If you don't love fitness, or you can't prioritize it, here's what to do:

  1. Be Honest - Stop lying to yourself and saying you'll make it a priority. If it's not in the cards right now, it's not in the cards. And if you hate it, just do the bare minimum to be a healthy person! 
  2. Adopt MED - Minimum Effective Dose - What is the minimum amount of effort you can get away with for the desired outcome? (Optimal Health and Longevity)

My Minimum Effective Dose Recommendations:

Workout Time Per Week = Hours (or less) per week. Total! 

Time Per Workout = 20-30 Minutes.

That's it... Seriously! Before I continue, there are 168 hours in a single week. 

Subtract 8 hours of sleep per night, you’re left with 112 hours each week.

If you work 40 hours per week, you’re then left with 72 hours…

I’m asking for 2 of them.

Let’s be realistic here. I’m a busy guy. But even I am not so busy that I can’t give up 2 of 72 hours!! 

What To Do Each Week:

2x per week = Hip hinge movement

  • Examples: Squat, Deadlift, Kettlebell Swings

1x per week = Pulling Movement

  • Examples: Weighted Chin-Ups, Body Weight Chin-Ups, or negatives and holds, if you can’t do chin-ups yet.

1x per week = Pushing Movement

  • Example: Push-Ups. All you need is body weight.

2x Per Week = Yoga/ Mobility - These two yoga sessions should feel like a workout! You should get a good little sweat going! 

The beauty of this is you can combine the hip hinge movements with the pull and push movements! 

Example Week:

Monday = Squats and Chin-Ups (20 minutes)

Tuesday = Rest or take a walk outdoors

Wednesday = Yoga Flow (20-30 minutes)

Thursday = Squats and Pull-Ups (20 minutes)

Friday = Rest or take a walk outdoors

Saturday = Yoga Flow

Sunday = Rest or take a walk outdoors

That's really all you need to be a happy, healthy, mobile human being!!

Will this help you win the CrossFit Games?! Of course not! But who cares?!

I'm just trying to help average, everyday people, find ways to include fitness in their daily lives!

I have come up with a hypothesis. Something I have observed that I think seriously holds people back… Healthy People Lie To Themselves. I just want to start with a little refresher on the idea of Learn. Unlearn. Relearn. Here’s what’s happening… More and more people are coming into Clovis and that is great! I’ve gotten some more clients who consider themselves, “healthy people.” Now, I won’t even talk about the psychological tricks their minds are playing on them… Calling themselves healthy person, but hiring me for help, and usually overweight. There’s this phenomenon in all skills, really. Martial arts, shooting guns, any type of fitness, and especially nutrition… The more a person thinks they know, the harder they are to teach. Beginners are hands down the easiest people to teach. It’s why you’ve heard me use the term in the past, “always be a white belt.” You’ve also heard me talk about how bringing your baggage from previous “diets” into the Clovis world is the same as being a complete jerk to your brand new wonderful boyfriend because your last boyfriend cheated on you… Marriage - An Analogy: When someone asks you how long you’ve been married, you tell them how many years…. If you’ve been married for 6 years, You don’t say, “well, I really started exploring romantic relationships when I was 15 years old. There have been a lot of ups and downs on this rollercoaster ride but now I’ve found the one for me! I’ve been married for 40 years.” No. You don’t count the previous relationships as part of your marriage. You say, "I've been married for 6 years." Yet, people will come to me and say they’ve been “eating healthy and exercising for 20 years.” Then I proceed to tell them that everything they think know about health and wellness is wrong. Like… completely wrong. But somehow, they just keep saying their health and wellness journey has been 20 years. No. If you’ve been Clovis for 6 months, you have 6 months of experience as a healthy person. That’s all there is to it. You have decades of experience being an unhealthy person… but you have 6 months of being a healthy person. Always remember that. I bring this up because of these recent Just Justin Podcast episodes I've released have led to amazing messages from people… It’s finally gotten even Clovis Veterans to be honest with themselves and admit that they still participate in habitual behaviors that are not good for them!! Sure, they started eating differently with Clovis… but they didn’t fully wipe the slate clean!! Clean Slate: You must be willing to wipe the slate clean and start over! Don’t bring any of your old baggage with you into Clovis! Don't let any of your calorie-counting follow you into Clovis. Don’t let the pointless workouts that do nothing but increase your risk of injury come into Clovis. Don’t let your cheat days or your “everything in moderation” junk come into Clovis. Start Over! If you’re on Day 2 of Clovis, your health and wellness journey has lasted a grand total of 2 days… That's all there is to it!

What is the Best Source of B12?

  • Animal Proteins and Organ Meats

Why Did You Add Items to the Approved Foods List?

