back to Baghdad Florida and his involvement with the Drive, Chip and Putt tournament. Holly talks to Tim about the Tiger factor and with his absence once again how it will affect the financial aspects of golf. Tim feels that sports fans love to see greatness no matter what sport and that is why Tiger is followed and viewed so much. Holly and Tim talk about Jordan Spieth's passion and emotion and how some seemed to criticize him for that. Palmer was very emotional person when he played. He feels that there is a way to channel that passion. Tim feels that Jordan is very good for the game. You have to look at players over a long period of time and not just judge them on one outing. People to like to see emotion and makes for better TV for sure. Holly asks Tim about the upcoming U.S. Open. Tim feels this year's tournament is wide open and that it will be a chipping and putting contest and who can handle the pressure. Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in to talk to the Golf Insiders about Matt Kuchar's recent win. With the win Bob feels that Kuchar's play over the last month has been really good. And now the win solidifies that and is not just looked at if he could close the deal on Sundays. Bob feels that Matt is a very solid player. Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in to talk to Rich and Holly from the Wells Fargo Championship. Bob talks about the ruling with Vijay Singh and the ruling on Tiger Woods a few tournaments ago. In Bob's Birides and Bogies column, he feels that Vijay got off on a technicality. Bob said that Vijay committed the violation but they let him off. Gives golf a bit of a black eye. The USGA and the R&A released a statement in great detail about the ruling on Tiger's drop at the Masters. They should have talked to Tiger at the time they discovered the infraction. David Eger, Champions Tour player and former official, was the one who called it on Tiger and eventually saved him from being disqualified.

The duo talk about Tiger's victory over Kevin Streelman, Jeff Maggert, David Lingmerth and Sergio Garcia at the The Players Championship in Ponte Vedra, Fla.
Todd Lewis, The Golf Channel, calls in to talk about The Players Championship. Todd feels that the story that people will remember is the tit-for-tat between Woods and Garcia. But friction adds to the drama. What happened motivated Tiger Woods. Holly asks Todd about Garcia's decision to tee it up again at the 17th after he hit his first shot in the water. Todd also recounts Garcia's inability to accept the blame for how he plays. Sergio has tremendous upside at 33 and Todd feels like he is maturing but also has to realize he hasn't lived up to what people expected him to become.
Holly also talks to Todd about Tiger's errant shot on 14 and how it allowed a lot of players to get back into the hunt. Whether the shot was proper and improperly dropped the ball. Casey Wittenberg said it was the correct place. Rich B also talked about Casey's responsibility to watch his competitor and he did just that.
Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in to talk to the Golf Insiders about all the news in the world of golf. "It was a heck of a golf tournament, his 4th win of the year." Bob feels that the win is overshadowed by the nonsense that has surrounded Sergio's complaint about Tiger pulling his club as Sergio hit his shot. Bob doesn't feel that Tiger was intentionally trying to interrupt Sergio's shot or pull gamesmanship. Bob also echoed Todd Lewis' comments that Casey Wittenberg told Tiger where to drop the ball, which was his call to make. Bob feels that a lot of liberty is taken on a weekly basis with the drops that follow a water hazard.

Rich B feels that the gallery needs to be more understanding. Matt Kuchar, a native of Winter Park, Fla.
Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in to talk to the team about Matt Kuchar's victory and press conference. Bob talks about Matt Kuchar being the runner up and finishing in the top 10 for the past couple of years, but this win gives him a "major" like title since this tourney is often thought of as a 5th major. Bob and Holly talk about Rory McIlroy's missing the cut and his thoughts on that as well as Tiger's play.
Rich talks about Hunter's Creek and their Get Golf Ready for May and the event Hunter's Creek is holding May 19th at 9 a.m. Golf 2.0 bringing people back to the game.

