18 Nov 2020 | How to offer the Prayer of Need (Salaatul Hajah) - Dr. Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi (English) | 00:04:37
Salah is the biggest source for establishing relations with Allah, and asking for one’s needs. Allah says in His Holy Book: Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 153O believers! Seek comfort in patience and prayer. Allah is truly with those who are patient. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 45And seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, it is a burden except for the humble Surah Al-Ma’idah, Verse 12Allah made a covenant with the Children of Israel and appointed twelve leaders from among them and ˹then˺ said, “I am truly with you. If you establish prayer, pay alms-tax, believe in My messengers, support them, and lend to Allah a good loan, I will certainly forgive your sins and admit you into Gardens under which rivers flow. And whoever among you disbelieves afterwards has truly strayed from the Right Way.” When we face any difficulty and trouble we should keep patience, and establish relation with Allah by offering Salah with intense care. Whenever the Prophet (PBUH) faced any difficulty, he would at once turn to Salah. As it is mentioned in a Hadeeth: Huzaifah (RA) said: “Whenever the Prophet (PBUH) faced any difficult situation, he would hasten for Salah with intense care.” (Abu Dawud, Musnad Ahmad) Besides five times Salah, the Prophet (PBUH) used to perform Salatut Tahajjud (Salah offered at midnight or any time at night before the Dawn), Slatul Ishraq (its time begins twenty minutes after the sunrise), Salatudh Dhuha (its time begins after the sunrise and ends at the meridian (Zawale Aaftab), Tahiyyatul Wudhu (thanksgiving Salah after the completion of wudhu), and Tahiyyatul Masjid (thanksgiving prayer after entering into the mosque). Whenever there was an earthquake or wind storm, the prophet (PBUH) would go to the mosque and start offering Salah. When he faced starvation or any other problem, he would go to the mosque. When he came back from a journey, he would, first of all, go to the mosque. So, we should take special care of Salah, and if we face any trouble, we should seek help through Salah. 29 Mar 2020 | Extract from "My Path to Islam: Australian Muslim Revert Stories" - Chapter: "Abu Bakr’s Way to Islam" (English) | 00:18:39
Extract from “My Path to Islam: Australian Muslim Revert Stories”Chapter: “Abu Bakr’s Way to Islam” The following is the true account of an Australian revert taken from the honours thesis of Sister Tuba Boz. His name is Abu Bakr, and while his name, like many of those of his fellow-reverts, is chosen for its meaning and its nearness to some aspect of Islam, or that of the life of the Prophet of Arabia, Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), his story is truly that of an Australian young man with all his Australianism intact. And though he, himself, does not wish to be seen as other than a Muslim, it is, for fellow-Australians, encouragement and living proof of the Qur’anic ayat: Surah 49: 13” O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted. “ If one had told Abu Bakr earlier, that he would one day become a Muslim, his reply would most probably have been, “Naah! No way!!!” for like many Australians his perception of Muslims was that they were terrorists. However, there is no accounting for the Mercy and Graciousness of Allah who leads to His Path those whom He wills from all peoples upon the earth; and Abu Bakr was to find this in due course. When asked what had triggered his search to find the true meaning of life, for that was the primary aim of his quest, his response was this: “There were a couple of things. It was the year my parents said they were going to separate. It was not the year they formally divorced, but it was the year my Dad moved out of the house. I went a little off the rails. I (even) had trouble with the police… I was drinking alot.” It may be seen that this was a painful time for this young man. This was to be further compounded, for it was in this year that one of his friends died. Of this event he said: “That led me to think, ‘There’s my mate. He just died, and he is only eighteen years old! Is he just worm food?’ You know what I mean. That’s when I started relating it to my life, thinking, ‘If I died tomorrow what would it matter? What would it matter except to the few who know me among the billions on this Earth?’ So I started thinking, ‘No! There has to be more. There has to be more than just this!”’ It was with these questions in mind that Abu Bakr commenced his journey, looking to religion for the meaning of existence. He describes his experiences in this way: “First, I mean, logically, I’m an Aussie, so I went straight to Christianity, and I thought I’d have that fish sticker on the back of my car, and “I love Jesus”. I was thinking I’d go buy them and see if they did something for my parking fine!” his waggish sense of humour bubbling to the fore. Then seriously he explains, “Honestly I went through all the (Christian) religions; well not all the religions, but the ones I had access to I investigated. Christianity, including Catholicism, I investigated quite a bit. But the problem was I just couldn’t find the answer. While they were all nice, I couldn’t sit there and say, “This is the religion for me! ’ and ‘This sounds beautiful! ’” His search continued: “I looked at Hinduism when I was working in a service station with some Hindu friends... If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.” “Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make a difference!” After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf.

