14 Nov 2023 | The Marvels review | 00:32:44
This week, the boys return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the second film in Phase 5, to determine whether the rumours of the MCU's demise have been greatly exaggerated.
But in a film featuring some out of left field scenes and one of the worst villains the MCU has ever trotted out, can the rest of The Marvels rise about its impediments to produce something memorable? Or does it continue the downward spiral of the MCU?
Not surprisingly, there's a major difference of opinion, but who falls on what side of that divide ... as The Countdown continues ...

19 Jan 2024 | The Top 10 Films of 2023 | 01:53:36
Countdown #457
Here it is. The biggest Ep of the year detailing the very best films of the previous year requires an incredible guest. And that incredible guest is Jason from the Binge Movies Podcast. It also requires a lengthy discussion about the merits (or perhaps, lack thereof) of these films, making for one of the longest Eps in The Countdown's history.
(Julio would be proud; Gerald, less so.)
Get on board, then, for this in-depth discussion of the best releases to hit cinemas across the year that was 2023. Enjoy the surprising comedies, the frightening horrors, the well-acted dramas and the shocking superhero films that make this most coveted of lists.
And as if that's not enough, enjoy Wayne as he somehow underlines the major message from one of the biggest releases of the year - a moment that threatens to completely break this Episode in two ...
... as The Countdown (hopefully) continues ...
Please thank Jason by checking out Binge Movies or, heck, head on over to The Slashers podcast where both Jason, Paul and Megan from Spoilerpiece Theatre, join forces to create a show all about the golden age of the Slasher film.

26 May 2023 | The Top 8 Films of the Last 8 Years | 00:54:47
Countdown #425
All good things must come to an end, and so it is with eating all the a$$es.
The month long celebration of eight years of The Countdown podcast - affectionately known as the 8 All the A$$e$ month - draws to a close with Paul and Wayne running through the Top 8 Films of the Last 8 Years.
There is some agreement, much swearing, occasional shock, and more than a smattering of incredulity. There's also plenty of The Soundboard. But most of all, there's laughter as all of the a$$es are eaten for one last time ...
... until the show resumes with a range of different Countdowns, of course ...
So, yes, as the Countdown continues ...

01 Aug 2023 | Oppenheimer review | 00:25:05
The boys have "Barbied" and now it's time to "'Heimer" as the boys check out Christopher Nolan's latest blockbuster, Oppenheimer. The whole world is frothing at the mouth for what Nolan and his incredibly talented cast and crew have achieved with this film. But will Wayne and Paul share such positive sentiments? 31 May 2024 | The Countdown Vs The Contrarians - Top 10 Memorable Moviegoing Experiences | 01:27:00
Countdown #475
It's been a long time coming, but the Show v Show format returns this week as Paul and Wayne welcome Julio and Alex from The Contrarians podcast to do battle re a Top 10 topic. And that topic as nominated by The Contrarians is the Top 10 Memorable Moviegoing Experiences.
As you can imagine, not everything memorable is positive. Nor is it always PG. So strap yourselves in for some outlandish stories involving everything from anger in the cinema to, well, unexpected most pleasure (make of that what you will).
Whatever the reaction, this monster episode will be sure to remind you of some of your memorable experiences at the cinema/theatre, as The Countdown continues ...

10 Mar 2023 | Top 10 Conspiracy Theories | 01:10:03
Countdown #414
This week the boys tackle their favourite (read: most out there) conspiracy theories ... never realising they might be the centre of one of the biggest conspiracy theories in Podcast Land.
But which one is it?
a) Wayne does not really exist and is a figment of Paul's imagination? b) Wayne meeting a brief and not IN ANY WAY screwing it up is considered the eighth sign of the end of the world? or c) That the student film Paul and Wayne made 25 years ago, Reap, is so amazing, all copies had to be destroyed lest cinema be ruined for the masses forever more?
Find out which one it is as The Countdown continues ...

