“Every day lost, every excuse invoked, every tactic invented only increases the damage to human life, to the environment and to the generations who will have to fix the broken pieces.” Documentary filmmaker Pascal Gélinas wrote these heart-wrenching words to his grandson in a public letter released in November 2020. These words are the concluding statements that followed a long, detailed description of the biological effects of RF-EMF that Gélinas has been documenting and sharing with his many followers.

The consequences that accompany the so-called “advancements” of 5G have been largely ignored by both the U.S. and Canadian governments despite ample up-to-date science linking RF-EMF radiation to effects on humans as well as on birds, bees, and trees. EHT founder Devra Davis recently described how the technological push toward 5G has been provoked by unnecessary geopolitical and ecological gamesmanship — a game with no victor, and certainly no eye toward public health.

In this Silver Patreon event, Gélinas, Davis, and Fauteux discussed why this rejection of sound science continues and the “malpractice” committed by federal agencies for their refusal to address public health concerns. They also evaluated priorities for the incoming Biden administration, including appointing independent commissioners to the FCC, requesting a National Academy of Science committee review of the science underlying 5G, and identifying major data gaps and uncertainties about the economic efficiency of 5G. They also discussed the new film, Prisons Without Bars, a documentary produced by Gélinas’ wife Nicole Giguère about electromagnetic hypersensitivity.

"A technology that I had once thought was harmless, it turns out to be harmful so I'm here to tell you what that harm is."    Dr. Kent Chamberlin is chair and a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the University of New Hampshire.  In this Patreon presentation, Chamberlin discusses how the telecom industry fights against any limitations to its wireless infrastructure, the FCC's unprotective safety standards, and why our regulatory agencies don't do more to protect the public.    Chamberlin was appointed in 2019 by the university system chancellor to serve on the New Hampshire 5G Commission. The commission was formed by legislation passed by the state assembly. The 12-person commission met for a year to review the science and to speak to outside experts.    Chamberlin said all the presenters except one provided clear evidence that wireless radiation posed a threat to human health and the environment. The presenter who did not acknowledge those risks was the presenter from the telecom industry. That presenter was also the only person paid to present to the commission.    The commission concluded in its report that 5G poses a significant risk to health and the environment. Three commission members dissented, including the two commissioners who were representing the telecommunications industry and state Sen. James Gray.    Nonetheless, the majority of the commission developed a list of recommendations, including establishing a 500-meter setback for the installation of cell towers. A setback law is designed to protect the people from wireless radiation exposure from cell towers, It would mean more costs to the telecom industry to position towers out of harm's way.     Legislation has been written to implement the commission's recommendations but it won't be voted on until fall 2022. Chamberlin calls it an uphill battle because of telecom's deep pockets and its threats to challenge lawmakers who vote against the wireless industry.     In the meantime, telecom continues to argue that the health impacts are not attributable to the wireless infrastructure despite hundreds of studies showing a relationship. Chamberlin says telecom is counting on the public shrugging at the experiences of those who are electro hypersensitive since many of the onset symptoms are common — nausea, headaches, fatigue, insomnia, memory loss, confusion, and weakness. Studies show that ongoing exposure to electromagnetic fields may cause more serious issues, like the creation of radical oxidative stress in the body that could lead to other diseases.     "You're probably going, 'Wow this is serious stuff. How come we don't know about it?'" Chamberlin said. "You would expect this to be on the front page of newspapers but please consider where does a lot of the advertising revenue come from? For many news outlets, who advertises a huge amount? You know, the companies, the telecom industries. So apparently from what I've seen, news outlets are very unwilling to bite the hand that feeds them."

In this episode, Dr. Ronald Melnick  presents on cell phone radiation and cancer, presenting the findings of the National Toxicology Program animal study on cell phone radiation. Dr. Melnick was the Senior Toxicologist in the National Toxicology Program (NTP) at the National Institute of Health Sciences for 28 years. He led the design of this 30 million dollar NTP study which was carefully controlled for radiation exposures. The animals lived in underground bunkers to ensure they were not exposed to cell tower radiation. The scientists found cell phone radiation led to clear evidence of cancer, DNA damage and heart damage.

