10 Mar 202211 Things Negatively Impacting Your Mindset00:36:01

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I’m big on Mindset. I believe it is the number one factor in determining success of an individual. As they say, “you are your own worst enemy”, this can definitely be true as we often set ourselves up for failure with the wrong mindset in place.

You may be thinking that mindset is genetics - that some people are born with an optimistic, resilient mindset, while others are not. If you’ve ever thought that you are weak-willed, or pessimistic, or just generally find it hard to motivate yourself…this episode might come in handy! I will share 11 tips to help you create a stronger “success” mindset. These are small things we can do regularly, and anyone can implement them easily. Try out my advice for yourself and see the difference it makes!

17 Mar 2022Leadership Can Be Joyful with Amy Porterfield00:21:40

Creating a “Joyful Business” is definitely easier said than done, especially when you feel the weight of your company and the success of your team on your shoulders. Despite the challenges, there have been many successful female entrepreneurs who have done so. One of them is someone who has almost become a household name in the entrepreneur field, Amy Porterfield. I’ve invited this tremendously successful business woman here today to share her tips and tricks of running her business over the last dozen years or so.

You won’t want to miss this episode if you want in on her “secrets of success”, and you want to know how to scale your business and grow your brand while maintaining authenticity and joy throughout your team.

24 Mar 2022Just Do You00:22:56

You know that I’m big on building a JOYFUL business, and we can’t be joyful without being true to ourselves. You’ve heard it from everyone - “Just do you”, but this piece of advice can be challenging to follow because it’s natural for us to compare ourselves with others, especially as businesswomen.

While it’s important to know how your competitors are doing, and keep up with content that’s trending in your niche (you don’t want to shut off the world and be completely out of the loop!), it can actually impede your growth when you are too focused on others. In other words, you start “losing yourself”, and that can negatively impact your business BIG TIME.

In this episode I break down WHY authenticity is so important, how it impacts everything about your business from your marketing, to your productivity, to your revenue... This may seem cliche, but “being yourself” really does make all aspects of your business flow easier and bring you more success in the long run. Not to mention, your life will be much more joyful along the way, too! This episode will allow you to reflect upon your business and identify the ways you can be more authentic to yourself while making your business even more successful - win-win!

07 Apr 2022Top 5 Timeless Marketing Strategies00:26:25

Do you find yourself constantly reinventing your marketing strategy, because nothing seems to lead to lasting results? Are you spread so thin trying to turn strangers into leads that you don’t have the time or energy to turn those leads into customers?

Stop, take a deep breath… then get ready to take some notes.

As a business owner, you need to be very intentional about choosing strategies that lead to continued growth, in order to avoid wasting time and effort on tactics that won’t give you the consistent ROI you deserve. With so much information out there, I know that it’s easy to fall for outdated marketing strategies that won’t deliver the goods… or get too overwhelmed to implement anything at all. I also know that as a coach, consultant, or personal brand, it isn’t easy to put yourself on display and ask to be purchased, even if you truly believe in your offers (as you should!).

In this episode, I share 5 timeless, effective marketing strategies that have worked for me over the years and are still working to this day. These aren’t passing trends that will drive the needle for a season and then fizzle out — they’re solid, actionable principles that are here to stay!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll learn:‌ ‌

·         How to concentrate your efforts in order to produce more consistent value for your audience and your customers

·         How to position yourself as an “expert,” rather than just a “business owner”

·         How to create the kind of relationship with your dream clients that makes them want to work with you

21 Apr 2022Fake It Till You Make It00:22:47

“Fake it till you make it.” As popular as this expression is, a lot of people feel a lot of resistance to the idea of “faking it.” Faking it can feel false, inauthentic, or even dishonest. But at its core, “fake it till you make it” is a powerful way to tap into The Law of Attraction.

The Law of Attraction is the idea that we can attract the things we want into our lives through giving them our attention and energetically willing them to happen. This isn’t just a metaphysical idea, it also works on a psychological level! What we believe has a huge effect on how we act — and by truly opening ourselves up to new possibilities, we actually make them more probable.

New possibilities such as landing that amazing client you’ve been dreaming about, being paid what you’re really worth, and becoming a thought leader in your niche.

In this episode, I share specific steps that will help you get into the right mindset to attract the things you want the most. You are never going to feel 100% ready to take on new challenges… but if you’re ready to master the art of faking it till you make it, press play!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • How I used the “fake it till you make it” approach to purchase my dream condo — even though I couldn’t afford it
  • The 3 most common areas where women entrepreneurs benefit from faking it till they make it
  • How to transform from “business owner” to “thought leader” and stand apart from the pack

28 Apr 2022Change Your Relationship with Money with Karen Choi00:53:04

Money is the root of all evil.

I’m not good with money.

It’s not polite to talk about money.

Many women entrepreneurs subscribe to these negative beliefs, even if it’s unconscious. We want money, but we can feel disconnected from the idea of actually making it. If we think about wealth, we picture it belonging to people who don’t look like us. These beliefs are shaped in our childhoods and have a powerful effect on the way that we relate to money throughout our lives… and in the way we run our businesses. Many women are actually resistant to the idea of earning more revenue than what they need to survive!

If thinking about money makes you feel scared, uncomfortable, or ashamed, then it’s time for you to heal your money mindset.

In this episode, I talk to authenticity coach Karen Choi about how to develop a healthy relationship with money, feel more confident in pursuing wealth, and empower our children with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive financially.

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll learn:‌ ‌

  • How generational, cultural, and religious beliefs impact the way that you think about money — and how to heal your family’s money mindset
  • How to turn a wish for more revenue into action items or habits that will help you get there
  • How to take a joyful, aligned approach to money and make earning (and managing it) fun!

About Karen Choi: Karen is an authenticity coach who works one-to-one with professionals who value authenticity in their life choices, career moves, relationships, and creative outputs. She is a mom of two and the host of The Secret Muse Society podcast.

02 Jun 2022A New Approach to "Balance"00:24:15

“Balance.” Do you find the word calming, aspirational… or triggering?

No matter how you feel about it, balance is a big conversation in the business world right now! We’re all supposed to be aiming for it, but it’s become clear that the concept of balance is pretty unrealistic — something that mompreneurs know all too well!

I’ll come right out and say it: maintaining perfect balance just isn’t possible, especially when you’re juggling motherhood and entrepreneurship. But in this episode of the Business of Thinking Big, I’m going to offer a new perspective for you to consider.

It’s time to let go of the concept of balance as a perfect ratio of work and life and start thinking about trying to spend more of your time in a state of flow.

09 Jun 2022Human-First Copy with Sara Vartanian00:39:29

If a picture is worth a thousand words, is copywriting really that important to your business?

Of course, the answer is YES, and I’m thrilled to have the super-talented launch copywriter Sara Vartanian join me to explore why the copy on your website and sales page, in your emails, and shared on your socials has such a powerful impact on the types of relationships that you form with your audience.

Relationships are a big piece of Sara’s human-first approach to copy, which focuses on first connecting with the people that we most LOVE to serve, and putting their needs front and centre in our sales — this means deeply understanding and addressing their objections, and guiding them into a buying decision that feels aligned.

