27 Sep 2023Nicola Kemp: The Lost Art of Listening as a Leader00:45:12

In this episode of the podcast, I speak with Nicola Kemp, Editorial Director at Creativebrief.

Join us as we discuss the power of truly listening. Listening has become a lost art and it is incredibly important when it comes to creating a positive and creative culture in the workplace. We have to get comfortable with ambiguity and get intentional about listening to the people around us.

Key takeaways include:

  • We have got to stop squeezing mid-life women out of the workplace, we are losing so much innovation
  • Let’s change how we view TIME
  • Nobody's life is in a fixed state. At every life stage we have new challenges and opportunities and we need to allow for this flexibility and understanding in the workplace

Nicola is Editorial Director at Creativebrief and co-founder of the social learning practice Good Shout. She is passionate about changing the narrative and experience for women in the creative industries and she won The Women in Marketing Journalist of the year award for her work championing diversity in the creative industries.

Key takeaways include:

● The risk of setting your standards too high
● Identifying control patterns
● Seeking external validation to feel worthy
● Experimenting with imperfection and my personal story of doing this

Key takeaways include:

● Understanding your internal world in order to self-lead
● How to identify the different parts of you
● Tips for managing your own internal board of directors