Although the FDA asked for large scale studies, now the FDA itself  states that they do not accept the findings. As a result, Dr. Melnick and many other scientists have written extensively about how important  the findings are debunking the many unfounded criticisms circulating in the media.  In fact, Dr. Lennart Hardell and Dr. Michael Carlberg as well as EHT scientists have  published numerous reviews concluding that “there is clear evidence that RF radiation is a human carcinogen.

In this episode, Dr. Devra Davis discusses the latest scientific research surrounding 5G, the Internet of Things, and wireless radiation. She is the founder of the Environmental Health Trust.

Imagine being told that you don't have to worry about your children being poisoned by lead because you don't fit the demographic. That's what Tamara Rubin heard from medical professionals after her children were poisoned during the rehab of their family home.   After she moved her family out of the house, Rubin, who had a background in film production and performing arts began investigating the toxicity of lead paint and laws to protect families. She decided that she needed to produce a film for families from all walks of life who may not realize that their children's behavioral problems could be caused by lead in paint that is not adequately regulated.  As it turns out, even though lead paint is "outlawed" in the U.S., lead paint is still used in imported household products and toys, and lead is still used in industrial paints for marine and transportation infrastructure.   While new household paint is "lead free," meaning it contains fewer than 90 parts per million lead, the level that is toxic for children, lead paint on existing homes is not "illegal" in the U.S. if the paint contains fewer than 600 parts per million. In th U.K., the limit is 20,000 parts per million.   But in order to get federal funding for remediation of your home, a property must test positive for one milligram of lead per centimeter squared, which is roughly equivalent to 5,000 parts per million lead. If your house tests positive for 0.9 milligrams per centimeter squared, or roughly the equivalent of 4,500 parts per million lead, — which is a lot more than 90 parts per million lead — then the home is not eligible for federal funding and intervention.  With the laws as incomplete as they are, Rubin, who runs the Lead Safe Mama blog (https://tamararubin.com/), urges families to get educated so they can create a groundswell to petition government agencies to combat lead in household products and remediate older properties.

EHT et al. v. the FCC seeks to have the Court order the FCC to remand, vacate and update its 25-year-old exposure guidelines for radio-frequency radiation (RFR) from cell phones, cell towers, Wi-Fi, 5G and other wireless communication devices. In this episode, Dr Fiorella Belpoggi, Head of Research at the Ramazzini Institute and Director of the Cesare Maltoni Cancer Research Centre, discusses the findings of their large scale animal study which investigated the effects of wireless radiation on cancer. The lecture is titled “Carcinogenic effect of base station environmental emission? ––The Latest Results of in vivo Studies”. The lecture was given at the 3rd International Forum of Protection from Electromagnetic Environmental Pollution in Krakow Poland in 2018. The government of Krakow Poland not only measures the radiofrequency radiation but also hosts expert forums inviting scientists worldwide to present on electromagnetic radiation.

In this talk, Dr. Belpoggi shares that chronic exposure to low levels of wireless radiation caused cancers in the rats. The most shocking of her findings was that the tumors found in the exposed rats mirror the findings from the multimillion dollar NTP study from the United States, further solidifying the findings of both studies. Both studies - done far apart - found the same types of tumors. These tumor types found in the  animal studies are also the same tumor types found in people who use cell phones for a decade, which is why several scientists have published research documenting how these studies prove wireless radiation is a human carcinogen.

Dr. Belpoggi and her team have conducted and published numerous studies on the short – and long-term effects of various agents

These include: food additives, solvents, packaging plastics, pesticides, hormones, endocrine disruptors,  gamma radiation, electromagnetic fields from power lines (ELFEMF), and radio base stations (RFR/MW).