Press play to learn about the biggest copywriting mistakes that small businesses make and how to write copy that’s more creative, ethical, and authentic!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

16 Jun 2022Business Lessons from my Dad00:18:14

In honour of Father’s Day, I’ve put together a very special episode of the Business of Thinking Big podcast. In this episode, I share six of the most insightful and powerful lessons about business that I learned from my dad.

When it comes to marketing, my dad was expert. At the time of his retirement, he was the Media Director for The Hudson’s Bay Company, and that’s just one of many high-level marketing positions that he held during his long and successful career. Though he retired before the rise of digital media, the lessons that he passed on to me are fundamental business principles that still hold up strongly today. As I’ve built a thriving business and helped other mompreneurs grow their own, his teachings have continued to guide me.

Now, I want to share them with YOU.

This episode does get a little emotional, but I believe that vulnerability and authenticity are important… and I KNOW that you’ll find amazing benefit in these timeless lessons. Grab a pen, and let’s get started.

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll learn:‌ ‌

·         The importance of doing things YOUR way and figuring out how your brain works best

·         Why the loudest voice in the room isn’t always the most respected — even when they’re in a leadership role

·         How to cultivate a healthier and more productive money mindset at any income

23 Jun 2022Overcoming Fear of Failure with Stephanie Muskat00:49:46

Does a fear of failure hold you back from taking big, bold steps in your business — or from launching altogether? You’re not alone! As entrepreneurs, we feel pressure from ALL sides. We want to impress not only our customers, but our fellow entrepreneurs, friends, and family. An offer falling flat can make us feel as though we’ve lost credibility in the eyes of our audience, which can lower our confidence… and even make us start to think about giving up.

If you want to achieve the success that you deserve, you need to be able to work through that fear… and come out the other side stronger than before!

My guest Stephanie Muskat is the founder of the mental health community Compassion in Caregiving. When Stephanie launched her first group program, she got the response that no entrepreneur wants to get… crickets. Stephanie could have let this kill her confidence. Instead, she sat back and followed my #1 piece of advice when it comes to fear of failure — and wound up feeling even better about her business than before her launch!

Listen now to discover:‌ ‌

·         Where our deepest fears of failures stem from and why women in particular are so strongly affected

·         My #1 tip for preventing your launch from becoming a source of overwhelming worry

·         The silver lining that hides inside our failures — and how to use it to become a better business owner

Guest bio: Stephanie Muskat is a registered social worker with over 10 years working in the mental health field as both a researcher and acute care social worker. After working with countless caregivers experiencing significant emotional stress and burden, and having acted as a primary caregiver herself to both her mother and grandmother, Stephanie founded Compassion in Caregiving to bridge the gaps caregivers often face in our healthcare system.

30 Jun 2022My fave Business Books Part 400:29:02

Summer is here and you know what that means: it’s time for my Top 10 Favourite Business Books!

If you get to enjoy a little downtime during the warmer months (and I hope that you do!), these are the books that I highly recommend tucking into your luggage or your beach tote in the coming weeks. These aren’t necessarily books that are hot off the presses, but each of them contains resonant business insights or strategies, no matter when they were first published.

This year, I’ve made an effort to seek out and include more diverse authors in this list since exploring new perspectives is a great way to expand your own, and I’d love to have more of my mamapreneurs recognize elements of their own experiences!

This year’s list covers both mindset and business strategy, and includes books about implementing habits, cold calling, harnessing your energy, dealing with doubt and fear, and lessons on meditation written by a monk.

Want to know which titles to add to your shopping list? You’ll have to press play!

07 Jul 2022Why Choose Me?00:22:10

When curious prospects visit your website, they’re not coming to look at your headshots or your web design. They’re coming to get the answer to one question: why should they work with you?

And your answer to that question should be clearly outlined, front and centre.

Your “Why Choose Me” statement (or “Why Choose Us,” if your business isn’t a personal brand) is your opportunity to share your special sauce with your audience and let them know what sets your work apart from the work of your competitors. You can think of it as a display case for your unique value — it doesn’t need to be fully loaded, but it should contain some eye-catching items that make your audience sit up and take notice!

While many of us struggle to put our juiciest selling points into words, you actually have a full arsenal of benefits that you can use to attract the sale… even if you haven’t yet realized it! In this episode, you’ll learn the seven key areas of your experience and expertise where you can find “Why Choose Me” gold! Grab a pen and hit play, because we’re about to unlock your secret sauce.

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • How to narrow in on 3-5 benefits of working with you that will turn idle browsers into eager buyers — and communicate them in a compelling way
  • Why your “years of experience” might be quite a bit longer than you currently advertise
  • How your unique personal values set you apart — and why they can become such a strong draw for your people

21 Jul 2022The Art of Receiving00:42:30

Are you unknowingly telling your potential customers that you aren’t worth their investment??

It’s not easy to ask for what we want and sometimes it can be hard to accept what we need — or even what we have earned. In order for your business to thrive, you need to be creating offers and selling those offers to people willing and eager to pay for them. This is a healthy and necessary exchange that is going to create value for both sides… but many business owners, women in particular, have trouble with the receiving side.

There’s a fine art to receiving abundance that many people haven’t mastered. Some of us may even feel a little afraid or anxious when it comes to receiving wealth. In fact, many of us feel UNWORTHY of it. This resistance to receiving wealth can even prevent us from setting up the systems we need in order to organize our business finances, which can lead to very unpleasant experiences when tax season rolls around — yikes!

Even worse, when you truly believe that you are unworthy to receive, you send that energy out into the universe… and the people you deal with WILL pick up on it. In this episode, you’ll learn how to identify the ways that you may be unknowingly sabotaging your own chances of success, with real-world examples and actionable solutions to help you heal your mindset!

You’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • What happens when we approach sales with feelings of unworthiness and why we’re often filled with regret afterward
  • How to identify the invisible ceilings you’ve created for yourself — and then break through them!
  • How to rethink and reframe the act of selling so that you can recognize the true value you offer

11 Aug 2022Team Culture with Kaitlin Sandor-Kerr00:38:19

‘Company culture’ is a concept that has become very popular over the past 15 years. A great company culture helps people feel connected, supported, respected, and accepted, and it can be shaped by a wide range of different things, including policies, team events, core values, dress codes, manager expectations, and especially your leadership style. Even if you’ve not yet begun to hire a team, it’s critically important to consider your company culture so that when you’re ready to expand, you’re able to attract your dream team!

So how do you develop and nurture a company culture that both empowers your team to bring their A game and keeps them excited about your mission?

Kaitlin Sandor-Kerr is the founder of Toronto-based boutique HR consultancy Support Panda, which offers virtual HR Support for small businesses and start-ups. In this episode of the Business of Thinking Big, we dive deep into company culture, including what it REALLY means, why it’s so important, who should have input, and how developing your own company culture starts with discovering what you already have in place — and reinforcing the things that are already working!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

04 Aug 2022How to Say No00:35:13

Saying “No” — and sticking to it — is a skill that it has taken me years to (almost) master. Although it can feel a little uncomfortable to draw boundaries, this skill is absolutely vital to have in your toolbox as a business owner, and especially as a mompreneur. Chances are, much of your time is spent serving other peoples’ agendas, from creating no-bake cheesecake bars for the bake sale to serving on a Board of Directors for a community organization… and this is on top of driving to swim practice, picking up from sleepovers, or doing the weekly grocery shop!