The reborn juggernaut that is the Scream franchise steams back into theatres this weekend, showing no signs of slowing down, and in fact, the early reviews are generally very favourable. 05 May 2023 | The Worst 8 TV Shows of the Last 8 Years | 01:13:19
Countdown #422 The first part of the show's four-part series celebrating 8 years of The Countdown is here! Having been given the sub-title of 8 All the A$$es$ month (with thanks to Sam Hurley from the Movie Reviews in 20 Q's Podcast), the series begins with the boys taking aim at the worst 8 television shows of the last 8 years. Now you might think that after 8 years, these two fools would have worked out how to specify a brief, but you would be wrong! As Paul has decided to interpret the brief one way and Wayne - much to his outrage and consternation - in another. In other words, it's Bizarro World throughout this Ep, but it at least maintains the usual crass, over the top humour and hot, hot takes that you've come to expect from the show. It's time to return to a fan favourite format - the Top 10 Last 10! - as the boys review ten of their most recent viewings from worst to best, with nothing else linking the films other than the fact they were recently seen.
Of course this means more of the guys reviewing their favourite genres, so prepare for horror aplenty from Paul, while Wayne is all aboard the Rom-Com train. But who has the list that, for once, they're quite happy with? And who is left ruing their life choices?

18 Apr 2023 | The Super Movie Bros. Movie review | 00:24:22
500 million dollars later, Wayne and Paul decide they better see what all the fuss is about and head to the cinemas to catch the latest triumphant video game adaptation, The Super Movie Bros. Movie. Amazingly, the song "When Will I Be Famous" is not used once in this 90 minute animated adventure, but a bunch of other crappy needle drops are, and Wayne, at least, is all about them. But does he like, well, ANYthing else about this film? And how many times has Paul defended a non-horror against Wayne's version of Negatron? Learn the answers to these questions, as well as well as weigh in on the controversy about a nihilistically depressed character in a film for kids, as The Countdown continues ... Countdown #473
In this follow up to Episode 471, the lads get to their best ever travel experiences.
Of course, in this ying to the other episode's yang, there is plenty of inappropriate humour, and way too many references to Wayne spanking the monkey. But if you're in the mood for some laughs amid ideas on where you should travel to in the world and what you should do once you're there, look no further ...

11 Aug 2023 | Top 10 Funniest Jokes | 00:37:49
Countdown #436 The concept episode. Beloved by creators; dreaded by fans. The moment when a TV show decides to do something experimental and not at all in keeping with the norm. It's chance for all those involved with a show to stretch their wings, and maybe set up some back door options for spin-offs. In a podcast's case, a concept episode usually means the hosts need a break from the norm or want to shake things up a bit. And like the TV shows we would often lament as wasting an episode on these crazy ideas, the podcast concept episode doesn't always work. With all that in mind, welcome to the Top 10 Funniest Jokes episode of The Countdown! It's short, it's very much not sweet, and it contains some serious dad jokes as well as some objectionable humour. It also features a heap of submissions from the listeners, so it's not all Wayne and Paul's fault. Oh, who are we kidding? It's Wayne's fault. 02 May 2023 | The Mandalorian Season 3 review | 00:33:11
The one successful Star Wars series has finished it's third season on the Disney+ streaming service, so of course, it's time for Wayne and Paul to assess what Jon Favreau and the House of the Mouse have brought us ...
Wayne is the unapologetic Star Wars fan, so he has many thoughts on this thirs season following Din Djarin and Grogu, primary among them: Just how much interest from the ladies will admitting his fandom lose him? Paul, meanwhile, is trying to get his head around some of the complete filler episodes that have been trotted out here, but will they affect his overall view of the season?

January is here and with it, the films that studios like to dump into theatres, hoping against hope that they might make some dollars. 04 Aug 2023 | Top 10 Sci-Fi Films of the 21st Century | 00:58:55
Countdown #435
This week the boys are commencing a new series of episodes that will bob up every few weeks for the rest of 2023, celebrating the best films of particular genres through the 21st Century. And to kick things off, they're going with a genre near and dear to Paul's heart: Sci-Fi! Given recent weeks, it might be very surprising to learn that not only did Wayne meet this week's brief admirably, but that the co-hosts are generally very agreeable and happy with each other in discussing each other's films. Does that mean some of the "magic" is gone from this episode, or is a less argy-bargy listen exactly what people like (from time to time)? Listen and let the guys know, as The Countdown continues ...

