24 May 2021#182 Swapping from Nikon and what is fine art photography?01:12:32

Kev is luxuriating in Bunker Malmesbury, Neale is in the studio, though it’s business as usual with your questions. This week, is there any point to IBIS when films today are as ‘Shaky' as an 80s pop star singing Green Door? We talk about taking on a part time job if wedding work gets shifted again, whether we could return to a time which necessitates shooting with film cameras only, Clubhouse, the banning of street shooting and we debate fine art photography; what is it? The boys tempt a lifelong Nikon shooter with a shopping list, we sort out the black and white simulation options in camera, and discuss perfect pancakes of the lens variety. The book of the week is Todd Hido’s 'On Landscapes, Interiors and The Nude' and our Friend of the Show interview is with Steve Vaughan.

08 Nov 2021#206 Being a movie stills shooter & to drone, or not to drone...01:13:41

Neale and Kev ponder whether to believe in Father Christmas over the politicians, we discuss the new lens roadmap and Viltrox lenses, the value of signed photography books, we tip our hats to Salgado’s latest exhibition, discuss the charges made to videographers in UK churches, lightroom rescues, drones and X100 cameras; are they the perfect all round travel companions? Book of the Week is Jim Marshall’s 'Show Me the Picture' and our guest is unit stills photographer Darren Goldstein.

26 Dec 2022#236 Nostalgia, rock ’n’ roll and the missing mince pies00:49:10

It’s Boxing Day 2022, there’s no let up for ya from the boys, as they meet for St. Stephen’s Day in the Podcastsphere. Today Kev receives preset orders from unlikely places, reveals his top movie of all time, we discuss the magical X100V ‘zoom’, new critiques for ’23, more on delete and sharpening-gate, street photographers with attitude, X-H2s or the H2 and Kev delves into Eric Luke’s Changing Faces of Ireland book.

25 Mar 2019#7 Street photography and 9/11 remembered with Jason Florio01:00:27

23 Nov 2020#156 The Blind Photographer, and an X-T5?01:22:21

Are wedding awards important? Are any photographic awards for that matter worth entering? Also, wedding photographers may be suffering financially during this period, but have they forgotten what the day is really about? Is there a need for an X-T5, what is left to improve upon? How can you motivate yourself day to day photographically? This week’s book of the week is John Chilllingworth’s Picture Post Photographer and our guest is a Ian Treherne, a photographer who is 5% sighted.

26 Jul 2021#191 Indie camera shops and good news for Euro street shooters01:15:34

Kev’s overheating and he’s had just four hours sleep in as many days! Neale is pining for Africa again as the boys talk about where they’d like to make photo stories when the world opens up. Tamron has a new lens for us to look forward to, packing a bag for 24 hours in New York City, The Great British Photography Challenge, watermarking, a tool that can select our best pictures by ai, self publishing, why Kev has fallen out of love with Wordpress and street shooting legally; good news! The book of the week is Do Photo by Andrew Paynter and our guest is Northern Ireland’s only independent camera store owner, photographer Pascal Diamond.

01 Jul 2024#275 Time to try film, or is it? And all hail the mighty Viltrox lens00:49:57

Kev’s been doing what can only be described as speed-head-shooting, though his passion for country music is at last paying off as Neale eulogises about a Mullins favourite, Hank Williams. Also on the show, a shed-load of darkroom kit has turned up at Mullins HQ, the difference between dentists and photographers, using second shooters and assistants, going strength to strength with Viltrox, buying an X100VI alongside an X-T5, trying too hard and not feeling your picture making is improving, how tinnitus has cut short a career and how to photograph locations that aren’t necessarily so photogenic.

22 Mar 2021#173 Being a photojournalist. Plus too old for street?01:21:00

Kev is installed at last in the new office, Malmesbury Bunker 2.0 and we ask the questions; will the show ever be filmed, when are you too old for street shooting, should you choose an X-Pro1 or 2 used, who needs a camera in a cardboard box, should I supply all my clients with TIFF instead of Jpegs, has Covid made photographers give away their knowledge too readily too cheaply in too many online courses and if you had 5K to invest in a camera that would hold its value, what would you choose? Former British National Press Awards Photographer of the Year, PA Media photographer Danny Lawson is our guest and Kev’s book of the week is Henri Cartier-Bresson’s Scrapbook.