With such a limited amount of time available to us, we MUST ensure that we are taking on the tasks and opportunities that are worth our time and energy. And when it comes to our businesses, we need to make sure that we’re saying “Yes!” to the tasks and opportunities that are most aligned with our goals — and in order to do that, we can’t let ourselves be caught up with projects and clients that aren’t serving our greater purpose.

Remember: when one door closes, a million doors open!

This episode is all about creating more time freedom in your schedule, and learning how to recognize and leverage the amount of choice you actually have in how you spend your time (great news: you have more choice than you realize!). BONUS: I also share a script that will help you politely decline the not-portunities that come your way.

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • How to avoid common collaboration pitfalls — and what to keep in mind as you consider partnerships or guest appearances
  • Which clients you need to learn to walk away from (and how leaving them behind can help you connect with your best-fit clients!)
  • How to say “No” to tasks INSIDE of your business that aren’t within your zone of genius

18 Aug 2022Stop Settling in your Business00:21:14

When it comes to your business (and the rest of your life, for that matter), it’s time to stop settling for “good enough!” You deserve to be serving the kind of clients you want to work with, making the kind of money that will fuel your desired lifestyle, and doing the type of work that lights you up and aligns with your purpose and goals.

So… why do so many of us settle for a business that is just okay?

Yes, as mompreneurs, we can be a little short on time! But once we fall into a pattern of “just keeping up” with our content, sales, and marketing, rather than growing, then our business isn’t thriving — it’s only surviving.

In this episode, I’ll help you define your five-year vision, get really clear and detailed on your goals, and start taking the impactful actions that will help you build the business and lifestyle that you truly deserve. Grab a pen and notebook, you’ll definitely want to take some notes for this one!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • How to envision what the “final form” of your ideal business will look like (and why gaining this clarity is so crucial)
  • Questions that will help you get crystal clear on what you’re truly working toward
  • 3 steps that you can start taking today in order to build a business that is GREAT, instead of just okay!

25 Aug 2022Mindset & Momentum with A-Players00:36:17

No matter how great your strategy is, mindset remains a critical piece of the puzzle when it comes to turning your ideas into confident action, making greater impact, and reaping the rewards. It’s the mindset choices that you intentionally make, each and every day, that will help you step into your CEO role and build real momentum in your business.

As I like to say, momentum breeds momentum — and once you get into motion, you can start to see some incredible results!

In this episode of the Business of Thinking Big, I sit down with not one, but TWO of my amazing A-Players to talk about the mindset shifts that have helped them move into motion and begin to build the businesses that they’ve always dreamed of running.

We get honest and candid about limiting beliefs, coping with overwhelm, the hazards of setting the bar too low, and the relationship between mindset and momentum. If you’re ready to be inspired to push your business to the next level, then it’s time to press play!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • 3 major mindset shifts that have changed the way that my A-Players do business
  • Why selling feels so much harder when YOU are the product — and how to bring more confidence and clarity to your sales calls
  • How to reframe the way that we approach entrepreneurship (especially when we start to feel overwhelmed)!

Guest bios: Britteney is a business strategist and coach who helps high-achieving women follow their dream businesses that are aligned with their dream purposes, identify the gaps that are within their businesses, and strategize to close them. 01 Sep 2022Overcoming the Fear of Visibility00:28:55

What does your brand’s Instagram look like? Is your page full of impersonal images and motivational quotes from other people… without a single picture of you to be seen?

Now more than ever, creating a personal connection with your audience is essential! People want to understand your values and know that there is a real person behind the screen before they decide whether they want to work with you. If you want to be successful, you need to get comfortable with being a little vulnerable.

Yvonne Chavez is one of my amazing A-Players and the founder and CEO of Lotus Fitness Studio, an outdoor studio located in Whittier, California with a focus on wellness and community. In order to grow her business, she needed to step up and move into the spotlight as the face and voice of her brand — something that Yvonne (and many other women entrepreneurs) often find challenging.

In this episode of the Business of Thinking Big, we talk about the journey from beginner business owner to seasoned and successful leader of an empire, why it’s so important to be authentic and visible, and why being an entrepreneur can sometimes feel like living a double life!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • What holds many women back from being more visible in their businesses — and the big benefits of finally taking the stage
  • How playing the comparison game can lead you to stunt your own business growth without realizing it
  • The Instagram strategy that was holding Yvonne back — and the mindset tricks that helped her successfully (and joyfully!) turn it all around

I have a question for you: how often do your face and voice show up on your brand’s Instagram page?

If you only post inspirational quotes and pictures of your morning coffee, then you’re not building an effective personal connection with your audience.

In this week’s episode of the Business of Thinking Big, I sit down with A-Player and @lotusfitstudio CEO Yvonne Chavez to talk about how she stepped up and moved into the spotlight as the face and voice of her brand — and why this was SO important to her growth!

Bonus: you’ll learn the mindset tricks that helped her revamp her strategy and get more comfortable!

08 Sep 2022Refocusing after a Break00:26:07

We all need breaks. When I say “break,” I’m not talking about taking a few moments away from work to change a dirty diaper or drive the kids to soccer practice. We all need REAL downtime where we are able to fully unplug and step away from our obligations and responsibilities for a little while — this is essential in terms of being able to recharge and avoid burnout.

As mompreneurs, we’re conditioned to feel needed all the time and that often leads us to feel guilty when we consider taking some time away from our businesses to just be present for ourselves or for our families. Even worse, when we actually DO schedule some downtime, we can wind up experiencing overwhelm when we return to work and feel as though we need to work twice as hard just to catch up — yikes!

Working HARDER isn’t the key to being successful. If you want to be a focused and capable leader for your team and for your clients, you need to create a healthy balance that allows you to show up refreshed and ready to shine.

In other words, taking breaks is actually GOOD for your business!

In this episode, I share my top strategies for re-focusing after a break and getting the biggest benefit from your downtime. Because you deserve it!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • The first thing you should do when you return from an extended leave of five business days or more
  • Why overworking yourself to feel successful NOW will diminish the growth that you can achieve in the future
  • The trick to setting goals that you’re more likely to achieve — and how to get clear on your most impactful goals

06 Oct 2022Embracing your Quirky with Nikki Takahashi00:45:45

It can be scary to show up online as your authentic self. You may feel as though your quirkiness isn’t “professional,” interesting, or even likeable. But the best way to connect honestly with the people most likely to understand and relate to you is to be yourself—even if that means being a little bit messy or offbeat! People are more likely to want to work with you if they feel that they “get” you!

In this episode, I sit down with one of the incredible speakers featured at our upcoming MamaCon 2022, Nikki Takahashi. During this conversation, we talk about getting over the fear of taking public stands, finding the right balance between openness and privacy, and our favourite quirky brand case studies. If you’re ready to embrace your uniqueness and infuse your amazing personality into your brand, just press play!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌

  • Why so many entrepreneurs resist embracing their quirks—and why we need to expand our understanding of “professional”
  • The type of people that you should NOT be thinking about when you’re creating content or showing up online
  • What it really looks like to embrace what makes you different—and how it can benefit your business

Love the episode? You’ll want to check out MamaCon and the rest of our amazing speakers! Nikki Takahashi is a Digital Media Designer and brand strategist who has helped over 300 entrepreneurs embrace and amplify what makes them unique. 27 Oct 2022Unexpected Growth00:27:54

The last couple of years have been a time of transition for many people… and for many small businesses. The slower pace of business these days may have you feeling impatient or frustrated — full disclosure, I can feel a little bit impatient myself at times! But it’s important to understand that each person who considers your offers will be at a different stage of readiness, and you won’t always get that instant YES.

