05 Oct 2021 | Motherhood, Mental health & Mindfulness | 00:55:39
In this episode my friend shares her remarkable story. Fiona is a corporate coach, actor, writer and mindfulness teacher. Her life changed dramatically in 2015 after the birth of her first child, when she suffered from a rare mental illness, post partum psychosis, and attempted to take her own life. After weeks on a trauma ward for injuries to her back, months on a mother and baby unit and a year of recovery, she decided to use her experience to support others and now works in perinatal mental health as a peer support worker, has her own corporate coaching company, writes for the screen with her writing partner Nuala Calvi, who she met at a group for women who were struggling with motherhood, and teaches Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. She is a strong believer that not only can you recover from mental health problems, you can be strengthened by them. She went on to have a second child in 2018, which was not without problems, but she avoided the 1 in 2 chance of becoming unwell with PP again, helped greatly by her meditation practice. 16 Aug 2022 | How To Want What's Good For Us - Luke Burgis | 01:02:14
In this conversation we dive deep into why people want what they want. Luke explains that It’s all based on the notion that, in the end, we will either be masters or slaves of our desires and that we can choose the outcome. True freedom is the freedom to want what is best for ourselves and for others. Luke was at a point in his life where he had all the trappings of external success but felt he was on autopilot. Just wanting what everyone else wants not what he truly wanted. When the biggest business deal of his life fell through, he weirdly felt a sense of relief. He went on to study human behaviour and how mimetic desire works. This ultimately set him free and on to a path of real meaning.

Our Guest on this weeks episode is Professor Paul Dolan, a behavioural scientist and author of the bestselling books Happy Ever After: A Radical New approach To Living Well and Happiness By Design: Finding Pleasure and Purpose in Everyday Life. He believes that happiness is in the small stuff, in our daily routines, it's actually not that complicated. We were mesmerised by his wit and insights! We discover happiness simply lies in what we choose to pay our attention to and what we choose to ignore. We explore societies, stories and narratives and how they may push us to chase career paths that might actually be bad for us.

14 Sep 2021 | Our story - from sickness to health | 00:10:11
This week we talk candidly about how we went from beer swinging lushes to tee total vegans. In 2011 Sharon was struck down by a rare autoimmune disease, Dermatomyositis a rare skin and muscle disease that left her practically in a wheelchair. She was put on a concoction of medicines and was told to accept her “new normal.” There was no cure, but they told her they could manage the disease through drugs. After losing most of hair, little improvement on her muscles and a very extreme skin rash, she went on a mission to find another way. We discuss the highs and lows of trying to get well at a time where my husband had just left me and we were struggling with small kids. We decided to turn our backs on the bottle of red to cope and turned to wheatgrass and turmeric shots and we’ve never looked back.