23 May 2023 | Fast X review | 00:27:52
FAMILY. Vin Diesel is FAMILY. And he is also the equal of J. R. R. Tolkien (at least in his own mind). But we can't bad-mouth FAMILY, so just roll with it. Like the cars do in this - and all the previous entries in this franchise - they roll, literally, and keep on driving. Because that's what you do when FAMILY is on the line. How do we know this? Well, because Vin Diesel says it is so. And like Kanye West, he's FAMILY. So what FAMILY says, goes. Who can argue against that? Not Wayne and Paul. Because they would never argue with FAMILY. Find out whether this latest installment is worth your FAMILY'S time, as The Countdown continues ... Countdown #419
It's Top 10 Last 10 time, and in case you weren't aware, the theater experience is back! So the boys are celebrating by reviewing a bunch of films they've recently watched (in Wayne's case that means he saw them within the last week) and have yet to speak about on the show. Everything from low budget horror to Academy Award nominees get a look in this week, as Wayne again laments his life choices (when it comes to film), and Paul is more than pleasantly surprised by some of what he watched. Countdown #418
If the Top 10 conspiracy theories weren't enough for you a few weeks back, Paul and Wayne go back to that off-kilter well to deliver you some very disturbing true mysteries of the kind that have yet to be solved.
From dark matter to severed feet and by way of far too many disappeared or murdered people, this week the boys are covering their favourite unexplained mysteries.
If that sounds too dark for you, fear not. The Soundboard is on hand to incense Wayne, Paul is prattling on about a TV show concerning cities of gold, and just how many listeners will reference the mythical film Reap in the Pop 10 segment?

17 Jan 2023 | M3gan review | 00:24:52
2023 arrives with all the fanfare of a wet fart as far as cinematic releases are concerned, but Paul and Wayne are never ones to give up. So when it comes to the latest internet-memed horror film, even Wayne takes his licks in order to deliver content for the show. Or, if you prefer, the show reviews a film which neither host were holding their breath over ... Will Wayne hate on M3gan like a traditional horror film? Or will he respond to what's on display and grant a rare positive grade for this killer doll film? And is Paul disappointed that it's not R-rated? Find out as The Countdown continues ... 05 Jul 2024 | Top 10 Co-Stars Who Stole The Film | 01:02:26
Countdown #479
This week the lads are all about those performers who are second-billed or lower and how they sometimes shine just a little more than the person with their name on top of the poster. In other words, this countdown is all about co-stars who stole the film (or, if you're Wayne, show).
With little to no agreement on the parameters of what constitutes a co-star, this one is primed to be an old-fashioned banter-fest. Or have the boys matured somewhat as the podcast winds down toward Episode 500?

Countdown #432
The incredibly awesome and efficient Stew from the Stew World Podcast joins the boys this week to talk a topic so quintessentially Countdown that it's a surprise it doesn't get re-done every 20 episodes or so: The Top 10 Action Comedies. Stew brings his A-game, while Paul battles tirelessly to suggest adventure films qualify as action-comedies. Wayne, meanwhile, is completely off in his own world banging on about Betamax (for example), so it should come as no surprise that his list is ludicrously all over the place and features less action than your typical walk to the local twerking behind shop. Has Wayne finally jumped the shark? Will Stew regret his decision to return to The Countdown? Won't someone else stand up for the Last Crusade alongside Paul? And who drops the most controversial joke this week? (Hint: It's actually not Wayne.)Learn the answers to all these questions and more, as The Countdown continues ...

04 Apr 2023 | Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves review | 00:31:05
Hollywood circles around to the fantasy adventure film, this time dressing it up up as a D&D film set in the Forgotten Realms fantasy world. Paul knows all about this as he used to play D&D back in the day. Wayne claims he played it only twice - even if it was a lot more than that - and remembers little to nothing about such adventures. So who is going to enjoy this film and who is going to be middling to okay with it? And just how high is Chris Pine's charisma score? So the DCEU ends ... like THIS? Join Wayne and Paul as they query why DC and the WB would bother with a final DCEU film that takes zero chances, is completely rote and horrendously predictable, and contains more Mamoa "Ya-HOO!"s than could possibly be considered safe for human hearing. 11 Jun 2024 | Bad Boys: Ride or Die review | 00:26:35
In a film which comes uncomfortably close to mirroring the flagging staying power of The Countdown itself, the boys are this week reviewing Will Slap Smith and Martin Lawrence as they Ride or Die in the fourth Bad Boys film.
Wayne is surprisingly down on the film at review's beginning, while perhaps shockingly, Paul seems ready to defend what might fairly be described as a dumb action film. But will they occupy the same position by review's end? And can Wayne, for once, be prepared with his score for a film?