  • To ensure compliance. I only approve very specific items. Details matter. 

Omega 3 vs. Omega 6?

  • Too much Omega 6 can be inflammatory. That said, if you are following a Clovis protocol, this is a moot point. Don't worry about it. 

Why Is Dairy So Bad?

  • Most dairy in America is from feedlot cattle and is wildly inflammatory. The animals are fed antibiotics and hormones which are stored in the fat you are drinking. Most dairy products also contain sugar. Check the ingredients list on milk, you'll be shocked by the sugar content! 

The Truth About Acid Reflux...

  • This is a problem of not enough stomach acid causing foods to not be properly digested. They rot and ferment in your gut and cause heartburn. Treating this with antacids only makes the problem worse! 

Thoughts on Depression and Changing Your Diet vs. Antidepressants?

  • Depression begins with poor gut health. It is an inflammatory chronic disease. Lifestyle intervention will always be more powerful at reversing chronic disease than conventional medicine and pharmaceuticals. 

What are Your Thoughts on MCT Oil?

  • Fantastic superfood! Follow my recommendations on the Approved Foods List. 

What Are The Benefits of Oil Pulling? 

  • Mostly that coconut oil is antimicrobial. Kills the bad bacteria in the mouth and changes the environment so healthy bacteria can thrive. 

Can You Make Suggestions for Better Sleep? 

Can You Explain Why Salt Doesn't Affect Blood Pressure?

Why Is Pea Protein Bad?

Do Sprouts and Broccoli Cause Heartburn?

  • Absolutely not. 

Will Bacon Make Me Fat? 

  • That depends on the rest of your diet. Bacon alone will not make you fat.

How Much Is Too Much Collagen?

  • Collagen is very hard to overdo. Just stay within your Custom Macros! 

Do You Have Any Tips to Help Deal With Cravings for Unhealthy Foods?

  • Remove them all from your home! No exceptions! Remove them and the cravings will subside. If they are simply not an option, it makes things much easier.  When out and about, you must rely on discipline here. Discipline equals freedom.

You're All A Bunch of Tweakers!... Excuse Me?!:

That's right... I said, "Tweakers!" I’ve worked with over 600 of you in just the year 2018 alone… There are two things I’ve determined as irrefutable fact. The Top 2 trends I have seen in virtually every single client… 

  1. Obesity is an Ego Problem.
  2. You’re all a bunch of "Tweakers."

I want to be clear; both of these items work synergistically and hand-in-hand... They feed on one another in the worst ways possible… Obesity is an Ego Problem! This is why I say if I can’t fix your mindset, there’s no reason for you to switch to Clovis… You will fail.  Because Obesity is an Ego problem. We need to fix your mindset first. I need you to Unlearn everything you thought you knew and Relearn the accurate information that will empower you to live a better life. I need to fix your mindset before you can ever begin to pursue a life of meaning and fulfillment. I Had To "Trick" You To Get You Here: The problem is… In the beginning, you were all so focused on “weight loss” that I couldn’t mention a word about mindset or Ego or you would have never consumed a moment of my content.  Everything I said to you had to be“Lose 10 pounds in 1 week!”“Lose 30 pounds in 30 days!”“30 Days to Rapid Fat Loss!"... and on and on.  My first every E-book was called, "The Simple Slim-Down: A Guide To Rapid Fat Loss." Why is that?! Well, because you were all married to your ideas… You lacked even a baseline level of self-awareness to understand the root causes of your weight problems…You had blinders on!  An Epidemic:  We have an Epidemic in America that I call, “lack of self-awareness.” People are brainwashed and 100% married to their beliefs, and they don’t even realize it… Dogma is everywhere. Challenge peoples’ beliefs and they see it as a personal attack on their character… I want to be clear:

  • There is nothing on Earth more silly than thinking your beliefs define you as a human being. 
  • You cannot attach your identity to ideas
  • I assure you, you very rarely have a thought, opinion, or idea that is 100% original and your own.

Thoughts and ideas are put into your heads by others! Tony Robbins has one of my favorite quotes: 

  • “All suffering begins with a focus on the SELF.”

What Is Ego?:

Tricia Nelson was a guest on my Podcast and is a Best-Selling Author. In her book, "Heal Your Hunger: 7 Simple Steps to End Emotional Eating Now," Tricia outlines the following examples, all of which are manifestations of Ego:

  • Defensiveness
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Insecurities
  • Taking things personally
  • Competitiveness
  • Comparing ourselves to others
  • Seeking approval from others
  • Feeling superior to others​
  • Wanting credit for your actions​
  • ​Putting people down and gossiping