These days, many of the people considering your offers will need some time to marinate, even when they TRULY want to work with you… and that’s okay. I can tell you right now, patience is definitely a virtue when it comes to entrepreneurship!

When we hold specific expectations for the ways that things “should” happen in our businesses, it can be very easy to overlook growth and opportunities that don’t match our expectations. When we don’t match up to a specific internalized idea of success, we can feel as though we’re failures or imposters.

It’s time to reconsider the way that you think about growth… and realize that you may be more successful than you give yourself credit for!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • Why closing a sale isn’t a single moment, but a blend of action and contemplation that can last days, weeks, or even months
  • Why growth can sometimes happen in unexpected ways — and how we can overlook significant progress in our businesses
  • Questions to ask yourself in order to recognize the amazing progress that you may have missed

17 Nov 2022Mastering the Inner Game with Adrienne Shnier00:47:21

08 Dec 2022Moving Through Money Blocks00:46:15

Are you ready to start feeling better about money, so that you can make MORE of it — joyfully and on your own terms?

Women, and particularly women entrepreneurs, have a tendency to hold themselves back when it comes to having MORE — more wealth, more prosperity, more abundance. Often, this resistance to having more stems from unconscious beliefs that we hold about money, beliefs that we learned as children and that have been passed down to us by our families, our mentors, and society as a whole.

Our beliefs about money can create powerful money blocks that hold us back from making our biggest, boldest power moves… and even make us feel guilty for wanting to be paid what we’re actually worth! This can lead us to undervalue our offers, to choose not pursue the biggest and juiciest contracts, and to think small rather than thinking BIG.

Healing your money mindset will have incredible benefits, not only for your business but for your overall life goals.

Tune in to learn how to recognize and move through your money blocks, and why wanting MORE doesn’t make you greedy or selfish… it can actually help you create an even bigger impact!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • 3 areas in your life that are potential sources of money blocks — and how to identify your limiting thoughts
  • A 4-step process for working through unconscious money beliefs so that you can start thinking big!
  • The #1 question that helps me figure out whether a client may be experiencing a money block

12 Jan 2023Shifting our Energy around Sales00:30:47

If I asked you to list your three favourite things about running your business, I’m willing to bet that selling wouldn’t make the list… and I get it! Sales can feel intimidating, and the idea of selling your offers can bring up a lot of emotions. You might think that you need to be pushy in order to “close the deal,” and that can feel really uncomfortable for many people.

But here’s the good news: sleazy, hard-sell tactics are outdated. You don’t need to behave like a stereotypical used car salesman to be successful at selling your offers, and you definitely shouldn’t feel nervous about sharing the amazing value that you bring to your clients!

This episode of The Business of Thinking Big is all about working through the mindset challenges that foster resistance to selling, so that you can learn how to sell in a way that feels good. Listen now and learn how to rewrite your sales story and achieve your revenue goals with more ease!

Get ready to meet one of my amazing right-hand women!

Camilla Brown has been a valued and valuable member of my team for the past 5 years. She started out as a virtual assistant and has since worked in many different capacities in my business. 23 Feb 2023Spring Cleaning your Mindset00:23:12

Spring cleaning isn’t just something that you do for your home. It’s also something that you can do for your mindset.

(And guess what — you don’t have to wait for spring in order to get started.)

Mindset work is ALWAYS ongoing. It isn’t a “set it and forget it” type of deal. If you want to continue to grow, evolve, and improve, it’s important to consciously return to this internal work (even if it’s just for a quick finetuning!). Throughout the year, you may find that you feel more or less in flow and in alignment at certain times. Often, these are tied to the seasons — you may find yourself feeling a little less aligned during the winter, and more rejuvenated and ready to move forward as the spring thaw approaches. Other times, these shifts are linked to personal situations or events that we may be dealing with.

In this episode, I share how to recognize your internal cycles, patterns, and traumas, how to effectively “spring clean” your mindset, and real-life examples of some of the biggest mindset challenges that I have faced as a business owner.

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • How the pandemic has greatly impacted the way that we think, feel, and work (and why women are feeling the brunt)
  • Why entrepreneurs and business owners are more vulnerable to scary challenges and shifts
  • How to make sure that we’re addressing the things that truly need to be addressed — and the #1 question to ask yourself

09 Mar 2023Cultivating Patience00:27:20

Patience may be a virtue, but it doesn’t come easily to all of us. In fact, I count myself as an impatient person. But one thing that I’ve learned over my years of helping others grow their businesses (as well as growing my own!), is that patience is an absolutely essential entrepreneurial skill.

The key is that, as business owners, we need to learn to blend our patience with proactivity — this potent combination is what helps us to take action, and to give ourselves grace when our actions don’t always lead to the results that we desire!

When we hit the right balance between patience and productivity, we are less likely to fall victim to frustration, anger, resentment, and other negative emotions that can distract us from pursuing our real goals. As a bonus, hitting this balance can also help us to become the type of leader (and human being) that we want to be!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • 3 areas in your business that make you feel impatient — and why waiting can be good for you
  • Why cultivating patience in regards to money in particular is crucial (and how to deal with dry spells!)
  • A real-life example of the need to blend patience and proactivity — and what can happen when you rush to react

16 Mar 2023Success on our own Terms00:58:55

What does success mean to you? While every entrepreneur is seeking it, we all have different definitions of what success means for us. For many, it can mean hitting a specific monthly or yearly revenue goal. For some, it can mean being able to work from a beach for half the year. And for others, it can mean building up a roster of dream clients or having more time to spend with the family.

Our version of success should reflect our own needs, goals, and values, not a cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all ideal.

In this episode, I speak with three incredible members of the Mamas & Co. community, each with a completely different business, story, and journey — and in this fascinating conversation, they share their unique experiences and versions of success!

From finding the right balance between feeling comfortable and feeling brave, to ensuring that actions are aligned with values, we explore how each of these amazing mompreneurs has built a fulfilling and profitable business… and how the Mamas & Co. community has helped them along the way!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌

  • Why so many women struggle with the idea creating success on their own terms—and how limiting ideas of what entrepreneurship means can hold us back
  • How having a supportive community can help to banish imposter syndrome
  • Why we need to cultivate the courage to overcome the mom guilt to focus on our own dreams

23 Mar 2023Scarcity Beliefs that are Holding you Back00:17:23

No matter what your goals may be, you deserve to live the type of lifestyle that you’ve always dreamed of — and the first step toward achieving it may be changing your mind! Through cultivating an abundance mindset, over the last decade I’ve been able to create a life that is filled with success, freedom, ease, and joy… and I want to help you do the same.

Living a life that is full of abundance is about more than simply building wealth (although making more money can definitely be a part of it!). When you are living abundantly, your life is full of the things that matter most to you: time to yourself, time with your family, gratitude, the ability to work with dream clients, the opportunity to give back to your community in meaningful ways, and the space to express yourself creatively.