09 Jun 2024 | How to Perform Hajj - Mufti Umar Shafiq Hijazi (English) | 00:11:07
Summary in English In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Hajj is an essential obligation in Islam, made mandatory in the 9th year of Hijra. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) performed Hajj in the 10th year, known as the Farewell Hajj. The Prophet (PBUH) performed Hajj Qiran, while most companions intended Hajj Ifrad. He instructed them to perform Tamattu as they were unaware of the correct procedures. There are three types of Hajj: Tamattu, Ifrad, and Qiran. In Tamattu and Qiran, both Umrah and Hajj are performed in one journey, whereas, in Ifrad, only Hajj is performed. Certain restrictions apply during the state of Ihram, such as not wearing stitched clothing, applying perfume, or hunting. Upon reaching Mecca, pilgrims perform Tawaf, followed by Sa'i between Safa and Marwah. Those performing Tamattu exit the state of Ihram and re-enter it on the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah. Pilgrims go to Mina on the 8th, Arafat on the 9th for supplication until sunset, and then to Muzdalifah for combined prayers and overnight stay. On the 10th, they perform the stoning of Jamrat al-Aqabah, sacrifice an animal, and shave or cut their hair, followed by Tawaf al-Ifadah. They perform stoning on the 11th and 12th and may stay for the 13th for an additional stoning. Before leaving Mecca, they perform the Farewell Tawaf, completing the major rituals of Hajj. 06 Jan 2022 | Rulings on Iddat / Iddah (Waiting Period) – Dr. Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi (English) | 00:08:16
A lady asked: Can you please share some information (in the light of Quran’O Hadith) regarding Iddat both in case of Khula and in case of Talaq? Will be thankful to you. Issues of Iddat (Waiting Period)Meaning of Iddat: literally, the meaning of “Iddat” is to count, whereas “Iddat” in the Islamic Shari’ah, is a fixed period within which the wife, due to the death of her husband, or divorce/repudiation (redemption) that results in the separation of both the spouses, is bound to observe some legitimate provisions. Owing to difference in natural conditions of a woman, waiting period is varied, whose detailed discussion is mentioned below. Legal Status of Iddat (Waiting period): In the light of the Qur’an and Sunnah, the Muslim Ummah is agreed that because of death of husband, or divorce or repudiation (redemption) and consequently being husband and wife separated, Iddat (waiting period) is obligatory (enjoinment) on the wife. The waiting period is obligatory for two reasons:
In case, the wife is not pregnant and her husband dies, then her Iddat (waiting period) will be 4 months and 10 days, whether she is menstruating or not, whether she has genuine sexual intercourse or not, as Allah the Almighty says in the holy Qur’an: وَالَّذيْنَ يُتَوَفَّوْنَ مِنْكُمْ وَ يَذَرُوْنَ أَزْواَجاً يَّتَرَبَّصْنَ بِاَنْفُسِهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَّ عَشْراً And those who are taken in death among you and leave wives behind – they, (the wives, shall) wait four months and ten (days). (Baqarah 234). If the wife is pregnant at the time of her husband’s death, then the waiting period will end upon the delivery of the baby, whether its period would be less than four months and ten days or more than that. As Allah the Exalted said in the holy Qur’an: وَأُوْلاَتُ الأَحْمَالِ أَجَلُهُنَّ أَنْ يَّضَعْنَ حَمْلَهُنَّ (al-Talaq: 4), and for those who are pregnant, their term is until they give birth. I asked a few people about the cost of hiring a wheelchair with an official helper in Masjid Al-Haram, Makkah, for Tawaf and Sa’ee. Here are the responses I received: Abdul Jaleel: “I used without helper and it was SAR 50. With helper may be around SAR 100 i guess” Usman Arshad: “Last month I paid SAR 200 for both Tawaf and Sa’ee” Muhammad Affan Butt: “Rate is not fixed, range is from SAR 150 to SAR 200 on average, based on crowd and season” Sajjad Riaz: “Last time i paid SAR 150” Abu Bakr Farooq: “I have used it for Sa’ee for my kids, cost around SAR 70” Sabih ur Rehman: “On the 3rd floor of Haram, if you go from near Safa in Sa’ee area, you will find a small office for electric wheelchairs, from there you can get an electric wheelchair for SAR 50 for either Tawaf or Sa’ee and if you would like to take for both Tawaf and Sa’ee then it will cost SAR 100” Muhammad Nasir Khan: “We found unofficial helpers with wheelchairs just outside our hotel, they provided complete umrah service from hotel to hotel for SAR 100 per wheelchair” An internet search revealed the following: Marwan Asmar: “I hired a wheelchair and a uniformed attendant, provided at a cost of 200 Saudi riyals that goes towards the upkeep of the Haram.” Omar: “In Masjid Alharam there are two kinds of wheelchairs: 1) Regular wheelchairs (no driver): there are more than 10,000 wheelchairs dedicated to elderly people free of charge, and all you need to do is to register your information at wheelchairs office and they will hand it to you under one condition that you return it to the same place. There are two offices just outside Haram, one on the east side and the other on the west side. You can ask any staff there to guide you to its location, ask for a free wheelchair or in Arabic “Araba Majanan”. Note: most hotels nearby Haram provide their guests with a wheelchair (free of charge), maybe you need to communicate with your hotel to check their availability beforehand. If you wish to hire a driver (Mutawwif) which I think you don’t need, there is a charge around 150 SAR per person. 2) Self Service Electric Wheelchair: Haram recently introduce new self-driving electric wheelchairs. There are two types of EW: single EW costs 100 SAR and Double EW costs 200 SAR. Hire office is located in the second floor and again you can ask the staff about these Electric wheelchairs or in Arabic “Araba kahraba”.” Continue Reading: Cost of Hiring a Wheelchair in Masjid Al-Haram, Makkah (English)

