Ami Mann is an award-winning TV and film writer/director and fiction writer. Her most recent film, Audrey’s Children, was released theatrically on March 28, 2025. Set in 1969 Philadelphia, the film stars Natalie Dormer as Dr. Audrey Evans, the revolutionary pediatric oncologist who gained worldwide recognition for her groundbreaking work in treating children with neuroblastoma.
Mann’s passion for filmmaking comes through her body work across both the big and small screen. Her debut feature film Morning won several festival awards, and her follow-up Texas Killing Fields, starring Jessica Chastain, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Chloe Grace Moretz, was nominated for the Golden Lion at the 68th Venice International Film Festival. Additionally, her film Jackie and Ryan, starring Ben Barnes and Katherine Heigl was nominated for the Orizzonti at the 71st Venice International Film Festival. Her feature film
In television/streaming, Mann’s pilot episode block of the Netflix series In From the Cold reached Netflix’s Top 10 in the US and internationally. Other series directing work includes House of Cards, Shots Fired and Sneaky Pete. Her episode of Friday Night Lights, “I Can’t”, received a Television Academy Honors Award for Television with a Conscience. And we’re lucky to chat with her today about how she brought her latest indie film, Audrey’s Children, to life.

The first in a new strand of episodes on the business of film wonderfully called 'The Business of Film Explained'.
The fabulous Stephen Follows joins Giles Alderson and Phil Hawkins to talk facts and figures of the film industry to help you, the filmmaker understand why certain films do well and others don't by crunching the numbers of films and filmmakers.
In this episode we ask the question What percentage of directors, producers and writers make more than one feature film.
We go in depth into the the numbers and also discuss:
Is it a failure or not if you don't make a second film?
Why you should be a 'verb' not a 'noun'.
Is it harder to get a second screenwriter credit within five years?

Stephen has taught at major film schools and his script-writing has won Virgin Media Shorts, the Reed Film Competition and IVCA awards; has been nominated at the British Independent Film Awards, and long-listed for a BAFTA
Stephen has produced over 100 short films and two features, Baseline and The Grind.

BAFTA and BIFA winning director Mark Jenkin talks to Giles Alderson on this weeks episode about making his films and they dive deep into shooting on 16mm film and his latest feature, Enys Men which is OUT NOW!
One of the most exciting filmmakers working in the UK today. Mark has been showered with praise for his BAFTA-winning feature film 'BAIT'. A native son of Cornwall, Mark Jenkin is a British director, editor, screenwriter, cinematographer and producer.
ENYS MEN is in cinemas now. The Cinematic DNA of ENYS MEN season [curated by director Mark Jenkin] runs at BFI Southbank until 31 January with selected films and Jenkin’s shorts collection available on BFI Player now.
ENYS MEN will be released on Blu-ray/DVD and BFI Player on 1 May. The ENYS MEN Original Score by Mark Jenkin is out now digitally via Invada Records and released on vinyl on 24 February.