You can absolutely create a life that is full of abundance, if you can shift the way that you think about certain aspects of your life — and I am here to show you how. In this episode, I share my four key principles for cultivating a powerful abundance mindset, and one simple exercise that will help you get started!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • Examples of where unhelpful beliefs may be showing up in your life — and how to turn things around
  • How to create more time to do the things that you love (or start that exciting new project!)
  • How to fill your own energetic cup, so that you can resist burnout and continue to make an impact

06 Apr 2023Finish Line Mindset00:26:27

As entrepreneurs, we often experience situations where our expectations don’t quite match our results. Whether it’s a masterclass that doesn’t sell out, a dream client that decides against working with us, a speaking invitation that isn’t extended, or a launch that just seems to fizzle out, these situations can feel emotionally painful. We can wind up feeling as though they are the result of who we are as people, rather than the decisions that we make as business owners — or even external situations that have nothing to do with us!

When we feel that we’re not “good enough” to succeed, that mindset will affect the actions that we take in the future, and it can stop us from making the bold moves that will help us to grow.

While entrepreneurship offers some really incredible and fulfilling highs, disappointment is an inevitable part of the journey… and we need to be prepared. When we’re able to detach ourselves emotionally from our results, release the need to control our outcomes, and stop comparing ourselves to others, that’s when true entrepreneurship begins!

In this episode, you’ll learn what can happen when you stop associating your business results with your self worth, the difference between moving through a challenge and pushing through a challenge, and why I always honour my calendar (even when it may not seem worth my time to do so).

Listen now to discover:‌ ‌

  • Why patience is a virtue when it comes to online launches, masterclasses, and webinars
  • Why entrepreneurship actually requires you to soften yourself, rather than toughen up
  • How to cultivate the skill of “crossing the finish line” during your launches — and why consistency is SO important

13 Apr 2023Business & Life Alignment with Jenny Friedman00:36:45

Are you wondering whether business coaching will help you to reach your goals? If you’ve been considering hiring a business coach, but want to learn more about what to expect before you take the leap, then this episode is for you!

I sit down with the amazing Jenny Friedman, a registered pediatric dietitian who specializes in helping families with extremely picky eaters overcome their mealtime challenges. Nearly two years into running her business, Jenny began to feel as though she had reached a plateau — not only was she no longer seeing steady growth, but it was getting harder to achieve the same results. She loved serving her clients and helping them work toward their goals, but didn’t feel as strong or as confident when it came making strategic sales and marketing decisions in her business.

Jenny knew that things needed to change in order for growth to happen… so she enlisted the support of a business coach (me!).

During this conversation, we dive into why Jenny decided to invest in coaching, what kind of changes she was hoping to make in her business, and the shifts and tweaks that she implemented in order to see some amazing results!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll learn:‌ ‌

  • How we infused high-level strategy into Jenny’s launch schedule and offers
  • How Jenny has changed the way that she launches — and why she became the queen of the webinar!
  • How she has connected with her dream clients and grown her business without paid ads

20 Apr 2023Webinars to Grow your Business00:26:27

You have a wide range of tools at your fingertips when it comes to growing your business. You’re probably already using social media, paid ads, and your mailing list, but you may not be taking full advantage of one of the most powerful tools available: the webinar.

Webinars are an amazing way to grow your audience, build your credibility as a thought leader, and, of course, sell your offers. But they can also be very intimidating, especially when you’re creating and promoting a webinar for the first time. If you’re able to move through your resistance and take the plunge, you may be surprised by your results!

In this episode, I share my biggest tips and tricks for growing your business through the power of webinars — including the webinar strategies that I use to grow my own business! You’ll learn which types of business owners are best suited to do webinars, the technical infrastructure you need to have in place in order to get the most benefit, and the four things that you NEED to know before you begin creating your webinar.

Ready to get started? Grab your pen and notebook, and hit play!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • The powerful reasons why you should consider adding webinars to your marketing strategy — and how to guide webinar attendees to your offers effectively
  • Why your first webinar will NOT be perfect (and why that is totally okay)!

27 Apr 2023Leadership Mindset with Rasholeen Nakra00:35:13

Working with a business coach can help established business owners uplevel their sales strategies, finetune their messaging, and better organize their offers, so that they can grow with more ease — but it can also help first-time business owners make the shift from corporate life to successful entrepreneurship.

My guest for this episode is Rasholeen Nakra, the Director of North York’s Angelic Treasures Christian Daycare, which provides children with a “learn through play” environment and the space and guidance to explore, create, learn, and grow.

Prior to shifting into the childcare field, Rasholeen worked as a consultant in the oil and gas industry. After realizing that there was a lack of high-quality childcare available in her area, she decided to fill that gap herself. She discovered the Angelic Treasures franchise, and her daycare now provides childcare and French learning services to 89 children of all faiths.

While she’s turned a struggling business into a success, the road wasn’t always smooth. As a first-time business owner, Rasholeen needed to learn entrepreneurship from A-Z —operations, team management, and more. In this episode, she shares the incredible insights that have helped her expand her business, why she has shifted her business goals, and how she developed her leadership role despite being a reluctant leader.

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

·        How Rasholeen discovered her personal leadership style and cultivated a learning culture in her business

·        How she ensures that her team members have clarity when it comes to her vision

·        How she managed to grow her daycare during the pandemic period, when parents were increasingly working from home

Guest bio: Rasholeen is the Director of Angelic Treasures Christian Daycare, North York. She is a mompreneur who has the vision to create daycare learning centers where children will blossom and parents will rest easy, knowing that their child is in good hands.

04 May 2023Building a 6-Figure Empire with Fran Murray00:51:39

Over the last few years, Fran Murray has been on a powerful journey… and she isn’t slowing down!

Fran is the CEO and founder of Fran Murray Co, a boutique gifting agency that helps mission-driven businesses nurture their key relationships while reducing the revenue gap that exists in the minority- and women-owned small business space. But before she launched Fran Murray Co, she turned her passion for baking into a brand called Chez Fran Desserts.

While this first business saw real growth, Fran felt overwhelmed and unfulfilled, and she struggled with finding her identity as an entrepreneur. Through her experience in my A-Players Rapid Impact Business Coaching, she became open to new ways of generating revenue and scaling her business — and shifted into a business model that fits her like a glove!

In this episode of The Business of Thinking Big, Fran shares the incredible insights and innovative strategies that have helped her build a sustainable, six-figure gift basket empire that is strongly aligned with her values.

You’ll discover:‌

·         The ‘A-ha!’ moment that helped Fran realize what WASN’T working in her business and discover her sweet spot

·         How she leveraged her existing customer relationships to grow her new brand (and generated over $30k within four weeks!)

·         Why Fran’s first strategic hire probably wasn’t what you would expect — and why it was the right choice for her business

Guest bio: Fran Murray is a baker, queen of flavour, and Food Network competitor. She wields her bougie baking skills and 20+ years of experience to spread love and encouragement through her artistry and her new Boxed 'n Bougie line of Luxury Trifles. 11 May 2023Doing the Hard Things00:47:03

As any business owner knows, the road to successful entrepreneurship isn’t always smooth or easy — it definitely comes with its share of speed bumps, potholes, and traffic jams! Often, we know what we need to do in order to grow, but resist taking our best next steps because we worry that it’s going to be hard.