In 1992 she was nominated as a Fellow of the Collegium Ramazzini and currently serves as a member of the Executive Council. Dr. Belpoggi has authored more than 100 publications and is an Invited Lecturer of Industrial and Environmental Carcinogenesis at various schools of public health and universities. She represented the Ramazzini Institute on the Faculty Council of Veterinary Sciences at the University of Padova and works with European agencies, as well as the United States National Toxicology Program.

It’s important to remember that radiofrequency radiation––which comes from cell phones, WiFi, and other wireless devices––is often touted as being undeniably safe. However, the National Toxicology Program study (the NTP study), The Ramazzini Institute research, and hundreds of other studies demonstrate otherwise.

Devra Davis combines her deep personal connection to issues of health and the environment with her formidable scientific expertise, arguing for fundamentally new ways of thinking about health and the environment. Before she became one of the world’s leading epidemiologists, Davis was the victim of environmental pollution. As a young girl in Donora, Pennsylvania, she saw 20 of her home town community members die and scores permanently injured in the smog disaster of October 26th, 1948. In her new landmark book, When Smoke Ran Like Water, Devra Davis documents how environmental toxins contribute to a broad spectrum of diseases. The book’s title alludes to an event 50 years ago in London. Davis writes that “cool air from across the English Channel settled over the Thames River Valley and did not move. London’s eight million residents huddled indoors and warmed themselves by their coal stoves. Smoke ran like tap water from a million chimneys.” The inversion layer that had formed over the English capital trapped the coal smoke at ground level. The result was smog so thick that people could not find their own homes, automobile traffic ground to a halt, and people died in droves. The smog is now estimated to have killed some 12,000 people.

Rose Madrone was asked how she can make a difference and she had to think long and hard about it? Then she realized that she could show how one person's impact creates a chain reaction. So she started working on "Connectivity Project," a film on the ripple effect of our actions. Ironically, the 10-year effort to make the project was a ripple effect of its own. Everytime the project seemed dead, something happened to give it new life until the film was fully realized.  Madrone fell into the moviemaking business. He is currently Professor Emeritus at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto.  He has served as Director of the Epidemiology Unit of the National Cancer Institute of Canada, the Chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics at the University of Toronto, Senior Epidemiologist at the International Agency for Research on Cancer, and Head of the Division of Cancer Epidemiology at the German Cancer Research Centre, 2000-03; Dr. Miller is also a consultant to the Division of Cancer Prevention for the U.S. National Cancer Institute and for the World Health Organization.  He has published hundreds of studies on environmental health.

This episode is part 4 of a series where you will hear Theodora Scarato, executive director of the Environmental Health Trust, interview retired radiation health physicist Victor Leach.

Victor Leach has worked as a radiation health physicist and atmospheric scientist for the past 40 years. Soon afterwards, he was one of the founding members of Oceania Radiofrequency Scientific Advisory Association Inc. (ORSAA) in 2015 to present a balanced view when setting EMF standards. He has been a founding member of Australasian Radiation Protection Society (ARPS) since its inauguration in 1975, where he has been a past treasurer and is currently on the organising committee for conferences in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns and Darwin. 489 million 5G phones are expected to be rolled out in 2021. If the environmental hazards associated with their production, use, and disposal don't bother you, maybe the safety implications will. Phones are tested in an antiquated method using a large plastic bowling ball-sized head of a male dummy named Standard Anthropomorphic Mannequin (or SAM for short). SAM's head is nearly double the size of the head of a toddler and larger than 97 percent of all people. A big guy with a thick skull, SAM looks like military recruits from nearly a century ago. SAM is not representative of the public, yet SAM is the standard by which cell phone safety is tested. Typically, manufacturers select a single device among their product lines to test on SAM to ensure the syrupy liquid inside the dummy’s thick skull doesn't heat up.