24 Jul 2020 | Request for Donations for School in a Bus for Syrian Refugees - Read Foundation (English) | 00:03:07
None of us wishes for war and conflict, it is something that scars the earth and the people that unfortunately get caught up in it. Because of the conflict in Syria, which started nearly 10 years ago, an entire generation of children have missed out on an essential upbringing and education. This conflict will not only impact them now but for many years to come. We simply cannot stand by and let this happen. These children need a lifeline and Alhamdulillah Read Foundation is able to provide at least one of those lifelines. Read Foundation is on the ground in the Beqaa refugee camp, which I myself have visited in Lebanon. It is saving lives and also educating young minds in the process. I am proud to announce that Read Foundation has developed a school in a bus that caters to 300 children and provides them with the tools they need to learn and develop. These children are given books, learning materials, a mobile classroom with screens and Interactive whiteboards and they’re also given daily food, face masks and regular temperature check, due to the COVID pandemic. I urge you especially during this blessed ten days to give whatever you can. This is the best Sadaqa Jaria, providing to orphans and providing to the underprivileged children for the conflict in Syria, providing education and helping them to get through this difficult time. For just 30 pounds a month, that’s just a pound a day, you can provide valuable education, shelter, food and provision for a valuable orphan today. Simply visit readfoundation.org.uk or call 03000 121 121 now. Education is a fundamental right for anybody. Not only does it benefit individuals economically it also contributes positively to society. More importantly, it gives a child a ray of hope for a better future. The School in a Bus project looks to work within the difficult environment of the refugee camps and revive education for many Syrian refugee children. It has been reported that half of the Syrian refugee children aged 3 – 18 are out-of-school and denied a basic right because of the country’s upheaval. Human Rights Watch has stated that 210,000 school-age refugee children are in donor supported schools, illustrating how donor support is vital to the education of a Syrian refugee child in a time where other systems have failed them. The project aims to give 300 Syrian children aged 6 – 14 basic literacy and numeracy skills in conjunction with Lebanese educational standards and curriculum. The aim is to enable children to continue into the Lebanese education system. First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah: Allah has sworn by the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah in the Quran (By the Dawn. By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah) Sura Al-Fajr, Verses: 1-2). This shows that the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are of great importance in Islam. The important rite of Hajj i.e. ‘Wuqufe Arafah’ is also performed in these ten days, which is the day of acquiring the greatest blessings of Allah. Thus, after Ramadan, there is the best chance to attain the success in the Hereafter in these days. Therefore, in these days, worship Allah as much as you can, do His Zikr, observe fast and offer sacrifice. There are special virtues of worshipping in these days which are mentioned in Ahadith, out of which I am describing some Ahadith below: ❖ It is reported from Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) said: “On no other days are good deeds more liked by Allah than on these ten days (i.e. the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah).” (Sahih Bukhari) ❖ It is reported from Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) said: “No other days are considered more virtuous by Allah than these ten days, therefore, you should recite Tasbeeh-o-Tehleel and Takbeer-o-Tahmeed in abundance.” (Tabraani) ❖ In these days, everyone should try to recite Takbeer-e-Tashreeq as much as possible. The kalimaat (wordings) of Takbeer-e-Tashreeq are: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar La Ilaha Illallahu Wallahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Wa lillahil Hamd. Fasting on the Day of Arafah: Hazrat Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad ( صل الله ع ي لل ل ) said: “I am strongly hopeful that Allah will forgive the sins of one year before and one year after for those who observe fast on the day of Arafah. (Muslim) The above Hadith clearly states that fasting on the day of Arafah leads to the forgiveness of sins of one year before and one year after. Therefore, we should pay especial heed towards fasting on the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah. But the question arises as to whether the people of India and Pakistan should fast on the 9th day of Dhul-Hijjah according to their calendar or according to Saudi Arabia on the day of Hajj. Generally, there is difference of one day in the lunar calendar between Saudi Arabia and India and Pakistan. First of all, I would say that many Hadiths mention the special virtue of fasting between the first Dhul-Hijjah and the 