It's Ry-Ry! It's Emily! It's a film based on a TV show from the early 80s! And it's Wayne's most anticipated film of the year! What could possibly go wrong?
Well, for one, the boys incorrectly suggest Heather Locklear starred in that show when it was Heather Thomas, and for two, Wayne has apparently forgotten how to critically review something when he has (odd) affection for it.

01 Dec 2023 | MCU Phase 4 Ranked! | 01:10:11
Countdown #450
It's the 450th Countdown this week, and the boys are celebrating by taking aim at Marvel's Phase 4 and ranking all the films and television shows from it. Or at least Paul is. Wayne continues to defend most forms of mediocrity. Though at least some of that may be attributable to him being late low with an illness in the week leading up to this recording. Which means the guys aren't in the same room, and worse, no Soundboard for such an important occasion *cue anguish the world over* But that won't stop the guys from doing their level best to disagree, banter and entertain - something they've been striving to do for night on nine years now. The fifth and final Indiana Jones film is here with Harrison Ford recently decreeing: "When I go, so does Indy." Of course Paul and Wayne were beyond keen to see Harrison don the Fedora and crack the bull whip while growling at everyone who should care that 'It belongs in a museum!", but does that mean the film is any good? Countdown #443
The popular Top 10 Last 10 format finally returns - since Wayne has, with pain-staking effort, gotten around to watching 10 extra films not previously covered on the show.
As always, the boys rank these ten films from worst to best, letting you know when they cross the line from avoid like the plague to recommended. Thrillers, comedies, horrors, wide-releases and smaller straight to video fare are all covered in this one, and there's at least one title the boys wildly disagree about. So plug in those headphones, settle down with a glass of your favourite, and get ready for almost 20 mini-film reviews as The Countdown continues ...

12 Dec 2023 | Leave the World Behind review | 00:23:11
It's December and the releases to theatre has slowed up (a least for a week), so Paul and Wayne have turned to Netflix for new content, and were pleased to find the hardly advertised "Leave the World Behind" waiting to be reviewed.
Julia Roberts joins the suavest actor there is , Mahershala Ali, and Ethan Hawke, to bring this apocalyptic thriller helmed by the Mr Robot guy and based on some very short novel no-one had ever heard of before, to your couches as organised by the stellar people at Netlfix.
Will this one make more or less of an impact than Don't Look Up? Find out as The Countdown continues ....

Join the lads as they countdown the top 10 Spy Films of all time, updating their lists from that long ago day when The Countdown was little more than a glint in Paul's eye.
How will things have changed? Will there be any films from the last 9 years added to the list? And does Matthew Vaughn get a look in with his brand new blockbuster, Argylle?

16 Jul 2024 | Twisters review | 00:26:37
Remember that natural disaster film from the mid-90s that had a flying cow? Well, Universal Pictures, Warner Brothers and Amblin Entertainment are hoping you recall only enough to want to see another film about a bevy of twisters laying waste to Oklahoma while people chase the things across many, many flat rolling plains, because this film literally has nothing else to do with the original.
But does watching forces of nature wreak havoc while a bunch of people chase them around for various reasons a good film make? That's what Wayne and Paul are here to tell you, since for some odd reason, this very American film complete with more country music than even a diehard fan would care to hear has released internationally first.
Find out if this one is worth your time as The Countdown continues ...

08 Dec 2023 | Top 10 Films That Would Not Get Made Today | 00:55:05
Countdown #451 Is this the episode that ends the show? That's what regular listeners might be asking as Paul flies very close to the sun by letting Wayne off the podcast leash to discuss the Top 10 Films That Would Not Get Made Today! Truly, this one is worth listening to just to hear Wayne's description of his Number 7 - a film which Paul simply cannot believe exists (even if it was made back in the '50s). And beyond that, there's plenty of the usual banter, questionable jokes, and cameos from The Soundboard to prove the boys are back in the same room and all is again fine in the world.

