Similar to a Passive House, R-2000 is another building standard that you can plan to achieve when building your home. It can be overwhelming to learn about all these different building standards. The important thing, for you, is to know which one of these measures suits your needs. As a contractor, we can work with you to determine which way to proceed. Before that, though, think about what you want to get from your future home. Is it comfort? Is it performance? For the visual folk out there, here is a picture version of all the standards. Passive House would be at around the same level as Net Zero Ready.

MazumaGo began as a payment service for small businesses, but speaking with business owners in the construction industry made Matthew Smith and his Co-Founder realize which industry needed it the most! Regardless of size, most construction businesses were still using checks to send and receive payments, resulting in long payment delays and cash flow issues along the construction supply chain. Their team kept asking, “Why is it so hard for contractors to send large payments online?” and decided to focus exclusively on digitizing construction payments. It is their mission to enable all construction companies to move money instantly and freely, without the barriers of traditional banking.

21 Feb 2017 | #9 - Do I Need Plans To Renovate My Home? | 00:05:02
Do I need plans to renovate my home? This is technically possible but it is not recommended. In a case of a small job, ie. flooring replacement, you might not need a set of plans. Even in this case, the communication between you and your contractor must still be at a high level. See the video about expectations. The set of blueprints/plans will give your contractor the ability to price the job accurately. If you do not have a set of plans, the price of the project is arbitrary and the chance of it changing in the process is very high.

24 Nov 2020 | #124 - Replay from the Construction Genius Podcast with Eric Anderton | 00:33:52
The buildings and infrastructure you see all around you started with a single thought. That thought was communicated to people who then built with skill and hard work. Without that thought, nothing would be created. Just like how those buildings started with a thought, your thoughts and your mindset also play a critical role when it comes to the success of your business. Your thoughts dictate your actions and behaviour. Without having control over your mindset, you can make poor decisions in critical situations that will affect you, your clients and even how your employees perceive you as their leader. What can you do to gain greater control? That’s what we’re here to find out in this Construction Genius episode as Casey Grey, founder of The Conscious Builder, shares with us how your mindset can make a difference to the way you manage your employees and your clients. 02 Nov 2017 | #16 - What is a Passive House? | 00:05:46
What is a Passive House? We have been talking about the Passive House concept for a while now, yet the majority of people don't know what a Passive House means. Let me give you an example: You are probably aware of the term "Passive Income". You know that it is the type of income that you generate while doing little or no work. This income requires some work at the beginning (set up) and minimal maintenance. Subsequently, you get to focus on other life activities while the money rolls in. Well, the Passive House concept is similar to that. You get to build a home that works for you and not against you. Watch the video or listen to the Podcast to understand more about how it works.