Despite thousands of studies on non-thermal effects, national and international regulatory agencies, including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), still rely on thermal testing to measure the safety of cell phones. Not surprisingly, SAM is not very talkative — test calls average six minutes in duration. His behavior doesn't resemble the way the public uses cell phones today. We are Not SAM! This outdated and misleading “SAM” dummy for testing data on cell phones and other microwave radiating devices, including whatever equipment 5G may ultimately entail, is "fake news," and the world is waking up. Cell phones and wireless devices are not tested the way we use them — directly next to our bodies. Even if they were tested in body contact positions, current cell phone radiation limits do not protect us. We Are Not SAM is an organization aimed at educating consumers about the danger of wireless radiation. Co-creators Rinat Strahlhofer, a former telecommunications insider from New South Wales, Australia, and Tashi Lhamo, who was first exposed to the danger of the technology while studying the then-emerging industry during college, describes efforts by the telecommunications industry to hide the effects of cell phone radiation exposure — in part by using "decoys" like SAM. In this exclusive interview with EHT founder Devra Davis, the two describe how they came to understand the dangers of wireless radiation and how they are fighting to boycott the expansion of 5G, which isn't a replacement to 3G and 4G, but rather an addition to it that causes more and more radiation exposure to the public as well as to our flora and fauna. "When it comes to safety, we just assume that it's there, and we're using devices under the assumption that regulatory bodies are taking care of safety," Strahlhofer said. "Right now we're faced with a rigged test... At what point do we draw a line in the sand?"

"Protection Against Radiation is in Conflict with Science" by Dr. Franz Adlkofer, former Executive Director, VERUM Foundation for Behaviour and Environment. It is well known that findings in conflict with industrial policies require decades of research and discussion until they are finally accepted. One example is the area of cell phone radiation research. The assertion made in the 1950s that there are no effects of radio frequency electromagnetic fields besides the thermal ones, as such an assumption contradicts the laws of physics, is until today successfully defended by the cell phone industry on purely economic reasons. Soozie Eastman became a guinea pig so that you don't have to. The "Overload" director put herself through four rounds of blood tests and a 30-day detox to learn what happens when the body is cleaned of some of the thousands of chemicals that end up in it — from the first day of life!  Even as someone who was paying attention to what she put in her body, Eastman said she felt like she didn't have the information she needed to make some critical decisions before starting a family.   So she gave away a lot of her blood and spent $12,000 on lab diagnostics to test her levels for 419 of the most commonly used chemicals. Many of these chemicals are parabens and phthalates, the products that go into fragrances, plastics, and cosmetics. Then there are the toxins that end up in the environment around us, whether through manufacturing of carpets, wall paint, and pesticides.   Spanning a timeframe that included a pre-discovery period and a 30-day detox, and a post-detox follow-up, Eastman tested again and again. Not only did she learn that some toxins can quickly be cleaned from the body — and chemical levels can go up as toxins prepare to exit the body — but ​that consumers do have a little bit of control over their choices. Eastman found that a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel is not an oncoming train. Consumers can focus not just on their one-time cleanse but also on their consumer power and make informed decisions about what they bring into their homes, put on their bodies, and feed themselves and their families.  And the cherry on top: Living a greener life or a little bit leaner is not nearly as expensive as the consumer products industry would have you believe. In fact, alternatives to common household products are very similar in price.   Doctors say 80 percent of our illnesses are tied to environmental causes, which can be a very scary situation. "While documentaries are fascinating, they sometimes can leave many people feeling a little hopeless, overwhelmed, or frustrated about what to do. In this episode, you will hear testimony against cell towers from parents, health professionals, and more in the city of Thousand Oaks. Several citizens tell their stories which include heart irregularities and migraines caused by exposure to electromagnetic fields. One school teacher had to go on a 39-month disability leave after her school decided to upgrade their WiFi system, bring in hundreds of new chromebooks, and new smartboards. This technological upgrade led to several teachers becoming ill and having to leave their full-time jobs as educators. Neither parents nor staff were notified of the changes to the Wi-Fi network.