19 Dec 2023 | Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget review | 00:17:48
Do you remember that film about a bunch of stop motion chickens pulling off a Great Escape-ish escape from the chicken farm where they'll all eventually become dinner? Well, Netflix certainly does, and they've invested in bringing the sequel to your television screens some 23 years later. Paul and Wayne have checked it out and at least one of them is not chicken in voicing their disdain for the film. In fact, the Negatron theme gets trotted out amid many swipes at animated children's film in general, though all should be relieved to know there is not one reference to breasts - chicken or otherwise - in this review. Who will be the hard to please reviewer and who will attempt to defend the chickens as they Mission Impossible their way into our hearts? Find out as The Coundown continues ... 16 Aug 2024 | Top 10 Robert Downey Jr Performances | 00:55:18
Countdown #485
Wayne loves the guy and he's the flavour of the month as the messiah Marvel promised, so the boys decide to count down the very best performances from one Robert Downey Jr.
It takes about seventeen seconds for Wayne to debate the nature of this list, and only about five minutes more for Paul to reveal he's a bit down on the Downey and doesn't actually rate that many of his movies.
Can Wayne cope with this revelation? Who won't have the film that won him an Academy Award on their list? And is this the last performance-related count down the show will ever do?

09 Jun 2023 | Top 10 Rock Songs of the 90s | 01:00:22
Countdown #427
Paul and Wayne are getting up there in years on this earth, so they don't mind admitting that the '90s was their heyday for most things - including, in Wayne's case, his hair. So it is that there's a special kind of excitement that comes along with a 90s themed countdown, as the boys get to relive aspects of their youth and take the p1ss out of each other in the ways they did some thirty years previously. This week's topic, then, is one which is a little close to Paul's heart, as the boys list their Top 10 Rock Songs of the 90s. Not surprisingly, two completely different lists are produced, but there's a special link between the two number ones which no-one could have ever seen coming :D Find out just what that is as The Countdown continues ...

A bear on coke, random characters and Elizabeth Banks directing: What could go wrong? Well, plenty if you believe some of the reviews, but then there are others who are loving the silly vibe of this $30 million dollar film. So who can you trust to give an honest review? Well, Wayne and Paul, of course! Can a bear alone in the woods snorting cocaine hurt people? Or does it just go about its business without a care in the world? 16 Jan 2024 | Godzilla Minus One review | 00:29:56
The boys finally get along to see a film which has been hitting all the Top 10 lists of 2023, just in time for their own episode of the same. But is this the shot in the arm Kaiju films needed? Or is it more of the same ol' , same ol' when it comes to Godzilla and its decision to chow down on most anything Tokyo-shaped? One of the lads has this as the greatest thing since sliced-bread, while the other is a little more luke-warm. Meanwhile, this Episode took about 73 false starts to get going, as you will hear if you hang around to the end of the recording ... Who is right? Who is wrong? Paul and Wayne expose their deepest and most shamefully embarrassing stories for the whole world to hear, figuring no-one will listen to this episode. 06 Feb 2024 | Bonus Ep: Terrifier and Mama Mia! reviews | 00:24:25
Way back in May of 2023, many of our fine Patrons tuned in to watch or listen to our climatic guest spot on the Livestream for the Cure, as hosted by Nick, Dan and Gerald. During that spot, to raise money for the fight against cancer, we pledged to watch horrendous films that you chose for us. And being the wonderfully, generous people you are, you supported the cause.
Those films that we pledged to view were in Wayne's case, Terrifier (2016), and in Paul's, Mama Mia! (2008). This is where we honour that pledge and you get to hear us suffer in the name of charity!
Thank you for your support that day, and now enjoy the fruits of that support while Paul is (hopefully) skiing down some Japanese mountains.

12 Jul 2024 | Top 10 Mainland European Films | 01:04:33
Countdown #480
Why celebrate one country's finest films when you can combine a whole bunch of them and talk the best films out of a particular continent? That's Wayne's thinking, at least. Or is it that he just hasn't seen enough films from Europe (outside of the UK)?
Find out this week on the Countdown as Wayne goes "Scandi"-crazy, while Paul cannot believe his ears at some of his co-host's choices. Which seems more than fair until he suggests a film about mutating spiders attacking an apartment block is better than most everything else out of Europe.