Holly G and Rich B are in the studio talking all the latest news on Tiger and Sergio, the anchoring ban and the International Network of Golf Spring Conference. While at the ING Conference at Reunion Golf Resort Holly was paired with the rep from Bridgestone golf who fitted her for the first time with the correct ball for her swing speed and smash factor. Holly said not only does your swing speed have a lot to do with the ball you should use, it also has a lot to do with where you hit the ball off the clubface each time.
Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in to talk to Holly and Rich about the latest news in golf. Holly asks him about Sergio Garcia's press conference at a European Tour event where he offered an apology to Tiger. The backstory is that Tiger Woods and Sergio have been going back and forth after an "incident" at The Players Championship. With the two paired together and contending for the lead at The Players, Tiger pulled a club from his bag at the same time Sergio was about to hit his shot 50 yards away. Tiger thought Sergio had played his shot already. The selection caused the crowd around him to react and Sergio felt that the noise affected his shot. The two have been exchanging comments in the media ever since. At a banquet in London, Sergio was jokingly asked about getting together with Tiger. Sergio said, “We will have him round every night. We will serve fried chicken.” The "racist" comment hearkened back to the comment Fuzzy Zoeller made about Woods at the 1997 Masters Tournament which haunts Fuzzy to this day. Sergio apologized at the press conference.
Bob mentions that the two have only played 20 times in the past 13 years, which is not very often and does not know where the animosity comes from? There have been a few incidents over the years where Sergio has taken opportunities to poke at Tiger and the same with Tiger and Sergio. Harig also mentions that the other part of the situation is that Sergio has to worry about his sponsors staying with him and the fallout from his comments. Especially when he is making most of his money off the golf course.
Holly talks to Bob about his article on ESPN.com about the USGA's ban on anchoring when putting. The ban takes affect in 2016. Bob feels that not a lot of players will be affected by the ban. Even the players that have had success with the anchoring of the putter say that it is an advantage, which is not fair to other players. There has been speculation that the Tour may do its own thing, but Bob doesn't feel that will happen.
Holly talks to Kevin Baker, Director of Golf and head PGA Professional at Reunion Golf Resort & Spa about everything that Reunion has to offer golfers and their families. Holly was at Reunion for the ING Spring Conference. Reunion offers 3 different courses, Palmer, Nicklaus and Watson. Each course is different than the other but none is a "signature" course. Reunion is a Stay and Play resort as well as host to 1oo events throughout the year. It is also home of the ANNIKA Academy and Frank Thomas' Putting Pad - a structured way to teach putting and the new home of the North Florida PGA Headquarters.
Jeff Shain, PGA Tour.com, calls in to wrap up the hour of intelligent golf talk. Jeff and Holly talk about his latest story about the Web.com Tour. The discussion also covers the HP Byron Nelson Championship and Sang-Moon Bae's win. Also the upcoming Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. Holly G and Rich B are in the studio. Holly and Rich briefly discuss Boo Weekley’s win at the Colonial. That makes 3 tartan jackets for Boo, who is from Florida's panhandle near Milton.
Holly sat down with Frank Thomas at Reunion Golf Course recently to talk about the anchoring ruling by the USGA. Frank spent 26 years working for the USGA. One of his jobs was helping to write equipment rules for the USGA. He now runs The Putting Pad at Reunion GC. He was also the individual who introduced the graphite golf shaft to the industry. "The Anchoring Rule ... is a very complex rule and it tries to tell people how they should hold the club, which is the first time we've done that in the history of the game. I think it is going to be cumbersome and difficult to interpret and difficult to monitor. However the USGA believes that they can rely on the integrity of the individual and his intentions to get this rule working effectively," Thomas said. Thomas feels that anchoring doesn't improve the putting of some of the best players in the world. It does help improve the performance of some of the bad putters and the long putter is very much more efficient than the belly putter. However, we need to recognize that the best putters in the world are not anchoring. He said that about 40 percent of your score is from putting and about 45 percent of the game is spent on the putting green. Frank teaches proper putting and has designed his own putter. "We don't really understand putting very well and it hasn't been and not been teaching teachers how to teach the systematic and structured approach to putting," he said. "When you start using the long putter you start losing feel." Following is an excerpt from the PGA's statement on the USGA's decision. Although we do not agree with the decision, we applaud the USGA for its willingness to listen to our concerns and engage in meaningful discussions. In our opinion and based on our experience, the USGA treated the comment period for what it was intended to be -- a time to exchange opinions, concerns and potential solutions. Bob and Holly talk about Tiger's stiff neck after sleeping in an uncomfortable bed.
Bob talks about how the points have changed. Each win in the regular season of the PGA Tour is 500 pts. If you win one FedEx Cup event, it is 2,500 points or the equivalent of 5 PGA Tour wins. Now you have to perform in the playoffs.
If you finish in the Top 30 at the end of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, you automatically qualify you for the first 3 Major championships in 2014 if you are not already there. Bob feels that the when it is all said and done, finishing in the Top 30 at the end of this season is not a whole reflection of the entire season.
The positive of the FedEx Cup is that for the next 5 weeks draws the attention of the world as some of the best players are still competing at the end of the season. Bob's pick on ESPN.com is Webb Simpson to win the first event.

The rough at Medinah Number 3 is almost like no rough at all the way that Davis Love has set up the course to “favor” the Americans. Two most important players Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods that need to play well. The main characteristic that both of them benefit from is no rough like Augusta where both have played well. Brian feels that players with the best Ryder Cup records are on the other side playing for the best are on the European side. Jeff Shain, Orlando Sentinel, calls in from Medinah to talk about the pairings for the Ryder Cup and how that will affect each team. Jeff feels that the infusion of young players on the U.S. will help bring energy to that team. Holly and Jeff talk about possible weak links on the European team. 15 Jun 2017 | Golf Insiders: Golf Writers Association of America President, Gary VanSickle foresees weather conditions affecting the leaderboard this week | 00:13:15
After several blunders over the past few years, the USGA is under pressure to ensure that this year's US Open goes off without a hitch. While rules officials will be scattered across every hole at Erin Hills, the USGA is relatively helpless against the potentially inclement weather that threatens the area. Gary VanSickle reports that the US Open likes to air on the side of caution when it comes to weather, which may partially explain their decision to cut back the controversial fescue lining the fairways. On the positive side, players may have an advantage on the greens which should make for some dramatic play over the weekend. "“It’s hard to see the greens getting firm and fast with this weather.” - Gary VanSickle ____________________________________________________________________________ WEEKLY PODCAST WITH TOP GOLF REPORTERS FROM GOLF CHANNEL, ESPN, GOLFWEEK AND MORE!