The problem with avoiding these difficult steps? When we back away from challenges, we cut ourselves off from the opportunity to learn, grow, and take ourselves and our businesses to the next level.

In this episode of The Business of Thinking Big, I interview three amazing A-Players whose willingness to embrace doing the hard things has helped them to successfully build and grow three completely different businesses (while in the middle of a pandemic, no less!).

In this honest, no-holds-barred discussion, we talk about the importance of trusting the process, setting realistic goals, and starting new life phases after experiencing hardship.

Listen now to discover:‌ ‌

  • The challenges that each A-Player faced in order to build their thought leadership, reshape their offerings, or serve a new audience
  • The actions that they’ve taken and the strategies that they’ve implemented to order to play a bigger game

18 May 2023Playing Bigger in your Business00:23:08

Once you’ve made it past the first year or two in your business, you may be feeling comfortable. You have loyal customers, you have steady revenue, and you’re confident that you’re delivering value and creating impact. But deep down, you may be feeling stuck, or stagnant, or wondering “what now?”. You may be starting to realize that you have a LOT more to offer.

It’s probably time that you start playing a bigger game in your business — even if you don’t quite feel ready for it!

Playing bigger means stepping outside of your comfort zone and making moves that can almost feel TOO big. It could look like starting a podcast, expanding into a new market, building out a new product line, revamping your offers, or changing your ideal client avatar. It can feel daunting, but making these bigger, scarier moves will help you see bigger returns, feel more aligned in your business, and make more of an impact for your customers and audience… and can even lead to unexpected opportunities further down the line.

In this episode of The Business of Thinking Big, I dig into what it really means to play bigger in your business, why it’s so important to take the plunge, and what can happen when you fully embrace this concept and make those next-level moves!

Listen now to discover:‌ ‌

  • What it looks like when you’re called to something higher than what you’re currently doing
  • Why we talk ourselves out of playing bigger — and how to override those fears
  • Why the secret to successfully playing bigger is to think big, but start small

01 Jun 2023Master your Messaging00:24:36

Is the energy that you’re putting out into the world attracting the clients that you truly want to work with? This episode of The Business of Thinking Big was inspired by conversations I’ve been having lately with women entrepreneurs who are struggling with their lead generation — either they’re not getting enough leads into their businesses, or they’re not getting that higher caliber of client that they’d love to be serving.

Both of these issues can be traced back to one thing: their marketing efforts.

Your marketing is a magnet. The right marketing will attract the RIGHT people to your business. The wrong marketing will repel them, and leave you with leads that are less than desirable... or even no leads at all!

In order to be effective (and get the results that you crave!), your marketing needs to connect with the people who need EXACTLY what you offer, communicate your value, and get them excited to experience what it’s like to work with YOU!

In this episode, I break down the biggest and most common mistakes that I see people make when putting their offer out into the world, and share my best tips for mastering your messaging and perfecting your positioning.

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • The #1 rookie mistake when it comes to proving your credibility — and how it can lessen your impact
  • How to put out the type of energy that will attract your dream client
  • Why discovery calls are a VITAL piece of your business and how to get the most out of them!

15 Jun 2023Front-of-the-Class Mentality00:20:27

When you enter a classroom, yoga studio, or a seminar, where do you sit? Do you make a beeline for the front row, or tuck yourself away at the back of the room? Your answer to this question may reveal something about your relationship to risk!

Front-of-the-class mentality means being comfortable with being seen. Back-of-the-class mentality, on the other hand, means protecting yourself from risk and judgment. Sitting in the back of the room gives you an easy way out and lets you avoid attracting too much attention. Often, we wind up in the back because we believe that we just aren’t READY to move forward.

The difference between sitting in the back and sitting in the front can be like night and day, in terms of the quality of your experience and the benefits you may receive. We can start off with a back-of-the-class mentality and then shift to a front-of-the-class mentality as we grow more confident in our skills and knowledge.

In your own business, there may be areas where you have a back-of-the-class mentality and consider yourself to be a beginner in need of a safe exit strategy. This can lead to you playing smaller and missing out on powerful opportunities for growth! By shifting into a front-of-the-class mindset, you open yourself up to learning new things, gaining new skills, making mistakes, and learning from them.

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • How to recognize where you’re stuck in a back-of-the-class mentality in your life and business
  • The hidden benefits of stepping up and moving into a front-of-the-class position
  • A real-life illustration of my shift from the back-of-the-class to the front — and what I learned!

Burnout is much more than just periodically feeling overworked. It’s a serious psychological issue that can have a major impact on your health. Severe cases may require months of recovery (or even up to a year!). By recognizing the early signs and proactively making changes in your life, you can protect yourself and your business from its worst effects.

In this episode of The Business of Thinking Big, I sit down with the amazing Natacha Pennycooke, a registered psychotherapist and the CEO of Natacha Pennycooke Psychotherapy, to talk about burnout: what it means, what it looks like, and what you can do to prevent it. During our conversation, we explore how the experience and causes of burnout have shifted over the years, why burnout is so prevalent in female entrepreneurs, and how we have dealt with our own bouts of burnout.

This is a vitally important episode for all entrepreneurs, so you’ll want to be ready to take notes!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • How to identify your capacity to take things on — and how to recognize your ‘trigger emotion’ when you take on too much
  • How to find a balance between your desire to grow your business and the need to honour your own capacity
  • The 4 Ds of burnout prevention and how to heal when you hit rock bottom

Guest bio: Not only is Natacha a mom, wife, and lover of popcorn, but she is also an award-winning psychotherapist, keynote speaker, workshop facilitator, and corporate consultant. She is the clinical director of Natacha Pennycooke Psychotherapy (NPP), where her team of expert psychotherapists are changing the face of therapy and mental health on a global scale.

17 Jul 2023MM: Further Than You Think00:15:06

One thing that I’ve noticed during my many years of coaching high-achieving, brilliant, and ambitious women is that we have a tendency to be VERY hard on ourselves. Having big goals and aspirations is wonderful, but we can wind up feeling disappointed and being overly critical of ourselves when things don’t go according to plan or happen on our desired or expected schedule. You’re not going to grow a successful, thriving, and joyful business when you’re focused on being hard on yourself! This is a long journey, not a quick sprint, and you need to show yourself grace and celebrate the wins that you’ve already achieved.

In this Mindset Monday mini-episode, I share why you must remember that you are further ahead than you think you are — and how focusing on your success can help to multiply it!

Listen now to learn:‌ ‌

  • The importance of cultivating trust in yourself and in your ability to reach your goals
  • Why the feeling of “don’t have” can create a block that prevents you from achieving future success
  • How the obstacles you’ve faced on your journey can help you build stronger connections with your audience

20 Jul 2023Living the Dream00:31:50

When you are your own boss, you get to set your own rules and do things differently. But would you say that you are living the dream?

There are as many different versions of “the dream” as there are entrepreneurs. For some, it might mean spending part of the year working in another country (or on the beach!). For others, it could mean structuring your week so that you can spend more time with your family. And some might consider the dream to be shifting to a new business model altogether.

Your version of the dream may not necessarily be easy, simple, neat, or convenient. It may require more time, more planning, more flexibility, or more buy-in from your team. But your dream is waiting to be claimed… and there is always a way to make it happen!