02 Nov 2022#232 The X-T5 has landed here’s why you may need one!01:20:54

Kev is back from Japan with news about new cameras and lenses and he’s pondering a clear-out of his camera bag - quick it’s a Mullins everything must go sale! It’s a special FujiCast week with new kit announcements, plus we talk about entrusting your post-processing to a computer; is artificial intelligence good enough to process a look and feel into your precious photographs? Also, are cameras becoming too small for comfortably holding, do you wear ear protection on loud jobs, what spare items do you carry in the kit bag that are not photographic but possible ‘life savers’, how long do you really need to hold on to raws, do your LR pictures need deworming, is Twitter the new ‘best’ way to share our pictures, and would you like a GFX and a stash of cash for the year to go and make the best photo story? On top of this, special guests from the UK and Japan to celebrate what Kev believes will be the best selling X-T of all time!

24 Apr 2020#94 Infrared pictures, complaints and a BIG photo challenge00:27:26

Kev is photographing in the boxing ring with a GFX; hope he can duck out the way quick enough! Questions today into the show about making a macro investment, finding a perfect workflow that isn’t complicated when it comes to saving our precious pictures for all time, will more and better ai editing software reduce the need for personal presets, in wide-angle land - what’s too wide when it comes to hitting the dance floor at a wedding to get super expressive shots, what does it mean to drag a shutter, and am I wise to register a domain more locally sounding that a dot com? The book of the week is You Rebel Scum by Daz Smith, a ten year project to document ‘rebels in society.'

06 Sep 2021#197 ASK ANDREAS part 1 and swapping our X-T or X-Pro for a GFX?01:24:13

Kev is recovering after his marathon of weddings, so it’s a welcome sit down for a coffee and chat about what makes the perfect photo book design. We also talk about swapping our X-Ts and X-Pros for a GFX, the latest Fujifilm Summit, Kev gives dubious flying advice for nervous fliers but sterling advice for a sixteen year looking at a photographic career. We ponder whether cloud back up is safe enough and expensive, if Fujifilm could add shutter sound effects to bodies to resemble favourite classic camera sounds, protecting the X100 series lens, using the X100V’s digital zoom and what 'non-photographers' appreciate in a professional picture. 'Hey look at this' by Dennis Skyum is the ‘book of the week’ and it’s part one of the latest Ask Andreas, where the Group Marketing Manager for Fujifilm answers your brand questions.

14 May 2020#114 Kevin's getting married AGAIN! And what can we photograph professionally now?00:27:36
We're hoping that Gemma (Kev's wife) gives this episode a miss, as Kev seems set on some pretty big next wedding plans. Also today and on a more sobering note, what are we going to do with the extended break from earning professionally? And there's more on the forthcoming Martin Parr interview.

31 Jul 2023#251: Buying a Fujifilm classic camera, turning pro and #getridofsepia00:38:37

Kev sips his first ceveza by the pool serenaded by several thousand cicadas in the midday sun upon a hillside somewhere in Spain, but fortunately, we recorded episodes in advance, so this week; changing out from a DSLR to a ‘vintage’ Fujifilm X-T1, will it be good enough considering its age? Also, choosing your first lens for the Fujifilm system, Kev’s old cameras keep turning up thousands of miles away in Africa, inspired by artwork, hyper-realist portraits, turning professional in 18 months and just why is there a sepia-toned preset still???

21 Apr 2020#91 No Tech Tuesday - personal questions instead!00:27:28

First of our No Tech Tuesdays where you get to ask Neale and Kevin anything that comes to mind as long as it's tech free. A real mixed bag and the boys almost come unstuck immediately with the question; have you ever fallen out? There'll be a new Daily Photo Challenge too. Send in your questions about photography to click@fujicast.co.uk

07 Dec 2020#158 Keep pushin’ as Nana used to say. Motivation Day!01:20:47

Kev’s still in Bunker Malmesbury as Covid restrictions prevent the boys being in the same airspace as one another, but they still manage to tackle X100V questions, how they intend to get match fit for the return of weddings, their feelings about Instax products, recovering lost files, Martin Parr’s old and new work, the importance of testimonials, messing up mid job, presenting a photo TV show and stitching panoramas. Pete Reed is our special guest and Josef Koudelka’s ‘Gypsies' is the book of the week. As ever send your questions in to: click@fujicast.co.uk

09 Apr 2020#79 "Feeling first, technique second." Making the perfect picture.00:28:43

Today on the show, probably the hardest challenge we have ever set plus a question on what floats our boat, spiritually and artistically in a picture. Kev gets some Instagram lessons and Neale reveals what he's holding out for once lock in is done and we tentatively all return to that place called work.