In this episode, Dr. Paul Heroux speaks at the Wireless Technology Forum in December, 2018.

Dr. Heroux is a Professor of Toxicology and Health Effects of Electromagnetism at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He is a scientist with extensive experience in engineering, health sciences, and physics.

In this conference, Dr. Heroux speaks about why we can expect such a wide array of diseases from exposure to electromagnetic radiation. He explains the wide variety of radiation exposure limits, biological effects of wireless radiation, and the mechanisms by which they occur.

In an historic decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit judged in favor of environmental health groups and petitioners on Aug. 13, 2021, finding the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) violated the Administrative Procedure Act and failed to respond to comments on environmental harm.

The court ruled that the decision by the FCC to retain its 1996 safety limits for human exposure to wireless radiation was “arbitrary and capricious.”  and held that the FCC failed to respond to “record evidence that exposure to RF radiation at levels below the Commission’s current limits may cause negative health effects unrelated to cancer.”   

Further, the agency demonstrated “a complete failure to respond to comments concerning environmental harm caused by RF radiation.” The court found the FCC ignored numerous organizations, scientists  and medical doctors who called on them to update limits and the court found the FCC failed to address these issues:

Human exposure guidelines for wireless radiation were last set in 1996.

Frank Clegg is the Former President of Microsoft Canada and is currently the founding CEO of Canadians for Safe Technology, a national, volunteer-based organization, whose mission is to educate Canadians and policy makers about the dangers of the exposure to unsafe levels of wireless radiation. He is also the co-chairman of the Business Advisory Group to the Environmental Health Trust.

Do you notice when you turn off the Wi-Fi that you fall asleep faster and sleep better? Do you ever have headaches or nausea when you cross under electric lines? Do you know someone who has severe reactions to electromagnetic radiation? EMFs are everywhere, including our work environments, hospitals, and public places. But people who suffer from electromagnetic sensitivity (ES) often suffer in silence. They are treated like complainers or hypochondriacs or worse. Sheena Symington, the director of the Electrosensitive Society in Canada, is a fierce advocate for those with acute reactions to electromagnetic radiation and has worked on this issue for years. The scientific evidence demonstrating acute effects from electromagnetic radiation exposure is documented. Important first steps for recovery are to create a low EMF environment and to find medical practitioners familiar with treating and accommodating ES. Silent sufferers need to know they aren’t alone and they aren’t crazy. In fact, Peterborough, Canada, is one municipality that is informing its community about the dangers. It has provided information to help organizations accommodate individuals who have electromagnetic sensitivity. It recommends – among other things: To temporarily disable city-owned WAP devices. To turn off or minimize fluorescent and LED. To notify attendees to set mobile phones to airplane mode. At this Patreon event, Symington described how she got involved, the key issues facing those who suffer, and what can be done to help them, including finding and creating low EMF zones where they can comfortably live, work and better enjoy life. Symington, who helps people who are Electro Hypersensitive (EHS), has been researching chemical and electromagnetic pollutants and their effects on natural and human ecosystems for many years. A Research Associate with Professor Emeritus Dr. Magda Havas (theroselab.com) she offers advice on electromagnetic hygiene and shares what more can be done in the public health arena to educate people on maintaining an electromagnetically clean environment.

Cell phones are a ubiquitous part of our lives. But, several new, independent studies confirm previous findings that pulsed digital signals from cell phones disrupt DNA, impair brain function and damage sperm.

Fetuses, children and teens are particularly vulnerable such that the American Academy of Pediatrics sent a letter to Federal Communications Commission asking for a review of the exposure limits.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) recently issued a Report calling for an update of cell phone exposure limits. The GAO recommended, "FCC should formally reassess and, if appropriate, change its current RF energy exposure limit and mobile phone testing requirements related to likely usage configurations." and FCC stated on page 40 of the GAO Report "...the Commission's staff ... arrived at the same conclusion [and the] document is ... under consideration by the Commission ...".