In this episode, I share my own version of the dream and how I have made it a reality for myself and my family. Tune in to learn how I got clear on what my dream really was, what we did to make it happen, and what YOU can learn from my journey!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • Why I’ve decided to take my family on a trip to the south of France this summer — and why NOW was the perfect time
  • Why you should give yourself permission to dream beyond what is merely “possible” and embrace your authentic desires
  • Why there will always be reasons NOT to do something — and why the reasons to do something are more important

31 Jul 2023MM: Belief in Self00:11:43

Getting the life of your dreams very, very rarely comes down to luck alone! There is a lot of inner work that must be done in order to build the life and business of your dreams.

Over the years, I’ve spent countless hours coaching people at different stages of success on how to set their goals, how to build their businesses, and how to shift their mindsets. One thing that has stood out to me is this: the people that seem to have the life and business of their dreams didn’t always have it all figured out! The big difference between these people and others who were still wishing and hoping is that they took the time to do the INNER work.

Through this inner work, they were able to truly believe in their goals and dreams (well before it was even rational to do so!). They were able to truly believe in their own ability to bring them to fruition… and then they did exactly that! In this Mindset Monday mini-episode, you’ll discover how to shift your mindset regarding your biggest goals from “That feels impossible” to “I’ve got this!”

Listen now to learn:‌ ‌

  • A simple exercise that will help you recognize your amazing ability to turn thoughts into successful actions
  • The difference between reciting affirmations and cultivating authentic belief in yourself
  • How to recognize when your brain shifts into ‘research mode’ — the first step to believing that something is possible!

07 Aug 2023MM: Money Mindset Hack00:11:03

Money mindset is something that comes up in my work with women entrepreneurs quite frequently — maybe more than any other topic relating to mindset!

There are a few reasons why so many women struggle with their money mindset. Women often feel as though they’ve fallen into the business world by accident, and their lack of business background leaves them feeling unconfident and overwhelmed by the financial side of their business. Not only that, but as women we’re largely conditioned by society to believe that we are “frivolous” or “bad with money,” and these limiting beliefs can be deeply ingrained in us even before we reach our teen years! We also tend to struggle with pricing our offers, and can be held back by imposter syndrome or the fear of seeming “greedy.”

In this Mindset Monday mini-episode, you’ll discover how to rehabilitate your money mindset, build a healthier and more productive relationship with your own professional ambition, and start earning what you are worth!

Listen now to learn:‌ ‌

  • The #1 thing you need to believe in order to build a profitable business
  • What to consider when setting your pricing
  • A shortcut that will help you identify your most emotionally fulfilling goals and create more positive feelings about money

10 Aug 2023The Brand Experience00:24:09

We’ve all had the experience of walking into a store or buying a service online, and knowing almost immediately that it would be the first and only time. We’ve also had the experience of revisiting a shop or a website again and again (sometimes when we aren’t even looking to buy anything!).

What sets these experiences apart? It’s the way that each particular business makes you feel.

Brand experience goes FAR beyond just the delivery of a product or service. It includes your marketing, your communication, your positioning, your customer service, your aesthetic — even your physical store layout, if you’re a brick-and-mortar business. And when it comes to brand experience, small details can make a big impact!

What does your business look like through the eyes of your customers? What is it like to engage with your brand — and how do you keep people coming back for more?

In this episode of The Business of Thinking Big, I explore a case study of a business that offers a brand experience so fantastic that it actually had me revisiting their shop multiple times a week and spending money each time. Listen now to discover actionable tips that will help any type of business create an irresistible brand experience!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll learn:‌ ‌

  • How to create a welcoming and appealing environment in your business
  • How to avoid stifling visitors to your website or store and let them explore your offers comfortably
  • How to effectively communicate what you offer in a way that people can instantly understand

14 Aug 2023MM: Why You're Not Living Your Dreams00:10:16

“Living the dream.” That’s what we’re all working toward, but why does it seem to fall just out of reach for so many people? Why aren’t more of us living the dream right now?

Now, if your version of living the dream is owning your own island, that’s one thing! But for most of us, living the dream shouldn’t be so elusive. Quite often, our dream lives can be attained through smaller shifts, rather than dramatic changes. Whether it’s travelling more, having more time to spend with your family, or enjoying a creative outlet, our dreams are often closer to reality than we might think.

In this Mindset Monday mini-episode, you’ll discover three major reasons why so many women are not living their dreams right now — and how you can get off the hamster wheel and start building the life that you want and deserve!

Listen now to learn:‌ ‌

  • Why you need to cultivate space to focus on your dreams — and give yourself permission to do so!
  • Why you might not be dreaming big enough
  • How the saying “you’ve got to see it to believe it” gets it wrong

17 Aug 2023Manifesting your Dreams with Rebecca Lane00:56:44

Can manifestation really help you build a life that you love? My guest for this episode of The Business of Thinking Big is Rebecca Lane, a violinist who has blended her love of music with her entrepreneurial spirit to create something incredible… and she credits manifestation with helping her reach her biggest goals!

Rebecca is the founder of the Lane School of Music. As a musician, she entered the business world with a scarcity mindset, which she needed to shed in order to dream bigger. While she launched the school out of a spare room in her house, the school now offers lessons to over 700 students through its multiple locations! Rebecca now coaches other music school owners to shift from a ‘starving artist’ mindset to one of abundance.

During our conversation, Rebecca and I explore the concept of manifestation: what it is (and isn’t!), how it actually works, and how it can work for YOU. The truth is that we are all always manifesting, whether we know it or not. The key? Manifesting with intention to create a joyful life and business!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • How to identify the goals and desires that will actually fulfil your needs
  • Why it’s okay to change your mind halfway down the path to your goals
  • Real-life examples of how Rebecca infuses manifestation into her business (and why they work!)

Guest bio: Once a freelancing violinist, Rebecca has transformed her career to entrepreneur, coach, and 7-figure business owner. Starting with a violin studio of a handful of students in her home, Rebecca now owns a music school with over 50 team members and 4 locations. It all started with a dream and the belief that anything is possible. She is the host of The Powerhouse Musician Podcast.

21 Aug 2023MM: New Approach to Goals00:10:29

Over the years that I’ve spent coaching entrepreneurs, I’ve seen far too many fall into the trap of becoming obsessed with their goals. Becoming overly fixated on achieving one specific outcome makes it harder to maintain the flexibility that is needed to pivot or shift your goals when necessary. When this rigidity and singlemindedness leads you to try to force a particular result, chances are you will not even come close to the finish line — and this can discourage you from trying again in the future.

What we need to do as a collective is shift the way that we approach our goals.

In this Mindset Monday mini-episode, you’ll discover how to cultivate a healthier mindset around goal-setting — one that feels better each and every step of the way!

Listen now to learn:‌ ‌

  • The difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset
  • How working toward your goals can fit more comfortably (and joyfully) into your daily or weekly schedule
  • How practicing the Law of Detachment will help you better enjoy the journey to your goal — even when it takes some unexpected turns!

My guest Kaely Harrod is a doula, educator, coach, and host of the Doula Tips and Tits podcast. Through her doula business, she ensures that families are educated to meet their desired goals for their births to the best of their ability (while also leaving space for the unknowns)! More recently, Kaely has begun to offer coaching to other doulas, and actually revamped her entire podcast to cater to this new market!