Massively big sharks are back in the latest big budget sequel to splash across our cinemas screens. But is Meg 2: The Trench worth venturing out to the cinema for? Does it contain all the fun that you hope for in a killer shark film? Or is it another wet fart of a sequel that has no business making it to screen in this format? Let's put it this way. 28 Apr 2023 | Top 10 Movie Insults | 00:46:46
Countdown #421
You know how this is the nicest, most easy-going podcast where two friends get along all the time and there's nary a bad word said between them? If you answered "yes", you're lying to humour this description, so thank you for the effort, but there's really no need. Paul and Wayne know their show is built on hurling insults at each other, so it should come as no surprise that when Top Level Patron to the show, David Powell, said do the Top 10 Movie Insults, the lads needed little convincing. What follows is much like Wayne's genitalia - short in length, but big on laughs - as the boys perform their favourite movie insults for (or is that at?) each other. Paul may even call upon the Soundboard in an even more integrally important way than its regular critical role, much to Wayne's annoyance. So tune in to find out how badly Wayne loses it, as The Countdown continues ...

20 Aug 2024 | Alien: Romulus review | 00:32:23
It's been a lean 38 years if you're an Alien film franchise fan. From the disappointment of Alien 3 to the bamboozling direction Ridley Scott chose with the last two films, it's fair to say no old-school fan has been especially happy. So the question becomes, can Fede Alvarez do what many others before him could not and deliver a genuinely good Alien sequel?
Paul and Wayne certainly hope so, and they were front and centre very early in this film's release to bring you their view on whether this is the beginning of a new dawn for the Alien franchise or if it is just more of the same hope-sucking drivel?

But by the 45 min mark of the worst stories, it becomes wildly apparent the episode is going to be well over two hours. So because no-one has time to listen to these two fools prattle on for that long inside one week (and also because Paul doesn't have time to edit that down from the 2.5 hour raw recording), the episode is halved and the guys talk just their five WORST travel experiences.

27 Oct 2023 | Top 10 Goriest Film Scenes | 01:06:45
Countdown #445 It's Halloween, so it's time for The Countdown to bring the horror! Against all the odds, Paul has somehow convinced Wayne to get coated in (figurative) blood and countdown the top 10 goriest film scenes of all time! As regular listeners might imagine, Wayne takes to this challenge like a cat to water, moaning and complaining the whole time, while regularly reminding Paul and other horror fans like him how messed up they are. Of course, Paul delights in calling out Wayne as a precious snowflake and rags on his choices, meaning the stage is set for a classic episode of the show. But, please, be WARNED: Some of the descriptions in this Ep are extremely R-rated and listeners of a sensitive disposition might be too grossed out to continue listening.

03 Sep 2024 | Afraid of The Rings of Power S2 reviews | 00:19:52
It's September and while prestige TV may still be dropping things of interest, the blockbuster season at the theatre is certainly over, as evidenced by Paul scraping the bottom of the cinematic release barrel to review Afraid for you. It's Blumhouse and horror (supposedly) so Wayne was going nowhere near it - which turns out to be a very smart decision - instead opting to focus his attention on the beginning of the second season of Prime's The Rings of Power (a less smart call).
Should you be heading to the cinemas or settling into the couch to watch TV this week? Hell, maybe getting out and going for a walk while listening to this episode is your best bet ... as The Countdown continues ...

03 May 2024 | Top 10 Food in Film Scenes (with Chef Ben Randall) | 01:12:19
Countdown #472
Long time Patreon supporter and bona fide Chef, Ben Randall, joins The Countdown this week to lend some class and legitimacy to a topic he came up with - the Top 10 Food on Film Scenes.
Now, full disclosure, Ben forgot he suggested Top 10 Food in Film OR TV Scenes, but so did Wayne, so Paul is left high and dry with one television scene, while the other two are chowing down on films exclusively.
How many of the choices will feature gross out moments with food? Does anyone get to third base with a pie? And just how does the mind of a Chef work?

This episode could very well be sub-titled 'Old Men Shake Fists at Clouds/Sky/The World' or 'The Ep That Will Probably Kill The Show'. Because Paul and Wayne have decided to call out the pop culture trends which they think are most over-rated ... and absolutely NOTHING is safe. From body modification procedures to some of the biggest social media platforms - and with plenty of massive fan bases in between - the boys laugh and/or rage at something which is sure to offend just about everyone who has ever listened to the show. The nostalgia is back as the Ghostbusters return to the cinema for the third time in the life of The Countdown, and Wayne, at least, is all kinds of excited.
Can a film based so heavily on nostalgia for a time long forgotten succeed? Will audiences care about streams crossing the OG Ghostbusters with the new Spengler clan? And will Wayne become this franchise's most unlikely champion?

