There are four layers that make up every organization (that is, a group of people gathered together in a structured manner for a specific purpose):

The work of organizational development is fundamentally about discerning where the pressure points are (given these 4 layers) and then partnering with organizational leaders to make needed shifts. Group training, individual coaching, and leadership team development are simply different means to work toward this same end (and therefore should reflect the same philosophy). Lee Riley uses his coaching skills to help organizations develop their culture and leadership. He recently joined the University of Washington part-time as a training and organizational development consultant. You can reach Lee at leeriley.com or Lee@LeeRiley.com | |||

Chad and Brian talk about their favorite assessment, the Core Values Index (CVI). The CVI is designed to help a person know how best they contribute. It was originally designed to help companies and organizations hire people who were a great fit for a particular role, what they call “A Players.” They found that beneath having the skills and the experience needed to do well in a job, that what really drives success is the extent to which the role allows a person to express their unique combination of core values. The CVI has two modes: free and complete. The free version will tell you what your two primary core values are, for example: Builder/Innovator. The complete will tell you the scores for each of the four values. Each of the four has a score between 1 and 36. You can take the assessment at coachapproachministries.org/assessment