In this episode, Kaely and I discuss how she “accidentally” became a six-figure business, the finer points of successfully layering an entirely new business model into an existing business, and how being an A Player has helped her build a thriving and joyful business — one that has allowed her change some of the outdated narratives in and around her industry!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • The surprising social media experiment that convinced her to shift her podcast to a new audience
  • How she pushed through her doubts to implement a new revenue stream into her business — and her brilliant win/win approach to market research!
  • An overview of the launch strategy she used to give her coaching business a strong start

Guest bio: Kaely has supported hundreds of families in the perinatal space for over 12 years. She now has a thriving doula business supporting and educating families and coaching doulas. She is passionate about equity and education in the birth space and is further those by providing coaching for newer doulas who are just branching into this field. She is also a podcast host of the popular Doula Tips and Tits podcast!

28 Aug 2023MM: Visualization Tips00:10:17

If you want to achieve your goals with more ease, then I highly recommend taking the same advice that you give your kids: use your imagination! A big part of how I’ve achieved many of my dreams, from building a 7-figure business to spending a summer in France with a family, is through visualization.

Part of the amazing power of visualization is that your brain cannot tell the difference between a vividly imagined scenario and the real thing — it can’t differentiate between reality and your detailed mental “rehearsal.” When you are visualizing, you are essentially priming your brain to experience that specific event in the future. This is why so many top athletes, speakers, and executives swear by visualization as a preparation tool or a daily practice.

In this Mindset Monday mini-episode, you’ll discover how to use visualization to achieve your own goals with more ease!

Listen now to learn:‌ ‌

  • Why visualization is such an effective tool
  • 6 tips for creating your most impactful and effective visualization practice
  • A real-life example of how my visualization practice helped me to find my dream partner

07 Sep 2023Levelling-Up your Mind & Business with Jaime Gennaro00:46:39

Sometimes the business that you’ve built is no longer the business that you want to run — and in order to regain your passion, drive, and joy, you may need to make some changes. This could look like updating your ideal client avatar, retooling your offers, or shifting to an entirely new business model… or it might just mean recognizing the ways in which you’re already closer to your dream business than you may think!

My amazing guest Jaime Gennaro is a business coach and consultant who is on a mission to take the pain away from entrepreneurship and business ownership! Jaime teaches her clients the tactics that help them connect to their own unique way of running their business and lead their teams with joy, rather than just following the crowd and relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

When I met Jaime, she was already running a VERY successful business, but she didn’t feel that it allowed her to truly work in her zone of genius, use her strongest skill set, or experience the thrill of a challenge. During this conversation, Jaime and I discuss her business transformation, how she shifted from playing small to thinking BIGGER, and the small changes she made that allowed her to not only serve her dream clients effectively, but to continue to stretch outside of her comfort zone and feel challenged and fulfilled!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • What happened when Jaime turned off her sales funnel — and how she gently guided prospects onto her new path!
  • How to infuse your work days with more confidence and joy (even when you dislike sales calls!)
  • Jaime’s biggest wins and transformations from the last six months

Guest bio: Jaime Gennaro is a business growth consultant, executive coach, and host of the Business for Humans podcast. She helps CEOs and their teams elevate to new heights through mindset work, clear tactics, and a recalibration of their purpose and passion.

One of the most challenging parts of entrepreneurship is the feeling of isolation. As entrepreneurs (and especially as women and mompreneurs!), we may often feel as though no one understands us. Having a community and network that really gets where you’re coming from, what you’re struggling with, and how to support you is absolutely priceless!

28 Sep 2023What I Would Do Differently00:23:02

This episode of The Business of Thinking Big was inspired by a thought-provoking conversation I had during a strategy call with a member of the Mamas & Co. community. During this call, Courtney Martin, founder of the amazing mamapreneur-focused Quadrant Bookkeeping, asked me:

“If you were to look back on your first year of business, what would you do (or what would you do differently) now that you’ve had all this experience?”

That’s a GREAT question!

Over the last decade of my entrepreneurial journey (including the six years since quitting my day job), I’ve learned a lot… and much of what I’ve learned could have helped me to build my business far more quickly, joyfully, and easefully during those early years. This is why I love coaching — I love sharing my hard-won knowledge in order to help other women entrepreneurs avoid common pitfalls, understand their best next steps, access the resources they need, and make the powerful mindset shifts that will allow them to grow and scale their businesses with more confidence!

In this episode, I share the top five things that I would DEFINITELY do differently if I were able to redo the first few years of building my business, knowing what I know now. Whether you’re in your first year of business or your fifth, you’ll find some valuable golden nuggets in this episode!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • The biggest mistake I made when it came to my marketing — and what YOU should be prioritizing
  • Why I wasn’t taking full advantage of the social media tools available (and how to maximize your own impact today!)
  • How to find the right balance when it comes to paying yourself and investing back into your business

12 Oct 2023How to Feel More Confident with Stiva Sinanan00:46:03

When you feel stuck in a career that isn’t serving you, you need to have the courage to think about what you REALLY want to do – even when no one else around you is taking that step.

In this inspirational episode of The Business of Thinking Big, I sit down with Stiva Sinanan, a fitness trainer and coach whom you may recognize as a member of the Team Teal on CBC’s reality competition Canada's Ultimate Challenge (and a repeat MamaCon speaker!). While his team may have lost the big prize to Team Black, Stiva is no stranger to determination. He once cycled from Toronto to Montreal to raise money for charity – a ride that took over six days to complete!

Stiva has been just as determined when it comes to his business. When he decided to leave his six-figure career to follow his passion, his colleagues thought he was crazy, but he wasn’t deterred and took the plunge! Now, he’s doing the work that lights him up — and helping others live better, healthier lives!

When you’ve spent years growing your business, you may eventually start to fall out of love with it, no matter how passionate you felt when you first launched… and this is perfectly normal. The reality is that you can and will experience different “seasons” when running your business! During some seasons, you’ll feel more connected to and engaged in your business — these will be your best seasons for productivity and innovation! During others, you may struggle, and getting through these seasons will require resilience. Often, the seasons of your business will be shaped by your personal life or external circumstances.

09 Nov 2023Business Lessons from Taylor Swift00:36:34

I think it’s important to keep an open mind and look in some unconventional places for business insights and inspiration at times — and right now there is no better place to look than at Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift not only an incredibly talented singer-songwriter, she’s also a seasoned and savvy entrepreneur who is changing the landscape for multiple industries and reinvigorating local economies at every stop of her international, record-smashing Eras tour!

With the release of her similarly record-breaking Eras concert film, Taylor may have a hand in permanently changing the way that the movie theatre industry works. Through producing the film herself and signing distribution deals directly with theatres, she’s been able to shake off studio involvement entirely and secure a larger percentage of the ticket revenue — and this is just the latest in a long series of brilliant business decisions throughout her career.

In this episode of The Business of Thinking Big, I share the top ten business lessons that we can learn from Taylor Swift. Whether or not you like her music, this woman is a fearless business genius, and this episode is packed with golden nuggets that you won’t want to miss!

Listen now to discover:‌ ‌

  • How to confidently own and profit from your personal brand
  • How to keep your customers on their toes, intrigued, and eager for more of your content
  • How to make an experience completely about the customer — and create loyal, raving, and engaged fans!