01 Mar 2024 | Top 10 Tom Cruise Films REDUX | 00:52:30
Countdown #463
Way back in Episode 19* of the show - sometime during the winter months of 2015 - the boys did their first ever countdown focused on an a single actor. That actor has affectionately become known as T to the C among the Countdown Listener Community, but is otherwise referred to as one Tom Cruise. It felt only natural then that if there was any actor that the show would re-do a countdown on, it had to be T to the C, that Hollywood A-Lister who can champion Scientology and jump on as many Oprah couches as he wants, as long as he continues making quality films. So join Wayne in that heady place known as Man-Crush Land, as The Countdown continues ... *Not Episode 4 as Paul suggests during the recording. Ignore his blather!

05 Jan 2024 | Top 10 Television Shows of 2023 | 01:12:09
Countdown #455
The boys, this week, complete their look back at television through 2023 with a countdown of their favourite shows of the year! It was a banner year for television as evidenced by both Paul and Wayne having ten shows and honourable mentions to talk about, making for a jam packed episode.
Wayne starts things off controversially and some might suggest his list never recovers, while Paul, meanwhile, stays pretty true to form - both in terms of his list and in keeping Wayne honest with some of his hot takes.
In other words, it's what you've come to expect from the podcast, but with plenty of TV to keep you occupied through the early stages of 2024.

Countdown #415
Every once in a while, we all like to slip into our most comfortable clothing and just chill out doing the things we love. That might be listening to some old favourite playlists, or re-watching Scrubs for the 18th time. Or it might be going back to the podcast-well to talk about a bunch of great films! So it is this week as Wayne and Paul countdown the very best film franchises of all time! Wayne is certainly going mainstream with his choices, while Paul is a bit more left field with his choices. Can Wayne successfully defend some massive franchises that have numerous turds to go against their successes? Will Paul convince anyone that three horror film franchises should make this list? Countdown #430
This week the boys are counting down ten of the most recent films they've seen, from worst to best, as their latest Top 10 Last 10. For once, Paul has made some poor decisions regarding what to press play on, while Wayne talks up having made similar bad calls, but it is soon revealed he is telling a porky pie as he seems to enjoy almost all of his films - which, at least in the case of Ghosted, is a HECK of a call. Will every film on Wayne's list generate two to three laughs? Can Paul not have a horror film in his top five? The answers may shock you! 22 Dec 2023 | Top 10 Last 10: Goodbye 2023 Edition | 01:14:57
Countdown #453
It's Top 10 Last 10 time, as the boys look back on the latter parts of 2023 and mini-review 10 films each that are first time watches, but otherwise have no linking criterion. Of course, this is The Countdown, so:
- said films are ranked from worst to best
- Wayne says inappropriate things
- Paul Soundboards it up in response to said inappropriate things, while honouring the late, great Andre Braugher; and
- there is more French musketeer action than you can poke a sword at. (To be fair this one is not a usual staple of the show, but worth pointing out nonetheless.)

Zack Snyder returns to our screens with his rejected idea for Star Wars courtesy of Netflix. And since Zach Snyder is always going to Zach Snyder, Wayne and Paul have volunteered to determine whether this is one of the occasions when Zach should have Snydered, rather than Zaching his way into some very, very low critical reactions.
Will Wayne appreciate the visual flair in Rebel Moon? Can Paul forgive the short-comings of its script? And, at the end of the day, is Disney - in the place of George Lucas - going to sue themselves a Zach?

John Woo explodes back into the cinemas of the western world with Silent Night - a revenge action thriller which, somehow, neither Paul nor Wayne realised was dialogue-less until some 20 minutes into the movie. Being big fans of the Woo and with a kick-ass and bloodthirsty trailer, the boys were all kinds of excited about an action Christmas movie following in the foot-steps of Die Hard and last year's Violent Night. Learn the answers to these questions and more, as The Countdown continues ... Time Stamps: Silent Night NON-SPOILER Review: 0:00 - 10:04 Silent Night SPOILER-FILLED Discussion: 10:04 - 22:09 Final Thoughts Including Potential Spoilers: 22:09 - 23:38

In this one, Detective Aaron Falk returns to help with a disappearance of someone he has a connection with, while an event from his past will help him solve the case. It's better than that synopsis sounds, but does it hold a candle to the original? Find out before its official release date on Feb 8th, as The Countdown continues ...