9th Dhul-Hijjah. So, the best option is to fast on both days. But if a person wants to observe only one fast, then there is a difference of opinion among the jurists and scholars as to which day the fast should be observed. Since there are different opinions, it is permissible to follow any of the two views, because fasting on the day of 'Arafah is not obligatory. It is Masnoon. Our scholars believe that the people of India and Pakistan should fast on the 9th day according to their regional calendar, because like Eidul-Fitr, Eidul-Adha and Ashura, we should follow the regional calendar for fasting on the day of Arafa. However, instead of arguing over this issue, we should be flexible and should not try to impose one’s opinion on other. It worth to mention that since the migration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions to Madinah, the Muslims could not perform Hajj due to the occupation of Makkah by the infidels. 07 Jun 2024 | Rulings on Cutting Hair and Nails in Dhul-Hijjah - Mufti Umar Shafiq Hijazi (English) | 00:05:32
Summary in English This audio addresses the question of whether a person intending to perform Qurbani should refrain from cutting their nails and hair from the first to the tenth of Dhu al-Hijjah. It explains that according to a hadith from Umm Salama, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) instructed those who plan to offer a sacrifice to not cut their hair or nails until the sacrifice is made. This practice is considered Sunnah and is not obligatory. If someone forgets and cuts their nails or hair, their sacrifice remains valid. The discussion also covers rules for pilgrims performing Hajj, distinguishing between the Eid sacrifice (Udhiyah) and the Hajj sacrifice (Hady). Pilgrims performing only the Hajj sacrifice can cut their hair and nails during these days, while those also performing the Eid sacrifice should follow the same guidelines as others intending to offer a sacrifice. 07 Apr 2022 | US has been Found Spying on Muslims Again through Prayer Apps on Android (English) | 00:02:33
A data collection code has been found in several Muslim Prayer Apps on the Google Play Store, which was used to spy on Millions of ordinary Muslims around the world. These apps included Al-Moazin Lite (Prayer Times) and Qibla Compass – Ramadan 2022 with over 15 Million downloads. The apps were collecting rich data including precise location information, email and phone numbers and passwords when users used a “cut and paste” feature. The SDK could also view hashed data from WhatsApp image folders and even pull data about nearby computers and mobile devices, potentially mapping out who people meet with on a regular basis. The code was added by a Panamanian company Measurement Systems, which is linked to a Virginia defense contractor, that does cyberintelligence work network-defense and intelligence-intercept work for US agencies. Measurement Systems paid developers around the world to incorporate its code. Measurement Systems claimed developers could earn anywhere from $100 to $10,000 per month as long as they delivered enough users with apps accessing location data. The two researchers who found this code, considered the code to be the most privacy-invasive SDK they have seen in the six years they have been examining mobile apps. They said that without a doubt it should be described as malware. After this finding, Google removed these apps from the Google Play Store on 25th March 2022. But the apps will be allowed back on the store when the spying code is removed. This means, there won’t be any legal actions against any of the involved parties and similar apps can potentially use similar techniques in the future, amid no fear. This is not the first time the US has been found spying on ordinary Muslims around the globe. Back in November 2020, the US was found purchasing location data of Muslims from the Muslim Pro app, with over 98 Million users. It is among the most famous apps used by ordinary Muslims. Although the US government makes a huge hue and cry against China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, etc., but again and again they have been found using similar techniques to spy on ordinary people and intrude on user privacy to ensure modern slavery. It’s a reminder to all Muslims to be careful as they are being monitored 24/7 by even so called democratic governments. 22 Aug 2020 | Connecting Voluntary Blood Donors with Recipients – RedDrop.pk (English) | 00:01:11
This initiative was launched by a friend of my university senior: At RedDrop, we have a simple objective; creating a channel between blood donors and recipients, to ensure that each has their requirements fulfilled in an effective and efficient manner. We register Blood Donors based on their basic information and contact details, which we verify in order to ensure transparency and improve reliability. Blood Recipients follow a similarly simple and easy process. They are required to fill out some necessary forms; once the information they provide has been authenticated, the request forms are propagated through various channels to ensure that they are met with the most number of suitable matches within a certain defined locality or radius. In order to generate maximum possible leads, we propagate these forms using a variety of platforms such as App Notifications, SMS, Facebook and Twitter, along with other locally designed channels. RedDrop was launched in October 2016 by two friends, Imran Mir and Atif Nauman. It was freatured on Footprints: Blood bank of a new order – Newspaper – DAWN.COM and RedDrop can save lives – The Nation.
